Researching as a Writer
Start Broad
begin with a list of more general topics and get specific as you go.
for example, research for a historical fantasy novel might follow a chain that looks like this:
life in the 1700s -> life in 1700s france -> 1700s french etiquette and lifestyle depending on class -> 1720s french fashion for middle and upper-middle class women.
starting with a general understanding of the topic you want to cover and narrowing down to specifics will make it easier to build on your knowledge as you go.
Think Critically
consider the source. if it doesn’t cite primary sources (for example, letters and photographs from a specific era and location), what sources does it cite? follow those sources if possible.
is the information reliable? is it provided by an educational institution or an expert on the subject?
who is the author? do they present any bias? what do they have to gain by promoting a specific mindset or conclusion? has any of their research been debunked?
Anecdotes
in general, anecdotal evidence is not sufficient for academic writing. luckily for you, this is a fiction writing page, and anecdotal evidence is usually fine!
work with a combination of scholarly sources and personal experience. if you’re trying to depict a specific health condition, you might consult medical sources about the technical details of the condition, as well as seeking firsthand accounts from people who have that condition.
remember that people are not monolithic! there are often forums online where people are more than happy to discuss their experiences; cross-consult these for common elements.
Lists
keep track of your sources!! if you ever need to consult something later on, it will be way easier to open a list of resources than go digging through your search history.
additionally, if you come across lists of sources compiled by other people, save those!! you are probably not the first person to research the specific topic you’re looking into, and there are entire websites dedicated to gathering research!
wordsnstuffblog.com/research has compilations of sources for everything from writing injuries to global period pieces by century.
Resources
if you can, check out your school or public library’s websites! they will often compile scholarly resources to access for free.
look for open access or open source sites like project gutenberg that archive and digitize historical documents and other works. scienceopen and the directory of open access journals are more of these. search using keywords!
keep an eye out for websites made specifically for educational purposes (those with .edu at the end of their addresses).

Hello!!! I hope you're doing well!! I would like to request cybertronian! Reader with like four arms and that's like the Queen or King of the battlefield in ancient Cybertron history (example: reader was the strongest Autobot ever in history and there's ancient data about reader and photos too ykyk what I'm getting👍🙏😭) and the reader then got summoned by Megatron or idk at that point but you can choose what happens!! :33 I hope this isn't too much😭
OH MY!!! I LOVE THIS!!! but reader is an autobot in this, please tell me if you want to see an decepticon version. You are a head taller than Megatron in this.
---------------------------------
You remembered everything about how you got killed, the crying before you lost your hearing, the optics looking in horror how the strongest autobot is about to die. Now? Nobody has any idea what happened, your body vanished before they started looking for it. Optimus carried your legacy as the one and last prime. He was your friend, but you didn't get to be friends that long. Since he was made so late and you met 10 years before the war started. It felt like you woke up immediately you fell down. Where am I? you think, but soon enough you hear a voice you recongize. Megatron. "The legend is real! Y/N! I have summoned you to help us decepticons to bring Cybertron back to life and rise as the Queen/King of the battlefields like you used to be!" used to? Used to?! "Since when I wasn't the Queen/King of the battlefields? And what do you mean summoned?" I put my upper hands on my waist and lower ones crossed. "You have been offline for quite a while, Y/N. Join us since I don't want to destroy such a fighter." What is he talking about? Before you could answer a spacebridge appeared. Well it's a groundbridge but you don't need to know that yet. Through the groundbridge walks Optimus Prime himself! "Orion?!" "OPTIMUS!" Both you and Megatron yelled. "Y/N DESTROY HIM!" Did he just order me around, used-to-be-low-level mech just ordered me around?! "Are you! GIVING ME! THE QUEEN/KING OF THE BATTLEFIELDS, ORDERS?" I jumped to attack Megatron, he dodged. Another swing and a hit aswell. Punching again, Megatron catched my servo, but is definitely struggling against all my strength. I almost forgot! I have four hands! You thought as you go and punch Megatron into his 'stomach'. You pick him up and throw him to the nearest cliff you see. "Y/n? It can't be." That low voice..turning around you look at the red n' blue mech. "Optimus?"
Optimus Prime
He missed you so much! So so so so much! No matter how emotionless he can be he definitely hugged you either at the spot where you two reunited or back at the base.
Before you were summoned and revived he used to look through your files. He always stared at the picture, trying to remember how you looked when he would do something smart or help them with something.
He would try (keyword! try) to spar with you as training, but he lost usually. (Much to his shock, he did think he was good at fighting.)
Would let you go alone to a mission (HOW) and lets you have fun with the kids every now and then.
He need help? You're there. He's losing to Megs? You're there to beat some decepticon aft.
He loves your four hands, anytime he would be hurt or just needs support all your hands would around him hugging him gently.
