there are already so many posts about palestine, so im gonna make one about israel. the recent attack from the 7. october is the first genocidial attack on jews of this degree since the holocaust. i cant speak about other countries but in germany things are reverting back to nazi times, with david stars painted on front doors of jews and jewish synagogues and kindergartens being closed down or swept empty because the people are terrified. antisemites and the far-right extremist scene is emboldened and empowered by this attack. they look at everyone‘s reaction very closely and at least for my country, ppl are insanely silent about it, which is like a legitimation of their views and their actions. i want ppl to remember that! there should be more space in this anti-genocidial activism than there seems to be currently, one that includes jews. i dont find it funny at all that my timeline, if politics cross it, and that most posts, if i go to the tags, talk about the settler colonialism and the attempted genocide by israel on palestine, but not about the baked-in antisemitism and the degree of terror and severity this recent event has. there are gonna be long-lasting consequences on all sides and its not gonna be fun, there has to be a way to talk about all of it, all human lives lost, all genocides happening and attempted, without letting one fall under the bus because its easier and fits the narrative of the modern justice warrior. years ago they said that this is a fight of anti-colonialism and anti-genocide, not jews vs muslims, in the topic of israel and palestine, but by choosing to not mention one and focusing exclusively on the other now u make it into one. what im seeing currently is a lot of performative activism and one-sided focus that does not help anyone at all save for those profitting from this situation, which are the antisemites, the nazis and the far-right extremists, the hamas and everyone else in league with them. please think about this for a minute and be conscious of whom u are unintentionally aiding

Sunday always comes. Resurrection is a promise, and it is a prophecy. It’s a prophecy that came out of the cotton fields. It’s a prophecy that came out of the lynching tree. It’s a prophecy that still lives in each and every one of us to make the state of Tennessee the place it ought to be. So I’ve still got hope, because I know we are still here and we will never quit.
-Representative Justin Pearson (D-Memphis) on the day of his expulsion (04/06/2023) from the Tennessee House of Representatives, for standing with his constituents as they protested gun violence following a school shooting that left 6 dead at The Covenant School in Nashville on March 27, 2023.

Absolutely recommend Pride (2014).
Based on the history of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM), and is absolutely the kind of solidarity she should strive for.

Fuck america. Fuck the bigoted assholes up in the god fucking supreme court who did this. Fuck this retched fucking country.
The fact that some stuck up old guys overturned a case that literally gave everyone with a uterus basic bodily autonomy and have just ripped away people's rights to their bodies is fucked. Roe vs Wade should have NEVER been set out for the chopping block I feel like that should be some decent fucking common sense?? And now those old men are going after more shit that give us basic human rights because they're scared of. What? People to actually grow the fuck up and realize that living like it's the civil war is a shit way to live?
I am so fucking god damn pissed I could go on for fucking ages. Please if you have any social media not just this platform, Twitter, Instagram, tik tok, Facebook, anything, GO FUCKING MAKE A GOD DAMN POST ABOUT THIS. We won't get jack shit done no one is going to fucking listen unless we make ourselves heard. Go be fucking loud. Most of this current generation is way too young to vote or aren't actively able to since the system loves to fuck over young people. So the best you can all do is get off your stinking asses and FIGHT. YELL for our rights. SCREAM at the people who took these bodily rights and demand that you get a say over your body, not their baby boomer, crusty, dusty old white asses. BE FUCKING LOUD AND FUCKING PROTEST. PROTEST LOUDLY PEOPLE.

Take a good look at the countries leading/have started the legal battles to hold the IOF accountable -their fights to end IOF terrorism and war crimes, as this should have been done months ago, are now beginning.
So many Palestinian people have been genocided, and the rampant global government inaction has caused chaos, death, and destruction of Gaza... I just hope this leads to a permanent ceasefire and an end to the occupation. I truly do.

I am not unaware of the negatives of Biden's presidency, and I am not trying to elide or forgive them. I'm reblogging posts about the Biden administration because I think it's really important that potential voters in the US realize that there is, in fact, a very big difference between the two parties, and voting for Biden is not just damage control--it actually does good. It's okay, you can actually feel a little excited about making meaningful progress, and not just hold your nose.
He's been very unflashy. He's not a great leader, he's not charismatic and he knows it, but he's an adroit politician and administrator, and he's been getting things done. Letting Trump win at this point would be tantamount to throwing the entire country on the bonfire. It's not a choice between bad and bad, it's a choice between meaningful, if imperfect, progress and fucking doom.

(Note: See updated post) The new DRAFT U.N. Resolution, set to be voted on today, calls for:
• ... “urgent and extended humanitarian pauses” in the fighting throughout Gaza and the opening of corridors inside the enclave “for a sufficient number of days to enable full, rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian access.” • U.N. Secretary General António Guterres to appoint a senior coordinator “with responsibility for facilitating, coordinating, monitoring, and verifying in Gaza, as appropriate, the humanitarian nature” of all assistance, and demands that “the parties to the conflict cooperate with the coordinator to fulfill their mandate without delay or obstruction.” • ... “immediate and unconditional” release of the hostages. It also demands that “all parties to the conflict comply with their obligations under international law ... including with regard to the conduct of hostilities and the protection of civilians and civilian objects.” • It reiterates the council’s “unwavering commitment” to a two-state solution for Israelis and Palestinians and “stresses the importance of unifying the Gaza Strip with the West Bank under the Palestinian Authority.” (12/22/23 | Source: WaPo)
Although the resolution's language was toned down, this is a sign of progress. While such measures are long overdue and should have been honored from the start, we must do everything possible to meet the urgent humanitarian needs in Gaza and relieve unfathomable suffering.
DON'T STOP POSTING. KEEP UP THE PUBLIC PRESSURE. DEFEND HUMAN RIGHTS.
Stay tuned for today's vote.

