you WILL have to go to his drs appointments with him. mans WILL freak the fuck out for ANY medical procedure, has very serious medical abuse trauma. if he can see how your drs help you he is much more likely to go if he can see that you are benefiting from your providers and that they haven't harmed you

if you're scared of drs he will FULLY stand behind you. probably not that healthy tbh but he gets it

having a special Migraine Protocol for each of you (it's basically just a snack and a drink, blue light filter glasses, a sleep mask with headphones for that special Migraine Playlist)

make your own pain scales and talk through frequency of pain bc when you have constant or near constant pain it fucks up your ability to quantify it so making your own pain scale is helpful (he probably uses shakespeare plays or authors. like a 5 for jason is twilight, because you can see some problems but it's fun and fluffy but when you start looking closer OH NO SO MANY PROBLEMS)

pain meters on a wall near the kitchen so you can know what you're working with

the AK suit is basically a giant brace/mobility aid so you help him figure out how to adapt it for his red hood persona, how to make it lighter and allow for greater ROM

will remind you to do physical therapy

occasionally he'll be in pain and the kind of pain where you feel like you're going insane, so as a distraction he will go online and buy a bunch of weird pain-relieving gadgets and you'll spend a week trying them out

all of his siblings know to come to your place if they get beat tf up because your medicine cabinet is UNreal

hii happy pride month, have a little 'you're a dog (i'm your man)' chapter four snippet as an apology for radio silence <33

“Did I wake you?” Gale asks, glancing at John apologetically, but John looks up from his effort to avoid muddy puddles to shake his head. Gale supposes it’s a silly question; John sleeps like a rock, dead to disturbances made by anything other than his own brain.

“Just my sixth sense,” John says, shrugging and shooting him a small smile. Gale snorts.

“You got a radar for me?” He teases, and John smiles wider, eyes crinkling.

“Built in,” he answers matter–of–factly, raising a hand and making a fist over the center of his chest before dropping it, returning his vigilant gaze to the uneven ground. Gale stares for a moment longer, floored not for the first time by John’s apparent obliviousness to the weight of his sentimentality.

Even knowing John how he does, it’s always unexpected coming from someone who a stranger might assume to be brazen and surface–level; John’s loud mouth and wandering hands do him no favours in that regard.

But Gale does know John, like an extension of himself half the time, and still he manages to render him speechless. The way his heart flutters as the sentiment hangs in the air makes Gale want to reach down his throat and squeeze it until it never beats again.

the whole thing about seiji with the unrequited pining for cats motif is so compelling for so many reasons because it's a metaphor for multiple dynamics in his life (to me!) but one that i've been thinking about more and more is how it could have been extrapolated to his early relationship with yokai as well

(yes it's a stretch but stay with me a moment!)

it's really interesting - and extraordinarily depressing :)))) - to think of what this relationship could have been outside of his identity as a matoba and the predetermined role of not just having to be any old exorcist but the head of the most feared and loathsome ones to yokai, not to mention the legacy of all the broken promises and the bloodshed that came with it.

in special ch 17, we see that little pot yokai and how he is so possessive and protective about it. i had to go back and doublecheck the text because some days i still feel like i made some of it up in my head.

he says, "if there was a yokai who'd make a contract with me, i'd be sure to treat it very well."

and i struggle to read it as sarcastic or facetious though maybe i did once. since natori is our pov character in this chapter and assumes seiji has ulterior motives about everything, it's extremely easy as the reader to buy into this as well. going back to it now, it reads as earnest. it reads like, even then, he knows it is a fantasy at best. there won't be respectable yokai who will voluntarily make contracts with him and, at this point, it's by no fault of his own.

and then: "it listens to what i say, a little bit." (he's making the effort) and "don't tell nanase about this." (it's his little secret.)

interestingly, this is the same chapter where natori makes a contract with urihime with relative ease even if its against urihime's initial wishes. for all the power and legacy that natori lacks in his corner, he still has this one ability and privilege that comes to him rather effortlessly. it stands out even more starkly in contrast with seiji's longing for what he can't have despite his best efforts and intentions.

tl;dr: if there was a cat that came home with him, i'm sure he'd also treat it very well :(
