Remember when I told you Disney wasn't going to "save you" from AI?
Megacorps like Disney have mountains of exclusive data they "own" that they can use to create their own internal, proprietary, AI systems. They have every sketch, development photo, unused concept art piece, cut scene, note, doodle, rotoscope/animation reference footage, every storyboard, merch design document, you name it.
Tumblr media
And that's on top of every single frame of every movie and TV show. Every panel of every comic.
That's why Disney supports the efforts to clamp down on AI for copyright reasons, because they own all the copyrights. They want that power in their hands. They do not want you to be able to use a cheap or free utility to compete with them. Along the way, they'll burn the entire concept of fair use to the ground and snatch the right to copyright styles. Adobe has confessed this intention, straight to congress.
When the lawyers come, you won't be accused of stealing from say, artist Stephen Silver. You'll be accused of stealing the style of Disney's Kim Possible(TM).
But don't listen to me. Listen to the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

HEY YOU! DO YOU HATE AI?
The U.S. copyright office is seeking public comments on AI generated artwork and copyright law. BASICALLY that means that they're asking for everyday American people to tell them how they feel about how copyright law should handle AI.
AO3 explains it better than I could:
Tumblr media
SO PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Go tell the U.S. copyright office that AI devs should legally require consent for training their models and that AI generated works should be non-copyrightable!

As any woman can tell you, what Adobe is doing to artists feels like assault
instagram
Women in the arts are already familiar with being exposed to exploitative treatment from tech bros and executives across all industries, but now those assholes are also trying to violate their copyrights and sell derivative ripoffs of their creative souls to seedy marketing hacks and fake "artists" who steal other people's hard labor.
We need a Digital Bill of Rights, we need it NOW, and we need it to be RETROACTIVELY APPLIED to offenses that are currently being committed by major corporations that are aggressively and deliberately violating the rights of creatives and causing very real trauma as a result.

how AI covers hurt voice actors
youtube
Nothing new in this community, but the it's a good video which I hope can reach a lot of audience and maybe help one or the other to decide to stopp listening and supporting AI created content.
Also general advice, report as much of the AI covers as you can, I think that's what we owe our idols and heroes!

One thing I hate about AI is that it's revealed this gross, selfish sense of entitlement in humanity.
Even if AI art was hypothetically taken from completely ethical sources, I would not be in support of it.
People say that AI is democratizing art, which is an argument that only makes sense if we are viewing art exclusively as a product to be consumed (which is insanely devaluing to artists, but that's besides the point). And to that I say, no, it's not democratizing art because art is available to literally anyone who either just pays an artist or cares enough to learn how to draw it themself.
This is just the thing, people who say this don't want to pay an artist, they don't want to learn how to draw it, but yet they still think they should have access to it. That sense of entitlement to things someone would usually have to either pay for or learn to make themself is beyond me.
People want to generate AI art because they want art without wanting to learn how to draw or paying someone else to, because they think they are entitled to art just because they want it.
People want to generate an AI essay for them because they want a good grade without actually doing the assignment and writing an essay, because they think they are entitled to that good grade just because they want one.
People want to generate AI coding for them because they want a program without actually learning how to code or paying someone who does, because they think they are entitled to a program just because they want one.
No. You do not deserve anything that you want. If you want a good cover for your book, but you don't want to pay an artist to draw one or you don't want to learn how to draw one yourself, YOU DON'T DESERVE A BOOK COVER.
If you can't hire someone else to do something for you or learn how to do it yourself, why should you have that thing you want?
