Fae Encounter Tips
1. Always be polite, smile, stand up straight, make eye contact. If you MUST count their fingers to ensure they're a fae, be very careful to do it subtly - staring for too long is very rude.
2. When they ask for your name, do NOT give it. Say "I cannot give you my name, however you may refer to me as [Insert Fake Name]".
2a. "Ainsel" (short for "Me Aan Sel", meaning "My Own Self") is a good fake name - any Fae trying to use said name to put a spell on you will only end up applying it to themselves. However, beware that this comes from a fairly famous fairytale, thus older and wiser Fae may be aware of the trick and not take kindly to it.
2b. A Fae may also extend their hand to "take" your name - the handing over gesture further solidifies the power they are taking over your identity. Do your best to avoid the handshake, even with a fake name - consider wearing an iron/silver/metallic ring. Not wanting to touch the Fae with it for fear of hurting them can be a believable and polite excuse.
2c. Do not ask a Fae for their name - they might take it as you trying to claim power over them. Ask them how you may refer to them, instead.
3. Do not refer to Fae as such directly to their face - call them one of the euphemistic terms, such as "Good/Fair/Blessed/Wee/Hill Folk", "The Good Neighbors" or "The People of Peace". Remember that "Fairy" and subsequently "Fae" is a shortening of "Fair Folk", designed for humans, and is essentially impolite slang.
4. Do not accept any gifts or favours. Fae do not give gifts without expecting something in return, and you do not want to owe them anything if you can help it.
4a. Accepting food will forever bind you to their realm - you will not be able to find your way back, and will soon forget your human life. This might be something you want - I can't make that judgement call for you.
4b. Decline politely - do NOT say thank you (as even without accepting the gift/favour, this will count as a debt), but do acknowledge their generosity. Have a good excuse ready.
4c. Should you, unwittingly, end up owing a Fae something, be sure to put out a dish of cream/milk as soon as you return home. Hope that they accept it as payment.
5. Do not follow a Fae to a third location. You never know when you'll be able to get back from it - even if a Fae is not malicious or mischevious, time does not pass for them as it does for us - you may return home to find that centuries have passed.
6. Do not lie, do not be rude, and do not yell - do try and use double-talk and thick quickly on your feet. Fae thrive on technicalities and loopholes, and exploiting them yourself will not be considered rude.
7. Ensure that the Fae doesn't owe YOU anything, either - insist you aren't able to help them if they ask, do not save them if they appear trapped, etc. A Fae owing you is no less dangerous than you owing a Fae - unless you're in DIRE need, make your best effort to leave the encounter with neither of you owing anything to the other.
8. Once you return home, check to see that nothing is missing, that nothing is broken, that your pets are safe and their fur isn't tangled, watch for small footprints or various little items that weren't there before - if you did everything right, there should be no signs of Fae interference.
8a. If you do find signs of Fae interference, put out an offering far away from your house as soon as possible.
8b. Items left by Fae in your house should be given back with said offering - loudly acknowledge their generosity and that you simply can't accept their offer. Return home quickly. Consider putting a horseshoe on your door.

for anyone interested in arthurian folklore and/or mythology around the world: an efficient source
recently i found this website and it has been incredibly helpful with research for my projects (and just research for interest's sake). for arthurian folklore, especially, there are not only many different versions of each story, but many different pronunciations for each name, many different names for each character - you get the idea. in my opinion, this website displays a good variety of each legend while still getting the point across rather simply.
here it is: Nightbringer
i'm going to be reblogging some other good websites/pages for folklore; view my blog page for the other ones :) also, if my fellow writers/nerds/autistic people out there want to add to this thread, i will appreciate and explore every single one of your suggestions

- Cinnabar Moth - 'Frequent in open grassy habitats including waste ground, railway banks, gardens and woodland rides but perhaps most frequent on well drained rabbit-grazed grassland, mature sand-dunes and heathland.' A moth with bright colours that act as warning signs displaying their toxicity. They are seldom eaten by predators. And can afford to live life as a day-flying moth, living life in the sunshine, because of this.
In symbology - 'This creature is seen as a symbol of hope during difficult times. The cinnabar moth has the power to help us let go of our old ways and embrace the new.'

