Earth 2-Barry Allen x Male!reader headcanons

*I'm currently doing a rewatch of the arrowverse and got to the earth 2 episodes and earth 2 Barry was so adorable I just had to write something for him. Anyways here's a quick recap for earth 2 for anyone who's forgotten because I surely did; Barry is still a forensic scientist, Iris is a detective, Joe is a lounge singer, Caitlin, Ronnie and Cisco are all evil metas and I brought Eddie back just for fun since Barry is with reader

And Barry came back during Wally's Christmas issue. Which gives a hilarious visual where Hal got proposed to by Carol and then comically got a phone call about Barry being alive and booked it out of there to go see him

Girl Genius Pre-Canon Timeline

I just binge-read through the archives again, and decided to finally sort though all the time cues we get for the 20-odd years before the story starts. Years are based on the date on Klaus Barry Heterodyne's memorial, in conjunction with Agatha's age, and a lot of "it's been X years" remarks made during flashbacks. I'm only using information from the webcomic, since I don't have the novels on hand.

Late 1869- mid 1870: Lucrezia Mongfish accepts Bill Heterodyne's proposal; disappearance of Klaus Wulfenbach

?1870?: Birth of Gilgamesh Wulfenbach*

?1871?: Birth of Tarvek Sturmvoraus*

1872: Birth of Bill and Lucrezia's eldest child, Klaus Barry Heterodyne (2 years 3 months after Klaus Wulfenbach's disappearance)

Before 1873: Birth of Theopholous DuMedd, son of Serpentina Mongfish. His aunt Lucrezia attended his christening, which therefore must have taken place sometime before her disappearance.

1873 (or January 1874): The Other attacks Castle Heterodyne, killing Klaus Barry (age 407 days / 13 months) and 63 castle staff including Carson Von Mekkan's son (and possibly also Dr. Mongfish**). Disappearance of Lucrezia. Bill and Barry Heterodyne leave Mechanicsburg to fight the Other. Beginning of continent-wide warfare and chaos.

1874: Birth of Agatha Heterodyne (<9 months after attack on Castle Heterodyne, probably at least 4- 5 months after, since Lucrezia was apparently not showing at the time of her disappearance).

c.1874-1875: “A few years” after the destruction of Castle Heterodyne (per Carson), and “about 18 years” before the main story starts (per the authors in the now-defunct list of all characters appearing in the story), Bill & Barry Heterodyne disappear.

c.1875-77: Attacks from the Other stop shortly after the Heterodyne Boys disappear. Klaus Wulfenbach returns to Europa, builds the airship Castle Wulfenbach and ends the wars, making an empire in the process. At some point, he starts a school for the children of rulers and powerful sparks.

1877/8: TPU expedition to Castle Heterodyne, which lasts 6 months; during that time, Klaus Wulfenbach takes over Mechanicsburg

1878: Klaus Wulfenbach begins imprisoning troublesome sparks in Castle Heterodyne

?1878?: Gilgamesh Wulfenbach breaks through as a spark at age 8. Tarvek is sent home from Castle Wulfenbach at some point before this.

??At some point before 1879 (and probably after 1875) Barry returns with Agatha; they are constantly moving, and Barry keeps their identities a secret, even from his old friends.

1879: Agatha, age 5, begins to break through as a spark.

1881: Barry Heterodyne disappears again, leaving Agatha in the care of Adam & Lilith Clay in Beetleburg.

1889: Tarvek takes Tinka from Master Payne's circus and reverse-engineers her to make a clank body for his mortally-wounded sister Anevka.

1892: The Story Begins... (spring/summer 1892)

1894-5: The Story Resumes (deep winter, after a 2.5 year time-skip).

*I think the novelization mentions Gil being 22 when the story starts (which is the age listed on the fan wiki, no source cited), but it's been years since I read it, so here I'm sticking to the information in the comic itself. This is a rough estimate, since we don't have a ton to go on: we know that Gil was born during his father's exile and accompanied him back to Europa, which puts his birth year at no earlier than 1870 and no later than 1875. Gil is finished with college by time the story starts, suggesting that he is older than Agatha (who is 18 and still a student at that point), but he also appears to have returned to Castle Wulfenbach relatively recently (having run into none of his old friends, who also haven't noticed that a certain empty laboratory is now his flight lab). Around age 8, Gil was friends with Tarvek, which suggests they are probably of a similar age. If taken literally, Tarvek's remark about being ~3 years old when his father was collaborating with the Other (c.1874 and before) puts his birth year around 1871. Like Gil, Tarvek has finished college before the story starts, and was apparently back in Sturmhalten at least three years before the story.

