my father is an olympic gold medalist in the sport of emotionally tormenting women
#bolo speaks#I've had him blocked on everything for the past two years because I was one of the women he terrorizes even when I was still a girl#but I'm only able to do that because *other* women in my family are on the frontlines dealing with him. which I am keenly aware of.#anyway I got a message from my grandma asking if I was mad at her because he'd been saying that I hated her (untrue and bizarre to boot#like just factually a man I haven't been on speaking terms with since I was seventeen has no leg to stand on whatsoever wrt to what I have#going on emotionally or in my relationships. but he's nothing if not adept at digging into people's worst insecurities so I get why she'd#be bothered)#and he has a new girlfriend now who I haven't met but who he treats the way he treated my mother before they separated#going into drunk rages breaking her things degrading her etc. and *her* family encourages her to ignore it because he's got money#and I don't know. I don't know my dad's girlfriend I've never met her but I am intimately aware of just how horribly#he treats every woman in his life. anyway [NAME] if you're reading this GET OUT ‼️#and the worst part is that he is like. a genuine shameless misogynist like he'd go on these crazy rants about#how women are just vaginas and we're all stupid and hysterical anyway so it doesn't matter if me and mom are scared of him#because we're just dumb women. which has naturally torched his bridges with me and every other woman in our family right.#and his takeaway from that is that he's *right* and being put-upon by all these irrational harpies for no valid reason.#my dad voice: are women scared of me because I'm violent and unpredictable? no. it's those stupid bitches that are wrong.

Am I the asshole for calling my nan to get me when I wasn’t sure about walking home?
This happened about a year ago, but it still eats at me. I have no idea whether I was actually in the wrong, and so far that day has been one of the worst in my life so far (for several reasons). I should also state that I am autistic, so this may give a frame of reference to how I think.
So, to make a long beginning of a story short, I went on the wrong school bus and when I realized it, I got off on a somewhat unfamiliar street. I’d been driven past it before on many, many occasions, but it was still very alien to me. I call my mom, video called her to show her where I was, that sorta stuff. I should mention, I was also walking down the street while on video call, just to show my surroundings. This is like.. a smidge important later I guess.
Now, here’s where it starts to get a bit bad— I ask if she can send my stepdad to come get me, but she says that I should walk home, considering it was kinda short. The thing was… it was around 4 km? I think? Not only was that the farthest distance I’ve ever had to walk to my house, I’ve only ever walked close to that distance on hikes and walks around this one pond, and I didn’t have a book bag to carry then. It wasn’t a distance I was used to walking, plus I was in a spot that was a bit unfamiliar to me. I was a bit put off by the idea and just was like “uh.. ok” before hanging up. I should mention I was overweight (still am) and got overheated easier than most, but I feel like I’d still be at least hesitant to do it if I wasn’t those things.
So, this is the part that’s the reason I’m sending this ask in the first place. I called my nan to pick me up. It was a sound reason to do so in my mind, being a pretty far walking distance from my house in a somewhat unfamiliar area. While I was waiting, my mom found out that I called my nan to pick me up. She seemed just a tad upset at the time, but I brushed it off as something that could be cleared up easily.
Christ upon a Ritz, I was wrong.
She was actually *mad*, and even when I got home I didn’t know how mad. I was told that I shouldn’t do that by both mom and stepdad when I got home, and when we had dinner that evening the atmosphere was so bad I almost cried afterwards, and the whole time I was home I could occasionally hear them talk about what I did.
Wasn’t the worst part tho.
At some point I was called out into the kitchen, and you know what happened? My mother just verbally tore into me. About how I had took advantage of/used my grandma (don’t remember exact wording), how I had lied (unintentionally), a lot of stuff that made me cry very quickly (which she also got mad at me for). I think she may have gotten mad with my grandma too, but I don’t exactly remember. I have a bad memory. Either way, I felt worse than garbage by the time she was done shouting at me. By the way, my stepdad was there the entire time and not once did he even think to go “hey, you’re going a little hard there” or something.
And that’s not all! She even went through my messages to my nan where I was talking to her about how she had gotten mad at me and how bad I felt.
Anyway, I decided to go to bed early that night because I just wanted the day to end. Something else happened later that night tho but it’s not related to the story nor do I want to talk about it.
The aftermath is that even a year later I don’t feel like I can talk to my mom about a lot of things, and I’m kinda scared of making her mad. I think I’ve become a little more doormat-y in just not ever expressing my feelings at certain things my family does.
But… I do wonder if I actually was the asshole. I genuinely meant no harm, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t do any.
So was I the asshole then?
What are these acronyms?

RL Story
Sorry if I post this a second time, but I think there is something wrong with my blog?
Now first, quickly to the quarrel between Nico & me. Nico wants to go back to Italy, he wants to to move to his former club .They offered him a new contract and more money. They want him back! That would mean that we would see even less of each other, which of course did not suit me. But Nico didn’t feel comfortable in his current team, he just never told me so I wouldn’t worry. Anyway, I had the feeling that Nico was hiding something from me, about his life in Italy. I thought maybe he’s leading some kind of double life? Last summer he was away for almost 2 months, in Italy, because of that contract and soccer stuff, while I was with Daniel. But why was he there all summer? And months later, after he and I got back together, he got messages from that one girl Patricia, who was also with him in Italy. Allready at that time, this whole thing seemed strange to me. And now all of a sudden he has to fly back abroad even though he doesn’t have a match there? It felt like he was leaving me and our son home alone, so he could have fun in Italy with his fucking team mates. Bcs Damien called him and it sounded like they were talking about a party or something. That’s why I was mad at him and also disappointed. Really disappointed! So yea, something had to change or that’s it! For me, it was no longer a relationship with him, we hardly saw each other and now that he was home, he wanted to go away again.
The House and the Medium (CW: suicide mention, loss)
When the young woman who is a medium came to us this afternoon, I was totally surprised about her. I was honestly expecting someone who might have looked older? No, but she was very nice and actually only 29 years old. However, my mom, grandma, Ana and I decided to tell the young woman as little as possible, to see if she really knows her job. 😬But that’s also what she asked us to do. She only wanted to know who lives here in the house and how we’re all relate to each other.
Right at the beginning she had contact with two deceased male relatives of us. One of them was very young. This young man was here for my Mom, she said. I immediately got goose bumps. I knew that my Mom’s brother would try to talk us, if we ever did… well, something like this.
It was so sad. Not only my mom cried, but all of us. The medium knew everything! I was totally speechless. My uncle wanted my mom to know that he didn’t do this to himself on purpose. He didn’t want to die, when he took the pills. 😞😭And he apologized to my mom, for what she went through after his death. He said that he was with her, all the time, when that one bad aunt (an evil woman) was mean to her. He also wanted us to know, that he never wanted to scare us or anything, because of these nightmares I had about him. He’s just trying to protect me, but he never tried to scare me. Everything I think I saw or dreamed about him, it wasn’t him!! This was something else. And he also said that certain events must happen, but I have to stay strong, then everything will be fine.
The medium asked him, if he knew what was going on here in this house? And well, she was of the opinion, that there is a negative energy in this house, which has nothing to do with us, with my family. This negative energy has been brought here by someone else, but not on purpose. Nevertheless, only the person who called it or brought it here, can get rid of this negative energy. She believed that someone wanted to curse someone and only when this is done, there will be peace here. But you can drive out negative energies by performing certain cleansing rituals. In this way, some peace and quiet comes back into the house, but this evil energy can come back at any time. We cannot completely get rid of it, only the person who has brought that negative energy here, can do this.
Oh, and that second person she contacted, was my grandma’s nephew. Sandra’s step-dad. He often comes here to my grandma’s house, to remember his old life. He and my Dad were inseparable as kids and even later. They were always together. Those were his best times, he wanted my grandma to know and that he’s well.
He also meant that my grandparents are safe in the house because they are not afraid. But I should not stay here too long. The medium also noticed two children (spirits) in the house. They run around all the time, she said. It was hard for her to follow them. For the two, this is a like game: they love to play hide- &- seek. And they also love to hide things. The two children come here, to play with Ana, she said. They think that Ana is still a child? I I suspected that, those children were the two murdered orphans. The medium was not quite sure what exactly happend to the orphans? But she didn’t believe/think they were buried here on my grandparents’ property. Because the two of them were here voluntarily, they like to come here, which means they’re not tied to this place or anything. She said they seem happy and serene. And they love Ana. Haha!! One of the siblings, the girl, loves little kids and Babies. That’s why she is so happy to be here at the moment. I just thought ok, I think I know who made Lucas laugh. In any case, the two kids are no danger to us. They just like being here. Especially when other kids are also in the house. That’s why my grandparents never really noticed anything, they only come when we kids are or were here. Ana, my Cuz and I. Well and now Lucas. One of the siblings, the girl, has developed some kind of special connection or relationship with Ana. Ana was a baby at that time and she was also the only one of us kids, who wasn’t afraid when something strange happened here. Maybe Ana knew or felt that, when she was a little girl? Only later, the older she got, the more scared she was here in the house, mostly because of me to be honest. 😬 Yk, my demons.
We knew now that the shadow in the dining room’s evil and it’s mainly after me. As long as I stay away from it, I’m safe. I asked the medium why me? She meant….. “you let it happen.” Such evil beings cannot just pick anyone to attach themselves to a person. Some people attract them without knowing it. It’s almost like an invitation. I have to consciously shield myself from this thing, ignore it, but the best way is to stay away from here. Then I’m safe. That’s what she told me.🤷‍♀️😞I’ll just stay away from this place.

