5+3+3+4 Education system according to NEP 2020
Tumblr media
The National Education Policy 2020 of India replaces the traditional 10+2 structure with the new 5+3+3+4 education system, which is one of its most effective elements. The new educational plan aims to create a more comprehensive foundation for secondary school by using the 10 plus 2 years structure, which was focused on a constructive method of teaching.  For example, the 5+3+3+4 system gives students more freedom of choice by allowing them to acquire an extensive understanding at the elementary level before letting them choose the educational path they want to take later on with the guidance of people involved in teaching jobs. Students can now develop their talents and interests in an even more tailored and individual way thanks to this revised approach, which better prepares them for their future pursuits.
What exactly is the 5+3+3+4 Education System?
There are no additional school years in India's 5+3+3+4 education system. Since the length of time a student spends in an educational institution is constant, the heavy burden has lessened. With a 5+3+3+4 educational pattern, the National Education Policy 2020 includes playschools as well as nursery and kindergarten classrooms in its definition of "formal education." This strategy takes into account the distinctions between professional and academic interests as well as extracurricular and curricular activities. The framework makes sure that every factor is taken into account for a comprehensive educational experience. Students can flourish and grow in this supportive environment, enabling them to realize their greatest potential.
Defining the 5+3+3+4 structure
Based on the new school education system defined in NEP 2020, students are expected to spend five years in the Foundational stage, three years in the Preparatory stage, the Middle Stage lasts three years, and the Secondary Stage lasts four years. The phases have been separated into those that correspond to a child's cognitive stages in early childhood, school, and secondary school.
The many levels of the new school education system are broken down by age as follows-
5 year foundational stage:
For children ages 3 to 8
Preschool, Anganwadi, Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 The national education policy states that the fundamental level of education will include two years of primary school (classes 1 and 2) after three years of preschool or Anganwadi education. The focus of this stage will be on the growth of language and based on play or activity-based teaching strategies.
The Three-Year Preparatory Stage:
For children 8 to 11 years old
For classes in grades 3 through 5 Language and numeracy skills will be emphasized during the preparatory time. Here, relationships in the classroom and the element of discovery would be used, as well as play and activity-based teaching and learning.
Three years of middle-stage
11 to 14 years of age
6th through 8th-grade classes The critical learning objectives that will be the focus of this level of school instruction, according to NEP 2020, mark a considerable change from the rote learning techniques that have traditionally been employed in our educational system.
This stage will be centered on experiential learning in the sciences, arts, mathematics, social sciences, and humanities.
Four years at the secondary stage
The age group of 14 to 18 years age
for grades 9th through 12thThis level will include courses 9 and 10, as well as classes 11 and 12. The biggest shift in these seminars is the move to a multidisciplinary system where students can select from a variety of topic combinations based on their skills and interests as opposed to being rigidly categorized into the Arts, Science, and Commerce divisions. Once more, this level will place emphasis on critical thinking and mental flexibility.
Advantages of the 5+3+3+4 configuration
Lays the fundamental framework
India faces enormous difficulties when it comes to transferring children from Anganwadis and playschools to formal education. Children require a solid foundation at the fundamental level in order to be able to continue learning as they get older.
The new initiative emphasizes the significance of development by enrolling kids between the ages of 3 and 6 in formal education.
If students lack the necessary language and math skills, they will not be able to teach themselves. The ability to learn for oneself could suffer greatly if the basis of learning is weak.
Practitioners as well as scholars agree that early childhood education and care (ECCE) is crucial in defining a child's future. As a result, the NEP's biggest accomplishment is perhaps the inclusion of pre-primary under its purview.
Better career guidance
Stronger career counseling services are needed to help students make the best decisions possible because the new educational system includes multidisciplinary education and topic selection in the middle school years.
Choosing favorite themes as early as middle school may put the onus of making a professional decision on the shoulders of the parents or the teacher, who is frequently ill-equipped to do so.
As a result, the switch from the 10+2 to the 5+3+3+4 system offers lots of opportunities for student growth and sheds light on the areas where schools can concentrate to advance.
Final Thoughts
The framework of the educational model has been updated from the classic 10+2 to the most recent 5+3+3+4 model. With so much potential for student progress in the new system, it is clear which areas in schools still require work.  A cumulative change has also been made to the exam format. The most recent pattern update will evaluate key ideas and knowledge usage in board exams. Using scientific approaches to teaching and learning models, the educational system seeks to bring India up to par with the top nations of the globe. For all stakeholders to participate in the educational process, teaching will provide solutions for the educational infrastructure as well as a collection of school ERP & LMS components.

The GOP wonders why young people (and others) don't want to vote for them. Some wise scribe assembled this list.
1.) Your Reagan-era “trickle-down economics” strategy of tax breaks for billionaires that you continue to employ to this day has widened the gap between rich and poor so much that most of them will never be able to own a home, much less earn a living wage.
2.) You refuse to increase the federal minimum wage, which is still $7.25 an hour (since 2009). Even if it had just kept up with inflation, it would be $27 now. You’re forcing people of all ages but especially young people to work multiple jobs just to afford basic necessities.
3.) You fundamentally oppose and want to kill democracy; have done everything in your power to restrict access to the ballot box, particularly in areas with demographics that tend to vote Democratic (like young people and POC). You staged a fucking coup the last time you lost.
4.) You have abused your disproportionate senate control over the last three decades to pack the courts with religious extremists and idealogues, including SCOTUS—which has rolled back rights for women in ways that do nothing but kill more women and children and expand poverty.
5.) You refuse to enact common sense gun control laws to curb mass shootings like universal background checks and banning assault weapons; subjecting their entire generation to school shootings and drills that are traumatizing in and of themselves. You are owned by the NRA.
6.) You are unequivocally against combatting climate change to the extent that it’s as if you’ve made it your personal mission to ensure they inherit a planet that is beyond the point of no return in terms of remaining habitable for the human race beyond the next few generations.
7.) You oppose all programs that provide assistance to those who need it most. Your governors refused to expand Medicaid even during A PANDEMIC. You are against free school lunches, despite it being the only meal that millions of children can count on to actually receive each day
8.) You are banning books, defunding libraries, barring subject matter, and whitewashing history even more in a fascistic attempt to keep them ignorant of the systemic racism that this nation was literally founded upon and continues to this day in every action your party takes.
9.) You oppose universal healthcare and are still trying to repeal the ACA and rip healthcare from tens of millions of Americans and replace it with nothing. You are against lowering the cost of insulin and prescription drugs that millions need simply to LIVE/FUNCTION in society.
10.) You embrace white nationalists, Neo-Nazis, and other groups that are defined by their intractable racism, xenophobia, bigotry, and intolerance. You conspired with these groups on January 6th to try to overthrow the U.S. government via domestic terrorism that KILLED PEOPLE.
11.) You oppose every bill aimed at making life better for our nation’s youth; from education to extracurricular and financial/nutritional assistance programs. You say you want to “protect the children” while you elect/nominate pedophiles and attack trans youth and drag queens.
12.) You pretend to be offended by “anti-semitism” while literally supporting, electing, and speaking at events organized by Nazis. You pretend to hate “cancel culture” despite the fact that you invented it and it’s basically all you do.
13.) Every word you utter is a lie. You are the party of treason, hypocrisy, crime, and authoritarianism. You want to entrench rule by your aging minority because you know that you have nothing to offer young voters and they will never support you for all these reasons and more.
14.) You’re so hostile to even the notion of helping us overcome the mountain of debt that millions of us are forced to take on just to pay for our post K-12 education that you are suing to try to prevent a small fraction of us from getting even $10,000 in loan forgiveness.
15.) You opened the floodgates of money into politics via Citizens United; allowing our entire system of government to become a cesspool of corruption, crime, and greed. You are supposed to represent the American people whose taxes pay your salary but instead cater to rich donors.
16.) You respond to elected representatives standing in solidarity with their constituents to protest the ONGOING SLAUGHTER of children in schools via shootings by EXPELLING THEM FROM OFFICE & respond to your lack of popularity among young people by trying to raise the voting age.
17.) You impeach Democratic presidents over lying about a BJ but refuse to impeach (then vote twice to acquit) a guy whose entire “administration” was an international crime syndicate being run out of the WH who incited an insurrection to have you killed.
18.) You steal Supreme Court seats from democrats to prevent the only black POTUS we’ve ever had from appointing one and invent fake precedents that you later ignore all to take fundamental rights from Americans; and even your “legitimate” appointments consist of people like THIS (sub-thread refuting CJ Roberts criticisms of people attacking SCOTUS' legitimacy).
19.) You support mass incarceration even for innocuous offenses or execution by cop for POC while doing nothing but protect rich white criminals who engage in such things as tax fraud, money laundering, sex trafficking, rape/sexual assault, falsifying business records, etc.
20.) You are the reason we can’t pass:—Universal background checks—An assault weapons ban—The ‘For the People/Freedom to vote’ Act or John Lewis Voting Rights Act—The ERA & Equality Act—The Climate Action Now Act—The (Stopping) Violence Against Women Act—SCOTUS expansion.
21.) You do not seek office to govern, represent, or serve the American people. You seek power solely for its own sake so you can impose your narrow-minded puritanical will on others at the expense of their most fundamental rights and freedoms like voting and bodily autonomy.
22.) Ok, last one. You are trying to eliminate social security and Medicare that tens of millions of our parents rely on and paid into their entire lives. And you did everything to maximize preventable deaths from COVID leaving millions of us in mourning.

The Best News of Last Month
Sorry for being not active this month as I had some health problems. I'll start posting weekly now :) Meanwhile here's some good from last month
1. Widow donates $1 billion to medical school, giving free tuition forever
Tumblr media
Ruth Gottesman surprised by her late husband's $1 billion in Berkshire stock, decides to donate it in full to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York City's poorest borough. The donation is intended to cover students' tuition indefinitely, ensuring access to medical education for generations.
A video capturing students' emotional reactions to the news, cheering and crying, circulated after the announcement, highlighting the profound impact of the donation on the medical school community.
2. Electric school buses outperform diesel in extreme cold
Tumblr media
In Colorado's West Grand School District, electric school buses outperformed their diesel counterparts, particularly in the bitterly cold temperatures of towns like Kremmling, where morning temperatures can drop below -30 degrees Fahrenheit. Despite common concerns about reduced range in extreme weather, the electric buses maintained their battery charge even in these frigid conditions, providing reliable transportation for students.
This success has been welcomed by the school district, as diesel vehicles also face challenges in starting in Colorado's harsh winter weather.
