"Would you still love me if I was a wyrm?"
In a loose (and bloody) retelling of the King Lindworm folktale set against the backdrop of 1980s Milwaukee, two people try to navigate their unorthodox romance while an arcane, snake-like infection afflicts, and starts to change, one of them.

introduction perhaps?
My name is Stevie or Kelly, I use any pronouns and prefer neutral language most of the time! I don’t really like labelling my gender or sexuality. I’m a mediocre artist and writer, a plant parent, vinyl collector, a saxophonist, a cat enjoyer and Just A Little Guy. I’m also autistic!
My interests have always seemed to revolve around music, as I am very much sensory seeking when it comes to audio. My favourite artists at the moment are Barenaked Ladies, The Tragically Hip, The Highwaymen (and their solo careers), Melanie (Safka), and Stompin’ Tom Connors. I also have a shrine to Willie Nelson and I’m a recovering Bob Dylan fan /j (I still like him)
As for other forms of media, I’m a big fan of The Muppets and Fraggle Rock, South Park (only Ned and Jimbo and the Marsh family at this point), Garfield, King of The Hill, Stagecoach 1986, BTTF trilogy, Stardew Valley and Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid.
You can find me on discord, toyhouse, instagram and twitter as shitandpissworldtour! Here’s my carrd https://canadianstereotype.carrd.co/ . My art is all tagged under #stevie draws and my commissions are always open

Hello there, this is Lt. Ellen Ripley! Since surviving the tragedy on the Nostromo, I’m still managing to stay alive with my cat Jonesy and adoptive daughter Newt. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
I may not always be available to answer right away, but I’ll get to them when I can. 💙

Legend of Zelda (1986) Review
I decided to play the OG game from 1986 on my Switch in honor of beating TotK and it was certainly something. I really enjoyed it. I definitely prefer the other games because I grew up with them, but I can appreciate where they came from. So much of LoZ as we know it today come from this little game from the 80s. The enemies, for example. This game introduced octoroks, the gleeok, keese, lyke lykes, and wizzrobes. These overworld enemies are well-known in the LoZ community and their humble beginnings came from the og.
The dungeon design was also really cool. Each dungeon had its own unique design with mini bosses, hidden stairwells, items, and various enemies. While the graphics were limited, this game def made up for it with a challenging dungeon design. I really liked the uniqueness of each location and the challenge of finding it.
This game DOES NOT hold your hand. Unlike other LoZ games, it lets go of your hand from the get go and trusts that you will figure stuff out. Lots of games mark the location for you and that’s not a bad thing. However, I liked that this game gave the player the opportunity to poke around and find things on their own. That being said, some of these dungeons were hard to find and I did need an online guide every now and then.
The fight with Ganon at the end was also really cool. While not a hard fight, especially when compared to his successors, the developers still found a way to make it unique. Ganon disappears and the player must find him by slashing Link’s sword. That’s a cool way to utilize the most iconic villain of the franchise in his first outing. Ganon is tricky so why not make a master of disappearing?
This game is also challenging because of the various enemies. I don’t think I’ve ever hated wizzrobes as much as I did in this game. But hey, it is the first game of an iconic franchise so it has to make a good first impression.
Overall, a neat start to his wonderful franchise. So many elements come from this game and if you guys do manage to find a copy, I highly recommend giving it a play through. Who knows, you might find Link, Zelda, and Ganon’s first trip through Hyrule and exciting and adventurous one.

