Survey for/about Female Comic Fans!
Hi everyone! I’m in the process of conducting a small-scale research project for an undergraduate class and was wondering if any of you would be down to take and/or share a survey about female fans in male-dominated fandoms like comics. It should only take about 5-10 minutes, and it’s 100% confidential. I have attached the link below.
I have to get at least 25 responses by the end of the week, so I would really appreciate it if you shared the survey with your friends, mutuals, etc.
Thank you for reading! :)

ALL-STAR COMICS (vol. 1) #25 (Summer, 1945). Cover by Joe Gallagher, with Flash and Green Lantern figures by Martin Naydel.
This was the issue of All-Star Comics that Flash and Green Lantern returned to full-time membership in the Justice Society, after being honorary members for a few years. That was because the JSA's by-laws stated that any member with their own, self-named comic could only be honorary members.
Which is why Superman and Batman were never full-time members back in the day, at least during the Golden Age. The rule never seemed to apply to Wonder Woman, even though she had her own book as well, because she was initially not a full member, just the recording secretary.
The REAL reason Flash and Green Lantern were brought back, however, was to replace the Spectre and Starman, who were originally written into the story.
This is because DC Comics (actual name Detective Comics) and All-American Publications, both of which had contributed characters to All-Star Comics (making it the first, true intracompany crossover), were currently not working together. That meant that no DC heroes were to appear as members of the JSA.
If you look at the above cover you'll notice that there is no "A Superman - DC Comic" logo, which most All-American Publications' books had displayed. It's been replaced with the new "An All-American Publication" logo.
So the Spectre and Starman, both DC superheroes, were out (the script was written before the companies broke up). They were re-drawn in the story as Flash and Green Lantern, and that explains Martin Naydel had to draw them onto Joe Gallagher's original cover.
The split between DC and All-American lasted through 1945. By 1946 All-American was bought out by DC, and the two companies were merged into National Comics.

Yeah, Transformers are cool and all, there's no way I won't enjoy reading about post-biological alien creatures in a perpetual conflict over their system of beliefs, but I'm sorry Hasbro nothing will make me read or watch G.I. Joe, that's where I draw the line, nothing more joyless to me than the military
#unless it's a subversion of the military like star trek or 80s captain atom#and even then...#it depends a lot#this is not to shit on the creators though - writers and artist should be free to create whatever#i just don't think it's for me you know? like i see the characters holding guns and the “american hero” thing i just... can't#i can read ABOUT g.i. joe though#it must be interesting to understand how their stories changed considering the impact of international conflicts#and the public perception of the military - this is a comic that's been active since the 1940s#how were the comics an influence to the readers... i wonder - they should make a documentary on that#SO MANY comic books and series deserve documentaries to be honest... they are so directly a product of the current culture#rambling#comics
