What if your magic system changed with age or changed over time?

Is there a bonding ritual for the magical power to be bestowed?

Do the people in this relationship have to be together for the power to work?

What happens to the other when one party dies?

Is there a way for this "relationship" to be reversed?

This is where the gods grants magical powers based on a character's faith.

If gods grant powers, but they have been forgotten, what happens? What do the gods do?

How can multiple religions interact with the same magic system? How does this affect the ways your people use the magic and whatconflicts can arise from these differences?

Instead of the typical “forces of evil versus forces of light” trope, how could your religious magic system have contrast? What other forces and conflicts could be built around the religious system?

Combine your magic systems! That makes them that much more interesting :)

Terrain Paint Follow-Up Post & Solution

A word in advance: I don't have any real knowledge of the innermost core of the Sims 2 game, I mostly put together pieces of information and see what I can make of it. So using the method that I've used for my spotty lot might not be the best solution. But as it helped me getting my lot back, I'll pass on my experiences. For science. ⚗️

The "history" of the terrain paint problem is described in this post, I will not go into the matter in any further detail for not making the post unnecessarily long.

Without further ado, here's a progress report with the steps I performed and the final result:

I downloaded Mootilda's Lot Adjuster and used the advanced option in order to delete unused terrain paints from the lot. It gave me the message that an error occurred during modification of my lot and that it is unable to continue. The error, I think, was due to me already having deleted the CC terrain paints by hand.

I read a post by Mootilda from which I gathered some information about the terrain paint resources.

Inspired by a link given by goingsimcrazy, I opened the lot file in the neighborhood folder via SimPE (you can easily find out the lot number of a lot by looking at the file's modification date and choosing the one that has been modified last, provided you have visited the lot last) and took a look at the LTTX and LOTG resources.

The LOTG resource had a memory of 239 terrain paints, which I believed was a huge number, because I opened another lot file from the hood that I had never touched and which had only 11. I backed up the lot file and deleted all LOTG resources save for these 11 (using the instance numbers as a guide). I loaded up my game and entered the problematic lot and, lo and behold, the terrain was normal again. HOWEVER, the terrain paints were still forming their square patterns.

Opening the lot file again, I inspected the LTTX resource, where, according to Mootilda, terrain paint names are stored. I didn't know how to edit the file and just deleted the whole resource in hope that it would regenerate itself. I started up the game, went back into the lot and choose the pebble stone terrain. For a second or two it worked: the spray tool made lines on the ground instead of a square pattern .... then my game crashed.

Back in the lot file, I saw that the LTTX had not regenerated, so I made a new attempt by extracting the LTTX resource of the unused lot file (mentioned above) and unpacking it into the troublesome one. My game didn't think this was a good idea and crashed again. Not immediately, but as soon as I opened the terrain paint tab.

Now I decided to go all out and deleted both the LOTG and the LTTX resources, thinking that if both are missing, the game would be left with no other option but to rebuild them. I loaded up the game, rushed into the lot, hurried to the terrain paint, pounced on the spray circle and ..... the lot was back to normal!!!

Conclusion: I still don't know what exactly has lead to the weird terrain texture of my lot. My assumption is that one of the resources in the lot file got corrupted. Mootilda mentioned in her post that an EA bug may limit the number of terrain paints ever used on a lot to 0x32 = 50 and that it has to do with the 0x5CEE resource, which is the control record for all of the terrain instances. I surely exceeded this number (239, what have I done?) and the 0x5CEE got damaged, which resulted in the default lot terrain mingling with another terrain (the garden earth terrain?) and then shining through any other layer of paint that was put over it. When I deleted the CC terrain paints, the control resource got even more broken and tried to deny further use of terrain paints by interfering with the spray tool. A nice fairy tale? Perhaps. I guess I'll never know the truth.

Game Modes

⚙️ According to the website, there are currently four game modes confirmed for the final release:

Domination as it appears seems to rely heavily on control points placed on the map to score “Star Jelly Points” to advance towards either a predetermined score objective, or as a tally to compare with the other team in order to determine a winner once a timer expires.

