Top 10 ChatGPT Prompts For Software Developers
Tumblr media
ChatGPT can do a lot more than just code creation and this blog post is going to be all about that. We have curated a list of ChatGPT prompts that will help software developers with their everyday tasks. ChatGPT can respond to questions and can compose codes making it a very helpful tool for software engineers.
While this AI tool can help developers with the entire SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle), it is important to understand how to use the prompts effectively for different needs.
Prompt engineering gives users accurate results. Since ChatGPT accepts prompts, we receive more precise answers. But a lot depends on how these prompts are formulated.
To Get The Best Out Of ChatGPT, Your Prompts Should Be:
Clear and well-defined. The more detailed your prompts, the better suggestions you will receive from ChatGPT.
Specify the functionality and programming language. Not specifying what you exactly need might not give you the desired results.
Phrase your prompts in a natural language, as if asking someone for help. This will make ChatGPT understand your problem better and give more relevant outputs.
Avoid unnecessary information and ambiguity. Keep it not only to the point but also inclusive of all important details.
Top ChatGPT Prompts For Software Developers
Let’s quickly have a look at some of the best ChatGPT prompts to assist you with various stages of your Software development lifecycle.
1. For Practicing SQL Commands;

Prompt Examples: I want you to act as a Graphviz DOT generator, an expert to create meaningful diagrams. The diagram should have at least n nodes (I specify n in my input by writing [n], 10 being the default value) and to be an accurate and complex representation of the given input. Each node is indexed by a number to reduce the size of the output, should not include any styling, and with layout=neato, overlap=false, node [shape=rectangle] as parameters. The code should be valid, bugless and returned on a single line, without any explanation. Provide a clear and organized diagram, the relationships between the nodes have to make sense for an expert of that input. My first diagram is: “The water cycle [8]”.

Love Lies

It was cold and windy and wet as you stepped off the quidditch pitch, rain soaking you to your core. Thank Rowena you didn’t have to play an actual match in this weather. No, that honor went to the Slytherins and Gryffindors and you did not envy them at all, regular practice was enough for you.
As you make your way back to the locker rooms you see students and staff already beginning to fill the open stands and shake your head with pity. No amount of drying or warming charms were going to make it a comfortable match to sit through.
Just as you're about to turn into the locker rooms you feel yourself jerk back as a green robed shoulder slams past you, nearly knocking you off your feet.
“Watch it dolcezza,” a familiar voice slurs over the rain, condescension dripping from his words.
Despite your better judgement, you turn to find yourself facing none other than Theodore fucking Nott, broom in hand, and signature cocky smirk pasted across his face. God you hated that boy.
“Call me sweet again you pompous git,” you snap, glaring up at the Slytherin.
“Why waste my breath on you?” He retorts, matching your steely gaze, his lip curling up in a sneer.
You had never gotten along with Theodore. It was no secret among your classmates that the two of you hated each other. Despite being in many of the same NEWT level courses, sharing a love for quidditch, and both of you basically residing in the Hogwarts library, you simply could not tolerate one another’s presence.
It was strange perhaps, you’d done the analyzation yourself. By all accounts you two should probably be friends. But no amount of similarities or shared interests could make up for the fact that Theodore Nott was an insufferable, arrogant arse who only cared about maintaining his perfectly curated reputation.
"You're right Theodore, save a tree a bit of work why don't you. Rowena knows that tree is doing more for the world than you are," you reply coldly.
Theo opens his mouth to respond, but for maybe the first time ever, you see the boy falter, if only for a split second, before he's back to his usual stoic self. He scoffs.
"Just forget it, you're not worth it," he mutters under his breath, rolling those pretty blue eyes as he turns to go.
You shake your head at the boy, scoffing yourself.
"Yeah, do your best to forget me Nott, because I won't hesitate to forget you."
Tumblr media
"Don't be mad."
"Just hear us out."
Oh dear god. As soon as you hear the combined voices of Mattheo Riddle and Lorenzo Berkshire, you know that you're about to be in for a ride. You look cautiously up at the pair from your seat in the library, on edge because wherever these two were, Theodore was sure to be nearby.
"He's not here if that's what you're worried about," Lorenzo offers with a nervous smile.
