Hi, I’m having a great day and I hope you are/did as well!! I kind of went overboard and turned these headcanons into a mini-oneshot/drabble, so skip to the end to get to the more possessive behavior~ (also, I don’t feel like I made it yandere enough, so if you want to request this again, please feel free to!!) Actually I might already have ideas on redoing this if I have the motivation in the future!

Leona is surprised, tries playing it cool.

However, now that he knows that you’re a girl, it becomes hard for him to control his emotions and behavior.

Because lions are territorial and do not usually interact with other males if they are in packs, he felt it was more taboo and suspicious if he hung around you often when he thought you were both male.

At that time however, he still couldn’t help but be drawn to you, as you were the school’s anomaly and couldn’t stop getting into trouble because of Ace and Deuce. He initiated contact with you to keep you from hanging around those buffoons from the Heartslabyul dorm. He didn’t want to see you around anyone other than him.

You two had quickly grown close, as you continually tried motivating him to do work while straining to keep your own motivation high, and ended up taking on Ruggie’s job in the process.

One day, you were back at Ramshackle because you had to check in periodically to make sure that your living quarters were pristine, and Leona just so happened to stalk follow you there.

As he entered the place, he made sure not to draw attention to himself as you were busy berating Grim, and slipped into your room.

Leona looked around, and an article of clothing caught his attention.

A bra laid on your unkempt bed, and his eyes widened until they were as big as saucers.

Just then, his ears swiveled to the door as your footsteps approached the room.

His momentary panic sent him scrambling underneath your bed, as the windows were shut and his only other exit was blocked by you.

There was a thud and the mattress above his head bounced.

You muttered something under your breath and after a couple, long, moments, your breathing had slowed.

Deciding that it was probably safe to emerge, Leona cautiously crept out from under your bed and bolted out of Ramshackle dorm as quietly and quickly as he could. Definitely not holding a new piece of clothing in his hands.

After that incident, his possessiveness flares even at the slightest contact he witnesses between you and the other students.

He’s constantly making up excuses for you to spend your time with him at the botanical garden and the Savannaclaw dorm.

If you choose to ignore him for someone else, that person will end up in the infirmary one way or another, either with him enjoying torturing the poor fellow, or Ruggie dishing out the dirty work for his boss.

You seemed the same as ever, but now that he knows the truth, he can’t see you in the same light.

When he sleeps near you, he always subconsciously grabs a hold of you and his muscle mass really doesn’t make it possible for you to escape his grasp until he wakes up hours later.

Leona frequently rubs his head and neck on yours, as he considers you his territory and one of his females, so he deems it important to never let you out of his sight.

Be prepared to always have to be at his beck and call, especially because his frustration due to his brother’s privileges makes him think that if there’s anything in the world he deserves now, it’s you.

I will, of course, be honoring my beloved Arlasaire today with a combo of spoken dialogue and narration. That being said, I don't really write good out-of-context bangers lines lol -- everything only barely works because of the context. (I wish I was. I'm not that cool though.)

"Nesa… I warned Zal so I’ll warn you too: I’m not very good at relationships."

On that first day after they found me, — back before I was “Arlasaire”— I’d been the one to kill the spider crabs chasing Lord Einharde’s second lieutenant.

"Lord Einharde embodied the House words with all his heart. “Eshew Axiom for Ascendancy.” This made him cold, but he was good to me."

His name rotted in my memory now.

Hi, i hope this question doesn't bothers you, do you have any videos of your process?, im currently starting to learn how to do digital art and have trouble knowing where to start and what to do (im always like, should i start drawing this part first?, is it better to do clean lineart or just paint over the sketch?, do i work on the lights first or the shadows?, etc)

I can probs make you a video on this at some point based on something I'm currently working on, although I have a few on my tiktok already (@ xephia) if that helps!

My process is a bit messier than many other artists - I alternate between stages of sketch and colour before I even think about ‘final colour’. I’ll start with a sketch like the ones below, then slap some rough colour on. This is because IMO colour is an important part of the composition so I want to see what works before I line. They’re not meant to be pretty or social media ready. This stage can look super messy or tidy depending on how I feel or how complicated it is. And they can look wildly different; here’s some examples:

That stage also helps me decide if I want to finish the piece or if I should abandon it (I abandon a lot). Sometimes this stage takes 15min, sometimes 2 hours, it really depends on the piece. But for me personally, it’s crucial because otherwise I find it very hard to envision how it will look later, or forget what I was planning.

Then, I do at least one more layer of ‘sketch line art’, which is basically a first layer of line art to see what works and what needs changing. I colour the important bits relatively cleanly (usually character/s) and add might some subtle shadows/gradients and/or lighting to get a feel of what it will look like finished. Sometimes I repeat this process a couple of times if I’m not happy with how the first iteration looked. This stage usually looks a little like this character sheet I’m working on, and this slice from a Kiki delivery service sketch:

It’s usually not until I’ve done all that, that I go over and do the final lineart, making it thicker, colouring the lines, redoing the flat colours, tidying it up, and adjusting where needed. Essentially I don’t start ‘finishing’ a piece until I’m happy with where everything sits and what colours I’ve picked. It’s only at this point I feel like the sketch is ready to line, and lining and final colouring can actually take less time for me than all those layers of planning somehow haha.

At this point I keep tidying, cleaning, lining, colouring, until the piece feels complete. Sometimes complete for one piece is tidier than complete for another, it really depends.

I’ll also use Procreate’s push tool to adjust things as I go in all steps - it saves a lot of time and isn’t cheating.

