My Instagram Reels algorithm finally started showing me trans content after years of hoping it would but because the algorithm is shit and doesn’t understand what being trans means like a third of it is transfem furry content which is fine and all but I’m not transfem or a furry so I don’t really want to watch a dog explain how estrogen works but the only way to tell Instagram I don’t want to watch those videos is by not watching them so the algorithm learns but I am still watching them like every single time because I want to know if these are different transfem furries or if it’s just the same one every time and sometimes the video is kind of good but that also means Instagram thinks I want to keep watching them so it keeps giving me them and the cycle continues

Anyone Else Feeling Worn Out by Instagram?
Instagram feels like more of a challenge these days, with algorithms becoming unpredictable and lacking the intuitive energy that aligns with being a human user.
Gone are the days of it being an authentic space to truly create, connect, and be seen. The pressure to curate the perfect feed, follow trends, or even pay for visibility has become draining—especially for small business owners. I miss the days when we could share what we loved and build community authentically, without constantly thinking about numbers or staying relevant in the fast tides of the algorithm.
Is anyone else feeling the same? It seems like Instagram has lost its original vibe, and I’m craving spaces where creativity can flow naturally again. Tumblr feels refreshing—no pressure, just a place to be authentic.
It makes me feel so warm inside. My teen self gets to return to the place where her love of photography and emotional intelligence developed many moons ago in my lonely rural hometown, where Tumblr was my refuge and a place to connect with others like me.
What I love about Tumblr today is the peacefulness that comes after posting. It feels like you’re part of something, rather than having visibility anxiety.
There’s a real sense of authenticity and connection, none of the pressure that leaves you second-guessing every move. It’s a platform where creativity feels free, and I’m glad to be back again!
How are you all finding it? Are you exploring other platforms and moving away from the stress of Instagram?

If you’re ever struggling to think of comments that won’t shadow ban “political” content, just ask something open-ended while being “playfully controversial”. Examples below:
“What color notebooks do you all use for sience? I use orange”
“What do you all drink on a hot day? I drink a lot of hot chocolate”
“What temperature makes socks and sandals justifiable?”
“Do you all set your toilet paper towards you or the wall? I sit mine on top of the holder.”