It's the kind of smile you would offer a skittish cat that you've cornered in hopes it doesn't bolt, and you had an unfortunate feeling that you were the cat in this scenario. Still you feel your shoulders relax a bit as the two carefully sit down at the table across from you.
"So uh. We heard about your, ah, little tiff, with Theo today," Lorenzo starts out awkwardly, looking like he'd rather be anywhere else in the castle at this moment.
"Bloody tosser never shuts up about you," Mattheo mutters so quietly you almost miss it.
You raise in eyebrow at the two boys in front of you, waiting for them to get to the point as Lorenzo gives Mattheo a sharp jab to the ribcage.
"Anyway," Lorenzo continues a bit too loudly, "There was a bit of an incident at the quidditch match today."
"Yeah, Slytherin lost. Again. I heard," you cut in, trying to wrap this up.
"Okay, ouch," Mattheo mutters once more, earning a glare from both you and Lorenzo.
"Did you also happen to hear that Theo was knocked of his broom?" Lorenzo asks.
Oh shit. As much as you couldn't stand Theodore, it's not as if you wanted the boy to get hurt. And you knew from personal experience, any quidditch injury should be taken rather seriously. But then, why were Theodore's two best friends sitting here in the library with you and not in the hospital wing with him?
You narrow your eyes at the boys across from you.
"So what does this all have to do with me? Nothing good could possibly come of you two starting the conversation with 'don't be mad' and 'just hear us out'."
Lorenzo fidgets nervously, shifting in his seat and Mattheo refuses to make eye contact with you. You truly had never seen the ever stone cold Slytherin boys look so wildly uncomfortable before.
"He got knocked out and when he woke up he was convinced the two of you are madly in love," Lorenzo rushes out, flinching back as if waiting for you to yell at him.
"And now the smitten tosser is requesting the presence of his beloved. He's really torn up about it too," Mattheo adds looking the most serious he’d been, probably ever.
But you were having none of it.
"Alright, hahaha, you almost had me there, you two actually sounded pretty sincere for a bit, but seriously it's not funny anymore. There's simply no reality where Theodore is in love with me, that's disgusting and I'm not stupid."
Mattheo and Lorenzo glance at each other with knowing looks before sighing in unison.
"On Salazar's good name, we are not lying or joking about this," Mattheo says solemly.
"And we didn't want to involve you in this whole thing anyway. We know about how well you and Theo get along. It's just that Madam Pomfrey is concerned that, until she's able to brew something to get Theo's head back on right, any world crushing stress or shock might have lasting, long-term psychological effects or what have you," Lorenzo finishes, emphasizing his last point rather strongly.
You continue to stare at the two boys in front of you as if their heads had been replaced by hippogriffs, slowly understanding what they were asking of you.
“Oh absolutely not. There’s literally no way. I’m not going up there.”
Tumblr media
You hated the smell of the hospital wing. It was far too... sterile. Unnervingly so. The last hour of your life had been a blur and frankly you still weren't entirely sure how Lorenzo and Mattheo had managed to wrangle you all the way up to the hospital wing, but here you were.
As you make your way to the large double doors that lead into the infirmary, you send one last pointed glare to the pair of Slytherins behind you before turning, steeling yourself as you prepare for the worst.
The first thing you notice when you enter the brightly lit room is how strangely peaceful it is. As you quietly approach the rows of narrow hospital beds, the second thing you notice is how normal Theodore looks lying there asleep. There's no snarling lips, raised eyebrows, or biting words, it's just Theo. Tilting your head a bit, you're able to really admire the boy for the first time, not worrying about what insult he's going to throw at you next. He actually was rather attractive, you could see why so many of your classmates practically threw themselves at his feet. Maybe you would too if he weren't such an insufferable prat.
Just as you’re about to finally feel a bit more at ease, Theodore has to go and ruin it, because of course he does, by shifting a bit in his bed, eyes fluttering before settling softly on you.
“Morning dolcezza, finally come to see me hm?” he asks, lips curling up into a sickeningly sweet smile. You can see the adoration in his eyes as he looks up at you.
It should’ve been a sweet moment. Something straight out of a romance movie perhaps, but all you could hear was the way he had snarled ‘dolcezza’ at you earlier that day. Nothing but hatred and malice on his face. Not, this. Whatever it was.