Although as you can probably tell from my examples, I do change this procress up a lot depending on the piece! Sometimes I’ll even paint over parts of my final piece like I did in this magical girl street. I think find whatever works for you, everyone will work differently and things like mood, energy levels, how patient you feel, how stressed you are, if you have any hand pain or shaking, and how much free time you have that day to draw can all affect your process day to day, week to week.

Some days it will be easier and more comfortable to sketch messily, other days tidier. Some days you will draw well, other days not well at all. At least for me, I find consistency almost impossible.

So I think there's no right or wrong order to do things and it's great to switch it up and keep things interesting for yourself, and different processes work for different people. Hope this helps!

Some thoughts about Penny’s potential (I hope) revival (as I am indeed delusional, hopeful, but also I still have valid arguments for that lmao).

I imagine a few different ways for Penny to potentially be able to come back. So first I just wanted to talk again about the reasons I think she could come back, as her death isn’t depicted the same way as Pyrrha’s at all. I already wrote other threads about that so I’ll just sum up quickly the main reasons :

1) Penny’s arc is tragic and even if her final choice was shown to us as a choice, it wasn’t really one to me. She didn’t get anywhere close to her goals (aka : live a simple life and enjoy it with her friends, discover the world, experience it just like a human would do) and decided to end her life as a sacrifice to protect her friends. It feels like her arc isn’t done or closed at all, because other characters were closer to their own goals (etc : Pyrrha who wanted to be a Huntress, she died but as if she was one, also her character is based on a tragic story already-).

2) Penny’s based on Pinocchio, a character who dies multiple times in his original story. He dies by being hanged if I’m not wrong (parallel to Penny dying by her own strings connected to Floating Arrays). The second time he dies, it’s by drowning to save his father. Then he’s revived by the Blue Fairy. Penny also died by sacrificing herself to protect the powers and the Relic (even if Salem got the Staff).

Also, Penny has a lot of similarities with Astroboy. Even if at the start, Astro was a human who died and was revived as a robot, there are still so many parallels to Penny’s story. I saw a thread about it already so I don’t know if I’ll redo one but when I find it I’ll link it here. Not to mention the fact that at the end of the 2009 movie (idk for the original story or the anime), Astroboy dies by sacrificing himself to save everyone. Zog (who was revived by Astroboy earlier) shares a bit of his blue energy to revive Astroboy again.

So at the end of their stories, both Pinocchio and Astroboy got the chance to live their life after tragedies after tragedies, even after they both sacrified their lives and expected to never be able to come back. So I wonder why this wouldn’t be possible for Penny, would could completely have her chances after struggling SO MUCH for so long. She literally never had any break : in Vale she wasn’t free, she couldn’t be alone for too long, she was told not to talk to anybody, she was just here to fight at the tournament. She’s followed by Ironwood, his soldiers, she’s controlled. Even if she breaks these rules to be able to become friend with Ruby and team RWBY, she’s still always under someone’s watch, with Ciel too for example.

During V7-8, she never had the chance to really experience anything as well. She wasn’t in any team anymore, she was the Protector of Mantle, so she could only be alone fighting monsters in Mantle. She was just here to work, all the time, Ironwood telling her she didn’t have the time for friends. Then she got framed once again at the elections, and was on the side for a moment because she was scared, confused, people asked for her to be destroyed, and they also had to recover her memories to prove her innocence. Then, RIGHT after everything started to get better for her, she got stuck in the situation with the Winter Maiden powers she never wanted in the first place.

From this moment she was just NEVER in peace. She, team RWBY and others were wanted, Ironwood, the Ace-Ops and Winter were after her, she couldn’t fight like she wanted, Pietro wanted her to stay far from all of that, Cinder attacked her for the powers, she got hacked. Salem sent the Hound after her as well, then she was just stuck with the virus. She FINALLY had that very short moment to breath after Ambrosius turned her body to flesh because she was free from the virus, but she was still the Maiden so she still had this role to play to protect people in Vacuo. But her friends got attacked and she just decided to stop everything by giving Winter the powers.

(btw, one thing that I’d like to add is that Penny died to protect her friends because she knew Cinder wanted the powers she didn’t want herself. This was probably the most logical option for her at this point. The powers are the main reason why she tried several time to tell people to let her sacrifice herself, or to kill her, because it was also a source of suffering for her.)

This girl literally never had ONE SINGLE moment to experience anything, those were just tiny bits here and there by talking to Ruby and the others, but it was still during work time, she still had duties, etc.

When you look at her arc with an overall view, this is WAY too far from her inital goals. I get that life can be cruel as well in RWBY, but this character is so far the most tragic character of the series. Both times she could live, she’s never been able to do so as she was controlled from everywhere. That’s why I don’t really see her arc ending like that as a definitive end. This is really too far for her character and if she really doesn’t come back, this will be the most cruel thing ever to do to me aha-

3) All the hints for her in Volume 9 and the BIG chunks of RWBY lore we got just convinced me that things couldn’t stop here. This volume was really about rebirth and reincarnation, not just for Ruby but also literally for other characters (Little/Somewhat, the Paper Pleasers/the Genial Gems, the Herbalist). We got a complete new vision about balance in the RWBY universe. So far balance was represented by two childish brothers who act like gods when they’re not gods. They talk about balance when the only thing they’re able to do is fight, break their own rules, and impose this idea of life and death when they come from a place where death doesn’t exist like on Remnant. It’s balance, repair, coming back as something new. This volume ends with no closure for Penny, and a lot of hope from me about this whole thing.

4) Penny’s soul isn’t lost, it’s in Winter’s soul. In Volume 7, Penny said about Fria “she’s... gone”. Winter answered with “No. She’s a part of you now”. And we have this parallel in the Volume 8 finale : “when you’re... gone...”. “I won’t be gone, I’ll be a part of you !”. This isn’t just metaphorical, this is also literal : the powers are linked to the soul/the Aura, so even if the body dies, in fact the soul doesn’t go to the Afterlife or somewhere else : it goes with the new Maiden’s soul.