Prince and the Revolution - Raspberry Beret 1985
"Raspberry Beret" is a song written by American musician Prince and was the lead single from Prince & the Revolution's 1985 album Around the World in a Day. The Revolution is a band formed in 1979 by Prince, serving as his live band and later as his studio band. Their sound incorporated rock, pop, R&B, funk, new wave and psychedelic elements. Along with Prince's other projects, the Revolution helped create the Minneapolis sound. By the time of their 1986 breakup, the Revolution had backed Prince on two studio albums, two soundtracks and two videos. Around the World in a Day is the seventh studio album by Prince, and the second release on which the Revolution is billed.
The sound of "Raspberry Beret" expanded upon previous Prince arrangements, incorporating stringed instruments, Middle Eastern finger cymbals, and a harmonica in the extended version. The song was also more in the pop vein than before, though the 12-inch single and video of the song feature a funky intro. The song hit number one in Cash Box and reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 (behind "A View to a Kill" by Duran Duran), but only reached number 25 on the UK Singles Chart. Following Prince's death, "Raspberry Beret" re-charted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 33. The music video was directed primarily by Prince, with animation created by Colossal Pictures co-founder Drew Takahashi.
"Raspberry Beret" received a total of 72,9% yes votes!

wtf HOW WAS ROMULUS OZZIE Hello??????? I CANT WAIT TO WATCH ITRTR i miss david 8 tho 😓😓 “you finger and i blow” ok gorgeous whatever you say
Tumblr media
Ok ok, I let it sit overnight so I could formulate a less feral opinion. I'll do my best to be objective, though you should keep in mind that I'm very biased when it comes to the Alien franchise.
Alien: Romulus First Impressions
Plot. The movie takes place between Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986). If you've seen the old Alien movies, you will notice it follows the same formula: somewhat slow beginning, a grand reveal, a lot of high-stake escape attempts, shady android behavior, and the classic, speedy succession of plot twists where you think you're safe, only to be surprised the very next moment.
While this movie is meant to behave more like the pre-2000 releases, it does bring some novel elements, which, in my opinion, helped build its own authenticity. Additionally - and without spoiling you - it will involve its own Xenomorph variation. Fantastic idea, and I cannot believe it hasn't been done earlier.
The cast is a group of orphaned youngsters who want to escape their space mining colony. You're introduced to a dystopian, grimy world of overworked humans who've never seen the light of the sun. The main character, Rain, is accompanied by her "brother", Andy, an android programmed to take care of her after the death of her parents. Here's another aspect I enjoyed: an anxious, imperfect android who seems to display an emotional bond with his human.
Rain's friends discover a shipwreck which may contain enough sleeping pods to take them away from these unbearable conditions. Their plan is to sneak in, take the pods, and speed away to a more humane station while in cryosleep. The twist? It's not just any regular ship. They have stepped into the Romulus and Remus research station, operated by Weyland-Yutani, and haunted by yet another failed attempt to contain the Xenomorph horrors.
Characters. Let me tell you, this was a breath of fresh air. Prometheus and Covenant have left me rather skeptical when it comes to a competent cast, yet from the ashes of pathetic military personnel rose a bunch of kids who are built for survival. Rain reminded me so much of Ripley - extremely intelligent, efficient, and strong. Her friends are equally brave in the face of disaster. This was a 10/10 cast, and I'm so glad they finally found the balance between being terrified and still navigating the situation without catastrophic mistakes.
Visuals. The imagery was an absolute treat. They seamlessly combined modern special effects with throwback, retro detailing. The futuristic equipment and locations reminded me a lot of Alien: Isolation. Upon further research, it seems that the director was indeed inspired by the game! It made everything so nostalgic and immersive. The Xenomorph design was flawless as usual, involving a lot of body horror.
Audio. I am desperately waiting for the album to be released on Spotify, because the soundtracks were amazing. The music was composed by Benjamin Wallfisch, who seems to have rather big movie titles under his belt, such as It, and It: Chapter Two. Safe to say this man knows how to instil terror in you. They made sure to incorporate some of the classic pieces, then expanded on that. The alert beats reminded me of Covenant, while other tracks provided their own take on the story. The intro of the movie is aided by dissonant chanting in the background, hinting at the ancient, religious imagery used for the Xenomorphs.
Conclusion. Overall, I'd say this is a must-watch for any Alien fan. It is a tribute to the classic movies, but it still offers a brand-new take to the Alien Universe. The movie had some moments of complete silence - staying true to the "In space, no one can hear you scream" quote - and everyone in the cinema held their breaths. It will keep you on your toes.