Ratchet
But in the battlefield? Oh oh I'm glad you asked. He doesn't know if he should be scared or proud to see you back in action. He is glad about that you would save him no matter what comes against.
Tumblr media
He had heard about you when Cybertron still had life on it's surface.
He never believed you're real, until the moment he sees you.
Four arms!? He had to check them out (for science research of course) and see how they work, because he's a medic!
Anytime you would get wounded he's rushing over to you.
He would be against it that you would go on the battlefield. You ALWAYS have to confront him that you hold the title queen/king of the battlefield.
He does like how nice and helpful you are. Since you're the queen/king of the battlefield he didn't think you would be nice and help him around the lab.
If he needs an substitute for work when he needs rest you would take his place immediately for his sake.
Tumblr media
Bumblebee
He would be a little scared of you since you beat Megatron so easily.
The moment you prove you wouldn't hurt any of the team he would be your son from now on.
You two always had each others backs.
He would love clinging on to one of your four arms.
He has any form of a problem? Don't worry you already know about it and you'll solve it.
If he would ever get hurt you would show the enemy why you hold the title as the queen/king of the battlefield
Before you arrived he used to read some datapads about you which he got from Optimus.
He would ask you to teach him how to fight.
Tumblr media
Arcee
She would be amazed by the amount of arms you have, but won't show it until she trusts you.
Would trust you the moment you beat Megatrons aft in front of her optics, because none of the cons would dare to even poke him.
She would be grateful that you saved her and others in the Battlefield.
Would be surprised to find some old files of you and would be more shocked to read them.
You both are badass in Jack's opinion.
Since you know how awful it's to lose a partner in the team you won't question her or how untrusting she is.
If she would get hurt in the middle of a fight you would carry her with one of your hands and fight others.
Tumblr media
Bulkhead
He would admire you and your strength. You just beat Megatron with ease!
He had heard rumours about someone like you when he was a wrecker back in Cybertron, but never believed them until now.
He always wants to go in battles with you to see how ruthless is the queen/king of the battlefields.
He was in trouble and cornered by vehicons in a energon mine? Those vehicons looked like they belonged in a scrapyard after you attacked them.
He would be a fanboy with wheeljack and praise the ground you walk on.
Training? Hell yea he would be in. Until he loses every single time.
Tumblr media
Wheeljack
Oh oh don't even get me started!
Would hate you, but love your fighting style at the same time.
"pshh, show off." Could be heard anytime you and him were in the battlefield the same time.
You did start to grow on him. Suddenly you weren't so bad in fighting, suddenly you weren't such a show off, suddenly he seemed to like your presence.
Now? You two are the destructive duo.
Ratchet would be worried about you more than wheeljack.
"ouch, that just broke my spark docbot." He was definitely kicked in his aft after that.
He would go on drives with you so he could get to know you better. (Surprisingly since he's such a loner)
Tumblr media
Smokescreen
He would run over to you the moment you walk into the base.
"YOU'RE REAL?!" apparently he has read about you before.
You wouldn't have any privacy for a week since he's like a golden retriever who clings to you 24/7
He would be flabbergasped how somebots in the team didn't trust you yet. "They're the strongest Autobot in history! Let's keep them, pleeeease!"
Like I said already. He's such a golden retriever. He needs your attention, he needs you to teach him fighting etc.
Now you're his new mom too! You got two new sons! Yippee i guess?
When he sees you in action, he has star eyes. You know when he talks about it when optimus first uses the star saber? He talks like that but even more excited!
Tumblr media
Ultra Magnus
Has high respect for you, but would hate how reckless you can be with wheeljack.
He would give you a lecture, but it falls through deaf audio receptors.
The moment he sees you in action he would doubt you less.
He knew that you used to exist, well now that you're actually alive he can't help but feel a little bit relieved that the autobots have the upperhand.
If you would call him Sir he would let you off easier.
Was surprised when he lost his hand that you supported him best you can. He didn't think that the queen/king of the battlefields could be so soft.
Denied it when you suggested that he's your adopted grumpy son, since he's always so worried about you. (He is your son now, but doesn't let the team know)
Tumblr media

hey, i don't want to put you out or anything, i was just wondering if like off the top of your head if you knew any disability studies articles/books/whatever that center (or even just feature) tic/involuntary movement disorders?
so the answer to this was pretty much no but i spent a bit of time poking around and turned up this 2023 undergraduate honors thesis (link) by a student with tourette’s which seems like a solid starting point for going down the citation rabbit hole!
that piece is “The Embodied Performance of Tics and Tourette Syndrome in the Academic Environment” by Benjamin Allen; i’m only ~1/4th through rn but they argue for a continuum of ticcing + criticize the diagnostic system so i’m comfortable reccing it on that front! the (non-medical) tic-related works cited there are:
i also searched a handful of disability studies journals for a variety of keywords (movement disorder, tic, tourette’s, involuntary movement, chorea, huntington’s) but didn’t turn up much unfortunately, so all but the first of this next list include someone with tics and/or involuntary movements rather than being about moving involuntarily.
haven’t read these so i can’t speak to the politics / quality (although i’ll make a post if i’m able to read more) but here’s what seemed potentially relevant! also if anything is paywalled please don’t give T&F your money lol, try SciHub or if you can’t find something i can ask around for somebody with institutional access!
