Do you ship any of the turtles with anyone? or do you ship anything in rise at all?

(This ended up being a lot longer an answer than I intended hoo boy sorry about that)

Hmmm, I’m not too big a shipper tbh! Especially since I really enjoy canon interactions backing my ships, so it’s hard for me to actively like any that don’t really have that going for them. There’s plenty that I see around that I think are cute, but that’s usually the extent of my thought process for them.

For ships I more actively have, I guess I like AprilxSunita! They’re very very cute and I think they have some huge meet cute energy in their first episode together, and their chemistry is genuinely adorable (plus them being featured means more April screentime which is ALWAYS a good thing.)

I also think AprilxCasey (and when I say Casey I mean our OG girl) is really good, as I’m a sucker for enemies to lovers, and I think they have a lot in common and just bounce off each other very well (not to mention this ship in other iterations of TMNT has a loooooot going for it.)

Keeping the chain going, I think RaphxCasey (again, OG Casey) is also one with a tonnnnn of potential. They have a lot of common characteristics, and considering Raph’s whole thing with Franken-Foot, I really think there’s a lot of room there for a relationship to develop. Plus, like AprilxCasey, Raph and Casey tend to have a close relationship throughout the iterations of TMNT and it would be great to see that more with these two, even if not romantically.

Actually going back to enemies to lovers, I unironically think there’s a ton going for DonniexKendra. I know a lot of people hate this ship, but I don’t and I actually think it could very easily work whether in a love-hate way or a slow burn way. There’s a lot to like here and honestly they’re good together! Kendra is legit Donnie’s type too haha (cute, but mean.)

Lastly, SplinterxDraxum is good…when done right. I really like when people take it and don’t undermine the very real trauma that Splinter has gone through. As I’ve stated a lot, I love me some enemies to lovers, so I can see the potential here. Plus lbr Draxum was down BAD for Lou Jitsu when he first saw him haha.

I think that’s the extent to what I actively like? Everything else usually falls into “aw cute” or “ehhh not for me thanks”. And before you ask YES leosagi is cute and I’ll read fics with it if the premise is appealing, but I’m afraid I need some canon interactions to establish base character dynamics before I actively ship it alas.😔 Super cute though, no hate to it or any of the other CanonxCharacter-they’ve-never-met ships, I genuinely think people should just have fun! And for what it’s worth I really do wish we got a Usagi and Leo interaction in Rise like we have in other iterations.:(

So yeah. Overall, I have a few ships I enjoy, but I fall much more in the “prefer to keep everyone to themselves and make the focus family and friendship” category.

🔸 Terminal Lucidity by @romaine2424 (Drarry, HD Career Fair, rated G, 3K) This bittersweet fic has Harry putting his abilities as Master of Death to good use by comforting those close to death themselves. We see him at work here, adeptly easing the way for someone dear to him with compassion and care. I found this story incredibly moving and a beautiful portrait of family ties in the face of an impending loss. Featuring older, established Drarry and the Black-Malfoy family.

🔹 Our Objective Remains Unchanged by @citrusses (Drarry, rated E, 46K) Gorgeously and vividly written, this university rowing AU drew me in right from the get-go, despite the fact that Muggle AUs are not my typical cuppa. The enemies-to-lovers tension is perfectly paced as Harry and Draco fight for the same spot on the Oxford team. Citrusses did a fantastic job translating their backgrounds and personalities (as well as those of other familiar characters from the books) into this world. Class divisions and the pressure of a highly-public sporting event stand in very effectively for Harry’s canon experiences. All in all, the story has the poignancy and drama of a lush coming of age film, and I can’t recommend it highly enough!

🔸 The Pile by @b-vul (Drarry, not rated, about 1.5K) This hilarious ficlet was born out of littlewinnow’s tumblr post about Veela!Harry performing an intricate mating dance to impress Draco. Delightfully, it’s from Harry’s POV as he blindly “trusts his instincts” to guide him into increasingly bizarre actions. And the evolution of Draco’s reaction is pure comedy gold. I’ve come back to reread this one a couple of times, and it never fails to have me in stitches. (The tumblr thread also contains adorable art by regretfulcorrine!)

