as much as I love the common "Tim worships/stalks Jason" trope in TimJay fanfiction because it's Good and making Tim a weird little freak is Fun, I think the underutilized dynamic is where Jason is the one weirdly obsessed with Tim and makes it Tim's problem.

Like, the moment Jason is confronted with the information that a third Robin exists, the first thing he does is cover his wall with pictures of Tim so he can just obsess and torture himself over it. That is the behavior of a man who is Unwell over Tim's existence and I love it.

And as much as a shitshow as The Titans Tower Incident™ is characterization-wise (though I think it has far more merit in depicting Jason's character than people give it credit for but I digress-) there's something very fun about the fact that even after kicking his ass, Jason respects Tim and is impressed by him.

batman: battle for the cowl #2

While Battle for the Cowl is an exceptionally bad comic, especially for its characterization of Jason and the "be my Robin" bit is taken deeply out of context, I do think it's interesting how obsessed Jason is with believing that Tim is extremely competent, only held back by being "brainwashed by Bruce". (hence him leaving Tim for dead later on in the comic.) Jason seeing a darker side of Tim and wanting to bring that out of Tim, wanting to see what Tim could be if he let go of his loyalty to Bruce is so fun to me, tbh.

And in Robin #177, Jason seems genuinely upset Tim doesn't want to work with him. Jason sees such a raw potential in Tim and is obsessed with it, constantly wanting Tim to work for him and see Tim be the type of person Jason is. And despite Tim rejecting him, Jason doesn't shoot to kill Tim. I just cannot get over the fanfic potential of Jason obsessing over Tim, tracking him and seeing what he's capable of and what he could be capable of. Wanting to make Tim see things the way he does. To Tim it's corruption, to Jason it's freedom. Tim trying to 'save' Jason is fun and all, but Jason trying to corrupt Tim? That's even more fun to me. Watching that power struggle between them, Tim unable to get Jason off his heels as Jason gets more and more possessive and bold with each attempt.

And when Jason sees Tim successfully get Gotham back under control after a gang war, he's impressed. He praises Tim, even. And then Tim just. Breaks him out of prison.

The way they're constantly trying to see something in the other that isn't there, hoping the other will come around? That is the most fucked up hate/love dynamic ever. Jason keeps coming back to Tim, keeps trying to find ways to get Tim onto his side. They're always chasing each other. And I think Jason would be the one to confess love first, the one to do anything to make Tim his. And when you consider after all of this, Tim has his Red Robin arc and is at his lowest, getting the closest he ever gets to considering murder? I think it'd be so fun to see Jason take advantage of that and worm his way back into Tim's life and finally push Tim over the edge.

I think that if Miles Edgeworth were to ever have a Tumblr blog it would be entirely Steel Samurai based with a carefully organized tagging system. Sometimes I think Merlin and Arthur started the sacrificing each other to save each other shit too soon into the series.

Then I remember this scene exists.

They moved quickly, but they have a damn good reason for it. I honestly can’t say I blame them.

Merlin learned two things about his destiny with Arthur from this episode:

The first is that Arthur will listen when it matters, but his father’s influence runs deep. Arthur cares more about people’s opinion of him than anything else because he’s been groomed his entire life to become the future king, and Uther is tyrannical in his power so he believes that his is the only way to rule. Arthur picked up bad habits, so while he’s still young and learning what kind of man and leader he wants to be, he could still go either way and Merlin can’t yet trust him to always make the best decisions. (Proved in S1E3 when he enlists Morgana to talk to Arthur about the Afank)

The second thing is that Arthur believes in the systems that Merlin knows to be broken, so he learns it’s better to come to Arthur with results rather than warnings, because Arthur believes the systems in place can help, even in situations where they’d be more of a liability.

Both points are then enforced through season 1 and reinforced by Merlin himself in season 2 onwards.