Instagram Algorithm 2024
Like any other algorithm, Instagram has the same set of rules that are responsible for ranking the particular content on the platform, for instance, which post and reel should be shown to other Instagram users in the home feed or the explore page.
How does it work?
It looks at the information regarding the content and finds out from the behavior of the users what they are searching for or what they like to see, so according to their interests, it will arrange the content for the right people.
The goal of this algorithm is simply to provide a smooth user experience in terms of content. According to Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram, this is a ranking that gives favor to some posts more than others.
“I know a lot of you are skeptical of ranking,” said Mosseri in a reel way back in 2022, “but it does help us make sure that Instagram is more valuable to every person who uses the platform.”
Mosseri also said that “Instagram doesn’t have a singular algorithm that oversees what people do and don’t see on the app.”
Along with that, they are using a variety of algorithms, classifiers, and processes tailor-made specifically to watch each part of the app, such as posts, reels, searches, and more.
2024 algorithm mechanism
For Feed:
Interest: This includes analyzing the historical data of your search intent and past behavior with similar content.
Post Popularity: Check the analysis of the content and how it has responded in the past.
Poster Information: mining down the historical data, finding the content post frequency, and more.
Interaction History: Seeking the historical data of the user to see how you like the other user’s content and with what frequency.
For Stories:
User engagement: It will understand how much you engage with a particular account’s stories, including the DMs.
Viewing history: It analyzes the number of views on an account’s stories to prioritize those so that you don’t miss any updates.
Closeness: This will analyze your overall relationship with the author and how likely you are to be connected as friends or family.
For Reel:
User activity: It will mine down your past activities and behavior in terms of reels you have liked, saved, re-shared, commented on, and ultimately engaged with.
Author interaction: It will detect the interaction with the person who posted the reel before, which tells the algorithm about your level of interest in that particular content.
Reel information: This will analyze the nature and context of the reel to make it ready for the desired user.
Poster information: It is again similar to the feed and stories algorithm that will detect the relationship with the poster to find how relevant it is for you.
For the Explore Page:
Post information: This will look for the most popular post along with the interaction ratio within the particular period. “These signals matter much more in Explore than they do in Feed or Stories.”
Your activity in Explore: In this section, it will monitor and see the historical data of a particular user about their search, watch, or any other action on the post types or categories.
Interaction history: Basically, you will see your past interactions on the posts, the user profiles you visited, or any other interactions.
Information about the poster: This section will look at which posters have recently gained popularity among people. This helps the explore page boost the best content to reflect it on the user’s explore page.
Overall ranking factors
Relationship between the creator and the viewer: This is very useful for businesses that are seeking active community management, including responding to DMs and comments that can improve the brand’s visibility on Instagram.
Interest: What are the user interests? How do they react to the particular post type?
Relevancy: Nowadays, there is more focus on content relevancy; it should be relevant to the user’s intent.
Changes in the 2024 algorithm
The use of Instagram makes it popular among most of the young generation but also among the elder generation because of the content they deliver with accuracy, so in the same way, it is important to make sure the application runs perfectly and, most importantly, the security for the users.
Restricted contents:
With this new update, Instagram automatically places teens in the most restricted control settings. Concerning this, Instagram will provide a safer environment for the new teens to browse the content safely.
The new reels are less focused on reels:
Last year, the algorithm was more focused on reels. Adam Mosseri said on IG Live that the Instagram algorithm is shifting to give more weight to other types of content, such as stories and regular posts.
This change comes after feedback from users who felt that their feeds were becoming too saturated with reels.
Replayed now counts:
Previously, the algorithm was focused on the only first-time views that were counted as the reel’s view count, but in the latest algorithm, it has been changed so that every time you watch a reel, it will be counted as the view.
Reels with word marks are raked lower:
Reels with word marks will be ranked lower. Including the TikTok logo as well as watermarks from video editing platforms.
Mosseri did say that videos created outside of the Instagram app that don’t have a word are not affected.
European users can now see chronological feeds:
In response to the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA), Instagram has announced that people from Europe can have the option to see the posts, stories, and reels from the people that they follow, which will be ranked in chronological order from newest to oldest.
This feature will also apply to search results, which will no longer be personalized based on a user’s previous activities and interests.

Idk who will read this rn as I made this account yesterday because I decided to quit Instagram and move my art here. But I swear that I love the fact that Tumblr doesn't have a stupid ass algorithm that doesn't let most people see your creations, or the fact that hashtags are actually useful here.
For those who don't know, Instagram made a new update were you can't see the recent posts in hashtags unless they're popular (top posts and recent top posts) . So now it's only the algorithm that decides which posts it will let you see. Horrible.