Cultural Differences in Reactions to Tics and Tic Severity (2021)
Using virtual reality to implement disability studies’ advocacy principles: uncovering the perspectives of people with disability (2023)
I had every right to be there: discriminatory acts towards young people with disabilities on public transport (2020)
From comedy targets to comedy-makers: disability and comedy in live performance (2015)
From the Case Files: Reconstructing a history of involuntary sterilisation (2010)
i also want to mention “Movements of the Uncontrollable Body Part Two” by Bronwyn Valentine (2019), a creative writing piece about her experiences of embodiment + ableism with spina bifida that i first read pretty soon after it was published & went looking for after developing my movement disorder a year ago because it was so impactful. @fndportal also has some incredibly vital work.
also if you haven’t already read Rosemarie Garland-Thomson’s Staring: Why We Look, it’s not specifically about involuntary movements but definitely a core text for theorizing any visibilized disability.
i hope some of that is helpful!! if anybody checks any of these out i’d love to hear your thoughts/critiques! all the best to you & i hope these offer some resonance with + understanding of your experiences 💓💓

the" look at you doing all that arty shit" marky mark flower photo could be another contender for the horse cock tag, less Explicit, however, Bulge must be considered in this scientific analysis
ON THE STUDY OF HORSE COCK: a Qualitative Analysis of Mark Webber's Bulge

Cite this article! mwebber. (2023). On the Study of Horse Cock: a Qualitative Analysis of Mark Webber's Bulge. Tumblr Asks, 9(11), 6-9. https://doi.org/10.420/horsecock
ABSTRACT Mark Webber, 2015 WEC world champion and retired F1 driver, has terrorized the online world with his dick bulge for all the years he has been photographed. Whether this is due to a lack of well-fitting pants, or simply because his cock is massive, remains to be answered. Building on previous academic work by scholars such as @cedobols and @f1rstyasfk, this paper uses grounded theory to analyze the work of Clive Rose, a friend and photographer of Webber. It takes into account primarily the draping of Webber's pants, the shadows, and his stance to examine whether the work should be added to the existing dialogue surrounding Webber horse cock. We conclude that, though the photo demonstrates bulge, it is unfortunately not obvious enough to be added to the horse cock tag specifically. That said, we suggest the work be added to a new academic collection on Webber's love handles.

➽───────────────❥
In 2016, Mark Webber announced his retirement from motor racing for good, but this announcement didn't mean the end of his relevance to the racing world. With his limited appearances on television, and without the need to wear team-mandated uniforms, Webber began to gain popularity in online circles who'd never heard of him for one thing: his incredible dick bulge. At least, this is how the history goes; scholars such as bom have pinpointed the phenomenon of what is now called "Mark Webber Horse Cock" as beginning in the late 2000s, or indeed earlier (motorkink, 2022). Dutiful academics have taken the time since to contribute to the contemporary discussion around Mark Webber's bulge, and it is in this context that this paper aims to add to the conversation with Clive Rose's recent photographic work from Singapore, 2023. In this paper, we will use grounded theory to examine the photograph from an aesthetic, qualitative angle to answer whether or not it can be added to the seminal works of the Horse Cock portfolio. We will first discuss the existing literature around Webber's bulge, then justify our use of grounded theory. We will then partake in a detailed, critical analysis of Clive Rose's work. Following the analysis, we will discuss our findings to conclude that though the photo demonstrates bulge, it is unfortunately not obvious enough to be added to the horse cock tag specifically. Finally, we suggest avenues for further study and review.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Perhaps one of the most obvious and encapsulating examples of Mark Webber Horse Cock academia comes from this post the author made in early 2022 (multi2-1). To our knowledge, it is currently the only work that has broken containment regarding Horse Cock and attracted a new wave of critical thinking about Mark Webber's penis. Other works exist in Horse Cock literature, namely by acclaimed scholar bom cedobols, who has contributed much to the movement. The author is too lazy to hack it with Tumblr's shitty search engine, so imagine that the rest of the substantial lit review is source: trust me bro.