i found jay’s black jacket (an ID guide)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This black jacket is worn by Jay about 9 times throughout Marble Hornets, including his final appearance. And after some weeks of on-and-off research, I think I know the exact make and model.
This post will detail exactly how I found it, and serve as a guide for anyone that wants to find the jacket, whether that's for cosplay purposes, or if you're just keen on collecting items related to MH.
Main post under the cut
Intro
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first step to identifying the jacket was to gather as many references as possible.
I went back to the web series and took screenshots from any entries the jacket makes an appearance. (shoutout to mg549′s very comprehensive MH wardrobe guide, without it this would’ve been much more of a pain)
Jay's jacket is, for the most part, very plain. It's a solid color, full-zip jacket, without any particularly eye-catching logos or other details. I had to look for moments where even the slightest distinction appeared clear on camera, at least as distinct as it can be. Even if it was just close-ups to get the shape of a zipper, or how many buttons are on a sleeve, it was the best I got. While I did manage to find a decent amount of these, there was just one crucial detail that would've made finding it near-impossible; the brand is never shown. Thankfully, I had another resource.
In 2018 Troy Sold a Lot of Stuff
Tumblr media
In early 2018, Troy officially announced that MH would be continued in a comic series. To fund the first issue, he held a number of auctions for production items used during the web series on Ebay.
These included items such as Jay’s camera, Brian’s hoodie, A Masky mask, and Jay’s black jacket.
Tumblr media
Lo and behold, the jacket listing includes a picture with the brand in clear view. It's from Gap.
Ebay does not archive sold listings older than 90 days. However, Worthpoint, a website for valuing and pricing collectibles, does. Using Worthpoint I was able to find all of these items, (and a lot more, which can be found in this doc I submitted to Archive Hornets)
Identification
With the picture from the listing and the series screencaps, I had a complete ID list.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Top image is from the Ebay listing, with the contrast adjusted a little for easier viewing. The bottom two images are from Entry #79)
The Gap logo (This specific logo dates the jacket being made anywhere between 1986 and 2009, when it first appears).
Front Zipper (Note the shape)
The two front pockets
The two buttons and pointed cuffs on each sleeve (Second one is a little hard to see but it's jusstt peeping out at the side)
The blue piping in the inner lining
The zipper in the right side inner lining
The gray mesh inner lining
With these in mind, I could now go to the next and longest step-
Finding the Jacket
I combed three resell sites; Ebay, Depop, and Poshmark. My main goal wasn't to actually purchase the jacket, (although, I would like to at some point) but to find a jacket listing that had every identifier, and have a more definite baseline for finding others. I needed to be sure what I had was enough to properly ID the jacket. The references I had stitched together were decent enough, but I wanted to see if there was something better out there.
After tons of page scrolling and tab-switching and comparing and contrasting, I finally got lucky.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(first two images are from crashthecloset's listing on poshmark, last six are from shannfo-76 on ebay)
I haven't bought one myself as of posting, but I feel pretty confident this is it. The jackets were already sold, but every marker seemed to be accounted for. It also revealed new ones, like the reflective pattern and pockets on the inner lining, (zipper on the right side pocket, button on the left pocket) and the materials tag.
With that, here's some final notes that may be helpful if you try looking for the jacket yourself:
Online sellers often describe it as a light jacket, a windbreaker, a 2-in-1, or 3-in-1.
"Gap Mens Black Jacket" is the search phrase I used the most since it yielded a (very) broad result pool.
Most of the jackets I found came from Poshmark or Ebay.
The exact size of Jay’s jacket is unclear. My best guesses are either a US Men’s S or M, since Jay was pretty skinny and of average height. I’ve only been able to find maybe 2 jackets that are a size M, one of which is the first pic in the photoset above.
Gap has sold other black jackets that look remarkably similar to Jay’s, and they do pop up on resell sites. One of these was so similar, the only discernible difference was the style of the logo. I highly recommend making sure it matches the exact one Jay had before purchasing. (It's also more than fine to ask/msg me if you have any doubts!) As long as you know what to look for, you shouldn’t have a problem finding at least one.
Tumblr media
One detail that confounded me was this sleeve poking out of Jay's jacket. At first I thought he was wearing a long sleeve underneath, making this shot a continuity error since he appeared to Only be wearing the green short sleeve under the jacket.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
@hivemite pointed out that this might be a two-in-one jacket, which has multiple layers for different types of weather. While I have not been able to see the sleeve outside of two shots in entry #79 and #80, one listing I found did describe it as a 3-in-1.
Tumblr media
that's about it! hope this helps :)