**The lengthy but defunct character list has Dr. Mongfish dying in an attack on Castle Heterodyne. We only know of one such attack, though it's possible this refers to a separate, earlier event. However, his grandson Theo Dumedd's (fictional) story of the Heterodynes' disappearance puts Dr. Mongfish as alive up to that point--and while many parts of the timeline don't fit this fictional story, I think it's weak evidence that Dr. Mongfish didn't die or disappear conspicuously earlier.

Bruce rolled his eyes as he listened to the board members arguing in the background over the phone while he talked to his CFO Lucius Fox. They were trying to push a vote on expanding Wayne Enterprise to Canada. Most were for it. They just couldn’t agree on where the corporate headquarters should be. The places being thrown around were Toronto, Quebec City, Halifax, and Vancouver. Bruce honestly didn’t care about where they built, but his board members fought back that it was all about location, location, location. 

Lucius sighed and said, “If it wasn’t for the fact that you pay me handsomely for this bullshit, I would have bailed on these idiots an hour ago.”

Bruce smirked and asked, “So it isn’t the box seat passes that I got you for the Giants’ games for the rest of the season?”

Lucius chuckled and said, “Oh, that definitely took the edge off.” Lucias paused for a moment and said, “What exactly do you want me to do with this stalemate they have about Canada? We tried holding a vote but ended up with equal votes for all the cities.”

Bruce rubbed his head for a moment and said, “Have one of the associates make out a proposal for the mayor of each of those respective cities. We know what we can offer in terms of job opportunities and increasing value to the city. See what the representatives can offer us in terms of tax breaks and things of that nature. Whoever offers us the best benefits is the one we go with.”

Lucius sighed and said, “This is why I wished you were here with us an hour ago. We could have ended the meeting in five minutes with an idea like that.”

Bruce chuckled and said, “I needed to be here for Damian. This is an important milestone for him.”

“Are you sure you are not using this as an excuse to get out of a board meeting? Disneyland was a weird choice, but I have seen you choose stranger places to avoid the Board.”

Bruce rolled his eyes and said, “Damian really did have a field trip for Disney. I wasn’t going to let him go by himself. The PTA already think I am an idiot and absentminded as it is….”

Lucius burst out laughing for a few minutes. 

Bruce narrowed his eyes and asked, “What’s so funny?”

Lucius’ laugh started tapering off and said, “I’m sorry. I just never thought that you of all people would care what other people think. Imagine what your opposition in your second life would think.”

Bruce gave a deadpan stare and said, “Ha, Ha. Very funny.”

Lucius chuckled and said, “You know I’m kidding right?”

Bruce smiled coyly and said, “Sure you are.”

“Anyway, how is Damian taking to Disney? I’m sure it is different to the other eclectic things he has been exposed to in his childhood.”

Bruce sighed while rubbing the back of his head. He knew going to Disney would be a very foreign concept for his youngest, but he didn’t expect him to fight him the whole way. Or maybe it was wishful thinking. It would definitely explain the looks his other three boys gave him when he mentioned their trip. Dick and Jason just bursted out laughing at the suggestion and Tim started to do research into securing Damian an attorney in case he decided to burn the theme park down in vengeance. 

Bruce shook his head and said, “Damian hasn’t taken too kindly being here. He has already pressed the panic button he has twice to try to get Tim to pick him up since he is with the Titans this week in California. When that didn’t work, he tried to ditch me to go back to the main road to hitchhike before I caught up with him.”

“Considering his other antics are you really surprised by this?”

Bruce sighed and said, “My three older boys have already indicated the same thing. I just want him to have people his age to associate with.”

Bruce looked out the corner of his eye and noticed Lena coming back with several Dole Whips.

While looking at her thoughtfully, Bruce said, “Lucius, if there isn’t anything else, I am going to have to call you back after I get back to Gotham on Monday.”

“Okay, hope things go better with Damian this weekend.”

“You and me both,” muttered Bruce under his breath as he hung up the phone. 

He quickly changed his frown to a passive smile as Lena finally walked up to him. 

