Thinking about the CFAU and marveling at how much Danny and Jason care for one another. Does anybody else figure out that Danny is going to kill the Joker, or is that knowledge Jason exclusive? I can't see Danny being close enough to any other Batfam member to disclose his plans, but I wonder if he drops hints. They're a family of paranoid detectives. I'd be surprised if they don't figure out Danny has a PURPOSE for being in Gotham at some point. Whether Danny's able to disguise it as wanting to be closer to Jason or not is another burning question.
Its def Red Hood exclusive! You're right in that Danny isn't close enough to disclose his revenge plot to any of the batfam members -- hell, not even Sam and Tucker know his true motives for returning to Gotham, and they're his best friends right after Jason! And Red Hood knows only because Danny accidentally slipped up ;].
I do also think that the Waynes kinda think something might be up with Danny -- at least Dick and/or Bruce might since they're the only ones who actually know him beyond brief mentions of him. Tim knows about him due to his stalking, but doesn't really know him -- and Danny plans to keep a healthy, friendly distance from the family so he can carry out his plans.
It's not that he holds any dislike towards them -- quite the opposite. He appreciates what they do for Gotham and recognizes the hard work that goes into keeping their Rogues Gallery at bay (even if he is bitter about Joker, but there's an obvious reason for that) -- but, well. He knows they're the vigilantes, he doesn't want to risk them sniffing out his murder plot before he can even go through with it.
Luckily for him he can excuse any distance he puts between them as just being busy with life and trying to settle in, and they're not close enough to him anymore to find it suspicious. I do think they figure out he's back in Gotham for a reason, Danny's not going to exactly hide the fact that he's back to find some kind of closure -- but what that closure is?
I think the only person who might suspect something sinister going on would be Bruce, who saw the sinking rage in Danny's eyes at the funeral -- it was part of the reason he didn't tell him who killed Jason (beyond secret identity reasons). But that depends on whether or not Danny reveals some of his hand, and the fact that he was still holding onto that rage (somewhat unwillingly) all this time.

thinking about just how likely it is that Batman was the only person Harley told about having suicidal thoughts whilst in Arkham in Detective Comics #831
"I was seriously considering hanging sheets from the light in my cell and doing the maximum checkout when I heard this voice..."
Detective Comics #831
and how he knew when she strapped that bomb to herself in Batman (2016) #100 that he had to go after her because she was going let herself die in an attempt to end Joker's rampage for good but that she refused to physically do it because he didn't want to her Kill him and he told her that so she's found a middle ground
"We don't need to end it this way. He needs to be locked back up."
that she'd rather die than keep living with his presence in the world haunting her, haunting Them.
That if he did choose Joker, she wasn't going to disarm the bomb herself.
"Honey. You're talking to the wrong girl if you think he's not dangerous locked up in Arkham. It's like I said. That's not good enough for me. Not anymore."
the way he yells for her as she leaves.
"You're only going to get to one of us in time, Bats. Who's it going to be?"
"Harley!"
the way the two men stare at each other in the way they have so many times before, in those moments when Joker stayed or prioritized their fight over her. the way he knew Joker loved the thrill of it all and thought it was funny, thought there was No way Batman would leave him and that this game had to end as according to the rules. And that Batman would do so, he would follow the rules and save him. The way he immediately assumed Batman would choose him, choose his life and choose to stay and disarm the bomb.
And how Batman didn't do that. How Batman walked away from him, leaving him to die or escape or whatever, because He was choosing Harley and her safety and prioritizing her life over him.
The way he stared him in the eyes before choosing the woman Joker had always left to die over him. The way that it was always Him, it was never a question if he would choose Batman over her, but when faced with that type of scenario, Joker is the one that gets left behind to die.
The way she literally woke up in the hospital instead of them having a scene just outside after he removed it. because she didn't intend to live in one of the two options. the way the bomb probably did go off to some capacity because you don't just end up in the hospital knocked out for a week.
Him saying that he's glad she's okay, after everything they've been through, this war and Everything else. and the way he didn't brush off her concern
"I'm glad you're okay."