5) Also, I’d like to mention a few of the stuff starting to be developped in Volume 8 with Penny : her friendship with Nora, these two got closer this volume and Nora helped Penny to fight the virus and to think as herself as more than a machine as well. At the end she was even concerned about her and said “I hope Penny is okay”. She cares about her, and just kill her off like that without developping anything more seems a bit odd ? Even Clover who got killed as well had time to have a bigger influence on Qrow. This can’t be the only thing Nora could do for Penny to me. Same goes for Winter, even if Penny’s arc was also a way to develop Winter’s character, I just feel sad that they only talk about that in the end.

6) I think Penny and Ruby would be really beneficial for each other. Outside of the ship aspect (even if I’m a very big Nuts and Dolts shipper as well aha-), I think both of their arc are truly intertwined and connected in many ways. With Ruby finally being able to let go of this idealized image of her mother, this opens so much possibilities for her character. With Penny being back, this would just be so great for them to be able to be themselves together. So far Ruby was never just a leader or a strong warrior for Penny, she was Ruby first. For Ruby, Penny wasn’t just a machine or the Winter Maiden, she was Penny first. I’d love to see more of their arc developped together fully this time.

With all of that said (I could go deeper into the arguments but it would be sooo long and I already wrote others theads for the Volume 9 content for example !), I’d like to talk about how Penny could come back.

So far I have a few characters and elements that could play a part in that : first we have Pietro, Penny’s father, who’s still around in Vacuo as it’s probably the case since we saw Amity Arena there. We have Ambrosius, who’s the spirit of creation, even if he’s currently with Salem’s team. We now have the Blacksmith, even if she/they are in the Ever After, who’s the RWBY God and the origin of everything and seem to be omniscient. We also have Winter, the current Winter Maiden, Jaune and his Semblance, Ruby for her bond and relationship with Penny. As for other elements, we have the Aura Transfer Machine, that we still never really saw in action.

The possibilities that Volume 9 brought are actually so big that I can’t fully imagine what it could be like. I just think that this isn’t the last time we’ll see the Tree and the Ever After before the end of the story. At this point I think it’s probably almost certain that the Brothers are going to be back on Remnant after all the Relics are reunited, but we don’t know how things will play out for that. This is hard to think about the end of the story overall because there are sooooo much things to talk about aha. But rn we can still focus on what we have in Vacuo.

I already talked earlier about how Pietro’s character is important for Penny. I honestly think that if they wanted to kill Penny definitely, they would have killed Pietro as well. But Pietro’s still here and he’s a key for Penny’s development and literal existence. He’s his own character of course, but his role as a scientist in Atlas was still covered by the fact that before anything else, he was Penny’s father. He gave parts of his own soul to make her and lost her once. But instead of giving up, he remade her and gave more parts of his soul. After losing her a 2nd time, unless he had Maria’s support and help, I don’t really see him grieving her. He wasn’t even able to not remake her the first time, instead of grieving he rebuilt her. So this time again, especially after seeing his reactions in Volume 8, how he wanted her to have the chance to live her life, how he got upset, I don’t think he would not at least try to remake her.

Now, how could it be done ? I rewatched parts of Volume 3 about Amber, the Maiden powers but also the ATM (Aura Transfer Machine). Ironwood says that Atlas studied Aura in a more scientific way, to understand how it works, its composition, etc. And that’s how they built the ATM, that is made to “capture an Aura and put it into something else”. In Pyrrha’s case, it was capturing Amber’s Aura to put in into Pyrrha, so she could have the powers with it.

Now let’s imagine that with the time skip we have in Vacuo, because we see how everyone had the time to go there, there are multiple ships from every kingdom etc. What if Pietro had the time to study more this machine so it can be able to capture an Aura even if it’s into someone else’s Aura ? In that case, it would be extracting Penny’s soul from Winter’s, without taking the Winter Maiden powers with it. Because yeah I don’t think she would have the powers and I don’t think she should have them. It wouldn’t made sense with her arc and she never wanted these powers in the first place. I think that if she’s revived, she needs to just be Penny and not the Winter Maiden, Winter is perfect for that. Penny was an amazing Maiden as well, but this wasn’t something she wanted to be. I feel like this would make more sense if she had the possibility to just be Penny, to discover herself, her Semblance, stuff like that. After extracting Penny’s soul from Winter, we should put it into something else, maybe Pietro had the time to make another robot body. But would she stay a robot ? I was thinking about the fact that the only necessary thing was to put her soul into something that could be destroyed, it wouldn’t have to be a robot. Maybe her soul could be captured and contained into an object or something, so Ambrosius would just have to do the exact same thing he did with her the first time : recreate the object without the soul, and with that process creating a byproduct which would be a human body for Penny.

Or, since the Blacksmith probably knows about Penny’s death since she has her sword and probably knows as well how much Penny meant for Ruby, maybe she’ll play her part in that. She literally says again “nothing, no one is ever truly lost”, and she’s the one talking about balance like “going to repair and get the chance to become something new”. I feel like the Blacksmith is still gonna be relevant for what’s to come in RWBY’s story.

There’s also the idea that I saw about Pietro sacrificing himself to remake Penny, sharing the rest of his soul to her. I also read this idea of Ruby and Jaune giving parts of their souls as well for her, or Jaune boosting Pietro, allowing him to survive the process. As for the Brothers, we know they can basically bring back people from the dead as saw in The Last Fable (Volume 6), but I doubt this would be just like with Salem. I’d love the Tree/the Blacksmith to play a role into this or to have an influence on the Brothers, so they remember where they come from and how it works there.