This project uses grounded theory to examine Clive Rose's work photographing Mark Webber. Conceived in 1967 by Anselm Strauss and Barney Glaser, grounded theory is as much a theory as it is a methodology (Mediani, 2017). It was created to merge quantitative and qualitative research methods (Greon et al., 2017). It is prescriptive, meaning it generates new theories to account for patterns in a study rather than apply existing theories, thus avoiding the trappings and limitations of existing theories and conceptual frameworks (Mediani). There are several reasons why this study does not use pre-existing frameworks to guide the research. Firstly, grounded theory allows for a looser combination of quantitative and qualitative lens with which to examine the data. It allows for the examination of arbitrary things, such as the shadows around a cropped photo of Mark Webber's crotch. Secondly, though this study of horse cock is not new, the field of research studying the relationship between random photos and dick bulges is an emerging field that is only gaining prevalence with advancements in technology. Thus, avoiding the limitations on perspective that come with pre-existing theories is a benefit in providing insight specific to Mark Webber's horse cock that might otherwise be lost.
Clive Rose's work can be found below. Rose has a prolific portfolio, most notably of beautiful Sebastian Vettel photos, and we thank him for his contribution to our cause (Rose, 2023).
Tumblr media
ANALYSIS
First, it is important to isolate the most relevant part of Rose's photo. We have taken the liberty to do so here:
Tumblr media
With the benefit of grounded theory, we have identified three key aspects to guide our analysis: the draping of Webber's pants, the shadows, and his stance. First, in examining the draping, we can see that he has pockets on either side. We can also see that the pants fit well; they leave ample breathing room and don't seem to hug his thighs, while simultaneously providing adequate definition to his dumpy, the likes of which we can extrapolate from the front.
Next, let us consider the shadows. They fall most prominently beneath the fold of his right pocket and in the dip towards his left thigh. They are also visible around where his bulge is, in the large crease leading to his right pocket.
Finally, Webber's stance is that of a man on the move, which we can deduce by focusing on his elevated right thigh. We can estimate, based on the rest of the photo, that Webber is walking, rather than running.
DISCUSSION
In our analysis, we highlighted how Webber's pants drape, how the shadows fall over and around his crotch, and his movement in the photo. Based on our analysis, we can reason our way logically through to a conclusive stance on whether or not Rose's photo should be added to the Horse Cock portfolio.
Webber's pockets, namely his right pocket, seems to take centre stage. The way the fabric of his pants drape, in addition to how the shadows fall, leads us to the notion that his pocket is folding as pants pockets do when one walks: outward. Assuming that Webber's pants have a zipper in the front, we can further presume that the front part of his pants are attached along its seam, thus creating the tension that causes his pocket to fold in such a manner.
The pocket seems to be the source of confusion. From a distance, or on a small screen such as a mobile device, the way it folds seems to suggest Mark's dick bulge. However, upon closer inspection, the bulge itself is barely present. As we are debating the merits of adding the photo to works under the horse cock tag, this is what Rose's case hinges on. Thus: we believe the photo should not be added.
CONCLUSION
This paper investigated Clive Rose's recent work from Singapore 2023 to answer the question of whether it should be considered among works demonstrating Mark Webber's dick bulge. It used grounded theory to identify three aspects of the photo we believed were significant: the draping of Webber's pants, how the shadows fell over his crotch, and his photographed stance. Upon analysis and discussion, it found that the photo should not be added to the horse cock tag on the basis of Webber's bulge not being obviously present, and cast blame on his pocket for inspiring hope.
It is a sinister illusion for Horse Cock theorists, but a significant one nonetheless. Negative results, as they say in the research world, are still results. That said, Rose's photo is not without merit, and we propose a new avenue of investigation where it may be relevant, out of the scope of this paper: Webber's love handles.

My book I just published! Over four years worth of research, traveling the coast, interviewing random locals in seaside towns, and much effort. As described on the book's back blurb above, it's a historical analysis of pirate folklore from Florida to Virginia's northernmost shores. The inside contains nearly two hundred entries of claims of pirate hauntings and buried treasure tales associated with pirates, that date from the 1700s, newspapers of the 19th century, old brochures and folklore books, modern word of mouth tales, and online claims. Each entry is presented as the tale is known, followed by my own notes regarding historical context surrounding the claim and of its' validity. Further each tale is analyzed as to where it came from, what year it began circulating, and so on. More than just a folklore book, it's a history book 'on' the folklore. The book recently went Live on Amazon for a number of countries outside of North America, however the listing is still in the process of becoming live for those in the US and Canada. I'll update again once it's available for us here! https://www.amazon.com/Pirate-Ghosts-Buried-Treasures-Southeast/dp/B0CJDBLTT6/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2ZAJ6SRVDZYKU&keywords=pirate+ghosts+%26+buried+treasure+marrow&qid=1695689334&sprefix=%2Caps%2C186&sr=8-1 If you do decide to make a purchase, please consider leaving an honest review, even short one-sentence reviews help indie authors considerably. Thanks mate!