Spaghetti And Talk
More of my work | Series Master list
Tumblr media
Harry was all dressed up to go to his girlfriend's graduation party, a white button down shirt tucked into pair of black dress pants, his classis boots. He fixed his hair passing by the mirror just one last time.
His phone dinged which lied face down on the mattress of his double bed, leaving the blazer he picked up his phone to see a text from his girlfriend asking if he have left already. He typed in his quick response, dropping the phone back on his bed picked up his blazer. Slipped his wallet into the back pocket of his pants and headed out.
As soon as he headed out she saw his neighbour fiddling with her door balance a load of things in her hands as she tried to lock the door. Her phone trapped between her ear and her shoulder, a similar graduation gown hung over her arm as she tried to lock her door managing a heap of bags and being scolded at by someone over the call.
"Hey you need any help there?" He asked.
"Oh, thank you, I am fine," she smiled and finally locked the door, catching her phone in her hand she smiled at Harry.
"Busy day at Salon?" He asked, noticing about at least eight paper bags in her hands.
"Oh yes," she nodded, "summer is approaching so it's going to be very crowded."
"I see, have an appointment at your Salon next week," he smiled back.
"Oh see you there then," she seemed to be in hurry
"Yup," he nodded, "you look to be in hurry isn't it almost closing time?"
"I've got to go help with setting up things for tomorrow," she shrugged chuckling, "anyway Sandy will kill me if I am late she was already kind of mad at me on the call as she's got a date tonight, I better get going! You have an amazing night!"
"I will, thank you!" He chuckled seeing her in hurry down the stairs instead of taking the lift, he pressed the button to call up the lift as he wasn't in hurry. The mop of dyed red hair disappeared right in front of him.
The lady who lived in the flat next door was her Grandmother and the girl came to see her almost everyday, it was frequent until the lady passed away. Harry made pretty good friends with the girl over the time though. YN was the name of the girl who rushed in hurry past him, she was the crazy one who dyed her hair a new colour every other month. She said she was going to take care of her Grandmother's hair Salon in London after which made sense of her constantly experimenting with her hair, she also worked there to help her mum. She is very sweet and humble though she come from a rich family, her grandma who owned a very well known Salon in the country.
Harry liked her, in fact the tiny attraction he's had towards her. Perhaps an itty-bitty crush, but he is very well aware of the fact that he in fact have a girlfriend. What he also knew was YN was borderline in love with him but have kept it to herself as she is just too scared to confess, and also that she never crossed his boundaries. YN doesn't know he have a girlfriend who he have been dating for a year, she isn't the type to ruin someone's perfect relationship.
Harry decided to go take a cab to his girlfriend's school in as she had told him that. His cab driver made him late, his girlfriend texting him and spamming his messages with upset texts asking him to hurry like he can just fly the car as if he is Harry Potter and not Harry Styles. But at last he made it to the place.
They both have been in an argument about him not being able to make time for her because of work. He lived alone, he's got rent and bills to pay and of course put food to his own plate as he no longer lived with his mother unlike her. He was definitely pissed and not at a right place but he was ready to put it to aside just for the night, maybe make upto her during his summer break take her home to see his mum but not before sorting out things with her.
"Oh hey Harry," he was greeted by his girlfriend's best friend Ira (Eye-Rah), she was there with her boyfriend.
"Hey how are you?" Harry greeted her with a side hug, "where is Blake?"
"She's in waiting for you, I'll take you to her. Dance is already started," the girl rambled as she walked in to the where the party was going on.
Harry and his girlfriend didn't go to the same college, they met during his last year of college at the pizza place he worked at when he moved to London for college a year ago. She was bold enough to ask him out on a date. Harry was hesitant of, but it worked out and now they've been together for just a month over a year. He has never been so in love with someone before.
He was a little nervous to go the graduation party, in a college he didn't go to. He followed Ira to the gym side of their school where the dance was going on. His heart did a little flutter hearing Blake's favourite song playing, he is sure she had harrassed her DJ friend to play it.
"She was just here," Ira said helping Harry look for his girlfriend.
Harry looked around, until he found the brunette he was looking for. It was like someone just air sealed his lungs and guts in a torturously tight plastic bag.
Blake was dancing with another guy. Well he wouldn't mind she have guy friends. Harry wouldn't feel this hurt if he wasn't touching her. A split second felt like whole ten minutes as he watched that guy's hand run up and down her back and settle dangerously close to her butt. He turned around as Blake turned around to face her back to the guy, he can not see her grinding on him. She was drunk her ass off there already. He noticed Ira was already gone.
Was there a point in going there and confront Blake about it? Probably, and he almost did when he found her kissing that guy.
That was it!
He left the place and decided to walk home though it would take him and hour and his legs would probably fall off from intense cardio. He can probably get over that.
Just as he was on his way he saw YN's car parked right in front of a a different building just about twenty minutes away from his own. She was taking out groceries from the back seat, a pair of beats over her head as she danced and sang along to some Michael Jackson song. For a moment Harry decided to walk past her and let her do her thing, but he really felt like he needed someone to talk to or else he'll be a crying mess back home, all alone.
"Hey YN," he called, causing her to startle and drop the paper bag of her groceries. A loaf of bread wrapped in a plastic bag, a few Tomatoes and onions, a small pack of spaghetti and everything else spilt out.
"Oh no my eggs!" She exclaimed crouching and taking off her flannel shirt she had on as a jacket, to pick up the stuff and gather everything in the shirt and use it as a makeshift bag. "Well not my eggs, my chicken egg!"
"Oh my god, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." Harry chanted as he immediately got to helping her.
"It's okay, it's okay!" She assured him, "don't step on the tomatoes..."
It was too late he accidentally stepped on two of her tomatoes.
"God!" She sighed sitting down on the pavement not bothering anymore to collect her veggies.
"Hey, I'm so, so, so sorry! I really didn't mean to scare you like that, I'll, I'll pay you back don't worry about that." He assured her.
"No, no, it's okay, you don't have to," she shook her head, "they're all messed up anyway," the only thing that was left intact was one Tomato, luckily all her onions and the bread loaf in it's plastic bag.
"You've still got one Tomato left," Harry picked it up. He couldn't help but smile at her defeated pout.
"Yeah that's not enough to make spaghetti, I was craving some spaghetti. I finally found like the easiest way to make it on YouTube, but..." She sighed, "anyway, you alright? You look a bit upset if I'm not assuming."
"I guess I'm not okay really, I was just headed home when I saw you wanted to say Hi," he looked a little embarrassed, the flush on his face making him look like a tomato. The irony have to be; chefs kiss!
Pun intended!
"You want to go on a ride? We can get spaghetti!" YN offered.
"I don't want to bother, I already bothered you enough." He helped her pick up the trash and clean up the pavement the best they both could by picking up the somewhat destroyed yet intact tomatoes and throw them in the bin a little down the street.
"Come on, I'm offering," she waved off his excuse.
"You sure?" He asked.
"Yeah and you can rant about whatever to me, I don't mind I'm all here for the tea," she said with the cheeky smile, wiggling her eyebrows up and down.
"You're amazing," Harry giggled getting into her car with her.
"So what happened?" She asked, "you looked very happy when we met earlier."
"Oh, when you were at your grandma's flat?" He asked.
"Yeah," she nodded, "I was there to take care of a few things before it goes up for rent."
"You're putting it up for rent?"
"Yep! My grandma actually wanted to move with me to the pent house of hers I live in but that never happened so the tenant was her client; just so you know, I don't want you think I'm going to profit off of my dead grandma's property." She explained.
"I would never judge you," he assured her. Though he can kinda tell that she has been asked about it a lot, or at least that's what's he thinks is the reason behind her explaination.
"So what happened to you my friend that you look like a day old wrinkly carrot?" She asked, he couldn't help but chuckle at the choice of her words.
"Is it really okay if I just rant?" He was very surprised that someone wanted to hear him talk.
"Sure why not!" She shrugged keeping her eyes on the road as she drove, "I mean only if you want to though, if you don't want to or you feel uncomfortable. I can rant about my day if you want instead."
He knows that she talks alot and she is a very interesting person to be around, Harry had figured a long time ago.
"I, I actually have a question if you don't mind, it is kind of personal you can not answer it. I'm just... A little curious." He looked down at his fiddling thumbs in his lap.
"Shoot!" She agreed.
"Have you ever been through a break up?" He asked. "I'm sorry if it's too personal."
"Oh it's totally fine. I went through my first breakup when I was fifteen I guess, I have been dating this guy from my class for about a year. It was very bad, I was a being a little dramatic bitch that I am. But it was horrible!" She shared, punctuating her rant with her giggles.
"Why did you break up with him?"
"Oh he was moving to LA with his mother after she got divorced. The worse part was like my little fifteen year old ass thought we going to get married, move to Bahamas and like have a cricket team together." She laughed at her old self, "and even worse patt about was that, that little fucker didn't even tried to tell me that he moved to LA I found out from his drunk dad."
"Oh that's bad," Harry said. Be didn't wanted to smile, she was sharing a miserable story but he couldn't help it by the way she went on with her story telling.
"Yeah, and the second time my girlfriend slept with my best friend in my own house, it happened like four months ago. It was two shots with one arrow, lost my best friend and kicked that bitch out of my life!" She shared another story.
"Oh now that's horrible," he frowned. Now he didn't understood how she moved on so fast or how she feels so comfortable with sharing her experience so casually.
"Yeah, I know," she nodded, "but you can talk to me whatever you want to I'm here to listen to. That's all I do at work."
"Yeah? People rant to you about anything at the hair salon?" He chuckled.
"Hell yeah, that's like my favourite part of the job," she exclaimed, "I have heard the worse, the worse, stories in only two years of my training and hair school."
"That sounds fun though," he exclaimed.
"It is fun!" She nodded in agreement. "And what happened to you?"
"Caught my girlfriend cheating," he blurt out.
Now YN felt like her heart dropped to her abdominal cavity real hard. He have a girlfriend? Well, he caught her cheating on him. But does that really do anything to make things better? She liked him since the she have met him. But he is going through the worse part of it, she sighed and pushed what she was felt in that moment in the very back burner.
"I'm sorry," YN said. She had stopped at a red light so she could turn to look at him.
"Yeah, we have been dating for a year now, I really did not expected to see that. It just really made upset I guess," he nodded, "light's green."
"Oh," she started driving again, "I mean it is very understandable why you're upset. Can I ask you if you talked to her or not?"
"About this?" He scoffed, "no, I am so fucking mad right now I just don't know how to process it. I've never been cheated on before nor I have been through a break up."
"I can say I understand, really, I've been through similar situation. But you'll find a way to understand your feelings." She assured him, "I'm sorry I'm not very good at giving relationship advices. But I can tell you that you need to get a closure from her or that's really going to fuck you up bad. And I mean it."
"It's fine, I'll talk to her when I figure out how to process how I'm feeling right now." He nodded, "before I wanted to cry but I don't know what happened now."
"Yeah, but remember; always put yourself first no matter what, that's what my Nani used to say to me you know," YN said, "at the end the day there are only going be handful of people who really care about you. And it's okay, but you need to put yourself first and do what feels right for you."
"That's a very good advice," Harry nodded, "that's what my mum says to me sometimes. Just that I've never been through a break up."
"It's a rollercoaster ride, isn't it?" She said and he just nodded.
YN had parked in front of a nice looking restaurant which he reckons have spaghetti at this time. They'd both gotten a table and she ordered herself a spaghetti, Harry went for the same as he couldn't think of anything right off his head to order. It was very quick, their food was served within minutes. Mainly because there were hardly ten people in the diner.
"Enjoy!" The man who served their food patted YN's head and left. Harry was confused.
"Oh that's my uncle by the way, he owns this restaurant." She explained, Harry nodded understanding what just happened.
"If you don't mind me asking how are you doing after you know..." Harry stopped his question halfway not wanting to push her boundaries. She seemed bery close to her grandma and he didn't wanted to upset her.
"I'm doing good, thank you." She said, "it just feels very empty and erie without her now. But for most of the part I feel fine."
"I'm sorry, but you can talk to me if you want anything okay?" He offered.
"Looks like we've become besties now, haven't we?" She winked.
"You can say that," he shrugged simply.
"So bestie, tell me about your girlfriend," she prompted.
"I dunno, I wanted to take her home to meet my mum this summer." He shared.
"Wait, you've been dating for a year and you haven't yet taken her to see you mum?" YN looked rather surprised that he expected.
"Yeah, I mean she dodged my suggestion for Christmas when we've been dating for about six months. My mum came to see me in London so it wouldn't be weird for her parents to send her with me all the way to Manchester." Harry explained, "she said she was going to Paris with her family but she never went. And this time around we've been arguing a lot so I really couldn't talk about it."
"Do you think she was serious about seeing your mum?" She asked.
"Yeah, she took me to meet her parents who were rather rude might I add." He explained taking a sip from his Coke.
"Hmm," she sighed as if she is analysing some data in her head, "you missed a red flag there my friend."
"Really?"
"Hell yeah, she didn't wanted to meet your parents." She nodded, "I mean I'm still going to tell you to talk to her 'cause I'm as stupid as you are. And I really suck at giving relationship advice."
"Did you just called me stupid?" He gasped dramatically, YN was quick to pick up on his teasing and just shrugged simply.
"I called myself stupid too," she added.
"That's understandable," he agreed. She gasped, crumpled up a tissue and threw it at him making him fall into fit of laughs.
.....................................................................
Well, Harry thought he was going to cry tonight but he didn't. Not exactly as he expected, like sobbing and throwing a fit. He did cried, it felt nice to get out what he was feeling.
It wasn't until a week later on Sunday he had a knock on his door. His was sister visiting him for a week, as he was expecting her back from meeting her friends so they can go out for dinner but he opened the door to find Blake there.
"What are you doing here?" He asked.
"I, I, uhhh... I wanted to talk."
"What is it?" He asked.
"I, I, uhhh... I am really sorry," Blake sighed, "for, for..."
"For?" He wanted her to say it.
"Basically cheating on you, I, I didn't mean to. I was, I was drunk and I... I don't know, I am really sorry," she stuttered.
"Basically? Yeah, I saw you making out with the guy you told me not to fucking worry about," he started, "now I'm sorry we're done here Blake."
"Are you, are you breaking up with me? No!" Her tone was defensive.
"Yes, I don't want this to go any further, okay?" He was trying to be as calm as he could be, "I can't trust you anymore."
"Don't do this Harry, please?" She looked at him, tears glazing her pretty big blue eyes.
"Just leave Blake, please," he sighed.
"Okay, okay, but can we please talk again?" She asked.
"I don't know, just leave for now," it felt very hard for him to push her away like that. It would sound a tad bit dramatic but it felt like someone was ripping out his heart from his chest. He is just putting himself first here, that's what his sister told him as well.
"We have not broken up Harry," was the last thing he heard from her before he shut the door.
.....................................................................
"Harry I need you sit still," YN scolded him as she tried to give him a proper hair cut.
Yeah, like he said he's got an appointment at her Salon he showed up.
"Dude come on," she whined, watching him dodge her. "Where K keep the clippers now?"
"No, no, no, I'm sorry I'll sit still," he stopped not wanting her to shave his head off.
They both had to stop their playing around like little kids hearing Sandh clearing her throat, "Keep it professional here, will you now?" That was directed to YN to which she nodded.
"Is she always like this?" Harry asked.
"Shush!" YN scolded him.
After his hair cut was done and he's followed her to the cash counter to pay. Sandy was stood there with her suspicious eyes lurking over them both. Sandy's been like YN's second guardian and the woman is very protective of her.
"Hey do you wanna go somewhere?" He asked, in whispered tone.
"I can't, I just started my shift." She whispered back.
"What the fuc— you own this place!" He whispered exclaimed.
"I can't, I can't, I—"
"I will wait, ten minutes. Parking lot behind the mall." He took his card back and annouced as he walked out of the store.
"What was he doing here?" One of the new girl at the Salon asked.
"He's our client, Ira now go do your work before Sandy fires you," YN groaned and walked away to go find the Manager.
"I know, I heard it all," Sandy interrupted YN even before she could say anything, "do you want to go?"
"Please?" She gave her sad puppy dog eyes.
"Okay fine go," Sandy rolled her eyes.
"I love you," YN cooed and hugged Sandy giving her a kiss on the cheek. "You look very fucking scrumptious in that dress, I'd steal you but your husband might kill me for that!" YN blee her one last kiss before she ran to the back room to get out of her apron.
......................................................................
"How did you get away from your Karen boss?" He asked.
"Aye, don't talk about her like that huh! I'ma break you face if you do so," she warned him. "Where do you wanna go?"
"I don't know," he shrugged.
"Dude," she sighed, "I'm going back to work!"
"Oh come on, I really don't know where to go!" He whined, "and I'm bored. I've got no friends!"
"You've got friends. In every corner of London I bet," she pointed out, "wanna go to the arcade?"
"That sounds fun!" He already unlocked his car.
"'cause it is fun!" She rolled her eyes jokingly.
......................................................................
"Harry stop stealing my balls!" YN pushed him away as they both raced on the basketball game seeing who can make more points. He was stealing balls from her side, but she was way ahead of her game.
"I won, I WON!" She celebrated, "someone was saying he's a pro in basketball!"
"Yeah, yeah what ever!" He rolled his eyes, "you can't beat in this though," he challenged her to the arm wrestling.
"Okay, you can go first," she accepted the challenge.
Harry got through four rounds, on fifth he lost. It was intense when YN was on her fifth around and it was head on competition between her and the robot wrestler.
"It's okay YN, you can give up," he tried to distract her.
"Shut. Up!" She groaned and actually won the round. "Did I told you I grew up in a very fucked boarding school? Better luck next time lad!" She patted his shoulder and collect her reward tickets she was going to spend on to buy the Pikachu stuffed toy at the gift store.
It was a fun day at arcade!

Atsumu dating Kita's younger sister (their manager). That's it. That's the request. Hope you like this prompt 🤞😅
Dating your brothers teammate (Atsumu)

ATSUMU
You and Atsumu started dating a month after Kita introduced you in your first year
You’re now in your second year and still going strong
However, no ones knows about your relationship since Atsumu said you being the manager and him being the setter it will affect the team dynamic?
You start the day off, seeing a message from your boyfriend,
‘Tsumu: Mornning babe, can’t wait to see you today!
You don’t respond, you are Atsumu have been at odds for the past few weeks as you feel like you guys should make your relationship public. Not even public per se, but you definitely feel it shouldn’t be hidden away especially with it being nearly two years of you being together.
Of course, Atsumu disagreed. He felt like at this moment you and him revealing your relationship to the team will just mess up the ‘dynamics’ or whatever that’s supposed to mean.
You get ready for school eating the breakfast your grandma made you and conversing with her and Kita before you both headed off to school together meeting Aran on the way.
You had an early morning practice and you didn’t mind it. To be honest, you love being around the team you were all a little family, you having a good relationship with all the guys.
This morning, the guys were all practicing different sorts of skills Kita was helping some of the gives with dives and receives and the rest doing other things. You were helping Osamu, Suna and Atsumu with there serves.
Regardless of your public or private relationship status with Atsumu, you the twins and Suna were all good friends. You did have a slight inclination that Osamu and Suna knew of the relationship with you and Suna but just didn’t bring it up.
At the end of practice, the usual fan club was there waiting for the twins and the other guys to flirt and talk with them. As you are their manager, you did get some slight hate and jealousy from the other girls in your year but you didn’t pay no mind to it.
When leaving practice, Atsumu (who usually walks with you to your class) gets stopped by a girl who seems to have something important to say so you politely step to the side (still in ear shot though.)
“Miya-san” she said a bit nervous as her finger were shaking “I have this letter I would like for you to read.”
He took the letter and said “Thank you, and you can just call me Atsumu” he smile at her.
“Thank you Atsumu, I hope to hear a response to you soon” she says about to walk away “Also, just to clarify you are single right?”
“Yes yes of course” he assures quickly making you annoyed “Why did you ask?”
“I assumed you were dating your manager, you seem pretty close”
“Oh her” he laughs and you already start to walk to your lesson leaving him behind “we’re just friends”
This makes the girl smile as she leaves, Atsumu turns to where you were standing shocked that you were completely vanished. He did think back to the conversation you had a week ago about your relationship status which did make him kind of sad for you since he did understand your reasoning he just wanted to you atleast wait it out till nationals is done.
He finds you at lunch, and to him it seems you don’t have a problem with him at all as you were being your usual smiley self interacting with him and all of your friends. So he assumed everything was fine (which it wasn’t of course.)
The next day at practice, when it ended the same girl came back again this time with friends and instead of approaching Atsumu they decided to approach you.
“Hi you’re the manager right?” one of them asks.
“Yup I have been for the past couple years.” you say
“Oh and you’re definitely not dating any of the guys on the team right?”
“I don’t see why it’s any of your business, but no i’m not.” it pained you to say this but you did agree with Atsumu to say you weren’t dating to people and as much as it pained you to say this you couldn’t break your ‘agreement.’
Once the girls leave, you start to softly cry because you don’t want to have to hide your relationship anymore. Atsumu enters the corridor and sees you upset and rushes towards you, “Hey babe what’s wrong with you?” he asks
“Nothing ‘tsumu just go back to practice” you murmur
“No i’m not going until you tell me whats wrong?”
“it’s just that girl that confessed to you yesterday and her friends approached me about if I was dating anyone and i-”
“what did you say, he told them no right?” he interrupts
“Is that all you care about? Wether I keep our relationship secret or not ..” you say slightly raising your voice
“Well I would appreciate if you don’t go round telling the world that you’re dating me gosh Y/N” he shouts a bit
“I’m not even fucking doing that, I havent told a soul and that’s all because of YOU”
You’re screaming match has alerted the team (who you didn’t notice) and they all stood around you watching before Kita steps in “Y/N are you okay??”
“yeah i’m fine bro” you say preparing to leave with tears still in your eyes “I just got into an argument with a friend”
Before you leave the corridor you look back at Atsumu and catch all the guys attention when you say “Also Atsumu, happy anniversay ‘babe’”
“I KNEW IT!” shouts Osamu but Suna nudges him telling him to ‘read the room.’ Kita slowly approaches Atsumu and punches him in the face “I don’t care what you did but you made my sister cry so you better go fix it you dick”
Atsumu nodded and clutched his face, “Also I think it was pretty evident that you guys were dating.”
“Wait they were dating?” said Aran
You were in your room, scrolling through old pictures of you and Atsumu and looking at the presents he was going to give him for your anniversary still crying. You hear a knock on your door “Granny, I’m not hungry right now” you shout. But the door opens anyways “Granny I said I wasn-” you pause when you see a bruised Atsumu ‘Kita’ you think making yourself smile at the thought of your brother coming to your defence.
“Y/N, i’m sorry baby for trying to hide our relationship and not seeing how wrong it was until it was knocked into me... literally” he says cautiously sitting on your bed “ I’ve always wanted to be able to show off to the world but I just couldn’t cause I thought Kita would be mad and I genuinely thought it would mess up the team dynamic, however I’d rather have Kita be mad at me and the team loosing nationals if it meant getting to date you”
His words make you swoon and to add on to your fawning he whips out a wrapped up box giving it to you. When you open it, you see it’s a necklace with both your initials on it “ Happy anniversay babe, this has been one of the best years of my life.”
You silently hand him your presents, murmuring a quiet “Happy anniversary.” After seeing your presents, he gives you a big deep hug whispering mutiple thank yous and compliments into your neck making you smile.
“So does this mean we’re in a public relationship? right?” you ask making sure you were on the same page.
“Of course!” he exclaims “Also check your phone”
You look down at your phone seeing a bunch of notifications all tagging you in one post that was from Atsumu on instagram. It was 8 pictures of him and you and a caption that read *insert long romantic sappy paragraph that I’m too lazy too write since its 3 am :3*
Your heart was overwhelmed with love for Atsumu, you spent the rest of your night cuddling and watching movies and before you went to sleep you told him you loved him.
Waking up the next morning, you thought it was all a dream to be honest. Because there was no way that Atsumu did all that right? You go downstairs and are shocked at the sight you see, Atsumu and Kita both sitting down eating breakfast together “What are you doing with my boyfr-” you stop yourself from finishing that sentence,
“Its okay Y/N you can say boyfriend, I have given your boyfriend the talk I just had to make sure that he knows that if he was ever to lay a finger on you that he would definitely get a bi-”
“Ughh nii-chan you’re being so embarrasing” you say pulling Atsumu back upstairs hearing Kita’s laughter in the backround.
You and Atsumu, stay together and it wasn’t much of a suprise when your relationship was public to the rest of the school and that girl that wanted Atsumu she ended up with Osamu anyways (it does makes sense since they do have the same face afterall.) Kita enjoys his days embarassing the both of you whenever you’re at your house. But you don’t care since you can finally show off to the world how great your boyfriend is.
Authors Notes: I don’t know if you wanted it to have angst in it but I hope you enjoy? Might make this a series so if you want anymore characters Request them and I’ll write for them too