Arthur learned that Merlin is loyal and honest to a fault, but because of the lifelong grooming as royalty and someone who’s supposed to be “above all others” - as proven when Uther says “his life isn’t worthless, it’s worth less than yours” to Arthur in S1E4 when he denies Arthur a group of men to take to save Merlin - it takes a while for it to really sink in that someone can be loyal and genuinely like him without ulterior motive, and when he finally does recognise that Merlin’s devotion is genuinely sincere, he pushes Merlin away (S2E1) in an attempt to keep himself from getting too close and then hurt by what his father would call his own naivety, rather than just admitting that sometimes people are just bad people who do bad things.

He then subconsciously or not learns that Merlin not being by his side is bad so he keeps him around but at a distance with walls built to protect himself. I can go more into that another time. Uther scapegoats Arthur for a lot, and even acknowledges that he’s a bad parent a few times but never does anything to change the behaviour so his apologies aren’t worth shit. Add that to the genocidal tyranny, and you’ve got a fascinating character who somehow isn’t the main villain of the story. I hate him, he should go play hop scotch on quick sand, but damn is he interesting from a writing/analytical standpoint.

So, yeah, they moved from “if anyone wants to kill him, they can go right ahead. I’ll give them a hand” (-Merlin S1E1) to “…Certain death. Few who have crossed the mountains in search of the Mortaeus Flower have made it back alive” “Sounds like fun” (-Gaius and Arthur S1E4) pretty quickly, but it makes sense when you think about why they moved that quickly with context of how they interact and their (assumed) past experiences.

I wanna break down the FunnyGummy farewell scene real quick because there’s so much to it that it’s making me feral

Pomni catches Gummigoo and it seems like she wants to try and reconnect with him despite knowing that’s not her Gummigoo.

Now I know there’s a lot of people who believe this Gummigoo subconsciously remembers her, but I genuinely think he doesn’t and that he’s a complete factory reset, because you can see just how uncomfortable he feels being followed by a woman who somehow knows his name yet from his perspective they’ve never met.

And if Pomni wants to rekindle the friendship she lost, or at the very least try to explain how she know’s Gummigoo, she’d have to tell him everything.

The fact that he’s an NPC.

The fact that his buddies as NPC’s as well.

The fact that any memories and personality he has are manufactured for the role Caine wants him to play.

The fact that he fucking died.

That’s a lot to dump on a guy just as he’s walking out the door after having a nice breakfast.

And as Pomni’s struggling to make her next move, we then get this little moment

She turns back…to look at Ragatha. (btw I think it’s cute how Rags is having a nice conversation with an NPC she never got to interact with because she was uh…little occupied during that particular adventure)

Ragatha who’s been consistently been making an effort to welcome her and trying to be her friend despite the rough start. Who she finally decided to show her appreciation for her continuous efforts. Who she can still make good memories with.

And it’s here that Pomni realizes that as much as it’d be nice to have Gummigoo back in her life…he’s not real…but Ragatha is. (Which is incidentally exactly when the track “Somebody Real” begins to play in the background here, which is the same track that plays during Pomni’s convo with Gummi in ep 2)

Gummigoo means a lot to Pomni because he’s the first friend she made in the Circus, but she also feels partly responsible for his entire worldview becoming shattered. She doesn’t want to put him through that again, man was devastated the first time he had to learn about what he was.

Not only that, but she also failed to help him feel like a real person when she took him back to the Circus.

It was never going to work out.

So she lets him go, but also gives herself the chance to say a proper goodbye. She gets the much needed closure she was denied when Caine decided to just obliterate him without warning. And Gummigoo gets to go live in complete ignorance and bliss.

I also like to think that the last thing on his mind as he left was “What a strange little character.”

Also…I think Ragatha would be happy to know that Pomni decided to stay and hang out with the rest of them over continuing to “flirt” with the GummyGuy.

Eh... my instinct is to say Harry won't be into casual relationships and one-night stands. I mean, he thought Cho was pretty, but he barely knew her and ended up horrified after kissing her:

He isn't comfortable, and he doesn't even look at her, and he takes the first chance he can get to stop dancing and get away.

(I sorta imagine Harry and Pravati dancing as physically far away from each other as they can, and the mental image is hilarious. Poor Pravati)

Harry, in general, doesn't really look for much physical contact with others, especially people he doesn't know well. But even with those he does know and trust, he doesn't initiate hugs or physical touch often, even in the later books when he starts initiating touch more.