"Are you?"
"I had to bury my father again today. I did it with my family."
i just, i can't,,,,, i cant

Everyone always talks about Bruce's short time in med school, but nobody ever talks about when he went to law school, aka when he tortured all of Gotham U with Brucie Wayne.
Bruce needed to study law, criminology, forensics, psychology, sociology, penology, to improve Gotham, so he enrolled in Gotham U again. However, he was going to play the role of the annoying rich brat, aka introducing Brucie Wayne to the world. HE PAID PEOPLE TO BE HIS FRIENDS. They tried to expel him, he just paid the administration to keep him. But also, he would disguise himself to ask questions to the teachers. And illegally enter the building to go through his professors' belongings to learn more advanced stuffs... You know he showed up "drunk" or "hangover" to class and was loud af about it.
100% Bruce has a degree in law because of his time there, but he bought it (and everyone know he bought it) instead of actually earning it, which he was 100% capable of. (Gotham is corrupted af, he can easily do that)
Yeah, he is the worst thing that ever happened to Gotham U and everyone hates him there. (Yes, worse than criminals. Every college has a couple of graduates that commit crimes later on. How many of them have a rich brat bringing a LAND PHONE, because Bruce was in college before mobile phones existed, so he can loudly gossip on the phone during class, and cannot be expelled because he is the one founding the new library???)
Also, funny to imagine this is when he met Harvey and, for some reason, he was his only real friend. (Maybe they had to work together on a project, and Bruce felt too bad about ruining someone else grade by being a dick, so he did show up to work with Harvey. And even tho he did his best to keep the mask on while not ruining Harvey's grade, he let out how much he actually cares about Gotham and wants to improve it. They bonded over that and now, Harvey is the only one to know that Bruce Wayne isn't a rich brat, but someone who cares about others.)
Btw, him saying that "It wouldn't have done for playboy Bruce Wayne to criticize the entire penology system" means that Bruce disagrees with the penology system in the USA, which is a punitive system, and also the death penalty, as penology modern studies are against it for being immoral and unethical. His education in the subject means that Bruce could actually use researches and works to explain why he is against killing, and I think it would be so funny to have him quoting Rousseau, Voltaire and Montesquieu to Jason.

I lOVE LOVE LOVE your brudick fics, I cannot stop reading them they are so delicious and addicting.
But I was wondering what got you into this amazing ship😌 and what is your favorite canon moment between them.
🖤💛🖤💙🖤
Thank you 🥹 I really appreciate it because I often struggle to see the worth in my own writing.
I had liked Batman from childhood but only got interested in brudick around 2016, not sure what it was exactly that opened my third eye to it, but I love toxic age gap yaoi so it was destined to happen lol there are several formative fics that I read at that time that really cemented my love for brudick, such as @holy-batmans story A Baptism of Fire, lacemonster’s Mirrors (currently privated and unavailable on the archive), & [orphaned account]’s You are forever in my mind.
As an adult I have a greater appreciation for adult Dick and Bruce’s relationship and the dynamics that form when they are older. But I still love any point of their relationship.
As for my favorite canon moment! That’s really difficult! What even is considered canon lol I’ll just share some particular moments in the comics that I really appreciate.
I love the scene in Robin Year 1 where Two-Face is beating Dick to death with a baseball bat and Bruce flies toward Harvey like a wraith
I love the embrace between Bruce and Dick in Robin & Batman after Dick saves Bruce from Killer Croc. Bruce’s horrifying realization that he’s trained Dick to kill himself to save others, not anticipating that it’d be his life Dick was willing to die for.
Bit of a throw back to the golden age (so maybe technically not canon), but I love when Dick gets beaten up so badly that Bruce is rushing him to a doctor’s house in the middle of the night for emergency treatment, and he threatens to kill the doctor with his bare hands if he doesn’t operate on him.
Also when Bruce goes out as Batman without Robin but keeps a portrait of Robin with him the whole time because he wanted to have him with him in spirit, are you kidding me???