do you have Any advice on researching Historical information? or Just.. Culture? Like any good Keywords to put in the search, websites ect? I may be Dumb but I always Struggle with Researching history Especially more intimate things like Fashion and furniture :(
this is actually a very tough question, because while fairly vague (sorry ... ) i know the answers for it, but my brain gets all scattered thinking about how to word it. sorry if this will be tough to read
i dont think there are any good keywords to look for other than the exact thing you want. you need to know what you are looking for, and the more broad the subject (for example, architecture as a whole), the harder it will be to get a specific result you want. you need to know exactly what are you looking for; the era, place, class. if youre not sure exactly what are you looking for yet, wikipedia probably has a page on it, even if broad
if you know exactly what are you looking for, then just... look for it:
online archives are your best friend; while looking through your local library architecture and ethnography sections can be very helpful and i highly encourage it (its fun too! geniuely. support your libraries) it can be harder to get what you need, especially since its, well, local. while i cannot give you any specific archives, as i dont know what are you looking for exactly, i can tell you that sometimes just googling a list of (your country) internet archives and clicking through them can work. its how i found a few regional polish archives. just be aware that some of them look and behave like they were made in 2002, and can be hard to navigate. but they are worth it, as they can have scans of old books, fashion and home magazines, old photography and sketches, fashion plates; very good things overall. personally i like downloading them so that i can get back to them whenever
some museums, libraries and universities have online archives avilable for public. when i was working in my local library i was actually tasked with making online scans of some magazines from 20 years ago. hellish work but digitalization is good and these places are very much worth looking for, but theyre often specific to their own little thing, so again, you need to know exactly what are you looking for. sometimes you dont even know what project has an archive; a very nice highland scottish archive i found on request of my mutual is either run or partnered with a charity, so really just look for archives. chances are you find something
despite what i said earlier, it really is worth it to check your library. while online archives have book scans, they have to comply with the copyright law, meaning that many books on the subject of your interest are going to be unavilable there
chances are, there is a blog about it. not only on tumblr, but old blogs on things like wordpress can really be a lot of fun to go through. while theyre usually not run by experts, they can be of huge help and i love them dearly. you just need to be extra careful with these and not take any for granted, especially if they dont have sources ...
not sure if thats what you wanted exactly. but thats the best i can offer at 11pm

Hello, May I request a onshot including cuddles with Johann Chu at night? Ty. <3
YESYESY I LVOE JOHANN VERRY MUCH, OUR 'ROBOT' BOYYY also HELP IM SORRY I FORHOT I HAD THIS IN MY DRAFTS
bro i'm so sorry i had this in my drafts i think for a month, i'll then write the other submission later :sob:
maybe i just wanna be yours !✦
#;oneshot, johann chu x reader
tags // just tad bit spoiler (the info abt shavee in the chat n all and only that i think, maybe also abt his dad), comfort, slight misunderstanding but it's fine in the end, understandings, johann bby muah muah, also johann might be a bit ooc so bear with me, this is kinda long [keyword: kinda]
Tumblr media
johann chu wasn't the one to be expressive of his feelings, and understand his feelings. hence why he felt bemused about [name], they certainly made a huge imprint on him.
yet shavee had also had an impact on him. but [name]'s case was slightly different. even if he had missed an opportunity to have her, it was okay now. he was healing a bit.
when they were chatting and johann had slipped this information to [name] and some other emotional turmoil, he yet puts training first once again.
nonetheless, all was well in the end. it was night and johann thought of something. [name] was doing quite well in their training, but he heard from a little birdy that they weren't quite doing well in draconic history.
maybe stress was getting to them? either way, as their senior, he felt obligated to help them out. it wasn't in a negative light, but he somehow felt like it.
as they were conversing, he then brought up their history course. [name] surprisingly did mention how they were struggling to understand a little and he offered to help them.
they asked where the both of them should go and he bluntly said at his dorm. [name] was confused at first why they wouldn't be doing it at the library.
he simply said it might be a bit troublesome for them as to referring to the girls that swooned over him, even if some girls do have self-control, he still didn't want to risk it.
and he wanted to spend more time with [name] not in training. he wanted to know more about them. miscellaneous things would suffice.
as the day passed, it was finally the time they decided to meet up that johann proposed. he asked [name] to meet him at the basketball court so he could escort them to his dorm.
when they finally came, he started to escort [name]. it was a bit awkward at first, given how the girls they passed by would look at them in envy.
