Hi! I've been binge reading your Fae! series again and I had an idea that I just had to share with you.
Fae!Gary who is trying to ensnare a fantasy writer/editor darling who is constantly foiling his plans by accident.
He gifts them a book that he said reminded him of them? they hand him a book they just knew he'd love.
He gives them flowers to brighten up the office? she gives him a knowledge dump on what the bouquet means based on the language of flowers.
thanks for taking the time to read this! don't forget to get some water and a snack <3
Oh my God ROACH, the forgotten son. Chaos boy, gremlin man, low danger sense and impossible to kill. Yeah you can have a little Roach as a treat. I've tweaked this prompt a little for a librarian!reader, also with a few of my personal Roach headcanons.
It's always a slow day when he comes in. Always with a mask on and earbuds in. You smile and wave him over. He hardly needs the prompting, making his way quickly but purposefully to stand in front of your cart. He tugs an earbud free, and holds out a book to you. Hard canvas bound with yellowed pages, the front is painted with laurels of heather and honeysuckle. It's not one of the library's collection.
"Where's the book you took out?" You frown, glancing to see if he has any bags or is holding anything else. He shoves the book under his arm and digs through his pocket to pull out a notebook and nubby pencil. You wait for him to finish scribbling and show you.
"Already returned," He turns the page and keeps writing.
"So then this is...?" You're really just filling dead air, you assume he's going to tell you what it is. He has this preternatural ability to think conversations an extra sentence ahead.
"A present for you," He holds up the notebook, and you smile a little at the doodle in the corner. A little square with a bow on top.
"I have something for you too!" You grin, clapping your hands together. His brows draw together with a frown. "We were going through the books that we're going to sell soon and I saw this, made me think of you." You hold up a finger to tell him to wait and rush behind the front desk.
It takes a moment of digging to get the old book free but it's well worth it. You hold it up with an excited 'ta-da' and hurry back to your cart. He never tries to disguise his interest in your trades, and you can see the exact moment his eyes light up with excitement reading the cover.
"It's super out of date these days, but I thought-" He cuts you off with a few rapid hand movements. Ones you recognize easily.
"No, no, I love it." He signs, trading your gift for his. He eagerly cracks open the ancient entomology hardback. You feel your heart squeeze a little watching him trace his finger over a colorful illustration of a beetle. You finally look away to see what book he's brought you. It's a collection of old love stories from the region. Your heart squeezes a little tighter.
"You know it's silly, um," You start, not sure how to phrase what is so average for most people, "You keep coming in, and I feel like I know so much about you, but I don't know-" He looks up from the book, there's something colder in his eyes, something that warns against the question on your tongue, "-your name." You finish.
The look in his eyes makes you wish you could take it back, makes you feel like you've shattered whatever isle of peace you two had carved out for yourself. He looks back at the page he'd been reading and snaps the book closed. The sound makes you flinch. He balances his notebook against the hardback and scribbles something before opening the entomology book again. His eyes scan the pages as he flips through, before he finds what he's looking for, and turns both books for your approval.
The page is opened to a Roach, and the notebook reads "it's a nickname." You nod.
"Sorry I asked," You tell him. He shrugs. Then blinks, seeming to realize something. He glances down at his chest and scratches it, strangely you get the urge to itch as well. He can hardly get his notebook set up fast enough, and you jump to catch the entomology book when it slips from his grip. The notebook is shoved in your face almost as quickly as you can hold the book out to him.
"Do you like your book?"
"Oh! Yes!" You're realizing you haven't given his gift the attention it deserves. You grab the book off the cart and flip through it, skimming your finger over the table of contents. You recognize most of the stories, the classics, but not all of them. The paper is just a hair thicker than modern books, with filigree at the top and bottom edges speaking to its age. You wonder where he found something so beautiful. When you look up at him again his eyes are soft, brows drawn together in an expression you'd almost call lovesick.
"Would you want to get dinner some time?" You surprise both of you with the ask. Roach seems to light up all at once again, nodding excitedly. "Ok, um," You grab his pencil and lean to jot down your number on his notebook, he watches you like a hawk the whole time, "I have to get back to work, but text me when you're free and I'll-" He's leaned so close to you, solid and warm, his fingers cover yours as he takes his pencil back, making your brain stall a little. You don't know how you were going to finish that sentence.
"Ok," He says, and his voice is so low you hardly think you heard him at all.
"Ok," You agree. His eyes scrunch happily, and you return the smile. This is good. You have a good feeling about this.