I think he'd be really queasy about intimacy with a person he doesn't know.

That being said, I don't think he's completely touch-averse, even with people he knows less, but he's definitely uncomfortable with it.

He does enjoy the hugs he gets, when he knows the person hugging him and trusts them:

Mrs. Weasley set the potion down on the bedside cabinet, bent down, and put her arms around Harry. He had no memory of ever being hugged like this, as though by a mother. The full weight of everything he had seen that night seemed to fall in upon him as Mrs. Weasley held him to her. Since book 4 the various Weasley boys (Bill, Ron, and the twins) clap Harry on his shoulder or back, and he picks up the habit in HBP. In the later books, he does initiate physical touch with Ron, Ginny, Hermione, and other Weasleys:

Laughing, Harry broke free of the rest of the team and hugged Ginny, but let go very quickly. Avoiding her gaze, he clapped a cheering Ron on the back instead as, all enmity forgotten, the Gryffindor team left the pitch arm in arm, punching the air and waving to their supporters.

He doesn't touch others often, but when he loves people and feels comfortable around them, he does. But it's based on his comfort and trust levels, so I can only see him having casual sex in a freinds with benefits scnario where he knows the person beforehand.

Another thing I want to note is that Harry is really good at hiding his discomfort with touch since he doesn't feel like he's "allowed" to show his discomfort. See above with Pravati, who isn't aware that something is wrong at first and believes his lies initially. Or in PS and DH, when crowds are moving forward to touch him and he lets them out of a sense of politeness:

And in DH, he actually feels like he must be there to talk and clap hands, uncomfortable and tired as he is becouse he knows he is a symbol. In that above scene, he hardly belongs to himself in a sense. He is there as the Boy Who Lived, not as Harry.

But no, I don't think Harry would be into one-night stands with strangers; it seems to me he'd be uncomfortable with it.

The newest chapter kinda explains why Heinkel and Reinhard’s relationship gets fixed in Pride If when Wilhelm is erased. 

For starters—Wilhelm never actually yelled at Reinhard that he was the reason Theresia died

Arc 9, chapter 28 spoilers:

because:

—Heinkel didn’t let Wilhelm apologize and talk to Reinhard ever again until arc 5. Heinkel is the reason Wilhelm dedicates himself to revenge. 

And it’s only when Wilhelm gets erased, that Reinhard can forgive Heinkel for everything and get a relationship with him. Which implies, he can’t forgive Heinkel for what Heinkel did to Wilhelm.

That's the one thing he can't forgive.

Their broken relationship wasn't because of Wilhelm’s actions, Heinkel was behind everything all along. 

Heinkel and Reinhard getting along when Wilhelm gets erased goes from “awww, family bonding,” to “ewwww, he doesn’t have all the information, that’s kinda yikes.”  An undeserved redemption of sorts.

I keep seeing a lot of misinterpretation when it comes to Ayato's and Yui's relationship, which is completely understandable.

BUT, I feel like we should at least be open to understanding their dynamic a bit more, considering that their relationship is a representation of how these two fleshed out, individual characters with their own archetypes and narratives interact with one another, and the kind of chemistry that festers between the two.

I heavily emphasize on the "understanding" part, because yes, they are 2D characters, but I'd like to go on a whim here and say the creators used these fictional people as a sort of criticism on the kind of society we live in, and how we as people view the differences between good and bad and where the line starts to blur and intertwines.

People will often mistake Ayato's abuse and trauma as just his personality entirely, which while his past may have had affected the way he interacts with others, I'd like to say that it doesn't absorb him completely, and to back this up, I'd like to reference Laito.

Unlike the rest of his brothers, Laito is completely unique to us the viewers, because of his lack of actuality and genuinity. Yes we can attribute both traits, or rather, lack thereof, to the other brothers, but at their core, they all have a defining cause, a motivation, something that separates them from their trauma. And they don't consistently hide it, they don't hide what makes them, them.

So when talking about Ayato, I feel like people look at his trauma and immediately think "he's selfish and stuck up because he was raised to be the best", BUT, who else do we know that was raised to be the best??

