Blog Update:
So I feel like as a silm and lotr fandom community, we’ve more or less collectively agreed that elves (and dwarves etc) are pretty queer in sexual orientation and usually falling along the pan/bi range with at least sexual experiences if not marriages. Also, I feel most of us who write are queer or at least pro-lgbtq/allies.
However, the majority of the fics - in general and insert elf(ves) x reader - are cishet pairings. And if they aren’t cishet, it’s cis mlm (which is why I absolutely adore how much trans Fingon and Maedhros exist).
Of course, just because a pairing is cishet doesn’t mean the characters themselves are (as in, Elrond is still bi regardless even if he’s having sex with a cis woman or not), but as a non-binary afab sapphic person I’m tired of not seeing more trans and enby and sapphic and ace representation. As in, visibly queer elves and their pairings.
And I originally started this sideblog to have more of that, not less.
I’m going to finish out any requests I have already along cishet veins and any NSFW alphabet requests since I usually do reader gender neutral anyway, so don’t worry about that. And Haldir and his OFC wife will probably be around to a certain extent because I kind of love her, but overall moving forward I’ve made the decision to only write visibly queer fics, imagines, etc. Eg, at least one person being gender neutral or trans or it being a non-het pairing. I may make exceptions for some polyamorous fics because that’s outside typical societal constraints, as well.
I will probably make some exceptions if someone reaches out for something specific or for a personal choice, but I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. It’s just that the majority of what I write will be visibly queer.
If you’re offended, you may want to take a look at why you’re offended. Positive representation matters, especially in a world where queer people are being increasingly persecuted and hate-crimed if you weren’t already where they live.
And again, I’ll finish out any cishet requests and I will make occasional exceptions (idk maybe it’s your birthday ya know), so please reach out if you have any questions or want to discuss.
Stay safe, stay strong, and as always (no matter the time of year): Happy Pride.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions and I’ll do my best to address them. Thanks and Happy Holidays! ❤️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

If you’re curious, some things I’m currently working on:
NSFW Sapphic Alphabet Tauriel
NSFW Arwen’s wife getting revenge for all her teasing
NSFW Galadriel absolutely ruining a sub with her strap
SFW Arwen and her wife relaxing in the gardens
And honestly, I love a trans and/or non-binary Haldir so I may not even change much there

from the WIP Title Tag Game - Arwen and & Eowyn?
A conversation between the two of them about lineage and bloodline, particularly in relation to both Arwen's complex family history and to the differences between the expression and realization of gender identity among men and elves. For instance:
"And I have learned something as well," Arwen said, "and I thank you for that, my friend. For in all my years upon this world, I never knew how thoroughly Men were bound to the shaping of their bones and flesh." She looked down at her hands, still as smooth and long-fingered as that of any elf, and yet as sundered from elvenkind as those of any mortal Man. "Such weight the flesh of Men must bear, to be so frozen in its shape and yet divided from its soul!"
Éowyn put her hand into one of Arwen's palms and gave it a tight, comforting squeeze. "It is not so bad as all that, my lady," she said. "We learn to work around the limits of our flesh, when those limits are all the world we know. My Faramir found himself within the secret shape of his own heart, and I found myself beneath a borrowed helm and under the weight of heavy wounds. We mostly find ourselves one way or the other, in the end."
Mostly an excuse for me to world-build because that's something you can say about absolutely none of my other stories oh no.

an elf who transitioned after the rest of their family died or returned to Valinor, crossing the Sea 1000+ years later and knowing that none of the people they're reuniting with will recognize them and their new name. is there some kind of ceremony for re-introducing yourself? or can elves just recognize you by your soul anyway? ...or, alt: would you fuck with people by asking for gossip about yourself to see what they'll say before telling them who you are? elves with 1000+ year transitions pls
Great thoughts, anon. So many wonderful options to play around with there, we love it.

