THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AO3 SUBSCRIPTIONS
Did you know there are two ways to subscribe to get fic notifications on Archive of Our Own? I think some people may be confusing the two and assuming they're one and the same, but there's the user subscription and then there's the work subscription, and you'll get different email notifications depending on the button you press.
In my statistics, I can see that 802 people are subscribed to me, which means they get an email notification any time I upload a fic.
Meanwhile, 2,005 are subscribed to my works, and while some are/were WIPs like the ones I've outlined in yellow on the left, most are one-shots like the ones outlined in green on the left and everything on the right. So I think some people might be trying to subscribe to my page, but instead they're subscribing to a single work that'll never be updated again.
So here's how to do both!
To subscribe to a fic that's a work-in-progress so you don't miss chapter updates, there's a subscribe button on the fic itself in the upper right-hand corner.
If you want to subscribe to the writer, click on their user name below the title. You'll be taken to this page where there's another subscribe button in the upper right-hand corner:
Happy subscribing!

Hi, yeah, sorry to bother you but I saw you feel the same as me about my favorite character. Yeah because of the tags on that post. Yeah, I think we should be friends. Maybe move together even if you're down.

I know the genie is out of the bottle and you can't go back but dear GOD I hate the mainstreamification of fandom so much
I do NOT want authors or showrunners or actors to acknowledge us or talk about fanfic or fanart or fan theories! I do NOT want people asking questions of the canon creators and getting them answered (make up your own answers, like god intended!) I do NOT want companies making jokey advertisements aimed toward fandom!
I know that fandom was never entirely underground but like... I miss that fourth wall existing, you know?

The reason I love the Red Hood being a crime lord instead of a vigilante is that Crime Alley, functionally, doesn't have the same problems as the rest of Gotham. Their main problem isn't the mad Rogues running around, it's the cycle of poverty, violence, and crime that they're all stuck in. And you know what one of the main ways to combat this is? Community. Organizing. Working together.
Except Crime Alley can't just choose to do that. Who would choose to join such a risky proposition instead of a gang that you know can help protect your family? So the Red Hood comes in and he looks like he's just creating another gang, the same as all the others.
Except he's serious about not selling drugs to kids or people in danger of overdosing. Except he protects the working girls fiercely, even if it loses him money. Except all the money he does make goes straight into the community if it's not making sure his employees are alright.
Working within the system is often a necessary measure to fix the system. Except the system in the case of Crime Alley isn't the government that abandoned them, it's the volatile, terrible gang set up. So Red Hood didn't just work within the system, he took it over and made it work for him instead.
Is this perfect? No. The other bats have valid disagreements with Jason's way of doing things. But he is doing so much good.

I don't understand this fandom sometimes
why are people surprised that jax is an idiot if in the first/pilot episode he acts like an asshole? by the way i have no problem with people now hating jax. i just find it funny/weird that people didn't hate him before when he came out in the first episode while he was treating gangle poorly by pushing her.
(BTW PLEASE DON'T HARASS PEOPLE WHO HATE OR LOVE JAX, THIS IS JUST A COMIC MADE FOR FUN).

My absolute favorite trope in LOTR parodies is giving Frodo - because of Elijah Wood - the most gigantic, huge, absolute bluest eyes possible. I love it when the little guy is 80% eyes

the silliest people are the ones who make no content to promote their niche interests but keep complaining about popular characters/ships. you’re lazy and bitter and that’s all there is to it. “no one will interact with it—” someone will. there’s a community out there for everything. take the first step—look at it this way, if someone started posting about this interest of yours, wouldn’t that be great? why don’t you become that person? you are not automatically owed content.

Okay but there's being bothered when people don't understand your blorbo because you love them and want others to appreciate them too and there's being bothered when people don't understand your blorbo because they reflect some issues that are personal to you and then there's being bothered when people don't understand your blorbo because there's a pattern to the misunderstandings that reflects real world prejudices so clearly that it kind of acts as a litmus test for how they will actually treat people like you you know

One of my favorite Batfam headcanons I have is that, while the majority of the family has like alternate timelines where they go villain, Cass and Jason just don't.
Like, Bruce has the Batman who laughs, Dick has Ravager or Talon or Vampire King, Tim has gun batman, and I've seen fanfic evil versions of all the rest, but for Jason and Cass, that's just as bad as they get.
Like Cass killed a person one time and that was her low point.
And Jason kills a lot of people but except for when he was insane and occasionally went after heroes, he's very careful to never kill anyone who hasn't killed/raped/trafficked other people first.
And honestly? I can't imagine either of them doing anything worse than that. Like there's probably better versions, where neither ever had to fight or kill, but I doubt there are worse versions in the multiverse.
So what I'm saying is some magic annoying thing summons evil alternates of the batfamily, and it works for everyone but Cass and Jason, because they are already as bad as it gets for them (not very for Cass, murderous anti-villain for Jason).
I feel like this would piss everyone else off so badly.