Oohh please do some HCs about Amy and Karen and their relationship!!
this became long. I love Mom Karen a lot, even though she doesn't show up much in canon, and I think she and Jake and Amy have a great relationship ❤️
- Amy still wants to impress her so bad in the beginning, she always thinks she's meeting with a proper 'grown-up' and needs to act accordingly, especially since that grown-up is her boyfriend's mom! The awkward possibilities!
- She knows how much Jake loves his mom, what if she tells him to break up with her because she picked the wrong dish to bring to her brunch invitation, oh no, Jake, we need to turn around, I need to buy like 50 bagels from that deli you said she likes-
- (Ames my mom loves you almost as much as I do, you do not need to bribe her with bagels anymore. But are you SURE she likes egg salad- YES and even if she doesn't I will eat it all before she can complain okay now please calm down)
- she does calm down after a while, especially when she and Jake settle into their relationship and she begins to feel like this is definitely it, and Karen seems to agree. She treats Amy like part of her tiny family already, always includes her in holiday cards and gift exchanges and event invitations, and Amy begins to see all the weird little eccentricities in her as something she also knows from Jake, and wonders who's influenced who more. Especially when he complains about another 'crazy' thing his mom read online and immediately followed, all she can do is laugh and ask him how that 'amazing never ending chocolate trick' ended for him last month.
- when Jake has to go to Florida, Amy asks to be the one to deliver the news to Karen - although there's not much news she can give, considering no one is allowed to really know anything about the situation. It basically boils down to "He had to leave for his own protection because of a criminal", and Karen understands very well what that means, and maybe she cries a bit while they hug, and maybe Amy does too, thinking about how she at least got to say goodbye to him. He asked her to take care of his mom, (he asked her to take care of a lot, but she knows the rankings of importance without him needing to explain), and that's what she's gonna do. So she visits a lot, once a week at least, for tea or dinner or just to spend some time with her.
- "I'm glad he's not alone", Karen says on one of those dates, "at least he's got Captain Dad with him." And Amy laughs and nods.
- "Wherever he is", she says another time, "he's thinking of you, Amy. A mom knows these things. He's thinking of you and waiting to be with you again." "I'm waiting too, Karen. I would never do anything else."
- And, during one of the days where it hits them the worst and they cry together again: "He's coming back. He always- I know it's not the same, but- he dissappeared a lot when he was younger. When he felt uncomfortable or angry or- but he always came back. And he's coming back this time, too."
- the look on Karen's face as she opens to the door to Jake and not Amy for their next dinner date, with Amy a few feet behind him, is one she'll probably never forget
- Dinner once a week at Mama Peralta's is a given, after that. Sometimes Amy goes over earlier, too, to learn the dishes Jake likes the most, but also just to chat with Karen alone.
- the meetings turn into a sadder note again when Jake goes to prison. Actually, the first week after he's gone, Amy breaks down crying after dinner because she can't drive home alone, she can't sleep in that empty bed for one more night or she'll go mad. So Karen sets up her guestroom for her, and Amy spends an entire week there, being cared for by a mom as if she's 5 again. It's the only time during Jake's prison sentence that she feels at all safe.
- She takes Karen along for a visiting day too, once, and it's the only one where she's willing to share the hugging/touching time allowed. Karen makes a joke about his awful beard and Jake laughs the fake laugh he gives Charles as well. Amy's glad they don't have to plan another trip to visit, because Jake gets home after that.
- Karen is the first one to receive that engagement photo from Jake's phone, because she's also the one who gave him that ring from his Nana in the first place - long before he went to prison. She immediately calls Amy and not him to congratulate them, and Jake is only a little bit put out by the fact that his mom actually seems to prefer his fiancée by now.
- they'd agreed not to tell anyone they were trying for a baby, especially not when it became so tense and stressful, but Jake admits after a while that he's told his mom. She's his sounding board apart from Amy, and he can't keep that kind of secret from her anyway. Amy's just glad Karen decided to keep her distance about it, and not send her info about some herbal 'help' or whatever her own mom is constantly clogging her instagram messages with, without even knowing they're trying.
- they come over for Mama Peralta Dinner with the sonogram folded into Jake's pocket, but he can't help himself and makes a joke about having to rename it to Grandma Peralta Dinner soon before they can show it, and Karen just about screams before jumping into Jake's arms and then hugging Amy much more carefully
- (she does share a lot of remedies and tips during her pregnancy, just like Camila does, and half of them actually help)
- after things have finally settled in the hospital where they brought Amy and Mac after the blackout, Jake calls his mom and greets her with 'Heyy, grandma' and she's never rushed to any hospital this fast, not even when Jake was 5 and broke his wrist
- Karen turns babysitter no 1 immediately, and absolutely sticks to the ground rules Jake+Amy have put down. She might ask for a little leeway when it comes to the creative side of her grandson, and Mac gets to colour and craft things at her place he'd never be allowed to do at home, but that's okay.

REPOST FROM MY NON WRITING BLOG title: breakdown of break through || Kageyama Tobio x fem!Reader a/n: again, a repost from my real old blog I just got tired of going back onto it to find this when I wanna comfort binge it. So I’m just posting it here for easy access for myself word count: 3k tags: fluff, friends to lovers ish trope, timeskip!Kageyama, adults enjoying two (2) beers with a meal, unedited character(s): Kageyama Tobio (hq) synopsis: Tobio arranged for you to come pick him up when he came back for a visit. His plane was early. You were on time. Suddenly you’re eating a meal with his family like your back in high school all over again. This time though he finds the words he couldn’t before.
Tumblr media
Through break down or black out that name lit up on your phone like none other.
Tobio.
Now though you were getting a slough of texts. Phone humming in your hand. Giving you no time to look at the messages and look for the black haired man in the crowded airport. Once more you glanced up at the gate number knowing it was the right one he told you. Where was he then?
Fed up finally you skip past all the texts just to call him. Only a single ring on the other end and you spoke before he had a chance, "Where are you?"
"What?"
"Where are you?" You repeat into the phone a little sharper than intended, "I'm at the gate I thought you were going to get off?"
"I'm already off, I'm at my place I thought-"
"Oh my god when did you land then?!" Huffing you were about to hang up and find the incriminating texts that said when his flight got in. Of course you didn't because Tobio stopped you.
"I told you when I left things were early so I'd be landing about two hours before and we didn't have a layover." Tobio's voice pauses on the other end as you groan loudly into the phone speaker to let him know how displeased you were. "Wait, where are you?"
"I'm at the terminal you idiot!" With little care for anyone looking at you like the mad woman screaming into your phone that you were, "Where are you already?!"
"My place I told you! Are you going to come over or not?!"
"W-What?" You stop a second like you didn't hear him, "What?"
"I said are you coming over? I thought we were going to hang out."
Not what was agreed on. In fact you intended to pick him up and the idea of hang out was maybe you'd grab a bite to eat then that be it. You hadn't seen one another in, oh well, it had to be two almost three years now. Sure you texted each other almost every day. With regular facetime happening weekly. The idea of seeing each other face to face though. It left your stomach tight and a bundle of nerves a little less than understandable. He was a big shot volleyball player now. Being friends with a celebrity felt weirder to you than you cared to admit. You thought if maybe just a lunch and then he could go see the guys things would be alright. Instead now he was asking you to come hang out at his place all of a sudden.
"What?" You echo yourself for a third time like he asked.
"I told you to come over! I thought that's what we were gonna do!"
You swallow the lump in your throat as you grip your phone tighter, "Wait- What about the others and Shoyo I just thought-"
"Just come over already."
Undeniable click on the other end when he hung up. No second to dispute it in the moment. You wanted to hang out. You really did. But something ate you. Nerves. Maybe this was a bad idea. What you had going was perfect and seeing each other for the first time in years seemed like you were going to ruin something. Unsure what there was to ruin. You two were friends. This white knuckled grip on your phone seemed silly. But why wasn't it going away?
Shaking the nerves out like you could simply whisk them away. You pocketed your phone ready to still yell at him for mixing up such a simple schedule and making you go to the airport like an idiot.
Last time you recalled being at Tobio's place was for a going away party. Of course his own because his mother threw it and all of the volleyball team and tagalongs were included. It was fun last time, with everyone that is. Yachi and Kiyoko to be with, you really enjoyed yourself the last time you were here. But now you wondered if you could have just as much fun without all your friends around to buffer you.
One might mock the twenty something year old for keeping his stuff at home. Repeatedly Tobio asked why would he move when most his time was spent in Germany. He came home to see family and friends anyways. Keeping his things there only made more sense.
Finding yourself wrapping your knuckles on the Kageyama's door after you finally made it to where he was and not the airport. It took but one wrap to be greeted by the setter in a heartbeat.
"Tobio!" Your eyes widen, having to actually tip your head back to look at him. Was he this tall last time you saw him, "Your- Where is-"
"My mom's out with my sister. You missed that cry fest already," His blue eyes roll to the back of his head only for a second. Followed by a cheeky smile. An actual smile crossing his lips as he looks down at you for a moment. Perhaps realizing he really was looking down at you, "It's uh..."
"Been a while?" You feel the tips of your ears getting warm.
This was stupid. Utterly insane.
You saw him almost every week on the screen of your phone. Why was this so much different? Why couldn't there be someone else here to buffer this for you.
"Two and a half years since you came and saw me in Germany," Tobio palmed the back of his head with that crooked smile on his face wearing a hole in your heart.
You look him up and down, still in athletic gear like it was all he owned. Actually that was probably true. He was shit at figuring what to wear so Tobio just opted for brand loyalty of anyone who gave him free stuff. Those athletic shorts a testament to that fact considering you at least tried to wear something nice and clean to pick him up at the airport he decided to leave from.
"What the hell is with you not telling me you left early!?" Snapped back to the indignance you felt at the airport and the drive over, you cross your arms with a peeved look.
"That's not true!" He dug into his pocket for his phone. Quick to shove it in your face of your text conversation last night. Tobio pointing out the text he explained poorly as an early flight. You couldn't focus in the seconds following when the fresh scent of his familiar deodorant hit you.
It'd been so long. You'd forgotten how much you loved the way he smelled even when you were in school together. To think it still made your chest as tight as it did back when you were teenagers. Almost enough to make you not notice your name in his phone.
There, tacked onto the end your name was a heart. A double take in order. That was until Tobio realized you weren't looking at his text. And right away he yanked his phone away from your view. Cheeks dusted with red as he fidgeted and tried to push his hair back off his face to no avail. Absorbed too much in his phone you hadn't realized his hair was wet as well. Explaining why you could smell his familiar deodorant so easily. He'd obviously taken a shower.
"You took a shower like I haven't seen drenched in sweat?" You break the forming ice between the two of you in an attempt to not let it get any worse. Even if your ears feel as hot as the sun. Your attempt seems to ease something between the two of you and Tobio let a bit of a smile soften on his features.
"You gonna stand out there like an idiot?" He looked at you point blank.
"You gonna ask me to come in like a decent host?" You shoot back.
Maybe you didn't need the buffer of everyone else to hang out with your friend.
Explaining his mom and sister had gone to go get things for dinner as well as pick his grandma up. The offer to stay for a home cooked meal was extended to you quickly. Apprehensive to accept seeing as things were going well now but maybe not so much later. You didn't want to overstay your welcome. Tobio really wasn't going to take no for an answer. Even repeating that dinner was going to be served and it was one of your favorite concoctions Mrs. Kageyama made. Unsure of the last time you had a home cooked meal like that. You begrudgingly accept because your stomach really did speak up for you.
First met with the fear of how long you and Tobio might be alone together. It thankfully wasn't enough time for you to stick your foot in your mouth. Both his sister and mom showed up with grandma Kageyama in tow. All three women more than excited to see you since it'd been a few months since you stopped by. Tobio's mom showering you in affection as her 'good' child seeing as you came to visit far more than her son. A cranky Tobio argued that he lived all the way in Germany there was just no 'coming over' to visit. He hardly won that argument.
Much like the times in high school when you came over. Mrs. Kageyama asked if you would help with dinner. Extending an extra set of hands to meal prep meant you did find a bit of a buffer from being left alone with Tobio for too long. Ironically though instead of spending his time on his phone or something capturing his attention on the tv. Tobio was in the kitchen with the rest of the family helping with what little prep there was to spare between the four of you.
He really was shit at cooking but it was cute to watch the world renowned setter get scolded by his mom even at this age. Each time you giggled he'd shoot you a glare that only lasted a few seconds. Unable to hold it as his cheeks would gain a dusting of pink and he'd just huff and go back to doing it better like his mom told him to.
This felt good. This felt like home. It had been a while since you felt like this.
"And dinner is done!" Mrs. Kageyama was happy to announce the mini feast. More than you ever thought was needed for a dinner. You suspected maybe her son being home had something to do with it. Though with how much she made you expected some more visitors. That was dashed though when you realized he still ate like a horse. Snickering you won't deny Mrs. Kageyama knew what she was doing in the kitchen. Everything you eat feels like a warm hug. And that wasn't just the beer you had with dinner speaking for you. This really felt amazing.
"Hey," Tobio stood above you once he'd clear the table after his mom and sister said they'd be back after dropping grandma Kageyama off, "You want another?"
A second you realize he's looking down at the empty beer in front of you, "Um-"
"I was gonna have another anyways," Tobio gives you an answer before you can have a chance.
Matching cans he brings you one but mentions he's going to go sit outside for a bit. Wondering if you'd like to come with. Stuffed with dinner you were pretty sure you could move if you forced yourself to. So you find yourself trailing him to the back patio ever so familiar to you.
Outside looks so much different than you remember. No more volleyball net. The sets of poles gone. No random volleyballs left out or scattered everywhere. You'd seen this yard a million times since graduation but for some reason it felt weird sitting out there with the volleyball fanatic himself and not a single volleyball in his grasp.
The crack of his beer reminds you of the one in your grasp. Following suit you open your own and take a sip before setting it on the table next to his. Alone together but you could do this.
"...how long you planning on staying?" Out of everything, he hadn't told you how long his little vacation was going to last this time.
"I don't know." A very unlike him answer. You turned to him just to see Tobio looking out at the yard in front of the both of you with a glazed over look.
"What about the team? Did everyone come back with you too?" Figuring everyone was on break then, Kōrai, Wakatoshi and Fukurō must have come back to visit family too since they weren't a bother in the last video call you had together.
"I don't know." Again with the vacant look. Tobio was earning a scowl from you now. He only had a single beer with dinner too so he had no excuse to be this spacy. Seconds away from getting the grumpy side of you, he turns to meet your gaze, "I took a little bit of time off."
Wow.
There hadn't been anytime off since graduations. Not any on purpose that was. Tobio had been moving forward to make sure he wasn't left behind just like the others did after graduating. Getting to where he was now was no easy feat. For him to take a break was utterly concerning.
"Did something happened? With the guys? The Schweiden team are-"
"No, it was my choice." Tobio looked at you then down to your pair of drinks, "I had something bothering me."
"Alright you know what-" Huffing you square up with him across the patio table, "What the hell? First you don't tell me when you're getting here. Then you get here hours early and don't tell me. Your mom made you re-chop the garlic twice and you didn't say anything. And you haven't mentioned harassing Shoyo over the phone one time. What's up with you?"
Blue eyes staring at you from across the table. Much like the way he stared at you the day he told you he'd be going to Germany. Unlike then the stomach lurking feeling you got from that day didn't measure up to now. Tobio's fixed expression unreadable on his familiar yet so different face. You were looking at your friend but someone entirely new in front of you all at once.
Between the time you waited for an explanation and when he moved forward. Time sped up. His lips against yours before you knew it. In a moment so fleeting that you weren't able to do anything but stare at him when he came back into your full line of sight.
The way you didn't say anything sent him into the first real glimpse of an old fumbling fool, "Oh god no! I- That wasn't- Shit wait y/n no I-"
"You-" the word bubbled in your throat all at once, "-kissed me."
His blue eyes grew huge and the setter looked down at the lips of your hardly touched beer can, "I- Wait listen ok I-"
"Again."
"What?"
"Kiss me again."
Tobio's eyes darted up from the cans. You were looking at him. The same way you did across the gym all those years ago. With such a conviction that his skin tingled with lively vibrance nothing in the world compared to. He could feel his hairs stand on end like they were saluting you. And he bit his lip once nervously expecting you to back down. When you didn't though. He knew he had to.
Slowed down from before. To take a moment to savor everything about it lost in the urgency of the first one. Tobio's lips met yours like they were old friends. Kiss as tender as you imagined. It wasn't until your hands were up cupping his face. And his fingertips grazed the skin of your cheek as he did the same. Did you really make the realization of the knot of nerves in your stomach loosening all at once.
"...I came back to see you." Tobio confessed against your lips. He found his words even though he reluctantly didn't want the kiss to end, "I couldn't focus and- I wasn't doing great at practice- Things were off I just couldn't-"
"We talk every day," You give that out like it's the same. You're a liar if anything. None of it was the same and none of it would be the same now they you had the buzz of his lips against yours, "I don't understand- We just-"
"I think I love you-" Tobio blurted.
No going back now.
Cheeks as red as the day you first kissed his knuckles after nationals. Tobio could only blink a few dozen times as it was hard enough to think of the right words when he was focused. Now his mind was leaving him at a million miles an hour and everything he'd rehearsed was for nothing in this very moment. All Tobio could think of was the hum of your lips against his. Comparing it to how he always imagined it would feel. And realizing now, it was so much better than that.
He swore he could see his reflection in your eyes. Quickly Tobio tried to recoup the plan he had made on the plane ride, "I just- Hold on ok- It's just- Ever since we were kids- I guess a long time- And being in Germany- It feels weird away- I love it but it doesn't feel completely right- I came back to see you and- I didn't mean it exactly like-"
"I love you too." The words swelled in your chest like a school girl. Here you were in your twenties confessing like a fool. Somehow it felt better than keep it all in these years. You find more to go along with just blurting that out like he did, "I mean- I think I've known for a while- A long while. This feeling, I don't know a lot of things I guess since I don't travel the world like you. Even when you were so far away I couldn't shake this-"
All over again and for only the third time in a lifetime. Tobio leaned in and kissed you. Practice making perfect with him like always. This time his hands found yours to squeeze them tight. Fingers wrapping around your palms with the warm of them taking over your hands.
Tobio was slow. He waited an entire plan ride plus almost a decade to do this. Through break downs or break throughs, your lips lit up more in him than anything your name in his contacts could ever do.