Lena smiled and said while handing him a Dole Whip, “Damian and Kara wanted some. I got some for you in case you wanted one as well.”

Bruce gave her a blank stare. He knew that Kara trusted her implicitly, but he still had some nagging thoughts about her. 

Lena chuckled nervously and said, “If you don’t want it, that is fine. I can just give it to Kara. She would probably be excited at the prospect of having two more.”

Bruce let out his charming smile which took Lena off guard for a moment. 

Bruce said, “I would actually like to try some. Some of my employees have talked wonders about this so I am curious if it lives up to all the hype.”

Bruce took the cup from Lena. He began to eat. His eyebrow went up in surprise. He knew that this was similar to ice cream but this is the best ice cream that he has had in a while.

Lena smirked and said, “I take it this means that it far exceeded your expectations.”

Bruce chuckled and said, “Definitely.”

They stood in weird silence with one other. Bruce could tell that Lena kept nervously looking around. Probably wish that Kara would come back as quickly as possible. Originally, Bruce thought about keeping silent until his son and Kara came back but then saw it as an opportunity to get to know the girl. Clark hadn’t been too keen on anyone approaching Lena. Several veiled threats were made if anyone did. If asked, he could use this as an innocent run-in, although he can hear it now from Clark accusing him that it was planned. 

He sighed and said, “Kara has said that you run a children’s hospital.”

Lena smiled and let out a sigh of relief and said, “Yes. I believe in the importance of getting children the best healthcare they could as possible no matter what the cost.”

“What caused you to want to focus on children’s health though?”

Lena looked up thoughtfully and said, “My niece Ruby inspired me actually. She was sick. Most doctors thought it was a cold or at most the flu and said with just over-the-counter medicine it would go away. However, she kept getting sicker and nothing was working. We went to doctor after doctor until one actually did their research and found out what was wrong with her and got her the treatment that she needed to get well. I don’t want any family to have to go through that. Being dismissed and thinking that your concerns aren’t valid. I wanted to have doctors look into everything instead of looking at what is most common. That is when I decided to scout for the best of the best in pediatrics and start my own hospital.”

Bruce gave her an insightful look. Many had regarded Lena using her hospital for nefarious purposes, but he has seen that the commercial that Kara and Lena did a couple of weeks back had changed the discourse around it. Now, more patients have been giving reviews and it has been overall positive. It was good to know that Lena created the hospital as a way to inspire change. Bruce was about to comment as such when he heard his phone ring again. He sighed and looked down and saw that Alfred was calling. He looked at Lena sheepishly and mouthed “One moment.”

1. A Brighter Future

"Why don’t you like them?”

“How could you be so careless Barry? How could you get into bed with a criminal? A murderer? I raised you better than this! No son of mine would ever stoop this low-” Barry shut his eyes tight to try and push away the illusion Sophia was conjuring from his emotions, tears starting to fall from his eyes when Iris’ heartbroken voice joined in with Joe’s disgusted one.

“He’s dead because of you! It should have been you! I lost the man I was going to marry for a future I don’t even want! I wish I’d never met you Barry Allen!”

“Soph-Soph, please stop.”

2. Cause Maybe You're That Thing I Need To Save Me

"Cisco and Lisa-they're engaged now and they were going through a bunch of the Rouge's abandoned safehouse and Cisco-he found an old sweater of yours and he vibed you. He said you were alive but we weren't sure so we uh-went looking. It took a few months but we finally got a lead and I sped here as quickly as I could to see if it was really true and it is! You're alive! The Legends are going to be so exciting to know you survived! Wait, how did you survive?"

"You can't tell anyone I'm alive Barry, you weren't meant to know I was alive. No one is supposed to know."

"But why? Are you retired now or something?"

"I am actually, so having trouble magnets like yourself show up on my doorstep isn't exactly my idea of a good time. You need to leave and tell your friends at STAR Labs that this was a dead end. No one can know I'm alive, and I'm not above killing you to keep it that way."

3. For Better Or For Worse

“Look,” Laurel sighed heavily, lacing her fingers together over the table as she met Len’s cold stare head on. “I don’t know all the details-yet-but your husband is a very resourceful and connected man, whether he realizes it fully or not. He said part of your vows was to get Mick Rory and you out of here. That’s what I’m here to do, if you want the specifics to how exactly we’re going to pull it off I suggest you ask the mastermind behind all of this craziness.”

