Cherik. Oh Cherik, my love, my heart. I could sing of how I adore thee for forever and a day. But for now, I will instead talk about another beautiful fic.

I love a good Life on Genosha continuation of the canon Dark Phoenix ending. It’s such a natural progression, and the simmering feelings here are just uuuuuuugh. So good. The characters are written perfectly, and you can see the growth there, if you remember them how they were in the beginning (aka in First Class); it’s been thirty years (approximately) since then, and they’ve both lived through much, and learned harsh lessons. But the love? It’s always been there, and it shines brightly despite everything.

The Jane Eyre reference is amazing, both from a meta standpoint (almost wanted Charles to muse about how similar he finds Erik to Mr. Rochester, lol) and also just from an emotional one. That bit where they talk about it, and Charles starts to cry? My hearrrrrrt.

Also, y’all know I’m always here for some non-English endearments, lol.

This fic, like Charles and Erik (and Cherik itself), is gorgeous. Highly recommended.

For about 15 years I think? (Though I tend to write slowly and to have long periods of inactivity...)

— Do you have a favorite word? (One that you love. Doesn’t necessarily have to be one you use all the time.)

First ones I can think of are “impromptu”, “panache”, “inconvenience”, “still”, and “although”.

— Share a favorite run-on sentence that you’ve written.

— Share a bit of a scene that you’ve written that still gives you FEELS.

One scene I’ve written long ago and that still gets me emotional can be found in “As Hidden by Clear Water” (The Man from UNCLE (2015)), right after Illya and Napoleon’s fake identities were tested in a rather rough way and that Illya is still very pissed about it and Napoleon intertwines their fingers to ground him (which is a first and a big move since they are still pinning)..

— What is your favorite kind of character interaction to write?

Banter, deep trust, pinning, stubborn people being stubborn together,... — Do you have a hyper-specific genre?

Not really, but I tend write a lot of (heavy) angst (usually with an happy ending though) and I love exploring AUs!

— Any personal or frequently used tags?

“Angst” (the one tag all of my fics have in common 😆)

— Share a joke or funny moment that you’ve written that still makes you laugh.

Not really a Joke but “No Longer Alone in the Dark”, is about Loki comforting Mobius, but towards the end, Mobius ends up comforting Loki who evoked is past life.  It came unplanned and somehow just happened I like what it shows about Mobius and how compassionate he is!

“Would you please stop this?” he [Loki] asked, falsely irritated. Give it to Mobius to find a way to compliment him at the very moment he was busy complimenting Mobius! “I’m the one comforting you here. Wait for your turn!”

— Best editing tip?

Wait a bit before editing. Don’t just finish your work and start editing right away (or let that be your first round at editing). I noticed I spot a lot more mistakes (especially tense continuity errors) when I let the text get out of my head and then in again (if it makes any sense^^).

— What drives you to write?

Love for the characters, the fandom, ideas I need to get out of my head and share, feels

— Share something about your writing that you have wished someone would ask you about. Or alternatively, something that you are just really proud of.

I know I’m not exactly answering the question but I’m very self conscious about my English level and getting (gentle) feedback about it can be quite helpful...

— Where do you draw inspiration?

Movies, tv,  books/fics, art, prompts, headcanons, history, songs, life in general (including stupid conversations with my sister 😋)

— What is your immediate reaction when you receive a new comment on a fic?

— What is your biggest challenge in writing?

I usually write in English which happens not to be my native language. I thus lose a lot of time translating and worrying about every word, expression, sentence (because what if it isn’t correct? or doesn’t sound natural? Would people even care about the story or just look down at my pathetic attempt to express myself in another language???). Then they are the other, “classic” crippling fears (is my plot ok? is it not too messed up? did I use the words “like” and “but” too much? did I put too many commas? adverbs? how am I even going to finish this? is it ok or is it the worst thing ever? aaaaaaaaaaghghhg????)

Another big challenge is finding time, focus, energy and inspiration to write (preferably together...)

— 1-2 sentence preview from your current WIP?? (Only if you are willing.)

I already did the WIP Yesterday today (yes I know it’s Thursday 😅)

— What story or scene are you most proud of?

I’d say “As Hidden by Clear Water”, that is my first finished multi-chaptered fic (and includes a few interesting ideas I think) and “Till I See You Again”, which is my first Lokius fic (also I’m a tiny bit proud of the fic’s concept)

How to watch Good Omens Season 2 (legally) for free to help it get renewed

You might feel like you don’t want to give any money to the big studios, especially with the strikes going on, but Neil Gaiman himself thinks that the more successful Season 2 is, the more pressure there will be on Amazon to meet the writers and actors’ demands, and renew the show for a third season. So, we the fans really should watch the show legally, preferably during the first week, and then over and over and over again. The good news is, we can do that for free!

You can go to the Amazon Prime page around the 28th of July and get a free trial for a week or a month, depending your region. You will have to give your card number, but they won’t start charging you until the trial period is over, and you can set a reminder on your phone to cancel it before it ends. Afterwards, you should watch Season 2 (or have it play on the background) as often as possible for a few days at least.

According to Neil, “free trials are to be encouraged”, so go have fun!

10 things for 2023

As we stagger into the new year, let’s share the things we want to do in 2023.

A fic idea you want to write (or read): So many!! One Lokius fic I’ve been wanting to write for quite some time is a Titanic au with a twist, where regular passenger Loki mets undercover TVA agent Mobius. It is inspired by this movie theory, which I don’t actually subscribe to, but that seems to scream Lokius...