3. Christian Bale unveils plans to build 12 foster homes in California
Tumblr media
Christian Bale has led a tour round the new village in California where he plans to build 12 foster homes, as well as two studio flats to help children transition into independent living, and a 7,000 sq ft community centre.
The actor has spearheaded the building of a unique complex of facilities with the aim of keeping siblings in the foster care system together, and ideally under the same roof.
4. Average lifespan of a person with Down syndrome has increased from 25 years in 1983 to 60 years today
Tumblr media
Today the average lifespan of a person with Down syndrome is approximately 60 years.
As recently as 1983, the average lifespan of a person with Down syndrome was 25 years. The dramatic increase to 60 years is largely due to the end of the inhumane practice of institutionalizing people with Down syndrome.
5. Greece legalises same-sex marriage
Tumblr media
Greece has become the first Christian Orthodox-majority country to legalise same-sex marriage. Same-sex couples will now also be legally allowed to adopt children after Thursday's 176-76 vote in parliament.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said the new law would "boldly abolish a serious inequality".
6. Massachusetts police K9 tracks scent for over 2 miles to find missing 12-year-old in freezing cold
Tumblr media
A Massachusetts police K9 followed her nose to help find a 12-year-old who went missing in frigid temperatures last week, tracking the child’s scent for over two miles, authorities said.
K9 Biza, a female German shepherd, was called on to help after officers learned the child left their home at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and was last seen in the Pakachoag Hill area of Auburn, the Auburn Police Department said.
7. Good News for the Socially Anxious: People Like You a Lot More Than You Think They Do, New Research Confirms
Tumblr media
The "Lake Wobegon effect" or "illusory superiority" phenomenon highlights people's tendency to overestimate their abilities, but recent research suggests that in social interactions, individuals often underestimate their likability and charm.
Studies indicate that people consistently fail to recognize signals of others' liking toward them, leading to a "liking gap" where individuals believe they are less likable than they actually are.
Techniques such as focusing more on others during conversations and genuinely expressing interest in them can help alleviate social anxiety by shifting the focus away from self-criticism. Ultimately, understanding that others may also experience similar anxieties can lead to a more relaxed and enjoyable social experience.

My friend was watching the show for the first time and they brought up a misconception that I think we see a lot in fandom. So I want to talk about The Gamblers Den and specifically this scene in particular:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My friend genuinely wondered what Hua Cheng would do and then when they heard his explanation they were even more confused:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They basically messaged me saying, wait Hua Cheng would have made the bet. He bets people’s lives and some how Xie Lian is okay with that. How???
And to anyone else who’s thinking the same thing or falling for the Demon King vibe Hua Cheng is trying to sell here I am here to tell you, you have all been duped.
What’s import to understand is that Ghost City actually came from making one of Xie Lian’s ideas work:
Tumblr media
Xie Lian is talking about a specialised market here, a place where the common people couldn’t just stumble into without reason and that’s what Ghost City is and The Gambers Den is the foundation of it. While Xie Lian didn’t say hey go gamble, Hua Cheng is taking a risk and playing into his greatest strength and then showing of for his crush is the most dramatic way possible when talking about it.
For Hua Cheng the house always wins! Literally. Or at least what he wants the bet to be will always happen. His luck is just that good. If the gambler wins it’s genuinely because Hua Cheng let him.
In the Den he is acting as Judge and Jury with Xie Lian as his moral code but he can’t just turn down the deals. If he does then these people could go to less safe options (looking at you Qi Rong) to get what they desire which negates the reason he built Ghost City in the first place.
Hua Cheng has to let these people play by his rules if he wants to follow his Gods wishes. So he has to be creative and look at loop holes, phrasing and Xie Lians most important teaching finding the third path.
For this moment specifically giving the options I think Hua Cheng would have taken the 20 years of his daughter’s life. Why you may ask? Well the phrasing is easier to manipulate. While the eradication of his competitors is pretty well laid 20 years of his daughters life is pretty vague.
Option 1) Hua Cheng could take her away from her shit father and put her in an apprenticeship and marry a man of her choosing since her hand is now her own to decide since Hua Cheng doesn’t want it.
Option 2) She has to work in Ghost City for 20 years and is married to Yin Yu in name only (because Hua Cheng can’t have a wife at all or he won’t win Gege) then gets pleasantly divorced and giving a severance payment after 20 years.
Option 3) He could decide life is a vague term and after she dies she has to spend 20 years in Ghost City and matchmake a future marriage between her and another ghost.
Option 4) He could decide what she has to do with the next twenty years of her life which could include an actual good marriage and education. Where she has to worship his shrine and be only his devotee for 20 years.
Option 5) He can literally say I’ll collect when I decide and never cash in.
He can do anything because the wording is so fluent and for Hua Cheng debater and Civil God Killer it’s probably easy. He’s not a demon king, he’s a crafty trickster spirit basically a fae lord.
He’s playing the system and he’s winning that’s what Xie Lian figured out and why he supports it. He knows Hua Cheng well enough even back then to trust that he would make the right decision because he believes in Hua Cheng and he’s right too.

Astro Observations -5💃
Here we go with part-5!!! My schedule is getting hectic, I managed some time to make this finally 😭😭❤💫
(These observations are based on the whole sign system, sidereal charts and all obs are subject to change with other aspects in the chart, so don't conclude anything with a single placement) ❤
Tumblr media
1. Mercury in Capricorn/Aquarius or in Saturn ruled stars- Could've got late admissions in educational institutions or had academic gaps or breaks. This could also be true if Saturn is in Gemini/Virgo or in mercury ruled stars.😌
2. Jupiter in 10H esp in fire/air signs- They could have the tendency to change jobs frequently, mostly because their interests are diverse or they like the concept of exploring, taking a long time to settle down.😊
3. Having same ascendant in both D1 & D3- The person will be courageous, they could get benefits and significant help from siblings. Their source of motivation in life could come from their friendships, a close knit of circle who always motivates them to move forward.💫
4. Virgo mercury - Can be prone to losing money in share market, due to online frauds etc. These ppl should be careful with their money. You could even lose it carelessly, like forgetting the money purse somewhere. 🤧
5. Jupiter in 7H for Gemini ascendant - Even though Jupiter is in own house in this placement, it can give late marriage to the person if it's alone in 7H or doesn't receive any aspects from other benefic planets.😇
6. More planets in Leo house in D2- You will attain wealth by your own hardwork and independently. This placement can also make the person to start earning earlier than their peers or simply have more earnings regardless of what age they started going to a job.💃
7. More planets in Cancer house in D2- You will be blessed with extravagant lifestyle and wealth after marriage. Your partner will play a significant role in determining your wealth---you could either have a joint bank account with your partner OR after their arrival in your life, you could've experienced significant rise in your salary.🤩
8. Mars-moon conjunction in D4- The property you buy in your name could be located near water sources or you can be inclined to buy agricultural lands or at least buy a commercial plot with a countryside environment. If it's in a water sign, you would buy properties in your name near coastal cities.💙
9. Ashlesha/Jyeshta/Revati Moons- No matter how manipulative or cold they might appear due to moon in mercury star, they can fall in love easily. Even if they're slow, they're as obsessive, deep and consuming as Scorpio moons when in love. Some ppl might have had obsessive crushes or a long relationship for years during school days itself.💖
10. Mars-Sun conjunction in D4- House in your name could be placed near government owned buildings or in a colony where many government officials reside. You might construct a house in warmer places (by temperature in surrounding) than the ones you grew up in.🌡
11. Cancer Venus in a woman's chart- Female friends can get jealous of them, after wedding, even the female family members of the groom could do so. It's because of their perfect embodiment of feminine self, it can make other underdeveloped females insecure. Might not be the case for everyone, just observed this in few.💜
12. Placements and the type of house construction/aesthetics you may like & build:
(This doesn't mean you will end up building your house like this for sure, these placements should make aspects to the 4H/4H lord, 4H shouldn't be afflicted, favorable mahadasha should come and many more other aspects, so take the below ones as a fun read!)
Venus in Taurus/Libra/Pisces- Lots of interior designing & unique architecture. They want their house to be very aesthetically pleasing and appreciated by others. They have a eye for beauty.😍
Rahu in 4H- House constructed in an extravagant manner, has many rooms🤭
Mercury-saturn conjunction - Likes building staircase inside the house and basements having those spiral steps like in the horror films lol.🤫
Aries Sun - Grand entrance, the main gate or the house door will be big both in terms of height and width. They could like adding glass elements that reflect light on top of house door or any architecture near that.💅
Jupiter-Saturn conjunction - Loves unique and high class wooden sculptures and furnitures. These could be the people who would import specific type of wood to make their study table hehe.💪
Taurus/Cancer Moon- Water flowing architecture inside the house. You may also be fond of having fish tanks. This placement along with taurus or libra venus can give (for ex.) unique statues and water flowing from it or glass floors and fish maintenance below it.🤪
Leo Moons- Most probably likes having their own swimming pool in their house, especially purva phalguni moons.😻
Mars-moon conjunction - Loves doing indoor gardening. Rahu in the mix can give technological advancements in this, like having hydroponics system or any specialized type of gardening.🌱
Venus-rahu conjunction - Prefers different colored lighting settings, can even have home theatre setups. They like aesthetic light works with multiple colors and all shiny at least in one room for recreation.✨
Venus-Mars conjunction - Highlights strong security systems. They could appoint a watchman or have CCTV cameras surrounding their house. Mars in rahu's star having this conjunction, they might have advanced touch or face recognition type of security systems.😼

Tips for Dysfunctional Family Girlies Part 2:
1) Get your basics straight. Education. Boundaries. Financial independence. Further breaking it down and linking it if you get proper education at some point you are bound to get an awareness of this world, if you are able to adapt and improvise yourself and develop your emotional intelligence and get your boundaries straight you will save yourself a lot of unnecessary drama and problems. Education (formal and informal) both will help you in gaining opportunities and if you are financially independent, you are holding the power to make your own decisions.
2) Develop thick skin. Your mom is calling you names. Slut, whore and what not. Your dad doesn't trust you and abuses you physically. So, what now? Are you going to let them define what you are or internalize the anger and use it as a fuel to become successful? Choice is yours.
3) They say you don't owe an explanation to anyone. Sorry to burst your little bubble. Actually you do. We live in a society and have relationships that we need to maintain for survival. This hyper independent stuff is only good to read. We have responsibilities that we need to fulfill. If you don't owe an explanation to anyone then don't cry about a closure from someone too. If you can live by this go ahead and practice it.
4) Stop isolating yourself. That's it. That's the point.