Wanted Star is what appears to be an upgraded hybrid of Brawl Stars’ “Gem Grab” and “Bounty” mode that relies on accumulating and retaining more Star Jellies when the game ends. If you get KO’d, you’ll lose them all. Compared to that other game, however, this one’s 5 vs 5 and has JUMPING.

Battle Royale speaks for itself, thanks to every last video game out there that calls itself a battle royale. Take on a LOT of opposing Cookies at once and fight on a shrinking map to be the last one standing! Watch out though, EVERYBODY IS OUT FOR THEMSELVES. If you get KO’d anytime during the match, you’re out! No revivals here!

Treasure Hunting is perhaps the most intriguing mode, and the one we know the least about from moderate analyses. What we can extract about this mode is that it is a timed 10 vs 10 mode that takes place on an expansive open-ended island where you must work with your 9 other teammates to find the three treasures while working against the other team and any enemies that just happened to be on the island.

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION:

Every year, IB classes in our school organise Christmas Fair to gather the money and donate. We sell very creative Christmas and New Year decorative greeting cards, books and mostly cookies 🍪, however this year because of the pandemic, we chose to sell cute shaped and decorated soups instead of cookies. We made the soaps at our school in chemistry ⚗️ laboratory and we did pretty great job. We are also the first generation which inserted the game 🎮 "Just Dance Now" where you can cheaply pay to dance in our classroom in pairs or groups and also earned some money 💰 for donation. We have raised more money than any other IB generation and all of us participated in selling our products to the students, teachers and other members of the school 🏫. This year we chose to donate the money to "Udruzenju roditelja djece oboljelih od malignih bolesti" ( "Association of parents of children suffering from malignant diseases").

PERSONAL REFLECTION ON ACTIVITY:

Our Christmas Fair really made mark on our time at IBD programme 😀 in our school considering the fact that our class raised money for the children that are the most in need 🧒👶. Nevertheless, the day of the Christmas Fair 🎄 went pretty well, while we socialised, laughed 😃, and also danced 💃. Additionally, even though we stayed to cell our products almost all day, we did not get that much tired and because of the great atmosphere, the day was shorter than expected. After we heard the great news that we successfully did our job and raised even more money than before, most of us went on a coffee to celebrate 🎊.

✩⚖️⚗️Review:

“Defy the Night” is the Robin Hood retelling I never knew I needed! 

The first book of Kemmerer’s new fantasy series is told from the perspective of Tessa Cade and Prince Corrick. The daughter of an apothecary, Tessa wants nothing more than to help those who have suffered from the mysterious sickness ravaging the kingdom of Kandala. The only known cure in existence is an elixir made from Moonflower petals, but supply is limited and only the nobility can afford to pay the steep prices for extra dosages. Every night, Tessa and her closest companion Wes use the cover of darkness to sneak into the Royal Sector to steal the Moonflower petals from the wealthy and distribute it to the poor, but there is only so much to go around.  

I love how Kemmerer uses Tessa’s character to show that there are two sides to every story. At the beginning of the novel, Tessa despises the royals for doing nothing to stop the people of Kandala from dying. However, her views change once she breaks into the palace and is exposed to the difficulty of maintaining the kingdom’s order with rebellion on the horizon. She learns that both the rebels and the royals are merely doing what they perceive to be right. Neither side is necessarily good or evil, adding complexity to the novel. 

Prince Corrick’s internal conflict throughout “Defy the Night” is well-written and enhances the depth of his character. At the age of fifteen, Prince Corrick is thrust into the role of King’s Justice. Over a period of four years, he becomes the most feared man in the kingdom, doling out cruel punishments to those who go against his elder brother’s rule. He hides away the truest parts of himself—the parts that want so desperately to be kind and good—for the benefit of his brother. Whenever he is around Tessa, however, Corrick is unable to prevent that part of him from rising to the surface. The more time he spends with her, the more torn he feels between choosing who he wants to be and who he needs to be. 

Despite the few clichés that were present and being able to figure out the plot twists ahead of time, I really enjoyed reading “Defy the Night” and immersing myself in Kemmerer’s fantasy world. I look forward to the release of “Defend the Dawn” in the fall!