If Penny gets revived, either she’s gonna be herself, or she could have partial/total amnesia, that’s a possibility too. It’s pretty hard to know at this point, but I like to think about all options. Overall, I just feel like Penny’s arc is far to be done. Even in Volume 9 ending song The Edge we hear lyrics about rebirth, “where I died I’ll be born again”, and “this is just the beginning”. Again I know this is first and foremost about Ruby’s journey and mental state, about her evolution this volume. But Penny IS a part of Ruby’s story, and was really haunting the narrative this volume. It seems really odd to have so much hints with no closure, unless they plan to do it properly in Volume 10, or if they have something planned for Penny. Truly I know CRWBY members like Penny too so eeeven if the story cannot be defined by how much they like a character, this is still something that could play in the end.

you huffed at the mirror, pulling at your hair harshly. you winced at the slight pain on your scalp but at this point, that was the least of your problems. you hated how uncooperative your hair always was.

to put it simply, you had seen the cutest hairstyle online. the only problem was that it involved doing your hair in braids. the more you tried, the more tired your arms would feel and the messier your hair would get.

you grumbled more at your reflection. you were so focused on your hair that you hadn’t noticed that younghoon had already come home from work.

younghoon brushed a hand through his hair, sighing tiredly. but, he smiled brightly when he remembered that you must be home too so he put down his bag and opened the door to the room. you were sitting, pouting angrily at yourself in the reflection.

when you spotted him in the mirror, you turned around in surprise, “y-you’re home early!” you nervously spoke, immediately schooling your harsh expression into a smile.

“i am,” he smiled, going to sit next to you on the bed. he wrapped an arm around your shoulder, pulling you against his side. he looked at you fondly, “and what were you doing? you looked upset just then.”

“oh you know…” and embarrassingly, you felt tears sting your eyes with frustration. “it’s stupid.”

“hey,” he brushed a strand out of your face softly, his finger grazing your skin. “it’s not stupid. tell me.”

you stared with hesitation before ultimately sighing.

“i just wanted to try to do my hair up in braids,” you slowly explained. “but i didn’t know how hard it would be… i’ve been struggling for an hour already!” you looked away, slightly embarrassed.

he processed your words before smiling fondly and pulling you into a firm hug, letting you melt in his arms.

“if you want…” he started. “i can try to help?”

you pulled away and looked at him with excitement, “really?”

“of course, anything for you,” he gently spoke. you smiled dearly at him, making his heart soar. and so, he now was sitting behind you as he parted your hair carefully.

you loved the feeling of his fingers against your scalp. it felt so nice that you could almost fall asleep against him. 

younghoon could sense your drowsiness as he pressed a light kiss to the top of your head, making you giggle. he started to braid your hair after.

at least… he tried to?

he was horrible at it. he kept on flipping the wrong strand, severely tangling it. or, his fingers would get caught in your hair, making him tug quite painfully. he would comb through your hair to try to redo it.

but again, he would make the same exact mistakes.

“uh,” he laughed awkwardly. you glanced back at him with amusement.

“you can’t do it either can you?” you teased.

“i’m really trying!” he whined, pouting. “i promise.”

you couldn’t help but laugh so hard that there were tears in your eyes, making him flush with mortification.

“please, i’ll get it, just give me a sec…”

“no, no,” you grasped his wrist, stopping him in his tracks. “it’s fine.”

“are you sure?” he looked at you with puppy eyes. you laughed more and nodded. and then a smirk appeared on his lips. “well, it’s fine.”

“because you look beautiful no matter what hairstyle.”

you felt your face flush and you moved to shove him, “don’t be a flirt.”

“it’s the truth,” he pressed a kiss to your cheek, wrapping his arms around your middle, pulling your back against his chest. “your hair, everything about you… so pretty.”

you stuttered, staring at him with utter shock. and much to your (not really) surprise, he tackled you down against the bed, wrapping his body over yours.

he brushed your hair out of your face again, smiling affectionately. “i’m tired, wanna cuddle?” he asked.

you furrowed your eyebrows, “we already are.”

“you’re right,” and then he nuzzled closer. he fell asleep quickly as he played with your hair, running his fingers through your scalp, and massaging it slightly. you smiled, admiring his relaxed face. why tie up your hair when you had a boyfriend who could play with your hair?

"can i do your hair next?" you asked him the next day.

Weekly Update January 12, 2024

I’m exhausted and still packing for the move tomorrow. I don’t know what’s going to happen this semester but I’m hoping I can stay kinda productive, since I should get weekends entirely off save for homework. Car ride up tomorrow, planning to do either epithet TTRPG work or thumbnailing or both.

TRGA: 1-5 Jon is done and 1-5 Emile is like half done, need cleanup and face. The more smoothly things go the more I’m worried about having to redo the old shots, but for now I think I can get away with touch ups on 1-3 and leaving 1-1 as is. 1-5 is going nice and quick so I’m hoping I can get the whole thing done by the end of the semester, but no promises.

Comic thumbnailing stuff going well, only 2 scenes away from getting through ‘act 1’ (the first third-ish of it). If I’m ambitious I might get going on writing a second issue soon too, because I have it kinda sorta outlined, and I found what is basically an outline for a third issue done as well (or a first draft of it anyway). Still gonna focus on the pitch/pilot/w.e issue for now. But because it’s been going so well I’m feeling optimistic.

I did no music stuff this week so once I’m back on campus I’m going to try to get going on one. Maybe will be a character theme, maybe will be something else. Not sure. *Really* want to get going on something animatable, but not sure how long it’ll take. Also I’ll go through that giant plug-in pack I got with the auto volume stuff to see what else it can do.

