Not a post I thought I'd be making but just in case.

If you're someone likely to be targeted by the current riots in the UK and looking to find somewhere without an attack listed, try and research the population or the area first before going over there.

I live in Cumbria and while there's been nothing listed for Carlisle I know from living here that the area is very white, the lack of racism is more likely a lack of targets than a lack of racists.

Fellow white people if you have neighbours or friends who you know may be targeted and don't know how to help, if you feel safe doing so maybe offer to get groceries for them so it's not a risk they have to take.

I HAVE AN UPDATE

Things aren't great and flyers have been posted (and removed by management) and now put up again, cause after hours. If actual security were a thing, someone wouldn't be able to do that in a place with 20 floors. I digress.

We're meeting on Thursday, as tenants, to plan and take notes and press is invited. It'll probably perhaps be 10 people or maybe more. I hope people keep talking or are just interested.

My input will surely be different than another, my dear neighbor has educated me with so much that I didn't even know (not to mention her fuck you attitude that I need to have, oh my god she is good and smart).

As an aside, she and I had a follow-up check in and two people were clearly eavesdropping and wanted to add their thoughts (we weren't quiet), and what that duo shared was exactly what will make others scared to show up..."What if they evict me? What if someone who works for them is there?"

All valid fears. I might purchase some masks for those who just want to make their face covered, but also pretend it's a Covid thing (which is a thing for real still), or even a stinky neighbor thing (which is a thing).

I'm very much looking forward to having a conversation with my fellow residents and calling out nonsense and demanding better.

Thursday will be interesting. I will be taking notes and listening and will share when appropriate.