“Please don’t call me that,” you blurt out, your body subconsciously stiffening, ready for whatever Theodore was about to throw back at you.
Instead though, he looks hurt. A frown flickers across his face making him look like a kicked puppy and you instantly feel a wave of guilt crash over you.
What the hell had happened out on that quidditch pitch.
Before the situation could get any more uncomfortable than it already was, Madame Pomfrey saves the day as she comes whisking into the hospital wing to check up on her charge.
“Hello dearie, you must be the one Mr. Nott has been going on about all evening,” she says with a knowing glance as she gives Theodore a quick inspection. “Now it’s been my understanding that Mr. Nott hasn’t quite been, well, himself since he woke up. Unfortunately, the specific brew that’s needed for these kinds of things takes a full moon cycle to whip up. Until then...”
You stare at the witch in horror. The idea of being stuck with Theodore for the next month made you want to vomit.
“I feel fine,” Theodore protests, shoving himself into a sitting position and reaching out to clasp onto your hand.
It takes everything in you to not recoil away and you shoot a look at Madam Pomfrey, hoping she’d speak some reason into the boy.
“Well, if you’re sure,” she says instead, “Mr. Nott is clear to go, but do come back if you start feeling dizzy again, I simply won’t have another student fainting in the corridors.”
With that, she ushers Theodore up and out of bed before shooing the both of you out of the hospital wing.
Once the metal doors clang shut behind you, you feel Theodore reach out, grabbing your hand once more.
“Let me walk you to your common room then?” He asks, giving your hand a light squeeze, already tugging you in the direction of Ravenclaw tower.
Resistance seemed futile at this point, so you let the boy drag you along doing your best to avoid conversation and eye contact. You receive several very bewildered stares as you pass your classmates in the hallway, but thankfully no one says anything. Not to your face anyway.
When you finally arrive at your common room door, even the golden eagle mounted to the door looks baffled by your choice of Slytherin companion.
Before you can pull away, Theo presses a soft kiss to the top of your head and you jerk away from him.
“Um, I’ll see you tomorrow carissima,” he murmurs, eyebrows furrowed a bit before he turns and disappears down the corridor.
Tumblr media
The first week with Theodore glued to your side is, for lack of better words, literal hell. The next morning on your way down to the great hall for breakfast you simply want to melt into the floor in horror when you find Theodore waiting outside your common room door, garnering a good number of whispers and stares from your fellow housemates.
He takes hold of your hand once again and you begrudgingly follow, silently cursing the brunette boy and the rest of his bloodline.
“Have you finished the charms essay Flitwick assigned last week?” Theodore asks as you stroll through the corridor.
You want to burst out laughing at how comically mundane the question was given the absurdity of the whole situation, but you do your best to keep it together.
“Not quite, just have to wrap up the last few lines I think,” you reply, trying to keep it short.
“We can finish up in the library together tonight then,” Theodore decides.
You open your mouth to protest, but close it just as fast. If you were going to be stuck with this tosser, you might as well extort him you think begrudgingly to yourself.
You can feel several pairs of eyes on you as you sit down next to Theodore at the Slytherin table. Your blue robes stick out like a sore thumb making you rather self conscious. Still, his friends all greet you as if it’s the most normal thing in the world to have you sitting with them and you feel like you’ve entered the twilight zone.
As the rest of the week goes by, it’s all more of the same. Trying to hold back a grimace every time Theodore takes your hand or kisses your forehead good night, pretending you weren’t completely weirded out by the way his friends had so easily adapted you into their little group, ignoring the whispers and side eyes from other students.
Objectively speaking, this could be much worse. Theodore was actually rather tolerable to be around when you weren’t throwing insults back and forth. The real issue was that every time you thought to yourself that Theodore Nott might not be all bad, you’d get a sudden flashback of him and his friends picking on some innocent first or second year, or playing a particularly foul game of quidditch, or the time they’d hexed poor Hermione Granger’s teeth to keep on growing like a beaver's and you’d feel sick to your stomach.
You really didn’t think your hatred for Theodore was all that misplaced. When it came down to it, he and his friends could be down right bullies and you loathed the way they acted as if they were above others. Even now when it came down to it, your whole part in this little cooked up scheme was to protect Theodore’s ego.
It's in the second week that your perception on things begins to crack. You'd been spending a lot of time with Theodore and his friends and, you didn't really know what you had expected, but, it wasn't this.
