who do you think each bats' favourite sibling is canonically? i haven't seen much about this outside of super fanon stuff so i'm curious

Let's start with the easiest one!

Tim - Dick

Tim's favorite sibling but also favorite person ever is unquestionably, undoubtedly Dick. This boy adores his big brother. He's full-on obsessed with him.

His thoughts on Dick are just a compilation of praises about him and his inner dialogue simply consists of a series of hero worship.

Sometimes I ponder about Dick and Tim's relationship because I feel like what Tim wants from Dick isn't just a brother, I feel like he wants him to be a parent which is part of the reason why Tim and Damian don't get along.

Because the truth is, before Damian came along, Tim was Dick's robin first. And Tim loved it.

Even before Dick and Tim met again, Tim started working out just so he could be like his idol. Tim literally says to Dick "My grades are okay but I studied because I wanted to just like you."

You know what they say about idols and pedestals and never meeting your heroes? The opposite is true for Tim about Dick. After meeting Dick for the second time, his idol worship grew so much it shattered every ceiling in existence.

Tim loves him so so much. People sometimes misunderstand and think that Tim hated Dick when he fired him from Robin but it wasn't hate that Tim felt. It was jealousy. Jealousy over Dick choosing Damian over him.

Tim even solely used the Red Robin persona for the mere reason that he didn't want to dirty Dick's Robin by stigmatizing it with his less ethical actions.

Damian - Dick

Obviously. The only reason I said Tim was the easiest is because Tim's inner and outer thoughts about Dick can be complied to create volumes of fanbooks of flowing poetry about him. Damian on the other hand is more of a tsundere, but there's still only one person who he loves aside from his father and even more than.

Like actually I can't pick out one person Duke likes the best. You're either on his wavelength or he's snarking you off it. He's the type of guy where everyone likes him and he's chilling by himself, doing whatever he wants.

Jason - Dick

Out of the batkids who did deal with Jason during his worst phase, Dick is unilaterally his favorite. Sometimes when I think about Jason's relationship with Bruce, I'm reminded of how much Jason and Bruce are alike sometimes because Jason's view on Dick is almost identical to Bruce's view on Dick and they even have similar reactions. We all know that Bruce hero-worships Dick. Time and time again, Bruce emphasizes, stresses, and talks about how amazing Dick is and how he's so much better than him, and constantly places Dick on a pedestal. The issue comes when Dick doesn't want to do what Bruce wants him to do because he believes that Dick is an extension of himself, his better half, and he's furious when Dick doesn't follow or accept what he's doing because Dick should know what Bruce is trying to do because he's supposed to be better than him, how dare he stop him, etc.

Jason acts in similar ways to Dick. There's a whole issue where Jason gets fear gassed and one of his biggest fears is Dick. More specifically, it's about how amazing Dick is and never living up to him because in Jason's eyes, Dick is absolutely perfect. There is no one better than him because he is the peak of everything. He places Dick on the highest pedestal there is and he kind of safeguards Dick there in his heart. He used to get really angry because he believes Dick is the best but also refuses to let Dick be anything other than the best. The best way I have to explain them is Jason holding Dick prisoner as a result of his hero worship.

Once Jason is slightly calmer, his relationship dynamics with everyone became really clear, as well as what he thinks of them and it's shown how the way he treats Dick is just different.

In this scene, it's pretty obvious that Jason loves Dick a lot but he's obviously not going to be all fuzzy feelings about it because he likes to be edgy. Jason's a little confusing in general for people to understand because they expect him to be nice and open but Jason's not nice, he's just nicer to the people he likes. Once we start understanding that, he becomes clearer.

Another example of why Jason loves Dick the most is because in the comics, Jason doesn't work with anyone in the family unless he has to unless it's Dick because he chooses to work with Dick by choice.

I genuinely cannot say who he loves more at all. I can't even pick. I really do think he loves them evenly because when I think about leaning one side, more evidence comes to mind for the other side like a pair of counter weights.

Ok so here are some Dick and Dami hcs

Dick took Damian to his first pride parade. Dami pretended he didn’t want to go but Dick knew he wanted to and enjoyed himself there.

They do these times where they both just sit in the same place and just exist. They don’t talk, Damian will do homework or would be drawing while Dick was doing some case work or WE thing or just something.

Damian realised how much Dick genuinely likes his drawings and randomly gives some to him. Like ever few weeks a painting or a sketch will show up on Dicks bed. Usually it’s someone Dick loves a lot. His parents, siblings, the titans, etc.

Dick has kept ever single one of them.

Some are on the fridge, some framed, and some in a carefully preserved and loved album.

Dick is one of the only people Damian trusts with his pets. Other is Alfred and eventually Jon gets added to the list.

Dick comes to all of Damian’s school events even small ones.

He especially never misses art showings.

Dick was the one Damian went to when he realised he likes boys as well.

Dick was the only person Damian was not scared of telling.