Golden age Brudick is amazing. Also a huge fan of Bruce just. Giving up completely when he thinks Dick has died. He just goes limp and says “whatever guess i’ll die” . and this happens multiple times.
Literally any time Bruce thinks that Dick has died and either becomes brutally murderous about it or becomes a wreck. weeping for him like in Injustice or golden age comics. it really shows how integral Dick is to Bruce’s mental stability. How much he means to him!!!

grimm – batman: legends of the dark knight #149
[ID: a panel sequence of young Dick Grayson just two months after his parents' murders. He's sulking at the dining table in the grandiose Wayne Manor. The dinner is taking place in front of a lit fireplace that causes the entire room to have a soft, bronze glow to it. The table itself is long and decorated and Bruce Wayne is sitting on the opposite end of it. Alfred Pennyworth prompts, “More mashed potatoes, Master Dick—?” But Dick is too busy thinking about a young criminal he ran into when he snuck out earlier. He quietly mutters the taunt she told him, “‘Spoiled brat in a circus suit’—?” Alfred asks, “Was that a yes or a no?” The pouting child brusquely tells him, ”no,” which causes the butler to clear his throat. Dick begrudgingly corrects himself, “No thank you, Alfred.” Alfred responds, “As you wish, Master Dick.”
But Dick is already uttering another taunt under his breath, “‘Lap of luxury’!” Bruce leans forward slightly and asks if everything is okay but Dick dismisses his concern. He excuses, “I'm... I'm not very hungry, Bruce. Is it okay if I go to my room?” Despite his obvious qualms, Bruce awkwardly smiles and replies, “Uh... Of course. Certainly.” Dick gets up as Alfred tells him the food will be in the refrigerator if he gets hungry later but Dick just ‘uh-huh’s him as he walks away. With the child upstairs, Bruce immediately stands up and paces. He stops in front of the fireplace and stares into the blaze as he monologues his worries, “Maybe this was a mistake. What in the world made me think I could raise a boy? I don't know the first thing about it! I've always been a loner! I don't have the knowledge... or the disposition... to make this work.” Alfred wryly asks, “Are you addressing the fireplace, Sir—or me?” But Bruce stresses his demur without looking at him, “His parents are dead, Alfred! What gives me the temerity to believe I can replace them in his life?”
Alfred solemnly reassures, “I asked myself the same questions once. What in the world did a butler know about raising a young man who'd just lost the two people he loved most in the world? But strangely enough, Sir—I adapted. I learned. I learned because I wanted to... Because I cared. And... despite some difficulties along the way—I think the young man in question turned out splendidly. And I think Master Dick will too.” Bruce doesn't say anything but he his eyes closed in thought as Alfred talks before looking at him with a soft smile. He straightens his posture when Alfred finishes and puts his hand on his shoulder, silently grateful for the man's fatherly reassurance and support once again. END ID]

When You Accidentally Kill a Clown pt 8
Pt.1 pt.7 Ao3
By the time the dark knight slipped through Danny's window, they had just finished some late night Ramen (hey if they were going to face off against the Batman then they'd need something more than coffee cake from three hours ago in their stomach). It was clear that the Bat in question was doing his best at being sneaky, and to be honest, if Danny hadn't been expecting him: they would have been caught off guard in the least. However, as it were, Batman slipped silently into a well lit dorm and was met with a completely unimpressed college student.
Danny didn't even offer the man a second glance. It wasn't until the Bat cleared his throat to garner the boy's attention, that they finally pulled their gaze away from the Webb telescope livestream they had been watching.
"One second, this part's really cool," They said, turning the screen so the Bat could watch as a new image was displayed. Danny smirked a little at the man's quizzical grunt before they returned their full attention back the the livestream's host.
Danny paused the video just before the segment break and turned to Batman who had seemingly taken a much more relaxed stance as he watched the video with rapt attention.
"Told you it was cool," Danny smirked as they shut the laptop, shifting their position to face the Bat more directly whole maintaining their laid back -non threatening- demeanor. "Now what did you want to see me about? I assume it's about that clown I killed?"
