Many are surprised that there will be a book 7.5, and I would like to share why I think twst decided to do so:

If you’re on the jp side, you know how book 7 ended, and you know that many were disappointed with how sudden it was, which makes me think that they are adding a “.5” to this to flesh out more of book 7’s story.

We may get the aftermath of the ending, what’s to come for book 8, and more Diasomnia scenes since many were missing that.

Even though the next main story update is still a part of book 7, that doesn’t mean TWST is going to stay stuck there forever. I feel that this was a decision they made since many were disappointed with the ending, and some went as far as to claim that Yana hates Malleus and wants him to suffer because he didn’t get enough screen time/story explanation.

Hopefully book 7.5 gives us more content that occurred after book 7’s ending, and can lead us into book 8/whatever future story we have in store

Listen, I love Lilia, but PEEPAW HAS TO GO!!! He’s lived long enough!!! Not right away or anything, but just thematically so as to not go against the themes of book seven, I really hope that him being magically resurrected didn’t restock his life force completely or anything. Because the whole reason book seven even happened was because Malleus couldn’t come to terms with the inevitability of Lilia’s death. And by extension of course, the deaths of everyone else he is close to. Malleus has an extremely long life ahead of him, and because of the people he is near, prior to this book he had not yet had to process death. But now he has, and I totally understand not killing off Lilia while the game is still running, he has to stay in the gatchas and such, and I certainly don’t want him gone, he’s one of my favorites. But, at the same time, Malleus has to understand that death is inevitable. Even Lilia can’t cheat it forever. So, to amend how vague the whole Lilia’s magic life force is restored thing is, here is my personal headcanon. Lilia’s magic will last him until he graduates from NRC. That way, he can finish out his schooling with his friends and family. After that, his magic will begin to weaken once again, and there won’t be any refilling it this time. I’ll headcanon that once a fae has lost their magic, they have the time of one ordinary human lifespan left in them. Therefore, Lilia will live roughly the same amount of time as Silver and so the two of them can die around the same time and won’t have to live without each other. Sebek being half fae probably has about half the life span of a fae in him I would guess, but I’d say he still ages, not as fast as a human, but he won’t be looking like a teenager by the time he dies. And then Malleus of course will be left to mourn them as is inevitable, but hopefully by that point he’ll have learned some healthier coping mechanisms than putting an entire school to sleep and he’ll learn to connect to others and make new friends and family, both human and fae. He’ll miss them everyday, but he’ll be able to manage on his own. I know it’s sad, but if book seven wants to have themes about coming to terms with existential dread, then it’s going to have to stick with them!!! Rip, Peepaw, in the future, you will be missed. Not your cooking though.

Okay so this is less of a theory and more of an idea. A really weird idea… leave while you still can. We all know how Yuu’s magicless. I got this idea from someone saying how Yuu could be absorbing magic and blot. So I propose an idea… a weird one but hey. So what if blot has a consciousness. Spilt into seven different things. Seven different overblots. So what if Yuu absorbs the overblots into themselves. Yuu could act as an incubator. Magic acts like heat. And the overblot is the eggs. Yuu could get pretty hungry. Thinking about Skully and his obsession with Jack.

Jack is his idol.

You know what else Jack has? A Sally.

Someone that Skully is missing.

And who else can be Skully’s Sally than Yuu?

Yuu/MC, who unlike the others, thought he was a gentleman and didn’t freak out like they did.

So it would make sense when things go downward, Yuu might be kidnapped or used by Skully. Especially if he tries to take over Jack’s position.

Maleanor is a dragon fae, so she laid an egg like a lizard would.

This established that non-humans have alternate ways of having children, not just the human way of “carry a baby in you for ~9 months to conception”.

So I looked up “how many eggs does a moray eel lay” and…

10,000 EGgS????????? 😭 And it’s not as though there were breaks in between launching them out, it was 10k CONSECUTIVE eggs (fish fire them out rapidly)????