Damian was the first of the bats ( besides Alfred and Bruce but they knew earlier) to know about the origins of the name Robin.

He was even more proud of being Robin and swore that he’d make not only Dick but all the Graysons proud.

Dick taught Damian Romani. ( I’m sorry I can’t spell)

Damian taught Dick Arabic in return.

Dick was the first person Damian knew loved him.

Dick is the only person that Damian trusts not to get tired of him.

Dick introduced Damian to Zitka.

Dick is protective but never controlling of Damian.

Since Dick lost the original poster he had of the Flying Graysons Damian painted him an exact copy.

After Robin Damian took the name Flamebird and became Nightwings partner.

While Bruce was dead Dick adopted Damian.

It still continued after Bruce came back.

Bruce may be Damian’s father but Dick is his baba.

“Only Human” Chapter Two: “Part Two: Cohabitation” Now Uploaded

Quietly closing the door behind himself, Dick looked around, seeing a few doors, knowing where two of them led. One to the bathroom, and the other to Damian and Krypto’s room. A third was a linen closet…but that left the two in the back left to the imagination. He hadn’t even been in them the first time he and Rachel had come through to investigate Luthor’s death.

He did stop to check on Damian and Krypto, the room illuminated by the softly lit lamp, allowing the dog to perk up his head and see as Dick entered the room. Dick pet him on the way by, leaning down to kiss his head with a quiet, “Hi, boy” before turning his attention to the crib. Damian was sleeping peacefully, his little face twitching as Dick gently caressed his little cheek, smiling as Damian cooed quietly, staying asleep.

After kissing the baby’s forehead, and giving Krypto one more pat, he carefully and quietly closed the door and continued to look for Connor.

The one door was dark, Dick reaching for the doorknob and testing it, being met with resistance, indicating that it was locked. He could pick the lock, but he had decided against it. He knocked experimentally and called for Conner, but received no answer. That left the last door at the very end of the hall, the one with the ominous green light coming out from under it.

Dick raised a brow as he made his way over to it, raising a hand to knock but he didn’t get a chance as it slid open, Conner standing behind it, looking equally as surprised as Dick.

“Oh, I wasn’t expecting you to be awake, Richard.” Conner greeted, hands staying folded behind his back, “Up to check on the baby?”

“Uh…no. I came to check on you.” Dick admitted, blinking to adjust to the bright light blinding him, curiosity making him look over Conner’s shoulder, but Conner obstructed his field of vision, leaning against the doorframe, and thus in Dick’s way, “…everything okay?”

“Everything’s fine.” Conner replied curtly, “Just working on something. Couldn’t sleep.”

nightwing being hurt in the field, and over comms he can’t get out what was wrong, nearly in shock, and jason puts on his best batman™️ voice and says “robin, report.”

and it snaps dick out of it enough to say concussion, possible broken ribs, and a gash in his side.

no one talks about it, and then a year later, damian does the same thing to tim

I think it’d be funny if Dick and Jason, due to wearing bright yellow capes on the job for years, are capable of stealth to a frankly unhinged degree. They barely have to try anymore it’s so second nature. Dick can just completely disappear while in the loudest neon clothes imaginable. Jason is constantly startling people who don’t understand how they missed a guy the size of a fridge standing right there. Bruce is extremely grateful for his unbreakable poker face because they have both startled him by accident and would never ever let him live it down if they knew.

the funniest part of any Robin meeting the JL is that every Robin is so distinctly different from the previous one in terms of personality and vibes that the league literally gets backlash. and like, I don't blame them. not to mention that they are non-meta children that dress as a traffic light and fight crime alongside batman in gotham on a nightly basis. i'd also be a bit concerned. Batman, literally The Night of Gotham personified in the League's eyes, coming into a JL meeting: This is Robin, my crime-fighting partner. 11-year-old Dick Grayson, dressed in the brightest primary colours possible, vaguely hidden murder behind those eyes, never stops moving even for a moment: Hi! Superman: That's a child. That's-- Bats that is a child. You let a child--? Batman, deadpan: You try to stop him. Would you rather he try and murder a grown man with a wire?

Batman: This is Robin. 12-year-old Jason Todd, with the biggest grin on his face, about 3 books in his hand, stars in his eyes and a distinct street-kid drawl: Hey!!! Green Lantern: That's ... that's a different child. What?? Jason: I stole his tires :) Batman: Tried to. Jason, stage whispering to the League: basically did. Green Lantern: that is a different kid, right?? I'm not seeing shit??

Batman: This is Robin. 14-year-old Tim Drake, bo staff clutched in his hand, a wary and tired expression on his face, more on the quiet side, the literal walking definition of don't judge a book by it's cover: hello Flash: Where do you even find these-- Tim: I found myself.

Batman: This is Robin. 17-year-old Stephanie Brown, literally blonde, with a shit-eating grin, eyes full of nothing but mischief and the most explosive personality you've ever seen: hiya!! Superman: I give up. Stephanie: I know, I have that amazing effect on people.