Can you please share the story about how Øystein once slept outside the house of a German musician and got one of his records (?) I love this anecdote, but I couldn't find it 😭
Well, Øystein liked Tangerine Dream, so he found Conrad's address, and while travelling through Germany in 1986, went there. Conrad didn't let him in, so Øystein slept in front of his door. Tomorrow, Conrad's wife let him inside and Øystein somehow persuaded Conrad to give him some of his music for Deathcrush. Conrad gave him an unfinished random song, which became the intro of Deathcrush - Silvester Anfang. I think Conrad just wanted to get rid of the creepy stalker Euro 😂

This is The Price of Freedom (1986). The game begins as Soviet forces begin their occupation of America. I don’t know why so much of this stuff came out in 1986, but they did (I mean, obviously they draw from Red Dawn, but it’s weird to have all of them in one grouping like this).
I do not know who this game is for. On the surface, it seems aimed at the same conservative-minded, Red Scare-fearing folks that Year of the Phoenix was aimed at. Certainly it was marketed toward them. The designer, Greg Cosikyan, though, was a liberal New Yorker (he considered himself a left libertarian at the time). I’ve seen him claim it was an experiment, I’ve also seen him express embarrassment over it. But this is also the guy who wrote Violence, Paranoia and Toon. I can’t help but see this as a send-up, or perhaps a Trojan horse.
The cover art is perhaps a good Rorschach test. I can see how that image would both unnerve and appeal someone under the spell of the Red Scare. But to me, the looming Lenin, the headbands and the lady (wrongly) carrying the massive RPG scream farce. The liberal use of “commie” in the text similarly undercuts the seriousness for me (Paranoia, which does something similar, came out two years prior).
The game is D20 and skill based. Its tightly designed, veers towards wargames for its action and is fairly unremarkable mechanically. There isn’t much in the rules about roleplaying, really, but the pre-gens have a lot of roleplay cues that support the idea that this is meant to subvert the conservatism the game appeals to. Maria is a Trotskyite Marxist, Billy’s hero is Bruce (no last name given, but of course it means Springsteen). Jake idolizes Bernie Goetz (keep an eye on Jake, jeeze), Johnson’s passion is money. Its a big spectrum of American personalities united against the commies, including some commies!
Added bonus: the intro scenario takes place on the Communipaw bridge connecting Kearny to Jersey City, making it the only RPG I know of that takes place in my good old hometown.