🔹 Shine on, You Crazy Diamond by @lagerloutfic (Drarry, HD Mpreg Fest, rated E, 42K) This is one of those fics that you can’t stop reading once you start (something I confirmed this morning when I went to skim through it for this rec and wound up spending a few happy hours devouring the entire thing again). It’s laugh-out-loud funny and deliciously smutty, with a full cast of delightful side characters and just the right amount of feelings. The story begins with the discovery of Draco’s surprise pregnancy, then switches to a long flashback of Harry’s gay awakening and his fast sexual/slow emotional burn relationship with Draco. The entire fic has a joyful feel—banter-filled pub nights, chaotic family dinners, audacious curse breaking—culminating in the baby’s arrival, which left me in happy tears and wishing for another 40K of this fabulous story. Featuring confident Harry, supportive friends & family, hot Charlie, and some shamelessly kinky Unspeakables.

🔸 Silhouettes by @sweet-s0rr0w (Draco/Ron/Harry, Dronarry Fest, rated E, 16K) Draco/Ron/Harry is not a ship I’d ventured into before I read this fic, but I’m so glad I did! Sweet’s writing always hits the right spot in my brain, and her alternating POVs and spot-on characterizations of all three boys are delightful. I especially loved Ron’s sexy self-assurance here. The unique magical theory around sentient houses is fascinating and ultimately poignant, once Draco gets to the root cause of the Burrow’s behavior. Sweet-sorrow surely lived up to her username with this one, weaving grief with humor and a heartwarming resolution.

🔹 Harry Potter Gets a Job (A 106-Page Comic) by dustmouth (Drarry, HD Career Fair, rated M) Dustmouth’s comics never miss, I swear! In this one, we find Harry overcoming his distrust of Draco with the help of the Weasleys, especially Ron (who is definitely up to something himself). All of my favorite Dustmouth elements are here: the expressive characters, Draco’s wild wardrobe choices, and punchy dialogue galore. Also featuring drunken shenanigans at the Burrow, adorable Teddy, and some first-class Slytherin-ing by Draco to win his man (and find Harry that job). What a treat!

🔸 the earth from a distance by spqr (Drarry, rated E, 15K) A whirlwind time-travel fic with breezy humor, bedsharing, and spqr’s unmatched smut with feelings… What more could you ask for in a fic? Oh, yeah: fantastic worldbuilding for Hogwarts in 1599, brilliantly clever Draco, and a dash of enemies to lovers. I can never get enough of this author!

🔹 A Year In The Life by @ladderofyears (Drarry, HD Career Fair, rated M, 19K) I swear, the author conjured a little bit of magic to write this story. It’s told entirely with 50-word microfics, one journal entry for each day of 2006 (an impressive feat, by itself!), and yet it reads just as smoothly as any traditional fic. Draco’s voice is perfect here, full of wit and subtle emotion, as his and Harry’s developing romance takes a sharp turn with an unexpected pregnancy.  Draco’s anticipation, worry, and joy are mixed with deftly-chosen details of his daily life, all captured with Emma’s trademark tenderness and warmth. This fic is a perfect comfort read for family feels and gentle romance.

🔸 try to fix you by @maesterchill (Harry/Ron/Hermione, HP Snooze Fest, rated M, 2K) A beautifully and tenderly written hurt/comfort fic set in the aftermath of the Battle of Hogwarts. Ron is the glue that holds the trio together here, caring for Harry and Hermione with gentle devotion. There’s no dialogue needed to tell this story, just Ron’s perceptive POV that captures the grief and love that compel him. I have a soft spot for this triad forming immediately after the war, as a way of holding onto each other and holding themselves together. Maester’s fic makes their transition from friends to lovers feel like the first step towards healing.

🔹 The Scent of Soft Rains by @dodgerkedavra (Drarry, HD Career Fair, rated E, 20K) When Harry is left housebound and isolated by a traumatic injury, magical prosthetist Draco gets called into help. But Harry’s struggles go far beyond the physical ones. This recovery fic combines magical and non-magical therapeutic treatments in a way I can’t remember reading before. The hurt/comfort is just as it should be—both heart-wrenching and soothing—but there are enough surprising revelations to keep the story from feeling predictable. Draco is wonderfully unflinching and patient, and the ending left me crying happy tears. With lovely, restrained prose and vivid magical imagery, this one’s an absolute stunner.