As for reading, there are also SO MANY fics I want to read. My problem lately (well, more than ‘lately’ since it started before I had my burnout last year) is that it seems I can either write or read or work or go out, but not more than one of those in a day, if any. Not sure it has something to do with my anxiety, mental fatigue or anything else. And, well, I am sorry for oversharing but I really wanted to say to any fanfic writer (or reader) I’ve interacted with that I am sorry, I am interested in your stories (and intending to work on mine), I am just being slow... (hoping one day it can get better but still loving you in the meantime ❤)

A place you want to go: So many again 😅. Rome surely is one of them!

A book you want to read: The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd is on my list!

Something fun you want to do: Mmm not sure it’ll be fun or scary (maybe both?) but i’d like to try indoor skydiving...

Something you want to make: Find a new job? One I might enjoy without feeling dreadful pressure every day? (and with a good salary while I’m at it...)

A habit you want to start: I’d like to have a more regular sleep pattern.

Something new you want to try: Listening to audiobooks. I never did it and I wonder how it feels?

Something you want to finish from 2022: I have some wips I’d like to finish... (including two Sandman fics I started not long before the end of the year). I should finish to reorganise my bedroom too.

Something you want to stop doing: Letting my anxiety stop me in my tracks when I’m trying to do something I might enjoy.

WIP Wednesday

Lokius. Mobius heartache over not confessing his love for Loki.

Mobius stood there on the sidewalk, his shadow casting a long shadow as the sun went down.

The leaves on the trees were twinged with the red from the sky, the wind making them flap about like someone waving at him.

God, he missed Loki. It hadn’t been that long, but his heart ached and he knew his life would never feel complete ever again.

When Loki had shut themself into the airlock, turned around with that sad look in their eyes and said the worst words in the multiverse, Mobius’ heart had stopped.

"For you, for all of you.”

The very same words Loki had said when they’d let themself fall from the rainbow bridge.

It was a sacrifice this time—it wasn’t giving up—but it was the end. Mobius knew in that moment as he stared at Loki that he’d made a terrible mistake never admitting how he felt about them.

He had thought Loki should have a choice. That if he told them his feelings, it would force Loki into something they might not want just to please him.

They were always so fragile. They hid it well, but they were vulnerable underneath all that bluff exterior.

Mobius sighed. It was too late now. He should have confessed his feelings when he had the chance and now he would need to live with the burden, knowing that Loki might have made a different decision in the end.

Some things never change.

He clenched his hands into fists by his side, then turned around and opened the TemPad and made a few clicks.

"Time to go back.”

Mobius is not just going straight back to the TVA. He's just needs a little more time.

What was your first fandom (reading and/or writing)?

I grew up on Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Star Trek from my mom. So the nerdom has always been strong with me 😂❤️ But the first two fandoms that I actively consumed fan creations for was Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.

First fandom I wrote for and engaged in was the Loki series

What was the first story you ever wrote (even if it was never posted) and what made you decide to write it?

Oh gosh, I’ve been writing as long as I can remember. I couldn’t tell you the first story I ever wrote.

As to why I write, I don’t know either! I’ve always been one lost to daydreams. It’s just always been a part of me. Some days writing/day dreaming feels as natural as breathing. (Other days not so much lol).

What's a piece of advice you would give to your younger fic-writing self?

Write down that idea- even if just a little sentence. And, don’t delete your work. You never know when a seed of an idea might finally come to fruition, could be years later.

What's an early fandom interaction that stuck with you (be it a nice comment, a friend you made, a fic that got a lot of feedback etc.)?

Complicated question. Harry Potter was my first fandom. I vividly remember going to midnight book release parties. To be cliche, they were truly magical. A lot of my childhood and some of my most treasured moments with my family were shaped by Harry Potter.

But now it feels like all those happy memories are tainted by JKR She Who Must Not Be Named’s hate and bigotry.

So instead, I’ll say nothing will compare though to the first few comments I received- or hell the first kudo when I posted my first fanfic in 2021.

I had no online presence (still don’t really lol) and felt like I was just throwing a bit of my soul into the void of the internet. It was is scary! I had no idea who would even read it, let alone enjoy it. I truly treasure each and every comment and kudo. 🥹💖

First paragraph from my first fic, Rising From the Ashes (Aw, nostalgia)

MOBIUS SIGHED, rubbing a weary hand over his face before answering the terrified looking analyst. Greg? Grant? He couldn’t remember. Something with a G or maybe a J. Hell, with the amount of sleep Mobius had received the last two standard weeks, Mobius could hardly remember his own name.

And the last paragraph from my most recent published fic, Becoming His Mobius, Part 2:

Mobius and Loki didn’t know just how much chaos awaited them in their future. But they never looked back. Not once. All of it- the ruined furniture, the ghastly choir recitals, the last-minute science projects, the innumerable number of pranks pulled by their minions of chaos- it was all worth it. To the end of their days Loki and Mobius would never waver from what they decided the day of Frigga’s birth. They were the luckiest people in the multiverse. And from a certain point of view, they were. The impact of their love would flourish throughout the Timelines for long after they’d gone; for all time, always.

If I were to analyze any differences it would be I’ve really given into my indulgence of let’s just keep that sentence or sentiment going. Editing who? 😂 and that’s okay with me.
