So, I just got back from testifying against my kidnapper, and I remembered during the trial that I forgot to tell you guys about the case I wanted to talk about, so here it is (Names obfuscated for obvious reasons):
Some time after school started in 1994 in a suburb in Paris, France, one of the professors at a local boarding school never showed up to work for weeks on end. There was no notice, no indication that he was ill or had quit, and the principal at the school didn't fire him or even know he was gone until staff notified him. He was the one that called the police and filed a missing persons report. So, naturally, the police begin digging into this guy that vanished and they essentially came across what I can only describe as a conspiracy goldmine. The professor, as it turns out, may have never even existed legally. All of his records were fake and shallowly fabricated, every single thing the man said he had done was a complete lie except for a few details (I will get into those later). And do you want to know the best part of this whole thing? When the police came to his registered lease of a house (which for some reason was in the middle of the local woods), they found it completely trashed. Any evidence of his existence in that house was completely ripped to shreds and destroyed. The only thing they could tell about the man was that he was a computer genius, he had a child, and that he was obviously on the run from something. Oh yeah, this man apparently had a child!
And according to personal accounts taken from the staff, it was his daughter, a sometimes-homeschooled, sometimes-not preteen that apparently he registered himself under a ton of false records.
Like, the child didn't even have a birth certificate or any names registered. The only things tied to her existence were vaccine records (which were, despite being confirmed as being legitimate, were altered significantly so that every detail about her personally was false) and personal eye-witness accounts from the professor's colleagues.
As you can tell, this practically was begging to be turned into a cold case. The police were unable to find anything that could've indicated their fates other than the house, so they came to the conclusion that the two were kidnapped by someone with a lot of resources and just left it at that. Now, I don't have to be exaggerating when I say that this case got me hooked when I first heard about it. Not because of any personal reasons, obviously, but because of how mysterious it is.
Despite working at this school for several years and being considered just a simple science professor, this man somehow has the shadiest and craziest existence out of any victims or suspects that I've had to read about in the past. Everything about the man is fabricated or at least seriously ofuscated. Its like this man just popped into existence with his daughter legally, and I've been kind of hoping to be the first person to actually make a step forward in this case for the first time in several years. Just something about it is so addicting. So many mysteries, laid one on top of the other. It's got me hooked!
I legitimately want to know how he did, how he completely fabricated his entire existence, and why?
Was he on the run? Was he under witness protection so deep not even the French Government could decipher it? Was he just simply someone in the wrong place in the wrong time?
See what I mean when I say this case is incredibly addicting?

The twist the end of episode 2 is SO GOOD. It's weighty and freaking and beyond intriguing . Jodie and Christopher Eccleston's character's relationship is interesting and I'm obsessed with his American accent. Peter is a wonderful balancer to the cast and his "wrong question" scene with Liz was brilliant and my favorite so far. And Peter's friendship with Leah! It added another layer that I think it needed in terms of the spiderweb of relationships and it was kind of refreshing to just see two people finally get along lol

I'm on the GO References Library Discord and I wanted to enter the weekly study club ✨ !!
This week's theme was to redraw a film poster/scene including Crowley and Aziraphale ! I picked True Detective because I just finished Season 1 (yes I know I'm late ahahah) ! I thought it would be funny to mix this very dark show with the fun tone of Good Omens.
This Discord's study club is so much fun I hope I'll be able to participate next weeks too ! ❤️

Hi! I vaguely recall that Alex once referenced the tv show Friends. I don’t think he outright said ‘Friends’ but quoted or paraphrased it, I think. Do you know what I’m getting at?
(I’m not thinking of the time he spoke of Seinfeld. That was a different time.) Cheers! x
Hi! Thanks for the message and I really wish I could help, but at the moment I just can't recall the interview that you referred to here :( I'll put this question to my followers and please feel free to send me a message if you guys know this interview!