🔸 Connecting Lines, Connecting Crimes by @sleepstxtic (Drarry, H/D Career Fair, rated M, 15K) With its intriguing careers, fascinating magical theory, and well-researched worldbuilding, this story captured my attention immediately, and the mystery at the heart of it kept me engrossed. This was one of the more thought-provoking fics I’ve had the pleasure of reading, exploring the intersection of magic, the environment, and colonialism. Harry’s first-person POV is lovely, and it feels like we’re learning to love India and the people he meets along with him. The getting-back-together romance is gentle but satisfying, propelled by pent-up yearning that’s palpable. There’s so much to enjoy here, all in only 15K words!

🔹 Waking Up Slow by @sweet-s0rr0w and @ihopeyoubothstaysafefromharm (Drarry, H/D Wireless Fest, rated E, 22K) The first word that comes to mind while reading this fic is charming. First there’s the novel setting: a Christmas shop in the tourist destination of Cheddar Gorge, in the middle of a July heatwave. Next, there’s the shop itself, so imaginatively described and full to the brim with clever Muggle and magical details. Then there are the delightful OCs, Draco’s seemingly unhinged enthusiasm for all things Christmas (including ridiculous jumpers), and Harry’s complete disregard for professional behavior. But underneath the playful banter and humor, there’s also a layer of poignancy to tug at the heartstrings, especially when we find out the backstories behind Harry’s and Draco’s unlikely careers. And to top it all off, like the glowing star on the tree, are Joy’s exuberant, colorful illustrations. This is a Christmas-y fic I’d reread any time of the year.

Summary: After setting the rest free, Lo'ak and Neteyam head back into the ship to get Spyder. As Neteyam and soldiers exchange gunfire, Spyder jumps off the ship with Lo'ak following shortly behind. "Give me that," Neteyam shouts, taking the gun from Lo'ak and shooting down the soldiers that were following the trio. After directing Lo'ak to jump off the boat, Neteyam peaks over the wall and aims at the two soldiers across the deck. Suddenly, he hears a faint voice above him and ignores it, finally pulling the trigger and spraying bullets to take down the remaining avatars. Before he could press the trigger once more, he's tackled off the ship and spots a small frame holding onto him as the two fall into the water. In high alert, he holds his breath and traps the small frame. He observes the human girl with long brown hair and hazel eyes in his embrace. All he could think after his near death experience was one word- beautiful. Her cheeks were adorably puffed as she held her breath, her cheeks rosy from the cold waters surrounding them. Her odd human clothes were drenched and sticking to her skin, and he could see the outline of her breasts through her white shirt that left little to the imagination. However, before he could say anything, he notices a shade of scarlet surrounding them. He scans her from head to toe, and notices a gash above her right shoulder. The bullet had grazed her. 

"That was insane cuz!" Lo'ak exclaims, him and Spyder exchanging wide smiles and sensing Neteyam's presence behind them. He boards his ilu and turns around to face the boat. "Come on bro-" he starts but stops mid-sentence. "Who's that?" he asks, spotting the human girl next to his brother. He glances at her from up-to-down, and when he noticed that she didn't have uniform on or a gun, he was even more confused. He glances at Spyder who just shrugs and says, "I don't know bro." 

Neteyam, acting quickly, picks the girl up and helps her up onto his ilu. "She's shot," the eldest brother asserts. He makes the bond and races to the rock where he sees his father. "Dad we have to help her," Neteyam asserts as he looks at the graze and balances the both of them on his ilu. Jake warily looks at his son before noticing the firm look in his eyes. Without questions, Jake picks up the girl by her waist and lays her down. "Watch her head," Spyder states as he observes her being pulled up onto a flatter surface.

Jake observes the wound, seeing that it was only a graze and she would be fine. He glances at his eldest son who placed a hand under her head and whispered words of comfort. "She's gonna be okay. It's just a graze, but she's losing blood. I'm gonna rip a part of your shirt to cover the wound," he informs her.

She nods, before wincing in pain at the movement. Jake quickly rips off the bottom of her shirt, quickly wrapping it around the wound tightly and apologizing when he notices her flinch.

"Sorry. I have wrap it tight so that you don't lose blood," he apologizes and starts to create a knot that wrapped over the center of the wound. Neteyam, sitting down next to his father, looks at her worriedly. He rests a hand on her cheek in comfort when she groans at the pain.