Coming out
Ransom Drysdale x daughter!reader lesbian!reader
Summary: Jacob finds out your gay, and decides to spill it to the whole family at dinner.
Warning ⚠️: Please be aware that this contains forced coming out, and the use of the F slur. I monetize it, and blurb the word so it’s not technically there but it’s obvious what the word was. IF THIS TRIGGERS YOU PLEASE DONT READ!!!
———————————————————————
"How about we go to an early diner, then the 5 o'clock showing?" Lily offered. I was laying on my bed while on the phone.
"That should work, you know I'm always free."
"Will your dad know where you are?" She asked making me role my eyes.
"I'll tell him I'm meeting some friends." My dad was hardly ever home with me anyways.
"You know at some point you will have to tell him right?" She asked making me sigh. I could not for the life of me figure out how he would react if I came out to him. He was an asshole, and certain parts of the family definitely would not support, but at the same time we hardly ever stuck around for the political argument.
"I will, but I've told you about my family. I just want to wait until I have a backup plan. We graduate in a year anyways. Then I'll take you far far away and treat you like a queen." I explained, thinking about what our life could be after high school.
"You already treat me like one." She chuckled. "And you know I will support you with whenever you decide to."
"I'm gonna go let my dad know I'm leaving then I'll be over to pick you up. Sound good?" She hummed in agreement and we both said goodbye before hanging up. I pulled some shoes on, and made sure I looked presentable before heading downstairs. I could hear my dad moving around in the kitchen as I pulled in a light sweater.
"Dad, I'm hanging out with some friends tonight." I called out walking towards the door.
"No your not!" He called back making me freeze. I turned around to see him standing in the doorway, leaning against it.
"Why?"
"Family dinner tonight." He explained making me role my eyes.
"Do I really have to go? The only people I talk to are you and great grandpa, and I see you both all the time."
"Don't be dramatic. I'm sure you talk to the rest of them." He said rolling his eyes.
"Oh really? Grandma and grandpa barely tolerate me, Donna, Walt, and Jacob hate me, Joni does that weird mix of trying to be a mother figure and guilt tripping me, and Meg hates me for the simple fact of being your daughter. The only other person who's sort of ok is Marta, but she doesn't work tonight." I counted each person on my fingers as I spoke making him chuckle and shake his head.
"You know there will be a fight and we will leave early, and nothing is happening tomorrow. Just go out with your friends after diner." He explained, waving his hand as though say that's the end of it.
I sighed but pulled my phone out send a text to Lily letting her know what happened. She agreed to meet me latter tonight, saying that there is a latter showing of the movie we want to see.
———————
"The favorite great grandchild is here!" I called out as we walked into the house. I could hear a few groans from the other room, and as I pulled my jacket off some walked over to greet us.
"Nice to see you Ransom." My great grandfather said greeting my dad. "And hello dear!" He said walking over to me, giving me a side hug. "We gonna play a game of Go later?"
"Only if you want to be beat old man."
"Oh! We will see about that!" He said chuckling as we made our way towards the main room. I could hear people arguing, so my dad must be in there already.
No one paid me any attention as I sat down next to my dad. Meg was practically screaming at my dad while he just sat there smirking.
"Meg, please sit down, Ransom, do you really need to start this already?" My grandmother finally said, trying to calm everyone.
"I didn't do anything! Just sat down." My dad claimed throwing his arms up. I chuckled at all the commotion, knowing damn well that my dad had said something to piss Meg off.
"What are you laughing at f&$#*" I felt everyone in the room freeze when they heard that. I turned my head slowly to the side to see Jacob looking up at me.
"W-what?" I whispered, still in shock of what happened.
"You heard exactly what is said. I asked what you were laughing at f&$#*" He stated.
"Jacob what the hell?!" Meg asked, all her anger from a moment pointed at him now.
"What?! It's true, I saw her kissing some girl at the park the other day."
"Come on." My dad mumbled grabbing me by the arm and pulling me to my feet.
"Ransom just wait a moment, give Jacob a chance to explain himself. I'm sure-"
"Walt, if I 'give him a mom to explain himself' I will end up punching a child." He snapped turning to look at Walt.
"I mean, give him the benefit of the doubt. She shouldn't hide stuff like that, and F&$-"
"If you say, that GOD DAMN WORD ABOUT MY DAUGHTER AGAIN YOU WILL REGRET IT!" He yelled stepping closer to Walt. "And wether she's gay or not, it's non of your fucking business. She's 17, almost an adult, and can make her own decisions. Also, if she likes girls, I get it. I like pussy to. Now we are gonna leave, and if I find out you, your wife, or your son try to contact her, you will be sorry." He took a step away from Walt so he could look at the rest of them. "If any of you contact her before she's ready, you will be sorry."
Once he was done he stormed off towards the door and I followed behind. He only stoped to let me put my jacket on, and as I did my great grandfather squeezed my shoulder a bit. "Have a good night dear." He whispered before going back to the rest of the family.
The car ride home was silent, and I had chosen to sit in the back so I wouldn't have to look my dad in the face. His hands were tightly gripping the steering wheel, and he was driving significantly over the speed limit. Once him he didn't say a word to me or wait for me before heading inside. I stayed in the car for a moment, laying my head on the seat in front of me. Why, out of everyone did it have to be Jacob who saw me with Lily?
After almost 10 minutes I made my way into the house. Sad was sitting on the couch, and I tried to sneak past him but he heard me anyways. "Y/n, come here please." He said the moment my foot touched one of the stairs.
Silently I made my way over to the couch, and sat down. Nether of us spoke for a few moments.
"Was Jacob telling the truth?" He asked finally looking over at me. I felt like I was going to die right then and there, I didn't want to tell him, but I couldn't lie at this point ether.
"Ya, he was." I whispered.
"Do you have a girlfriend?"
"Yep,"
"That's who you've been hanging out with?"
"Ya."
"How long have you known?"
"I don't know." I sighed, getting a bit irritated. “Some time in middle school maybe.” He was silent for a few minutes, witch just caused my anxiety to worsen.
“You know I cried when I first held you.” I looked over at him surprised, I had never seen him cry. “I was 16 and Terrified, your mother planed to move away within days after you were born. I was so scared I wouldn’t be a good dad, that I would fuck you up. But t he moment I held you in my arms I knew i loved more then every member of our fucked up family combined.” He pauses for a second, reaching up to wipe away the tear that had somehow escaped.
“I’m sorry that Jacob did that. I plan to try and talk with Walt and Donna, he had no right to act like that.”
“Don’t, you know it will only lead to more drama.” I said. “So your not mad I didn’t tell you?”
“Of course not, that was your choice on when that was supposed to come out.” He explained, wrapping an arm around me. “Now, was that friend you were going to hang out with the girl?”
I smiled a bit, glad to know he really didn’t seem to care. “Ya, we were gonna see a movie.”
“Your welcome to go now, I’m sure being with her is a bit more relaxing then being with me.” He smiled a bit before standing up. My dad was almost never soft like that, and decided to do my best to remember that smile.
“Thank you so much.” I said, a real smile on my face.
“You’ll have to bring her around some time. Don’t think she won’t still get the talk like with any boys you would have brought home. What’s her name anyways?”
“Lily.” I said pulling my phone out to send her a quick message.
“Wait your friend lily? The one that you stay over at her house all the time?”
“I’ve got to go dad, I’ll let you know when I’m home.” I said running out the door. I could here him telling for me but I just chuckled as I drove away. I guess I won’t be having anymore ‘sleep overs’ with Lily.

My whole life I didn't think I have any family. Turns out I got two.

Also on AO3!
“Shhh, don’t wake up your mama!”
Natasha crinkled her nose at the noise around her, still partly muted from the nap she was just waking up from. She wasn’t sure what time it was - just that she closed her eyes in the middle of an old movie and she Steve were watching, knowing damn well it was just background noise while they cuddled in silence. One thing she knew for sure was that she was alone on the couch now but a blanket was draped over her. Giggles erupted next to her ear and she fought against a smile tugging at her lips.
“I think mama’s awake anyway,” a voice answered, an obviously failed attempt at a whisper.
“I think she’s still sleeping,” Natasha joked, peeking an eye open and seeing James right in front of her. He was grinning ear to ear, but there were specks of mud on his face. “James? Did you not listen to Nana and played with the pigs again ?” Fully awake now, Natasha sat up and took James’ face in her hands, leaning in to kiss his forehead. He giggled, throwing his arms around Natasha’s neck for a hug. “Honey,” Natasha pulled away fractionally, “you smell stinky.”
James nervously laughed and tried to explain. “I might have fallen in the pen.” Natasha narrowed her eyes, seeing right through her son’s lie. She didn’t have to be a spy to know that he’s lying - and, judging by the sheepish smile on his face, James knew he can’t fool his mother either.
“Whatever happened to watching him?” Natasha asked Alexei, her voice stern but teasing. No matter how many rules for the kids she tried to establish, it seems that they go out the window once the grandparents are in charge. She knows it should annoy her, yet she can’t help but find it cute. Melina and Alexei are only lenient on the little things anyway, respecting major rules that Steve and Natasha has laid out for their kids.
Looking up from the newspaper he was reading at the kitchen counter, Alexei’s eyes widened. “What do you want me to do! He said he fell! Right, James?” Alexei argued, throwing his hands up and winking - obviously wanting James to make his mom believe that he didn’t deliberately play with his grandma’s experiment - er, pet - pigs. James giggled and nodded, loving his little game with his grandfather. Natasha’s convinced the two of them spending so much time together will drive her to an early grave.
“Yeah, I don’t think even your dad could be convinced of that, bud. Go, take a shower please.” He nodded and ran up the stairs to the bathroom. Yawning and stretching her arms, Natasha turned to Alexei. “What time did you guys get back? And where’s everyone else?” She eyed the clock and saw that it was nearing 7pm. Melina and Alexei took James and Sarah to the Cleveland Zoo earlier in the day, insisting that the kids stop by there before they go back to New York the next day.
Melina and Alexei’s farm in the suburbs of Cleveland became a frequent vacation spot for Steve, Natasha, and the kids. Ever since the Red Room was taken down, Melina and Alexei decided to go back to Ohio and settle down - if that’s what they want to call it. The two have been working with Yelena in tracking down more Widows and other victims of the Red Room - as well as running covert ops in taking down child-trafficking rings - from their farm. Yelena is more of a nomad - being more active in the field by traveling all over the world, although she usually stops by the farm or Natasha and Steve’s house in New York.
“We only have been here for an hour. Steve’s helping Melina with some stuff in the back. Sarah does not want to leave her grandmother’s side,” Alexei smiled fondly. Sarah has thoroughly stolen her grandfather’s heart and it shows.
Natasha nodded, checking her phone for messages. “Is Yelena stopping by? The kids haven’t seen her in a while.”
“Eh, you know her. She might, she might not.” Natasha looked up at that, narrowing her eyes at him. Alexei put his hands up again. “I don’t know. She said she will try. I did not want to put the kids’ hopes up so I did not tell them.”
Natasha smirked. “That sounds like her.” She stood up and headed to the back door to see if she could spot Sarah and Steve. The little girl is sitting on the back of a pony, with Melina standing next to her with a hand perched on her back - although Natasha has a rising suspicion that the pony is a little bit too behaved for a regular farm animal. And Steve is - oh - now breaking logs in half. For what, Natasha isn’t sure, but all she knows is that he makes a damn good sight to see.
“I used to look like that, you know. Maybe even bigger.” Alexei, who Natasha didn’t notice have moved next to her, suddenly piped up, seemingly following her line of sight. “Your mom - you know, those years we lived here - she liked it, I could tell.” Natasha wrinkled her nose, frowning as she looked up at Alexei. “What, what? I’m just saying. He’s not the only super soldier in the house. I’m just saying. I put on some weight but I still look good, no? Melina still thinks so.”
“Okay, calm down. I don’t really need all the gory details.” Natasha shook her head, looking back at Steve. He’s almost through his pile of whole logs, his shirt now almost completely drenched in sweat.
“But that’s my point - there are still gory details,” Alexei winked at Natasha’s overly-dramatic shudder. “You know. If you two need more weekends alone, Melina and I don’t mind having the kids over. You just have to tell us.”
Resisting the urge to roll her eyes, Natasha turned to meet Alexei’s eyes. “Ha ha, I get it. As weird as what you’re trying to say - thank you. I appreciate it, really.” He grinned, his right arm reaching around Natasha to envelop her in a one-arm hug. It took a while for Natasha to let Alexei start hugging her again, and once she did, he never let a moment to do so pass.
Natasha caught Sarah’s eyes when the latter looked up, waving with her free hand. She heard Sarah squeal and say something to Melina, who nodded at the little girl. Sarah brought her arms out and was lifted off the pony by her grandmother before making a mad dash to the back door where Natasha was standing. Alexei slid the door open just in time to hear the “Mommy!!!” screech coming from Sarah, with said little girl running into her mom’s open arms.
“Hi honey! How was your time at the zoo today?” Natasha asked while hugging Sarah tightly. The little girl hugged her back with all her might before letting go, excited to answer her mom’s question.
“I had so much fun! Grandma taught me about animals!”
“Go on, tell your mama which one is your favorite,” Alexei prodded, reaching down to help straighten Sarah’s hair.
“I liked the monkeys! They remind me of Rocky,” the girl replied, making Natasha sputter. Ah, yes. Sarah and her ever-fascination with Rocket Raccoon will never not amuse any of the other Avengers.
“Make sure to tell him that, honey,” Steve suddenly piped up, having walked back with Melina. He stood next to Natasha and planted to swift kiss to her lips.
Natasha wrinkled her nose, flicking his arm. “You stink, go shower after your son,” she waved him off, sending him laughing up to their room to get changed.
“And do you remember what animal group monkeys are a part of?” Melina asked, kneeling on one knee next to Sarah.
Sarah paused for a minute, scrunching up her brows in the same way as Steve often would when thinking - something Natasha would often tease him about - before answering. “Primates!”
This made Melina beam and kiss her forehead before standing up. “Very good, baby! You’re the smartest little girl I know!” she praised, making Sarah giggle. Turning to Natasha and Alexei, she inclined her head to the kitchen. “Come on, dinner should be ready soon.”
Once Steve and James got back and helped set the table, they all gathered around the table to eat. Melina made Borscht and Stroganoff - both of which are favorites of James and Sarah. They were laughing about how Sarah tried to ride one of the ponies at the zoo thinking it would be as tame as Melina’s pony, only to have it get spooked and run away when the doorbell rang. The adults all exchanged a look as Alexei stood up to answer the door.
“Who’s that grandma?” James asked, glancing up before taking a bite of his food.
“Your favorite aunt, it’s who!” A voice bellowed, followed by a tapping of feet.
“Auntie Yelena!” Both children chorused, rushing out of their seats to greet their aunt before she even reached the kitchen. “Fanny!” they squealed once the dog found them and started circling their feet.
Yelena walked into the kitchen with Sarah and James latched on both of her sides, Fanny following right on their heels. “Hello, everybody. Thanks for not waiting for me before eating,” she deadpanned.
“We didn’t even know you were coming.” Melina answered, scooping more soup into Steve’s bowl.
Yelena’s mouth dropped. “Natasha knew! I texted her. This is so unfair,” she huffed and sat down on the available seat next to Steve once the kids let go of her.
“What? I wanted it to be a surprise!” Natasha argued, smirking at her sister. “Isn’t that what you would’ve wanted?” she asked before eating a spoonful of Stroganoff. Yelena pouted, taking a piece of bread and biting into it.
Conversation flowed nicely throughout dinner, and it wasn’t until everyone moved into the living room while eating dessert did Yelena start braiding Sarah’s hair. “Are you ever going to color your hair, honey?” She asked, her fingers swiftly yet delicately weaving through the little girl’s hair.
“Oh please, Yelena, she’s six. Don’t give her any ideas,” Natasha waved her off, passing the bowl of ice cream to Steve.
Melina laughed, getting everyone’s attention. “It’s funny you say that, you know. Considering you would put temporary dyes in Yelena’s hair when you were younger. Not to mention your blue hair,” she nudged Alexei’s side, making him snort. “Remember?”
Steve looked at Natasha, his mouth dropping fractionally. “You had blue hair?” That got James’ attention too, as he turned to them from the TV.
Natasha narrowed her eyes at Melina before looking at Steve. “You’ve seen me with how many different hair colors already?”
“Yes, but that’s different because those are for missions, so it doesn’t mean the same. You had honest-to-god blue hair?” he tried asking again.
“Didn’t you bring the photo album with you, mama?” Yelena asked, looking up at Melina.
Melina nodded and stood up from the couch, plucking the album from one of her bookshelves. “Here, see?” She brought it over to where Steve and Natasha were sitting, setting it on the coffee table in front of them.
The photo album looked worn but the pictures were still clear, surprisingly. It contained the tale of their undercover family in Ohio, yet it all felt very real. Steve smiled softly at a young Natasha - he’s seen some of this pictures before, but the photobooth shots of a young her and Yelena have been new additions to the album. He figured they might have had it restored because it looked crisp and blown up.
“Wow, she wasn’t kidding. You did have blue hair,” he remarked, making Natasha glare at him. “What? It looks good! You looked so… punk.”
“She does have a flair for the dramatic,” Yelena agreed, tying Sarah’s braid in place. “There, all done! Show your mama.”
Sarah skipped to Natasha’s side, showing off her new braid and getting praises from her parents. She looked down to where everyone was looking at, noting the pictures for the first time. “Is that you, Aunt Yelena?” she pointed to a picture of a little girl holding a box in front of a tree.
Yelena knelt down next to the table to look at which photo she was pointing at and stifled a laugh. The ends of her hair in that picture have tints of pink in them, probably from one of Natasha’s so-called “experiments” back then - where she would usually test out a color on Yelena’s hair too before committing all of it on hers. She nodded at Sarah, “Yes, honey, that’s me. That’s your mom next to me.” she pointed at where a young Natasha was smiling brightly at the camera.
“Your hair looked like candy!”
Looking smug, Yelena leaned back to look at her sister in the eye, who was already shaking her head. “Well, honey, it’s a good thing your mom knows a lot about hair colors.”
Steve snorted at the inside joke between them just as Sarah started rattling off a list of colors she wants to try. It sounds like she might just be listing every color she can recall, but Yelena knows Natasha has at least found her new muse to experiment hair colors with.