Pouches - Who's to blame (Not entirely serious)
Now, we remember that the king of the super pouches is Cable, and for good reason... Since his intro in 1990 he has tended to be more than slightly... pouch intensive
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This isn't even a spoof cover, it's an accurate representation of his costume at the time.
But did he START the trend?
I think not.
Leaving aside Batman from the 1966 series, who had hefty pouches in his belt...
Tumblr media
Though still not remotely large enough for some of the stuff he randomly produced from it, even if it DOES fold up... sort of.
Tumblr media
But I digress....
I did consider the Silver Age bat villain Cluemaster
Tumblr media
But those are specifically "plastic-glass pellets" containing assorted chemical weapons, like explosives, gas, acids and the like, so not sure they count.
It's been suggested that one of the first in the modern era to develop this was Longshot in 1986, when he did indeed have pouches on his belt, because artist Art Adams thought he needed practically-sized pouches to carry things in.
Tumblr media
But even then are there MANY pouches? His bandolier was to store his throwing knives for easy access, so weren't pouches per se.
So technically, the first X-Men character to really lay into the pouches side of things isn't Cable, not by a long shot... it's this guy, slightly later in 1986
Tumblr media
So Doug Ramsey was leading the field of poucher-y in the X-Verse side of things.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just look at that vest and belt, LOADED and lined with pouches, and we never even find out what's in them... Though I think it would include pens, pencils, notepaper, some money, spare keys to the Xavier school, first-aid kit, lock picks (because he's always wanted to carry lockpicks), string (Everyone should carry string), breath mints and other things a relatively sensible teenager would want to be sure he was carrying if he had the room in his outfit and wasn't given to cargo shorts!
And yet, there are other contenders, so let's work backwards...
Also from 1986, Batman (again) from "The Dark Knight Returns" where even his BELT looks to be on a course of serious steroids!
Tumblr media
And in 1983 we got this stylish new costume retconned into the history of the Golden Age Tarantula in All-Star Squadron who, up until this point, wore a purple and yellow spandex outfit that was, oncufsingly, identical to the Golden Age Sandman's spandex costume outfit.
Tumblr media
Notice that he has rings of pouches on both boots, where he keeps things like spare cash in case he needs to hire a taxi and probably some spare ammo for his wirepoon gun.
But I think I've found patient zero as, from 1981's New Teen Titans #3. we have the inventor and technologist par excellence, the man who would be known (Eventually) as Mikron O'Geneus, though he would, perhaps thankfully, becomes better known by his codename:
GIZMO!
Tumblr media
Look, even his LOGO has pouches!
In fairness, given his speciality is creating techno-widgets and devices out of other technology, him carrying dozens of gadgets and components makes a lot of sense, to the extent that he even manages to carry MORE weapons than Robin's utility belt (Which is TARDIS like in and of itself)!
Tumblr media
So I think we have a winner!
Gizmo started the modern pouch trend!
If anyone can find earlier/other contenders, then please feel free to add them!

Hi there! You don’t have to answer this but I’m just getting into batfam content and was going through your tags: I’d love to know your favorite batfam media, if you have any recommendations? Thanks and have a lovely day!
oh hell yeah, party.
I think that reading as much as possible from New Earth is, like, REALLY rewarding if you like the Batfam, because that's where the modern concept of the Batfamily is born. like between 1986 and 2011 is where Tim, Steph, Cass, and Damian are all introduced to the universe along with supporting Bats like Helena, Jean-Paul, and the revamped Kate Kane, plus it's where we get landmark, character-defining events like Jason's death and resurrection and Barbara's start as Oracle + formation of the Birds of Prey. like a lot of the stuff happening in this two and a half decades is going to be so formative to the characters that DC is still trying to figure out how to contort it into new continuities even though it doesn't. actually work or make sense lmao.
obviously that's a crazy amount of comics and I can't expect anyone but my stupid ass to actually read EVERYTHING, but I'd definitely try to hit the big influential events like Death in the Family (Jason's death), Lonely Place of Dying (Tim's intro), Knightfall/Knightquest/KnightsEnd (Bruce gets ratfucked by Bane, JP takes over at Batman, everything goes to shit), No Man's Land (huge earthquake hits Gotham, everything goes to shit), Murderer?/Fugitive (Bruce Wayne is framed for murder and can't provide an alibi, everything goes to shit), and Under the Red Hood (surprise bitches I bet you thought you saw the last of Jason).
for individual series during this period obviously tastes will vary, but some of my favorites in addition to classic Batman and Detective Comics are Robin, Birds of Prey, Azrael, Catwoman, and Cass' 2000 solo series as Batgirl :)