"It's gonna be okay," he whispers, his mind clouded with guilt and sorrow. He knew that if she didn't push him off the ship, the bullet would have done more than just graze him. He noticed the soldier who had pointed it to him, but in a slight second of panic and unsureness, he continued to shoot instead of withdrawing. Even though he had no idea who she was, he was indebted to her and believed that Ewya had made it so that their paths would cross. 

As Jake finishes wrapping the wound, he informs the girl that it's done and she'll be fine. Relieved yet tired at his words, she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. 

Tuk, Tsireya, and Kiri hopped onto the rock off of their ilus, Kiri helping Tuk off and observing the stranger that her brother was staring at. 

"Quaritch left. He called his ikran after we took out his soldiers and disappeared," Kiri revealed. 

"We is a stretch," Tsireya laughed. "Kiri singlehandedly took them all out."

"She has super powers now," Tuk joins in, looking at her older sister in awe. Jake looks at his eldest daughter in confusion and opens her mouth to, but is interrupted when Neytiri flies down on her ikran and joins her family.

Looking around, she embraces her children one by one and scans them for injuries. “Thank Ewya for keeping my children safe,” she says in relief. Suddenly, Neytiri spots the unconscious girl and her eldest son who is holding her cheek in deep thought. Neteyam glances at his mother and notices her eyes glazing over in rage and instantly intervenes. “Mom she’s-” he starts.

"Why is that demon here," she cuts him off. She hisses and Jake stands up and embraces his wife.

“I don’t know who she is, but I think she helped our children. Let’s head back and we’ll talk about this when we’re all safe and back home” Jake reasons.

Neytiri looks at him with doubt before sighing and dropping her tense shoulders. She looks at the way Neteyam softly grazed her cheek with his fingers, and the soft look in his eyes. She felt a sense of déjà vu and looked back at her mate, nodding her head. 

Jake nods at Neteyam to help the girl onto his ilu. The group head back to the Metkayina clan in the reefs, and Neteyam repeatedly glances at the unconscious girl who he had strapped in front of him onto his ilu. 

“Bro. Who is she?” Lo’ak asks as him, Spyder, and Neteyam walk on the shore. It had been a day since the battle, and everyone had been too overwhelmed and tired to acknowledge the obvious elephant in the room after facing multiple life or death scenarios.

Jake and Neytiri had witnessed their children being held at gunpoint by Quaritch more times than they can count, and they were just relieved that their family had made it out safely. Neteyam had explained to his father what had happened, stating that she saved his life.  

The human girl that their son had insisted they helped was not in the clear, but she did not seem to be a direct threat. Jake assessed her form, concluding that she could not have been older than his children and her lack of uniform, avatar, and weapons made her visibly harmless.

She had been resting ever since they had returned to the reef and could not bring herself to question where she was and where she would go.

She was usually curious and loud, fascinated by Pandora and had only ever seen the forest Navis. Her curiosity and outspokenness meant that she would ask those questions eventually, but now she just wanted to rest.

Neteyam checked up on her frequently, hoping that she would be feeling better and speak to him. However, every time he entered her tent, she would turn over and pretend to be asleep. 

Now, he was walking with his little brother and Spyder on the beach and reflecting on the events of the previous day. “I don’t know, but she saved my life,” Neteyam replies, sitting down on the sand and glancing at his little brother who sits and looks at him in confusion.

“One of Quaritch’s soldiers had a direct shot at me. I should’ve withdrew instead of firing but I hesitated and suddenly, I’m tackled and falling into the sea.”

Lo’ak nods and stares off into the ocean in thought, glancing back at his brother and grateful that he was here and alive. The reality that he could’ve lost his Neteyam struck him and he realized that although he wanted to get Spyder back, it was not worth risking his family. 

Trying to lighten the mood, Lo’ak suddenly laughs causing Neteyam and Spyder to turn their heads to him. 

“She’s hot” Lo’ak smirks. Neteyam thumps the back of his head muttering a quick “idiot” before standing back up. Internally, he agreed but would never admit it to his baby brother. 

“Hey,” a small voice says from behind them, and Neteyam quickly whips around and spots the girl who had been hibernating for the past twenty-four hours. He notices the gauze on her shoulder that Norm and Max had placed when they flew in, and her new clothes which he guessed they had also given her. 