Punkdate (Punk Update) 3/30/22
TW for Heavy Topics.
So it’s been a week and a day since (in my mind at least, probably not for him) I “ended things” with Catboy (for now). Since then he has messaged me that he did loose custody of his kid which sucks and I did pretty much say “that sucks” and that’s about it. He messaged me Sunday asking how I was and when I told him what was going on he asked if I wanted to call and I pretty much said no you’re the last person I want to talk to right now and I just want to be left alone for the foreseeable future. A part of me does want to message him back and see if we can call just so I can not feel mad at him anymore but like I also don’t want to fall back into that “I would do anything to have you” mindset so I’ll probably wait but.
So far also I have going on:
I briefly mentioned this here but my aunt is about an hour away from Catboy and when we figured this out it was like so cool! But also like “wow you don’t want to go to AZ but I would do anything to go” and when I told him things were getting worse he invited me to fly out there and I said no it was fine i’m sure that things with her will be fine. They aren’t, though, and my mom is flying out there without me in 3 weeks- if she lives that long- because my other aunts and one cousin have been taking shifts making sure someone is with her and her husband (my uncle) at all times because he is bedridden and has in-home nurses but before that they were taking care of him (he’s been kicked out and most likely black-listed from other facilities for being a combatant patient) and they’re all exhausted from this and my aunt said specifically she wished that my mom could take a shift to help which is like… pretty much probably her dying wish so of course my mom is putting everything aside to go out there, but she won’t let me come, and says she needs peace of mind that I’m looking after the animals (more on this in a second) and the house and still getting a pay check while she’s gone because it’s going to be emotionally, physically, and mentally draining for her to be out there. I really thought I was going to be able to see her one last time before she passed but I don’t think that I am.
About pets I just had one pass away yesterday. It was not polyam doggo, or I would have said something sooner. I cried a little bit but honestly I just don’t really feel anything.
My grandma’s breast cancer came back and they took out the lump which it was that or a mascectamy or however you spell that and so she went with this and then radiation treatment to follow but apparently she went to a second doctor and that doctor told her that radiation was a bad idea and she should have gotten the mascectamy so now she isn’t doing radiation which she didn’t want anyway but like after it’s too late a second opinion was like yeah… that is NOT the treatment you should have picked… which she was NOT given all the info she just got from this doctor before about how like radiation would be (more) dangerous and stuff…
My mom told me just now that she wants to cancel one of the trips we had planned which. Sucks. Because I was looking forward to it. My mom also keeps telling me how hard on money we are right now like every single time I’m in her vicinity. Like literally every day when we drive to work she’s like “we’re struggling to make ends meet”. We had to fix our roof and one heat system we have is broken and it’s been exceptionally cold so we’ve been overusing the other heat we have which has been expensive and the car has needed a lot of repairs and it’s going to need more soon and my mom keeps talking about the “chip shortage” and about how we can’t get a new used car etc. Last night I was like fuck this I had $700 in my bank account last I looked so I should have at least $600 now imma buy myself stuff while I’m buying myself a new computer and yeah I looked and I had $300 so I’m like cool nevermind but I might just like go to the mall or something and buy like. A bottle of hair dye. A nice body wash. A few button pins. Idk. I have been buying fake plants at least because that’s what I want for my room.
Speaking of my room also on the way here my mom is like fuck this I’m finally ready to move to Florida and I’m like I’ve been asking to move to Florida since I was 14 and you just bought a house here and she’s like yeah we can probably sell it or rent it if need be (this wouldn’t be for a few years if at all).

Eternal Love of Dream - Chapter Next 2
Tumblr media
The Bai household was bustling with activity today. The former queen of Quingqui and the future queen  of Sky Kingdom, Bai Xian was visiting after a long time. Her son Ah-li was with her too. He had always been quite close to his Fengjiu Jiejie. Knowing that Fengjiu was in coma had had both Xian and Ah-li worried. So they had come to check on her.
Bai Xian and Dijun exchanged pleasantries. Dijun introduced Gungun. After the initial shock and surprise, Bai Xian and Gungun took an instant liking to this little silver haired boy.
Bai Xian checked on the sleeping Fengjiu and then excused herself. She went on to look for her mother.
Ah-li and Gungun took a seat at the window, watching the birds outside and started chatting. Dijun busied himself with preparing medicine for his wife. He could hear the little boys talk excitedly nearby.
“So, where have you lived all this while, Gungun? What’s your home like?”, asked the ever curious Ah-li.
“Mother and I lived in the mortal realm. Not in any one place though. Mother says I grow much slowly than mortal children so to avoid people talking and making more trouble, we move every few months or every couple years.”, Gungun explained. “We still do get into plenty of trouble anyways, but at least we have gotten better in the last couple years”, he added.
That just piqued A-li’s interest immensely and his eyes shone brightly. “Tell me all about it. I know when I went around with Fengjiu Jiejie we often got into trouble, but she always made an adventure out of it.”
Dijun was listening, he did get worried when Gungun said trouble, but on hearing Ah-li’s response, a tiny chuckle escaped him. Yes, that was true. His Xiaobai could turn a trouble into an adventure any time. That was one of the many things he admired about her. Curious to learn more, he diverted his attention back to the little boys by the window.
“Well, my earliest memory is of Mother fighting a bunch of roughs. Their leader wanted to hold Mother’s hand and take her away. He said he had never seen a beauty like her. Mother tried to reason with him to leave her alone, but when he didn’t listen, she kicked him. So they all came to fight with her.
Out of nowhere Mother took out a knife, made it into a sword and fought them all by herself. But the leader guy was sly. He picked me up and started threatening her. She was furious. She did something with her hand, a bright red light shot up and the guy holding me went flying backwards, while Mother caught me. That scared them all and they ran away shouting. But all that fighting had injured Mother too. She was bleeding all over and was also spitting blood. I was very scared. But Mother is brave. She smiled at me, told me not to worry, collected just a few things from home and took me away.” Gungun’s face showed all kinds emotions as he spoke. But most of all, you could feel the pride the little boy felt for his Mother. She was his hero.
Listening to all this perturbed Dijun’s heart. He should have been there for her. She had been all alone while he was still alive. He had promised her, over and over, that he would never leave her alone. That he would always be with her. He had failed miserably to keep that promise. No wonder she had not believed him and walked away, when he had said no one was more important to him than her. After what she had gone through, after what he had inadvertently put her through, how could she ever believe him? Why should she believe him? His heart broke at the thought. The ring on Xiaobai’s finger glowed again.
Ah-li’s eyes had grown as big as saucers. “Wow, what an amazing story! I am so proud of Fengjiu Jiejie. Tell me more.”, Ah-li said leaning closer.
“More? Well there are so many stories like this. A few months later, Mother had started covering up the Phoenix feather on her forehead with something she called cosmetics. She had also started dying my hair black so we could both look more like mortals. At that time she ran a small tea stall in a different town. One day it started raining heavily and before we could wrap up our stall and go home, we were both drenched. Her cosmetics had washed away and the Phoenix feather on her forehead glowed. I thought it looked so pretty, but there was a mortal nearby who saw and told everyone she was a demon. People gathered around us and wanted to throw all kinds of things at us. The bad guy jeered at us, he told everyone to capture Mother and hand her over to him. Mother did something clever this time. She did some magic to make the black snake come out of his sleeve. And then she told everyone that the guy himself was a bad wizard and he kept black snakes as pets. That scared everyone long enough and we ran away.”, Gungun recalled.
“You ran away to where? What did you do after running away? Did the bad guy chase you? Tell me, tell me, tell me....”,  Ah-li begged to know more.
“He tried to chase us, but we were too fast for him. Mother flew us away to nearby forest and we took shelter in a cave that time. Her magic had hurt her though. She was spitting blood for so many days after that. She said it was because of backfire from her magic. Immortals were not allowed to use magic in mortal realm, so it was like a punishment. ”
“We began living in that cave. We did not have any quilts etc in there, but Mother made us beds with some grass and we kept fire running at the door all the time. Mother said it kept the wild animals away. She worked hard there too. She would take me on her back and go gathering fruits and hunting during the day. At night she would feed me first and eat only if something was left over. She used to get fever at night for several nights - may be because of the back fire or the cold in that cave. But at least we were safe from bad guys for the time being. In spite of all this, she always kept smiling and told me I was enough for her to be happy. I tried to help as best as I could. Slowly things got better as Mother recovered. We lived in that cave for several months, all the way till winter was almost starting.”
“That’s an amazing story! I wish I could have been there with you both. I would have also helped and would have also enjoyed the adventures.”, Ah-li sighed.
Chonglin came in at that very moment. He bowed to Dijun and the little ‘your majesties’. He had brought dinner for Dijun and a message for the boys. “Your grandma said you both need to come with me. I will help you wash up for dinner.”, he said.
Gungun looked at Dijun as if asking for permission silently. He didn’t really know Chonglin yet. Dijun smiled and nodded a yes. All of them left to go eat.
Dijun was alone with his wife. He left the food alone for the time being and gave her her medicine. He lovingly wiped her face and adjusted the quilt on her. He bent down and planted a soft kiss on the Phoenix feather on her forehead. Dijun sighed. Xiaobai did not stir.
He sat next to her bed as he started eating. His thoughts drifted again. He had wondered why she had stubbornly stayed away from him for almost 200 years. Even if she was mad at him, she could not have stayed mad at him for that long. She would have at least tried to meet him once. She would not have made a deliberate attempt to avoid him like that.
Her actions were becoming more and more clear now. When he did not show up for their wedding and also didn’t show up for over a couple months after that, she was forced to believe that he had given up on them. She must have believed that he had chosen Ji Feng and left her. She must have realized she was pregnant at that time. So to avoid complicating things, she had taken herself away. She had stayed away to protect his son and also to protect him.
It had been a huge mistake to hide things from her. It had been his mistake. It had been his love. She had paid the hefty price for it.
And yet, she had come. In spite of everything. When she had heard Dijun’s side of story from Chonglin and found out about his battle with Miao Luo, she had kept everything else aside and rushed to protect him.
He recalled how her delicate, fragile frame had burst in through the Star Light ward wielding her Pottery sword in front of the fearsome Miao Luo. Her graceful, agile movements had showed no trace of hesitation. She was determined to save him. Even if it meant sacrificing herself.
How could someone love him so much? How could she love him so much? Love was mysterious in many ways!
He realized that while he thought he was protecting her, she had suffered so much. For him.
And in the end it had been her who had protected him. It was the blood from her heart, the heart of the only red nine-tailed fox in the universe, that had cleansed the immense negative energy from Miao Luo. It was her blood that had destroyed Miao Luo forever, cleared up all the negative energy, broken the Star Light ward and saved him. Saved Bihai Cangling. Saved this universe from chaos.
Yes, he had underestimated her grossly. He had been captivated by her ethereal fragile beauty, her innocence. He had completely missed her strength, her perseverance and her power. Yes, she was powerful. In her own right. She had not need him as much as he had needed her, he thought wryly.
Yes, she was the only one for him.