Writing a story set in the future where someone figured out a way to create an exact duplicate of a person’s brain and this was used to basically make clones of famous people as well as fictional characters. Then all the rich people got bored and let their personal clones of Shakespeare go and now they’re all depressed.
Also the same company who did this also genetically engineered cat/dog/fox boys and girls but that was like 30 years ago. So one of the main characters is a depressed middle aged former twink cat boy.

┌─・。゚: ∘◦☾◦∘。゚. ─┐ Wraith └─・。゚: ∘◦☾◦∘。゚. ─┘
A new Mytho, brought to you by myself.
So, what are Wraith? Wraith are a spiritual creature, inspired by Celt/Gaul folklore, that have three distinct forms. Wraith wear the cloak and/or cape of an animal, allowing them to take on the form of that animal. Like a Selkie, but not restricted to the form of a seal. Wraith are a mainly female dominated spirit, but a proportion are male. Female wraith are labelled Morrigan (Moh-rri-gan) while the males are labelled Cernun (Ker-nun). The overall label is Wraith.
Now, lets get into everything!
So what are they? but in a little more depth. Well for many reasons Wraith can be considered a form of demon, though they are simply a spirit and ultimately creatures of the energy of nature. They are as helping as they are foreboding but can turn fiercely vengeful incredibly quickly. They are prone to bribes of sweet things and jewellery in order to get them to complete favours. A Wraith will always complete a favour, but often with an evil twist that will leave someone worse off than they were beforehand. Morrigan are by far the more vengeful of the two.
Cernun are the males, mostly, of horned/antlered species. Cernun are much more mischievous and wild than their Morrigan counterparts. Cernun are, despite being wild, known to be nurturing of those they favour and very protective of children; often being the ones to save human children from danger. They are protective as well, but in a gentle way. Cernun in their animal form are considerably larger than the normal animal of the species they take to, as are most Wraith. In their Wraith and human forms they have their animal skin cloak and they were a 'diadem' fashioned with the antlers of their animal.
Morrigan are the females, mostly, of more aggressive carnivorous mammals such as felines, wolves and foxes. They are often considered to be symbols of something bad to come as they are present upon death, with rumour saying they are guiders to the soul. These Wraith are known to present themselves to a side in a confrontation and the side they present to are considered blessed and will come out the victor. The Morrigan will not save but are protective, defensive, but the vicious protection and defence of a mother animal.
Forms; Wraith have three distinct forms they can be seen in. Their animal form, Wraith form and their human form. All three of these have differences. The animal form is the form that they take from the animal skin/fur they wear. The animal form is almost the same as the actual animal, with some differences. Eye colours will not be natural, the animal form has a much larger stature than the actual animal, and the animal form is able to express humanoid expression and even talk with the Wraiths voice. Not to mention the level of intelligence shown that a normal animal would not. The Wraith form is their primary form, if not in their animal form. It is a 'humanoid' form but not their human form. The Wraith form resembles a human in body and general looks but they appear more ethereal, with unnatural eye colourings, clear skin like nothing else and sharp teeth a human certainly does not have, nor do they have a personality a normal human would. Some wraith will even have faintly pointed ears and Morrigan with hair tips of smoke or mist. The human form is a form rarely used and only used when couplings or human interaction is absolutely required. But even in their human form they have off features like the unnatural eye colours and even sometimes, slightly sharp teeth.
Hollows are the beast once the Wraith has left. They are animal, essentially the just the skin once filled by the Wraith. The skin left to wander the earth until it returns to the ground to pass like the soul. Wraith do not live forever and will return back to nature and leave their animal skin when they deem they need to. Its is like dying, as they come back reborn, either with the same skin or another. Every wraith will return to the earth and rest until they have enough energy and spirit to come back and be reborn, and when they leave the skin is left to live out its days. Hollows simply look like the animal the skin is, but they have give away features that they were not born an animal. Hollow have pitch black eyes; the iris is black, the pupil and the sclera are all black. And shiny. They are also much larger in size than the animal they live with. These two things are the only dead giveaways. These hollows will live like a normal animal, though they can be seen closer to humans that a normal animal. Perhaps still with the instinct of their former selves. Though they are fear by humans immensely and do not provide protection or any hint of it. They are simply animals, haunted by instinct they don’t understand.

