I still owe you a comment on ch 3 of There Is No Other Land, but in the meantime I wanted to stop in and say how much I adored the City match. Roy (unwitting and unaware of how Ted and Jamie's talk actually went) going to him for the pep talk instead. Roy unknowingly setting something right when it was still fucked up in his world. Roy's unwavering determination to try.
Then him telling Jamie he loves to watch him play?
That choked me up. Love it. Obsessed with it. Been rotating it in my brain like it's a fruit basket on the counter and I am a cat making it spin (this is a common metaphor for rotating btw)
I'm so absolutely in love wiht this fic- thank you for sharing <3
First of all, you do not owe me anything. If you want (and have the time and capacity) to leave a comment I always love it, but please never feel an obligation (or a rush).
And I mean, this is a comment, too, is it not? (still counts) I love writing Diamond Dog Roy Kent! He tries so hard! And especially in this world where every rug has been pulled out from under him, he needs to make things right, or he's back to the Roy that didn't think he'd survive post-playing career.
Well, it's funny you say that because I STRUGGLED with what to have Roy say to Jamie. I almost left it blank like in the show because I couldn't think of something adequate. And all I could think about was what Roy said to Jamie in your amazing fic, oh god, you're gonna get it (you have not been given love) (which I am linking in case someone reading this has been living under a rock and hasn't read it yet and if you haven't WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?) and thinking how can I come even 1% close to as good as yours, so as usual, thank you for inspiring me! (love that very common rotating metaphor, I will be adding it to my list)
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU I still feel a bit weird it's actually finished and posted and out there in the world, but I love that you love it :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

It is the middle of a Sunday afternoon. You have nothing on, and aren't expecting visitors, deliveries or post.
Unexpectedly, there is a knock at the door.
you are greeted by...... her

Declutter Tumblr
The new layout it a whole mess. Thankfully Xkit can already help with a bunch of this! I'm sure it'll give more options soon.
Vanilla Tumblr:
(I have marked in red what can be removed. The tabs can be set not to stick, so you will really only see them at the top of your dash. Empty box on the left for hidden notifications and shop sparkle, i just didn't have any. I'm EU so no Live for me).

you know what i think is really cool about dungeon meshi? the fact that it really handles the whole 'how our food is made' so gracefully. in this day and age, we've become so disconnected from how our food is produced and distributed that the thought of how our food is obtained brings disgust to many people (and for the big industry farms, it honestly should! but im referring to our existence as omnivores in the food chain). marcille acted ridiculous whenever the thought of killing a monster for food is brought up, but honestly, she's a great model for how many people nowadays react whenever they have to truly think about what they are consuming/are brought to a meat farm.
senshi shows the characters (and us, the audience) about the process of making food in a respectful, genuine way to the creatures he has used to produce nourishing meals. by explaining the nutrition and benefits of each creature, he creates and healthy relationship between the consumers and the meal they have. the show really brings a new dimension of respect for each of our meals. truly the bob ross/marie kondo of cooking.

thinking about how the extra area added on to a pacifist run of undertale, the true lab, is about alphys's past mistakes. how it ends with the story reaffirming that, despite the pain she's caused, the thing that matters is that she has now made the choice to do the right thing. she's still worthy of her friends' love.
thinking about how undertale doesn't expect the player to get a pacifist ending for the first time. how it's more likely than not that the player will kill toriel the first time they battle her, how lots of players don't initially figure out how to end undyne's fight without killing her, etc. what it expects — not even expects, really, but hopes — is that the player, if they care enough, will use their canonically acknowledged power over time to make up for those mistakes.
no matter how many neutral runs a player has done before committing to the pacifist run, the thing that matters to the characters, to the story, is that you've chosen, now, to do the right thing.
compared to alphys, the player honestly gets off lightly, in that you're the only one (other than flowey) who really remembers any harm you might have caused. and any direct guilting the game could have done about it is long past at this point. instead, as undertale often does, it makes its point via parallels: alphys caused harm, and she knows it. she has committed to being better. in doing so, she has unlocked for herself a better ending to her story. and she deserves it. she's forgiven.
those structural narrative parallels are all over undertale, if you know where to look. and that's one of the things that makes it so fuckin' good.

ngl, I'm beginning to take issue with how in conversations about anti-intellectualism almost automatically, the face of girls and women will be slapped on the problem.