I’m copy pasting this somewhat from a letter I wrote to my friend earlier this evening. It is pretty concise as to what is happening with my mother thus far.
The last few days have been very worrying. My mother’s condition with covid got worse. She’s nauseated and deliriously ill and struggling to breath. She was sent back to the hospital four days after they released her. They released her because the beds are filling up so fast, not because she was better.
She tried to go to four different hospitals but they had no room. Eventually she was ambulance driven to a hospital in a rural town fifty miles away. It was a nicer hospital and the staff took more care of her but her situation became even more dire. She has double pneumonia delta variant covid. Two days ago Allison and I called her and god she sounded horrid. She whimpered in agony to talk. She was horribly sorry that she didn’t get the vaccine. I looked it up online and she has a 40% survival rate. We have been devastated. The sick idea of her suffering in the hospital alone is disgusting. She’s not even sixty yet. Every breath is a struggle. At night the doctors spend several hours trying to fix her oxygen.
I’m heartbroken and sick with worry. I go between being numb and sobbing and feeling helpless. She’s suffering. I may never speak to her again. I don’t know how to contextually articulate what that means to my existence but it changes everything. Even if she gets better, I will never be the same. She was part of who I am even when we weren’t close.
Today they emergency flew her to Boise to be on a ventilator. Allison messaged me at work and I fell apart and had to leave. They’ve covered my shifts for this weekend. I sobbed outside until Allison and Eddison came and got me. Happy oblivious people in close quarters looked at me strangely from a completely different reality where covid is merely a year old concept they loosely take seriously. The only bright thing I can say is that her being on a ventilator is actually good news in her situation, not bad. I mean, it’s horrible. But the fact that they gave her one when Idaho has run out is more fortunate news. It means she’s lucky to have that.
Her breathing is stabilized. She still may die. They have a better understanding of how to treat covid than they did last year. I’m trying to stay positive. I love my mom. Hell despite everything I really like her. I just want five to ten more good years with her. I’m writing this in a semi composed way, but I’m not really composed. I’m absolutely unable to focus on much else. The world is just never going to ‘go back’.
Other hideous news is that my grandma Marie, which you may vaguely remember from my life story, and her boyfriend Foreman are both deathly ill of covid. I was very close to her in my late teens and early twenties. He’s a fanatic conspiracy theorist. He believes all the Alex Jones nonsense. They were getting sicker and sicker and when my grandma tried to get better he physically prevented her and yelled at her for trying to get medical help. Maria found out and called an ambulance anyway, which they gave her oxygen and sent her home. She was angered and resentful and when she got back Foreman took half her oxygen for himself. I have no idea how oxygen works or how they take it in, but I will accept what I’m being told.
I really don’t like him and he’s very cult like. He’s someone who is harmless in certain contexts but has the potential for doing great damage and evil mindlessly when the opportunity would arise. My grandma and foreman are now so sick that they can’t move. Their organs are shutting down. They have decided to die together. I half don’t believe this was my grandma’s true will as she was adamantly trying to seek help early on. When they sent her home she gave up. I’m sure hearing about my mother’s condition had broken her spirit also. They have defacated and have feces all over themselves coming off the bed. My sister Maria is trying to take care of them but it’s hard.
David has bronchitis. He’s going to be okay but this whole thing is horrible. He’s focusing on niche news and political topics, and i worry about how his obsession and focus is largely on moral outrage. He’s not a conservative but i see this inhinged need to be angry at ‘a side’. He hates communism and pretty much accused a political people of communism.
My grandma gave into white nationalism and science denial and racism and hate during the end of her life. It started when Obama was first running. I think it gave her something to live for and believe in. Though the potential for hatred and prejudice was in her system she gave into something and it kind of warped her into something that made me want to avoid her, even when I knew and loved her dearly deep down. She was a multitude of people in her time and she was also a very good person in many ways with a limited understanding of the world around her. She had a hard battle to find independence. She’s a victim of what happens when children don’t get hugs.
Old age and loneliness made her open to Fox News and worse. Overtime it made her resent and hate an imaginary enemy every day. Anger and fear that she never coped with distorted her ability to be open. I’m sorry it’s ending this way. She deserves so much more dignity. I know a better side to her and it cuts me to think of her right now wheezing and dying in that manner. She’s very old and I was willing to accept her death. But this is a whole other level of disturbing and sad. She doesn’t deserve to die covered in feces alone. It makes me want to puke.
I’m kind of mad at Maria and her kids because they brought covid to the house and to my grandma. It was to ask for food and gas money. They knew they had covid and didn’t say anything. Now Maria is remorseful and trying to take care of everyone. I’m not actually mad at her. She’s got to be suffering horribly. This is one of the ugliest times in my entire life.
There is nothing anyone can say. I’m disgusted at politicians who politicized this and made people afraid to get vaccinated. They have blood on their hands and they don’t care as they misguide their voter base into death. Even conservatives in other countries aren’t creating myths about covid to create rifts between parties. My mother is a sweet person. She isn’t really good with critical thinking and wasn’t able to access the truth with logic. She’s gullible and childlike. She was fooled. Which was that she was high risk and needed to get vaccinated.
Anyway, there isn’t much else to say. I hope you are staying safe wherever you are. Hold your loved ones close and don’t forget to appreciate the time we have with those people.

hi can I also request a Fire Lord Zuko x reader based on a scene from Mulan where she asked Shang “would you like to stay for dinner?” and then her grandmother shouted “would you like to stay forever?” except the grandmother is Uncle Iroh in this story and Zuko is the one who asked her the question (I have the link for this scene from the Mulan movie and I can send it to you via message if you don’t know which scene i’m talking about) Thank you!
OMG I would love to. Mulan is still one of my favorite Disney movies of all time. I’m so happy I got this request. I hope that I do it some justice!
In order for this to make sense I’m going to explain what happens previously to this scene in the fanfic. Basically, Y/N did what Mulan did, taking her father’s place in the war, except it’s taking his spot on Zuko’s ship. Zuko finds out etc, plot goes on as normal for the show, and then when Y/N returns home after helping defeat the Fire Lord, Zuko comes to find her.
(Also, I hope you don’t mind the small bisexual Zuko theme I threw in there. Because honestly Zuko gives off major bi vibes on his own in my opinion and so did Li Shang. He liked Mulan way before he found out he was actually a she.)

Stay For Dinner (Zuko x Reader)
Warnings: None
Genre: Fluff
Part: 1/1
Summary: See Request
•••
Reader’s POV:
The cherry blossoms flittered in the quiet breeze that past by. I simply enjoyed the feeling of being under the tree with my father again after 3 long years. I knew he was probably furious with me, but I didn’t regret my decision.
“I’m sorry, father. I know you must be mad,” I said quietly, refusing to look at him.
He chuckled slightly which caused me to glance cautiously over at him. He smiled and took my hand in his.
“I’m not mad. In fact, I’m incredibly proud of you,” he said, his eyes filled with the love only a father could have.
“Y-You’re not?” I asked hesitantly.
“I was mad at first, but then I realized that you only did what you thought was right and stood up for what you believe in. You fulfilled your destiny and helped being peace to the Fire Nation. I just missed you dearly while you were gone,” he assured me, pulling me into a hug on the bench.
I hugged him back and allowed a smile to break out on my face.
“I missed you too,” I said softly.
•••
Zuko’s POV:
The carriage was quiet as we finally pulled up to the house. I grabbed the helmet off the seat next to me as I gathered all my courage. I looked up and saw the Gaang’s eye’s on me.
“You’re gonna be fine,” Katara assured me.
“Yea, she’s totally in love with you!” Sokka exclaimed, clapping his hand against my shoulder.
“I can feel your heart rate increasing by the second,” Toph teased before adding, “Don’t be so nervous.”
“Just be honest with her about your feelings,” Aang said with his signature smile.
I rolled my eyes and told them all to wait out here before coming to greet their friend. I wanted a moment alone with her to apologize and tell her how I felt.
I gripped the helmet tightly in my hands as I approached the house. It had a quiet beauty to it that I enjoyed as I slowly entered the courtyard. I saw two ladies bickering by an opening in the wall and cautiously approached them.
“Great. She brings home a sword. If you ask me, she should have brought home a man!” the older lady scoffed.
As if on cue, I cleared my throat to catch their attention.
“Excuse me. Does Y/N L/N live here?” I asked nervously.
Both women stared at me in shock before pointing through the opening. I thanked them as I walked towards where they had pointed.
“Woo! Sign me up for the next war,” I heard the older lady say.
I ignored her words as I scanned the area. There was a beautiful cherry blossom tree on top of a small hill. Under it stood who I knew from Fire Nation politics growing up to be Y/N’s father. I approached him as he noticed my presence.
“General, I-“ I began, only to see her walk out from behind him.
I was caught off guard by her sudden appearance and stumbled over my words.
“Y-Y/N!” I exclaimed in surprise.
She looked equally as shocked to see me. She stood beside her father and looked up at me expectantly, certainly waiting for an explanation as to what I was doing here.
“Uhhhh, you forgot your helmet!” I explained, holding it out to her before shaking my head and saying, “Uh w-well it’s actually...your helmet. I mean-”
I was cut off by Y/N stepping forward and lightly grabbing the helmet from my hands. She smiled up at me and it caused a swarm of butterflies to flutter in my stomach.
“Would you like to stay for dinner?” she asked politely.
“Would you like to stay forever?” I heard her grandma call out.
She laughed and shook her head, shooting her grandma an amused look before looking back up at me. I blushed and smiled sheepishly.
“Dinner would be great,” I answered.
“Great, I-“ she began before getting cut off.
“Did you tell her already?” Aang called out.
I turned around to see Aang and the rest of them all standing through the wall’s opening. My face went red immediately and I furiously signaled for them to cut it out.
“Oh, we’re too early then. Sorry,” Aang said innocently.
“You guys!” she exclaimed happily, running over and giving them each a hug.
She turned around and looked at her family who were watching on in a mix of shock and amusement. Her father walked to her mother’s side as she smiled.
“I guess I should introduce everyone. Mom, Dad, Grandma, these are my friends I was telling you about,” she said, turning to start introducing us, “This is Aang, he’s the Avatar. This is Katara and Sokka, the Southern Water Tribe siblings. This is Toph, the greatest earthbender of all time. And this-“
“We know who he is,” your father interrupted.
She giggled slightly, realizing that they definitely knew who I was already.
“Right,” she said, sending a pleasant smile my way.
I waved awkwardly at her family, causing Sokka to snicker at my embarrassment. I shot him a glare as I walked down to introduce myself properly. I bowed in front of her family and they did the same.
“Prince Zuko,” I said politely, looking at the three of them with a smile.
“The future Fire Lord. It is an honor to have you at our home,” her father said before turning to Aang and bowing, “You as well, Avatar Aang.”
The Gaang went inside with Y/N’s family to help with dinner while I stayed behind with her. She brought me to sit next to her on the bench.
“So, what was it that you had to tell me?” she asked.
I took a deep breath before turning to face her. I grabbed her hand hesitantly and looked up to meet her gaze. Her E/C eyes were brimming with life as she looked at me.
“I’ve been meaning to tell you this for quite some time, but I...well at first I thought you were a man. Which was weird. And then I found out that you were actually a woman and I was really confused. B-But anyway,” I stuttered, realizing I was getting off topic.
Y/N squeezed my hand lightly as she held back a giggle. I felt my cheeks color slightly before continuing.
“I really like you. I mean like real genuine feelings. Even before I knew who you really were,” I explained, my heart racing as the fear of rejections grew.
“Wait, you liked me when I was a man? A-And you still like me? Like actual girl me?” she asked curiously.
My red cheeks grew hot as I grimaced, expecting her to criticize me as I nodded. Great. Not only was I coming out to her but I was also confessing my feelings.
I was shocked when I felt her lips pressed against mine. I let my free hand come up to her cheek as she knotted her own in my hair. I didn’t stop kissing her until I was out of breath. I rested my forehead on hers and smiled.
“So, you’re not weirded out or anything? You still like me?” I asked quietly.
“I don’t care at all. I like you for you, Zuko,” she mumbled against my lips.
She kissed me once more and I pulled her closer to me in a hug as she did. After so long, I was finally able to be with her.
“We’d better get inside before my father wonders what’s taking so long,” she said, a teasing smile on her face.
I stood up and held my hand out for her to take. She smiled at me and I pressed as kiss into her hand as she took mine. She held my hand as I began walking towards the house to help with dinner. Her warm hand in mine assured me that everything would be just fine.

_
You spent the other night on your boyfriend's house, after an wonderful date the two of you had. You went bowling, with you winning and him pretending that he actually let you win. Just like teenage boy. Either way you wanted to make him dinner, take care of him and so you did at his place, just like he desired. The dark night found you sleeping in his arms, the moon hitting your face from the huge window.
You woke up at the couch, with a pillow in your arms that smelled like him. You squeezed more before letting a horrible sound come through your mouth. You sat up,stretching. Every bone inside you cracked, leaving you feeling how much of an grandma you were.
A green hoodie was lying at the edge of the couch. You had a prepared speech exclusive for yourself, about how you shouldn't steal any of his hoodies anymore. It wasn't yours,he gave his money to buy it for him,it was big for you-
You grabbed and putted on your body. The warmth and his body smell gave you enough comfort. You wrapped yourself with your hands and closed your eyes and suddenly it felt like he was next to you, hugging you. Even in your imagination,he had the power to wake the butterflies inside you and making the dance all over.
You were now walking towards the kitchen. Two cups of tea were on the table, one of them half empty, probably his. You took the other one in your hands, taking a sip and letting the hot drink warm your throat.
"Babe?"you asked waiting for his answer. Dead silence.
You moved to his bedroom. Maybe he went back to sleep there, not wanting to wake you up. You opened the door slowly and tried to be as quiet as possible. You had a big smile on your face just with his image lying down, sleeping. He was adorable like that. But he wasn't there either. Not even at the bathroom.
"Tom? Where are you?"what if he left? Maybe something came up and he had to leave early? That's why his cup was glad empty. But he could write you a note or even text you. A sad, cold feeling tickled you from head to toe as you were going back to the kitchen.
You finished your tea and decided to leave the house and go back to yours. Probably it was an emergency and he forgot to tell you.
"Call me when you see this. I left" you closed it and drove to your own place.
_
Clothes all over the floor, even in places that they weren't supposed to be. Dishes in the sink, begging you to clean them. Even coffee was spilled at your dinning table. Yes you were the most messiest person you've ever met but this was an whole another level. Immediately started with the coffee stain and then with the dishes.
After a while your phone rang. With soaking hands you checked it.
Babe💞appeared on your screen.
"Finally.Where have you been?"you asked.
"I was with Tessa outside. Why did you leave? I've been looking for you for about 10 minutes"you slapped your forehead with your hand and closed your eyes. You didn't even noticed that the dog wasn't there.
"I thought that something came up and that's why. I was so sleepy to see that Tessa wasn't with me either. I'm sorry"
"You don't have to my love, I just got scared but I saw your message so it's fine. You liked my tea huh?"
"I did yes,I always do"you laughed and heard his laugh from the speaker. The sound you loved the most in this planet.
"Oh..um..I left it here"he stopped and you heard him talk to himself, almost whispering.
"What happened?"you started feeling worried about him.
"My green sweater is missing too. Well it's gonna be somewhere here"you smiled and started playing with his hoodie, resting in one of the chairs now. You didn't want to wet it."Anyway,I'll be there in twenty minutes,I missed you"
"Already?"you giggled"I slept in your arms last night Tom"
"That is the reason why"you felt blushing and you looked down,as he was standing in front of you,not even a ten year old wouldn't act like this.
"I'll be waiting then"you said and looked at the mess behind you. You had to be quick.
"Love you"
"Love you too"you hang up on him and got back to work. He didn't have to see this chaos.
_
You were of how quick you done almost everything. It was definitely better than before and also you felt really motivated and productive. Feelings not so familiar. But that went away fast,as you started feeling exhausted. You sat at the couch and put something to watch. And as you felt like you were about to sleep, your doorbell rang, waking you up.
Tom.
You got up and almost ran to the door, but something green stopped you. You got his sweater in your hands and hid it behind a huge pillow. You didn't want him to find in your place. You thought that he would be upset about it. He was about to find it someday at his closet all of the sudden. Surprise. You ran again and opened the door. Two hands lifted you from the ground getting you inside again.
"Hii"you screamed with a higher voice and hugged his head, pulling into your chest.
"Hello baby"he kissed your lips and the time stopped there. Fairies around you, throwing glitter making this moment magical, just like the others. Every kiss was on your mind, with every detail. His hands around your waist, your feet around his, your stomach making turns inside your body, your heart about to explode.
"What is this?"you turned around looking at his hands, after feeling something scratching your back.
"I bought something to eat. I didn't have time to make anything and I know how lazy you get "he smiled and you felt your feet touching the ground again. You clapped your hands and got back to the room you spent most of your time today,to grab two plates and cups.
"I'm starving"you said looking at the Heaven in front of your eyes as the smells were flying in the air.You sat next to him,his arms around your shoulders and enjoying your food.
"Next time please leave a note"you said and turned to face him.
"I left for 30 minutes. I didn't think you'd leave."
"I thought that something important happened and that you wouldn't be back. That's the reason I left"you took another bite."And don't ask what would happen if Tessa was there. You know I'd take her with me"
"I know I've had to tell you but you were so adorable that it would have been a sin waking you up"he looked at you with a smile on his lips.
"Oh stop"you rolled your eyes at his compliment."you're being silly now"you placed your plate at the little table. He did the same and grabbed your waist, not letting you leave,as you planned.
"I'm not being silly,I'm telling you the truth. You are adorable baby, can't you see it?"he pushed your hair behind your ear"Every time you look at me and I'm melting. I'm falling in love more and more with how amazing you are. From the way you talk and act with other people I can tell that you're special. Even in your bad days you try to make everyone around you happy or even smile. And when I'm sick or not in a good mental state, you look after me and I know you're gonna be there with me to ease the pain. I'm forever grateful from my decisions that led me straight to you"
"And your outside. Your hair, you eyes, your lips, your body everything attracts me. The way you walk,or talk,or even doing something flatters me. My heart skips a beat from the sight of you, whenever you walk towards me and you smile. You're creature that's here to kill me and I love it"his lips met yours one more time. His hand on your cheek,a movement that you adored the most. Your hands playing with his hair and making him moan from his good it made him feel.
"I love you"you whispered to his ear and hugged him tight. He knew hot to cheer you up and make you feel the most loved person. You questioned the universe if you deserved such a lovely soul as his.
But he knew how to ruin romantic moments like these, better than anyone by just starting to tickle you.
His hands crossing your whole body and yours trying to stop him. You laughed loud and without taking any breaths. Your lungs begged for air but he couldn't let you. Tears started running from your eyes and screams from your mouth. He suddenly stopped and you took it as a  opportunity to run away from him. For a moment you thought he was sitting but as you turned around you saw him just an inch behind you. He picked you up once again and throw you back to your previous spot, this time with him on the top of you.
He was now kissing you with lust. Your legs around his torso, pulling him closer. Your hands under his shirt, scratching his back and making him moan to you. His big hands scanning your skin, every inch of it as it was something unique. His tongue fighting with yours,a fight he won everytime. You needed more of him. You needed him.
You tried to throw the huge pillows that decorated your couch to the side. But you forgot something.
"Is that my sweater?"his green hoodie was lying next to your bodies. He took it away and looked down at you. But your red face was hidden by your arms. You felt embarrassed and got scared for his reaction.
"I won't ask again,is that my hoodie y/n?"
You nodded to him. He left the sweater aside and tried to take your hands out of his way. You refused as much as possible, but he was stronger than you,you both knew that. Your face was now exposed and you bit your lower lip nervous.
"Why didn't you tell me you had it?"you couldn't meet his eyes.
"I was about to give it back to you. Well no,I wanted to put it in your closet without you knowing i stole it"you blinked fast."I'm sorry it won't happen again"
"I'm not mad darling, look at me"you didn't. He touched your chin and and then forced you to look him."I actually think it's cute that you wear them. They look good on you and they make you even more beautiful"
"You're not mad?"you asked him.
"Why would I be mad at you?"
"Because I stole it"you laughed nervously and ran your fingers through your hair.
"Put it on"he commanded. You raised your eyebrows without saying a word and following his demands. He took your hand and made his way to your bedroom, standing in front of the mirror.
"See? You look adorable babe. How can I be mad when you look like this?"you met his eyes as his hands hugged your little body from behind.
"I look like a potato in this"you closed your eyes at the feeling of his chest to your back."The only reason I wear them is that I feel you're with me all day. They smell like you"
He kissed your head and you turned around, your hands on his waist. His side smile, woke up your butterflies, starting to fly on your belly.
"You look cute and I want you to wear them all day and night. You can take them whenever you want"you kissed his cheek and giggled."And don't say you're sorry anymore for these kind of stuff. Please"he begged you with puppy eyes. You couldn't resist,it would be a shame.
"I'm sorry,I'll stop"you raised your one eyebrow, before starting kissing him again.
"Where were we?"

