sure, but keep in mind that I wasn't raised in a religious house, so I'm not an expert and this could be inaccurate, you could wait to see if other people would elaborate in reblogs or replies.

a lot of religions have the belief that they worship the true g-d(s) and everyone else is wrong and are worshipping (a) false g-d(s). I believe Christianity works like that.

in the Tanach, there is no claim that other religions' g-ds don't exist, in fact, there are instances were miracles from other g-ds happen, but the jewish g-d is described as unique and stronger than others.

for example, in the story of The Exodus (is that how יציאת מצרים is called in english), when Moses comes to the Pharaoh for the first time to ask to release the Hebrews, he showcases Hashem's (the Jewish g-d) strength by turning his staff into a snake, the Pharaoh's magicians(?) then proceed to also turn their staffs into snakes, but Moses's snake eats theirs. the story doesn't show their g-ds as non-existent, they gave the magicians the same powers as Hashem, but the power of Hashem was stronger and thus Moses's snake won over the other snakes.

foreign worship is banned in Judaism, not because the foreign g-ds are false, but because they're not Hashem, I don't know how to explain it but that's how it works.

it's crushing how silna's arc ends in exile. that crozier only learns her name the last time he sees her, that he never calls her by it until after she's already gone. that he chooses his own exile, repentant, yet in her place, while silna is banished for his (and the other men's) actions. she has spent the narrative with her own battles — of grief, of kidnapping, of unwanted responsibilities and failing to live up to them in the eyes of others; of trying to assist people that murder her own, blame and dehumanise her, brand her with an exotic title pushed upon her for that same grief — and it ends with her displacement.

then there's the killing of tuunbaq itself and how that represents a severance from her heritage and culture. not only for its significance to the community, or by its effect of getting her banished from it, but, since tuunbaq was connected to her father as shaman, in a way she's also losing part of what's left of her connection to him. all this after he was already disgraced by being denied a dignified death on the ice or given funerary rites by his daughter, according to netsilik tradition.

attacked, silenced, blamed, and finally displaced. erased, in some ways. of course, myths of a 'vanishing' people are also a colonialist narrative, portraying the disappearance of both them and their ways of life as inevitable, and it's worth saying that inuit representation in the terror doesn't subscribe to this. but, silna's individual story is one of tragedy, in line with the series' tone. she has agency, approaches the ships and their people with some curiosity, and does all that she's able to fulfil her role as shaman. in the end, none of that is enough to protect her from an inherently destructive imperial presence; one that separates her from her community and permanently alters her way of life.

so that last shot, crozier sitting with the child asleep against him, leaves an appropriately bitter taste. it isn't just sad or eerie for what we've witnessed throughout the show, it's uncomfortable. its visually peaceful (or mournful) nature is undermined by how disjunct crozier's presence in the shot feels. like a perfect picture from a documentary photographer — except something's there that shouldn't be. and something that should, isn't.

It happened in the space of a moment.

First, Spock had been dead. Kirk had been sure of it. The transporter had failed at exactly the wrong moment, and where a Vulcan was supposed to stand, serene, on the transporter pad, instead was simply - nothing. Empty space.

Spock had beamed off the planet, yes, but he never made it to the ship. Dead not to some heroic cause, but mere mechanical failure, leaving his atoms scattered in the black expanse of space so very far from home.

It seemed cruel. Senseless.

Kirk had seen death before, many times, but somehow no loss had hit him as hard as this one did, an icy dagger between his ribs. All Kirk could manage in its wake was to grip the edge of the control panel with shaking hands, barely able to keep himself upright under the weight of the grief which knotted thorny vines throughout his chest.

Spock! Kirk despaired, a sob building in his throat.

But then, the transporter grated again into motion, a terrible whine leaving it as a beam of light slowly consolidating into a heartrendingly familiar form. Kirk stared, half agony and half hope, hardly daring to imagine it was possible. The beam wavered, then settled, and there he suddenly was - somewhat ruffled, yes, but upright and breathing.

The most beautiful creature that Kirk could imagine - Spock, alive! - stood at attention on the transporter pad, and Kirk could do nothing else but take him by the arms and kiss him. It was sheer animal instinct, urging him to grasp what once was thought lost and draw it close.

Those narrow lips were shockingly plush beneath his own, and Kirk basked for a moment in the heat of them, the air that puffed gently between them, proof of life. Relief and adoration spilled from Kirk's every pore as he kissed Spock, working to memorize the contours of his mouth.

Dimly, it occurred to Kirk that he had never done this before. He had dreamed of it, certainly, but never once had he actually kissed Spock. Idly, he wondered why.

Then, quite abruptly, he remembered.

He yanked himself away, a desperate apology tripping to the tip of his tongue, but when he looked up into Spock's face, instead of horror or disgust or stiff rigidity, he saw-

Kirk blinked, dazed. Perhaps he had been too hasty when he had called Spock's earlier appearance, "the most beautiful he could imagine," because this, he thought, might just beat it.

Spock's eyes were loosely closed, dark lashes fanning out over olive-dusted cheekbones. There was no crease between his brows, no mark of discomfort or frigidness which closed him off to the world around him. Instead, their slant suggested some far gentler emotion. His typical lipstick had long since worn away, exposing the natural sage of Spock's lips, which here held soft and slightly parted. Slowly, Spock blinked his eyes open, sending those lashes fluttering. Spock gazed at Kirk, eyes so lovely a brown, and Kirk's heart couldn't help but stutter in his chest at the sweetness of his expression.

Spock looked like a man who had just been kissed.

Spock looked like a man who would like to be kissed again.

Kirk's apology died on his lips, and for a long moment he stood frozen, simply staring, mouth agape. Then, Spock tilted his head, gently inquisitive, and time took effect once more.