“Hey,” Neteyam replies, stepping forward and glancing down at her tiny frame. “Are you feeling okay? Do you need anything” he rushes, glancing over her wound once more and checking for injuries. He finally holds her sides and gazes down at her. Lo’ak gave a knowing look to Spyder who quietly laughed. 

“I’m okay,” she says, shyly looking away from his intense gaze and looking at the other Navi and human. Lo’ak winks at her, causing her to look at him in shock and turn her head back to Neteyam. 

Neteyam notices her discomfort, taking her hand and leading her to his family’s tent which was completely empty. 

The two sit in silence before Neteyam speaks up. “Thank you… for what you did. I wouldn’t be here right now if it wasn’t for you. I’m Neteyam by the way,” he introduces himself. The girl looks back at him and softly smiles in response, her head still spinning with thoughts of what would happen now. “Neteyam,” she repeats. “I’m Y/N.”

His heart skipped a beat at her saying his name and he touches her hand, staring into her hazel orbs that were filled with confusion. He found himself wishing that he could take that wariness and fear away. He couldn’t deny how beautiful she was. He hated her human clothes for covering her form and wished that he could simply take his knife and cut off the restricting material. The night before, he found himself filled with desire thinking about how her breasts had looked through her wet shirt. He ended up having to sneak out of the tent late at night, his manhood hard and showing no sign of going back down. Main reason for my dislike of White Knight: I hate Jaune and Weiss is my favorite character, so I think she deserves better. I know some people won’t say this is a valid reason but Jaune originally and currently isn’t written very well. You basically have to give him his own episode to flush out his plot line, (like in the first season and every season afterwards where he’s important) and he’s not a main character so he takes up screen time. (They do the same with Oscar and the rest of JNPR Instead of doing a JNPR episode, they do each of them individually with sprinkles of plot in between) Honestly, a relationship between him and Weiss would be a bad idea. Case in point:

Weiss admires Jaune over the fact that he’s mature, and supports him like a good friend after Ruby runs away. He reverts to his old form, and we never hear from them again. (+2)

Main reason for liking Whiterose: Enemies to friends to lovers is an adorable trope, and they get a lot of screen time together in the first few seasons. Also, Monty himself shipped them. While I won’t say Whiterose is objectively better than White Knight, I am going to say that when I include my own opinion, it is better. Weiss and Ruby’s relationship feels more like a slow burn than Yang and Blake’s. We get scenes that could be interpreted that way in almost every season since Volume one. Let me go through them, and to show how unfair this is, I’m not allowed to add more than 1.5 points:

Volume 1 Whiterose Moments

Ruby and Weiss are off to a rocky start, but slowly warm up to each other as time goes on, and they get closer. They have a mildly, could-be considered romantic moment where Weiss makes Ruby coffee so she can stay up to study. (+1)

Volume 2 Whiterose Moments

In the food fight, Ruby dramatically catches Weiss when she falls and pretends to cry over her. (Not really much, but it’s something). Ruby and Weiss consistently pair up to get things done throughout the season, especially when looking into information about Cinder. (+1)

Volume 3 Whiterose Moments:

Supporting each other when Winter gets there (that is Volume 3, right?), excellent teamwork in the first stage of the Amity Arena battle, and Weiss’s concern for Ruby when she disappears. (+1)

Volume 4 Whiterose Moments:

Thinks about each other, but otherwise, nothing. (No points awarded or deducted)

Volume 5 Whiterose Moments:

Weiss remember’s Ruby’s coffee taste. While this could be something any friend does, they spend time together, reflecting over beacon, and Weiss helps Ruby’s sister Yang through an implication that she’s doing it for team RWBY, but especially their eccentric fluffball of a leader. (+1.5)

Volume 6 Whiterose Moments:

Ruby saves Weiss on the train, Weiss saves Ruby in the battle against the mech, and they spend time together in the village with the grim. I should give two points here but I’m loyal to my word. (+1.5)

Volume 7 Whiterose Moments:

Ruby and Weiss sitting together during training, and Weiss supporting Ruby when the team splits up. (+0.5)

Volume 8 Whiterose Moments:

Supporting each other all throughout the volume by working together, and acting as teammates and partners. (+0.5)

Volume 9 Whiterose Moments:

Ruby supports Weiss after her being upset about the fall of Atlas. (Jaune’s interaction with Weiss, -1 point- would have been two, though)

In any scenario, Whiterose wins. Im sure other people could come up with reasons to disprove me, or say I’m biased (I am, this is in no way objective), but these are the things I saw with my own eight eyes because I own three pairs of glasses, and heard with my (admittedly failing) teenage ears.