It was the first time you'd ever been in the Slytherin common room. All dark and cold and dreary. Nothing like Ravenclaw tower, but they were on two opposite ends of the spectrum you supposed. You were sat next to Theodore, buried in your book, one that he had given you, and trying to ignore everything going on around you when a group of first year Slytherins come stumbling into the dungeons, huddled around a young boy who's skin was an alarming shade of electric purple.
You're not prepared for the way the students around you jump into action. Daphne Greengrass is by the boy's side in moments, wiping tears from his cheek as Lorenzo and Pansy interrogate some of the other's as to what had happened.
It had been some second year Gryffindors, one girl said her lower lip trembling. Apparently they had gotten their hands on some of the Weasley twins' underground candies and tricked the poor boy into eating a few.
You watch silently as Draco and Blaise examine the boy before ushering him off to their dormitory, confidently telling him a cure would be easy enough to brew.
In all the commotion, you don't notice Mattheo and Marcus Flint sneaking off to go find a certain group of young lions. But Theodore does.
"Better go make sure they don't take things too far," he sighs, rising from his place next to you and giving your hand a squeeze before following the other boys out of the dungeon. You don't even have time to protest.
You're about to just return to your common room and call it a night when Daphne finds her way over to you, having calmed down most of the shaken up first years, and sits down next to you.
"Sorry you had to see all that," she sighs looking tired and worn down.
"I didn't realize you all were so close," you state, gesturing to some of the older students who had seemingly taken some of the younger ones under their wing now.
"We have to be. If we aren't on our own side, who else will be?" she replies.
When she's met with silence she gives you a tight lipped smile before turning, ready to go.
"So when Theodore and Mattheo get into fights, is it always because—?" You let your words trail off, not really sure where you were taking this and Daphne turns to face you once more.
"Honestly? No. Sometimes they can just be massive pricks. They usually make up for it though." Daphne says as you nod your head in response. "We really do appreciate what you're doing for Theo," she says, switching topics. "I know you don't exactly see eye to eye, and honestly I can't blame you. I know how the boys can be. But between you and me, I've always suspected that he actually liked you, at least a little bit. Maybe this knock to the head got him to finally come to his senses," she laughs.
"I don't know about that. I'm pretty certain once Madam Pomfrey whips up that potion, he'll be right back where we left off," you reply, adding in your own nervous laughter.
"You're only saying that because you don't know what he was really like before. You don't have to believe me, but if you really gave him a chance- you never know."
"Maybe, but I'm pretty sure about this."
Daphne shrugs her shoulders.
"Suit yourself, but um, if you wouldn't mind, maybe don't go spreading this whole incident around the school? We try to keep these kinds of things, discreet. Don't want the other houses to see us sweat and all."
You take a good look at the girl beside you and then at the room full of Slytherin students around you, realizing for the first time that it really did seem as if they had the whole school against them.
"No, of course not. I didn't see a thing," you tell her.
Daphne gives you a grateful smile as she rises to leave.
"He'll be back in a bit. Probably be glad to see you still here," she says before disappearing to her own dormitory.
It's not long before Theodore finally returns, his face lighting up when he spots you still tucked cozily away in your corner, nose buried in the pages of your book.
Tumblr media
Theo was very confused to say the least. It had been almost three weeks since he'd been knocked off his broom in that match against the Gryffindors, and things just felt, off. Truth be told, he couldn't really seem to remember much of anything since before the fall. Not clearly at least. It was all fuzzy shadows and warped conversation, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't make sense of it all.
The only thing he was really certain about, was you. He remembered dreaming about you while he was asleep in the hospital wing, and how angry you had been that day before his match, though he couldn't quite place why. He had worried that that was why you weren't there when he woke up, maybe you were mad at him.
But then the next time he opened his eyes you were there, gazing down at him, and everything had just felt right. Your hand had slotted perfectly with his and he was sure that, out of everyone, you were the person he could trust the most.
So why did you look like you were in pain every time he approached? Why did you flinch away whenever his lips brushed the top of your head? Why did it feel as if you were holding him at an arms length?
All this swirled around in Theo's mind as he sat on the library sofa next to you, watching the warm glow of the fireplace dance across your face.
