As a 23 year old who used to read all day everyday when she was a kid but rarely does ever since she got her hands on the internet and videogame consoles and had to deal with things like studying and growing up and family shit I now know no shame or restraint when reading late at night because I am instead filled with some kind of pride and reassurance that "I still got it"

it’s the end of the year and i ran straight into a wall re: reading. this is because i have been playing video games instead. last year i read four books in total so i am allowed to fall a few books short of my honestly overly-ambitious goal (clenching + grinding my teeth)

hii, ask game :)) - List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who liked or reblogged something from you!
Let's see ... Reading a book in the garden, playing a ttrpg where we were silly and made each other laugh, a fun boardgame night, rereading This Is How You Lose The Time War in a day and loving it just as much as before, devouring a ton of amazing TIHWLTTW fanfics on AO3.

first off— I LOVE UR WORK!! i think i just went thru and read everything you have for one piece LOL. second!!! i saw hc / drabble request open !! i have a silly idea that i feel like you can make come into reality.
recently i’ve been watching isekai’s so…imagine. reader getting isekai-d into the one piece world!!! (more specifically, interactions with the cross guild!!!)
A/n: Thank you very much nonnie!! I really appreciate you taking the time to read my stuff. Please enjoy this <3
Getting Isekai'd Into Cross Guild!
Rating: SFW
Relationship: Cross Guild x Reader
Notes: GN!Reader, a bit crack, short and sweet. No relationship is defined so you can assume it to be platonic or romantic <3.
The wonderful Truck-kun granted your wish of getting isekai’d by sending you straight to the One Piece world! How wonderful!
Except, you quite literally fell on top of Buggy just as he was trying to argue his case to Crocodile and Mihawk.
Now, they have no clue what the hell just happened but Mihawk already agrees with whatever that just was.
Buggy is about to scream over the fact you just fell on top of him and Crocodile is wondering how you managed to get here.
Crocodile assumes a Devil Fruit, Mihawk assumes you snuck in, and Buggy assumes you’re the devil.
It takes a moment for things to settle down as they demand you tell them what you’re doing here. You explain that well… uh… you’re not really from here.
Crocodile almost plans to kill you right away because he doesn’t have time for stupidity like that, but you show whatever you have on hand to prove otherwise.
They’re all immediately entranced by your phone, but they have something they’re also interested in too.
Crocodile: Your credit cards and money. When you explain how a credit/debit card functions he’s amazed. Tempted to start a bank and overhaul the current financial system. Also loves the excel spreadsheets. The fact this “machine” will calculate all of this for you and put it in a neat list… well… mark him down as interested.
Buggy: The shiny games on your phone that are colorful and fun. The fact he can “Google” anything and look up new material.
Mihawk: EReaders and, this will sound hilarious, but text messaging. He doesn’t care to talk, but he thinks that sending texts would be so much more effective and efficient than having to haul himself around the sea or, god forbid, answer a phone call.
Okay so you did manage to prove you’re not from this world (or that perhaps you were an alien freak but that’s okay) and Crocodile and Mihawk are pretty much entertained. That’s it. You can go. Bother someone else.
Buggy however, holds you close and pouts. “Can we keep them? Can we keep them pleeeeeeeease???” He begs as if you’re a little puppy.
Crocodile is against this but Mihawk shrugs and agrees. Whatever. This could be interesting.
Buggy still doesn’t understand you’re not some circus animal and rambles about what he should have you wear and perform for his show while Crocodile cuts him off.
Frankly, if you’re telling the truth and have nowhere else to go, you gotta earn your keep. Crocodile just makes a new position for you that shouldn’t be too hard after you said you have 0 combat skills or training.
You’re basically just their assistant and do menial work that no one else really wants to do. For now at least.
Buggy is actually… kinda happy you’re so nice to him? He’s used to either worship from his crewmates or abuse from Mihawk and Crocodile, so you quickly become his new favorite person. He’s pretty shocked you’re as nice as you are considering how crappy this situation is, but he’s grateful. Softens up to you right away and loves having your attention.
Buggy likes to do silly tricks to make you laugh whenever he can, mostly as a way to be the “flashiest” guy in your eyes. He really doesn’t like when others try to take you or away or interrupt his time with you, since he’s a brat and finds you entertaining.
Crocodile and Mihawk are tougher nuts to crack. Neither of them trust people, but they find you interesting, even though you are incredibly weak compared to others.
Crocodile always tries to see what you may/may not know about him since you made a few offhand comments that were a bit too… knowledgeable… so he often tries to get you to slip up more or confess to something. He hopes to see if you know something useful that can be used (but also deep down is afraid you know too much).
Mihawk on the other hand finds you amusing. Plenty of things are similar to your world, but it’s quite clear you’re not used to many aspects of this one. He forms a habit of just watching you or actively messing with you to see your reaction. It’s a bit funny to him, admittedly.
Of the two, Mihawk is the first to somewhat let his guard down and be a bit protective of you. He figures even if you were hypothetically “dangerous”, he could easily kill you so what does he care? You do your job, you’re entertaining, and you don’t give him a headache.
Crocodile only lets up when you “prove” time and time again that you are reliable and not trying to go after them or sabotage them. He does think it’s a bit weird you’re eager to help them, considering what they do and what you know, but hey, who is he to complain?
To sum it up: Crocodile cares the most about you being isekai’d, Buggy cares the least (except when it comes to his perception. He wonders if he’s also got a following there).
Buggy likes showing off his new tricks or discussing silly hypotheticals with you.
Crocodile likes when your eyes grow wide whenever he drops an expensive item on your desk as a token of his appreciation to you.
Mihawk likes when you talk him to normally and share deep discussions with him.
It is a bit strange that there’s some “normal” person with these three villains, but you’ve become important to them. You’re unique and special, practically one of a kind in this zany world. They show their feelings towards you in different ways, but the way they’ve grown attached to you and try to protect you show that you’re valued in their life.