[name] would try and flip them off by either going to scratch their cheek, getting something out of their eyes, or tucking their hair behind their ear using the middle finger.
but johann caught on and said that it doesn't matter and just ignore them for the best. they slightly grumbled, but begrudgingly complied as he is their senior and they didn't want to hear a lecture from a certain someone.
johann sighed, slightly amused but it went unnoticed. as soon as they entered the lionheart's club base, there susie was. she exchanged words with johann until she spotted [name].
she then asked if they were going to join, but johann answered for [name] that they were just looking around and dismissed susie. that made them confused, but thankful either way for their senior for answering for them.
he then led [name] to his dorm, and there they both discussed where they were struggling a bit. they shyly confessed that even tho they could've said that they would just research it, they were thankful for his help.
they can, but it was much more understandable if someone was there teaching it because they could get their possible unanswered questions answered.
johann nodded understanding. it is preferred that most should have a study group so there's a chance someone knows the subject they're studying and can answer simple questions.
as time passed, [name] started to understand more. they scribbled in their notebook while listening to johann. "so.. only the light king, priest- 'inazami' possessed equal power to nidhogg?"
johann nodded, confirming the statement was true, [name] scribbled again and continued, "but she also failed to rebel and renounce his position.. right?"
"yes. you are correct, i must say i am impressed by you..- not only you are quite the fast learner when we train, but also a good listener." [name] scratched their head a bit, "eh.. haha. it's just that i- wait no, you're a good guide and tutor is all.."
'and i like hearing your voice..' [name] felt a bit awkward and looked at the time, it was getting a bit late. they then start to stand up from their comfortable position.
johann was a bit confused at this sudden action, he still wanted to ask some questions. the not-too-personal ones. he couldn't think straight this time and grabbed [name]'s wrist.
"where.. are you going?"
[name]'s eyes widened a bit and looked at him.
"johann?"
his grip on [name] wavered a bit, his action seemingly getting him off-guard. he then loosened his grip and backed away. he pondered about something.
"..i don't know what this feeling is… i feel a sense of euphoria when i see you or… sometimes everything's better when you're here."
"huh?" [name] looked at him dumbfoundedly.
"i'm really glad you're here, but at the same time, i'm not because i'm scared. i'm scared i might lose you too."
"johann senpai? what are you-"
"i hope you know how much you mean to me. i wish you could see in you what i see in you."
[name]'s eyes widen at the sudden statement. they stood in their place shocked. "i… i don't understand you johann.." they ask, their brows furrowing in confusion.
"i don't either. but.."
"i'll hear you out on this. but i don't want it to be too long."
"..why?"
"…"
johann looked at [name] in anticipation, yet they stayed quiet. he asked once again, and [name] suspired.
"because… i don't want to make more assumptions and fall harder."
"why would you fall harder..?-"
"johann senpai, i've had harboured feelings for you. it feels off sometimes. i don't know if- if it's okay given your circumstance and mine."
he looked at [name] expectantly, yet stunned. he didn't expect his junior to also like him. but his brows furrowed. when [name] decided to speak once more, as he had an unanswered question.
"it's not just an infatuation i have for you, it's not just any epitome that i admire. but the way, you are you senpai. i've never loved anyone the way i love you before..''
[name] then took a deep breath before continuing.
"i'd accept your flaws in any way possible, i'd try and understand you better with how you act and maybe i understand.. but i don't. i don't understand how you feel about me. i appreciate you for you-"
"and i do too."
the sudden intervention has [name] stunned. they decided to look at johann, just to see him furrowing his eyebrows. his grasp went back to [name]'s wrist and slightly pulled them closer, but not harshly.
"i like spending time with you. it's nice. i feel calmer when i’m with you. it’s weird. i never thought i could feel like this, but you showed up. now, it’s like i don’t wanna go on knowing i might lose the feeling. and i might end up losing you."
[name]'s hands slightly quivered as his voice wavered. he felt their hands slightly shaking and he held it with the hand he grasped their wrist with.
"..are you okay [name]?.."
[name]'s breath hitches for a bit before taking a deep breath from their mouth and shaking their head, "yeah.. i'm- i'm fine johann."
"no. you aren't fine, did.. did i say something wrong perhaps..?"
johann squeezed their hand gently and rubbed circles on it, this action made [name] tense but relaxed a bit after they snapped out of their trance.
"wha- no!- no, you didn't. i just-"
johann took both of [name]'s hands and held them close to his chest, making the both of them close to each other, but not too close.
"i'm sorry if that caught you off-guard. i just couldn't-"
he was cut off as [name] hugged him and nuzzled their head close. they hummed to themselves and hugged him tighter,
"i like spending time with you too.."
"..then spend the night with me"
"of course."
-
ok bro i know that wasnt really cuddling but man idk :sob: thats all you get please accept it p;ease. im beiggin you

How do you make your infographics if I can ask, and how long does it normally take you to design, do the research, find what quotes you like, etc. I’m very interested in making my own, especially about the drag queen issue but I struggle with adhd and staying on task and get unmotivated easily.