Tumblr is basically where I come to geek out about things, but I still write, and this is my latest project. ☝️
The Lion & The Owl is a web serial (yep, present-tense and everything) about a vengeful legionnaire who enslaves the druid that murdered his father, bringing chaos to his household in the Lepontine Alps.
On the left is Lucius Scipio Servius, a nepo baby alpha-douche in Caesar's 10th Legion. He's the heir of a prosperous landowner, and despite his chivalrous heroics when it comes to women, he loves it when men refuse his advances because he gets off on forcing them to fuck.
*Naturally, Skipio's lonely because most gays don't like being forced.*
Our strapping golden boy takes part in the second Roman invasion of Britain, where he crosses paths with a freaky druid-in-training.
Aedan the Ancalite (on the right) is an ornery little shit who loves fight-sex. He's gangly and morose and creeps most interested men out - yet the ladies adore him because he's an expert abortionist.
*Sadly, he's lonely because most gays don't like assaulting their boyfriends before knocking boots.*
Skipio & Aedan meet first in battle and then later in a pleasantly naughty circumstance. Any good-natured kink they might've shared by a waterfall, however, goes sideways when Aedan learns Scipio's dad killed his father in Belgica.
They're posed marriage style on this cover because they got a love thing, even if it's twisted, brutal, and rapey.
You can read the serial for free at Tapas, Pixiv, or AO3 - but its main home is at Bear House Serials.

5 of Swords. Murder of Crows Tarot by Corrado Roi.
Tumblr media
Amongst the more active Goddesses in the pagan community, the Goddess Morrigan screamed out to me when I saw this deck. Those that are familiar with this dark goddess know that she is associated with battle, death and of course crows and ravens. Who doesn’t love these beautifully mysterious birds?
I don’t know that I can call her one of my patrons since I have other deities more constant than She. When she does return, I am always full of awe and recognize her as the great Queen and commander I will follow. But, I am also always wary because she when she does show up things are about to get real real.
Part of my practice that involves the use of tarot is as a tool for communication. I asked the Goddess Morrigan what it is that she wants me to reflect on.
5 of Swords: Any time I draw this card I think of conflict or imbalance. Within the suit of swords, we are in the realm of air, this energy governs things like thoughts, logic, communication and the mind. This card is also associated with Venus is Aquarius, the planet of love and beauty lost in a world of detachment and unfamiliarity.
In this deck the card symbolizes the need to swing your sword merciless and true against the inescapable onslaught of the cruel world outside. Use force and win. The ferocity of this message is to use the element of air to attack one’s opponents. Force of willpower alone can move mountains, so they say. Strategy and forethought are always great weapons to sharpen too.

Here are my versions of Typhon/Abzu, Echidna/Tiamat, Ymir, and the Dagda!
WARNING: There are brief mentions of genitalia.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Telaphorszun/Abhejozur is fully capable of threatening serious harm and causing immense dread amongst those he comes across or witnesses him in person. He can be extremely annoying and shameful, which strangely makes him quite bold and startling. Despite his promiscuous nature, he’s very faithful, protective, and somewhat reliant on his mate, Ækhodzinus/Tiamosjur. He occasionally shows his undue and excessive pride in his appearance, prowess, and personal achievements. He has a ravenous appetite, showing no fear in acting upon his violent greediness for food. Telaphorszun/Abhejozur lacks proper consideration for others that aren’t his friends and family, and he possesses a drive to acquire authoritative power. When he’s blinded by pure rage, he falls into unrestrained surrender to impulse without regard, behaving in an uncontrollable way. He’s strict, yet patient and caring towards his children, and he has fairly excellent intelligence and wisdom. His wisdom gives him a better advantage of dealing things with partial cautiousness and passionate diligence.
He’s immensely gargantuan that his head brushes against the stars, possessing the upper torso of a grotesquely muscular man made from freshwater. He has two coiled European ratsnakes in place of legs and his waist is covered in ten bull heads, ten boar heads, ten serpent heads, ten lion heads, and ten leopard heads. He possesses pointed ears, carnivorous teeth, two serpentine tongues, and eyes that flash orange fire with each heartbeat. He has four monza red eyes of wattle sclera, chateau green pupils, and vertical turquoise slits in the middle. Telaphorszun’s/Abhejozur’s four dew-covered massive wings have a gradient of elm, rock spray, and tussock. His filthy old brick hair is tied into five braids and his beard is shaped into deliberate, beautifully-organised curls in tightly-coiled pillars. He wears a rounded eastern blue cap with seven superimposed pairs of platinum ox-horns, gilt-brass armlets, and a golden shawl with fiery silver patterning on the edges and tassels.
His dark aura can generate devastating storms, and he can breath fire, vomit molten lava, and create volcanic rocks that are used to hurl at his enemies. His presence is able to strike fear in the hearts of those who witness him, causing them to flee instantly. The magnitude of his strength can easily cause Earth to tremble and he’s incredibly durable, only being harmed by lightning bolts and tridents. Telaphorszun/Abhejozur is also phenomenally agile and it allows him to dodge most projectiles, and he possesses nearly absolute reflexes, senses, speed, and stamina. He can manipulate avalanches, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, hydrological disasters, meteorological disasters, wildfires, violent thunderstorms, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, and floods. He can spew large amounts of venom that can instantly poison two seas, quickly regenerate wounds, and shapeshift into madness-inducing forms. He’s able to use his wings to fly and his vocal chords to produce the sounds of any wild and domesticated animal. Telaphorszun/Abhejozur has the ability to create lakes, springs, rivers, wells, and other sources of freshwater by manipulating the primordial void.

