messy dxp WIP & stuff
Tumblr media
You remember that art therapy comic I made about the creative cycle? 🌧️ I think I’ve hit this part of the process:
Tumblr media
I was thinking about Ingo’s version of “The Fifth Sage” quest in Hero of Bombs, listening to the Tears of the Kingdom OST (a truly beautiful soundtrack, & “The Fifth Sage” tracks are all hauntingly so - highly recommend if you don’t mind spoilers 🖤 just start from “Thunderhead Isles”).
For some reason, when I listened to one of my favorite tracks (Construct Factory Stage 5), I suddenly knew exactly how I wanted this next part of DxP to go. Yet another time where Hero of Bombs has helped me when I got stuck in DxP REWRITE. 8u8 🩵
Moral of the story is: don’t feel bad about switching to another thing - sometimes the answer you were looking for one thing is hiding in that other thing.

Prelude to Pillow Lineage
🎧 Every follow helps me keep creating! If you'd like to support what I do, please consider following along. → soundcloud.com/enea-gore✨🖤🎶
Tumblr media
My memories are distant, and I don't recall a single face of my mother, but many, none resembling mine. This flesh feels as though it doesn't belong to me, yet one thing I'm certain of: my childhood was spent in solitude, often chaotic, but I remember it with a sweet fondness, just like this track with its dreamy, lounge-infused echoes.
Welcome to Bianco's childhood.
Notes on Pillow Lineage's Prelude: A Journey from Childhood to Destiny
I've decided to offer a prelude to Bianco's story, starting with his childhood—his early sorrows, but also his carefree moments, much like this piece that opens the horizon to what will become Bianco's odyssey. I know I was supposed to start this project after July 7th, after the Darkness in Fog EP concludes. However, I believe a standalone single is needed to introduce his relationship with his mother, highlighting Bianco's birth as an extension of his mother's flesh. The pain only a woman experiences is also Bianco's pain—a boundless human geometry. In the Italian South, a child often lacks an independent identity or a well-defined character; they become an extension of their parents, a possession of that flesh because they were born from the mother's own body. If she creates us, she can also destroy us. This is the parental backdrop of Southern Italy, and Bianco seems to embody it deeply in his childhood.

I know this is just a silly bad quality random screencap of a screencap that I found on facebook lol, BUT it's a succinct enough image to easily describe the concept in a quick/accessible way hopefully :
Tumblr media
-
(and of course, feel free to elaborate in tags, etc.! (especially elaborating about other senses as well.. can you "hear" in your mind just as well as you can "see"? taste? etc.) It's an interesting topic to me, as someone who's like a 4.5 at MOST lol. I'm curious what option will be the most common :0c )
#tumblr polls#hrmm... a little poll perhaps.. about a subject I find interesting.. since this image came across my facebook today#still really not feeling that well. no longer shaking violently and such but I still feel weird and weak much more than usual#They did say my markers for like infection or inflammation were elevated but that they werent sure of the cause so hopefully#it's nothing too serious. they did also say a lot of different things can cause that thing to be higher than normal but didn't go into spec#fics of what. maybe some of them are relatively benign or something. I still havent felt much back to normal since#I got really sick that one time though. I feel fine on and off but then little bouts of feeling weird and sick happen. hrmmm#ANYWAY.. looking for small ways to be productive. such as little doodles on evil ipad or editing game videos#or posting polls or cat pictures or some other like not very labor intensive things#I WISH I COULD FOCUS on writing HHRGGhh... I need to finish my game.. it would be so freeing.. a project that's been looming#over my head for like 5 years even though througouht that 5yrs I've probably spent a total of 3 months working on it lo.. ANYWAY#I still partially really cannot beleive that people CAN see stuff in their heads. There's always part of me that's thinking like. well mayb#e everyone DOES see the same exact thing but we just describe/conceptualize it so differently that we think we're talking about#different things when we're really not. But I have been assured by people I've talked to about it that they can GENUINELY really see#stuff in their heads like as vivid as an actual picture in real life or something. And the other senses are neat too. Like for exmaple I#can hear in my head much better than I can see imagery. I still CANNOT hear vividly like as if I were listening to actual music out loud..#but I think it's developed more than my sight. AND interesting how this varies the creative process. a friend I was talking to on the phone#said they write by literally just watching stuff play before them like a movie. where my process is COMPLETELY different. AND that affects#the content/what details we focus on as well as our individual styles of writing have differences that can be traced back to that.. hrmm