What I use to make Infographics/Posts
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You don’t need anything fancy to make infographics! I’m familiar with Adobe InDesign and the Adobe design suite, but those tools are expensive and are hard to learn.
I use Canva to make my material. I don’t pay for their premium account, so my account is completely free! It gives you templates and design elements to work with. I really like Canva because it helps me quickly design and post material.
How long does it take?
Making posts with just a quote usually takes me 5 minutes per post, so they're pretty fast to make.
My infographic posts take the longest to make. My Intersex and Sex Binary posts took me over 30 hours to research, plan, compile, write, design, and edit. Some smaller infographics like Transmasculine Individuals and Binding took ~4 hours.
A lot of the time is spent on the research stage. The good news is I've compiled a lot of my research into this ~300-page master document! It's full of studies and facts, grouped by topic as a resource for other women. It's so big I've really only scraped the surface in terms of what I've been able to adapt so far.
Feel free to take a look for yourself if you want to make your own posts/material, or if you're just curious! If you're interested in making posts about any of the topics listed, this might help shorten your research. I've also named/linked all my sources, so you can click the hyperlinked sources or Google the name of the study and read the whole thing if it interests you.
Work Process & Motivation
I also struggle with motivation and finishing projects. The key (for me) is to organizing my digital workspace.
If I see a statistic or study that interests me, I stick it into my masterdoc. If I see a Tumblr post with an interesting idea, quote, or fact, I save the post as a draft
Tumblr media
When I have time, I go through my drafts and pick a few posts I feel like adapting.
On Canva, you can search for keywords like "Instagram Post", "Instagram Story" or "Quote" and Canva will give you suggested templates.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have a Canva document saved of a bunch of templates I want to use for quotes, for example (you may recognize some of the backgrounds/fonts from my posts):
Tumblr media
When I pick a quote I like, I copy and paste the template square into a blank page on my document where I keep all my quotes and I just edit the text and mess around with the design elements until I'm satisfied.
Tumblr media
I can then easily export my posts!
My process for infographics is similar. I search "Infographic" and save infographic templates I like, then just add in the information when I have the time and motivation.
I get demotivated sometimes, so it helps to do a lot of posts back-to-back when I'm motivated and have time. I then add the posts to my Tumblr queue, so my blog is posting daily, even on days or weeks when I don't have the time, energy, or motivation to make material.
Tumblr media
I know online activism can get really tiring and it can be easy to burn out. Stickering, flyering, reading feminist/woman-centered books to educate yourself, signing petitions and writing letters, meeting with like-minded women, and volunteering for women's shelters/causes are great ways to help women in real life that don't feel as impersonal as a Tumblr blog. If there's a topic you're passionate about, make that infographic or post, but also think about what you can do in real life to advocate for or advance the cause!
I find mailing women radical feminist stickers (which you can order for free here!) is a great way to remind myself that I'm not alone and there are other women like me. Every envelope I pack makes me feel really connected to other women. I also work for an organization that helps women in the Global South and try to read feminist books in my spare time.
TL;DR - Use Canva, spread the word, and try to help women in real life!

Would it be alright to ask your sources on the corset mentions of training waists? I was trying to fact check for myself because due diligence, but all I'm finding are a bunch of either unrelated things, very old things (not first source old, i mean like, 80s bad research old) and unrelated SEO spam on costume knock off sites. I tried to look on the normal academic searches I do, and found a lot of articles debunking tight lace and waist training "myths" but non confirming them. I'm not sure if I'm just using the wrong keywords or looking in different areas, so I figured I'd just politely ask instead. I apologize if this is inconvenient, I'll keep looking in the meanwhile. Though I do remember reading recently in a historical recreations book that the reason so many extent garments are so small or thin waisted, is because those were often the gowns/pieces that were put away as a woman aged, or were too small to pass down to be worn and were instead given as family heirlooms, hence why most museums have pieces with so little wear and tear overall, and the ones that were worn often are normally more tattered or fragmented when found. It makes sense to me in that specific example itself, but as with most research into period clothing, finding first hand accounts of the hows and whys as to what was worn and by who or how, is next to impossible. x-x
uuuuuh it mooostly comes from years of looking at extant garments and just knowing shit. idk where I could really give you some primary documents related to it, other than I remember Laura complaining about wearing a tight corset in some of the Little House on the Prairie books.
Corset People are a particular sub-set of the online fashion history scene and they can honestly sometimes be kind of annoying? Like yes it's true that there's a shitload of myths about corsets out there, that modern period costume makers make shitty and inaccurate uncomfortable corsets that torture the actresses who wear them, and that for the most part, a well-fitted and decently-made corset will actually not only be very comfortable but actually help people with chronic pain, but to insist that no woman ever complained about her corset is equally inaccurate.