who do you think each bats' favourite sibling is canonically? i haven't seen much about this outside of super fanon stuff so i'm curious
Let's start with the easiest one!
Tim - Dick
Tim's favorite sibling but also favorite person ever is unquestionably, undoubtedly Dick. This boy adores his big brother. He's full-on obsessed with him.
His thoughts on Dick are just a compilation of praises about him and his inner dialogue simply consists of a series of hero worship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Robin (1993) Issue #32
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Red Robin Issue #23
Sometimes I ponder about Dick and Tim's relationship because I feel like what Tim wants from Dick isn't just a brother, I feel like he wants him to be a parent which is part of the reason why Tim and Damian don't get along.
Because the truth is, before Damian came along, Tim was Dick's robin first. And Tim loved it.
(This post was on hold for months because I needed that exact panel where Tim says to Dick "It's obvious he wants us to be the new batman and Robin." BuT i CaNt FiNd It. I literally give up, if anyone know what panel I'm referring to people reblog it with the panel and I'll upload it with the post)
Dick was Tim's Robin and everything he did he wanted to live up to him
Tumblr media
Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War: Scorched Earth
Look at what he says about Dick:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batman: A Lonely Place of Dying
Even before Dick and Tim met again, Tim started working out just so he could be like his idol. Tim literally says to Dick "My grades are okay but I studied because I wanted to just like you."
You know what they say about idols and pedestals and never meeting your heroes? The opposite is true for Tim about Dick. After meeting Dick for the second time, his idol worship grew so much it shattered every ceiling in existence.
Tim loves him so so much. People sometimes misunderstand and think that Tim hated Dick when he fired him from Robin but it wasn't hate that Tim felt. It was jealousy. Jealousy over Dick choosing Damian over him.
Tim even solely used the Red Robin persona for the mere reason that he didn't want to dirty Dick's Robin by stigmatizing it with his less ethical actions.
Damian - Dick
Obviously. The only reason I said Tim was the easiest is because Tim's inner and outer thoughts about Dick can be complied to create volumes of fanbooks of flowing poetry about him. Damian on the other hand is more of a tsundere, but there's still only one person who he loves aside from his father and even more than.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Robin War Issue #1
If there were any doubts, I don't think this panel could be any clearer about who Damian's favorite is.
Stephanie - Cass
Tumblr media
Batgirl (2000) Issue #38
Cass - Stephanie
Tumblr media
Batgirls (2016) Issue #14
Damn.
Steph and Cass are each other's favorites
Tumblr media
Detective Comics (1937) Issue #945
Duke - noone? everyone?
Like actually I can't pick out one person Duke likes the best. You're either on his wavelength or he's snarking you off it. He's the type of guy where everyone likes him and he's chilling by himself, doing whatever he wants.
Jason - Dick
Out of the batkids who did deal with Jason during his worst phase, Dick is unilaterally his favorite. Sometimes when I think about Jason's relationship with Bruce, I'm reminded of how much Jason and Bruce are alike sometimes because Jason's view on Dick is almost identical to Bruce's view on Dick and they even have similar reactions. We all know that Bruce hero-worships Dick. Time and time again, Bruce emphasizes, stresses, and talks about how amazing Dick is and how he's so much better than him, and constantly places Dick on a pedestal. The issue comes when Dick doesn't want to do what Bruce wants him to do because he believes that Dick is an extension of himself, his better half, and he's furious when Dick doesn't follow or accept what he's doing because Dick should know what Bruce is trying to do because he's supposed to be better than him, how dare he stop him, etc.
Jason acts in similar ways to Dick. There's a whole issue where Jason gets fear gassed and one of his biggest fears is Dick. More specifically, it's about how amazing Dick is and never living up to him because in Jason's eyes, Dick is absolutely perfect. There is no one better than him because he is the peak of everything. He places Dick on the highest pedestal there is and he kind of safeguards Dick there in his heart. He used to get really angry because he believes Dick is the best but also refuses to let Dick be anything other than the best. The best way I have to explain them is Jason holding Dick prisoner as a result of his hero worship.
Once Jason is slightly calmer, his relationship dynamics with everyone became really clear, as well as what he thinks of them and it's shown how the way he treats Dick is just different.
Tumblr media
Task Force Z Issue #8
Tumblr media
Grayson Issue #12
"You don't do that to your--you don't do that to another Robin!"
He was going to say brother 🥺🥺
In this scene, it's pretty obvious that Jason loves Dick a lot but he's obviously not going to be all fuzzy feelings about it because he likes to be edgy. Jason's a little confusing in general for people to understand because they expect him to be nice and open but Jason's not nice, he's just nicer to the people he likes. Once we start understanding that, he becomes clearer.
And to Dick -
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nightwing (2016) Issue #15
-He's exceptionally nicer.
Tumblr media
DC's Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun Issue #1
Another example of why Jason loves Dick the most is because in the comics, Jason doesn't work with anyone in the family unless he has to unless it's Dick because he chooses to work with Dick by choice.
Dick - Tim or Damian
Dick adores Tim so freaking much. He loves him so, so much.
Tumblr media
Nightwing (1996) Issue #139
Catch me crying behind my sunglasses at Dick kissing Tim's head lovingly 😭
Tumblr media
Robin (1993) Issue #12
I just love these soft touch moments Dick has with Tim. It's so incredibly sweet.
He was Tim's mentor
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The New Titans (1988) Issue #65
and a really good one too.
He loves him-
Tumblr media
Detective Comics (1937) Issue #696
-so much.
(I'd add more panels but I ran out of image space :'0)
I genuinely cannot say who he loves more at all. I can't even pick. I really do think he loves them evenly because when I think about leaning one side, more evidence comes to mind for the other side like a pair of counter weights.
Damian...I don't really need to say any words because the pictures speak for themselves
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batman (2016) Issue #34
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Grayson Issue #12
aldskjdhkdjfhldfah;dh. Look at what he gave his son! A souvenir from the first time his dad met his mom because Dick knows how much Damian loves his parents <333!! There's nothing I can even say more.
Here's my previous post on Dick and Damian's relationship.