I’m sure I’ll get flak for this from both sides of the shipping community, because admittedly, the RWBY fandom can be toxic (but it’s almost any fandom at that point) saying I either graded White Knight too harshly or I gave too many or too few points to Whiterose, and I also did all of this off the top of my head, so I apologize for my many mistakes. I have two last statements:

Rosegarden: 0/9

Oscar is 14 and Ruby is 17. If I, the same age as Oscar as of 2023, would not date Ruby at that time, it’s probably wrong. When it comes to relationships for younger people, it’s best to avoid age gaps larger than 2 years. It’s also best to avoid relationships altogether until you can at least go for a learner’s permit. I rest my case.

edit 3: alright, some people have corrected me on the age part, apparently he’s fifteen. I don’t hate Rosegarden, but something about Ozpin and Oscar being the same person makes me really uncomfortable (again, as someone who is younger). Thats the only reason I didn’t give it any rating- it just feels too close to, well… I don’t really have to say it. Especially when the whole point of things is that Oscar and Ozpin are becoming the same person.

My favorite relationship dynamics

You literally send me into a rabbit hole with that question. I've been researching relationship dynamics for the last few hours straight and I'm pretty sure I won't stop for the next hours or even days. It's just so much fun and now I really feel the urge to draw Alastor and Mara in as many fitting relationship dynamics as possible. I swear, the ideas are COOKING.

There are so many good dynamics what makes it even harder for me to answer your question because it feels impossible for me to reduce the list to just my top three... So, this response might get a little bit out of hands. But maybe it'll be a helpful inspiration for anyone who reads this!

So, one of my all time favorite tropes is "enemies to lovers". And there are so many possibilities to showcase this trope in different dynamics...

First off, there's the classic "enemies to lovers". Both hate each other or are on different sides but end up falling in love. Oh, the denial and slow burn is just chefs kiss. I just adore a well written push and pull between two characters who are supposedly enemies or rivals but secretly pine for each other.

But what about two characters who despise each other but accidentally end up in bed just to regret their actions the morning after? Ooooooh, the potential... The possibility of creating delicious second hand embarrassment and the possible banter between the character's following afterwards while they continue pretending as if nothing happened even though both of them get constantly haunted by the memory of sharing a night together... Just 😘👌🏻

Or imagine enemies who are ALSO lovers? Like hate-love relationship but take it LITERALLY.

Another category of ship dynamics I ADORE is "villainous couples". Both of them just want to watch the world burn; they're both murderers and horrible people but their relationship is all loving, caring and healthy and just all over wholesome. They're devoted to each other like Gomez and Morticia Addams and support each other's heinous plans. This is definitely a top tier dynamic, in my opinion.

Other villain ship dynamics I like are "evil genius x the supportive". Or "the tough ahh mastermind villain x their annoying simp". (I've thought about this dynamic so often and it sounds hilarious.)

Or what I'm also into (which is also a classic) is "villain x ex hero". Who cares about redeeming the villain when the hero can get corrupted...? Especially if the villain is in the right the whole time or if the villain just loves to create chaos but is still charismatic af. (Dude doesn't need to be changed. He's perfect the way he is 👌🏻)

"The person who doesn't believe in love but then falls in love with the hopeless romantic" will also have my heart forever! The denial, the mutual pining but not wanting to confess because they fear rejection or appearing weak (It's basically every good Alastor x OC/reader romance story I've read and I'm down bad for this trope.)

"Grumpy x Sunshine"? A classic. I like it. But what about "looks evil but is actually sweet x looks sweet but is actually a psychopath"?

Or "looks dangerous but is completely harmless x looks harmless but will actually kill you if you hurt their partner"?

"Big scary demon overlord x their little bean" is also so much fun to read and write. Or just imagine "big scary demon overlord x random dude":

Character A: "ł'₥ ₲ØⱤ₲Ø₮Ⱨ, ĐɆ₴₮ⱤØɎɆⱤ Ø₣ ₩ØⱤⱠĐ₴!!! And this is Steve."

Character B: *casually waves their hand*

Or just "the tough ahh stoic and intimidating character who has a huge soft spot for character B"... It's so cute in my opinion and I just love it when all grumpy melts around their partner... It makes them appear even more special to them...