5) First kill the fear inside you. Being a rebel outside the house is no good. Be disciplined. Know how to manipulate your family members in your favor and if you can't just find the weak points and threaten. I know it's difficult to implement but you learn through trial and error. Plus something is better than nothing.
6) Stop glorifying people who treat you with kindness and love. That's the bare minimum. Just because you didn't get it served in a silver spoon doesn't mean it is not served in a silver spoon. People can have ulterior motives and even if they don't fix it in your brain that's normal. No rose colored glasses allowed.
7) Don't be afraid of indulging in your sexuality. No I am not saying go and have sex with people. I mean it in a deeper sense. Connect with the repressed sexual side and try to find healthy outlets. Don't dim yourself to fit in others'expectations or to ease someone's insecurity. Be unapologetic about your wants and desires. Know yourself. It's a powerful energy source if you know how to use it positively.
8) Cry, cry and cry. Wail like a child. No need to keep it all in. No need to act like a macho woman BUT only in front of your god or your belief system. Max in front of your truly trusted people.
9) Question everything as easily as breathing. Doubt every thing. Every action. Every person. What proof do you have to not doubt ? Stop giving benefit of doubts. Stop looking for excuses on how they could be good and instead look for ways in which they can harm you. That's your lottery to be poised and composed. It's just what it is.
10) Obsession. We have it in loads. That's natural to us. So the trick here is to be obsessive. Hella obsessive but about things, topics, goals, subjects, inanimate things, etc. God forbid but never be obsessive about a person. Not even over your dead body. Why? For that I need to make another detailed post I think.

You stand in front of the body mirror, holding the Red Bull polo shirt against your body to see how it looks on you for one last time. On your right sleeve, the word MANAGER is written in bold, white text. Because that was what you were. Just a manager.
In another universe this is not the shirt that you’d be wearing. The MANAGER would have been ENGINEER. In another another universe where your family has been well-off enough to continuously send you to karting school and you would have been the one driving the fucking car by now.
You know, if Max has even tried talking to Horner and suggested that you should be moved into the engineering team, then you wouldn't be stuck wearing this god-awful polo that burned your skin every time you wore it for work. Everybody reduced you as Max’s American manager and because you are American, most of them kind of just assumed that you're dumb, you know?
Does the world even know how smart you are? That you graduated top of your class, got the best thesis award, and that you had finished your masters just this year? Did they even know that a Japanese car company wanted you on their research team? That a NASCAR team wanted you on board as one of their engineers? Does Max even know?
Fuck no. He only knows that you're the best at ironing clothes and organizing his Google calendar and memorizing his entire coffee order by heart. He knew you're good at extinguishing kitchen fires and kicking ass in YSL Opyum heels. You doubt he knows that you can do Calculus in your sleep.
You can take it if the world puts you down for your appearance. But if the world puts you down because of your intellect? That's a different story. You'll take any insult to the face but not to your intelligence.
You have four days left in Monaco so you have begun packing already. You're right, everything did fit into three suitcases. Also, you haven't told Max yet. For some reason, you’re too anxious. Which is shocking to say the least because you never ever gets anxious when it came to Max Verstappen. You wouldn't have lasted this long working alongside Max if you were a pussy.
Max Max Max Super Max Max—
“[Name] here. Need anythin’, champ?”
Hearing a sob on the other end of the line immediately activates your fight or flight response. Your eyes widen and you toss the Red Bull shirt aside. Your legs leads you to the nearly empty shoe rack stationed beside the front door, grabbing the pair of shoes at the very top of the tiny shelf and throwing them on.
“I’m comin’ there. Hang on, Max. You wait for me, okay?”
He doesn't answer, just continuing to sob and the sound absolutely breaks your heart.
You run to his penthouse at a speed that will even put the RB19 to shame. Not even bothering to knock, you barge in and yell his name in the empty halls of his penthouse. You search in the kitchen. He's not there. The living room. Not there either. The room where his simulations are. Not there. You run to his bedroom upstairs.
The door is locked. Dammit. Panic overflooded your system.
“Max, sweetheart, you there?”
No answer, but you can hear a faint sound behind the door if you press your ear against the wood. Firefighter training covered how to open a fucking door when it was locked so this once again becomes a situation where you're grateful that you did that tiring and borderline suicidal volunteer work.
Max keeps a fire extinguisher inside his penthouse as per your advice. There is one stationed in almost every room inside his house. You knew there is one inside his room and another one just at the end of the hallway. You make a quick run for it and once you have the extinguisher in your hands, you run back to his door.
“Step away from the door!” you instructed while your mind mentally calculates your payment plan as you hit the door knob with so much force, the walls tremble at your strength. You're functioning on pure adrenaline. Your instincts only yell one thing and that is: go to Max. No one and nothing in this world will keep you from him. It isn't long until his bedroom door broke down. With one last final kick, it crumbles down from its hinges and you forcefully pry it open and sprint inside.
Max tucks himself in the tiny space in the corner of his huge bedroom, his knees shoved up to his chest. A 181-cm tall man trying to make himself as small as possible.
This is it. This is the bottled-up emotions he's been storing since Abu Dhabi. You cannot say you have not anticipated this. Max is bound to explode sooner or later.
Panic attacks have made a home in Max’s body since he was a child. That's what one gets when they’re parented by someone like Jos Verstappen. He killed Max’s soul and made the boy a machine and for what? To shape a child into a man, a racer that he wanted to be but failed to become at the cost of Max's mental health and childhood.
When Max looks up with that heartbreaking look on his face, you almost crumble. Almost, because you cannot crumble. Not when Max needs you.
Sometimes, you forget what it took for Max to become the champion that he is today. A childhood sacrificed for his dominance on the tracks. A whole lot of hatred from the people to become a WDC. And now, a love lost for his third consecutive championship.
“You came,” his voice cracks towards the end.
Your eyes soften, “You called, Max. Course I’ll come.”
You barely brace yourself for the impact that is Max’s body wrapping around yours in a tight hug. The man have literally launch himself from the floor to you at sixth gear speed. You stumble backwards slightly, holding his bed for support so the both of you won't fall down.
“Max—”
“No,” he whispers and his grip on your tightens as if he's afraid that you’ll slip away if he even tried to give your lungs space to breathe. “Don't speak. Stay.”
What Max wanted, what Max would get. So you shut your mouth, shuffle slightly so he'll be in a more comfortable position and allow him take whatever he wants from you. This will be the last chance he’ll ever do it anyway because in four days time, you’re flying to Texas.
You stay for what is probably hours in that position. Crumbled together on the floor, leaning against the side of Max’s king-sized bed. Your shirt is completely damp from his tears but you cannot even bring yourself to care about it.
“Your shoes…” It's the first time Max has spoken since the start of his meltdown.
“Hm?” you turn your head and your nose nuzzles against his hair, making you scrunch it up a little. His hair is tickling your nostrils. If you lean a little forward, your lips will meet the skin of his temple.
“They’re mismatched.”
Brows furrowed, your eyes move to your feet and see that Max is right. Your shoes are indeed mismatched. On your left is one of your Adidas slides and the other is your slip-on Skechers. You ran from one building to another in mismatched shoes. Fucking embarassing.
“Ignore them.”
Silence.
“You good now?”
“No.”
“Okay,” you say. “If you want to talk, I’ll listen.”
You hear Max let out a shaky breath, “Just stay for a while. Don't leave me alone.”
“Okay.”
Eventually, you manage to talk Max out of the hug. You're beginning to feel claustrophobic but you do not want to say it out right so you try to negotiate instead. That's how you and Max found yourselves inside his kitchen again. You're trying to replicate your Abuela's cheesecake, which she was known for back in Austin, and Max is…well, he's Max and he’s trying to be helpful in any way he can. If it's some other day, you'd have shoved him out of the way because you prefer working alone in the kitchen. Having eyes on you gives you anxiety. But given today’s circumstances, you do not have the heart to make Max leave so you task him with doing the little stuff like mixing things and throwing shit to the trash can nearby. And he does so splendidly.
“Thank you, by the way.”
“For what, baby?” You internally wince at your own slip of the tongue. Damn that habit of yours of calling people with affectionate call signs. Thankfully, Max seems to have not noticed it.
“For coming here.”
You shrug.
“I only did what you did for me in 2021.”
Again, your breakup with Leo was bad bad. You spent a month crying for a love lost and Max was there for you. For the most part, at least. You want him to focus on winning and winning alone that you pushed him away a lot of times but you appreciated how he was more obedient to your commands, that he held his tongue so he wouldn't piss you off even though he was not liking your words, and that he was considerate of you.
“I hope you won't go into fights though,” you chuckle. “Like I did after my breakup.”
He smiles, shaking his head lightly and you know he's recalling the memory. 2021 is a hilarious year for you, the Red Bull manager. You went viral after getting into a cat fight with a girl and a whole fist fight with her boyfriend.
You and Leo called it quits a week before Monaco and even though it had been four races since then, your heart was still in a quite fragile state at that specific race weekend. One minor inconvenience was enough to ignite a wild blaze of fire within you and nobody could extinguish the flames.
After Silverstone FP1, you were leading Max to the cool down room to brief him with Horner’s relayed instructions and someone had thrown a glass bottle towards the both of you while walking. Originally, Max was the main target of the bottle but you happened to have moved towards the line of trajectory and the bottle landed on your temple, hard enough that you stumbled upon impact.
You barely heard Max’s shocked gasp and shout of panic over the sound of glass shattering on your foot because the only thing you could register was the terrifying feeling of a thick liquid trickling down the side of your face and you didn't even need to see it to know it was blood.
The only thing you saw was red and it was on fucking sight.
Fucking Hamilton fan. Fucking Hamilton. He’s in Max’s way. He’s in your way. He’s the wall that was dividing you from your dream position in the engineering team.
You shoved the iPad you were holding to Max’s hands and marched down to the woman wearing the Merc #44 merch, swiftly jumping over the barricade and grabbing her by the collar of her pristine white Versace top.
The events that followed were too fast. You grabbed her collar. She pulled your hair. You also pulled her hair. Someone pulled her away from you. You tried to grab her, clawing her bare arms with your manicured nails. She screamed. You screamed back. You pulled out some curse words in Spanish as well because cursing her in one language alone is not enough. Her boyfriend appeared. A quick punch to your cheek. You fell to the ground.
The world stood still. There was a sting on your palm because your skin got torn from the hard surface of the concrete ground. You let a bloodcurdling war cry and your Dad would definitely be disappointed at you for using the boxing techniques he taught you for self defense purposes only to fight a guy two times your size.