sorry but would you be willing to elaborate on Kabru being a trans allegory? I'm trans myself + a Kabru fan but this never really occurred to me (just thought people made him trans since it's cool)
the whole thing with milsiril and all the doll imagery associated with her as symbolism of how she sees him as a doll she wants to keep and take care of is something a lot of transmascs can relate to. even though he loves her, he does NOT want to go back home to live with her again.
also him needing to mask and adapt his personality to certain people can mean a LOT of things, but you can visualize that a stealth trans guy would want to do this sort of thing for safety reasons
and to the shallower, surface level visual stuff:
he looked very feminine as a child and wore a dress. elf males can wear skirts/dresses, but you can infer that he didn’t like wearing one as you see him wearing shorts as an older child
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he’s 170cm(average tallman female height) of course you can say “that doesn’t mean anything” but it’s a funny coincidence, don’t think too much about it.
okay this is just me hypothesizing through the existing text:
you can assume that elves view tallmen as inherently masculine the way dwarves see them as inherently feminine as marcille feels like the actors for the tallman adaptation of the daltian clan don’t fit elf beauty standards, so he didn’t have trouble being seen as a boy while living with milsiril
he spent four years living independently before the story starts. i’m sure he’d have access to masculinizing medicine during that time
of course, this all can be applied to other parts of his character, but there’s nothing that contradicts this headcanon. an allegory doesn’t always have to be intentional after all, but seeing how ryoko kui has made one-shot manga about unambiguously transgender/genderqueer characters, it’s really not impossible to have this reading of him.
obviously, you can still headcanon a character as trans without any “evidence” or even if it’s contradictory with their backstory, but it’s neat how all the puzzle pieces fall into place

Sword gays showdown, round 3, bracket three
Propaganda:
For Ballister:
he could tell when his sword was switched out for a fake, graduated top of his class so we know he's a good fighter, also the scene where he's fighting is hot because he's so confident with a sword in his hand, also he's gay
A canonically gay, disabled, South Asian man takes down the government with his genderqueer shapeshifter sidekick/adopted daughter! He has a swordfight with his ex-boyfriend! in which he defeats about 20 knights singlehandedly!
top of his knight class this man is a master swordsman
(Movie) He has used a sword since he broke into the Institutes training ground and ended up becoming a knight
He has very divorced vibes with Ambrosius and he uses a sword.
He's a legit knight! So, it's in the fine print.
According to the Nimona movie, Ballister here has been practicing the art of sword fighting since childhood to earn the trust of the city and he was SO CLOSE to becoming a knight. He's also definitely not dating another one of his knight mates (?). Nope. Not at all. This movie is super straight /s I think he also beats an entire army of knights with nothing but his sword and a chaotic good shapshifter so that's pretty cool. He's also south Asian, has a prosthetic arm he made himself and is honestly such a goofy guy (in a good way ofc) if that's anything.
For Amaya:
Badass super strong disabled lesbian general who can and will take you out. Doesn't need a sword to punch you into next week, but will use one anyway.
She’s married to another sword gay and she’s also disabled so I love her very much
First deaf character I saw in any cartoon, she's very badass and protects her kingdom's border, later falls in love with an elf warrior princess she once fought. In the new season, they're planning their wedding while trying to navigate political tensions between the elf society and humans. Some of the elves aren't super into the idea of a human marrying one of them, which isn't for homophobic reasons but still (I believe) meant to mirror real world conservatives (really liked a scene with Janai's brother telling Amaya she's fine as a girlfriend for Janai but actually *marrying* her is too controversial and political. Whoever wrote this did a really good job).
She’s currently engaged to another lady, she uses a sword, is a general badass.
General Amaya is a standard sword lesbian with a cool shield and some funny "lines" example: "This bread is...." *bashes bread on table with no damage to the bread* "Weapons grade"

This might be considered somewhat controversial, but I’ve started to become uncomfortable with the term “nonbinary” and how it has started to become used as a singular third gender instead of a wide spectrum of gender identities and experiences that fall outside the binary of male and female.
I myself am agender, and although that technically means I fall under the nonbinary umbrella this new trend of viewing nonbinary as a third gender has started to make it feel kinda weird and wrong when someone calls me nonbinary. And I feel like the fact that I’m starting to feel uncomfortable with what was originally supposed to be an inclusive term, shows how badly people have twisted its meaning. We moved from a two gender binary into a three gender binary and no one did anything to stop it. This is not the kind of inclusivity we originally wanted.
I’m not saying nonbinary is a bad term to use but it has started to make me uncomfortable and I’ve grown to prefer being called genderqueer or simply agender or genderless. I’m just trying to point out how I feel that the term is no longer as inclusive as it should have been due to people seeing it as some weird quirky third gender for exclusively androgynous people who all wanna dress up as elves and be silly little forest cryptids (I’m not saying that that’s bad cause I personally think cryptidcore is awesome! I’m just pointing out how the stereotypical view of an enby isn’t really inclusive to lots of people that fall under the nonbinary spectrum, not all of us are androgynous with brightly dyed hair). I’m just sick of being shoved into more boxes. Nonbinary wasn’t supposed to be just a quirky aesthetic