Hi, Vivienne! I am trying to write a story with a four-person rock band, but I am having a lot of trouble writing about how they converse/interact with each other when writing their songs. They are all in the same room coming up with the music, but I can't figure out how they would talk to each other. Any advice on this?
Thanks!
Mic Drops & Mood Swings: Bringing Your Band’s Songwriting to Life
First of all I want to extend a huge thanks to you for sending in my very first inbox request — you made my day! 🎉 I absolutely love answering questions and diving into all the creative stuff you’re curious about, so please don’t be shy. If you’ve got a burning writing question, story idea, or just want some advice, slide into my inbox anytime. Can’t wait to hear from more of you! 💌✨
Songwriting scenes can be super powerful because they reveal not just the creative process, but the personalities, tensions, and bonds within a band. When writing how band members interact while creating songs, consider these key points:
1. Showcase Individual Roles & Strengths
Each member brings something unique—whether it’s lyrics, melodies, rhythms, or ideas. Portray how they naturally take on these roles. For example, one might be the lyricist, another the melody maker, while another focuses on arrangement or beats. Their strengths shape how they communicate and collaborate.
Example:
Jax tapped out a beat on the drum pad while Mira hummed a melody. “This chorus needs your voice to lift it,” Jax said, nodding at Mira. She smiled, fingers ready on the keys.
2. Use Dialogue to Reveal Personality
Songwriting sessions often bubble with playful teasing, frustration, encouragement, or inspiration. Use realistic, casual dialogue to capture this — like interruptions, unfinished ideas, disagreements about style or direction, and moments of “aha!” discovery. This makes the scene feel lived-in and dynamic.
Example:
“That lyric’s too cheesy,” Leo teased, smirking. “No, it’s poetic!” Eva shot back, rolling her eyes.“Alright, how about we rewrite it together?”
3. Highlight Creative Tension & Compromise
Bands rarely agree on everything. Conflicts—whether subtle or heated—add depth. Maybe one wants to keep a song raw, another wants it polished. Showing their negotiation, occasional stubbornness, or compromise mirrors real-life artistic struggles.
Example:
“I want it raw, unpolished,” said Ash. “But we need something radio-friendly,” replied Sam. They stared at each other, then Sam grinned, “Okay, raw energy with a catchy hook?”
4. Describe the Atmosphere & Setting
Whether it’s a cramped garage, a cozy studio, or a sunlit living room, set the scene with sensory details — guitars tuning, coffee cups clinking, scribbled notes, late-night fatigue. This grounds readers in the space where creation happens, which is equally as important to break up dialogue.
Example:
The cramped basement smelled of old pizza boxes and sweat. Strings hummed under trembling fingers as sunlight filtered through dusty blinds.
5. Incorporate Nonverbal Communication
Bandmates often understand each other without words—exchanging glances, nods, riffs played quietly under breath, or smiles at a good line. These moments show trust and connection, or sometimes frustration and distance.
Example:
Without a word, Nina raised an eyebrow, and Max grinned back, fingers flying over the guitar strings.
6. Show Progress in Small Steps
Songwriting is rarely instant magic. Portray the gradual build—messing with chords, repeated lines, scraps of lyrics on napkins, reworking a chorus. This process mirrors real life and makes the final song feel earned.
Example:
The chorus still felt off. They rewrote the second line for the fifth time, laughter mixing with frustration.
7. Tie the Song to Emotions & Relationships
Songs often reflect what’s going on between band members or in their personal lives. Use the songwriting process to subtly explore these emotional undercurrents — unspoken feelings, unresolved tension, shared dreams.
Example:
As the melody swelled, so did the unspoken tension between them — notes filled with everything they couldn’t say aloud.
In conclusion…remember, while dialogue is a fantastic way to reveal character and drive the songwriting scene, don’t forget to balance it with unspoken moments—glances, gestures, silences, and the small details in the room. These quieter beats add depth, showing the emotions beneath the words and the unique connections (or tensions) between bandmates. It’s in the space between the lines that a scene truly comes alive.
By layering personalities, conflicts, and atmosphere, your songwriting scenes will come alive and reveal the heart of the band, not just their music.