“If you think it’s so crazy, why help?”

“Because people's lives are at risk and Barry’s not wrong, if anyone can pull something like this off it’s you and him. Quiet the power couple you two are, honestly. Besides, I’ve never met a person who could say no to that boy’s sweet face. Isn’t that why you agreed?”

4. Got A Lot Of Sins, But You're My Favorite

"So," Angie spoke up from behind the register, leaning her chin on the palm of her hand as she smirked wickedly at Len. "When were you going to tell me you had a crush on the Flash?"

"I don't. I just threatened to kill him-he stole my gun!"

"Yes, and he also looked like he wanted to kiss you senseless while you were pointing said gun in his pretty face."

5. I'd Cross Galaxies To Find You

Waking up next to a crying baby and someone sleeply pushing at his bare shoulder had Barry freezing in terror, not wanting to know how he would die next in this world.

“Baby, baby-go get Nora,”

“Nora?”

“Our daughter, Nora, you know the one you begged my sister to carry for us, the daughter who won’t sleep through the night because she isn’t being rocked at superspeed because her father spoils her rotten. Ring any bells?”

6. It's The Second Glances That Ties Your Hands

"What are you doing here, Len?"

"Well, let's just say my lady and your lord don't really get on–she's cleaning house now that she's free of the Time Masters. Speedsters mucking up the timeline were at the top of her priority list."

"You're here for me?"

7. Love Me Silently

"So help me-you are not proposing to me right now Barry Allen-so think before those next words come out of your mouth."

"See! You want the big grand gesture and a huge wedding to show me off! You want to marry me! He said you'd say no, he said you weren't the type-"

"He's a worried father, Scarlet, I'm not surprised.” Len muttered as he pulled the younger man into his arms, one hand rubbing soothingly over his back while the other cupped his neck lovingly. “Look, I don't want to be the reason you never talk to your foster father again-"

8. You Need To Allow Me To Help

“Did you hear that, Cisco? That dying whale noise? I think it was the last shred of my dignity being forcibly removed from my body, so if you’ll excuse me I’m just going to go drown myself in the boy’s bathrooms—” Barry muttered in panicked embarrassment, rushing off down the hall almost too quickly to see, ignoring his friends calling his name to get him to stop.

“Go after him, you idiot,” Mick huffed, pushing Len forcefully in the direction Barry had disappeared.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” Len answered slowly, his jaw set in a tense line and his eyes hardening over with realization.

9. You Got This Heaven In Your Eyes

'Keep up the exceptional work, Barry Allen, Central City is lucky to have you on their side. -L.S.'

"What's it say?" Eddie questioned, trying to peek over Barry's shoulder to get a look at the snow-white card, his eyes widening comically when he caught sight of the message.

"Uh-to keep up the good work," Barry muttered in confusion, his eyes drifting from the elegant handwriting to the memorising bouquet, not knowing what to think.

"You ruined the guy's fifteen year long not guilty streak and he tells you to keep up the good work?"

"This is weird, right?"

"Very."

10. Side Effects May Include

“It’s complicated, okay! I don’t know how it works. I just know when I’m not here-near you-it's like there's this overwhelming need to run as fast as I can to this-this pull. It never stops, not unless I wake up with you, when I’m near you-it’s like everything freezes.” Barry takes one look at Len’s face and lets out a drawn-out whine.

“Shut up okay, I know you want to make a joke-but it does! It’s like for the first time since I got my powers I can just stand still or sleep since that’s never exactly come easy for me-”

“Do you have a point Barry?”

“The point is for whatever reason my subconscious is latching onto you. Whenever I’m awake I feel this pull like I’m meant to be running somewhere, but I haven’t had the time to really figure out what it means when I’ve been running around stopping bombs and searching for evidence to get my dad out of jail while also trying and failing to stop the man who really killed my mother! I’ve been dealing with a lot lately okay-I barely sleep more than a few hours a week if I even manage that-and every time I do fall asleep I wake up next to you! I’m having these bizarre dreams you keep popping up in and all I want is to sleep for more than an hour at a time!”