That's right, Shu. Shu was quite literally raised to be king of the bat clan. But yet, him and Ayato have two completely different personalities, so I'd like to say there must be that defining factor in there that causes and pushes them to be the way they are. I'd also like to take this chance to say, this is where I think the creators are giving a certain critique on child rearing and whether or not you've grown to be hysterical, maniacal, sadistic, masochistic, unmotivated, competitive, etc. it all stems from a greater problem within society and no matter HOW different you might think yourself to be, the root cause of multiple personality disorders, comes from child abuse. Which we can see just how far it spirals, evil breeds evil after all, and in this case the "evil" here, being attributed to domestic abuse.

(Sort of like a Neon Genesis Evangelion thing going on)

But anyways, I digress.

What I'm trying to get at is, he's quite LITERALLY more than his trauma. We often forget that he's a vampire and has lived through thousands of years, falling in and out of love and lust. Due to the very nature of being a vampire, it's clear to see that Ayato's unaccustomed to growing attached to, in their world, a piece of chocolate or even an old burger. (Yes I am referencing Spongebob, sue me) it'd be seen as stupid to begin to form feelings and bond with your food, unnatural even. I think a large part that makes up Ayato is the fact he's always in doubt of himself, even when he thinks he's known everything, some mystical force out there has to prove him wrong and shake his very system of belief. Rupture everything he's ever known and everything he's ever grown up knowing and practicing. This is why he'll often be seen taking out his frustrations on Yui, because like it or not, she is the cause of his turmoil, paired with his trauma.

I think this is where it's important we understand their dynamics because it goes a loooot deeper than their characters might even seem capable of.

I'll do another post talking about Yui tomorrow and then one final one explaining where they fit into each other and how their character archetypes pair really well, even if it's not the healthiest relationship, it still displays their characters in their truest forms

okay so i was doing a skim re-read of the cruel prince trilogy the past few days for a character analysis and it got me thinking about jude and cardan as characters in terms of their core motivations and weaknesses

in the beginning, we see jude's weakness primarily as her mortality, but over the course of the books, we also see her mortality as a strength (allowing her to lie and spy, etc). her mortality also underscores her core character motivations, which are ultimately to be respected in faerie and to protect herself and her family, especially oak.

cardan's motivations are slightly harder to read. i think his weaknesses are mainly driven by his neglect and abuse as a child/teen, his main weakness being a belief that he doesn't deserve love. in the first book, it seems that many of his actions can be explained by a desire to avoid responsibility, but i see this more of a superficial symptom of his deeper motivation, which is to hide his true emotional vulnerabilities (i.e. if he pretends he doesn't care what anyone thinks, maybe it will make him stop caring so much)

in the end, both cardan and jude have a similar underlying motivations and weaknesses. they are motivated by a desire to 'make up' for their weaknesses, and both of them struggle to fit in to their families, albeit in different ways.

Just wanted to add a little something that I started thinking abt after reading a few of your really cool posts, I think we should also discuss abt how Bruce's argument abt killing (with Jay) are often framed with "you're not the judge, jury & the executioner" which is really telling of who he thinks can exersise this legitimately? ? ?

I think it'd be constructive to actually properly discuss this aspect of Bruce's philosophy too. Plus, we get more nuanced Bruce characterisation. (Also keeping in mind uh... comic book propaganda of the writers and DC themselves)

YES ABSOLUTELY! Like what if someone is given a death sentence by a court of law? Does Bruce still care? I'm sure most writers would tell you no because Bruce has become a cop allegory. He's a violent enforcer of the law, and he seeks to uphold the law. Which is a recent switch! Batman comics used to be more radical, but now they're being written by old white men. So it's another one of those things where you can ignore it for your PERSONAL INTERPRETATION but you can't say that it's not A Thing because it's been like this for at least a decade.

His argument would likely be that everyone deserves a fair trial, that everyone has the right to be seen in court. Something which I do think Jason would agree with because when he's being written well he's not just shooting petty criminals! Jason's stance comes in with the big players, the disgustingly rich or well connected upper class who get away with murder. This has been true since the Garzonas case, the whole point was that Felipe was virtually immune to the law, and Jason couldn't allow that.