Everything was a bigger blur from there. But you did remember the sensation of Max’s strong arms around you, stopping you from lunging forward again. He was saying sweet words to your ear to calm you down but your brain failed to intercept them so you could hear the words, could hear his voice, but not understand any of it. You remember Christian Horner's disappointed face that haunted you even two years later. You remembered feeling so terrified as you sat outside Christian Horner’s office waiting for the final verdict while he and Max and a few of the Red Bull higher-ups argued about your future with the team. You remembered hearing Max’s loud snarl on the other side of the mahogany door: “Did you see her face?! There was blood everywhere! On her nose, on her mouth, on the fucking side of her head!” You remembered the girl taking the case to court. You remembered fearing that you’d be sent to jail. You remembered that she lost the case because it was ruled as self defense and your injuries were grave. You remembered discovering that it was Max who used all his power and got the best lawyer to fight your case. You remembered the atmosphere in the Red Bull garage shifting when you entered it a few weeks later and everyone stared the bandages and bruises. Everyone thought one thing: of course, it would also take a monster to manage a monster like Max Verstappen. You remembered Lewis Hamilton, seven-time world champion, apologizing personally for the fight caused by his own fan. He didn't need to but he was so sincere with it that you cried when he handed you the apology flowers. God, how could you even hate this man? Your anger towards him was misplaced.
You’d been living with the guilt ever since, that you were horrifyingly violent for a day, that you were capable of killing for a day. And it could happen again. One day. God, you hoped you wouldn't have to see that day. You knew all your coworkers have been careful with angering you ever since. They're terrified of you even. Max should be, too. But then again, why would he when he already saw the horrors done by his father’s hands ever since he was a child? He was used to it.
“I won't,” he says, smiling at you. “I wouldn't want to add anymore problems for you to clean up.”
But you will not be the one cleaning it up because you resigned. You didn’t tell that to him though. Not right now. He just had a meltdown over Kelly leaving him and the news of his manager leaving him too will destroy him.
The cheesecake is a little burnt when you take it out of the oven but it actually adds more flavor to it so yeah, that's a win.
“We should drink,” you suggest.
“It’s mid-afternoon.”
“We drank at mid-afternoon yesterday,” you give him a blank stare. “With Alex and Charles, remember?”
He doesn't say anything as you make your way to his fridge and pull out two bottles of beer. Max has champagne stored somewhere but you have enough of those expensive champagnes. You need beer. Beer is good. Beer is nice. You're a beer type of person and it is time Max becomes one, too.
“I’m no scientist,” you begin, biting off the beer’s bottle cap. “But according to chemistry, alcohol is solution.”
Well, technically, edible alcohol or ethanol is not a mixture. Rather, it's a pure substance that happens to be a liquid at room temperature and typical atmospheric pressure. Pure ethanol is not a solution. Hard spirits though? That's a solution.
Beer is not a hard spirit. It's more of a fermented drink. But Max doesn't know that, though, so you don't bother explaining the science behind it.
Somewhere down the road, the two of you move to his living room. You use the Youtube app in his TV to search karaoke video and have the bestest time of your lives. You're screaming along some Daddy Yankee and El Alfa songs and Max doesn't know how to speak Spanish so he’s just vibing to it.
At 5 PM, you pull out Max’s expensive vodka bottle. Now this is the real shit. The ten bottles of beer? Those are just pregame. Max is already drunk with just those because he’s a pussy but you’re no pussy, so the only right answer is vodka! Viva la vodka or whatever.
Your throat gets tired of singing and Max gets tired from dancing, too, so you both decide to just go entertain yourselves in other ways. First, you introduced Max to beer-pong. He loses, of course. He sucks at everything not racing. Then, the two of you move onto chess. Max gives up mid-game. He cannot understand the rules. Then, lastly, you move to the billiard table Max owned. He only used it when the other guys are over and you do not even know why he bought it when he sucked at playing billiards.
“You know what Kelly said the morning before the race?” Max suddenly says and you look up at him, brow raising slightly. He’s drunk; his skin is flushed and he is all giggly and smile-y as he sits on the billiard table’s side rail and using the billiard stick as some sort of support stand to keep him from falling. You hope he won't accidentally poke himself. You're no better, too. Ten beer bottles and a few glasses of vodka. But you’re not as drunk as Max, and you still have a straight vision and you can still sink the colored balls into the pockets of the billiard table.
“Hm?”
“That it was unfair for her.”
You raise a questioning brow, “Why?”
“I bought shoes and they don't fit her.”
You blink. He laughs at himself as if he has uttered the funniest joke in the world.
“Three years of relationship gone because of a single pair of shoes,” he continues. “She wanted those shoes, too.”
Kelly….what the fuck?
“But that's okay. She….She made me open my eyes, you know? She made me realize what I truly love.”
“Racing.” It's not even a question. It's the truth.
Max stares at you, long and hard, and you look away first because you fear that if you allow yourself to stare too long, you’ll drown in those beautiful blues. This is enough heartache for the day. No need to add more.
“Hey [Name],” he begins. “If I asked you to kiss me, would you do it?”

My take on “radical feminism” that nobody asked for
I myself consider myself leaning very into radical feminism but I see that terf ideologies seem to get mixed in more often than not (wanna make it clear I support trans rights)
1. A lot of rad fems think that all heterosexual sex is rape which is such an insane thing to do and implies that women do not have the power or capacity to consent to heterosexual sex
2. I do agree that we as woman will never find liberation through sex or sex work however rad fems do not realize that a lot of women fall into sex work and can not simply quit, I do not support the sex work industry but I support sex workers
3. To me it seems a lot of white women have overshadowed the movement and only mention woc when it’s used as an aha! moment against men and not with the intention of actually helping
4. Extreme transphobia, the main idea is that trans women rape women’s body’s and appropriating the body, my conflict with this is women are not their bodies and trans women have always felt like women since birth is the biological aspect that’s the problem
5. A lot of rad fems think a women choosing a certain lifestyle or religion is oppressive which again perpetuates the idea that women can not make a choice without a man or patriarchal idea being involved or a sense of brain washing
I think a lot of rad fems have lost sense of the movement and more times than often make themselves appear victim like and in a constant state of martyrdom, yes we women have suffered and continue to suffer and be oppressed but we can not let this weight break us down and make us point fingers at people (trans women and women who choose religion or certain life styles) who are not the root cause of our suffering
Please let me know your thoughts
Edit
⭐️Some people seem to be confused about this but i was born a woman and will always be a woman, it’s so crazy how other women will try to degrade me as if they were men for disagreeing with them or seeing things differently, i do not like liberal feminism and i never have, and i do not like to label my belief system and prefer to make a more individual standpoint than community⭐️
Another edit lol
⭐️I have never claimed to be a rad fem or that I know everything about rad feminism because I don’t, and that was the purpose of this post, it’s really crazy how people will say they want to educate and liberate women while yelling and degrading me for simply not agreeing with them and proceed to do the same things men do, you are no better than a man, I’ve come to realize that this community strayed from its original purpose and roots and has been taken over by people who want to put in their own two cents and opinion, this community or at least a good portion of it seems like a very miserable community, I have meet a lot of rad fems who have common sense and realize that hate will get them nowhere and being rude to me won’t achieve anything, on the other hand majority of rad fems I’ve meet have misconstrued the movement from what I’ve read and put feelings over facts, I won’t interact to hate and only to genuine discussions ⭐️

This introduction can serve as a working sheet for a beginning consciousness raising group.
The typical consciousness-raising group is composed of six to twelve women who meet on an average of once a week. Groups larger than ten or twelve are less conducive to lengthy personal discussion and analysis. The consciousness-raising process is one in which personal experiences, when shared, are recognized as a result not of an individual's idiosyncratic history and behavior, but of the system of sex-role stereotyping. That is, they are political, not personal, questions.
Generally consciousness-raising groups spend from three to six months talking about personal experiences and then analyzing those experiences in feminist terms. Thereafter they often begin working on specific projects including such activities as reading, analyzing and writing literature; abortion law repeal projects; setting up child care centers; organizing speak-outs (rape, motherhood, abortion, etc.) ; challenging sex discrimination in employment, education, etc.
The following is a list of topic areas generally discussed. Although listed by week, they are not in any particular order, nor is it necessary to rigidly adhere to a one-week/one-topic schedule. The questions are examples of the kinds of areas that can be explored.
Week 1 GENERAL: What are some of the things that got you interested in the women's movement?
Week 2 FAMILY: Discuss your parents and their relationship to you as a girl (daughter). Were you treated differently from brothers or friends who were boys?
Week 3 FAMILY: Discuss your relationships with women in your family.
Week 4 CHILDHOOD AND ADOLESCENCE: Problems of growing up as a girl. Did you have heroines or heros? Who were they? What were your favorite games? How did you feel about your body changing at puberty?
Week 5 MEN: Discuss your relationships with men-friends, lovers, bosses—as they evolved. Are there any recurring patterns?
Week 6 MARITAL STATUS: How do (or did) you feel about being single? Married? Divorced? What have been the pressures—family, social— on you?
Week 7 MOTHERHOOD: Did you consider having children a matter of choice? Discuss the social and personal pressures you may have felt to become a mother. What have been your experiences and thoughts regarding such issues as child care, contraception and abortion?
Week 8 SEX: Have you ever felt that men have pressured you into having sexual relationships? Have you ever lied about orgasm?
Week 9 SEX: Sex objects-When do you feel like one? Do you want to be beautiful? Do you ever feel invisible?
Week 10 WOMEN: Discuss your relationships with other women. For example, have you ever felt competitive with other women for men? Have you ever felt attracted to another woman?
Week 11 BEHAVIOR: What is a "nice girl"? Discuss the times you have been called selfish. Have you ever felt that you were expected to smile even when you didn't feel like it?
Week 12 AGE: How do you feel about getting old? Your mother getting old? What aspects of aging do you look forward to? Fear? Do you think it is a different problem for men and women?
Week 13 AMBITIONS: What would you most like to do in life? How does being a woman affect that?
Week 14 MOVEMENT ACTIVITY: What are some of the things you would like to see the women's movement accomplish?

Did Sia insult topic of autism somehow?
Oh honey, it's sooooooooo much worse than that.
Sia wanted to make a movie about an autistic girl that manages to connect to people/feel safe and confident through music. So far, nothing outrageous, just a simple concept that would obviously put Sia's music front and center while doing something nice and educating people on autism.
There was controversy about her not casting an autistic actress as it would have been nice representation, but she could have totally gotten away with that since, come on, hollywood hasn't even figured out Rain Man isn't exactly true to life, they're not ready to have an autistic person playing an autistic character. Baby steps.