After the aftermath - Blupjeans Week day 8 (weeks are longer now, sorry)

When people asked for the proposal story Barry never really knew what to say. They didn’t want to hear “one day Lup said it’d be baller if we made our wedding rings out of bone and I had some at home, so we did it, and look here it is! She did that cool twisty thing here first try. Isn’t she great?” Most people outside their immediate family just did weird squinchy faces about it or looked sympathetic. Barry had no idea why, as far as he was concerned it was perfect, mostly because Lup wanted to marry him and he wasn’t really bothered about anything else. 

“How about the bone church, babe?” Lup asked, stretching her legs out in front of her on their picnic blanket. 

Barry stayed cross legged and hidden from the midday sun in the shade of Lup’s parasol. “I know it’s what your spooky heart longs for, and I want you to have the perfect day, but bones or not it’s still a church.”

“And?”

“We’re not in any way religious? Or, well, the right kind of religious, church religious, obviously I worship you.”

Lup snorted. “Bad. Awful. I love you.”

“I love you too.” Said Barry, and squeezed her hand. “How about the university?” 

“So we don’t have to take leave?”

Barry laughed. “Yeah, we’ll just get Dav to use his captain powers and do it in the 10 minutes between lectures when we rush past each other in the hall on Fridays.”

“Taako would have to be there.” Lup said thoughtfully. “But  I think we could make it work… the drama of the time limit sounds kinda hot.”

“I… No, I mean… that wasn’t a serious suggestion, Lup. I was thinking more like the library, or the fancy hall? We could shove everyone round one of the big dramatic bench tables. “Yeah, they do.” There’s a long pause, a comfortable one. “I wasn’t sure I’d ever have this, you know?” Lup said. Barry didn’t dare say anything yet, Lup didn’t talk about the past a lot. He knew it was a hard topic and he wanted to let her get the thoughts out without interruption so he just squeezed her hand and hoped it conveyed ‘I’m here’, ‘I’’ve got you’, ‘I love you’. “There was just a time in the middle there where I wasn’t sure how we were gonna climb our way out of the shit pit life dropped us in.” 

“But you did.” Added Barry, unable to hide the pride in his voice. Sure, his life hadn’t been a walk in the park, but he’d always had Marlena.

 “We did.” Lup nodded. “And now we’ve built a whole family, and Taako has Kravitz, and I have you.”

“Forever and always.” Said Barry, nodding firmly. “You can’t get rid of me now…” He winced. “Okay, wait, no, that sounded creepy, but you know what I mean.”

This is old news for fans of the CWs the flash and presumably the rest of the extended arrowverse but this fucking crisis on earth x crossover across 4 shows having the WEDDING of TWO MAIN CHARACTERS that has had a season and a half of build up and a PROPOSAL of two DIFFERENT main characters from a DIFFERENT show all in SUPERGIRL. OF ALL PLACES. Which none of those 4 characters are from. Is INFURIATING!!!!!!

I bought the fucking DVD. I bought the goddamn DVD of season 4 of The Flash so I could watch all of the events of season 4 of The Flash and the important things that happened to the people in season 4 of The Flash such as. Say. Getting fucking married. So I watch season 4 episode 6 of The Flash and they say "next episode we are going to get married :)". And then I click on episode 7 and it is called Crisis on Earth X part 3 and I go that's weird. Well maybe this is just where The Flash joins the crossover. During their wedding. Because it would be crazy for them not to put the wedding of two main characters including THE titular Flash on the DVD. And Barry's cheerful little voice goes "previously on Crisis of Earth X" and it shows me a clip of their wedding.

So I go. Fuck you, for one. And for two okay I guess I will find???? Supergirl?? (ew) and watch them get married :3. And find that Supergirl is only streaming on fucking. NowTV. because nobody wants to watch Supergirl. To which I obviously don't have a subscription. So I am reduced to looking up "Barry and Iris wedding" on YouTube dot com of which there are only two scenes. Neither of which feature Cisco for more than a brief cut to him as best man. So what's even the point.

Anyway now I'm watching the DVD part 3 and I am once again asking where is Cisco. Why am I seeing conflicts between Supergirl's sister and (?) A guy from Legends? Or maybe he's a new guy from Earth X? And then cutting from them to an old guy and the guy who had to ask what a pink triangle represented on a human person in a concentration camp (jesus christ?????? Why are they tackling this?????????). And THEN to MORE people from different shows. I haven't seen someone from the Flash for 5 scenes in a row let alone had them be a main character in the scene. Where are MY friends from THE FLASH. The Flash, the show I bought the DVD for!!!! SO I COULD WATCH THE FLASH!!!