I also like the idea of "tough and serious x silly and clumsy" (bonus points if they have ADHD).

I just really like polar opposites as a dynamic, especially if everyone else thinks they don't match but it actually works out perfectly for them! They're so much fun and can complement each other in ways that make stories so exciting...

ok so keep in mind what we do actually know about Marcus and Oliver is a little limited so alot of this is more just how I see them personally at this moment in time alright?

Also this may be annoying to read so ill add a TLDR at the end jdfhadk

Really though for me at least when it comes to Flintley vs Perciver alot of it comes more down to outside factors and just Marcus being meaner

Like Flintley is a very "mean to everyone but you" type of ship to me. Even though I do still think he has his moments when it comes to Percy anyway. it's a ship where one side falls within a few meetings most of the time to me (normally Flint). A ship where when/if the other person falls to that everything else will happen extremely quickly.

It's also slightly a Flustered/Experienced ship dynamic to me because of me recently being obsessed with the concept of Marcus being a total prude who doesn't want to disappoint his family any more then he already has. Like that isn't always important but it's fun to play with and not something I tend to play with when it comes to Perciver.

Because with Oliver I tend to actually think of him as having a very loving family who treat him really well mostly because of the fun difference that shows with Percy's family.

Also I think the fact Oliver never seems like embarrassed or concerned about how much he only cares about Quidditch is a sign that his home life is pretty good or at the very least like supportive of him.

While with Marcus I like to make his family even worse then the Weasley's for the same reason. So I tend to think of them as putting a lot of pressure on him and him having a very difficult time living up to it.

I'm also one of those people that take the text fuck up the writer made about Marcus' year in the first book as just him having failed that year so i don't tend to think of Percy and Marcus interacting much at all before like Percy's sixth year.

Even though it was later fixed I think it's just more interesting and adds more layers to him and another thing for him to feel like a fuck up about as well as just being an easy way to force him and Percy to interact.

so it just stays fact to me.

Perciver is a slow burn friends to lovers type ship to me I know enemies to lovers is like gaining ground with them but I personally don't care for it much. I prefer when they do still end up bickering at times but for the most part get along really well.

I think even after both of them realize they have feelings that it takes forever for them to own up to it. Neither side wants to lose the other as a friend so they both try to just push it down and ignore it even though it doesn't really work very well

Both sides are convinced the other is way to good to be with someone like them so everything is very slow moving

I tend to think of them as getting together later in life vs a Hogwarts romance.

I do think both ships have a an obsessive like tint to them because both Marcus and Oliver both have that obsessive personality

though I do think Flints more of a bitch about it

Oliver at least tries not to be a jealous bitch and just kind of buries it when he feels it

While Flint doesn't even attempt to hide when he's having a jealousy fit

I think most of the Weasleys adore Oliver and can't stand Marcus

I think Oliver is more likely to not take Percy's side on something if he really thinks he's wrong when it comes to his family (even though he wouldn't say that actually in front of the other Weasleys)

while Percy could literally say something way off and incorrect and Marcus will still be 120% on his side against his family(and will say so Infront of them without care)

Marcus is more likely to not try to convince Percy to always forgive his family

while I think Oliver would be likely to try to

even though in both cases I do think the final decision is left to Percy either way and both would follow what he decides

Oliver's first love is Quidditch but Percy is very close behind it

Marcus puts Percy above everything else to an unhealthy degree

So Tldr the main big differences to me

Flintley:

Meaner then Oliver

Why do you write Steddie?

Ooh, I have a long and storied past with shipping and, while I've been a Stranger Things fan since the start, I hadn't really picked up any shipping threads until S4. I think Steve and Eddie have a great mix of that jock and loser dynamic and enemies to lovers vibe that works really well - but also the ending to S4 was really ripe for some good angst storytelling. A little reminiscent of Stucky or Reddie.

What’s your favorite trope to READ?

Hm. I'm not sure. I am a sucker for time travel, but I don't think I've red too much of that. Probably slow-burn - I just love being frustrated!

What’s your favorite trope to WRITE?

Well … according to my most used tags on Ao3, it's AUs and Time Travel, and Friends to Lovers shows up there as well, which all sound right. I know that I'm enjoying a book or show or whatever when I think, I need to write and AU of this!