hey everyone! I'm sure this is the update that no one was really waiting for lol, but here it is:
it's been almost two years since I started writing on this blog and truly I am so grateful for all the things I was able to achieve and experience since then. this became an outlet for me during a time that I really needed it and almost gave me a purpose when I genuinely felt like I had no idea what I was doing. through this blog, I was able to grow as a writer and a person and I am so thankful to you all for letting me.
I think that you can guess where this is going, but over these past couple months I've realized that this blog is no longer encouraging my growth, but honestly doing the opposite. I want to make it clear that there isn't anything/anyone who caused this change - it 100% has to do with me. my interests have changed and I'm more passionate about new things that I'd like to explore more. I've realized tumblr has become an excuse to avoid my life as opposed to an occasional escape from it and is honestly hindering my ability to make my life more of what I want it to be. for lack of a better term: I think it's time I went outside and touched grass.
for the first time in a long time, I'm genuinely excited about how aspects of my life are going and, I know I don't have them figured out by any means, but I want to give myself the space and time to try. I always knew that this blog wasn't going to be a forever thing and, while I'm always going to be thankful for what it has become for me and others, I think it's served it's purpose and I'm ready to continue figuring out the person I am in a different way.
thank you to all of you for these past two years, I have genuinely had so much fun and am so grateful for how kind and welcoming you were to me. I wish you all nothing but the best and am rooting for you always!
thank you, thank you, thank you <3

p.s. I'm sure you've probably also seen the whole doxxing situation and the amount of people who are leaving because of it. I've already sent my messages to May and fully respect and understand anyone's decision to leave. if I'm honest, I think I made my mind up a while ago, this was just the final nail in the coffin.

i love how possessive shin yoosung is right out of the gate. like she met kim dokja, what, a couple days ago? but as soon as she sees lee gilyoung she's ready for the thunderdome. babe you don't need to compete with this guy...kim dokja knew him first but did he make lee gilyoung his incarnation? no. he chose you. within hours of meeting you. you could be sooo smug about this but instead you're growling and hissing like a feral kitten. and it's not like kim dokja is much better...he's not possessive but he's all worried that she'll see yoo joonghyuk and go starry-eyed and forget all about her poor ol' sponsor. you're both ridiculous! nobody is a threat to the love you have for each other. dumbasses lol.

