behold my new ingenious invention!

Since the unfortunate loss of my previous wizard tower (thanks to @the-illegal-wizard-council ) I have had to relocate. In doing so I have come up with an invention that could revolutionise wizard housing! I propose to you, reader, the reverse wizard tower!

So we all know wizard towers, towers, that wizards live in. Well the reverse wizard tower is different. Rather than going up high into the sky, it goes deep down into the ground, and is covered by a small homely looking cabin.

I suppose in other words this could be considered a shack on top of a hole in the ground but for now it must do while I continue to work on my new regular wizard tower.

You know, thinking about the unique lens through which we view the spiral in Wizard101 vs Pirate101 has got me thinking about how many characters specifically from Wizard101 we have an incredibly skewed view on. Like, an example would be Private Emerson or really any of the Wizard City guards. The Wizard101 world's fights prioritizes dueling and structure and yada yada, and so the best magical duelist is the strongest. You'll have bitches with swords decked out in armor....summoning pixies to fight you? I'm not going to go into like the specifics (in this post) of the implications of the emphasis on dueling but like, think about this.

What if the Wizard City guards are terrible duelists and magicians, but fantastic buccaneers, swashbucklers, even privateers? Non-magic combat is just as viable in the spiral as magic duels, but because of the wizard world's heavy focus on duels, melee combatants might be forced into a structure where their true talents are hidden!

Also yes the influence of societal rules and structures on a community and/or indiviual could be strong enough to stand in the way of someone's personality, positive ideas, traits, etc. We force fish to climb trees irl all the time (metaphorically). I'm not gonna go into the weeds on that as that's not what this account (and by that I mean my brain) are wanting to talk about right now, just needed to put that out there to dispel any "why don't they just fight, who cares about the duels?".

People Like Me Break Beautiful Things

So, the idea of shipping various versions of McConaughey and Farrell has messed with my head, leaving it even more foolish than usual, hence ridiculous and absurd ideas come to my brain at the speed of lightning.

In researching both of their filmographies, I think I found two people who would work very well together. You know, it's just that cliché of water and fire, Yin and Yang, the old joke of "those who fight, love each other" or "opposites attract. What I mean, in other words, is that these two charming wizards:

Walter Padick and Percival Graves

Would be perfect for a damn ship. Percy, so serious, grumpy, proper, and on the side of good, paired with Walter, cynical, negatively fun, mocking, and entirely unethical... They would make a great duo, lol. Especially when you consider that The Dark Tower and Fantastic Beasts happen in the same place, New York. It's just a matter of transferring the events of one of the two movies to the same era. In my case, I've preferred to move the FB story to a more modern time, 2017 to be exact.

So, here I leave you a little fanfic I wrote a while ago, and it might interest you if you like crossover ships like me and angst:

Percival thought walter was the threat, but no, he wasn't, he wasn't at all.

An alternative AU in which the events of Fantastic Beasts take place in 2017. A new threat appears and Percival becomes obsessed with stopping it at all costs.

Likewise, Walter really isn't the only thing to deal with. There is a very familiar magician who has escaped in the middle of all the scandal that the man in black has created.

Favorite d&d class (or if you prefer a different system, favorite class from that)?

my most-played class in 5E is Variant Fighter, a homebrew version of Fighter that moves maneuvers from Battle Master and makes them a base-class feature. it's super fun and effective, letting one do flavorful multiclasses without taking too much of a hit to effectiveness (especially nice if you're playing with turbogamers minmaxing for combat encounters). besides that I'm also a big fan of Lore Mastery wizard, because my favorite ttrpg character i've ever played was one. here is them, Cammy (girl, living car battery, chief stick carrier) & Maximus (the stick, world's dickheadest wizard, probably a bad guy)

Two opinions bc neither are particularly serious. My first is that I still think it's genuinely funnier and a better story if he was born immediately post-Calamity (or even mid-Calamity) rather than pre-Calamity; it's a loosely held opinion and there's things Matt could do to sell me but honestly making him someone born who is throwing a big-ass tantrum because he missed the splendor of the Age of Arcanum is way more interesting to me than making him just another Age of Arcanum wizard. The second is that while there is no reason for this to be true everyone in the fandom who calls him "Ludy" or "Luda" invariably has terrible takes. I do not know why but like, people who spend a lot of time coming up with nicknames for villains almost always have bad takes re: those villains.