FUN FACTS/EXTRA INFORMATION:
His closest friend is Ymejahor (or Asgelomur)
He deeply hates Odersvani for killing Ymejahor and Ziesowa for being brutally forced out of his mountainous territory where Mount Olympus is.
He absolutely hates humanity and most members of The Phaethon.
As an Æylphitus, his name means “cyclone, hurricane or smoking one”. In regards to his second name, Abhejozur means “deep water”.
Ækhodzinus/Tiamosjur is cunning with fierce manipulative tactics and a strong sense of prideful independence. She’s capable of showing fury and malignity in her actions, treating those who disrespect or annoy her and her brethren with savage cruelty. She prefers to viciously harm vile men and masculine entities as she views them as being inferior to their female counterparts. However, she possesses more tranquil, compassionate, and generous tendencies compared to her mate, Telaphorszun/Abhejozur. She has a fairly intense bloodlust and a desire for revenge against those who wronged virgin and pregnant women. She possesses a twisted enjoyment in seducing foolish and impressionable mortals, indulging in her unyielding libido. She experiences palpable mood swings from joyous and energetic to miserable and agitated, which somewhat makes her unpredictable and disorderly wild. Ækhodzinus/Tiamosjur occasionally behaves in a noisy and rude manner during public meetings and parties, but it depends on her current mood and appetite.
Her beautiful mesomorphic body with a lack of breasts, four arms, and a rounded belly is covered in a thin layer of fetid feijoa slime. She has swamp green skin and a gumbo cow udder with greyish speckles and faint purple veins. She has glancing hibiscus eyes with emerald pupils and tacha sclera, a forked tongue, four pointed ears, black claws, and fair rosy cheeks. The upper row of yellowed omnivorous teeth has long fleshy fangs where her canines should be, which indicates that she has a venom sac. Ækhodzinus/Tiamosjur possesses a thick, long mass of curly como hair with maroon flush sheen, and her human torso is protruding from a sea dragon. The sea dragon has the blue-green-white colouration of a Lake Kutubu rainbowfish and four shimmering avian luxor gold wings. Their forelegs and hind legs end in the talons of an eagle and their elongated, feathered necks match the hue of the wings. It also possesses ten snarling lioness heads with flesh-devouring, bone-crushing teeth, glowing purplish-red eyes, and upwards-pointed canine ears.
She has manipulative control over sea-scum, salt-marshes, and the corruptions of the earth in the form of rot, slime, polluted waters, illness, and disease. Ækhodzinus/Tiamosjur is able to quickly conceive and give birth to a spawn of terrible monsters in less than nine months. She can produce a venom that has the power to induce madness, change her size, and use freshwater to create Oceanids and Naiads. She’s practically immortal and ageless, but giants and heifer blood could cause her a sufficient amount of bodily harm. She possesses total authority over all monstrous dragons and snakes, and the ability to quickly regenerate any inflicted wounds. By utilising her massive bird wings, she’s able to fly and deflect magical melee and ranged attacks. She can inflict mortals with any curse imaginable and create rifts in reality to travel across the multiverse. Her aura can distort and warp the weather, crush mountains, and boil seas, and her physical strength, agility, speed, reflexes, senses, and stamina are as good as her mate’s. Ækhodzinus/Tiamosjur is capable of unleashing chaos during times of upheaval and generating air, electricity, and water.
FAMILY:
Unnamed dangerous sea god or “Phorcys” (father)
Unnamed sea monster goddess or “Keto” (mother)
Telaphorszun/Abhejozur (husband)
Uysemogila (child)
Basmuzogen (daughter)
Kusevhorija (son)
Lahtezomu (son)
Uyrszegalo (daughter)
Uyrdozhema (daughter)
Girtablemu (son)
Oymdabretus (son)
Unnamed nine-headed swamp dragon or “Hydra”
Unnamed dragon that guards golden sheep or “Colchian Dragon”
Unnamed hundred-headed dragon that guards golden apples or “Ladon”