IT GIRL APPS
(You don't need all these apps. You can pick and choose the one's that suit your needs and lifestyle 🧡)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🎀 Notion
Notion is a wonderful app and a must have. It can be a bit complicated to use but its only because it has so many features. You can organise your whole life in just one app. Just the free version is so amazing and detailed.
Since it takes quite a lot of time to set up and can be very overwhelming if you are a beginner, I would recommend you check out the youtube channel of Sab Yang. Her notion videos are a lifesaver.
Also the video that basically explained the major features of notion to me was this. It is the only video you need in my opinion so do check it out.
🎀 Milanote
An alternative to Notion is Milanote. This is in case you want something that is more simple to operate. But just as it is simple, it also lacks features and in the free version you can only use a 100 cards or so.
I would recommend to use notion on a daily basis and to use Milanote just to plot out your mothly/quarterly/yearly goals, whatever suits you the most. You can try both and figure out which is more convenient.
🎀 Google Calender
Although notion calenders is available now, that app requires certain permissions (at least on phone it does) that I am not willing to grant so I will still go with Google calenders.
If you are a student or a working individual, this is a lifesaver when it comes to keeping track of certain dates.
🎀 My Diary
My Diary is an online diary. It has a lot of ads but it is very cute. You can also use notion to journal and to script etc but mydiary has a tag feature where you can tag certain entries and it organises it and helps you find the ones you need easily.
🎀 Goodreads
If you enjoy reading, you must have goodreads. You can create shelves, rate books and drop reviews and also make friends and be aware of what they are reading.
🎀 Kindle/ an eReader app
Kindle or an eReader app is also very important. Easy access to books or documents and also epub files.
🎀 Pinterest
I don't even have to explain this.
🎀 Period Tracker
If you menstruate then a period tracker app is so useful in helping you keep in check with your cycle and care for yourself accordingly.
🎀 Daff Moon
It is a moon tracker. It keep in track with different phases of the moon and what planets it is in.
If you are a spiritual person or if you practice cycle syncing, this app is so amazing.
🎀 Duolingo
Amazing app for language learning. The free version is also so amazing. It makes learning language a game.

if you're doing showoff submissions, this is my personal 3ds ! i'm in north america so i had to get it imported from japan to get it in a size that's usable to me.
i actually just got it earlier this year, and hacked it with a friend -- by which i mean, she did all the technical stuff and occasionally asked me to translate.
the games on it are mostly pokemon and metroid. oddly, i've gotten much more use out of this thing as an ereader than as a game console, and odder still, it's probably the best ereader i've ever used due to the size and form factor.
incidentally, did you know that you can install dsi camera and sound on a 3ds ? i have absolutely no use for them since the 3ds apps are strictly better, but i have them on there for the novelty of it.
black n3DS
what program do you use for the ereader? I'm really curious actually. I feel like the resolution would be an issue- wouldn't it make the text hard to read?
also no I didn't know about that- that's actually pretty funny.

THG Book Club
We will be hosting a book club for Hunger Games fans starting in early January. This will not be a read-along of the series (we've all probably read them several times over at this point). The purpose of this book club is to expand our reading to novels, essays, short stories, poems, songs, etc. that Suzanne Collins either was inspired by or works that have similar themes to The Hunger Games. While we will be reading these works on their own merit and discuss them on this basis alone, we will also be examining how the themes interact between The Hunger Games and the other work. Discussion is highly encouraged! :)
Short on time? Don't worry! We'll be reading at a manageable pace (1-2 chapters a week, depending on length). This is meant to be a sustainable activity. So even if you get busy or have to skip out for a bit, catching up shouldn't take too much time.
So what will we be reading exactly? Although Suzanne Collins gives interviews rarely, she openly talks about her inspiration for The Hunger Games found in literature, myth, and history. We'll be finding these books and other works she's mentioned, voting on what we want to read, and going from there. Shorter works (such as myths and poems and essays) will be interspersed between longer works such as novels and plays.
What about diversity? Given Suzanne Collins's background, it's no surprise that the list is pretty Western and white. This is why we aren't sticking strictly to a Suzanne Collins reading list. After a "Suzanne Read" we'll open up to works that are written by authors of diverse backgrounds who write on similar themes that we can compare to The Hunger Games and expand our perspective on these topics as well!
What'll it cost me? Many of the works will be free online, but especially when we look into diverse reads, this may not always be the case. We encourage use of libraries, borrowing books, thrifting books, and/or buying on an ereader, depending on what's available to you. If you need help accessing the books, don't hesitate to reach out.
Who's behind this account? Hi, my main is @thesweetnessofspring. :)
How to participate:
Follow this blog for updates.
Follow #thg book club to read everyone else's discussion.
Be kind and have fun!
Currently, I am taking suggestions for the poll for our first Suzanne Read! Books on my list so far:
Far From the Madding Crowd
Coriolanus
Frankenstein
Spartacus
Lord of the Flies
If there are any books Suzanne has mentioned has been an influence on her or THG that you're interested in reading, please leave a reply or message so I can add it to the list! I plan to open up the poll on 12/20/2023 so get your suggestions in by then!