Can brands beat the Instagram Algorithm?
Understanding the Instagram algorithm.
Let’s break it down in simple terms. The Instagram algorithm is like a smart computer program that decides what posts you see on your feed. It uses a few factors to decide which posts to show you and in what order.
One important factor is engagement. The algorithm looks at how many likes, comments, and shares a post gets. The more engagement a post has, the more likely it is to appear on people’s feeds.
Another factor is relevance. The algorithm tries to show you posts that it thinks you’ll be interested in based on your past behavior. It considers things like the accounts you follow, the posts you’ve liked, and the hashtags you interact with.
Timing also plays a role. The algorithm wants to show you fresh content, so it takes into account when a post was published. If you’re active on Instagram, you’re more likely to see recent posts.
Lastly, the algorithm may also consider the type of content you engage with the most. If you often like and comment on videos, for example, it might show you more video posts. Heiring a digital marketing agency can help you to understand more about it. Top Digital marketing agency has the power to beat the instagram algo
Understanding these factors can help brands optimize their content to increase their chances of appearing on people’s feeds. By creating engaging posts, using relevant hashtags, and posting at strategic times, brands can work with the algorithm to reach their target audience.
Strategies for increasing organic reach by Treasure Creatives — Digital Marketing Agency Following are some strategies for brands on Instagram Algorithm that can definitely help you for increasing organic reach on Instagram
1. Create Engaging Content: One of the most important ways to increase your organic reach is by creating content that captivates your audience. Be creative, authentic, and share content that resonates with your target audience. It could be stunning visuals, informative videos, or inspiring stories that grab attention and encourage people to like, comment, and share.
2. Use Relevant Hashtags: Hashtags are like little magic keys that unlock visibility on Instagram. Research and use hashtags that are relevant to your brand, industry, and target audience. This helps your content appear in hashtag feeds and explore pages, where users can discover and engage with your posts.
3. Foster Meaningful Interactions: Building a strong community is vital for organic reach. Engage with your followers by responding to comments, asking questions, and encouraging discussions. Show genuine interest in your audience’s opinions and experiences. This not only boosts engagement but also increases the likelihood of your content being seen by more people.
4. Collaborate with Influencers: Partnering with influencers in your niche can be a powerful way to expand your reach. Find influencers whose values align with your brand and collaborate on content or campaigns. Their followers are more likely to trust and engage with content recommended by someone they follow, leading to increased visibility for your brand.
5. Leverage User-Generated Content: Encourage your followers to create and share content related to your brand. User-generated content not only increases engagement but also acts as social proof, showing potential customers that others enjoy and endorse your brand. Repost and give credit to the creators, fostering a sense of community and encouraging others to participate.
Remember, these strategies take time and consistency to yield results. By implementing these tactics, brands can beat the instagram algorithm , organically grow their reach on Instagram and connect with a larger audience.
The role of analytics and insights in beating the Instagram Algorithm
Here are a few reasons why tracking and analyzing Instagram insights is significant:
1. Understanding Your Audience: Instagram insights provide you with demographic data about your followers, such as age, gender, and location. This knowledge helps you tailor your content to better resonate with your specific audience. For example, if you find that a majority of your followers are interested in fashion, you can create more fashion-related content to cater to their interests.
2. Identifying Top-performing Content: By analyzing the performance of your posts, you can identify which types of content receive the most engagement and reach. Insights such as likes, comments, and shares can give you a clear indication of what your audience finds valuable and engaging. You can then optimize your strategy by creating more of the content that resonates with your audience. This is one of the best strategies for brands on instagram finding the top-performing content.
3. Discovering Optimal Posting Times: Instagram insights also provide data on when your audience is most active on the platform. This information helps you determine the best times to post your content for maximum visibility and engagement. By scheduling your posts at these optimal times, you can increase the chances of reaching a larger audience and receiving higher engagement.
4. Tracking Campaign Performance: If you run Instagram ad campaigns, insights allow you to track the performance of your ads. You can monitor metrics such as impressions, click-through rates, and conversions to assess the effectiveness of your campaigns. This data helps you make data-driven decisions and optimize your ad spend for better results.
5. Adapting and Improving: Regularly tracking and analyzing Instagram insights enables you to adapt your content strategy based on real-time data. You can experiment with different content formats, themes, or captions and measure their impact on engagement. This iterative approach allows you to continuously refine your strategy and improve your results over time.
In conclusion, understanding the Instagram algorithm can help your brand to be visible on Instagram and reach a large audience. Hiring a digital marketing agency can be the solution for beating the Instagram Algorithm and it will help your brand thrive in the digital landscape.

normalize caring about numbers!!
I don't do the art/writing/ranting for nothing.
all the "do it for yourself" is bs and mainly said by large accounts who could post anything and would still get at least 700 likes.
nobody gives a shit about u if you have small following, especially the algorithm.
I barely get 20 likes on a post that I spend days on. And I made it to show people, not fucking just stare at it in my gallery.
Except for the p0rn but I don't post that one.
And its ironic how mfs with heavy activity will shit about those who despite having larger numbers, they get the smallest reach cause guess what. No one can mere their followers' activity. The site fucks up the algorithm so bad that it only shows the post to like 5% to the followers.

Struggling with Instagram Ads Cost? Fix Your Algorithm & Spend Smarter
Instagram has become a crucial platform for advertisers looking to tap into an engaged and diverse audience. However, if you’ve been running ads on Instagram for a while, you might have noticed a troubling trend: higher ad costs with fewer results. Rising costs, coupled with lower returns, can be frustrating for businesses trying to get the most out of their ad spend.

