Came across free donuts in the break room at work. Stopped and stared at them for a moment. I even went in for a closer look to inspect the flavor options. Several looked delicious.
Then I stopped and really thought about it for a moment. It’s a sit on my butt at a desk work day. Do I really need that minute of tasty reward in exchange for a few hours of nutrition-less junk weighing down my gut?
Nope…moving along. Stack up another small win!

I had a post earlier, but I deleted it. I couldn't really tell if it got posted, but I decided I didn'twant to risk someone finding that post.. It was a story of what I was buying after a rough week.
Tumblr media
I think I was getting ready to make it really really easy to comfort eat. I had way too many pastries in my cart. At least 8 donuts. Raspberry danish (for mom, ha!) Vanilla Cake poppers [clearance, again, Ha! What an excuse] Made excuses for things.
But the reality is, if I do stuff like that, I am either going to regain all my weight or stay heavy.
Today was better, I think. Lots of soup. And low or no cal beverages. Healthy dinner. Healthy, low cal dessert.
Tomorrow is a new day. Let that be better also~

Hey, it's that time of year. The time where you might need more water and electrolytes because The Sun™. The time where you gotta carefully adjust to the climb in temperature so you don't get heat stroke moving from your cold house to your hot car (extreme temp shifts can be the pits for neurospicy, chronic sicky, and highly sensitive persons). The time when you might have to shift your diet and adjust your exercise so you don't overdo it. That time when wearing a mask can start to get a lot more challenging.
So... this is your reminder to (carefully) encourage yourself to adjust and get heat-conscious habits in place. Don't put yourself into shock. Stay hydrated. Eat foods that suit your constitution in the face of climbing temperatures. Move without overdoing it (for the love of the flesh you are tending, please practice self-awareness during workouts). Find spaces and places where you can more frequently take a break from wearing the mask (don't replace one crisis with another).
As seasons change, so must we; becoming one with Nature in how we adjust to the shifts in atmosphere. You're worth tending to. You do things that make life worth living. Make the next 4-6 months a little easier on yourself by making sure the base needs are being met accordingly, you cute lil houseplantcat.

I was always the child who never shut up: the nervous child, the fidgeting one. I was on ativan nerve medicine in 4th grade. Back then you didnt hear of ADD or ADHD, just unruly or children who talked too much. I had Unsatisfactory on every conduct report card I ever received. I am sure teachers got tired of telling me to pay attention or be still. I got tired of hearing it.
It was not until I was 50, and I had to see my mental health Dr at the VA for my PTSD and sexual abuse trauma check up did he explore my " going down the rabbit hole" as I called it tendencies. My brain never stops. I used to ask my hubby what he was thinking and his reply was " nothing". WHAT!! How can someone not be thinking anything? I did not understand this. My brain has at least 10 things going at any given moment. At night when my head hits the pillow, the entire day, plus the next day run through my mind? I'm sure some can relate. Anyway, my Dr placed me on medication, and lo and behold, the craziness of confussion subsided, for the 1st time in 50 years, one thought at a time came into focus, but then, I needed medicine to help me sleep. So that meant more meds. It was a cycle. I have began looking for more natural way of dealing with my ADHD and came across some studies done on Saffron.
Saffron is a spice derived from the dried stigmas (the female part of the flower) of the saffron crocus (Crocus sativus), which is known for its vibrant color, and very distinctive flavor. Saffron is primarily cultivated in Iran, but also in other regions like Spain, Greece, Morocco, and India, and is harvested by hand.
For those struggling with depression or ADHD, saffron is a natural mood enhancer that also boosts focus & attention. It helps reduce anxiety, calm the mind & works as well as some antidepressants—naturally, with fewer side effects. Research has found that 20- 30 mg of saffron taken daily for 6 weeks was comparable to Methylphenidate
Common brands: Daytrana, Quillivant XR, Cotempla XR-ODT.It is able to do this by having antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which may protect brain cells and improve neurotransmitter balance.
It is also safe for children, since it is natural, and in children, the information I found shows Saffron is more effective for treating hyperactivity symptoms, while methylphenidate( the pharmaceutical)is more effective for inattention symptoms.
And here is the the link i found for that research.
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9573091/
Again, these are suggestions, and something I am going to look into for myself. As much as I believe God told us from the beginning He gave us everything we needed for sustainability, I also believe He gave people special talents and knowledge. So please use prayer and discernment when it comes to your health.

Healthier you = Healthier year
Tumblr media
Often we set resolutions around physical health. For sure that is a top priority. The focus of this blog is your mental and emotional health. This focus relates to leaders, business owners, entrepreneurs, and employees (basically everyone). Mental health is not obvious. It is often the quiet measure of how well a person is doing, adjusting, excelling, and managing life.
Recently I ran into a business client and noticed they had lost weight. So I said something (ahem: I opened my mouth and firmly inserted my Cole Haan shoe!). It turns out that they lost weight because of a health problem.
Oops! They didn’t intend to lose weight that way, and I certainly didn’t intend to hurt them with an insensitive comment.
Take that a step further. When someone is struggling with their mental health (depression, anxiety, loss of a loved one, insecurity in an area of their, dealing with a toxic relationship, etc.), it is very hard for even a close friend to detect.
For all of us, keeping a pulse on our mental and emotional wellbeing will actually assist in our physical health too. They are interrelated and definitely influence each other.
A business friend of mine was working out diligently, getting all buff. His job was starting to get very busy and requiring more travel. As a result, he started to get overwhelmed between the ears.
He quit working out. Started enjoying a beer or two or seven, then cocktails as he was trying to get through the work-life stress. He decided to go “clean” on food and beverages. This helped him get his mojo back and both his mental and physical health mutually improved.
As we lead and work, serve and sell, keep focusing on what clears out our mind of unnecessary triggers. Make sure you are setting boundaries and going after life unhindered.
A healthier you translates into a healthier work and personal life. This year can be your healthiest year yet if you remain committed to your health—aspect of it. You can look forward to physically, emotional, mental, spiritual, and even financial health.
A toast to a healthier you in this new year!

The last month has been a wild ride. I was sick for a solid week and half, but, before and after, I've been moving more, eating better, and (trying) to improve my sleep. Healthier choices lead to better results overall. Tonight I meal prep for the week and hope for the best 👌

Climbing back aboard the better eating bus. A week in and I already feel more energized and alert throughout the day.
So easy to slip into unhealthy eating patterns of junk/processed foods and eating out. They provide us short term comfort. Those effects are short lived and soon you find yourself wanting more and getting caught in the cycle of eating foods that do not provide the proper healthy nutrients to power your body and mind all day long. It’s a tough cycle to break and easy to slip back into.
Try breaking out of it for a couple weeks. At first you’ll feel like garbage as your body craves the short burst energy it’s become accustomed to. But then you’ll start to notice how much better you feel without all that junk weighing you down.