I think what it comes down to is whether they believe in reformative justice or punitive Justice, and I can most assuredly say that Batman believes in the latter. You can argue that Bruce is an advocate of prison reform but we don't really have evidence of that. He considers himself a punishment for criminals, he considers himself an equalizer but that's not true because he just delivers criminals into a system that is fundamentally corrupt and unfair. Do you actually think a trial in GOTHAM of all places is going to look at a rich man vs a petty crook the same way? That rarely happens even in real life.

And I don't think that Bruce does what he does out of inherent malice. Bruce is a deeply empathetic person, the core of Bruce Wayne is that he cares. But that's not enough, Bruce was allowed to grow up sheltered and it gave him an intrinsic idealism. He only has a Birdseye view of what the common people go through, that is not enough to stand there and say that he understands . Because he doesn't. He literally can't. And I think this bias, certainly one projected by the writers but that's another issue, comes through the most with Jason and Steph.

As far back as Jason's Robin era - widely regarded as Bruce's peak of being a good dad - he still makes some pretty big mistakes. Because he finds this homeless kid whose family has been ripped apart by the corrupted systems, who has actively experienced the worst Gotham has to offer, and he comes to the conclusion that if he doesn't take Jason home Jason will inevitably become a criminal even after Jason explicitly says he doesn't like stealing. So he takes Jason in but he makes that position as his son synonymous with Robin. And this is where we have to talk about meta because Jason is intrinsically tied to meta narratives. I'm not sure if you saw my other posts about Robin, as a concept, but I'll summarize here.

Child sidekicks are fine, in early comics. When things were campy light hearted whodunnit mysteries with a few action sequences, when you always knew that the child hero would come out unscathed, would always live till the next issue. And so when Bruce makes Jason Robin you have this veil of suspension of disbelief. But Jason's era is where you start seeing these kids' storylines get worse. More gruesome, more violent, more cruel. They start really testing the limit of Bruce's morality.

Batman: The Cult - Robin Jason has to crawl through a pile of dead bodies and while Bruce is having a mental break this MAYBE 14 year old is trying to get them out. The Diplomats Son - Jason watches a rapist be let go, because he's powerful and his dad has money. He sees exactly the kind of damage it does to the victims, he's the one who finds Gloria Stanson. A Death in the Family - Jason is murdered. Tortured and murdered and betrayed. He's dead and he was always intended to STAY dead. And all throughout Tim's run and then into Steph's the writers retroactively change everything about who Jason was because it has to be HIS fault, because if it's not Jason's fault then it might be Bruce's. Because how can audiences see Bruce as just and good for taking in new kids after what happened to the last one?

The suspension of disbelief shatters. Because now Jason is back and he's angry. Because maybe we as readers know that Tim, and Steph, and Damian need to be Robin because Robin makes money with young readers. But you know who doesn't know that? Jason, who no doubt assumed that his survival depended on being Robin. Who was sold out because he was Robin. Who was badmouthed and disgraced the entire time he was gone by people he loved and trusted. Jason doesn't know that he's in a comic book, but I argue he knows he's in a Batman story.

If not from his first appearance then definitely in recent ones. What can you do besides lay down and forgive and keep coming back when you know that the universe revolves around one man? How do you get rid of the terror and anger at realizing that you can never leave, that no matter how much he hurts you the universe will bend itself in half so that he is still just and right? When you realize that the love that has defined you is a disease rooted so deeply that to rip it out would be to kill yourself, that you can't even stay dead because Bruce does not want you to be.

And they couldn't even stick to Jason being the problem! Because then Steph dies. And all I could think was "Of course she did. She's an East End girl whose been compared to Jason constantly. Or a version of him. Of course she would be tortured to death trying to get Bruce's approval." Here we are, history has literally repeated itself, and...Tim is Robin again. Why? Because this is a comic book, and Batman needs Robin.

But what do you think everyone in-universe thinks? What do you think that looks like? How can you possibly still call Bruce a good parent under these circumstances? Bruce calls Robin a blessing, a gift, a necessity. He relies on Robin, physically to watch his back and emotionally to keep him in line. He trains them, he molds them, he loves them.