So I’m just gonna say it. Finwe had 15 grandchildren and only two of them are female? Statistically it’s possible but come on, the odds are staggering. The Doylist explanation of this of course is good old fashioned gender roles, the Finweans were all extremely important and powerful, also mostly warriors and leaders, so Tolkien probably didn’t want to write too many of them as women. You know, he wanted these to be main characters. Tolkien doesn’t really seem to want to write many women at all which is a pity because the ones he did write were amazing.
The Watsonian explanation however is a lot more fun. Because I tend to believe that in universe a lot of them were actually female and a few transmasc as well and that some mortal historians along the line took one look at their story and thought ‘well this was clearly a warrior so they must be male,’ and they don’t really question it too much because Elvish names? Really androgynous (Maedhros? Caranthir? Laurefindel?!). So all of a sudden people are reading about the seven sons of Feanor and High King Fingon. And they read about trans and genderqueer elves and they can’t figure out the pronouns but then they read about them leading people into battle and they immediately go ‘oh, ok this one’s male too, I was confused for a bit.’ Ironically this is really affirming for the transmascs.
So it actually was a pretty even distribution of AMAB and AFAB grandchildren of Finwe but they all gradually got turned into guys by history. The ‘sons’ of Feanor too, I mean seriously who has seven sons and no daughters. Also in what universe are Maglor, Curufin and Caranthir cis men? Not mine. Finrod is genderqueer (oh wait, that’s just canon). Maedhros and Fingon were gnc lesbians.

Okay like i actually feel so guilty and this isnt even a joke. i dont know how to say this without sounding insane but yes; wizards are real. i am one of them. no, i havent been to hogwarts. yes, i do have a wand. no, i won't show it to you. etc, etc. genuinely this weighs heavy on my soul. ive talked about this before but i feel like its important for me to write this out once again. j confess it: j was party to them what put that curse on jk rowling. (iykyk) like, bitch, im actually so sorry. it was never meant to go this far. i mean i never meant for... well, i dont think any of us did (originally) but now we are where we are, and theres no turning back. not now.
basically, there was a big uproar in the wizarding community after that play 'the cursed child' came out. idk, i never saw it. you see, jk rowling didnt actually 'write' the harry potter series. she 'wrote' it, but it was not actually 'wrought' by her, like... to put it bluntly, the original was all based off of real events (albeit with significant alterations) and ,madame, was the one chosen to write the 'muggle-redacted' version, because she has (distant) wizard ancestry. she herself is completely unaware of this. well then, anyway, then there was the fantastic beasts saga; and, like, we were ALL pissed off. even the muggles sensed that something wasnt right. it wasnt 'magical'. it was a disgrace. so... yeah... we did it. we... uh... put that powder on her doorstep, so to speak. we crossed some bones. it was actually nothing to do with transness at all to begin with, it was about some political shit to do with the labour party and jeremy corbyn? or something like that? idk, were not supposed to vote and be political, we have our own kings and queens. anyway yeah we were just sore about how we were portrayed in it and especially how she distorted the whole plotline about grindelwald and harrys children. like bitch, if youre listening, tell me: WHY DIDNT YOU WRITE 'THE FOUR MARAUDERS' LIKE YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO!? OR 'THE LIFE AND TIMES OF ALBUS DUMBLEDORE' OR 'HOGWARTS A HISTORY'? or ANYTHING ELSE! it could have all been so different... 'fantastic beasts'??? sorry what??? it was genuinely like smearing dogshite upon our screens. im sorry love, but were still right angry about it. we loved you... how... how could you? 'newt scamander' - who is this fellow? we have never heard of him. oh, what? did you feel some tingle of inspiration? some new character, who loves magical creatures. he was expelled from hogwarts... fond relationship with dumbledore... THATS HAGRID! THATS THE YOUNG HAGRID! FUCK! anyway yeah, i didnt watch any of the other ones cus it was just embarrassing to see johnny depp dressed up like that.
and ofcourse there was all the other stuff before that (dont forget to be awesome!) but basically we cast a spell, several spells, and sent evil fortunes to be upon her. i regret it deeply. but by gum was the woman strong! i beg you all to realise that she literally was not transphobic until we caused this incessant stream of abuse to be directed towards her. like, we literally did this to her. on purpose. it was a targeted campaign of psychic harassment and manipulation that we have put her through for YEARS, and its only a few months ago that she truly started to crack. weve all since disbanded, because covens never stay together very long; thats why hogwarts is only a dream - but the spells have been spoken and the weird it is weft, and it would be a strong hand that would unweave them. that is to say - it is ongoing, and i am so sorry sorry sorry sorry
and for the record :- transexuality/homosexuality/genderqueerness/goatfucking is literally not an issue in wizard society we literally have potions that can change your gender in an instant or turn it back again, most of us have non-human ancestry, and we regularly trade our sperm and eggs with other species such as elves and the chinese. so there.