Unnamed giant lion with skin that’s impervious to any weapon or “Nemean Lion”
Unnamed liver-devouring eagle or “Caucasian Eagle”
Kerabhonius (adoptive daughter)
Oyrthalenius (adoptive son)
ALIASES/NICKNAMES:
Echidna
Tiamat
The Serpent Womb
The Glistening One
Eel of the Stormy Pit
FUN FACTS/EXTRA INFORMATION:
Her husband often runs to her when he has been emotionally insulted or physically hurt.
Unlike her husband, she frankly doesn’t care much about her own children, but she does have a soft spot for Kerabhonius and Oyrthalenius.
As an Æylphitus, her name means “poisonous viper”. In regards to her second name, Tiamosjur means “sea”.
Ymejahor, born as Asgelomur, is motivated by purely animalistic instincts and is ruthlessly determined to get what they desire, uncaring to the plight of others. Due to being primarily moved by instinct, they often come off as disorderly wild and uncontrollable. They’re extremely cruel and violent towards a small portion of Æylphitus and all non-Æylphitus, finding sexual gratification in witnessing their torture, misery, and humiliation. They only act friendly, compassionate, and respectful towards their friends and family as they value their companionship.
They’re a hermaphroditic entity with a height slightly greater than Earth and a disturbingly mesomorphic body type that has a chiselled musculature and well-endowed breasts. They also have a partially rounded belly, a grotesque and spiky penis, and prominent thighs. Their porcelain skin has a hint of Columbia blue and jungle green with protruding red-violet veins on their neck, biceps, triceps, belly, and upper legs. They have icy blue ram horns and long straight, yet messy ghost white hair with streaks of platinum. They possess bloodshot heterochromia eyes, the right is a yellow-orange and the left is lavender with a sky blue pupil. Their crooked omnivorous teeth can crush bone and tree trunks, and their back is covered in snow-topped moss. They have razor-sharp claws and talons of unbreakable ice, a Fjäll cow tail, an aurochs skull necklace, and a loincloth of reindeer fur.
They have incalculable physical and mental condition and the ability to generate ice, snow, poisonous gases, hot embers, and dark voids. They can manipulate air, earth, fire, and water, change their size, and shapeshift into aurochsen, reindeers, giants, humans, and Ufrajozlens. They have a chilling cold aura that can easily create hail storms and blizzards, and freeze living creatures who get close to them. They’re entirely insusceptible to cold and warmer climates, and capable of creating giants from their armpits and lower legs. Due to their insatiable hunger, they can easily consume every known indigestible and digestible substance.