Also after racking my brain around music I listen to I think I have a basic idea of lyric whatever’s I was worried about last week. I’m going to fuck it we ball it because I think I do have a subconscious enough understanding. I’ll try to budget time to rewatching vocaloid tutorials so I can start messing with it.

Also haven’t really done a ton of Epithet TTRPG stuff other than sporadic general planning. I have a general outline for a first chapter/session/batch of sessions, I just need to plan out the details of the encounters, and trajectory for the rest of the campaign. I want to kinda combine it with another RPG I found at the store, ‘Urban Decay’, so I’ll need to throw together a document of that and any other house rules, and set up a session zero for character creation. Unsure if I want to d with friends in person, people found online, both, or a combination.

I have a big stretch of free time tomorrow, I’m going to try to actually schedule myself for that, spend X amount of time on comic thumbnailing, X on TTRPG, and X on watching Vocaloid and other music tutorials. Hoping my mood will be stable enough to maintain that schedule. From there, I’ll try to do a song on Sunday (and time myself so I can add music to my commsheet), and try another bite of animation and another thumbnail, plus maybe a drawing if I have time. Weird that drawings are such a low priority right now but it’s because the other stuff I’m working on is just that much more exciting!

I think one of the reasons some, more prominently neurodivergent, people advance so quickly in relationships, and get so attached to people, is because we hate redoing things.

Say you were reading a book, and left off midway for a while. You want to come back to it, but to get a grasp of the plot again you’d have to read everything up to the point where you left off. This however is often really boring, because while you can’t recall the things off the top of your head, you do remember them when you see them again. And so, you never finish the book, because getting back into it would be too miserable.

Another good example would be times when you lose progress in a game, losing your savefile or something. It’s likely you might just leave the game be after that, because you don’t want to do the same thing you already did again.

Or, if you do decide to do it, you skip and speed through things the second time around. You can probably see where I’m going with this.

The same thing seems to apply to relationships. As soon as you’ve gotten to some point in one relationship the “normal” way, you don’t want to go through the movements of getting there again with others. And so you skip through every new relationship you make afterwards, to get to that point as quickly as you can.

Not only that, but you’ve also likely gotten used to that ‘furthest point’, and this makes you want to be there more, since it’s where you’re most comfortable.

To make matters worse, this point gets moved further along for your whole life, since you make progress beyond it, pushing it along.

As for the issues with this:

It makes your pool of possible new friends way smaller, since most people don’t like being dragged along at such a pace when forming a relationship

You get really attached to the person(s) with whom you are at the ‘furthest point’, because losing them, or not being able to speak to them as much would mean having to go through the whole process of getting there again with a new person

It makes it more difficult to get to know someone properly, since you’re rushing through the part of a relationship where that happens most easily, naturally and safely

Which makes you more susceptible to being manipulated

I’m not sure what there is to do about this, but it’s a thought I had and wanted to get out, so here it is. Hopefully it’s decently comprehensible, I’m not always very good at communicating my thoughts.

Also, to clarify my position on this, I am and do everything I talked about here. This is pretty much just a post describing my own personal experience with things, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it resonates with others too.

I didn’t hit on nearly everything in this post, but it was getting long and I think I put my point well enough. Feel free to add to the conversation if there’s anything.

The Level up Series - The Pre’

I remember having to go to the county clerk office in my town to get information on a ticket I had acquired. It was about 10am (which was too early for me) and I didn’t even want to go. I drug myself out of bed, threw on a hoodie, sweats and slippers. I was only gonna be inside a min. My hair was a mess so I wrapped a scarf around my unlaid edges and whipped up a messy bun. I was a also an avid smoker so I of course, in true stoner fashion, smoked a blunt on my way there. This was my morning coffee. So I blasted my music and headed to the court house. 

When I got there there was no one in line so I was the first up. I saw the employees behind the counter milling around…typing things, using the copy machine or having conversations but no one stopped to greet me or acknowledge my presence. I was high so I was patient but after about 5 mins and actually making eye contact with some of the ladies I had to wave someone down to get serviced. I was helped by a lady who seemed like I was bothering her and who finally asked me to come through a door to wait for the next available representative. I could see behind the counter once I stepped inside and the employees weren’t particularly busy so I couldn’t understand the wait or annoyance they displayed. I waited about 20 more mins before I got the information I needed by another employee who also responded to me very dismissive. But something interesting happened during my wait….

A white gentlemen came in with a suit. I wouldn’t have paid him much attention because my head was down on my phone but I heard how promptly he was greeted and the “sir” that was even added in addressing him. By lady #1 who seemed annoyed with ME. The gentleman in the suit wasn’t that much older than me but she addressed him with importance. I looked at his outfit and noticed his socks were mismatched and his shoes weren’t clean. There were trays in his hemming almost as if they had been very old pants. But from the waist up (which is all they could see from the counter) he looked like somebody in charge. I was so baffled at how many people greeted him and stopped what they were doing to help him and make him feel seen and how he clearly threw something on this morning too. He was helped quickly and asked if there was anything else they could do sent on his way with a “have a nice day”While I was given my paperwork with no eye contact and a “mmmhmm” after my “thank you”.

An unhinged Gundam fanatic brainrots over the new Witch From Mercury OP/ED

Ok, I’m gonna go off the deep end really quick and talk about the brain worms that have infected me after rewatching the Witch From Mercury s2 premiere three whole times (I will likely watch it another three times by the end of the day so either I’ll be following it up or just redo this eventually)

So, I’m very used to the second OP/ED being slightly worse than their predecessors in most anime so Slash and Red:Birthmark (WHICH IS A FUCKING INSANE NAME FOR THIS SHOW) being bangers absolutely fills me with joy. However, let’s talk about some of the framing and visuals they chose to include.