What’s your favorite Steddie fic?

Ahh! That's too hard - I have a lot of bookmarks for fics I love! It’ probably a battle between Lovesick in Loch Nora by red0aktree and standing up the dead by heartofwinterfell. The first is so gah, you know? So romcon. The latter, I love the concept. Even though it's Max-led, Eddie is fabulously done in that fic, for sure.

Is there a trope you’re excited to explore in a future work but haven’t yet?

Not really - ideas tend to swoop in when I'm not actively thinking about it. I have had a niggling little thought about a folklore esque cryptic came back wrong story, something creepy, you know. But we'll see!

What is your writing process like?

Overly organised! I'm a planner, so I need to know what the ending is before I start - I will generally map out acts and scenes and character arcs before I write the first sentence, which I think helps me immensely so that I don't have to do so many edits later.

Do you have any writing quirks?

I'm sure I must do, but I don't know about them. I guess - I'll tend to write all my dialogue in a scene first as a but of a template and then fill in the gaps.

Do you prefer posting when you’ve finished writing or on a schedule?

Oh, when I've finished for sure. The only time I've ever abandoned a fix was when I posted as I was going on a schedule and it really killed the enjoyment of it for me - too much pressure on timing and the lack if ability to go back and fiddle with things.

Which fic are you most proud of?

I'll stick to my Steddie fics, so it would have to be An Act of Grace, for the Bigbang. I adore that fic, honestly, and worked really hard on it. I think it came out almost exactly how I wanted it and I was so excited when posting finally arrived!

How did you get the idea for An Act of Grace?

It was two things, really - firstly I had watched ‘Howards End’ with Joseph Quinn in and fully needed to see Eddie in the similar time period, I could not get it out of my head - the idea of a servant Eddie and aristocratic Steve came to me pretty quickly after that and was too perfect. Also, though, I wanted to do something with a distinctly English vibe to it (I am English!) - I sometimes feel a bit at sea writing USAmerican characters and settings, so something more familiar I though might work better for me.

When writing When the Sun is High (I’ll Meet You In the Woods), what was something you didn’t expect?

For it to be so popular, actually! Particularly as it was being posted. It's my most popular Steddie fic by a country mile and I'm really fond of it - trying to get a version of Steve and Eddie who had a history to work with canon was a fun challenge.

What inspired If I Loved You Less?

Well, its an Emma AU, so Emma! I was watching the most recent film adaption and NEEDED to write it, but I also loved Clueless growing up, so putting a modern twist on it made the most sense to me. The placement of characters in that story was very fun!

What was your favorite part to write from Blackbird?

The tree decorating scene, for sure. I love that part of Christmas myself, so I had a great time adding in little bits and pieces from people I know and traditions they have.

How do/did you feel writing When the Sun is High (I’ll Meet You In the Woods)?

Gosh, it feels like it was so long ago! I was just excited to get something out into fandom, I think, and to become part of the community.

What was the most difficult part of writing The Wonder?

Ooh, probably knowing that it wasn't going to do very well? 😄 I completely love that little fic, so to kind of keep it contained to just Eddie and Wayne - even mostly Wayne - was tricky. Sometimes less is more!

Do you have a favorite scene and/or line from any of your fics?

Hm. In the epilogue of An Act of Grace, Claudia gives a little speech about Steddie. I think I like that a lot for the way it kind of sums everything up so nicely. A bit of a snapshot of them as characters.

Do you have any upcoming projects or fics you’d like to share/promote?

Nope! I've taken a bit of a break from writing at the moment, buy I've been at it for 13 years, so I'm sure I'll be back at it in the future.

Am I the only one that doesn't get the whole Sesshomaru x Kikyo thing?

Don't get me wrong I don't want to come after people who ship it I mean ship what you want I'm a multishipper myself.

I get Sesshomaru and Kagome (not a big fan of this either) and even Sesshomaru x Sango or even Sessrin (although this absolutely disgusts me) but Sesshomaru and Kikyo met once (?) I think in a movie and this was only because Sesshomaru told her, that he wants to kill Inuyasha.

So I just don't get it. It's just my opinion. There are a few kinda weird ships that I just don't get but I'm just afraid to raise my voice at it because I ship two characters, some people just don't want to see together.

And I won't be hating on these ships because that's not fair and people are free to ship what they want, as much as I want to be free to ship what I want.
