but aside from these i also like the implication that kuwana doesn't even care if he dies as long as reiko isn't compromised. then kuwana practically groveling simply because he wanted to speak with her again, making small talk even under the time constraint. reiko's coldness towards him when he calls her for the first time in years, but balancing herself on him when things start to fall apart. they leech on each other so much. just very sad pathetic and desperate normal people.

i don't even know what to say other than ASKHDSKDHSJDHDJDHSJDGWJS because i get it so much but it's hard to put into words, how they are very sad people who are unfortunately very attached to each other. not a "we would find each other in any universe" pairing, but a "we found each other in this one terrible and preventable instance, coincidentally, but feel bonded because of our involvement in all of it"--or something.

I will say I get the vibe that a lot of peoples interest and support for strikers is a bit too much for a vicarious ‘burn it down’ thrill, rather than for the actual goals of a strike.

Like UPS has agreed to come back to the table and it is very possible they will concede to Union demands and avert a strike. And if that happens (so long as the union does not make concessions on its key demands) it’s a good thing. It’s a victory for the laborers. It is the same ultimate conclusion that a strike would intend to produce except without the workers having to go on (not so great) strike pay for a week or two.

Ohhh, I'm rereading Mystra's entry in the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide... and this detail:

This means Gale was punished for trying to restore and preserve what he thought was a lost piece of Mystra's magic. Gale being Mystra's ex-lover put aside. He as her follower, she his goddess, was punished for attempting to do the one foundational rule of her faith.

I'm seething and so sad at the same time.

Edit: I used the word punish loosely, as in, toxic/abusive people will take any small mistake or action and twist it into something they can take advantage of. This post was also largely from the stand point of a toxic deity rather than a toxic partner, but both takes are valid here. Especially with the, “you didn’t stay compliant so now I’m giving you the silent treatment” part of it—from a god and a partner perspective.