Although if this is true then it begs the question of “where are her other 9998 children?” Realistically speaking, only a fraction of those thousands of eggs actually hatch and become mature eels. The currents might sweep the morays away as larvae and many perish due to other factors like disease or the harsh conditions of the sea or predation. That probably plays a part in it…?

Unless… that “Jade and Floyd ate their other would-be siblings” theory is real and true 💀 This might explain why their parents constantly worry for them (their two “surviving” children) as well as Jade and Floyd’s strange declaration that they “chose” each other. There was also that strange incident on Halloween where it’s implied a ghost that resembled the twins was spotted on campus. I guess growing boys need their nutrients/j Survival of the fittest…???

I love how Meleanor's dragon form can serve as little hints about how Malleus grew up as a dragon🥹💚🐉🦎

Comparing the frills on their cheeks... it seems like their frills grows with age and gets lighter and more connected to their eyes, it seems to get more purple skin/highlights as well.

In contrast to Meleanor's adult dragon form with hard scales, Little Malleus seem to have softer skin/scales, so i think their hard scales develop over time too. Also their snout gets more patterned too.

The spikes on their backs seems to separate as they get larger. Looking at Little Malleus, he has spikes that are close to each other yet on Meleanor's spikes, they're kind of sectioned in her head, torso, and her tail.

Their horns grows darker as it gets taller. Its noticeable on the horns of their head and on the wings.

Their horns also get more ridges over their development! Since Baby Malleus has smooth horns but now in Malleus' grown up form and Meleanor's, its more textured.

I think their horns are purple at the start then starts to get dark green??? Both Meleanor and Malleus' horns in card art always have green highlights after all.

I wonder if they're more green-colored in their human form bcs it symbolizes their empathy and how they're more humane and how connected to nature they are, but when they're in their dragon form, that green-color is reserved only in their internal organs (eyes and mouth), so "they shut their kindness off".

As a result, their form is mostly dark purple on their dragon form, the color of (evil?) void magic. So, its like when theyre in their dragon form, they're encasing their empathy inside to showcase how cruel/sinister they actually are, it could also convey that in their dragon form, they're not channelling their "fae magic" but their controlled power over "darkness/evil/hell"

Malleus after all said, he's the ruler of those who follow the darkness, Meleanor is the evil princess, and Maleficent has all the powers of hell.

Also I realized Meleanor (based on the Battle pic), might be as big as a entire castle and that's just her at ~300 years old... She looks like she could wrap her own castle with just her dragon form lol.. So I'm really curious at how massive Malleus dragon form is... Maybe its Ramshackle size for now since he's just 178 years old so might not be a dragon at a size of an entire castle yet-

diagnosing the twst boys aka putting my psych degree to good use. wrote these on discord mobile at like midnight last night so forgive any weirdness.

Riddle: C-PTSD (his mother was/is very clearly abusive and extremely controlling. he has been experiencing trauma his whole life.), possibly on the spectrum as well

Trey: probably neurotypical and mentally well. the teeth thing is pretty weird though.

Cater: Major Depressive Disorder, but he masks pretty well.

Ace: honestly? Probably neurotypical and not mentally ill but if i were to diagnose him, perhaps ADHD Inattentive Type??

Deuce: Before i read his dorm vignette i may have said he has a learning disorder like dyscalculia or dyslexia, but he clearly shows that he doesn't struggle with academics due to disordered thinking so much as it's due to lacking the fundamentals. He picks up math pretty well just from using riddle's textbook. He may have had conduct disorder in his youth, but that also could have been him acting out for other reasons and i honestly think it's more likely the latter. Maybe has some form of ADHD but I'm not certain.

Leona: very clear case of Major Depressive Disorder.

Ruggie: C-PTSD (extreme poverty is, in fact, traumatizing)

Jack: bro is carrying the mental wellness of savanaclaw on his well-built shoulders

Azul: Body Dysmorphic Disorder and EDNOS (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified). He has some serious body image issues to the point that i would definitely classify them as disordered, and he exhibits restrictive eating habits that also fall within the bounds of disordered eating. I wouldn't say he's anorexic or bulimic, so EDNOS is probably the best diagnosis.