Like surely. The appeal of crossovers are to show "here is how the people you already like hang out with people from other shows you either already like, or could like, if you give it a chance". This isn't letting me get to see any of that.

It is nice to see Snart again though. And oh he's a man loving man?? that's nice. Why did they make this like this. Why didn't they put all the episodes on my DVD 😭

A/N: So inspired for this fic, so here's another chap! Enjoy!

Chapter 3 -

Around nine p.m. the following evening, Barry emerged from his bedroom after spending a good couple hours packing up his things in his closet. He still had a week and a half to get through everything, but he figured packing the small things he rarely used wouldn’t hurt. He hadn’t touched anything the day before, too consumed with work and Iris and Cisco kicking him out unmercifully to bother with packing. But today he made a point of doing something, so Cisco wouldn’t get on his nerves. Said nerves were already shattered enough for one week.

“Hey,” Cisco said, popping some pizza pockets into the microwave. “You want some of these?”

Barry wrapped his hand around the back of his head and nodded.

“Uh, sure. Thanks, man.”

“No problem.”

Barry stood awkwardly in the kitchen before finally moving into the living room and plopping down on the couch, waiting for the microwave to beep. He hated that Cisco always let it beep and didn’t stop it before the last second went off. Something he could look forward to not having to put up with once he lived alone, he guessed.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

He rolled his eyes but shrugged his off, smiling half-heartedly when Cisco brought the plate in and set it on the coffee table.

“Bet you won’t miss that,” Cisco said, mimicking the sound the microwave had made.

Barry chuckled.

“I’ll miss it a little,” he admitted.

They shared a smile and both grabbed a pizza pocket, promptly spitting them out simultaneously when they were too hot for either of them to eat.

They both grimaced and then smiled at each other. Surprisingly, beats later Cisco sobered up.

“Listen, Barry, about you moving out…”

Barry tensed up.

“I’m sorry I was so rough about it, like I was shoving you out the door…like our friendship doesn’t mean anything to me when really, it means the world.”

Barry looked down at the floor, Iris momentarily forgotten.

“So, why did you do it? Did Cindy make you do it?”

“No, no, it’s nothing like that. The moving in was my idea.”

Barry frowned.

“Then I don’t-”

“Wait. Just…hold on.”

He got up, dashed into his room, then came out holding a small box that fit in the palm of his hand. Barry’s eyes widened when he saw it was made of velvet.

“Is that…what I think it is?”

Cisco wait till he sat back down, then handed it over to Barry. Sure enough, when Barry opened it a brilliant diamond ring sparkled up at him.

“Wow. I…I don’t know what to say. Congrats, man. I always knew you were crazy in love, but this is on another level.” He closed the box and handed it back.

“Yeah. And I was going to propose, I really was. Get the two of us our own place, and then you could stay here. But Cindy made an offhand comment a couple months ago about how she was nowhere near ready for marriage. I had already bought the ring by then, so there was no going back, at least for me. But she did say she wouldn’t be opposed to moving in with someone as a next step. She said it as if she meant someone else, but the last few weeks she kept dropping hints, kept staying longer when she was over and not wanting to leave, even commented on how much better our shower is than hers.”

Barry scrunched up his nose. He hated their shower.

Cisco noticed and laughed.

“Yeah, exactly. So, I knew something was up. When I asked her hesitantly if she wanted to move in together, she triumphantly exclaimed how she was glad I’d picked up on all her hints to live here.”

“Ah. And you didn’t ask her to clarify?”

“No, no, I did. She went on to say how despite loving you as a friend, she really wanted this to be our space, as in hers and mine. I didn’t know what to say to that, but I was just so glad she was down with getting more serious that I let it lie.” He sighed. “I shouldn’t have done that. I’ve known you longer, and it wasn’t fair to just…demand you leave like it was nothing.”

“Thanks, Cisco. I really appreciate that.” He smiled faintly. “But, as it turns out, it may be for the best.”

“Oh, yeah? Why’s that?”

“Well, having my own place will certainly make it easier to have dates over.”

Cisco snorted.

“Since when have you even tried to bring dates home? I mean, it’s been months, hasn’t it? If not over a year?”

“Well…” he squeaked.