ALIASES/NICKNAMES:
Ymir
Aurgelmir
Brimir
Bláinn
Silent Progenitor
Sound of Clay
The Frost Giant
The Gravelly Scream
FUN FACTS/EXTRA INFORMATION:
They’re described as the first living creature who was the ancestor of all giants, being born from a yeasty venom that dripped from an icy river.
Their flesh formed the earth of Pangaea, their blood purified into bodies of water, their bones became the mountains, their hair created the trees, their helped to shape the clouds, their skull was used as sturdy protection for the sky, and their eyebrows were transformed into leylines as well as mortal and spiritual boundaries. Their jaw and teeth were broken down into rocks and pebbles, their right eye became the Sun, and their left eye was changed into Earth’s moon.
It’s commonly believed by many that their flesh and blood aided in the creation of the dwarves.
As an Æylphitus, their name means “to whine, hermaphrodite or twin”. In regards to their second name, Asgelomur means “shouting clay, sand-bellower or gravel-roarer”.
Dagtezobius is slovenly lecherous and oafish, being a result of his fun-loving, mischievous, and combat-oriented attitude. As a result of his strong fatherly instincts, he’s often gentle, friendly, and compassionate to those he views as family and friends. He only flies into a fit of rage when they have been hurt or wrongly abused, annihilating the perpetrator that’s responsible for their anguish. Whenever he feels threatened or frustrated, he comes off as strangely serious and fearsome. He’s fairly versatile, allowing him to utilise a variety of personal skills and adjust to new conditions. He places genuine value on humility, honesty, faithfulness, independence, and wisdom, which he strictly applies to his life choices and relationships. Dagtezobius seems to be full of clever humour and skilled at gaining an advantage through deceit, having a very good understanding of situations and possibilities. He’s eager to help in a beneficial and advantageous way, and noticeably adventurous, willing to take risks and try new methods.
He’s as tall as the largest mountain, possessing a trapezoidal endomorphic body with robust limbs, chiselled pecs, broad shoulders, a prominent belly, a well-endowed penis, four arms, and Irish elk antlers. His shoulder-length, curly hair and long, unruly beard are a shimmering maroon oak with streaks of old brick. He even has thick, bushy eyebrows and curly pecto-sterno-infraclavicular and sagittal hair of the same hue. He has heterochromia eyes, the right is sky blue and the left is jade, and a fair complexion with reddish-brown freckles on his face, neck, and hands. He wears a woollen saffron-yellow cloak, an ill-fitting linen copper rust tunic, and Connemara pony fur boots. He dons a knee-length pleated goblin green kilt with black, white, hippie blue, and gold stripes. In order to hold Dagtezobius’ kilt in place, he has a cow leather belt with a golden buckle, a red fox tail, and a lucky rabbit’s foot. He carries a shepherd's crook named Lorg Mór, a mace of dual nature named Lorg Anfaid, and a richly ornamented harp of oak named Uaithne. Uaithne could place the seasons in proper order and even command the wills and emotions of sentient beings. The head of Lorg Anfaid can slay nine men in a single swing, while its handle could revive the slain through physical touch. He also has a bottomless cauldron that’s tied to his back named Coire Ansic, which produces a bountiful feast, never runs empty, and acts as a portal to other dimensions.
He manipulates size, fertility, agriculture, manliness, druidry, wisdom, war treaties, traditional music, life, death, the weather, crops, time, and the four seasons. As a result of his absolute charisma, he has the ability to command the respect and admiration from both Æylphitus and mortals alike. He possesses omnicompetence, absolute strength, and total knowledge of the earth and fire. Dagtezobius has a perfected mastery over agriculture, meteorology, alchemy, astrology, conjuration, divination, herbalism, necromancy, music, and the art of war. He can prevent the sun from setting by holding it in place for nine months and summon a drift of pigs and a herd of cows.

Prompt #48: Date a God for a Day
The gods have come down to Earth. That is, all gods to have ever existed in human stories throughout the world (Greek, Norse, Japanese, Hindu, Egyptian, Polynesian, Chinese, Celtic, Germanic, Persian, Babylonian, African, Mayan, Inca, Aztec, Finnic, Native American, Buddhist, Australian Aboriginal, etc.). They are fascinated by how human culture has evolved and - after outlawing war and ensuring everyone’s living standard goes up just by being a huge, magical deterrent to evil - decide to spend some time among humans. Cue strange game shows such as “Date a God For a Day”. Your character is the lucky winner of one such blind date, with a deity of your choosing.

Do you ever hear a certain piece of music, and you stop everything you're doing and cancel all your plans because all of a sudden, you're like:
"MM yes, that scratches the creative itch. Now I must immerse myself fully into [enter your art form here] for 6 hours and forget to feed myself, feed my animals, wash my dishes, make the bed, and answer my phone, ultimately making myself go brain-dead by the time I'm done but super proud of the finished product."
All because of a few opening notes in a song you know.