But sometimes love just isn't enough and the good Robin does shouldn't negate the harm they get in the process. Robin then becomes this horrible force of change, you get it and you know that this has doomed you, one way or another. Because Bruce believes that suffering is noble, that pain can reform people. It's baked into his character. Even if he doesn't intend to hurt his kids, it's not like we haven't seen him justify it to himself and others. "I love you, I did this for your own good, I thought I could help you, it was your fault I did that, it won't happen again, I lost control of myself but only this once, we can be a family again if you just come home." It reads an awful lot like an abuser trying to convince you or himself that he's not in the wrong.

This was longer than I intended it to be, but I guess my main point is that Bruce and Batman can't ever be fully separated. Something that I think his relationship with Cass shows us he's aware of but chooses to ignore. We know that Batman is dangerous, that he wouldn't hesitate to hurt his kids, we saw that with Zurr-Batman (WHO BRUCE ADMITTED WAS A FACET OF HIMSELF YOU CAN'T SAY IT WASN'T HIM BECAUSE HE HIMSELF SAID THAT IT WAS). So why try and act like it's this impossible out of character thing for Bruce to be harmful? For his kids to feel angry and hurt about his actions or for their feelings to be as or more valid than Bruce's. Batman has and will hurt his kids and Bruce will try to rationalize it all away because he loves them, he would never want to hurt them. And the narrative will tell us that Bruce is right, that this is good and fair and just, that Bruce's perspective is the correct one, that his kids deserve this, because this is a comic book and outrage sells. Or they'll retcon it and pretend it never happened. Or they'll just never bring it up again. Or Bruce will be forgiven regardless just to hammer home how good and right he is.

Because this is a comic book about Batman, and Batman is a hero, he is our protagonist, and so he is reliable and we should never doubt him, or call him out, or be mad at him. Naturally.

A/N: Please lmk if I missed anything, I wrote this in one go in the middle of the night bc I was in my feels for this man, I am down bad horrendous, truly. I adore his character/arc sm. I am also apparently unable to write anything under 2k, noted.

Silvio always shuddered at your touch, but these days it's lessened. After officially becoming engaged, as long as it wasn't unexpected, he found himself less inclined to pretend he didn't enjoy it. That he didn't fawn internally over every one of your smiles, laughs, hugs, kisses, sighs, and I love yous. He's already let slip multiple times how cute he finds you, how much he respects you and cares for you, and how cute he finds you. Silvio still blushes every time, and shows his affections in awkward and tsun ways at times too; but his actions have always spoken louder, or rather yelled, compared to his words.

Taking on extra work just to finish ahead of time to take you on a date, or travel, or just spend time together. Doting on you when you're sick, tired, stressed, or generally unwell somehow. Carried you everywhere when you sprained an ankle. Called off and rescheduled work to take care of you when you had a fever. Would love you if you were a worm rabbit. Learned to lean into simpler tastes, learned to trust you; something so foreign to the man who believed he didn't even have any friends.

Silvio learned to have a little faith in humanity again after meeting you, after hurting you in his fear and spite, after apologizing and making up for it to win you over again, and still feeling like shit every day for it, wondering why you'd ever "settle" for him. He looks in the mirror some days, noticing how happy he looks, and pauses. Had he ever smiled like that before? Who was this man standing before him?

Makes love to you, explores with you, always focuses on your pleasure, as long as it takes for you to warm up, to feel good, or to make your way from start to finish. For someone with so much experience, but such distaste for others and their ways, he's surprisingly skilled in the ways of doing so, you think. Someone who didn't care as much as he said he did wouldn't have even bothered to pay attention.

He's always respected your consent, boundaries, and stamina, even if he's left hanging. You two didn't even get physical yet for awhile, and not just because work was insanely busy. It was partly due to Silvio giving you space at first, but also because he wanted to give everything time to sink in, to experience and appreciate your love for each other and all you've overcome so far.

Both in and out of bed, he pampers you and treats you like the royalty you'll soon be. Washes your hair, always takes care of you after any physical intimacy, bubble baths, massages, brings you flowers and things he'll think you like, or caves when you ask him for a favor, ridiculous as it may be, just to see you smile at him, knowing that he's the only one who makes you do so that way.