"Have I done something to make you upset carissima?" Theo asks, the words leaving his mouth before he can stop them.
You look up at him, startled by the abrupt question as you snap your book shut.
"No, why do you ask?"
Theo watches you turn your body to face him now, tilting your head as he furrows his eyebrows, trying to put the words together.
"I just, remember things being different, I think," he replies, hating how his brain wasn't letting him form cohesive thoughts.
"Oh?" You look surprised at his statement, eyes darting away from him and Theo can tell he's onto something.
"Was it before the match? Before I fell? Were we fighting about something carissima?" He asks again.
It's obvious you're thinking hard about what to say as Theo reaches out to take your hands in his. For once you don't flinch away from his touch, instead just staring at your intertwined fingers.
"It was something like that," you mumble as Theo rubs careful circles around your knuckles.
“I don’t think I remember a lot very clearly. It’s frustrating sometimes,” Theo admits. “But I remember you.”
“Yeah? What do you remember about me?”
“I remember how you always say hello to the painting outside of the charms classroom. And how you like to sneak snacks into astronomy. I remember the time in third year when we were flying on the quidditch pitch and you were about to get hit by a bludger so I had to move you out of the way.”
You blink at the last memory Theodore shares. You knew what he was talking about, but that’s not how you remembered it. You had been flying yes, when Theodore had come out of nowhere, shoving you while in the sky and then turning, laughing while calling you an idiot. You’d never even seen the bludger.
“I remember kissing you under the bleachers, and holding you by the fireplace. I remember you telling me you loved me.”
And that's where he lost you. Those memories, you didn't know where they came from, but for Theo, they were real. And who knew he was such a sap? You'd never thought the boy was even capable of having emotions.
"Can we start over? I don't remember why you were upset. But I'm sorry. I just want what little memory I have to go back to normal."
Theo watches as you let out a deep sigh. Every word out of Theodore’s mouth was like a punch to the gut, absolutely devastating any sort of resolve you had still been holding.
“Sure Theodore.”
“Just Theo,” he corrects as he pulls you into his arms, tucking your head snuggly under his chin.
Tumblr media
The last week you have with Theo, or at least with this version of him, you spend trying not to get too attached. You'd grown rather used to having the boy appear by your side to carry your books or to sneak snacks into the library for you when you'd spent the last several hours putting the final touches on your ancient runes essay. You didn't even mind having to constantly tell him and Mattheo to quiet down anymore.
As it turned out, Daphne had been right about one thing. Theodore and his friends could absolutely be obnoxious, arrogant, pompous pricks, but they did have their ways of charming their way back into your favor. The little parasites. They'd grown on you.
You knew that Madam Pomfrey had finished brewing the elixir before Mattheo could open his mouth just by the guilty expressions on his and Lorenzo's faces when they walked into the Slytherin common room. You'd been frequenting the dungeons a lot more recently, but it looked like that was about to come to an end.
"It's ready then?" you ask, tucking your book away as your hand falls to rest on Theo's arm.
Mattheo just nods his head as you all turn to look at Theo who's still focused on his own book.
"Hey. Madam Pomfrey says she wants to give you one last check. Just to make sure your head is on straight," Mattheo says, thumping Theo on the shoulder.
"Why? I feel fine," Theo replies, an air of annoyance laced in his voice as he's torn away from his book.
"Don't know mate. Just humor the old bat," Enzo sighs.
Theo rolls his eyes before reluctantly rising from the couch, offering you a hand up as well.
"Coming along carissima?" he asks, already reaching out for your hand, but you dodge away.
"I think I'm going to head back up to Ravenclaw tower actually. It's getting pretty late," you reply, feigning a small yawn.
As you exit the dungeons, Enzo catches you by the arm.
"Are you sure you don't want to come with? We don't know for sure that he'll, ya know, go back."
"It's fine Lorenzo. I just- I really can't be up there. We all knew this wasn't a real, permanent thing. I just want to finish my book," you reply, backing away. "I hope Theodore feels more himself, I guess."
You can see Lorenzo's face visibly shift as you revert back to Theodore's full name, his whole demeanor stiffening.
"Right well. Have a night y/n."
And then he's gone.
When you finally make it all the way back to your tower, you collapse onto one of the sofas overlooking the castle grounds, eager to distract yourself by diving back into you book.