“Unless there’s someone now that you happen to fancy,” he joked, but Barry’s eyes locked on his. “No. Uh-uh. Absolutely not.”

“What?” Barry asked, confused…sort of.

Cisco shot up the same time as his phone rang in his pocket.

“You cannot bang Iris!”

Barry’s jaw dropped. He went to protest, to say he wanted to do so much more than just have sex with her, but the ringing phone got to them both, and he gestured for Cisco to answer.

Cisco looked at the screen and laughed sardonically.

“Speaking of…” He showed Barry the screen, which showed the name ‘IRIS’ in big capital letters. “Hey, Iris, what’s up?”

“I can’t see Barry anymore,” Iris said on the other end.

“What?! Why?” he asked suspiciously, spinning around to give Barry a nasty glare.

“What does she say about me?” Barry got up and scurried over, nearly tripping over the coffee table.

Cisco waved him off.

“Not as a client, at least,” Iris continued. “It’s too unprofessional.”

“What did he do to you?” Cisco demanded, and Barry scoffed.

“Nothing!” Iris screeched.

“Then, why do you want to drop him?”

Barry’s heart sank. Cisco couldn’t take the puppy dog eyes and Iris’ insistence at the same time, so he locked himself in his bedroom and focused on Iris.

“It’s just I…” She sighed, nibbling on her bottom lip. “I’m attracted to him, Cisco.”

“Oh, good lord,” he muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose.

There are two of them.

“What?” she asked.

“Nothing.” He continued in denial. “I don’t understand, Iris. Surely you’ve had clients you were attracted to before.”

“Well, yeah, but-”

“And you were still able to do your job.”

“Yes, but-”

“So what’s the difference this time?”

“I don’t know. It’s never been this…intense before.”

“Did he come on to you?” he accused.

“Sort of? Not deliberately, I’m sure. Though he did ask me to get lunch with him between seeing properties.”

“Jesus Christ,” he muttered.

“I don’t know if that counts though,” she defended. “He’s probably not even into me.”

Cisco snorted.

“Oh, he’s into you.”

“He is?” She could hardly catch her breath. “How do you know that? Did he tell you?”

He groaned, hating being caught in the middle of this hornball fest.

“What I mean is, you’re hot, Iris. What guy isn’t into you?”

“Oh.” She deflated, but he felt only slightly bad. “Well, he could be different.”

“He’s not. Trust me. He’s a guy with eyes and sometimes a brain. They all want you.”

She got defensive.

“You make it sound like a bad thing.”

“All I’m saying is that you should view Barry as if he’s any other guy. You’re a professional. Hell, you’re Iris Ann West. You can handle anything that comes your way, even someone named Bartholomew Henry Allen.”

“Bartholomew?” She giggled. “That’s funny. I’ll have to tease him about that.”

“No,” he cut in. “No teasing.”

“Right. No teasing.” She shook her head. “Nope, can’t do it, Cisco, I’m sorry.”

“You have to tease him that badly?”

“Tease him, flirt, fantasize…” She sighed. “I want him, Cisco.”

He groaned and fell back on his bed.

“Just,” she grumbled. “Tell him I’ve referred him to my co-worker, Sue. She’s excellent, and she’ll have all his notes and the properties I was planning on showing him tomorrow. It’ll be okay, I promise.”

“And what’ll you do?” he asked. “March over here for a one-night stand?”

She gasped, scandalized at the suggestion.

“Cisco!”

“Well?”

“No. Absolutely not. I…I will wait till he’s gotten moved into a new apartment and then I’ll find an excuse to get invited over. I will not be a booty call.”

“Could’ve fooled me,” he mumbled.

“What was that?” she asked pointedly, firmly, accusingly.

“Nothing. Okay, fine. I’ll tell him he’s to see Sue…?”

“Dearbon.”

“Dearbon. Okay. Fine. But seriously, Iris, get your shit together. It’s one man. It shouldn’t mess up your whole professional life.”

“Goodbye, Cisco. And thank you.”

He sighed, got up and opened the door to the same sad puppy dog eyes he’d left behind in the living room.

“She doesn’t want me?”

The next morning, Iris sat at her desk in her high-ceiling, large-windows office that Barry Allen loved so much and stared at the number one on her answering machine, praying it wasn’t from one Barry Allen.

Since he and Cisco still lived together, she imagined Cisco had shared something of the situation with him, but she didn’t know how much, and she was afraid to find out.