Fleebay Beepo playlist! [youtube link] [zip link]
it's been foreverrr since i finished a character playlist--i missed doing this! tracklist and director's commentary under the cut teehee :)
if you disagree with any of my choices, just remember: 1) this is my playlist for me to listen to made of songs I like for me 2) you just don't see my vision 3) you don't know him like i do 4) make your own so i can disagree with yours too.
WDKYWMYAK -- Rabbit junk
This is a Killing Game After All -- Gadgetor
chance bought this cd from the comic store. i think the album is Doom-inspired? pretty cool! check it out! anyway this first section is pretty obviously all violence killing and maiming etc
3. All Futures -- The Armed
4. Bears -- Mass of the Fermenting Dregs
5. You Know What You Are -- Ministry
6. 1969 -- Boards of Canada
we're coming down out of the chaotic songs into some confusion for the amnesia arc, starting with ministry and boards of canada. 7 references an unwilling change of the self, and just fits the vibe right now. 8... should be obvious lol.
7. Long Road Home -- Oneohtrix Point Never
8. I Don't Remember -- Peter Gabriel
9. Come Back June -- Pussy
sorry i heard a psychedelic rock song that starts with a big cat meow and blacked out. EBONY MOMENT!!! this and the next couple songs are again more about contributing to the Feeling of the groovy train than a direct relation to the lyrics. though 10 can be justified by the fact he's british.
10. Hey, Mister Sun -- Bobby Sherman
11. Baby All the Time -- Julien Love (NOTE: NOT IN YT PLAYLIST)
12. Handlebars -- Flobots
i didn't think i would end up keeping this song when i threw it on here but it just... works really well structurally. sigh... okay well it kind of works thematically. we're moving into some merger au territory at this point, which is my way as a fan to give fleet more of a self-actualization arc. establish his own identity, make friends, accept his existence a bit more. 13 is again more focused on the caring environment of groovy train (and the idea that this won't last forever) but we'll come back around to merger in a second.
13. Cursis Melodías -- Natalia Lafourcade
14. Flagiolletes -- Billy Mahonie
15. Wake Up To Be You -- The Aesthetics
i'm so obsessed with this as a song from fleet to sonic. esp focused on the idea of fleet being the trauma dump that everyone wants dead and sonic being the one who gets to keep their friends. another lucky cd find--this time thrifted. this band still has their old website up--you can contact them if you'd like to get ahold of your own copy!
16. Every Home a Prison ft. Jello Biafra -- DJ Coldcut (Inevitable Alien Nation mix)
i'm in love with this song. we're back in merger au btw. fleet is now a goddamn hooligan in the street (teenager socializing outside with his friends).
17. Default -- Django Django
we're getting to the end of his life! canon, not au. once again on the idea of fleet (dying, cringe) being a comparative failure. the next two songs are our big explosive end! 18 is another band i found from a thrifted cd. lucky!
18. Werewolf -- Progger
19. light speed drift ft Kasane Teto + Adachi Rei -- frog96
the end! thanks for listening! ^_^ as a treat, YOU get to see the special bonus track: The Adventures of Little White Baby -- No Soap, Radio.

every minute you don't talk to me
i remember the promises we made
i remember all the things you said
you would always love me.
you would never want to hurt me.
i remember the days you were the one crying
and i was there
but here i am, in the same place you left me in
to rot alone
crying over you.
and you exist, oblivious
or maybe you're not, and you just have better things to do.
the words coming out of your mouth don't fit your actions,
and I'd rather just be told how you truly feel, rather than whatever you say
to keep the wool over my eyes.
the wool has long been soaked in blood.