EUROVISION 2021, personal favorites:
- Russia 🇷🇺
Manizha, Russian Woman: Absolute favorite. The sheer originality of the song! Her energy and the level of absolute badassery! She can sing, she can rap,and she's a bomb of energy. The way reggae and brass and hiphop and Slavic melodies overlap and it somehow works, the transitions between fun and "I'm bitter about the sexism and I'm mocking it unapologetically and making a stand" and the anthemic, emphatic and powerful message to Russian women; I was swelling with emotion while watching her. While to an American or a Westerner it may seem like performative feminism, I'm gonna remind you that in Russia and other Slavic countries that's very much not a thing and actually a very unpopular stand to make, and in Russia, The Balkans, and Eastern Europe in general, hundreds of women face domestic and sexual abuse on the daily, and those who do come forward rarely get support and are mostly dismissed. Let's not forget that Manizha got a huge backlash from the Russian government officials, and a big part of it was for her Tajik roots. The honesty of her message is real, and she's speaking from personal experience and the experience of women around her - nothing performative about her song, and you can tell from her delivery that the fire within her is true and she leaves her heart on the stage and pours it into the song. The staging and costumes are great as well, and symbolically well thougt-through. I would really like her to win, or at least get to the top 5. Most of all, I hope her message is heard and felt. 10000/10
- Italy 🇮🇹
Måneskin, Zitti e Buoni: definitely the closest thing to my actual music taste this year, so liking them off the bat wasn't a surprise. However, they're not just your regular Franz-Ferdinand-ish young alt rock band that wants to do rock "properly" - they have IT. The X factor, the Je ne sais quoi. I've been exposed to that particular genre, and I can confidently say that the song still manages to be refreshing and original (that bridge, those riffs!) The band has a great energy and no matter how much Damiano steals the show, they are still a unit and nobody is left in the shadows. They have the spirit of great rock bands of the previous century, and yet they don't try to copy anyone (khm,Greta Van Fleet, khm). Damiano's vocals are both powerful, seductive and provoking, and I'm still admiring the sheer amount of emotion he can pack into a single line and the nuance and yet rawness behind it. I'm not gonna state the obvious lol (the obvious being yes, I'm thirsty as well, he becomes yet another unattainable rockstar for me too,and yes they all look great) Anyway, great song, and maybe the clearest and most serious candidate for the number one spot, taking both the jury and the public into consideration. 10/10
- Iceland 🇮🇸
Daði Freyr and Gagnamagnið, 10 years:
What can I say about this masterpiece that hasn't already been said? A clear fan-favorite (hi, Valentina), but with the guns to back it up. The song is contagious, fun and campy, and unlike some other songs with said qualities, actually good from a musical perspective. Daði is incredibly charismatic and his sense of humor shines through, and even though he's the star of the show, the same can be said about the other band members. The synergy Måneskin has can be applied to Gagnamagnið as well, even though the energy is entirely different. They're serving us fun, sunshine, kitties rainbows sugar spice and everything nice, and manage to do it with zero cringe factor (plus those funky keytars). I'm one of those Eurovision fans that lament the golden age's (2004-2009) campiness (We'll never forget you, Verka), and Daði managed to bring it back, but modernised, polished and still sincere. I personally preferred the epic dad joke that slightly more commercial Think About Thing was (but that's one tough act to follow), but I'm always down for a husband adoring his wife and singing praises to their relationship. Since we're on tumblr, I feel obliged to use the term "cinnamon rolls" in describing Daði and the band. 9.5/10
- France 🇫🇷
Barbara Pravi, Voilà: She brought the theatrics, she brought the drama, and she brought the 101 in "that's how you perform". Her personality leaps through, and her voice is both beautiful and full of emotion and power. I'd hire her to star in a serious and artistic movie. Despite the fact that Voilà is from its melody to the singing style to the video to the vibe and the aesthetic hands down the most French thing I've seen since Amélie (do not come for that movie), it miraculously doesn't come across as a cliché, but rather an homage, and an individualistic one at that. It's not entirely my cup of tea, since I'm usually biased to songs that may come off as snobbish (I mean, the jury is going to lap it up), and are all about being proper and technical and oh how ~artistic~, but Barbara puts the soul into the immaculate. I'm not giving her the highest mark because I'm yet to see the performance, but I'm rooting for her. If she delivers the performance, we might have a clear winner. 9/10
- Ukraine 🇺🇦
Go_A, Shum: I'm a sucker for all things ethnic and mytological, so this was a no-brainer. I want that song played at every party. I want to go to the forest in the video and chant and summon the spring with flute and hard-bass. Kateryna Pavlenko has some unexplainable power over me, and her eyes are simply hypnotizing. The vocals are great, proper Slavic ethno right there (seriously, check out Slavic folklore and traditional music), and she has a subtle punk quality too(?). Ukraine came to save the spring and make us forget about the pandemic, and minus the Maruv fiasco (justice for her!), they always deliver and I expected nothing less. On the other hand, I loved the original version much more and couldn't help but be a bit disappointed with the revamp (yes, I know they had to), and while I personally love Shum, I think some other acts are more deserving of the higher placement. Go_A are not my winner, but definitely soon to be in my playlist. 8/10
- San Marino 🇸🇲
Adrenalina, Senhit ft. Flo Rida: You know that golden age of Eurovision I mentioned? THIS. I'm Serbian, so I can't resist a banger reminiscent of our horrible turbo-folk elements (and I say that endearingly, takes me back to 18th birthday parties (boy I'm glad that's over)). Let's just crown Senhit this year's Queen of Camp. The wild factor of Flo Rida...just?? Amazing. Can't wait to see how the performance goes (EDIT- it went great, I had a grin on my face the entire time and couldn't help but dance along). A certain refreshment after Serhat and Valentina Monetta endless loop. They didn't dial down the weird, but made it catchy af, and the vocal can rival any Balkan folk diva. While I think it's definitely the most entertaining entry this year, it's far from being the most original, and it's not really my genre of preference. Will vote for Senhit and root for her to qualify. 7.5/ 10
- Sweden 🇸🇪
Tusse, A million voices: As I mentioned before, I'm the first person that starts complaining about Sweden Superiority as soon as Eurovision season begins, and I'm with you all with being tired of Sweden qualifying just because they're Sweden and usually just bringing the same brand of MTV/Calvin Harris/American pop, or a successful and not-so-subtle imitation of the performances that did well the previous year, but listen: A million voices is a solid pop song and I'm going to die on that hill. It actually embodies the essence of pop - a catchy, pleasant melody sung by a good vocalist, with a short, sweet and uplifting message. It's not the same as previous years, it's not commercial, just good pop - good pop being something you immediately like and vibe to no matter how many common elements of the genre it checks. It relies on RnB rather than electronic sounds, auto tune or various DJ effects. Tusse is charming and charismatic af, and he's a 19yo kid doing an amazing job on a global stage. You don't have to like it, but there's no need to hate on it (ask Jendrik). Imo, Tusse deserved to qualify. Not winner material yet, but I wish him a fun time and a successful career. 7 5/10
- Switzerland 🇨🇭
G'jons Tears, Tout L'Univers: I saw the video first, and I HATED IT. It came across as a Duncan Lawrence-high-art wannabe, something technically perfect, but empty of soul or meaning, another soft boy with a sad falsetto, another jury-points bait. BUT. I changed my mind entirely after seeing him perform. Hands down, it was touching and epic. Reminding me of Hamlet aside, he DELIVERED, and made me love him, and actually enjoy the song. I still think the song is less original than Tusse's voices, but I enjoy the troubadour vibes of the pre-chours. G'jon is absolutely adorable, and I'm not gonna be mad if he wins. 8/10
shout-outs&honorable mentions:
- Serbia 🇷🇸 Yes, some national bias, but I'm proud of our girls. Ever Since we placed 2nd with Željko's Lane, we had that goddamn flute e v e r y year, and the same outdated scenography with a side of extra pathos (I'm sure that ruined Sanja's chances and her otherwise great performance back in 2016.) Finally something fun and actually representative of the music popular here. They looked flawless and the energy was off the charts. Go, Hurricane!
-Finland 🇫🇮 Yes, cheesy and corny and I cut my finger accidentally from watching the video on all the edge, but I'm biased because they're bringing emo and nu-metal back, and that's the music of my early adolescence (hello, Kaulitz brothers and Andy Biersack, hello Gerard Way and Linkin Park) Call me grandma lol
- Malta 🇲🇹 DESTINY CAN SIIIIIIIIING! I wasn't impressed with the song initially, but the performance blew my mind.
- Ireland 🇮🇪 A for effort, and so nice of her to try and give us something unique! While it wasn't good enough to qualify, it was super fun and she seems so nice. Also, we all know that she was out of breath an can sing much better than that. Still wasn't bad.
- Romania 🇷🇴, for being so young and brave enough to put on a show. The nerves got the better of her, but the song itself is good and no doubt she'll do well in the future
- Lithuania 🇱🇹, thanks for the memeries
- Croatia 🇭🇷, Not my cup of tea, but Albina gave a great performance
-Norway 🇳🇴, for embodying the spirit of Eurovision
- North Macedonia 🇲🇰, for the disco chest
- The UK 🇬🇧, for putting some effort