(WARNING, THIS IS A LONG ASS POST BECAUSE I WATCHED THE FIRST SEASON 8.5 TIMES)

Alright. So the Slash op. Yeah.

So first off, of course we have to talk about Suletta and Miorine’s backdrops when they’re onscreen together. The detritus and ruins Suletta is surrounded by, as she’s EXTREMELY capable of causing massive acts of destruction with Aerial, compared to the green pastures Miorine nurtures in her green house and her former desire to return to Earth: upsetting, beautiful, tragic, all of the above. Also, Miorine was the strongest proponent for making GUND-ARM.inc a medical company since she found out about the original intent of the gund-arm system. Of course she would want to stop war and make everything a sunny, picturesque place.

Next elephant in the room: MIORINE FALLING INTO THE DEPTHS OF AN ABYSS

I feel fairly safe in claiming this is purposefully emulating the abyss at Plant Quetta we see whenever Quiet Zero is brought up (WHICH I WILL GET TO) but with Elnora egging Miorine on to finish Quiet Zero, I have a VERY distinct feeling something is going to happen to her while she’s working on this silly little project.

In addition, each shot of Miorine is intercut with clips of Suletta either starting to run, or actually running forward to a brighter place.

I have a distinct feeling this is indicative of Suletta having to save her from some kind of situation with Quiet Zero. The first clip of her fully sprinting is immediately followed by Miorine’s reflection shattering in a mirror. I can’t cite them specifically, but there were twitter discussions/discussions I had with friends that an aspect of uploading a person into a Mobile Suit (see aERIal theory [LETS BE FUCKING HONEST ITS BASICALLY CANON]) with Swarm drones would break apart their consciousness in a way so that each gund-bit is autonomous (mostly brought about by the fact each Gund-bit looked like Eri when the Elan Who Got Evaporated saw them). This is much more of a crack theory, but feels pertinent given how op1 finishes with a reflection of Eri looking at a Mobile Suit control console.

MOVING on, more aERIal proof I feel like I don’t have to explain this one. Hi girlie. Hope you’re having fun zooming through space and killing people.

Now the Elan clip is very interesting for me, especially with the given color palette. Dividing him into two by a blue wall leads me to think this Elan might not end up being a complete shit person/villain. My hope is that Aerial breaking the Gundam’s curse will bleed into Elan’s Gundam somehow, finally freeing him from Peil’s grasp and letting him live rather than be a disposable lab rat that has to follow orders.

Alternatively, it may be demonstrating a Dissociative Personality Disorder subplot similar to Allelujah from 00 or just the fact there’s at least 6 Elans out there somewhere. I’m not entirely certain what to make of this portion of the op, but it’s definitely brain food to munch on for a little bit. I have a feeling my thoughts will mature on this portion as we see more of the show.

NOW SOMETHING I FOUND INTERESTING about the Mobile Suit sizzle reel is the lack of any new Mobile Suits. We still have the Pharact

the Michaelis

and even the fucking Darilbalde which I’m honestly shocked by.

Most Gundam shows will tease new Mobile Suit designs like all the new villains in IBO as well as the upgraded variants of the Gundams (same with 00). Yeah, the three flagship Mobile Suits of the Benerit Group are upgraded, especially with their new weapons, but I’m just surprised there’s no advertisements of the new Gunpla models like the Demi Barding or Gundam Schwarzette which ABSOLUTELY has to show up in this season since they’re slated for a Q3 release by Bandai.

I absolutely don’t mind seeing these guys again since I do fucking love all of the wfm Mobile Suit designs, it’s just interesting to note.

OK LAST POINT TO MAKE ON THIS OP AND THAT REALLY GETS ME is the clip of Suletta running. For literally 4 frames, it looks like she’s about to trip and fall before it cuts back to her running normally again. I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHAT THEY MEANT BY THIS but I am EXTREMELY concerned it will have something to do with her struggling to move forward. Incorporating my crackpot theory about Miorine being stuck in Quiet Zero like Eri, maybe it’s her trying to rationalize fighting her fiancé in a Mobile Armor.

Final point I would like to bring up with regards to the op are the tomatoes. Originally, I thought it was supposed to be Eri reaching for them (since she was shown in the shot with Elnora previously), but turns out it’s likely a memory Miorine has of her mother given the white hair in the background.

Nothing I can think of to talk about, really, but the fact we actually see a portion of Miorine’s mother is extremely surprising since they’ve gone fairly out of their way to not depict her other than the VERY brief funeral shots.

But to finish the op off, I do love the theme of Suletta moving forward to join Miorine in the light. It’s a great throughline to have for this latter half of the show, especially given the themes and importance they put on Suletta and Elnora’s philosophy. 

Ok, interim break for me to explain my Quiet Zero theory.

The first time we see it, Elnora is giving “Aerial’s network architecture pattern” to Delling to help bring Quiet Zero to its “final stage.”

NOW WITH ALL OF THE aERIal THEORIES GOING AROUND, I really cannot help but think Aerial’s network architecture is somehow Eri’s consciousness/being/WHATEVER she did to that poor girl. So by giving him this, Quiet Zero is going to be able to absorb/take in someone’s consciousness to help pilot it. In addition, the express purpose of Quiet Zero, according to Elnora, is the complete annihilation of war (BECAUSE WE KNOW HOW WELL THAT WENT IN THE ANNO DOMINI TIMELINE in 00) so odds are, it’s some kind of fucked up Gundam weapon that would be able to outclass anything that tries to fight it.

