hey dude, i know you mean well for the ol community, and i think you're really cool and have been following you for a while, but i really don't think all this shitting on rose is justified. spreading callout posts by taking shitty things people have said out of context, especially queer poc, is a real tactic used by terfs to spread discourse and isolate queer people from communities, and it's worked so well that queer people have started doing the same to their own with really good intentions, but the overall effect is nonsense discourse and the spread of hatred. kab herself has publicly said that she and rose have a good relationship and that she thinks most of rose's impact on the games and community has been really helpful for checking her own biases. the screenshots and shitty things you've read about her are not the full story, and yes, i do agree that rose handled certain things really really shittily and i am not excusing that at all, but rose isn't a bad person at all, what the callouts show is out of context and does not show rose accurately as a person, and the degree of hatred for a group of people honestly trying to create a safe space for queer people is wildly disproportional. i really hope this doesn't come off as any way accusatory, because it really isn't, and i really look up to you as a creator. i just want you to be aware that this is something that has been settled by the people involved, and continuing discourse and wanting rose fired goes directly against kab's own wishes and is based on misinformation. thanks for reading this far. please have a wonderful day

I do not repost these call out post to be malicious or start a hate campaign like some people have been accusing others of.

I do not encourage witch-hunting or harassment of Rose or Kab ; As they are people and make mistakes , even if the mistakes are extremely shitty and I understand that those screenshots were a private conversation but frankly , I think some of the stuff Rose said was extremely odd and vulgar , context or without.

I am not in the official OL server so maybe your right about them not being as bad but even if that was the case they should still be let go of the role as sensitivity reader because they’re views aren’t open minded and its ironic that they are supposed to help prevent bias and keep the game inclusive when they’ve shown a weird rhetoric and the paper bag comment actually made my jaw drop.

OL has been one of the most comforting things to me , I was in a really dark place when I started a new save file and fell in love with all the characters and the game so believe me when I tell you I would never want to attack the very person who created and brought me that comfort. It physically exhausted me and upset me yesterday when it all came to light , considering it has been a huge hyperfixation and boosted my self esteem.

I don’t care if GB is okay with their friends talking an insane amount of crap behind their backs. It's not my business, I just think that they need better friends.

Even with this in mind, I can’t continue my support for Kab if they decide to keep Rose on the development team, not purely just because of what they said in private but how they treated my friend. The both of them are insinuating that they’re a “liar” or that they “overreacted” when they just wanted to express a grievance. And a surprisingly large number of people are harassing them and accusing them of starting a “racist campaign” towards Rose when they are a trans minority as well. If the fandom is so quick to villainize my friend for simply speaking out then frankly I don’t want to be a part of this fandom.

let me make something very clear: this is a harrassment campaign. someone violated the privacy of members of a private server and posted out of context screenshots to reddit, specifically targeting rose. the screenshots were parts of larger discussions and the parts screenshotted were of fucking jokes between friends or comments exagerrated due to frustration. then another person butted in for whatever reason. i hope they're proud of joining in on the absolute dogpiling.

yall are acting like you never had conversations with friends where you were catty/mean about something. newsflash, everyone has. that's what you do with people you trust. it's really not as fucking deep as you people are trying to make it out to be, vilifying a person YOU DON'T KNOW for a bunch of shoddliy put together screenshots. i'm being mean right fucking now because you have no idea how much distress you're causing real people. are you gonna tone police me too? tell me how i should be nicer as i speak to the people harrassing my friend? give me a fucking break.

I have been a hater lately so I'm changing that up.

I have my grievances with Baxter dlc, I admit, but I don't hate it I think it's wasted potential which is unfortunate because Baxter is an extremely interesting character.

He's out of place in the our life universe because of how messy he is, the OL universe is very idealistic so Baxter is the more down to earth character that we have in a realistic sense.

I genuinely feel like in order to appreciate Baxter as a character you have to appreciate the absolute mess that he is, not only as a character but as a dlc as well, because again my issues with his dlc is that is a hot mess and it doesn't even know what it wants to do, especially with the lack of choice on the players part. Something that is especially clear in his step 4 and I do genuinely think his step 4 is the whole reason why this dlc left me unsatisfied, because step 3 was such an amazing build up.

