I’ve been writing really (unnecessarily) long chapters in the fic I’ve been working on, and sometimes I start to feel a little bad about it. But whenever I start thinking I’m being too long-winded, drawn-out, or redundant, I think about a conversation with my roommate’s bf. He, who is the world’s biggest One Piece fan said to me, “The first thousand episodes are like the prequel. Then the real plot starts!”

Okay, as long as I don’t do whatever the fanfic equivalent of that is, I think I’m okay. If you ever think you’re writing too self-indulgently, or making a story too long, just think to yourself, “At least I’m not writing One Piece.”

Or, if you are writing One Piece, know that there are thousands of my roommate’s boyfriends out there who will love it anyway.

i was rereading different parts of the royal au and i got to neil calling andrew "my star" and my mind immediately added north to it and i read it as "my north star" and then i remembered that that's the star people always use to find home. cause andrew is neil's home.