Besides, she knew she’d cave the second he started begging her to take him back as a client.

Her hand was lifted in mid-air when Sue waltzed in through her open doorway and plopped down on the other side of the desk a coffee in each hand, one for each of them.

“Am I interrupting something?”

Iris winced and accepted the coffee graciously.

“Not exactly. Just a matter of the heart and the profession.”

Sue frowned.

“Is this about that Barry Allen case you wanted me to take over that you refuse to tell me why?” She sipped at her coffee.

Iris cringed.

“Maybe.” She leaned back in her chair and drummed the arms with her fingertips. “I didn’t tell him directly.”

“That’s not like you.”

“I told his roommate.”

“Still not like you.”

“And I’m afraid the one message I have is for him begging me to take him back – as a client.”

Sue squinted.

“Why do you say ‘as a client’?”

Iris gulped.

“What would you be instead? A friendly neighbor?” She joked. “Or…” She watched Iris avoid eye contact, and the dots fused into a solid line. “Oh my god, you want to fuck this guy.”

“Shhh!!!”

She got up and closed the door to her office before sitting back down.

“We are at work right now! People could overhear!”

Sue looked amused and languidly sipped more of her beverage.

“Yes, but you’re acting like a horny teenager, not the professional realtor we all know and love.”

Iris sighed.

“He’s just…a guy. I’ve handled guys before. Guys that got too handsy – out, guys that were rude to my face – out. But if this guy, if this Bartholomew Henry Allen,” Sue blinked in continued amusement. “If he tells me to take him back, I will do it, and I will ruin my career in the process.”

Sue laughed and uncrossed her knees to lean forward.

“I don’t think you’ll be ruining anything. Listen to the message.”

“But I-”

“Listen to it.”

She blew out a sharp exhale and pressed the big round button for messages on her phone.

“Hey, Iris, it’s me, Barry. Look, I know you probably don’t want to hear from me, but I just feel like I need to apologize for the other day. It was unprofessional of me to come on to you, and I promise if you give me another chance and just help me find an apartment, you’ll never hear from me again. Just think about it.”

Beep.

“End of messages. To delete-”

Iris pressed the message to delete it, so she wouldn’t have to listen to it again.

Sue raised her eyebrows.

“That’s decisive.”

“Well, I had to make a decision.”

“Now you just have to call him back and tell him you won’t be taking him back on.”

“What?!”

Sue smiled, standing back up.

“It’s what the professional in you would do.”

Her jaw dropped.

“Let me know if you still want me to take him,” she said, opening Iris’ office door. “I’ll be in my office.”

She whistled on her way down the hall, sing-songing to Jerry, another realtor who worked across the hall from her, on her way.

Iris leaned back in her chair and groaned. Then, she flipped through Barry’s file until she found his cell phone number. Having found it, she got up to close her office door once more and put the phone on speaker after dialing said number. Then she crossed her fingers and prayed that he wouldn’t pick up, so she could just leave a message and that would be that.

One ring.

Two rings.

Three rings.

“Yes, yes, yes,” she cheered, preparing her message-leaving voice.

She cleared her throat, and then-

“Iris?”

Gentleness

As he was used to it, Hinata strolled towards the green house holding his bag close to his heart. A message on his phone made him hope he wasn't alone tending to the plants but his hopes were answered as he saw the reaper leaning against one of the benches relaxing and waiting for him... Yasuno himself was often tending to the plants back at his school but he wanted an excuse to be here with Hinata today.

The two kneeled next to another rooting out some weeds and planting some seeds down as Yasuno glanced upon him.

"Say Sunflower, why did you choose these?"

"I thought Barry might like them, he needs some cheering up after losing that match against James last time and so I thought."

Yasuno chuckled, pressing his thumb on his cheek and pulling him closer by his cheek brushing off some earth from his face with a somber smile.

"Sometimes I really wish I could have all that love to myself but... Its not bad to steal a bit love of you both. But I think it takes more than flowers... how about we take the muscle moron on something he would love?"

"Like?"

Yasuno picked out a flyer of a Comic convention out.

"I think this one would be fine... if we all wear costumes he doesn't have to be emberassed about being seen in public with us... and I win as well cause I can tease you two in your costumes."

A wide smirk appeared on his face as Hinata blushed.
