She manages to call in a favour to have Derek escorted by a SEAL team to Baghdad to get safely home. No one is more surprised than Derek when he finds himself stupidly attracted to one of the SEAL team.

But… The curse has stopped attacking him?” Merlin really tried to put as much nonchalance into his voice as possible, but Gaius knew him too well. More often than not, when Merlin did something to create problems for himself, he would leave out large parts of what had actually happened. Gaius raised his eyebrow to show Merlin he knew as much. Finally giving up the act, he slumped down in his seat. “I kind of trapped Arthur’s soul in here with me,” he said weakly gesturing toward his head in defeat. Gaius looked back at him with a special kind of fear. The one that came from having to hide something that could most definitely get you killed. Pure exhaustion made his breath feel heavy as it left his lips. “He knows,” Merlin sighed, not even looking at Gaius as he confirmed his silent fear. The cruel tone lacing Arthur’s voice only made him sink deeper. “Of course Gaius knew. After all, you’d need someone to strategize just how you could betray me best.” Merlin tried his best not to let Arthur’s hatred twist the knife buried in his heart any further.

Arthur walks a mile in Merlin's scrappy boots. I loved the depth of emotions that the boys had in this, just both of them coming to understand each other bit by bit. Absolutely beautiful!!

Merlin thinks the department head is a posh, arrogant Classicist, who has no right being so stunning. But workplace relationships never last, and they don't have a single thing in common, including what languages they speak. Then again, some things don't get lost in translation.

I have such a soft spot for classics AU's and this makes me so happy. The love for languages (and each other) is so evident in the writing of Merlin & Arthur's relationship. It's so beautiful to read. Banter is top tear, as is the small miscommunication that leads to them getting even closer as a result.

I do have to say that Arthur's opinions on the Aenied had me arguing with my phone a tad (re: a lot) I enjoyed this so much it's crazy. 10000/10

Derek pauses outside the door, feeling like a creeper. He can’t help but quickly peek in, just to ensure Stiles is OK (or so he tells himself) and immediately wishes he hadn’t. He can see Stiles’ lean muscled shoulders leaning back against the bath edge, his head tipped back, neck exposed, face turned slightly away from the door. Derek sucks in a breath. He really should not be seeing him like this. He looks.... well he looks edible. Beautiful. He’s tinged pink from the steam and his upper back and shoulders show the evidence of the vigorous year of training they’ve had. He didn’t realise Stiles had gotten quite so toned. He can’t see his whole face but he imagines his cute upturned nose and those soft pink lips parted in exhausted pleasure. Derek’s suddenly having trouble with his jeans. He makes a very quiet noise that comes out between a soft growl and a moan when he realises, he’s getting hard.

Day 7: “Where Is That Little Coward?!” by cactuscandle

Merlin froze. The ceiling was unfamiliar. He sat up quickly and stared in horror as the room he was in wasn’t anywhere he recognised. Where was he? What had happened last night? He moved quietly around the room, trying to look for clues. For some strange reason, his body refused to cooperate. Muscles he never acknowledged in his legs complained of strains and his wrist was particularly sore. Everything felt off. All the more reason for Merlin to figure things out. He pushed past the pain, certain his magic would deal with the aches before breakfast. He looked under the bed and in the wardrobe but they were both dead ends. Finally, he turned to the small looking-glass that stood by the fireplace. The presence of it was odd enough and Merlin wasn’t expecting any break-through as his eyes flicked past but the image made him still. That wasn’t his face staring back at him. Or Merlin awakes but he's not in his body? And what has happened to Mordred? How will they fix this before Arthur finds out?

Derek bares his teeth at them, thankfully still human and his nostrils flare wildly. “You’re drunk,” Derek accuses him flatly. “You’re drunk,” Stiles tells Derek nonsensically. “This is the ‘not boyfriend’ I’m guessing?” Ricky looks down at Stiles, eyebrow cocked. Derek full on snarls at that and for the first time in forever, Stiles starts to worry he might lose control of the shift.
