Time travel AU?

Imagine this:

It's 12 years after the Clone Wars. You're Din Djarin, a relatively new member of the Bounty Hunters Guild. You were raised by deserters of Death Watch, a group calling themselves the Nite Owls. You pick up a job on Hoth.

You find a strange sword hilt of some sort. You pick it up, and all of a sudden you're surrounded by clone troopers and battle droids.

You've gone from 7BBY to 22BBY. The first year of the Clone Wars.

A blaster bolt flies right in front of your face, hitting a B2 droid that was about to attack you. It came from an angle that not even you can make. It's a tricky shot.

You look in the direction of the shot that was fired, and it came from a clone trooper -at least you think it's a clone trooper- with armor painted dark gray and red, a stark contrast to the white and gold of the others.

There's three other troopers wearing those colors.

Your training kicks in.

You take out at least two dozen droids. You're panting heavily and you realize that everyone's staring at you.

A bearded man wearing slightly familiar robes and holding some sort of laser sword approaches you.

"What in the blazes is a Mandalorian doing here?"

now, i was no stranger to mysterious correspondences. as a private eye, i get these all the time. but something about this one seemed different. it seemed like this was gonna run deeper than i thought, beyond just a typical post case. the message was claimin’ that i had become rather well known, which i find rather hard to believe. but even so, i pressed on…

i was bein’ asked to go to some old laboratory on the edge of town, a part of the city i don’t travel to much, and why should i? nothing of note is out there, or so i thought. so, i grabbed my pistol, my hat, and my coat, and i headed out into the rain to begin my journey. i took a cab as far as possible, but the driver wouldn’t go the lab for some reason. something smelled fishy. like the message said, gettin’ inside was easy. just had to kick the door down. it was dark in there, but that wasn’t gonna stop me. you spend enough time with Madame Curator, you become accustomed to the darkness. pistol at the ready, i pressed on…

after lookin’ around for a bit, i eventually found the safe mentioned in the message. crackin’ it open was pretty easy. it was old and rusted, so i could pretty easily force it open. i looked inside to grab the blueprints but… nothing. just some blue toaster.

Mista and Narancia’s dumbass fun times:

- whenever they see a playground they yell “swings!” And run towards the swings, even when they are on a mission.

- Narancia is a sucker for those little bouncy balls that you can get in a gum ball machine, so he always buys a few whenever he sees them and he has like a fuck ton of bouncy balls in his funky little room. One time they both decided to bring a bunch of them with them on a mission and they ended up at a fancy restaurant, and Narancia dropped the bag full of the bouncy balls and they went everywhere.

- One time they asked Bruno if he could unzip both their heads so that they could trade heads with each other for the day. It resulted in them bumping into things a lot. They broke several glass things that day (which isn’t surprising though).

- One week they both decided that it was “spirit week” for their team (although the others weren’t as into it as they were). The themes were sadness Sunday, Mista Monday, twin Tuesday, worm Wednesday, tropical Thursday, Fuck you Friday and snoop dog Saturday.

- Despite the fact that they don’t have a curfew or anything, they (and Trish) will sneak out of their windows at night and walk around town and pretend that they (who are part of the mafia) are doing something super rebellious and fun. And Mista will do a funny little “sneaky walk” right after he sneaks out of his window. Like they won’t even break into any buildings or steal any cars (which they aren’t opposed to doing). They just chill. Sometimes they’ll go stargazing. Narancia always brings snacks.

-if they are both ever sent on a shopping trip together they always push each other around in the shopping cart.

so. i have some Conclusions To Draw. I don't think having Betty around would have actually done much to help Simon stop that downward spiral of his, and I can reasonably infer this because of Farmworld.

in the episode named after Betty, we learn that the reason Simon never saw Betty again after putting on the crown is because she kept through a portal leading a thousand years into the future. (I love Betty she's nuts) Now, in Farmworld, that portal is never made because Simon dies before he can make it.

This has some interesting implications! For one, taking from some dialogue during Finn The Human, Marceline says that Simon stopped the mushroom bomb before it went off, and that they already knew each other by that time. Now, from what I've seen, it's not said outright that in our world those two didn't know each other before the bomb went off, it just doesn't make much sense. And we have seen how badly into the crown's influence Simon was before the bomb exploded. About the same as what Marceline's flashback shows, actually! Maybe a little better.

(yes I am doing weird things with this timeline. hold on.)

So. Because Betty never went into that portal to the future, she either stuck around with Simon (this somehow leading to Simon knowing Marcy before the bomb drops and to Simon sacrificing himself to stop it) or. Leaves on her own? Which seems out of character for her, though I don't have anything solid to support that, just how devoted Betty is to Simon. And vice versa, of course.

Somehow Betty's presence doesn't slow down Simon's change. It just keeps moving forward at what looks to be exactly the same rate as in the world that would become Ooo.

Still down bad for Taako, but it's much weirder on account of all the eyes and also the pillar of fire situation? Meanwhile, Lup, Magnus, and Merle are dealing with having to corral goats in order to make nice with the people who have the Light of Creation.