THE HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN HAS DECLARED A STATE OF EMERGENCY FOR LGBT PEOPLE IN THE USA
Please watch this video by Rudy Riggs explaining it!
Took uh, a lot longer to add this ID than I intended
Picture ID: A person with a black t-shirt, layered silver necklaces, several piercings, a hat, and red hair dye except for the middle section which is brown. Their hair is very short, and they are very expressive with their hands and head movement. Their visible hand has several rings, one of which is very large.
The background is of a beige room with a sign light on the left, a picture or painting on the right, and plant in the corner.
There are captions above their head and a title in front of their throat which only stays for a few seconds.
End Picture ID
Captions(slashes are used to signify the end of a caption):
okay so a national state of emergency has been declared in America/
for LGBTQ+ people by the Human Rights Commission/
but what does that even mean/
I hear you ask/
look it up for yourself/
but I'm going to tell you the top line facts/
firstly they have released a statement of emergency/
which basically just states what the emergency is about/
and why they have decided to declare one/
they've also released what they're calling a handbook/
which has a bunch of resources/
like different laws in different states of America/
as well as rights for LGBTQ+ people in different states of America/
as well how to determine access for healthcare/
how to finance yourself a move to a safer state or place and finding employment/
information for filing complaints against civil rights laws/
as well as a bunch of other stuff about how to identify rhetoric/
and how to oppose anti LGBTQ/
plus situations on school boards or in other areas of your life/
and then finally/
the Human Rights Commission have also released information for travelers/
coming to the United States of America/
which is pretty terrifying/
that is just the overview of a very in depth document/
so please go and look at it yourself/
this is supposed to be Pride Month/
and it's really hard to feel pride/
when human rights are being violated across the entire globe/
End Caption ID
Rudy makes a note in the video description that they misspoke in the video and that it was the Human Rights Campaign, not Commission.
Find the Human Rights Campaign Here
Please note that HRC is a recognized non-profit based in Washington DC. It is also one of the largest LGBT+ organizations in the United States.

I don't buy that there's a rift between Biden and Netanyahu. You don't sign a bill like this one day
Tumblr media
and claim there's a growing rift between the two countries the next day.
It's all political theatre, just like the ceasefire resolution the US tried to pass last week. It's meant to convince everyone who is angry at Biden over Gaza that he's really going to hold Netanyahu to account this time.
The US is still working with Israel to destroy Gaza by providing money weapons, building that port (with rubble from Palestinian homes), and destroying the UNRWA.
Don't stop applying pressure on the Biden administration. Who knows how long we have until Rafah is invaded. Don't ease up under the believe that this time the US will finally stop supporting Israel.

Google is going to start scraping all of their platforms to use for AI training. So, here are some alternatives for common Google tools!
Google Chrome -> Firefox
If you’re on tumblr, you’ve probably already been told this a thousand times. But FireFox is an open-source browser which is safe, fast and secure. Basically all other browsers are Chrome reskins. Try Firefox Profilemaker, Arkenfox and Librewolf! Alternatively, vanilla Firefox is alright, but get Ublock Origin, turn off pocket, and get Tabliss.
Google Search -> DuckDuckGo
DuckDuckGo very rarely tracks or stores your browsing data (though they have only been known to sell this info to Microsoft). Don’t use their browser; only their search engine. Domain visits in their browser get shared. Alternatively, you can also use Ecosia, which is a safe search engine that uses its income to plant trees! 🌲
Google Reverse Image Search -> Tineye
Tineye uses image identification tech rather than keywords, metadata or watermarks to find you the source of your image!
Gmail -> ProtonMail
All data stored on ProtonMail is encrypted, and it boasts self-destructing emails, text search, and a commitment to user privacy. Tutanota is also a good alternative!
Google Docs -> LibreOffice
LibreOffice is free and open-source software, which includes functions like writing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, formula editing and more.
Google Translate -> DeepL
DeepL is notable for its accuracy of translation, and is much better that Google Translate in this regard. It does cost money for unlimited usage, but it will let you translate 500,000 characters per month for free. If this is a dealbreaker, consider checking out the iTranslate app.
Google Forms -> ClickUp
ClickUp comes with a built-in form view, and also has a documents feature, which could make it a good option to take out two birds with one stone.
Google Drive -> Mega
Mega offers a better encryption method than Google Drive, which means it’s more secure.
YouTube -> PeerTube
YouTube is the most difficult to account for, because it has a functional monopoly on long-form video-sharing. That being said, PeerTube is open-source and decentralized. The Internet Archive also has a video section!
However, if you still want access to YouTube’s library, check out NewPipe and LibreTube! NewPipe scrapes YouTube’s API so you can watch YouTube videos without Google collecting your info. LibreTube does the same thing, but instead of using YouTube servers, it uses piped servers, so Google doesn’t even get your IP address. Both of these are free, don’t require sign-ins, and are open source!
Please feel free to drop your favorite alternatives to Google-owned products, too! And, if this topic interests you, consider checking out Glaze as well! It alters your artwork and photos so that it’s more difficult to use to train AI with! ⭐️