So I’m 99% sure the finale is going to be a Gundam Mobile Armor that will absorb Miorine and wreak havoc until Eri and Suletta Newtype their way into stopping it from blowing shit up with their Super Space Empathy. Other than IBO, all Gundam shows eventually explore the Next Stage of Humanity with Newtypes, Innovators, Coordinators, and even fucking X-Rounders or whatever (I’m sorry I haven’t watched Gundam AGE yet). Plus it was already hinted at by the Vanadis Institute since they wanted to, essentially, forcibly evolve humanity with the Gund-Arm format. Also, the Gund-bits are a given for Gundams in Ad Stella and Almost Every portrayal of Mobile Armor in any Gundam show has funnels or little drones that run around like Hashmal or the Neo Zeong. So a Mobile Armor isn’t really that far of a stretch, just Miorine being stuck in it is.

In any case, my fucked up hope is Miorine goes crazyinsane after being uploaded into a Mobile Armor and Aerial does Permet Score 10 or something where she and Suletta Understand Each Other Without Misconceptions.

OK Red:Birthmark. Ed of all time.

Honestly, this might be my favorite Gundam ed (more so than the 8th MS team, even) and honestly could be my favorite Anime ed of all time. Fucking gorgeous to look at with such a pretty color palette, Sunrise really outdid themselves with this one.

Ok, Item 1: THE PURPLE SPACE BACKDROP. You cannot look me in the eye and tell me this does not evoke the same aesthetic that UC timeline Newtype connections do. Suletta willing this into existence makes me feel that even being a clone of Eri or whatever the fuck, she’s still able to sense or use an evolved sense to understand people.

NEXT UP, AND WORST OF FUCKING ALL, IS BLACK GHOST MIO MIO. WHAT THE FUCK WHAT THE FUCK WHAT DID THEY MEAN BY THIS

This is what honestly made me concoct the Quiet Zero-Miorine theory because there is absolutely no way in hell they just Decided to portray Miorine like a fucking ghost trying and failing to connect AND LITERALLY TOUCH Suletta while she’s still influenced by her mother.

We ONLY ever see Quiet Zero portrayed as a gaping black void and I can’t think of anything else that uses black as a motif or thematic element other than the Pharact, at best (arguably more dark blue/navy than black). Either way, something bad is going to happen to Mio and I fear for that girl’s life.

I feel like I don’t even have to fucking talk about THIS shit

Like alright Sunrise. Is she being killed by Aerial??? Is she turning into Aerial??? Why does she have the Gundam lines appearing on her skin??? IS ELNORA GONNA TURN HER INTO A GUNDAM TOO??? /hj on the last point

IN ANY CASE, this was a fucking choice but is also one of the most beautiful sequences I’ve seen. I also saw a youtube video that compared this to Utena’s sword drawing scenes which I thought was really funny. I’m not really convinced this is a purposeful reference, despite the two shows’ similarities in plot because of the writer, but if it turns out Aerial is drawing power from Suletta or that Suletta is actually the reason Aerial doesn’t kill its pilot because she’s a Witch From Mercury Newtype, then I’m gonna break my keyboard. Maybe the Mobile Suit Gundam: Witch From Mercurys were the ones we made along the way.

In any case, Aerial’s influence on Suletta and it directly leading into her losing Elnora’s headband and her hair falling feels like there will be a direct consequence of letting Suletta interact with Aerial so personally and directly. My hope is that Aerial will be the reason Elnora’s brainwashing finally fails and Suletta will be able to make her own decisions for herself and choose to do what she wants to do. The headband was established as Elnora’s sway over Suletta WAY early on (like episode 3 or whatever where we see Suletta getting dressed and putting it on while talking to her) so I feel like this climactic moment may be tied to. the Miorine. quiet zero theory.

Ok, now this just turns into me fawning over how utterly stunning this ed is. I really cannot express how much this animation appeals to me, combined with the colors and her dress GOD it just feels so perfect. She’s like a witch controlling the gund-bits but instead of using them to fight, she creates art and beauty, something Suletta has been striving for since the formation of the GUND-ARM company with Miorine. Critically, she believes Gundam and Mobile Suits can be made to help people, not just to commit acts of violence like the Earth Witches think.

Like, I can’t really add any theories here. It’s just amazing.

The new op and ed of this show is wholeheartedly magnificent. It packs so many visuals that are ripe for theories/analysis and this is just my insane take with what Gundam I have watched (basically wfm, ibo, 00, and a splattering of UC timeline stuff). I’m absolutely sure people with different Gundam experiences will find either marginally different, to COMPLETELY different ideas/meanings from these clips, but this is just something I wanted to type up instead of doing work askjdasfkasf.  This doesn’t even touch on any of the lyrics and how that ties into the show, but I’m absolutely certain it will kill me when the translations find their way onto my dash.

Effort

“You changed your hair," they say in unison, in an unwittingly joint effort to break the silence that had fallen when their dinner had suddenly arrived at their table.

Henrique gives a little laugh, and chooses to bury himself in his glass—after, that is, inviting Abel to go ahead first. He feels too embarrassed to do so himself.

Not entirely immune to the same sense of embarrassment, Abel trudges onwards as he fumbles for his fork, and repeats, "You changed your hair," in a way that makes his company impressed (and relieved) that he's noticed. "I like it."

"I'm glad," Henrique returns, "because if you didn't, it'd be a bit hard to fix it."

It is Francis' fault, to be perfectly honest. He has this way of complimenting people, and then suggesting in subtle ways the little changes that could be made in order to accentuate things, or rejuvenate the spirit. Before Henrique knew it, Francis had been wielding scissors, and his hair had gained some volume.

While he had insisted he get to keep the length (his pride and joy) the other had somehow persuaded him to opt for some layers, and more face-framing ones in particular, 'to show you off properly'. I mean, Henrique couldn’t complain about the free haircut. And the styling. Really, he ought to tell Francis more often if he’s got a date planned. But it is also a bit out of his comfort zone.