The real problem started when Sia started promoting the "charity/support group" that was helping "educate" her on the topic to make the movie. The "charity" in question was Autism Speaks - which is absolutely HATED by the autistic community for things like:
1 - Spreading the myth that autism is a mental illness that one can develop/catch like the freaking flue and potentially be cured of, instead of a neurotype, aka something starts in the woomb and cannot be "cured" because to do that you'd need to replace someone's entire nervous system, which is impossible.
2 - Using that myth to get outrageous amounts of money from people so they "search for a cure" - that doesn't exist and will never exist because curing autism is biologically impossible, AND despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of autistic people don't even want to be "cured" (plus, since said "cure" would essentially mean giving the person a new brain, it leads to the question of "Would I even be the same person, or would that just kill and replace me?")
3 - Using the myth of "We don't know what causes autism" (we do, it's genetic) to, of course, get MORE money from people so they can "do research to find the missing puzzle piece" (if you ever see autistic people complaining about a puzzle piece being used to represent the condition, that's why, it was started by Autism Speak's massive disinformation campains).
4 - Falsely "confirming" things like soy milk cause autism with one of the world's most ridiculous "research", losing only to "vaccines totally make kids autistic, buy MY vaccine instead, guys, I am totally not an unbelievably biased person, it's ALL the other doctors/scientists lying to you. GIVE ME MONEY!"
5 - Pushing the narrative of "autism is inherently a tragedy" to distract from the fact that all the money they waste on stupid shit could be used to help autistic people and their families. Instead, they focus on creating more and more panic, making parents in particular despair even more - to the point that one of their "awareness videos" includes a mother talking about how she wants to murder her autistic daughter and then kill herself... while sitting right next to said daughter.
6 - Promoting ABA "therapy" - which was created by the same guy responsible for the attrocity that is gay conversion "therapy." Both have led to unbelievably high rates of confirmed PTSD and suicidal ideation in patients (victims), and ABA in particular has been compared to literal dog training. Very fitting since it was created by a guy who famously did not believe autistic people truly counted as thinking, feeling human beings, and said as much several times. Despite that, it is still praised by some utter bastards because "it makes the patients act less autistic when they're not crying in the corner or trying to jump out a window"
So yeah, working with these guys is a genuinely horrible thing to do since they're basically a scam/hate group pretending to be a charity - and people were STILL willing to give Sia the benefit of the doubt, since Autism Speak uses all their resources to make sure they're the first thing people see when looking up how to help autistic people.
Lots of Sia's fans, both autistic and allistic, warned her repeatedly, politely, that she needed to supporting them IMMEDIATELY as their goal was the exact opposite of the one she claimed to have - aka raise awareness through an accurate portrail of autism. People were even kind enough to name organizations like ASAN as replacements to help her fix any damage done to the project.
And instead of being a decent human being, Sia decided to cry on twitter about how the mean retar-I mean, autistics were bullying her even when she was so kindly using them for her vanity project.
Because yes, that's how the movie turned out. An unwatcheable piece of garbage, with the autistic "character" being so fucking bad even the people who actively use "autistic" as insulted being offended on our behalf - and of course, she was used just a prop to show how awesome Sia's character was.
Seriously, it was so bad the actress playing the autistic girl was sobbing in between scenes because she knew how it was horrible and she didn't want to insult anyone, but Sia is literally her godmother and helped her career by putting her in nearly all her music videos so she felt obligated to go along with it.
So yeah, fuck Sia and fuck Autism Speaks.

The Harrington Pattern Part 9
As you guys wanted, here's me doubling up on posting days. It will (hopefully) be twelve hours apart so that each chapter can get some love.
In this chapter we have a lot of flirting between Eddie and Steve. The Party being "meh" *shrugs shoulders* at Steve being bi. And Robin being the most soulmate a guy could ask for.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8
MY TAG LIST FOR THIS STORY IS CLOSED!!!!
@mira-jadeamethyst @rozzieroos @itsall-taken @redfreckledwolf @emly03
****
That night they were all gathered to watch the amateur theatrical society put on Much Ado About Nothing.
Even the ones who had been reluctant to join in were doubled over in laughter at the trick the Prince pulled on Beatrice and Benedict. The way they cried when Hero was accused of cheated on Claudio. And cheered when it was resolved happily ever after.
Mike complained about it all the way to the car. “We were forced to read this play in eighth grade and I hated it. I never knew it was funny.”
Eddie put his arm around his shoulder. “That is the unfortunate side effect of the education system. They suck the joy out of all of everything.”
“Normally I’m rolling my eyes at Eddie’s rants,” Robin said, “but I’m going to have to agree with him on this one. They just want sanitized versions of everything.”
Steve nodded. “Like what’s with the jump in American history when we stop in eighth grade at the Civil War and then all the way to WWII in eleventh grade, with only a brief mention of WWI as it related to WWII. Are they really trying to tell us that nothing happened in those eighty years of note? Like the fuck?”
Mike blinked at him. “Holy shit, I never even realized.”
The kids looked around at each other in shock.
“They push math and science,” Eddie continued, “but shit on everything else, except sports.”
He winced when realized what he had said. He looked over at Steve with an apology on his lips, but Steve was nodding.
“And they have to be the right sports, too,” Steve agreed. “Wrestling, swimming, soccer...anything outside the big three baseball, football, or basketball. Trust me, I got a lot of flack on being on the swim team. It was ‘gay’.”
“What?” Will squawked. “Why?”
Eddie licked his lips. “Little, teeny, tiny uniforms.” He emphasized the point holding his fingers not that far apart.
Dustin snorted. “Can’t be any worse than the basketball shorts.”
Steve looked upwards as he chewed on the bottom of his lip.
Dustin’s eyes bulged out of his head. “How much worse are we talking about here?”
“Speedo.”
Lucas frowned. “What the fuck is a Speedo?”
Eddie was practically vibrating in his skin. “Can I tell them, Stevie? Can I please?”
Steve let out a little sigh. The sigh the Party lovingly called his mom sigh. It was the sound he made when he knew no mater what he did it was going to end badly for him, so he just...let it happen.
He waved at Eddie to go ahead.
“Instead of swim trunks, that have a leg on them,” Eddie crowed, “Speedos are swim underpants. They cover the junk, the ass, and that’s it.”
“And you deliberately wore these things?” Max asked in interest. More interest than Lucas or any of the guys were comfortable with.
“I’m good at it,” Steve said, blush creeping up his ears and down his throat from the stain on his cheeks. “The uniform wasn’t as bad Eddie’s making it out to be.”
Gareth snorted. “Nope, they really are that bad. There was a period of time where–”
Eddie slammed his hand over Gareth’s mouth. “There’s no need to tell them about that, Gare.”
Steve looked over at Brian.
“Your senior year Eddie forced all of Hellfire to watch your meets.”
“Bri!” Eddie protested.
Steve looked over at Eddie and raised an eyebrow. “You like the...what was you it called it,” he said tapping his finger on his lips, “the ‘little, teeny, tiny’ uniform, Eds?”
Eddie threw his arms in the air. “I am but a gay man in a small town, so sue me!”
“I always preferred the lifeguard uniforms at the community pool,” Steve said. “Less wedgies.”
“Babe,” Eddie scoffed, “those shorts and tank left very little to the imagination. At least with the Speedo you knew what you were getting. With the lifeguard uniform it was all fantasy.”
Steve laughed. “I bet you were the kind who faked drowning to get CPR from their favorite lifeguard.”
“I can honestly say, I’ve never done that.”
“Yeah?” Steve asked all smiles. “Can you prove that?”
Eddie got up close to him and whispered, “Yeah, darlin’. I think I would have remembered you rescuing me before the Upside Down.” He winked at him and sauntered off. The rest of the band hastily said their goodbyes and hurried after their ride home.
Steve’s face was as red as his old life guard uniform. “Right. Let’s get home, yeah?”
Dustin eye’s narrowed at him for a moment. “Steve Harrington, are you crushing on my DM?”
The remaining eight looked at Dustin in shock.
“Dude!” Will hissed. “You can’t just ask that in public! What if someone overheard you?”
Dustin looked around and waved his hand around him. “There is literally no one here. I wouldn’t do that if I didn’t think it was a safe time to ask. But I’m going home with my mom as soon as she gets here and I will not be stymied.”
Steve ducked his head. “And if I did like boys, that would be okay with everyone?”
Everyone just looked around at each other and there was this collective shrug.
“Do you still like girls?” Max asked, genuinely curious.
Steve nodded shyly.
Lucas frowned. “You can like both?”
“Like David Bowie!” El said with her serene smile. “He likes both. Freddie Mercury from Queen, too.”
Steve snapped his fingers. “Exactly like that, El!”
Her smile grew.
“It’s okay if you like Eddie that way,” Mike said softly.
All the heads snapped to look at him.
He rolled his eyes. “Yes, okay. I have a lot to work on regarding the whole Lucas thing, but I’m not a complete ass.”
“Thank you,” El said and kissed his cheek. “You just have a lot growing up to do. We all do. We just need to give each other the chances to do so safely. Or at least that’s what Joyce keeps telling me.”
Steve gave her a hug. “Thanks, Supergirl.”
He looked out at all his friends. The people who were more his family then his own parents.
“I might have a small...” he raised his finger and thumb, “crush on a certain metalhead DM who recently joined the Party in March...”
Robin scoffed. “And by little he means huge!” She spread out her arms all the way out.
Dustin’s head snapped around to Steve. “If you two get together, he better treat you right. You deserve it.”
Steve blinked. Considering how Dustin had worded his original question, he had been sure that Dustin was going to him not to break Eddie’s heart.
He gave Dustin a hug and kissed the top of his head.
He really shouldn’t have doubted this kid.
Just then, Claudia pulled up in her station wagon and Dustin, El, Will and Mike all piled in after saying their goodbyes.
“He totally has the hots for you, by the way,” Max said dryly.
Steve blinked at her for a moment. “How do you know that? Does he spend all his days learning alt rock on his guitar or something for me?”
Max just blinked at him. “Huh. You aren’t as stupid as I thought.” And then she just started walking toward the car.
Steve scratched his cheek thoughtfully. “So to make sure I got this right, Max is saying Eddie has the hots for me because he’s been learning my favorite songs for me on his guitar?”
“That’s what it sounded like to me, man,” Lucas said with a half shrug.
“I’m with Lucas on this one,” Robin agreed. “So maybe you should do what I’ve been suggesting for the last three weeks and you know ASK HIM OUT!”