would you like to ever do a riarkle enemies to lovers fic? because i've seen only like 2 enemies to lovers riarkle fics and i think it'd be really cool to see them in a different dynamic
oh WOULD I
yes i would and i loved every minute of writing this. it’s based VERY LOOSELY on my experience as a hostess in the popular chain italian restaurant we all know and love
anyway, enjoy!!
ao3 link or read below
//
Riley doesn’t intend on making any enemies when she starts working at the restaurant.
It just sort of . . . happens.
She’d like to think she has the supposed “Big Five” personality traits on lockdown—she’s a very agreeable person, incredibly open with others, positively extroverted, astute in conscientiousness, and her neuroticism . . .
Well, she could maybe stand to work on it a bit, but can she be calm? Absolutely.
There’s just something about Farkle Minkus that makes her want to drive a spork into her leg, though.
It’s a weird sort of dichotomy they form together, despite not being too different from one another. They hold the same sort of power in the restaurant—she’s a host, he’s a busser, and they both get paid minimum wage. While she guides the guests around the restaurant, he cleans up tables and spills, and there should be no reason for the animosity that they harbor for another.
If you ask Riley, she’d chalk it up to her first busy night at the restaurant. The night had bogged her down as she ran around the restaurant, seating guests and refilling anything they needed if she happened to be passing by them. At one point, she’d been asked to help bus tables—something she knew she’d be awful at—and he’d strolled up to her while she was trying to pick up plates, taking them from her grasp forcefully.
“Look, if you’re going to help, then actually do something useful. You’re moving about as slow as a turtle and it’s infuriating,” he had grumbled to her. “Why don’t you go be a good host and greet people with a fake smile and annoying personality?”
Yeah, that’d cinch the nail in the coffin for anyone, she assumes.
How dare he say she had an annoying personality! She was a freakin’ charm to have around, and most of the people working at the restaurant already got along with her. Why was it so hard for him to accept that fact?
Riley didn’t wish to dwell on it, so she didn’t. But she did make enemies with Farkle that night, point blank.
 //
“Hey Minkus, mind bussing those tables I asked you to bus twenty minutes ago?” Riley calls into the headset. She’d been fed up with another busy night, and Farkle’s attitude was not cutting it for her. She nearly startled when he rounded the corner, though, his permanent look of disdain greeting her.
“You know, bussers don’t just clean tables. In fact, they actually have to listen when managers ask them to do other tasks around the restaurant,” he says, adjusting the sleeves of his black button-up that he had pushed up his forearms.
“And you know I need tables, yeah? We’re on a wait,” Riley argues back. He gives her one last glare before disappearing back into the dining rooms, and Riley hears someone whistle behind her back.
“You know you egg him on just as much as he does you, right?” Maya, one of the servers who’s quickly become her best friend at the restaurant, tells her, leaning against the host stand. Riley shakes her head.
“Not true. He started it, anyway!”
“And you can’t let bygones be bygones?”
“Why on earth should I do that?” Riley asks, incredulous. Maya shrugs.
“I dunno. Besides the fact that the two of you have undeniable chemistry? Or similar personalities? Or the same friend groups around here?”
“What do you mean ‘undeniable chemistry’? We hate each other!” Riley exclaims.
“We often harbor love under the guise of hatred,” Maya states, earning her a disgusted expression from Riley.
“Don’t you have tables to serve?”
“After your boyfriend cleans them up, yeah.”
“He’s not my boyfriend!!” Riley shouts after her friend as she leaves, the sound of chuckling fading off around the corner.
 //
“So Zay calls out and you’re the only person who can fill his role as a host tonight?” Riley asks Farkle, exasperated. It’s a little strange to see him sans apron, standing at the host stand like he’s the same level as her.
He’s not.
“Imagine, being ungrateful that someone was able to pick up his shift so you wouldn’t be on your own. Are you always this disagreeable in the morning or is that just how you are normally?” he counters.
Riley moves to continue their argument, but guests wander up to the host stand, so she drops it for the sake of doing the job she’s being paid for. She insists on seating them in the system and then guiding them to their table, sure that Farkle will mess it up somehow. When she returns, he’s got a smug grin on his face that causes her blood to boil.
“What’s the face for?” she prods.
“Well, if I didn’t have one it’d be quite disturbing, frankly,” he snarks back. Riley would throw things at him, if she didn’t have to keep her cool for the sake of the job.
“What’s the face for?” she tries again, this time more forcefully.
“I like that you won’t let me do anything. I could make your job ten times easier by seating tables for you, but you insist on taking care of everything. Are you really that stubborn?”
“Kettle meet pot,” she huffs, turning away from him with arms crossed and nose stuck high in the air. He simply laughs and the two of them return to silence soon after, refusing to engage any further in conversation for the rest of their shifts.
 //
The restaurant holds a potluck for Thanksgiving two days before the actual holiday. It’s a tradition set by the general manager that a lot of people enjoy engaging in, and after further convincing from Maya, Riley decides to attend. Besides, Lucas is going to be there, and she may have the smallest, tiniest of crushes on him.
Whatever. Doesn’t matter.
Riley does prepare a dish at the behest of Maya (Maya could probably goad her into anything at this point, really). She wants to do macaroni and cheese, but when she hears that Darby is going to she attempts to figure something else out, but Maya reassures her.
“Darby makes it from the box,” she explains, “And it’s always the worst. I love her, but she finds a way to ruin even the simplest of foods.”
“So it’s really okay if I make macaroni and cheese? My grandma really does have an awesome recipe for it . . .”
“Riley,” Maya says, stern, “I think I speak for everyone when I say please, for the love of god make that mac. We need quality mac this year for once.”
She doesn’t work that day, so Maya tells her she’ll pick her up right before the potluck. Riley sleeps in and then spends the rest of her hours preparing the macaroni and cheese fresh, spending a little bit of the extra time for showering, dressing, and maybe putting on a little bit of makeup.
Riley pulls the dish out of the oven with a minute to spare, grabbing a box to hold it in so it doesn’t burn her and the rest of her things, heading out the door when she receives a message from Maya telling her that she’s waiting outside. She pulls together all her things and makes a mad dash for the door, joining her friend inside the car so that they can drive off to their workplace.
Riley has to admit she’s a bit nervous—she’s been working there only a couple of months, and while she does get along with everyone, she knows she’s still new, still not quite a perfect fit in this little carefully constructed family. She hopes that this will aid to ease her anxiety and make her feel a little more solidified in their group and that she’ll just have a good time in general. This job . . . she’s grown to care for it, more than she’d care to admit.
They pull up outside the restaurant and Riley jumps out once they’ve parked, grabbing her macaroni and cheese and tailing behind Maya once she’s retrieved her own dessert from the back seat of the car. The doors click as they lock and the two of them walk inside, Maya with confidence and Riley a tad skittish behind her. They greet the two hosts manning the front, having to miss out on the celebration for a moment, and then head towards the back dining room where their party is taking place.
“Maya! Riley! Glad you two could join us,” their general manager Jon greets them. “You two can go ahead and set your food down at the tables over there and we’ll get ready to eat in a few minutes.”
They nod and do as they’re told, Riley splitting off from Maya to set her food on the table closest to her while Maya sets her dish down on the dessert table. She waits to take cue from Maya, embarrassed to be tailing her like a dog, but shakes the feeling as Maya takes a seat at one of the booths. Riley joins her, realizing one moment too late that Maya’s chatting up Farkle Minkus of all people.
“You bring anything for us, Minkus?” Maya asks, engaging him in conversation. Farkle snorts.
“God no. The last thing we need is me exploding a kitchen from my poor cooking skills. There’s a reason I’m a busser and not on the line.”
“Don’t you have a cook or something rich people can afford who can do things for you?” Maya snarks.
“Would you laugh if I say yes?” Farkle sighs, earning him a cackle from Maya.
Riley tries to restrain her curiosity, but it’s already been piqued—if Farkle is rich, then why is he working as a busser at a chain restaurant?
Whatever. Riley doesn’t care.
She spends the rest of Maya and Farkle’s conversation on the outside listening in, not really wanting to participate in conversation with Farkle because he’s, well, Farkle. Maya seems to respect her feelings, not pestering her to join, and for that Riley is thankful. She just waits in her seat patiently, ready for the eating portion of their get-together to start. Unfortunately, she has to wait another fifteen minutes for that, but half-way through she gets distracted because of Lucas’ appearance, trying her best to work up the courage to talk to him. He’s still in his work uniform—black button-up and black work pants, the sleeves rolled up mid-forearm—and it shouldn’t work for him but it does.
Right as she finally rises from her seat, deciding that she will talk to him, their general manager announces that it’s time for them to eat. He pulls them all into a quick little prayer before allowing people to start grabbing food, and by then Lucas is caught up in his own conversation with the people he’s friends with at work. Riley sighs, giving up as she joins Maya and Farkle at the buffet line their manager put together. She piles the food on her plate and then sits back down at their little booth, uncharacteristically quiet as Maya and Farkle sit back down.
“Okay, I swear to you that Yogi’s changed the recipe for this green bean casserole. It actually tastes good this year,” Maya says.
“I’ll take your word for it. I don’t do mushrooms,” Farkle tells her, wrinkling his nose at it.
“Do you not like mushrooms either, Riley?” Maya asks her, finally inviting her in to start talking. Riley shakes her head.
“No, I just don’t really like green bean casserole.”
“Holy shit,” Farkle interjects through a mouthful of food, “Darby’s really stepped it up with the macaroni and cheese. This stuff tastes like heaven.”
Riley stops, her mouth dropping open in surprise at his words. Maya’s mouth turns upwards into a brilliant, shit-eating grin that Riley just wants to wipe off her face but knows she can’t. It’s too late; the damage is done.
“That’s because Darby didn’t make it,” Maya tells him, the excitement unrestrained in her voice, “Riley did.”
Farkle registers her words, his chewing slowing down as realization dawns on his face. She half-expects him to spit it out, to retract his statement or do something else drastic, but he doesn’t. He swallows the mouthful of macaroni and cheese, sets his fork down, and meeting Riley’s gaze says, “This is really, really fantastic macaroni and cheese, Riley. Some of the best I’ve ever had. Good job.”
Riley will admit, she didn’t think Farkle would be the one to extend the olive branch between the two of them, but he does it all the same. She recognizes that her response to him will make or break the situation, but she’s not one to drop a compliment, especially one that has her blushing furiously. She can’t control it, not really, and she definitely can’t control the bashful smile that graces her face, so what the hell.
“Thanks, Farkle. I’m glad you enjoy it,” she tells him sincerely, her words startling him, too. But then he beams a grin back and Riley knows she can no longer be mad at him, not after that.
 Damnit.
 //
Friendship with Farkle after Thanksgiving is practically flawless. Riley doesn’t want to tell Maya she’s right because Maya will hold it over her for the rest of forever, but Riley and Farkle really do have a lot in common. He makes it easy to be his friend, so much so that she forgets she was ever mad at him and that she didn’t like him at all. They spend a good portion of their day complaining about someone or something from work and when they aren’t talking about that, they’re talking about outer space or their favorite tv shows or just anything.
It’s kind of ridiculous, but then again, Riley absolutely loves it. It makes working at least ten times easier now that they get along, but if anyone notices it, they don’t mention it aloud. The restaurant moves on with its day as if nothing has changed, but Riley is privy to the shift.
Regardless, their friendship is still brand new, still hanging on by a tumultuous thread. It’s something Riley can’t quite define, but it feels like the foundations are still shaky, like there’s something else that rests in the air between them when their conversations reach a lull during a slow day.
Maya voices her opinion on the subject after Riley mentions it while they’re getting ready for a costume party Sarah’s holding (“Halloween in December,” Sarah tells Riley, “It’s kinda my thing.”) Maya’s finished putting on her sexy ringmaster costume and has moved onto applying her makeup while Riley tries to wrangle and curl her hair into submission.
“It’s because you like him,” Maya tells her, working on her winged eyeliner with Bobby Fisher-like intensity.
“What? No I don’t,” Riley insists. “Farkle and I just became friends.”
“And this is supposed to deter my opinion on that? I already told you before that you had undeniable chemistry. But now you two actually get along, so now you can’t hide it.”
Riley has half a mind to make Maya mess up her eyeliner, but she’s not cruel. She’ll just remain disgruntled about the matter for the rest of the night.
Maya helps Riley with the rest of her angel costume after her hair is curled completely, and once they’ve pulled Riley’s wings on, they grab their things and leave Maya’s house. Maya drives them to the party and when they pull up, Riley has to admit that while she knew a lot of people were going to attend the party, she didn’t know this many people would be here. Cars line the empty space around Sarah’s place and partygoers are already hanging out on the lawn, enjoying themselves as the music blasts from inside the house.
Riley feels a nervous energy course within her as they walk up the sidewalk to the house. She’s excited for the party, she really is, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t anxious about it, too. All of that washes away the moment she and Maya step inside, their friends greeting them happily and complimenting their costumes.
“Oh my god, you guys finally made it!” Zay exclaims, a wide grin on his face. “Those costumes are dope as hell!”
“Thanks, of course they are,” Maya says, winking at him slyly. “But what are you supposed to be?”
Zay flashes his teeth, revealing a set of pointed fangs on the top and bottom.
“Teen Wolf!”
“That is both lame and fantastic,” Maya laughs, then turns to search the room. “Farkle here yet?”
“Yeah, last I saw he was playing beer pong with Lucas and couple of others. Why don’t you two get some drinks and then we’ll head that way,” he suggests. Maya nods and they follow him to what Riley supposes is the kitchen. He mixes them up a couple of drinks and hands them off to them, chuckling when Riley sniffs hers and scrunches her nose in disgust.
“Jeez, how much alcohol did you put in this, Zay?” she asks.
“Enough. Now drink up and let’s go, Matthews!”
She sighs and gives in, stealing a sip as they make their way to where Farkle and Lucas are. She almost gags at the pungent liquor smell again but drinks it anyway. It’s a good thing, too, because when they find the supposed beer pong tournament, it’s not Lucas who has her heart racing.
“Maya,” Farkle greets her when he spots her, but when his gaze lands on Riley, he practically beams. “Riley! I’m so glad you could make it!”
Words seem to fail Riley right now. She’s not sure why she’s feeling so off but seeing Farkle dressed as gladiator has sent her off-kilter. He looks so damn good in his costume and she starts debating whether or not she should abandon the drink Zay gave her altogether if it’s making her act like this.
“Hey, Farkle, good to see you, too,” she finally manages awkwardly, huffing in embarrassment before backing her drink like there’s no tomorrow. So much for abandoning it.
“Whoa,” Maya gasps, rushing over to Riley’s side, “What are you doing?! I thought you told me earlier you were going to take it easy.”
“I lied. Wanna make me another drink? I’m gonna need it,” she insists, ushering Maya back to the kitchen. As soon as they’ve made it, Maya shakes Riley off of her, glaring at her.
“What the hell was that about?!” she yells. Riley opens her mouth to say something, but then closes it again as she goes through the five stages of grief in her mind. After a moment of silence and Maya waving her hand sporadically in Riley’s face to bring her back to earth, she says,
“I couldn’t be there anymore. I need more alcohol if I’m going to get through this night.”
“I don’t get why you’re acting like this? You were fine until we—” Maya pauses, then realization dawns on her face, “Oh!”
“Maya—”
“Holy shit, you don’t wanna go back there because you think Farkle looks hot in his costume. This is hilarious.”
“No it’s not! I don’t have feelings for him, I just think he looks . . . really good,” Riley tries, but Maya’s already grinning like an idiot.
“Now we have to get back there. I’m going to try so hard to set the two of you up it’s not even funny.”
“I don’t need your help! I don’t wanna be set up!” Riley exclaims, but it’s too late. Her decision has been made.
“I’ll make you a drink and then I’m gonna get you alone with Farkle. It’s gonna be fantastic.”
Riley groans, knowing she’s fighting a losing battle.
She does loosen up a bit after she’s finished off the second drink, but that doesn’t mean she’s gonna give into her friend’s plan.
And Maya does follow up on her promise despite Riley’s every effort to make it hard for them to be alone—after many failed attempts, she forces them in a spin the bottle circle. Riley only agrees to it because she’s borderline drunk and doesn’t care about a quick kiss with anyone, but when she finds out that whoever the bottle lands on is sent to the closet for seven minutes in heaven, she tries to run.
But it’s too late.
Maya’s spinning skills are off the charts, the bottle ends landing between Riley and Farkle. Everyone whoops and hollers at them except for Riley and Farkle themselves, but they still go follow the rules begrudgingly, allowing themselves to be shoved into a closet for everyone else’s entertainment.
“Go get ‘em, tiger!” Maya’s muffled yell erupts from beyond the closed door. Riley sighs.
“You know we don’t have to do anything in here, right?” Farkle tells her. “I’m not gonna force you to do something you don’t want to do.”
“Really?” Riley asks, spinning to turn and look at him, but that ends up being a mistake. She’d misjudged just how small the closet was, and she ends up pressed against him, his arms gripping her biceps when she stumbles a bit from the alcohol.
Whatever words Farkle wanted to say have since died on his lips, if his comically large eyes were anything to go by. Riley knows she’s gone though when she finds herself lost in the stormy gray irises of his, her brain actually entertaining the thought of kissing him.
It wouldn’t be so bad if I did, right? her brain asks her.
Right, her heart agrees.
Testing a theory, Riley’s hands rise to rest gently against Farkle’s cheeks. His breath stutters as soon as her fingers grace his skin, and she knows there’s no going back when she glances at his mouth before leaning in.
This is such a bad idea, she tells herself, But I don’t think I care enough to stop it.
Right when mouth is only centimeters away from Farkle’s, close enough that she can feel his breath ghosting her lips, the closet door swings open. Farkle and Riley jump apart, and whatever spell befell her has washed away, leaving confusion in its wake.
“Alright you two, get out so the rest of us can have some fun!” someone shouts. Riley nods and ditches Farkle, grabbing Maya by the arm and tugging her outside urgently.
“What the hell, Riley?” Maya grumbles as soon as they stop in what Riley deems is a quiet area.
“I think I have a crush on Farkle. I have a crush on Farkle, don’t I?” Riley asks.
“No shit,” Maya says, rolling her eyes, “You kind of made that abundantly clear tonight. But after all that hard work I went through you didn’t even follow through!”
“How can you tell?” Riley frowns.
“Because your lipstick is still perfectly fine, red as can be. If you kissed him, it’d be smudged and all over his mouth. Plus, I don’t really think Farkle would’ve survived it. I think he’d probably need to sit down for the next century in order to process it all.”
“You’re the worst,” Riley whines. Maya pats her shoulders sympathetically.
“I know, Sunshine. I know.”

Riley’s never been one to know how to act around crushes, but her crush on Farkle has rendered her absolutely neurotic. She still talks to him, of course, but she has a harder time starting conversations. What would he even want to talk about? Does he even want to talk with her?
It’s Riley’s favorite pastime, going into the land of overthinking. She excels at it a little too well.
After two weeks of utter turmoil and downright awkward interactions with Farkle, she thinks that maybe she’s just eternally hopeless. Whatever she might feel for Farkle doesn’t matter, because she can’t even figure out how to just be around him. She may as well just quit while she’s ahead and just give up on the hopes of ever being near him again.
Unfortunately, she doesn’t get that option.
Her manager suggests one morning that Farkle help her unload the boxes of wine they just got in, and when Farkle asks if she wants help, she says yes. Normally, she’s used to unloading it all on her own, but the thought of spending quality time with him is just too tempting to pass up and her brain is just dumb dumb dumb.
The restaurant is quiet as they unload each case of wine, save for the never-ending music selection on repeat with eight versions of the same five songs. But it’s nice, sharing a moment with him where they don’t have to talk about anything, just stock wine in the coolers.
Nice, of course, up until their fingers brush up against one another’s, sending electricity coursing straight through Riley’s system. She wonders if he feels it, too, but she doesn’t have to worry any longer when his gaze finally meets hers, the shock apparent on his face. They endure a long moment of silence until Riley can bear it no more, the words falling out of her mouth unbidden.
“Farkle, I really really like you. As in like like you,” Riley blurts.
“Oh thank god,” he breathes before pulling her in for a kiss.
It shouldn’t be great kiss, by all means—they’re both kneeling behind the host stand, the cooler doors open and bottles of wine still waiting to be stocked while a jazzy version of Wonderwall plays in the background. But that doesn’t matter to Riley; she’s with Farkle and they’re kissing and she never wants this moment to end.
It does, though.
“Ahem,” a voice clears their throat, causing Riley and Farkle to split. She has an oh shit moment when she thinks it might be their manager who’s caught them kissing while on the clock, but then it’s even worse when Riley realizes who it is.
“Oh. Hey, Maya,” Farkle greets her sheepishly, earning him a cackle from Maya.
“This is fantastic! I love being right!” she shouts.
Riley buries her head in Farkle’s shoulder in embarrassment, but she smiles secretly—
She loves that Maya was right, too.