We get to know him and how he is as a person, how he constantly feels like he has to put this charming mask and being embarrassed of his more human side, that's one of the reasons why drinks is one of my favorite moments, and we also get to see that due of this façade he feels the need to keep his relationships at an arm distance, hence why he cut out everyone from golden grove, and also why I adore planning. So when the break up happens is both heartbreaking but somehow foreshadowed, and that is so interesting to see on a writing stand point because we knew that he would cut us off, now we just know why.

And then....step 4 comes in ...and...

It is just, it's really messy, especially because Baxter in the wedding dlc was willing to start over so... seeing him ignore mc and projecting what he thinks mc thinks of him was, so disappointing.

This whole dlc is just so disappointing to me because the hype was there!! We had an extremely interesting character that cuts you off, that you can break up with, you can have legit drama in this except....no you don't. Because mc has little to no agency In his dlc, because Kab didn't finish writing this and had someone else finishing it for her, because he feels off as an our life character since he was originally an xoxo droplet character, and also because conflict in our life is always kinda awkward .

I think another reason why step 4 didn't work, is because it's clearly meant to be played as a romantic route when the game advertises itself as being able to do both, but you can't in his dlc and worse of all you guys can't leave each other as just acquaintances. I get that Is the game mechanic but I also think Baxter should have been the exception because he's not ready to be in a romantic relationship.

I played my first run on a romantic relationship and it felt odd, it felt fast, with cove and derek is easier because you've known them for years, you've known Baxter for 3 months after he breaks your heart and he hasn't changed a bit on how his ways.

And again is just really really disappointing because Baxter is such an interesting character to analyze because he's an absolute loser who thinks he's punk but he's not, and who clearly has issues but doesn't know how to handle them AND THEN YOU SEE THE FANDOM NOT SEEING THE ABSOLUTE MESS THAT HE IS AS A CHARACTER AND JUST MAKES HIM THIS DOM DADDY PERSONALITY, and it's so disheartening because I remember when the dlc first dropped everyone was making fun of him, then something changed and suddenly everyone praises his mediocre ass, not for being mediocre but because everyone thinks he's hot and is just 😟

I hate it because writing his dynamic with Pandora and Taliyah (my mcs hi) is so so interesting and makes me explore more things about their personalities, so I just hate that the canon is the way that it is when I know Kab can write good shit and this...felt kinda mid

This sound silly isn't it ? You probably heard it before and at this point this even seems non important but it is ! Internet has spread a culture of stealing that people overlook and who is directly harmful to creators. People assume that fanarts are free for the public and that if you don't want it reposted, well just don't show it ? Well this is not how it works, an artist is not suppose to bend to that. You like someone's work ? Help them being see instead of stealing their work for your own appreciation or selfish grow as a repost account.

When and how to credit an artist ?

-If you use a fanart as your icon or in a post, drop the @ of the original artist or directly link their account in a place everyone can see like your bio or a pinnef post. This also count if you comissionned fanart, the art is yours but still made by someone else.

-if you directly repost art as a post ask the original artist if they allow it and credit them by giving their @ or directly tagging them in the post. If you have a nice art but don't know the artist : DON'T POST IT

You don't know the artist = you don't have their consent = you don't have the right to post it

You can usualy find the original artist by searching directly with the pic of the artwork. Once you found them, make sure to know if they allow repost and then you are allowed ( still with credit )

Credits such ass "???" "credit to the artist" "unknown artist" are just disrespectful.

Why do you care so much about credit ?

An artist put a lot of time and effort in what they create, some fanarts even include their own mc. Art is personal to their creatore and seing it being reposted without consent hurt.

Lot of people who repost often get a better reach than the original artist because they post a lot ( stealen work ) and work better for algorithmes like on Instagram. Wich lead to instance where original artists works get more attention when posted by stealer.

Why is it bad ? Because this attention is what makes artist grow. Artist create a comunity of people who like their creation and who share comon interest. Growing a comunity mean having more chance of getting seen, comitioned or shared to build a réputation.

If you like an artwork and want to see more of it, reshare account with not credit are walls, you gain nothing and the original artist loose possible fans.

And simply, stealing is bad because it hurt the person from who you steal from. Please don't.

I know many don't really think much, they just want to use pretty art as their icon and don't think of any harm when doing so, but it can impact other so as much as possible, try to credit.