Lucas giggled.
“Shush you,” Steve admonished. “Get to the car.” He pointed at Robin. “You are spending the night with me to help plan out something cool.”
Robin saluted and Lucas just rolled his eyes and they all walked to the car to end another great night at the fair.
****
“Let’s play to your strengths,” Robin said, sitting cross-legged on Steve’s bed.
“Sports, sewing, and history,” Steve said, ticking them off on his fingers. “Fat lot of good that’s going to do me. It’s not as though I can whip out something overnight as a token of my affection.”
She rolled her eyes. “It doesn’t have to be something fancy. You could do something small. Like maybe use that fancy red thread you got at the weavers yesterday.”
He blushed. “I wouldn’t know where to start. Everything I know how to make is either winter stuff or something he’d never use.”
“He uses that handkerchief all the time,” Robin pointed out. “You could do something like that.”
Steve flopped dramatically on his back. “Not if he knew it was made from that fancy thread I got. He’d want to protect it.”
Robin had to give him that one. Because that would be an Eddie thing to do. And while the sentiment was sweet it would make Steve sad that he never used it.
Suddenly Steve sat up. “Oh!”
She blinked at him. “What’s ‘oh’?”
“He was telling me just last week,” he explained, “that the bag he used to hold all his dice for their game got a hole in it and it kept spilling the dice all over the inside of his backpack!”
Robin grinned. “Let’s pick out the best material to match that pretty thread.”
Steve nodded. “I just have to make a quick phone call to find out how big the bag should be and I can have this done in no time at all.”
He called Dustin and told him his idea. Dustin was ecstatic and told him everything he needed to know.
Robin and Steve then dug into his material stores and picked out a nice black felt and a satin red lining to make doubly sure Eddie wouldn’t lose the dice down the gaping maw that was his backpack.
He then showed Robin how to make patterns and cut them. Then he got to work.
Even with how easily Robin got bored, she watched the whole time with fascination. How he embroidered his pattern into what would be the front of the bag. How quickly and evenly Steve stitched the pieces of cloth together. He explained the process every step of the way and her eyes just lit up.
He turned the bag right side out and fitted it with silver draw string. He pulled it taut and held it up to Robin to see.
She reached out and gently took it from him. “That’s so cool. You do a bunch of these at work and send them to Katie as way to gauge reactions to your work, while you make bigger pieces.”
Steve licked his lips. “You really think these would sell?”
“And I think Eddie would be pleased as punch that he got the first official Harrington Pattern design.”
Steve took it back from her and smiled. “That would make it even more special, wouldn’t it?”
Robin grinned. “Yes, yes it would.”
He threw his arms around her. “You’re the best soulmate anyone could possibly ask for.”
She blushed but held him tight. “You too, Stevie.”
When Steve finally pulled back he tapped his finger on his lips. “Now what to make you.”
Robin squealed. “But you already made something awesome. The pirate costume was amazing, you don’t have to do more just because you made Eddie something.”
Steve rolled his eyes. “Yes, but I just tailored the clothes. I didn’t make them. I want to make you something.”
She scoffed. “Like the only thing I need are gloves for marching band. Since I have to have hand-me-downs, they are either too tight or way too big.”
His eyes lit up. “I’ve never made gloves before. That would be fun and interesting to try.”
“How would you even measure something like that?” Robin asked, a small amount of hope creeping into her voice.
Steve grinned. “Do you remember those ugly ass hand turkeys they made us draw in elementary school?”
“Yeah, so?”
“Just. Like. That.”
Her eyes went wide. “Wait are you serious?”
Steve just grinned.

Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13
I'm not 100% sure my history experience in school is universal in the US, but in order to bridge the gap you actually had to an elective history class called Twentieth Century. Like it was straight up bullshit. And before you ask, you can bet your ass I took that class. It was taught by my favorite teacher. Of course I took that class.

Missed a chapter? - Chapter 1 / Chapter 2 / Chapter 3 / Chapter 4 / Chapter 5
CHAPTER 6 ────────────────────
Y/N had always believed that she was the one who fell first, and perhaps fell the hardest.
Minho never wanted anyone’s attention, especially not Y/N Park’s. He hated having what felt like his own personal stalker. Though she claimed to merely keep him in check and reminding him who was in charge, her actions spoke otherwise.
Y/N had to be in charge.
Always.
She called the shots, made him bend the school rules for her, and directed his actions. She needed to be the one making decisions expecting him to follow.
It wasn’t that Minho was afraid of her. No, he had no trouble intimidating or breaking people when necessary.
But Minho didn’t want to break Y/N.
Minho allowed her to be in charge.
He was always aware that having her by his side benefited his family more than him. They had been sent to that Academy more for the connections it offered than for its education. The system had its own social hierarchy, and Y/N always ensured she was at the top.
Yet, it was ironic.
Despite her domineering presence, Y/N had no one to truly call friends. She was always the one who got away with misbehaving easily, the one whose parents had “donated” the baseball field to the school, the one everyone wanted on their side. But Y/N had no one by her side.
He could tell easily.
She was too snobby, too stubborn. She liked to boss people around. A thirteen year old who acted as if she were an adult.
And at the academy entrance ceremony, Minho knew immediately that she was someone he needed to stay away from.
Y/N Park was the type who would easily provoke him. She was someone who would piss him off, and the mask of pretend he made with so much effort would slip in her presence.
So he kept his distance, ensuring their paths never crossed.
Perhaps he had grown too comfortable. His guard was down, and she set her sights on him like a predator.
Minho wouldn’t be lying if he said his life would have been a little easier if they hadn’t crossed paths in school. It would have gone according to the schemes, the plans, he had woven for himself and getting back at his family, sometime during his formative years.
Minho wouldn’t have cared about Y/N’s opinions or remarks. What she thought of him, how she followed him with her gaze.
She would have been just another name to memorize. Another face to recognize at social gatherings and business meetings. Maybe he would have flirted with her. Maybe offered false compliments, flashed a smile, charmed her like he would any other daughter of the elite.
But even the thought of playing that game of pretend with her made him question himself.
It wasn’t a secret that the heiress of the Park Family took Minho’s opinion of her seriously. That she liked him, perhaps romantically as well. And Minho played into that, humoring her.
For a long time.
Y/N was someone he should be wary about. Someone he should and did keep close but not too close. But Y/N was never his enemy.
Minho did not hate her. He could probably never get himself to no matter how hard he tired to pretend. And no matter how well he thought he knew her, she would always surprise him further with her out of nowhere actions. Y/N Park was able to easily read Minho like an open book, while Minho always faltered when it came to peering into her gaze.
Her laser vision easily saw through his facade.
She automatically knew when he was uncomfortable, figured out when he wasn’t okay. Even if the polite grin on his face was wide. Her loud voice dripping with sarcasm, her snarky remarks calling out whoever made Minho grip his hands at his side, was something Minho would never be able to forget.
Sometimes he himself gets surprised at himself when he thinks back to just how long he had tolerated her. Yet always allowed her to linger by his side.
The first time he chuckled in her presence, he mentally reprimanded himself.
The first time their hands brushed together, he pretended.
The first time his eyes lingered on her lips, he realized he was doomed.
He built his walls higher. In denial.
The night he kissed her, he knew.
Y/N was in charge. Y/N had always been the one in charge.
Minho fell first and Minho fell the hardest.
───────────────────────
Y/N would have left that day determined to hate Minho.
Attempting to hate him as much as he did her.
Her stubbornness already drove her to ensure Lee Minho would never get another chance to see her a sobbing mess, never hear her silent pleas for him to look at her the way she looked at him. Perhaps even tell her to stay.
But then she found herself in his grip. His desperate eyes locked onto her wide, teary eyes in the silence of the elevator.
Y/N wasn’t sure how they had ended up in that situation.
One moment, she was in the elevator, preparing to say goodbye to Minho and head off to New York. The next, Minho had stopped the steel doors from closing, pulled her out, and into the next empty room.
Her tears had blurred her vision, her nose felt stuffy from crying. The silence and their close position reminded her of the night of her engagement.
But unlike that night at The Rose Hotel, today Minho had her pinned against the door in a random storage room full of shelves and boxes at L Corp.
She could see him clenching his teeth, his eyes locked onto hers, his outstretched arms trapping her between them.
“Look into my eyes.” He whispered.
He prayed she could read them as easily as she always did. Y/N sniffed, her eyes slowly lifting to meet his determined gaze. He sighed, his brows relaxing into a soft expression she rarely got a glimpse of.
“How…can you think I hate you—how can I possibly hate you?” His tone was gentle, tinged with an unsettling frustration. A little desperation.
“But you’ve never said you loved me either.” She replied, her cheeks flushed and stinging from the tears that had streamed down.
Minho glanced down at their feet, nearly touching, before looking back into her eyes, his own gaze glossy and genuine.
“I can never hate you.” Minho admitted, his certainty making her heart clench.
Y/N drew in a breath, ready to respond, but he continued before she could speak. Afraid she might jump to her own conclusions and leave him standing here alone.
“You said I have clear goals. I do. I want to be at the top. I want to take over this whole damn place and run it into the ground. I-I want every single member of the Lee Family to regret ever looking down on me. You—” He closed his eyes for a moment, containing whatever foreign emotions that coursed through him, then locked his gaze back onto hers.
“You distract me. So, goddamn much.”
His words didn’t offer any comfort, instead they deepened the ache in Y/N’s chest. But Minho doesn’t allow her to misunderstand, like she had back in his office. Leaning in, Minho’s face hovered closer, his breath mingling with hers as he whispered.
“You’re not a goal of mine because you’re not something I want to conquer. I…I don’t know what love feels like, I don’t know how to give love. But Y/N, I do know that I can’t let you turn away from me… not now, not ever.” Minho confessed, his voice earnest and raw with emotions Y/N had never heard let alone seen.
Her gaze widened in surprise, eyes darting between his, trying to decipher their sincerity.
It was a confession.
A confusing one, but undeniably his true feelings.
It was unexpected, revealing a side of Minho she hadn't ever seen before. Y/N had always been a guesser when it came to Minho, always come up with her own conclusions of what he was thinking, what that look in his eyes meant. Most of the times she was easily able to interpret it. But here, now, standing in between his arms she was truly at a loss for words.
It felt surreal. Fascinating even.
He had never spoken such words to her, never hinted even at such depth of his feelings. All the years she had known him, he had maintained a facade of ambition and determination, hiding his true emotions behind a mask of fake smiles.
Y/N dropped her gaze, her eyes tracing the faint pinstripes of his black blazer, aware of his intense stare fixed upon her.