i drew my babygirl Jon Arbuckle :)
Tumblr media
his ass!!! it haunts me!!!! i tried to draw him taller but he just kinda ended up looking really stocky and i don't know how that happened,,, man's like 6 foot canonically. i think i was too focused on his ass and making his legs look cute lol
Tumblr media
speaking of ass, i don't know why Jim Davis decided to give Jon such a dumptruck but i'm so glad he did. ever since the very beginning of Garfield in the 'Jon' strip, he's had a fat ass and i absolutely love that. it's just a cemented part of his character now and always has been XD
Tumblr media
i drew 1978-1980 Garf from memory!! one of my absolute favourite things about classic Garfield is just how arch-shaped he is. he's just a fat little cat guy and i love him :) i always make sure i draw the arch shape when i draw Garfield sitting cause that's one of my favourite parts about drawing him
Tumblr media
also here is Gnorm :) for those unaware, back in the very early 1970s, before Garfield was created in any form, Jim Davis made a little comic strip about bugs called 'Gnorm Gnat'. it was mainly about the little bug dudes getting into silly relatable little antics with snappy punchlines. it's got a few characters like Gnorm, a fruit fly named Freddy, a slug named Cecil, a smart worm called Dr. Rosenwurm and Drac Webb to name a few. for something so early, it actually has quite a few familiar aspects of what would later become Garfield. the same writing style, a similar art style to early Garfield/Jon, occasional references to Peanuts (a comic Davis grew up with), the German doctor character who later appeared in the 'Jon' strip, heck there's even a goofy bug named Lyman! additionally, the name "John Arbuckle" shows up in a strip where Dr. Rosenwurm reads a piece of poetry written by him (which was recycled into an actual early Garfield strip where Jon Arbuckle reads the same poem). in fact, it's so mildly familiar that the entirety of the September 9th, 1978 Garfield strip was recycled twice, first in Jon and then in Garfield!
unfortunately, Gnorm Gnat only ended up getting published in the local newspaper, Pendleton Times, following several rejections from various syndicates for the fact that bugs just aren't as relatable or funny to a lot of people as Jim Davis thought they were. of course, i think Gnorm Gnat is something very special to the history of Garfield and i quite like it for its significance. i think it's a cute little bug comic and i hope it gets rebooted someday :)
#jon arbuckle#garfield#gnorm gnat#jim davis#currently listening to the 'Arbuckle' soundtrack that Patricia Taxxon created :D#it's really good!!!!#i love her music it's so cool!!#y'know after learning to draw the guy i've become quite fond of gnorm#i already liked him before because he's interesting to garf history but like.#i think i'm slowly becoming an unironic gnorm gnat fan#if gnorm gnat has 5 million fans i'm one of them#if gnorm gnat has one fan that's me#if gnorm gnat has no fans i've been crushed by a giant shoe#oh yeah one of my favourite things about gnorm gnat is the urban legend that the comic ended with him getting crushed by a shoe#it didn't actually end that way (it actually ended with him thanking pendleton) but it's funny to think about#i think i actually have a sort of mandela effect memory related to that legend actually#like i felt like i had actually seen it online before but it was actually just a garfield comic i was misremembering where he squishes a bu#what's really funny about that legend though is that it has a tiny bit of truth to it. there is a gnorm gnat strip where a bug gets-#-squished by a shoe but it isn't gnorm#it was a random bug who's supposed to be one of those guys with signs who go and say ''the end is afoot!''#and then he ends up getting squashed by a shoe#to which cecil slug says ''now that's what i call irony''#so yeah someone does get squished but it wasn't the last strip and gnorm is fine#jim davis himself actually appears in a few strips represented simply as an omnipresent giant pencil which is really funny#i could ramble endlessly about this comic but i think i'm starting to run out of tags#there should be a gnorm gnat fandom i think

hey... hey... how y'all doin' 😅
I know I kinda disappeared for like two months without warning, sorry about that! I don't really have an entire explanation, life just kind of took over. at this point in time, I don't really know what that means for this blog and so I don't want to announce anything that I might end up changing my mind about later. I think, right now, what I can say for sure is that there are a couple things in my life that I really need to focus on at the moment and so I think I'm gonna kind of step back from posting stuff (though lets be real, I was really doing that anyway lol). hopefully, when I get those things worked out, I'll be able to come back and start posting again, and I'll still try to be active on here when I can, but I think I need a bit of a hiatus.
thank you to everyone who reached out to me while I was gone, your kind words have been so lovely to read through, and I'm so sorry if I worried any of you. I'm also sorry if any of you are disappointed or were looking forward to any of my writing and I hope you can understand why I've made this decision.
anyway, as always, thank you all for your love and support and I'll see you soon!

ngl the way some of y’all goyim on here are using the word “zionist” right now reminds me an awful lot of how americans in media and news and propaganda used the word “communist” during the Red Scare and its more than a bit concerning

any folks on here who were older (30s+ i mean) when they learned to art* who have any advice on learning how to art? in terms of mindset moreso than technique or what to focus on, if that makes sense?
cause like. i want to learn. i have a bit of a road map and things i want to focus on. but The Fear of Sucking and The Fear of Actually Being Incapable of Learning to Art Good (So I'm Just Wasting My Time) and other garbage brain-demons keep getting in the way and it's all very exhausting but 'just do it' doesn't work for me because. The Brain-Demons.
*i'm pacifically trying to learn to draw, but considering i feel this fear with all art, i'll listen to anyone.