"I'm, ah - glad you're back safe, Mr. Spock," Kirk said, looking down and coughing lightly as heat flooded into his cheeks. "I feared for a moment there that you were space dust."

"Indeed," Spock replied, dipping his head. Something almost like a smile sat in the corners of his lips, secret and teasing. "Your greeting was... most unusual, Captain."

"Unusual," Kirk mused quietly. His eyes were fixed just beyond Spock's elbow before he snapped them up again, scanning Spock's face for each telltale trace of emotion. "...not unwelcome?"

And, oh, it was beautiful to see how that almost-smile twitched ever so slightly wider, setting Spock's eyes alight with a subtle glow. "No, Captain," he said. "Not unwelcome. Quite the opposite, in fact."

"I see," said Kirk, and something warm and giddy unfolded inside of his chest, fluttering. A smile which he was certain Bones would call "sickeningly besotted" was spreading helplessly across his face; Kirk couldn't bring himself to try to stifle it. "That's - good to know."

On a whim, he darted forward, pressing another brief peck to the corner of Spock's mouth.

"Very good to know indeed."

in honour of our boys appearing yet again for Les Mis Letters, here is a look at their names + my favourite lines from the Chinese translation of Les Mis (by Li Dan and Fang Yu)

Enjolras = 安灼拉 (Ān zhuó lā)

安 meaning peace

灼 meaning burning/bright

“他有天使那么美。” = He was as pretty as an angel

“他在欢乐中也不苟言笑” = He did not smile even when he was happy.

“他是自由女神云石塑像的情人” = He was lady liberty's marble lover.

Combeferre = 公白飞 (Gōng bái fēi)

公 can be found in the word 公平, meaning just

白 meaning white (which makes me think of: "Combeferre was as gentle as Enjolras was severe, through natural whiteness.")

飞 meaning flight

安灼拉近于义，公白飞近于仁。= Enjolras was closer to righteousness, Combeferre was closer to kindness.

Why You Should Play Wuthering Waves

CHARACTERS

There’s so much eye candy it’s unreal.

(There are more characters ofc. I just can’t fit them all here but trust me. Or don’t trust me and look them all up!!)

Even the mcs are hot

Which speaking of MCs…

You’re able to switch from female to male Rover at any time you want!! There’s just a limit of one switch per every 24 hrs.

Also they actually talk a decent amount during dialogue cut scenes which makes things more interesting imo. I like their voice actors and enjoy hearing them!

EXPLORATION

Exploration is so damn fun and efficient!! You have unlimited stamina except for climbing, swimming, gliding and during battles. But when running around you can run forever without losing stamina.

Also climbing is so quick and easy. You basically run up the walls. And you know when you’re climbing in genshin and you get stuck bc there’s a ledge? Yeah that’s not an issue in wuwa bc the characters lift and swing over ledges like that.

The scenery is so beautiful.

There are also quite a lot of helpful devices that every character has access to at all times. Like the grappling hook, which is similar to genshin sumeru grappling hooks except there’s no limit to how far away you have to be to use it. Makes it faster to use when exploring.

YOU CAN FLY IN ONE OF THE REGIONS. like actually fly and very quickly too. It’s super fun.

Additionally, each region in a nation has different categories that make up its exploration and it will tell you how much of each you’ve completed. This makes it easy to complete exploration bc you can see what you’re missing and focus on that.

FIGHTING/BATTLES

Boss battles are so unique and fun. It’s very out of the box and unexpected and I’ve never had more fun fighting bosses then I have in wuwa.

The play styles between each character differed a whole lot and each and every one is so damn cool.

Not only do you have the ability to dodge and counterattack, but you can also parry. There are other opportunities to do more than normal damage during battles as well. You have the regular attack, enhanced skill attack, and then special skill attack like in other games such as genshin and hsr. But you also have an echo attack and intro/outro attack when you switch characters in battle.

WISHING

It’s very easy to collect astrite!! Astrite is the equivalent of primogems/stellar jade. The game is very generous and when it comes to wishing, it is very kind when pulling for your fave characters.

COMPANION STORIES

Companion stories are super fun. Sometimes the game style changes to a 2d view (think Mario bros) in certain domains for companion stories and it’s such a fun little twist.

MISCELLANEOUS

YOU CAN SKIP DIALOGUE!!! Dialogue can be skipped for any and every quest. For more important quests, they will give you a summary for the dialogue you’re about to skip. But for simple side quests, they will just skip the dialogue w/o a summary. This makes gameplay so much more efficient bc I hate when there’s too much dialogue.

There are tactical hologram enemies that are essentially pre-existing bosses that are made to be more difficult and have about six or seven versions. Each version is more difficult than the last and provide a fun challenge when it comes to fighting. Bc sometimes the game can feel a bit too easy when you level up your characters, but these holograms make you plan and rethink strategies when it comes to battling.

This is your travel companion. Look at how cute he is!!!

Your characters will heal not only at the bigger teleportation spots (the ones that unlock the map) but at ALL the teleportation spots. Makes it very convenient.

Did I mention that the characters are really hot?

Papi from Popee the Performer is (dubiously) canonically intersex! In source material, there's an arguably ridiculous scene (as is the entire series.) at the end of the episode 「SLEEP」 where Papi is depicted pregnant, having swallowed his son Popee whole.

Out of direct source material, the artist for the show Wakako Masuda has gone on record believing him to be 「両性類」 ("Ryōsei-rui"), which can be translated multiple ways such as "amphibious", "bisexual/both sexes" and the H-slur. She has also retweeted fanart depicting Papi with the intersex flag.

Personally, I headcanon him to have Persistent Müllerian Duct Syndrome (PMDS)!