The good news is that you don’t have to settle for skyrocketing Instagram ad costs. By understanding and adjusting the way you interact with Instagram’s algorithm, you can lower your costs and achieve better outcomes. In this blog, we’ll explore how you can fix your approach to the algorithm and spend smarter on Instagram ads.
Why Are Instagram Ads So Expensive?
Before we jump into how to fix your Instagram ad strategy, let’s first understand why your costs may be higher than expected. Several factors contribute to increased ad costs on the platform, and understanding these can help you make adjustments to your strategy.
1. Increased Competition
Instagram's ad platform operates on an auction-based system. When multiple businesses are targeting the same audience, competition drives up the cost-per-click (CPC) and cost-per-impression (CPM). If you’re competing for the same audience as other brands, expect to see higher prices—especially during peak seasons or when targeting popular interests.
2. Algorithm Updates and Delivery Preferences
Instagram’s algorithm is constantly evolving to improve user experience, and this can affect the way your ads are delivered. If your content isn’t aligned with Instagram's latest preferences or objectives, your ads may not perform as well, and you may end up paying more for the same results.
3. Low Engagement & Ad Fatigue
Instagram’s algorithm rewards ads that generate high engagement. If your ads aren’t resonating with your audience—whether due to repetitive content or irrelevant messaging—Instagram may reduce the reach of your ads, driving up your costs to maintain visibility. This issue is known as ad fatigue, and it occurs when your audience has seen your ad too many times without interacting with it.
4. Poor Quality Score
Instagram’s algorithm factors in the relevance and quality of your ads when determining how much to charge. If your ads don’t generate high engagement or lead to conversions, Instagram may penalize you by showing your ads less frequently or charging you more to maintain visibility. Quality score plays a key role in your ad costs, and improving this can help lower your expenses.
Fix Your Algorithm & Spend Smarter
Now that we understand why your Instagram ads might be costing more than expected, let’s dive into the strategies you can use to reset your algorithm and spend smarter. These tips will help you lower your ad costs while improving performance.
1. Refine Your Targeting
One of the first steps to lowering your ad costs is refining your targeting. If you're targeting a broad audience, you're likely paying for people who aren’t interested in your product or service, leading to wasted ad spend.
Use Lookalike Audiences: Lookalike audiences help you reach people who share similar behaviors and characteristics to your best customers. This strategy allows you to target a more relevant group of people who are more likely to engage with your ad, lowering your costs.
Narrow Your Audience: Rather than casting a wide net, be specific about the demographic, interests, and behaviors you're targeting. The more focused your audience, the more cost-effective your ads will be.
Exclude Unqualified Audiences: Exclude users who are unlikely to convert. For example, if you're selling a product to new customers, exclude people who have already made a purchase or interacted with your business recently.
With a more targeted audience, Instagram’s algorithm will serve your ads to people more likely to convert, which can lower your costs.
2. Refresh Your Ad Creative
Ad fatigue is a real problem on Instagram, and running the same ads over and over can lead to declining engagement. To combat this, it’s important to refresh your ad creative regularly.
Test Different Formats: Instagram offers a variety of ad formats, including carousel ads, stories, and video ads. Test which formats perform best for your audience and rotate them regularly to keep things fresh.
Update Visuals and Messaging: Change up the images or videos you use, as well as the copy and call-to-actions (CTAs). Engaging visuals that align with your messaging are more likely to capture attention and generate clicks.
Use User-Generated Content: User-generated content (UGC) can increase trust and engagement, as potential customers will often trust the opinions of other users more than brand messaging. Encourage your customers to share photos or testimonials, and incorporate these into your ads.
By keeping your ad content fresh and engaging, you’ll help increase engagement rates, which Instagram’s algorithm will reward by reducing ad costs.
3. Boost Engagement to Improve Quality Score
The better your ad engagement, the better your quality score, which directly impacts the cost of your ads. Instagram’s algorithm favors ads that people interact with, so focus on increasing engagement with your ads.
Create Interactive Ads: Use polls, quizzes, or interactive elements in your Instagram Stories to drive engagement. The more interactions your ad receives, the more Instagram will favor it, potentially lowering costs.
Use Clear, Actionable CTAs: Encourage users to take action with CTAs like “Shop Now,” “Sign Up,” or “Learn More.” The clearer the CTA, the more likely users are to interact with your ad.
Incorporate Social Proof: If your ad features user testimonials or has positive reviews, it’s more likely to build trust and lead to higher engagement. Social proof can help your ad stand out and increase conversion rates.
The more engagement your ads generate, the more likely Instagram is to show them to a wider audience at a lower cost.
4. Leverage Retargeting to Reduce Costs
Retargeting ads are a powerful tool to reduce costs and improve ROI. Since you're targeting people who have already shown interest in your brand, the chances of conversion are much higher, which means Instagram will typically charge you less to reach these users.
Retarget Website Visitors: Show ads to users who have visited your website but haven’t yet completed a purchase. Retargeting them with a special offer or reminder can increase conversion rates.
Retarget Engaged Users: If someone has engaged with your Instagram content (liked a post, commented, or watched a story), retarget them with more relevant ads that encourage them to take the next step.
Retarget Abandoned Carts: Users who added products to their cart but didn’t complete the purchase are prime targets for retargeting ads. Offering a discount or limited-time deal can help bring them back to complete the transaction.
Retargeting reduces the need to spend on new leads and can help you maximize conversions without increasing your ad budget.
5. Use Campaign Budget Optimization (CBO)
Instagram’s Campaign Budget Optimization (CBO) feature allows you to set a budget for your entire campaign, and Instagram will automatically distribute it across your ad sets based on performance. This helps ensure that you’re spending your money on the best-performing ads, improving ROI.
With CBO, you don’t have to manually adjust budgets for each ad set. Instagram’s algorithm will make real-time adjustments to allocate your budget toward the highest-performing ads, helping you spend smarter and more efficiently.
6. Optimize for Lower Cost-Per-Action (CPA)
To reduce your ad costs, focus on optimizing for the lowest cost-per-action (CPA) possible. This means choosing campaign objectives that are aligned with your business goals, such as driving website traffic or increasing conversions. Instagram will then optimize your campaigns to achieve the lowest possible CPA, reducing your costs over time.
You can also set a bid cap or cost cap to ensure that Instagram doesn’t spend more than a certain amount on each conversion. By controlling your bids and setting specific objectives, you can better control your ad costs.
Conclusion
If you’re struggling with high Instagram ad costs, the solution often lies in understanding and adjusting your Instagram algorithm. By refining your targeting, refreshing your ad creatives, boosting engagement, and using strategies like retargeting and campaign budget optimization, you can lower your costs while improving performance.
The key to spending smarter is to continuously test, optimize, and adapt your approach to meet the needs of both Instagram's algorithm and your audience. With a little effort and strategic thinking, you can significantly improve your Instagram ad performance without breaking the bank. Start implementing these strategies today, and watch your costs go down while your results improve!