Then suddenly, a thought that had been eating away at the back of her mind for years, was finally uttered in this delicate moment.
“Lee Minho, did you kiss me that night?” Y/N whispered, her voice barely audible over the ringing silence that hung between them.
He was quiet for a few seconds. She could hear him inhale, his body pressed close to hers.
   “I did.” He finally admitted.
Deep down, Y/N had probably always known that the mystery stranger that had kissed her the night of her birthday had always been Lee Minho.
That the soft touch of his fingers grazing over her skin as he gently buckled her into the backseat was never a dream.
She looked up at him again, seeing the soft expression on his face. But his confirmation doesn’t bring her any joy, instead her brows furrowed, lingering questions continuing to swirl in her mind.
“Then why did you lie? You turned away from me many times. Why shouldn’t I turn away from you?” Her voice quivered slightly, frustration evident.
   “I…I was scared.”
Again. She was stunned by his delicate response. She blinked a few times, his unreadable eyes meeting hers, a glisten of tears visible in them.
“I have so many flaws. Y/N, I’m not a good person. I-I was scared of what would happen next—no, I knew what would happen next. I just didn’t want to get hurt.”
The tear that glided down his cheek fascinated the hysteric girl in between his outstretched arms.
Another first.
She had never seen him cry.
He hadn’t cried when she witnessed his father strike him that afternoon back at the academy.
He hadn’t cried when her engagement was announced.
For the first time, Y/N witnessed such a vulnerable expression on his face. She stood shocked and surprised that he even had that emotion in him.
Y/N bit her lower lip, inhaling sharply.
“Can you imagine living without me?” She finally whispered softly.
Minho looked at her, slowly shaking his head in a “no” before quickly turning his face to the side, trying to mask the tears that pricked in his eyes.
It never took much for Minho to placate Y/N Park.
She laughed gently, a tender sound, a result of such an endearing image. He looked cute.
Her hand instinctively reached out, touching his jaw, thumb grazing over the wet that pooled on his jawline and gently turned his face back towards her, seeking his gaze.
“Then that’s love, stupid.” Y/N said tenderly, her words carrying a mixture of amusement and affection, trying to ease the tension between them, a hint of playfulness in her smile.
He nodded. Finally, accepting.
Minho leaned into Y/N’s palms, her touch soothing amidst the turmoil of emotions. He felt himself relaxing, finally giving in to her warmth and everything that was happening.
He loved Y/N.
Admitting it felt freeing.
   “I do. I love you.”
Her lips widened into a bigger grin at his words, making Minho break into a small smile of his own. A silent chuckle escaped him as the heavy pressure on his chest lifted.
“You know... I’ve loved you since we were young?” She said, fingers softly grazing his cheek.
Minho was caught off guard by her confession, furrowing his brow slightly before a memory resurfaced. He responded in his characteristic straightforward manner, a hint of confusion laced in his tone.
“You put salt in my water the first time we properly spoke.”
Y/N burst into a hushed laughter, the sound filling the room and breaking the tension. An infectious laughter, the kind that Minho couldn’t help but mirror, despite himself.
“Just shut up and kiss me dummy.” She pulled on his jacket, her lips crashing against his.
He smiled into the kiss, his arms cradling her head gently before he enveloped her in a passionate kiss he had wanted to give her for so long. A sigh escaped his mouth, engulfing her in a wet and sloppy entanglement. The kind he’s pictured himself doing whenever his gaze lingered on her lips. Imagining what they tasted like.
On the eighth floor of L Corporation HQ, everyone had returned from their lunch break. People passed by the closed storage door, completely unaware that just behind it, their stoic and blunt leader was smiling and kissing the heiress of Rose Enterprises.
He was completely and utterly hers.
Lee Minho was one lucky bastard.
───────────────────────
Still Y/N had made a decision to leave, and despite a new possessiveness that spilled out of Minho, he did not keep her from going to New York.
And their game of pretend began.
But here she finally was on his birthday, showering him with kisses and pleasures that made his skin tingle. A graze of her fingers that made him hiss, body littered with goosebumps.
A sweet, sweet birthday present, unmatched to anything he’s ever received.
Y/N glanced up at Minho’s face, finding solace in the quiet of his bedroom. His eyes were closed, arm loosely holding her pressed to his naked skin. Amidst the tangled sheets and the warmth of their bodies, the silence was pleasant.
Her eyes settled on the almost unnoticeable cross pendant lying flat against his collarbone, her fingers automatically fiddling with it.
It wasn’t something Y/N had ever paid particular attention to, yet it was something he wore all the time. Hidden under the buttons of his dress shirts, she only caught glimpses of it when she had him undressed, pinned beneath her, or it dangling between them when he hovered over her.
“Are you religious?” Y/N asked softly, breaking the serene silence with a question that had lingered in her mind whenever she caught sight of the pendant.
Minho’s eyes flickered open, his expression thoughtful, as if her question had stirred deeper reflections within him. He glanced down at the cross, almost as if he had momentarily forgotten it was there.
“Ah. No.” He answered simply, head sinking back into the pillow.
Y/N’s fingers continued to gently trace the outline of the cross, light and curious.
“Why the cross? You always seem to have it on.” She inquired gently, head tilted upward as she studied him with affectionate curiosity.
His arm tightened around her slightly, other hand hovering over hers on the pendant.
“I’m not sure exactly. I’ve always just had it.” He replied, his gaze fixed on the ceiling, lost in thought.
“It must be important then.” Y/N remarked softly, feeling the steady beat of his heart beneath her cheek as she nestled back into his chest.
“You can say that, I guess.” He murmured, fingers running into her hair.
An unspoken understanding settled between them, a quiet acknowledgment of something deeper than words could explain.
Minho had some form of inkling about where the necklace had come from. And he could tell Y/N had guessed that too, her intuition keen as always.
His birth mother.
Minho was aware that Y/N knew of his lack of blood ties with the woman he called “mother.”
He didn’t know exactly when she had caught on, sometime in school perhaps?
Or maybe when they had returned?
His mother didn’t exactly do a great job in hiding her disgust of him. Especially with Y/N Park always hovering around him so close, she was bound to catch on.
But despite this unspoken knowledge between them, Minho never confronted her openly and she had never brought it up either.
And it wasn’t as if Minho hadn’t sought for answers.
From the moment the Lee family began to trust him with their inner workings, he had tirelessly pursued the truth. Yet, every path he explored seemed to lead to a dead end. As if someone was actively working against him, deliberately blocking him from uncovering the truth.
As if there was someone several steps ahead of him.
There had been a time when he harbored deep feelings for the woman who had given birth to him. She was his mother, after all.
Whenever his father cursed his “dirty mother,” claiming she was only after the family’s wealth, ruining his marriage and his life, young Minho seethed with anger. Yet, he clenched his fists and kept his rage in check.
But as time passed, even that faint yearning faded away, much like his morals.
Minho was smart. He knew right from wrong, he just didn’t care.
He didn’t care that covering up the misdeeds of every member of his so-called family was criminal.
He didn’t care that threatening a classmate by dangling him from the school roof for speaking ill of Y/N, was wrong.
Minho didn’t care when his father called his birth mother a “dirty whore”.
“Who knows if he even is my son?”
───────────────────────
The cries of a newborn echoed through the halls of the monastery, piercing the quiet as the sisters hurried about, encircling the sweating, weeping woman who had just given birth.
Outside, thunder roared loudly, and each flash of lightning illuminated the semi-darkness.
An elderly nun wrapped the crying infant in a blanket and handed him to his frantic mother.
He was born early. Yet despite his premature arrival, the child’s cries were strong and insistent, a testament to his will to live.
“Minho.” She whispered, gazing down at her baby.
Little did she know that he would experience the warmth of her embrace for only a week.
───────────────────────
Minho’s fingers moved instinctively to the clasp of the necklace around his neck, the metal cool against his skin. He undid the clasp, feeling the weight of the pendant that had always been a part of him resting in his palm.
His eyes flickered down at Y/N’s sleeping figure curled up next to him, a genuine smile spreading across his face.
In that moment, he realized once again that he cared about no one but her.
The return of the Park heiress was due in two days. But who would have known she secretly returned early to spend the next two days tangled up in Lee Minho’s sheets?
And after two days of secret bliss, the lovers separated like complete strangers. Like friends who had fallen apart.
A new game of pretend ensued.
Y/N Park had grown noticeably more mature, professional, and stunningly beautiful. Proposals for her hand came swiftly upon her official return. Yet, the underlying truth was that the elite families had finally caught wind of “The Rose Gardens” project.
The largest resort in the country.
Every family wanted a stake in it, wanted their businesses to be a part of it. From owners of the biggest restaurant chains to leading mall names in society, all seemed to trail behind the Parks. And Y/N was at the center of it, her time in New York preparing her to manage such a large project, with her father at her side.
This also meant more encounters with her secret lover.
Yet Minho would walk past Y/N at events and general meetings, maintaining a facade of indifference. His gaze was fixed ahead, as if the sight of her tucking her hair behind her ears, laughing, and flirting with other men meant nothing to him. His eyes remained focused, as if they were invisible.
“God, that Minho is such a bore.”
Y/N giggled at the comment, her eyes briefly following his figure as he disappeared into the elevator. Further igniting the rumors that Lee Minho had fallen from Y/N Park’s good graces.
She laughed with the other men, but the cross pendant hanging around her neck clearly claimed her as his.
Of course he got back at her, pinning her against the next wall he found when there were no wandering eyes. Marking and kissing her with bites that truly embodied the possessive emotions she stirred within him. Y/N would hiss with her whimpers, eyes closing as she entangled him in her arms.
Y/N Park was his.
A few weeks after her return, Y/N visited the Lee Mansion, bringing gifts as tokens of goodwill. Her father’s advice and her time away had taught her the importance of stepping up in business and maintaining favorable relations with influential figures in society. Keeping them at just arms length. Things she hadn’t really done prior to almost being tied to Lee Jae.
L Corporation was just one of many.
She was warmly welcomed by Jookshin, Minho’s older cousin-sister, as well as the two madams of the Lee Residence, their pretty smiles flashing as they greeted her.
“We’ve missed you around here, Y/N.” Jookshin said, gesturing for Y/N to take the tea the maids had poured, a sad smile playing in her.
Although the last time they truly saw each other was at an event following Jae’s death.
“You’ve gotten so much prettier. The foreign temperatures must have really been in your favor.” Minho’s mother laughed.