They weren't universally comfortable. In the period when tight-lacing was popular (1850-1914), the purpose of tight-lacing absolutely WAS about creating a desired body shape and it's kind of ridiculous to insist that thinness and achieving a tiny waist wasn't a part of it. They might not have been restricting your breathing and cutting your liver in two, but a tight-lace corset would have restricted your movement.
Again, it's only a small subset of women who wore tight-lace corsets, and only during a certain period in corset history, and it was very much related to her class and how much she was willing to suffer for beauty. Corsets are complicated and understanding them and their history requires a lot of nuance that some people just don't have.

May I request a clotted cream cookie x an historian reader? Like they tagged along to learn about the ancients and see how their meeting goes and to learn about the cream Republic from clotted cream cookie?
Request: Yes
Type: Headcanons
Warnings: yandere Clotted Cream Cookie, obsessiveness, manipulation
Yandere Type: Obsessive/Manipulative
Note: Sorry if these seems shorter than usual. I haven't had too much motivation to write and coupled with some life things, I've been experiencing writer's block. I hope this is still enjoyable though!
Tumblr media
To tag along with Clotted Cream Cookie and Financier Cookie, you must have already gotten Clotted Cream Cookie's attention already.
He probably found out about you while preparing for his trip to meet the Anicents. He found out you were researching them and their history and decided it would be a good idea for you to tag along.
While you jumped at the chance to go along, Clotted Cream couldn't help but find himself endeared by your excitement. He couldn't help but find you adorable as you rushed around to gather things and prepare.
As the day to leave grew closer and closer, you spent more and more time with him, and Clotted Cream Cookie found himself wanting you by his side more and more. Before the want of you being at his side permantly became apparent. And who was he to deny that want? He was the Consul, after all.
So on the way to the the kingdom, on the airship, he advised you to stay close to him or Financier Cookie. He understood that you wanted to explore and record the history but "We don't know what kind of dangers there are in this kingdom. I wouldn't want to lose the Republic's greatest historian."
He feeds into your uncertainties and worries as time goes on. Even as things go smoothly and GingerBrave does his best to soothe your worries, Clotted Cream Cookie's words still ring in your head whenever you want to wander off.
You were in an completely unfamiliar place. One wrong move and you could embarass the entirety of the Republic! You decided it was best to stay by Clotted Cream Cookie and Financier Cookie's sides as the meeting continued.
Financier Cookie, while all this is happening, isn't blind to what Clotted Cream is doing. She's somewhat aware that he's manipulating you. Keyword; somewhat.
Deep down she knows it's true and that this shouldn't be happening, that the Consul of the Republic she loves so dearly shouldn't be manipulating a poor Cookie into fearing everything but him and her. But she represses this knowledge and continues with her duty of protecting both of you.
As you record the history of the Anicents around you, you swear you can sometimes feel an arm wrap around your waist or someone standing uncomfortably close. But you're always so versed in your work you brush it off.
(Clotted Cream Cookie is relieved that you never notice how close he gets. He can't help himself, you're too adorable whenever you're concentrated on your work.)
Even as the meetings slowly end, Clotted Cream Cookie gives you an offer he knows you won't refuse; being his personal historian. He needs you closer to him. He needs you, so don't say no.
Don't say no don't say no don't say no don't say no don't say no don't say no don't say no don't say no-
When you agree, the thoughts of him forcing you to take the job immediately leaves his head.
Clotted Cream Cookie hopes you can't hear his sigh of relief over your excited 'thank you's. Now you'll always be close to him.

Developing Correspondences
One of the first things new witches come across are correspondence lists. At first, they will follow correspondence lists from books, but eventually, it will be time to branch out and start developing new correspondences. These will be personal and unique to the person and may differ wildly from witch to witch. But this is a good thing! The more personal your practice is, the more successful your spells will be.
Here's a basic step by step guide to creating your first personal correspondences.
Mundane research - Mundane is the keyword here. You want to find out the science and history of what you are creating correspondences for. Hard facts. Modern uses. Ancient uses. Environment and habitat. Life cycle. Things like that. Notate what jumps out at you.
Magical uses - Does the object have an established magical use? How far back does that go? Make notes of these if they exist (and they might not - that's fine!)
A conversation with the object - Sit down and have a conversation with the item. What can you feel? What does it tell you about itself? Notate these things as well. They may be very different from the things above, and that's okay! It will be your own UPG.
With these three things, you will have a broad picture of the item and the beginnings of correspondences for it. You can now create a personal correspondence list for that item. As time goes on, you may add and subtract from the list as you work more with that particular ingredient and become more experienced with your magical practice!