Jade: okay. So. If Jade were over 18, i would say he might have a cluster b personality disorder (cluster b includes antisocial personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, and histrionic personality disorder. Yknow. The most stigmatized ones.), but you CANNOT diagnose anyone under the age of 18 with a personality disorder... and also i don't think he quite meets the criteria? Maybe on the spectrum. He's a freak but idk if he's diagnosable.

Floyd: ADHD, either combined or inattentive type. people like to throw around the word "bipolar" with floyd but they have a fundamental misunderstanding of bipolar disorder. BD mood swings are not even close to the frequency of floyd's. They can last for weeks or even months and are far more extreme highs and lows. He matches ADHD symptoms far better (constantly seeking stimulation, emotional dysregulation, trouble maintaining focus, etc.).

Kalim: ADHD combined type and C-PTSD. Listen. It is not fucking normal to constantly be in fear for your life and it will leave a person traumatized. Also he matches the classical ADHD symptoms.

Jamil: probably also has C-PTSD. Wouldn't be surprised if he develops some kind of personality disorder either due to trauma.

Vil: okay like... honestly? I think he's okay. He has some inferiority complex going with neige but 1. That's not a diagnosis and 2. It's not particularly disordered aside from the SDC incident.

Rook: he's a freak. But idk if his freak is diagnosable.

Epel: "a bit of a dick sometimes" is not a diagnosis

Idia: Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, MDD, autism, and PTSD. please god get this guy some antidepressants.

Ortho: he is a robot. he has a soul now but he seems like a very neurotypical and not mentally ill robot. Idk maybe autism??

Malleus: this guy is so full of autism it's unreal

Lilia: PTSD. Not even a question.

Silver: Narcolepsy, possibly with cataplexy, although I don't know if his sleeping spells constitute true cataplexy. Excessive daytime sleepiness is, however, a classical symptom of narcolepsy. Also probably on the spectrum. Flat affect king.

Sebek: Autistic ADHD legend. specifically ADHD hyperactive type.

Twst Yuu Theory: Magic as Desire

We got a lot of information from the chapter 12 update so I feel like we can finally have a grasp on Yuu and their future role in the story. Honestly this is practically a crack theory but I feel like there is something there. So throughout the story we have had glimpses of Yuu's insecurities, especially in Book 6 when we lost Grim and couldn't help Ace or Deuce in battle. Its been established that Yuu sees themself as useless and powerless and feels frustration at the fact that they cannot do anything but be protected in battle.

This comes up again in this update but I think its on purpose that Yuu's frustration at being useless mirrors Ace's and the other freshman before they unlock their unique magic. It feels like Twst is creating these parallels on purpose to lay the groundwork for Yuu to have an important role as a 'trump card' in the future (book 8 maybe) just like Deuce was in Book 5 and Ace in this update.

I'm hesitate to say something wild like Yuu will develop a unique magic, however I do think that Yuu will have a role that only they can fulfill possibly because they don't have magic.

Or maybe they will temporarily gain the ability to use magic because as established in this chapter update magic in its ancient form was miracles born out of people's deep desires such as wishing to fly or heal. Following that logic then maybe Yuu will be able to harness the oldest and original form of magic simply through their deep desires.

Also in the Chapter 12 update Leona offhandedly mentions that the dark mirror's criteria for choosing mages is vague but without a doubt everyone chosen to go to NRC has what it takes to make their mark on history. All these lore drops makes me sure that something will be happening sooner or later.

Honestly I hope in Book 8 (if that really does end up existing someplace that isn't my hopes and dreams) we explore Ramshackle's history because it seems special that the dorm has strong ties to other worlds. Considering that they straight up have a mirror that connects to other worlds where we see Mickey and whenever we get snippits of the old disney movies it also is through that mirror it feels important. Maybe we will learn about Skully and how he possibly was a Ramshackle student in his time at NRC.