what to do with spam comments on AO3
First, let's identify the comment as spam. Some things to look for:
The comment is left by a guest user. You can tell they are a guest because the username isn't a link. In most site skins, links are indicated by text that is underlined.
The comment is trying to get you to do something - visit a webpage, sign up for a service, join a discord server.
The comment doesn't make any sense for the work that it's on.
Here's a comment I've received. The username is a keysmash and I can tell they're a guest because the name doesn't link back to an AO3 user profile page. The comment is formatted more like an email, and it asks me to join a discord server. Also, the comment references that I'm writing for Marvel and while this is true, it's specifically Agents of SHIELD and not a crossover with other Marvel franchises so from the first sentence, I was already suspicious.
Tumblr media
If you receive a spam comment like this one, all you need to do is hit the button marked Spam. This button appears in your fic comments, but you won't see it in your AO3 inbox. If you're in your inbox, you can go directly to the comment on your fic by clicking on the fic title (see below).
Tumblr media
Selecting the Spam button reports the comment as spam to AO3's spam detection system and removes the comment from your work. It also teaches that system that comments like this one are spam and should not be posted on works.
You can also simply delete the comment, if you prefer. These comments aren't anything that you need to worry about, although I advise you not to actually follow any links or visit any sites that they might direct you to.
There is no need to write in to Support or the Policy & Abuse team, either. They are aware that spam bots exist, and they do what they can to train the system to spot them.
You can avoid receiving spam guest comments by editing the Privacy settings on your works to only allow comments from registered users. That means only people who are logged into their AO3 account will be able to comment.

