What are your BBC Merlin songs?

I’m making the ultimate Merlin playlist and I need songs! I already have some of the classics*, but I would love some input, and also some deeper cuts! No song is too obscure or too cliché. The playlist tends to skew towards Merthur, but I want to expand it, so drop as many as you want, for any of the characters!

*the classics I have right now include King and Lionheart, A Thousand Years, Carry On My Wayward Son, Soldier Poet King, and The Night We Met.

Ever since Hook introduced Morgie to the beach it instantly became his favourite place. He had a small draw in his closet filled with of seashells and other things he had found while strolling by the shores. After class if he wasn’t scheming with the VK’s or practicing his animal sounds he was at the beach.

The beach was your secret getaway from your stressful life as council president at Merlin academy. The endless ocean was also a place you could practise your water magic. It started as just making waves but soon turned into an art form and relaxation for you.

One day late at night you were lying on a beach towel relaxing on the sand and listening to the ocean. That was until you heard the faint sound of a twig snap. You swivelled your body around quickly trying to locate the noise.

Just then the sound of footsteps rang through your ears. You grabbed your beach towel and started backing towards the water. You could now see the shadowy figure growing closer to the beach.

You used your free hand to form a water ball. You waited for the perfect time and threw the ball. You were greeted with the familiar voice of Morgie. He stepped through the tree, his outfit drenched in water “Did you do this” He looked you straight in the eye which startled you “I- uh- yes…” He stared for a few seconds before jumping in the air “That’s so cool, you can control water I’m so jealous” His reaction threw you completely off guard.

He started walking closer, shaking his body to get rid of the water “stand still, I’ll get it out” He followed your order and stood still and within a matter of seconds all the water on him disappeared “Woah” He walked a little faster until he reached where you were standing

“Can I ask you a question” You weren’t in the mood for questions but his eagerness and very clear joy overthrew that mood “Sure” He smiled “I love seashells and there are some in the water there, but I don’t like getting wet so…do you think you could part the water for me”

You smiled at his cute but childish question “Out of all the VK’S you fascinate me the most, but sure I’ll part the water” You dropped the beach town and focused your energy on parting the water long enough for Morgie to collect his shells. He ran forward and started picking them all up one by one.

After a couple seconds he stepped back which you took as a cue to let go. Taking a couple quick breathes you returned to look at Morgie “Thank you, These are going to be perfect for my collection” He leaned over and kissed you on the cheek “Bye” And with that he walked off leaving you dumbfounded and clutching your cheek.

Summary:

Arthur could see his father glaring down - face red and eyes narrowed as he looked at Merlin with clear distaste. "Once this over, sorcerer...I’ll burn you." "You’ve already tried that," Merlin’s voice answered and Arthur had to bite his fist to keep from making any noise. “You need to accept you can’t kill me… Hand me that blanket, please.” “I’m sure there must be some method… Beheading?” “No, we tried that.” “Hanging?” “I just sort of... Swung there, remember?” There was another pause. “I should have made you keep that dragon below the castle so I could feed you to it.” “Kilgharrah? He won’t eat me, but if you want to torture me than making me listen to his nonsense for an hour might do it.” Merlin said and there was a soft sigh from the other end of the room. “I’m glad you agreed to help me though. Usually I have to do the grunt work of saving Arthur myself.” “I can’t wait to kill you.”  Or Uther finds out about Merlin’s magic, but can’t seem to kill him. Merlin is just trying to protect Arthur. They become a begrudgingly effective duo. Arthur doesn't understand why they think he isn't noticing this.

Nothing to see here, just the funniest fic I’ve ever read in all my nineteen years of life. Enjoy!

Krystal: Liar! I don't even drink that crap!

Miyu: Oh really? Then what were you doing by the coffee cart earlier?

Krystal: I use the wooden stirrers to push back my cuticles. Everyone knows that, Miyu!

Fay: Okay, okay, let's not fight. I broke it. Let me pay for it, Falco.

Falco: No! Who broke it?

Peppy: Falco...Fox has been awfully quiet.

Fox: Really?!

Peppy: Yeah, really!

Fox: Oh my god!

*Everyone but Falco starts fighting.*

Falco, in another room, to the camera: I broke it. It burned my hand so I punched it. I predict ten minutes from now they'll be at each other's throats with warpaint on their faces and Pigma's head on a stick. Good. It was getting a little chummy around here.

MERLIN FIC REC

What's your favorite type of mythology to read?

Aside from Greek mythology, I have read much mythology from other cultures. However, Celtic mythology has always seemed interesting. I've read at least one book based on Celtic myths and that was Witches of Ash and Ruin by E. Latimer.

Ravensong is about 3 Irish war gods. There's demi gods, weird happenings with Hell, and accidentally falling in love with a human. It's pitched as Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Celtic mythology and I'm 100% here for it!

Oh but you should expand on the rarepair things. Whomst is Cecilia? And why is Fay & Harry so low?

Why thank you for asking!

Realistically, Fay and Harry is such a small tag because she's only important in one video game, so all fics are from us writers hunting her down through various wikis or fics and deciding she's cool. I think I first heard of her in A Different Professor by AsphodelWolf15? Which isn't even IN the Fay Dunbar & Harry Potter tag. Tragic, really.

In case you're interested, my fics in the tag are so far Emotional Support Cookies and We'll Take Our World By Storm. She's a main character in Not (Our Parents') Children, though, so that number WILL go up as I write the au. She's also the main character in Dark Magic for Dummies, but that hasn't left my documents yet.

Cecilia! Alright, so, in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, we meet Voldemort's parents. And in the scene where we meet his dad, Tom Riddle Sr. is riding on horseback with a pretty lady, who he tells to not look at the Gaunts, as they're so disgusting. He calls her "Cecilia, Darling." Now, Voldemort's mom is Merope Gaunt, and canonically we never see Cecilia again. But in the Magpie's Hoard discord, I posited a prompt about 'what if when Tom Riddle went to meet his dad, he met his stepmother too, and she decided to take him in'. That sparked a truly beautiful discussion, of course, and I decided I liked her. She'll appear later on in Hyacinth, but for now I have Judge My Carmine Fingertips (it won't make them clean) and Gentle as Flaking Blood.

Canon rules: nail it or screw it, you know? It's my playground now.