That is why he’s glad. It feels special to him, to know that… the little bit of extra effort that has gone into himself ready for this evening together has been worth it. That his hair’s sacrifice hasn't been for nothing, or gone to waste. 

Henrique sets down his glass, then. He has been satisfied. Just as he settles in this newfound confidence, however, a hand appears and moves his hair and tucks it so carefully behind his ear that it causes him to malfunction. He stares at Abel. Abel stares back. 

Then the other gives him a smile so small and gracious that it only makes it worse, and Henrique knows he’s barely holding himself together. He wants to leap across the table and grab him by the face and kiss him until he passes out. He wants to equally grab Abel by the neatly-pressed shirt and pull him across the table towards him and kiss him until he passes out.

Fortunately for him, Abel makes no fuss. He doesn’t point it out if Henrique’s face is flushing red or if he’s been staring too long. Instead, he goes back to his food, and pretends it hasn’t happened. Like an absolute bast—

“Have they cooked your fish well?” Henrique is asked before he has a chance to launch any kind of offensive. He checks his meal, knowing that Abel would prefer to make sure that anything that needed redoing was redone fast, but finds it’s pretty much spot on. 

With that settled, Henrique takes the opportunity to return to the original matter at hand: “You’ve changed your hair, too,” he observes as he begins to dig into his meal.

Humble as ever, Abel denies it. “Same hair, same routine,” he claims, but Henrique knows better.

“Same hair, same routine,” he concurs, “but new product?”

“…maybe.”

“Ahhh, see? I know you too well,” Henrique concludes, a victorious grin on his face. “It looks… taller. Smoother.”

“Is that a compliment…?” Abel questions.

“Yes,” he insists. “Take a look in a mirror, querido. Tall, smooth things clearly do it for me.”

“Mm. You think I’m smooth?”

“Don’t you?”

“Not intentionally.”

“That— That thing you did with my hair not thirty seconds ago was the smoothest thing I think you’ve ever done, quite frankly,” Henrique remarks. “There’s no way that wasn’t intentional.”

Abel gives a feeble shrug. “Jus’ felt right,” he supposes, not sounding sure. “I like it when you wear your hair down. I guess I can’t… help myself.”

“I’m not complaining,” Henrique assures him, still smiling. He spends a few more seconds staring at the other again—watching him, observing him, absorbing him. And then he says, heart swelling with adoration, “I love you, you know.”

The other looks up from his plate, just missing his mouth with a forkful of fish, and Henrique has to swallow down a snort of laughter. Abel plays it off—he acts like it hasn’t happened—and looks over at Henrique as though he’s said something completely insane. And maybe it is. Maybe he’s down crazy for Abel. Maybe there’s no ‘maybe’ about it.

But, surely enough, Abel says, “I love you, too,” and there is no ‘crazy’, either. There is nothing but them, their normal, their happiness, their love. And it is all so, so worth it.

A lot of people were confused about the last time leap at the end of TokRev and here’s my take on it:

So the whole reason Takemitchi was able to timeleap was because Shin transferred his power to Mitchi

And the reason why Naoto was his trigger was because they shared a mutual goal and desire to change specific events in history which in this case, Hinata’s death

But when we got to Bonten arc, Hinata was alive and ready to marry Takemitchi. This was the first timeline that we get to see where Hinata gets to live and have a happy ending

So for Naoto, his mission is complete. His sister gets to live and Kisaki was no longer a threat to her. That’s why Takemitchi no longer get to use him as a trigger

Because even tho Takemitchi isn’t done yet (wanted to save Mikey and make sure he also gets a happy future), Naoto is. They no longer shared the same goal

But Mikey and Takemitchi did. No matter what act Mikey put on and no matter what he says, he did want to be saved. Because even tho he’s willing to sacrifice all that he has for his loved ones, there was still that inner child in him that wanted to be happy, to be able to live a good future surrounded by his friends and family

So during that scene where Mikey jumped off the building and Takemitchi caught him by his hand, a new trigger was made

Takemitchi wanted to save Mikey and Mikey wanted Takemitchi to save him

So jumping to chapter 275-276, (and this all just how I interpreted it, so if you disagree, feel free to say so) when Mikey stabbed Takemitchi with the katana, Mitchi was at death’s door once again. Alive but only barely

And that one panel when Takemitchi was dying on Mikey’s lap, we see Mikey grasped at Takemitchi’s hand

At that moment, it was either Takemitchi’s doing or Takemitchi most likely transferring his powers to Mikey because I’ve read that that was what most people thought.

But regardless on who timeleaped and who was the trigger, I personally don’t think it really matters cause either way, they still share a similar goal

Seeing how everything went down, how no one got what they wanted, how almost everyone they’ve cared for and loved is gone, Mikey and Takemitchi probably only had one wish

They wanted to get a second chance to redo everything, to gain back what they’ve lost, to live the life they’ve always wanted

So with their hands still holding, the power went into effect and they timeleaped, both still having the memories of the other timelines they’ve lived

Ik everyone has different opinions on the ending and that’s okay cause we all have different interpretations feelings and thoughts about it

I personally liked it cause everyone is genuinely happy now, they get to all have a bright and good future together and I no longer have to fervently deny any one of my favorite character’s deaths

I’m not exactly sure how Chifuyu was able to remember bits and pieces of the other timelines he’d lived but I’m happy he remembered

I hc that all of them get like deja vus or dreams of their other lives which is also kinda sad if you think about it seeing how most of them had a lot of unresolved trauma…

Anyway that’s it! I hope Wakui will continue Tokrev in some way like spin offs or extra chapters on what other possible endings there could’ve been
