I like ships with interesting dynamics, where both characters influence each other, teach each other something and simply complement each other (Darklina, Wonderbat). I may not like shipp for several reasons, such as it being incredibly toxic (Brutalia) or boring (Superwonder). Sometimes both (Batcat). But there are ships that I hate fiercely - those that lack the main thing that, in my humble opinion, is needed to build a relationship (any relationship, not just romantic) - acceptance. I believe that if a person cannot accept you for who you are, then you should do yourself a favor and tell that person to go to hell. It cannot be a choice of “should I be myself” or “should I be with someone”. You can’t build a relationship (any kind) on the foundation of denying your true self (yes, I’m talking about you, Mal, go to hell).

Speaking as someone who likes both Talia and Selina -

Your post about Selina is, frankly, a pile of bullshit, and I'd be fine with that (I've got no problem with someone not liking a character I do like), except you put it in the Selina Kyle tag. Someone could just as easily make a similar bad argument tearing down Talia, and I'm guessing you wouldn't be happy about seeing that in her tag. People don't repeat the "don't tag your hate" line as often these days but it's still general courtesy for a reason.

Also, that anon had a point, despite you ridiculing them for it. When you say that a female character who goes back to the earliest days of the franchise and has a rich and complex history "only exists to provide a love interest" and is "basically just a fuckbuddy"... well, you might not actually be a misogynist but you sure sound like one. The only difference between your post and something from an early 2000s dudebro forum thread is the absence of the word "whore". And despite you saying afterwards that "Bruce is a fuckbuddy too!" you never reduced him to just that, nor did you say Bruce is a meaningless and unimportant character because he's "just a fuckbuddy."

(Also, a similar argument could be made in regards to Talia. She was literally created to be a love interest for Bruce, and I have seen people reduce her - incorrectly - to "just Batman's babymama". It's a shit argument, but your reducing Selina to "just a fuckbuddy" is pretty much on the same level.)

I'm not trying to change your mind about Selina - if you don't like her, then that's your call - but I am trying to point out how you were being kind of an asshole.

I like Selina. I don't like her and Bruce together. Like Dick/Babs. I like those two by themselves but not together anymore.

Give me the characters by themselves and I'll be happy to read about them. Don't make try to just make them reduced to being 'fuckbuddies' to each other. It turns people off.

I'm not a Talia and Brutalia stan either and imo she and their relationship as toxic as BatCat and Selina Kyle,but i find her and Batman's relationship and conflicts more interesting.

And if the rape incident between them hadn't happened (It's said to be retconned but still), if Talia hadn't been portrayed as a psychopathic killer and if she hadn't been blindly devoted to her father, I actually admit that Batman and Talia's relationship actually would be better, more beautiful and interesting.

Also, Batman urgently needs to stop bootlicking Catwoman and Joker.

Hello! I just saw your anti-BatCat posts and as someone who hates and despises Catwoman and her relationship with Batman to death, hats off to you.. I would also like to say that I hope Matt Reeves doesn't ruin the Second Batman movie with this ridiculous relationship.

I never cared about this ship at ALL and i get so tired of people acting like selina is Bruce's one true love just because both like to play dress up, it just results in unfair favoritism/OOC and selina wont stop being a criminal even for love, let's be real. It doesn't even fit with the theming Like when you look at the other Trinity ships you have lois who is a reporter and steve trevor who is a soldier/agent, both are heroes in their own way and add normalcy to their respective love interests. Batman needs someone like that

I'm in love with Robert Pattinson's Batman and Bruce Wayne,ngl. The movie was quite slow paced but I loved and enjoyed it regardless. I loved that Batman wasn't treated like a god and he looked more humane.I hope the second movie will be as great as the first movie. I also sincerely hope that the second movie isn't ruined by the BatCat bullshit and they feature more unused villains (I have nothing against the late Heath Ledger and Barry Keoghan, but they need to retire the Joker now, as well as the BatCat bullshit ,both of them were overused and different things should be included now,imo.)

I find Selina more compelling when she isn't forced into a romance with Batman. And I feel like Bruce should have more options than a villain even if it is Selina; he needs someone who is either a hero or a normal person to add some positive balance in his life.

Not only is B*rbara G*rdon frequently held up as an “acceptable” alternative to love interests of color, that was literally the entire point of her character’s inception. Seriously, look it up. The 60s Batman series invented B*tgirl to be a potential love interest for Bruce after they hired a Black actress to play Catwoman. I’m not saying it’s bad to like B*rbara, it’s literally fine, but understand that the way she’s used by the Bat narrative is off-putting to some people and that’s entirely valid. Also, if they make a B*tgirl and Nightwing movie I’m not watching it. Especially after they cancelled Titans and especially if they hire a white girl to play her after cancelling Leslie’s B*tgirl movie. Sometimes too much is just too much.

Once again Tom Taylor writes Dick as the Nice Jokster by making him invalidate Dick's important connections. Dick has been involved in Bruce's love life. He feels with Bruce when Selina breaks up. He notices the romantic tension between them. So much so that he constantly gets used to validate BatCat in fandom and in canon! Dick was also there when Talia lived with Bruce. He was so up in Bruce's love life that he ran to Selina.

What is it about inter-character connections that Taylor hates so much? Why can there be no emotional beats? Why does Dick have to be flatter than a sheet of paper?

It's not "cool" to be involved in your mentor's love life and that's why Dick can't be, but he is. Dick cares so much. How much Dick cares about people is a huge if not the biggest part of his character and sometimes that care brings pain and conflict -- two words Taylor screeches at as if he's a vampire faced with a crucifix.
