A villain prompt I thought of yesterday!

(Gods, the way I love good villains is beautiful and maybe a little twisted and I have so many ideas for villain OCs that I wanna write for)

(I might do it anyway, but would any of you be interested in that kind of thing? And you can even submit your own to that blog too Lol)

if you're trying to get into the head of your story's antagonist, try writing an "Am I the Asshole" reddit post from their perspective, explaining their problems and their plans for solving them. Let the voice and logic come through.

So... I'm not going to bore with the long context and get to the point here.

To anyone who can write characters in a story especially when it comes to using a third person limited pov:

Is it bad to include so much detail for a character and the environment they're interacting with? Paired with that, does it make sense to go into detail when I want to write for the situation from a third person, but through the character's perspective and they are someone who pays deep attention to detail and it matters to *them*? But I look at it, and it looks like a lot, and I'm not sure if it's something that ends up distracting from the flow of the story. So Idk how much is too much with detail (no, it's not like I'm describing every single thing in the room or anything) and Idk if it's better/makes sense to give detail or if it ruins the immersion by giving too much?

(Yes I could be overthinking, I know)

Hello, I’m Will (main blog @write-with-will) and I made an entire writing event bc I wanted fanfic of my OCs /j

Nah, I’m kidding. Writefight is a (hopefully) annual writing trading/gifting event that will take place during the month of January!

There will be two teams, based off of colors (separate post coming soon), which people join. People upload bios of their characters and others write stuff about them!

This is the first time this event has taken place ever, so everything is extremely experimental at this point in time! Constructive feedback is very very much appreciated, and if you run into any issues before during or after participating please let me know so I can address them as soon as possible!

It is based off of Artfight, but I have no direct connection to any of its staff or creators. You do NOT have to have participated in artfight before to participate in this! They are two separate events! Though you will probably have a much better understanding of how this goes if you have TwT

More active + More OC ranting & just ranting

Okay! It's been a while since anything was said here, I was more active on my other acc for a while, but with that one going into a more casual mode, this is the main account and center of activity for me as I get more into creative writing and art.

With that said, I am trying SO HARD to learn how to get into fanfiction, if anyone has some tips on just doing it and not overthinking or freezing and then losing motivation, gods, that would be great!

ANYWAY

I am still wanting to work on the OC I'd made a post on before, I have so much more info to share on him, so I will soon enough!

And I wanna figure out what my art style is now that I'm getting back into character art after a good while of not doing anything with it

OC Brainstorm Sesh - Ep. 1

OKAY We're going to be doing this so I can finally learn to write and be creative more regularly!

AAA I'm so excited

So I have yet to fully be immersed in DND (Haven't found the right group to campaign with yet) but I have played BG3 (not finished), and I do understand the archetypes in DND, or at least I'm learning, but they're already really interesting and fun to theorize with and build OCs from

Point IS

I tend to love the stereotypical Wizard who's an absolute bookworm and has spent ages becoming a master of sorcery. BUT what if we gave him (it's a him now, maybe even a trans him) a personality, a backstory (tragedy included), and an interesting life overall..

Then what if he's an orphan too, who went through a darker past, then came out the other side, finding friends who genuinely care about him?

So should we go with the villain who has a redemption arc and becomes a truly happy person?

Or should we go with the kind heart who starts becoming more and more rotten inside until they become the true villain of the story-

OR THE RIGHT ANSWER- A combination of the two!

The first major arc: The backstory & innocence

The second major arc: Innocence shattered, villain era

The third major arc: Villain era, ends with defeat, realize you're the monster

The fourth major arc: Redemption arc, ends with becoming the better person

The fifth major arc: Not a hero, but not a villain, just a person who's learned a lot along the way

We can rename these!

The Innocence Arc: child - 15

Innocence Shattered: 15 - 19

The Villain Arc: 19 - 23/24

The Redemption Arc: 24 - 28

Finality: 28 - 32

Do I relate HEAVILY to the character? Yes

Is this going to resonate a lot with me? Yes

But goddamn, I'm going to love doing this!

I want the character to have white hair, perhaps in his villain arc, due to the strain on his body from the power he gains?

Okay speaking of, what do we make of the likeness and make-up of the character?

White hair, maybe from something like blue hair that he was born with, though he is human, or a human variant of some kind, as all humans in this world have some attunement to magic or the supernatural, but he has none, absolutely no power. He's 5' 10", he has a slim build, and is transgender too with startling light blue eyes that shift to slightly glowing lavender eyes later after gaining power.

He likes the finer things in life later, but at first is much more humble, and thus, his fashion and hair shows that off:

As a very young boy/man, he's dressed in whatever fits him, and his hair is mostly disheveled

As a little girl, his clothes are more masculine/loose-fitting

As he gets older as an adult, his hair is more sharply cut, and his fashion is much more upper class and garnished

Past his redemption arc, the attitude in his clothing changes little, if only to reflect a less dark aura in it

His personality at first is kind-hearted, innocent, and naive, with a tendency to love to make others laugh, and enjoy the company of people around him. However, with time and tragedy, and a broken innocence, that becomes more a mask and facade, and he becomes greedy, arrogant, deceitful, and untrustful of anyone. Soon after the redemption arc, he's bruised but no longer broken, and scars are healing, so he's wiser now than ever, and he's able to know what happiness is once again.

Also I don't know what to post here, I have no motivation to create stuff Lol And I want to write but it all feels stupid at the same time..

Hoping that the feeling of being a burden to everyone around me and not knowing who to trust goes away soon. I could really use the uplift.

You don't have to force yourself to bounce back so quickly. I read something recently that said "when you come in from a rainstorm, you don't expect yourself to be dry and warm right away", and it really resonated with me. It's okay to take time to dry off and warm up. Take the time you need to process what happened to you.