I made a Twitter thread about this, but I've been reading early issues of Batman lately and something I've noticed is how differently the contrast between Batman and "Bruce Wayne" is depicted
obviously, in many things today, "Bruce" (ESPECIALLY in fandom) is often depicted as a happy-go-lucky himbo in order to draw contrast with a grim and "tortured" batman
so how does this hold up when you look at older depictions? the answer: it doesn't. in fact it was almost the opposite.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
way back in the very first issues of the official Batman title, Bruce Wayne, no matter WHAT he's doing, isn't the one who laughs and smiles, Batman is.
and these are comics that were published BEFORE the comics code authority caused a dramatic shift in tone
Bruce Wayne (or least the cardboard cutout refered to as Bruce Wayne) isn't nessecarily described as grim, but he isn't a very happy person either, he's still a rich airhead, but not so much a "himbo" or even a dedicated businessman, he's depicted as a BORED, uninterested, aristocrat:
Tumblr media
this Bruce seems to spend of his time smoking a pipe at home or mingling with other upperclass individuals, that in-between we tend to see MUCH more often in modern comics doesn't seem to exist yet (in part because the batcave Is non-existent which I suspect has given him a bit more privacy as a character)
MEANWHILE Batman, who's investigates murders every other night almost seems to be having the time of his life:
Tumblr media
the early comics seem to routinely depict the burgoise as cold, snobbish & bored, in contrast to batman who seems particularly expressive and joyful, for all we know Batman may partially exist as some millionaires weird passtime, but of course Bruce Wayne (the real guy, not the facade) is written as someone who genuinely seems to care due to his own past experiences:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but , with all of that layed out, one can conclude that when ppl say Batman is the "true persona" ect. originally, it wasn't (just) because of his coping or whatever it was because when he wasn't Batman he was forced to live life as a cold, "useless" millionaire:
Tumblr media
"what if a rich a guy gave a fuck?" is still very much the base concept here, but what's surprising is how much BITE there is to it
the concept wasn't being proposed because it's like… a plausible thing to happen or attainable on a personal level, but because the rich reliably and consitently do not care
the rich ppl in this book, "Bruce Wayne" included, are not written to be envied as people. they're written to be insufferable. ppl with endless resources who are still somehow unsatisfied with life and choose to do nothing useful or direct with the amount wealth they've accumulated
but ofc it shouldn't be ALL THAT surprising, Batman debuted in Detective Comics in 1939…. ONE year after the great depression, Bob and Bill had more than a good reason to feel a bit bitter
but rolling back to the point of this analysis, whenever I say "let batman be happy" I mean "let Batman enjoy his job" despite the pain, despite the death, despite the murder, despite the hypocritical nature of it all and how problematic it may be because it's a life he also chooses, not just out of compulsion, but because it's hands on, direct & purposeful. it gives him something to do & it gives him a chance to punch a problem in the face (which may be good or bad depending on what that problem is, but still)
that kind of depiction is what set up the groundwork for nearly every deconstruction that's come since but it's so buried in time at this point that lines from characters claiming bruce "loves being batman" seem to ring completely hollow
tbh, I think the old way of depicting Batman can be ( and as been in some media) woven into the way he's depicted today, in the past Batman was an outlet for every emotion Bruce Wayne had to hide elsewhere, a symbol of empathy, fury and passion, for modern Batman, I imagine those three things still hold true, layered on top of an alter ego that allows a modern Bruce Wayne to be weird and damaged and dark.
so uh, ln conclusion, I think batman enjoying what he does to a certain extent is a crucial aspect of his character that's been lost and withered and forgotten about, let him a have a little fun, we can discuss the ramifications of all that when discussion seems necessary

the commentators saying colin “played like a man reborn” actually makes me so feral because the thing about chameleons, as they call him in reference to his playing style, is that chameleons actively blend into their surroundings to avoid detections. like it’s never anyone saying that he’s lacklustre or forgettable, but that he willingly makes himself invisible. previously, it was thought to be for the betterment of the team, but now it’s seen for what it is, which is colin hiding parts of who he actually is. hiding his identity. willful concealment. and when he comes out, immediately something is just UNLEASHED within him. this sigh of relief he feels at the core of his system translates to him playing like a fucking firecracker. it’s amazing, and it is a rebirth in a sense! he’s reborn from someone who bases so much of his identity on the act of hiding to someone who doesn’t need to anymore. he switches from prey in hiding to predator out in the open, able to charge full force through the wild of the pitch in his true form— no colour tricks, no self-preservation methods, just him.
ted lasso, you’ve been having a bit of a shaky final season, but you did this right. you did this so incredibly right.