Is Instagram algorithm getting worse or is my account getting irrelevant ?
My posts usually don't have much interactions so I probably won't find people with the same issue but I created my art account on Instagram back in 2019, I had around 20-30 likes and it's been slowly growing and depending on what I post I usually had ~50-60 likes, I've even been able to get up to 100 likes a few years ago but it's only been going downhill ever since. Now I've been getting ~30-40 likes despite the fact that I post every week since 2022 and I just don't know what I am doing wrong ?? I still post mainly about the same fandoms (one of them being Splatoon which is still very active) so at this point I don't understand how can my drawings flop that much

POSTING INFO
Hiiii so this is probs not gonna reach a lot of ppl but I just thought I should put down a few info about my posts n all:
First of all, i try to be online on Tumblr and reblog stuff as much as possible cuz I don't want the same thing that happened to my insta acc to happen here (basically, I haven't posted in so long). But thankfully, its much easier to keep yourself motivated in Tumblr than on insta cause I feel like it reaches more ppl.
Second of all, im rlly new to Tumblr like I'm not that familiar with it so I don't really know how I'm supposed to post or what types of posts get more attention, so Im just basing this on insta's algorithm.
Srry this was rlly long, i hope i dont abandon this acc tbh lol and yeah it would be nice to get some info on how Tumblr works :P