As the women continued their small talk, Y/N observed them, laughing along. They showered exaggerated compliments on her gifts, their giggles and murmurs eventually catching the attention of the patriarch. Chairman Lee emerged, his secretary trailing behind like a faithful dog.
“I was wondering where all this liveliness was coming from. I see Y/N has visited.” The old man chuckled, joining them at the coffee table.
Another round of small talk followed, with everyone skirting around topics related to Lee Jae, business or even the resort project. Instead, the old man began telling Y/N about the flower gardens he’s visited over the past year, creating his very own collection of rare plants. Y/N humored him, listening intently as if she cared.
After she left, the mood among the women of the Lee family shifted dramatically. As business friends in their circle always did.
“Why did she even bother coming? Just to show off?” One of them remarked.
“The gifts weren’t all that impressive.” Another added dismissively.
“It’s because she can’t fry Minho’s brains anymore, that’s why.” Jookshin laughed, prompting the mother and aunt to chuckle along.
Grandfather Lee cleared his throat, reminding them of his presence.
“Ah, grandfather, why don’t you go rest now?” His granddaughter suggested with a smile.
He nodded and headed to his room, followed by Secretary Cha.
Settling into his chair at his desk, he grumbled, “That little wench. Who knows what she says about me behind my back.”
Yet, Jookshin wasn’t important enough for his thoughts to linger on her. The old man’s mind returned to Y/N Park. Clearly, she wasn’t here just for tea and tales about plants.
The secretary could sense his superior’s thoughts and cleared his throat.
“Maybe she’s trying to find a way to get Vice-President Lee back under her influence.” Secretary Cha speculated.
Chairman Lee chuckled softly at the suggestion.
“She doesn’t have to. That kid had never cut loose from her grip in the first place.” He remarked with a wry smile, leaving the secretary confused.
Minho, you sly dog.
“Didn’t you see the necklace dangling around her neck?”
The youngest son of the Lee family wasn’t one to attract attention. He had no scandals to his name and spent most of his teenage years studying abroad, honing the skills the family prized. Handsome and charismatic, he occasionally used his looks to charm young women from other families but otherwise conducted himself discreetly, avoiding notice.
But Chairman Lee.
The patriarch of the family always had his eyes peeled. He kept the deepest, darkest secrets of every member close to his chest.
He knew about his second son, Doyoung’s affair with the maid back then.
He knew his oldest, Mooyoung harbored disdain for his wife, believing her to be an airhead, the former beauty queen nothing but a trophy wife.
He knew why Jihoon would bolt whenever given the chance.
He knew how Joohyeon had killed Jae.
And he knew Minho. Perhaps better than anyone else.
Like the back of his hand.
A few years back, there was a banquet with Sorewa Airlines and some big achievement that had made. A grand affair, though beneath the surface, it was just another networking event masquerading as a celebration. Every attendee was eager to advance their own interests and fill their pockets.
Chairman Lee, who had retired several years prior and sparsely attended such gatherings, made a rare appearance due to his close ties with the head of Sorewa Airlines. His presence stirred considerable interest among the elite families, who still saw him as the visionary businessman who founded L Corporation.
The event drew a crowd of familiar faces and notable figures from various industries. The retired Chairman found himself swept up in a wave of admiration. No longer seen as a mere old man who enjoyed flowers and fishing, he was once again viewed as a role model, a key figure of his industry.
The banquet hall buzzed with conversations and the clinking of glasses. Minho smiled as he exchanged pleasantries and clinked his wine glass with an older businessman and his daughter, who seemed to be around his age. He had managed to momentarily slip away from Y/N, who found herself held captive in a deep in conversation by her father’s side with his other acquaintances. Meanwhile, Chairman Lee laughed heartily with friends he hadn’t seen in some time. But despite his relaxed demeanor, his eyes were keenly observant, scanning the room with shrewd awareness and silently assessing everything happening around him.
Lee Joohyeon, accompanied by his then wife, the mayor’s daughter, was laughing away. But the old man was aware that they had just quarreled before arriving.
Lee Jihoon, wore a deep blue pants suit among his friends’ classic black, played billiards on the second floor. That eccentric bastard.
Lee Jungshin had a young actress by his side, though it was clear she was with him for the media attention.
Lee Jookshin, the materialistic granddaughter, flaunted a large diamond engagement ring from her doctor fiance, showing it off proudly.
Lee Jae conversed with his father, exchanging small talk while his eyes frequently darted to the bar, clearly eager for a chance to slip away. Grandfather Lee chuckled to himself but took a second glance toward the exit. The youngest of the family was on his way out, pulled out by the young woman he had clinked glasses with not too long ago. A young woman who was not Y/N Park. This was something Minho had never done before.
The young lady slurred, her arm wrapping around Minho. The then twenty-two year old, helped her stand, glancing around at the empty halls for a helping hand. She kept repeating that her father would kill her if she were caught behaving so recklessly. Despite his frustration and the urge to abandon her, the polite young man guided her towards the rest-room. Though he would have preferred to leave her there.
His shirt was stained with a large spill of red wine, from the top down to the fourth button, tie and all.
Minho groaned, as he led her toward the restrooms, hoping no one sees them in such a compromising situation. God, especially Y/N. He glanced over his shoulder at the thought of her, half expecting her to have caught up with him.
“Miss Ryu, can you stand?” Minho asked, positioning her upright with his hands gripping her upper arms, her back against the wall next to the women’s bathroom sign.
“I feel like— “ She covered her mouth, pushing him back as she stumbled past the doors and into the bathroom.
Minho heard her retching just a few feet away, the sound of alcohol leaving her system echoing through the hallway. Annoyed, he swatted at his suit jacket where she had shoved him, as though it were an insect. He turned and left.
Entering the men’s room, he took in the brightly-lit but a seemingly empty space. He walked to the sink, staring at his reflection and the red wine staining his white shirt. He groaned again, loosening his tie. He felt sticky, and for a moment, he was tempted to splash wine in Miss Ryu’s face.
Undoing a few buttons of his shirt, Minho began washing his hands at the sink. As he focused on cleaning up the sticky mess, he noticed movement in the mirror’s reflection. His grandfather had entered. Chairman Lee looked as surprised to see his grandson, even more so in such a state.
“What happened here?” He asked, taking in Minho’s disheveled appearance.
“Wine accident.” Minho replied with a forced laugh, scrubbing his neck and chin with a towelette.
The chairman observed Minho through the mirror’s reflection, watching the young man clean up and gather his things.
“You should head home, your clothes are ruined. And take Jihoon with you as well. He’s an eyesore.” The grandfather muttered, the blue suit flashing in front of his eyes.
Minho nods with a smile, wishing his grandfather “goodnight” before heading out.
Chairman Lee loosened his tie, staring at his reflection and recalling the glint of the silver cross on Minho’s neck.
That damn necklace. ───────────────────────    “A terrible secret lover you say?” Minho raised his brow from over the kitchen counter. Y/N was sprawled out on his sofa, fingers absentmindedly playing with his cross that hung around her neck. Pointed gaze staring at him accusingly across the threshold.
He was always the best at everything. Always complimented. But he was never called terrible.
“Yes, terrible secret lover.” Y/N insisted, sitting up.
“What kind of man goes almost two years without seeing his girlfriend in person?!” She asked, almost shocked all over again.
The man in question, crossed his hands over his chest, his shirt undone, sleeves rolled up, tie nowhere to be found.
Not put together, not always sharp.
A disheveled state only reserved for Y/N.
“I saw you the last time I was in New York.” He countered.
“Yeah. Six months ago.” She groaned in annoyance.
“I was on a business trip, that too with Lee Jihoon!” He defended himself, trying to justify his actions.
Y/N shot him a look of disbelief, as if she were urging him to listen back to what he had uttered.
“You showed up the night before you had to leave. Then fell asleep on me.” She pouted.
Minho was drawing a blank, unable to refute. He couldn’t help but drop his head to laugh at himself, slowly making his way to her. Refusing to say he was wrong. That he was in fact a terrible secret lover. He could tell she was getting worked up, but for some reason he found it adorable.
It wasn’t that he never found aspects of her cute. It was the fact that he can express it clearly that made him relish in this new found emotion.
He could tease her, kiss her, hold her, without having to be afraid of what came next.
He could tell her she was adorable. He could tell her that she drove him fucking crazy.
No, show her that she drove him fucking crazy.
“Come here, let me redeem myself.” Minho said, motioning for her to come closer with his fingers, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he approached.
“Stay back.” Y/N gasped through a giggle, her resistance futile as her “terrible secret lover” pounced on her, eliciting a string of laughs from both of them.
From a young age, Minho had been taught that in the world of business, love had no place.
It was distracting and altered your thinking.
Yet, as his fingers intertwined with the giggling woman beneath him, lingering kisses down the skin of her throat, her plush lips welcoming him to envelop them in a sweet kiss, he called bullshit on that notion.
Minho was already pulling off her top, soft kisses peppered down the valley of her breasts, the sound of her sharp inhale, just enough to drive him insane.
Lee Minho was distracted and he did not care at all. ─────────────────────── The old man reviewed the inheritance shares, a ritual he performed each year. His annual evaluations, as he called them, were more critical now than ever since his entire fortune was at stake. He approached the task as if it were a game.
“It’s just a will.” Chairman Lee chuckled, handing the documents back to his secretary.
The secretary glanced at him, his gaze settling on the individual designated to receive the largest share of L Corporation. It was the same as last year, and the year before.
   “Three for three, right?”
The secretary looked back at his superior, who seemed to sense his unspoken thoughts.
“I can only see him advancing further.” The Old man said, his cheerful demeanor slowly fading as he leaned back in his seat.
“But… that stunt he pulled, sending Joohyeon away to take the vice president position, sometimes I doubt his timing. A good businessman knows when to play his cards, and that wasn’t it.” His tone was grim, hesitating with sudden thoughts.
“Vice President Lee is waiting for the perfect moment to reveal his relationship with Miss Park. It could be a game-changer, possibly even securing Park Hyunmin as his biggest supporter.” Secretary Cha responded, presenting a counterpoint to the Chairman’s concerns
“That’s another issue I’m worried about.”
The secretary looked puzzled.
“Love has no place in business. It’s a liability. I can’t put all my eggs in one basket just because he’s involved with Park Hyunmin’s daughter.” The old man said, his voice tinged with frustration.
“But Sir, despite all these reservations, you always support him from the shadows.”
Secretary Cha watched Chairman Lee sip his coffee thoughtfully.
“What can I do? He reminds me of myself.”
The secretary nodded in understanding, resealing the documents.
Aren’t you just like your father, Lee Minho?