"Finishing the Hat" is one of the most transcendent and universally beloved songs in all of Sondheim's works if not all of musical theater, and it also begins with the main character muttering and barking to himself for reasons that are very hard to explain to someone who is watching the song out of context.

My Uncomfortable Thoughts on Spotify & More...
Tumblr media
You can retrieve the news here: Financial Times News
A Heavy Heart & Spotify's Latest Mess
Okay, I'm not really sure how to process this news. Since this space is also a diary for me, a safe haven for me and for everyone who reads my posts, where I've found warmth and acceptance, it feels right to share what's on my mind.
I'll be straight up: I never wanted to talk about politics in my spaces. But so often, as it happens every single day, everything in the world affects us. And if it messes with how I express myself as an artist, it's only right to speak up, even if it's in a neutral tone. We all agree: war sucks. And this news is the shameful proof that they're using regular people as human garbage to play their power games. I don't even care who's right or wrong. It just sucks, plain and simple.
Spotify: The Final Straw?
That said. The investments by Spotify's founder are a verified fact; I double-checked the news to make sure it was true. My reaction? Spotify is already a dumpster fire for independent artists, but this is the final blow for anyone who has even a shred of ethics concerning human lives.
That it's a mess is common knowledge: between botted playlists, contracts with labels that are practically labor exploitation, delayed payments or worse, no payments at all. Plus, it's now a closed system based on followers and listen counts. So, even if you make amazing music but only get 3 listens a month, sorry, but people won't care about you because you're a nobody. It's a predatory policy against emerging and independent artists, or those who aren't "economically valued" (if you'll allow me the euphemism), and therefore can't afford profitable Meta ad campaigns to get noticed.
That's why, even though I still put stuff on Spotify for the few people who listen, I've pretty much given up caring. Part of that is the total lack of interaction, which has always been my priority: being part of a community.
My Next Move & The Crushing Reality
Now, this news. My reaction, for my own sanity, has been this: I'm ditching my distributor. I'll just keep making music here on Tumblr and on SoundCloud. It won't change anything, I'm just one person, and I won't make a difference, but at least I'll know I'm not part of this abhorrent story.
And then, in the music Discord servers I follow (because interaction there? Don't even get me started, it only exists for ulterior motives), there's the polite falseness of artists who claimed to be upset. But when someone said, "Let's do something, delete our Spotify profiles," they backed out, saying, "nothing will change; the only thing we can do is isolate ourselves, go to the mountains, and live as hermits." After hearing those statements, I'm more convinced than ever that humanity has lost its value, and turbocapitalism has swallowed us all whole.

This is purely a theory, but I genuinely believe that Harry had HS4 ready and was going to release it in the fall (there were a ton of rumors around October), but put a halt on it because of losing Liam. Like, not only out of respect for his grief, but because I feel like his perspective probably massively shifted. I almost wonder if he's been reworking it and is waiting now to release it when it feels right and feels reflective of his current mindset. I just don't see Harry as the kind of artists to leave something as it is after gaining an entirely new perspective on it. I feel like it might be a while before he does actually decide to release it, and honestly, I'm perfectly fine with that. I want the moment to feel right and the album to feel true to him, and I'll wait years if that's what it takes :')

Ethel Cain: i genuinely feel bad for non-autistic people who will never know what music can truly feel like. Music is not just something you listen to. I’m autistic, and so that definitely heightens sensory everything
films7 on X/Twitter - French version here
“I’m autistic, and so that definitely heightens sensory everything,” she explains when discussing her unique creative process. “I think that's why I have so much crossover between media, because it's like, there's never just one sense. Music is not just something you listen to. Film is not just something you watch. You get all these senses from all these things. When I'm producing music, I literally feel sometimes I can see it. I have to close my eyes, and I imagine the bass is the earth. I imagine the synths are rising up next to you, and I imagine the vocals are high in the sky, right in the center. I close my eyes and picture the sound around me – that's how I mix.” (Ethel Cain's Majestic Melodrama Is the Sound of the Future)