"Hn," came the reply, "So it is true then? You killed the Joker?"
Danny narrowed their eyes. They had to play this right, the Batman was known to be quick to anger, afterall. And it wasn't like Danny hadn't anticipated and thought through this whole conversation on multiple occasions, it was just that they weren't best known for their planning, or tact, or thinking in general. -and maybe the bat was bit more intimidating in person-
"Yes," They found themself saying, drawing out the sounds to make more of a question than a statement. Then more surely, "Yes, I did cause the event that led to the clown's death."
___________
Bruce looked down at the kid I'm front of him, entirely aware of his status as a potential threat, yet also rather intrigued.
He was what his children tended to refer to as "adoption bait" The jet black hair, blue eyes, and ability to stare down Batman without even blinking, all set off Bruce's father instincts. Hell, instead of panicking that the Batman was in his dorm room, the boy had instead turned his laptop to continue watching a NASA livestream. All this coupled with the trauma from killing a person practically had the boy one leg into the robin costume already.
But first, Bruce had to assess the kid's threat level. It was clear from the footage he had managed to bribe out of Barbara, that the boy was a metahuman, a rather strong one at that if simply having been caught off guard managed to kill one of the city's most notorious killers. Of course, that was all the more reason to take him on as a ward. Better watched, better protected, -better controlled-.
Bruce was pulled from these thoughts as the boy closed the laptop, the video most likely having ended, and said something.
"Hn," Bruce responded, and began his questioning.
The boy admitted to killing the Joker, technically. But Bruce also took stock of the way he had worded his response, dancing around the subject as if to not outright say it.
"My sources say that you are a metahuman. What are your abilities?"
The boy scoffed, clearly building a facade of indifference to hide his anxiety. "Oh you know, plasma beams, density shifting, the works."
"Hn." The boy was hiding something. His power roster likely lengthier than he let on. The question was: whether Bruce should push or not. "Anything else?"
The boy made a show of thinking, exaggerating his movements as he rubbed at his chin. "Uuuuuuhhhhhhhh, not really no. I mean, I glow in the dark but that's not really something I like to advertise y'know? Like 'come see the human glowstick' amiright?"
That almost illicited a chuckle from the Drak Knight. *Almost*.
Last question, he thought before saying, "Are you a threat to this city?" Here Bruce wasn't really paying attention to the verbal answer as anyone one their right mind would answer to the the negative, but rather he was watching the boy's body language for a hint of darker intentions.
At the question the boy's facade dropped for a moment as if he had not been expecting that question, but it returned almost instantly with a grin akin to Jason's when he was younger. The thought made Bruce's stomach twist.
"No sir mister Batman sir!" The boy responded with a mock salute. "I promise that was a one-off thing and you won't have to worry about me any longer. Scouts honor."
Bruce raised an eyebrow, "You were a Scout?" That hadn't come up In the files.
"Nope," the boy said, emphasizing the p sound as he leaned against the wall. His face grew darker though, more serious, likely due to the frown on Bruce's own face.
"Genuine though, I promise I'm not here to cause trouble. I know you're still gonna keep tabs on me, or have Hood keep stalking me or whatever," Bruce narrowed his eyes, *Hood was stalking the boy?* "and I know you probably want me to join your furry brigade, but I'm really not interested in the vigilante stuff. Honestly I just want to get my degree and I'll keep my head down until then, promise."
Bruce didn't know how to respond to that, so he simply grunted to show he understood before heading back toward the window and slipping out.
He really hoped he wasn't making a mistake by trusting this kid.
--------------------------
Danny sighed as they flopped back down on their bed. *Ancients that was probably more stressful than it needed to be*. They laid there a moment longer, letting their nerves settle before they finally reopened their laptop. With any luck they could finish the vod before the adrenaline wore out and they crashed.
---------------
Wop wop
Danny and Jason's Date is next! I wonder if all will go as planned. We will see! Stay tuned
I love reading ya'll's thoughts so don't forget to comment/reblog
Joyous evening for all