CLASH OF THE WIZARDS ROUND 1-B BOUT 3
VAARSUVIUS (Order of the Stick) VS USIDORE THE BLUE (Hello From the Magic Tavern)
Propaganda under the cut!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PROPAGANDA
VAARSUVIUS "Breaking news! Local genderqueer blaster caster with elf-typical arrogance magnified by wizardly bullshit rents out their soul in a fit of anger and ruthlessness to save their family and is forcefully punted into becoming a humbler and more helpful person! Also, their spells include Bugsby's Cat-Retrieving Hand, Bugsby's Flicking Finger, and Bugsby's Expressive Single Digit."
USIDORE THE BLUE "The greater a wizard, the more names and titles he has - and no wizard has more than Usidore, Wizard of the 12th Realm of Ephysiyies, Master of Light and Shadow, Manipulator of Magical Delights, Devourer of Chaos, Champion of the Great Halls of Terr'akkas. The elves know him as Fiiang Yalok. The dwarfs know him as Zoenen Hoogstandjes. And he is also known in the Northeast as Gaismunēnas Meistar. And there may be other, secret names you do not know yet..."
"300-year-old failguy. Hates his wizard brethren for being more powerful and notable than him. Best friends with a shapeshifting badger and a random guy who got isekai'd into a medieval magical world. Exists only to defeat the dark lord, but no one listens to him or takes his quest seriously. Has threesomes with a vampire couple and lowkey is a weed dealer. Kind of a zaddy ngl."

Character Introduction: Vaarsuvius (they/V/none), from The Order of the Stick
Tumblr media
"This comic started in 2003 and a running joke of fans not being able to tell the party wizard's gender became them canonically being genderqueer by 2009. Their spouse and kids are also genderqueer. V is a very complex character who sought ultimate power to save their friends and family and fucked up severely doing so. A very deep look at that type of power hungry character with a redemption arc 14 years ongoing."
"In the setting of OOTS many elves, especially those from Vaarsuvius's hometown, are completely indifferent to the concept of gender and are often confused by outsiders' obsession with it. Because of this, many fans use 'they/them' or use the character's canonical nickname "V" as a sort of neopronoun, but V has never actually expressed any preference or dislike of any particular set of pronouns, and actually seems to enjoy the ambiguity at times. This could be read as going by any pronouns, though perhaps 'none' would be more accurate."
Trans webcomic character tournament master post.
The Order of the Stick contains frequent fantasy violence.

I started thinking about it and then I just didn’t stop
And with ‘It’ I mean Tilda’s gender
And after many thoughts about it, I have come to the conclusion that Tilda is gender-fluid. She still mainly uses She/Her pronouns (She doesn’t mind He/Him, but is not too keen on They/Them), but she sometimes present masculine, and has fun with that
I do think that to elves gender is such a fleeting and irrelevant thing that none of them even care or notice, but Legolas (Genderqueer icon) probably helps her out with exploring herself as much as he can
When masc presenting he mainly goes by Til