The thought of marriage still feels surreal to him, but he knows he wouldn't want to experience this with anyone else. To have something so fulfilling, so selfless and honest, in ways that have made him hope for the future. He's soon to be king, and you, his royal spouse. More thoughts come unbidden, ones he'd much rather put off, still too much to work through.

Would he be a good parent? Would you? Would he turn out like his father? His mother? Could he truly hold them and love them unconditionally? Or would he get stressed and drink again, trying to hide from his responsibilities? The very thought of doing so goes against his caring nature, repulsing him immediately. A strong sign that even if it's a bit of tough love, he'd still love and protect them the same way he does you.

Every night, when not out at sea, he returns home to you, to your shared room, falling asleep with you in his arms, hearts beating together as you drift off. Sometimes he'll fall asleep first, or wake up first, and wholly take in the sight of you. He might even muse aloud again, and if you're lucky, you might be awake to hear it.

He'd do anything to redo how he was when you'd both met. There's still a lifetime ahead together to make things right, to redeem himself for his past. But deep down, it's himself he has to convince, because you already know how selfless and loving he can be, even with those he's had a complicated past with. Little by little, he's begun to heal, to grow, to be less dependent on the ways he used to escape his reality. He's more present than ever now, and grateful for it.

Silvio swears he's going to go mad from how you consume his every thought. The cliché of wanting to wake up beside you, spend his day working to see you again, to hold you while the land of dreams beckons. He hates how easily you make him blush, fawn, react, and feel. But most importantly, Silvio's a big fat liar. Because he's never hated how much he cares about you, not even a little bit.

At its core the most important relationship arc in Avatar the last air bender is the one between Zuko and Aang honestly if you can’t see that then I don’t think we watched the same show.

Aang and Zuko are the true Yin and Yang in the show the push and pull. Fire and Air right down to their personalities.

It is both of them that have to go on the journey of learning that fire is more than just destruction can be used for more than just to hurt.

And that right there is the point it doesn’t matter if Aang defeats Ozai and they bring the fire nation to heel. Without a character like Zuko the fire nation would be lost forever to distrust and unrest, balance would never be reached. Because despite everything they have done all the damage they have wreaked the world still needs the fire nation and to work with the fire nation they need to know that fire can do more than hurt. And who best to show them than a prince who’s been burned himself?

The war started with the fire nation attacking the air nomads in a bid for control and it will end with the fire lord embracing an air nomad and taking ownership of his nations actions. You must first close a book before you can start a new one.

Aang needed Zuko just as Zuko needed him because to get peace a true lasting peace you can’t just cut off the head of a snake you have to change its mind. The world already lost the air nomads the balance is already precarious, it cannot afford to lose the fire nation too.

Afterall Air can snuff out a flame and it can also fan them. But when the two elements are balanced one existing in peace with the other it can also make a warm hearth for the home.

Just got done with the yellow jackets scene where shauna gave birth. Genuinely so sad. It really shows how much pain she went through in those woods, and how that moment specifically STILL affects her. That was the first, and only baby she ever let herself get close too. Even though yes at first and during most if not all of her pregnancy she didn't want him, in her dream she learned to love him, actually felt him, felt the terrifying fear of losing him when he wouldn't feed and she couldn't feed him and then feeling the insane amount of hope when he FINALLY breastfeed. "I can't wait to see the person you turn into" "it's you an me against the world kid". She got the illusion of having her baby just to have it ripped away from her in the worst way possible. To be back on the make shift, dirty birthing table, surrounded by girls who don't know what their doing, being told after everything she believed was true, after all the PAIN she's been through he's gone. When she finally realizes her baby is gone she then lays it to rest, once again repeating the phrase "it's you and me against the world kid". Absolutely devastating.

The way it affects her relationship with callie too in the future, we can see her so clearly keep her away. She refuses to get close because she cannot imagine losing another baby. She admits it several times in the show, but we can so clearly see it when she finds Lotties honey farm retreat thing and she is tasked to take care of the goat. Genuinely such a misunderstood and complicated character