"Just come back from the dungeons?" the voice of Marietta Edgecombe asks, dragging your attention away from your novel.
You nod your head, hoping your short answer would encourage the girl to move on quickly.
"I called that one so early on. I've been telling Cho for years, those two are going to end up together, I just know it. And I was right!" she says gleefully, giving your shoulder a little squeeze before flouncing off.
Tumblr media
“You came,” Theodore’s voice rings out from his spot on one of the stone benches that lined the walls of the astronomy tower.
“I did,” you reply carefully, watching as he leans back inviting you forward.
It had been almost two weeks since the antidote had been brewed and Theodore looked like he hadn’t slept at all in that time frame. You’d spent that time avoiding him, and all the Slytherins really.
You were confused and you hadn't known what to expect when Theodore came back down from the hospital wing. It had been a strange past month, and now you weren't sure where it left the two of you. What did he remember? Did he care?
You take slow steps forward, Theodore’s eyes never leaving yours until you’re standing directly in front of him. He continues to just stare at you, the silence becoming deafening.
“What do you want, Theodore?” You ask finally, growing frustrated as you let out an agitated sigh.
“Just to talk, dolcezza,” he replies lazily, patting the spot on the bench beside him.
“Don’t call me that,” you mutter, rolling your eyes but taking a seat anyway.
“Don’t call me Theodore,” he shoots back.
You feel your eyebrows raise.
“So you remember then?” You ask.
“I remember. Everything from the past month. And before.”
There’s another pause, less uncomfortable this time though as you both consider his words.
“So why am I here Theo?”
“Cause I can’t keep you out of my head mostly,” he replies, rather resigned to the fact.
“Have you tried?”
Theo gives you an exasperated look.
“Obviously. If I could, I’d just loose feelings for you, but it’s not exactly easy to fall out of love with someone you’ve been holding onto for so long. What do you think I’ve been doing for the last two weeks?” He grumbles stubbornly.
"What do you mean 'holding onto for so long'?" you ask, giving the boy a puzzled look. You'd hardly call a month a long time.
Theo just looks at you again as if silently willing you to simply read his mind. Unfortunately for him, that's not how osmosis works. With another long, drawn out sigh, Theo rests his elbows on his knees letting his head fall into his hands as he mumbles incoherently into his palms.
"Huh?"
He mumbles something again, louder this time. You squint at the boy, trying to make something out.
"If you're trying to confess your undying love for me, you're doing an awful job," you tell him.
This gets Theo to glare up at you, a pout almost visible on his lips. Oh how the mighty fall.
"I've liked you for years," he mutters, his chin resting in his palms now as he refuses to look at you. Pride really was a strange thing.
"Well, you've been truly terrible at showing it, you insufferable prat," you say, giving his shoulder a light shove.
Theo just let's out a grunt, watching your hand on the bench next to him from the corner of his eye. Dear Rowena, you had no idea how you'd ended up falling for this prick.
"But, I suppose you've been, significantly less insufferable this last month or so," you finish, carefully resting your head on his shoulder.
"If you're trying to say you like me too, you're doing an awful job," Theo responds, causing you to immediately tear yourself away from the boy once more.
A smile finally cracks Theo's lips as he smirks playfully up at your deadpan reaction.
"I take it back. I actually hate you. You are the worst."
"Aw, come on now carissima, did the last month mean nothing to you?" Theo asks, pulling you back into him, the same way he did that one night in the library.
"It meant literally nothing. You were being weirdly nice and clingy the whole time," you reply, begrudgingly feeling yourself melt into him.
It wasn't your fault you'd been going through withdrawals the last two weeks, okay? Theo's chest shakes with laughter against your head.
"Contrary to popular belief, I can be somewhat tolerable sometimes."
"Then why the fuck have you spent the last several years being such a prick? It was just pushing me away you know."
"That was kind of the point," Theo says, making you scoff. "Love is weakness and all."
God, the emotional whiplash was going to make you sick.
"Well, which one is the real you?"
"Can't it be both?"
"Not if you want me to put up with your sorry arse."
Theo lets out another quiet laugh.
"Well, you might have to learn to love both sides, because I do fear you're stuck with me," Theo responds, pulling you closer to his chest. "Now come here you little minx."
Before you can protest, Theo's hand has found your chin, tilting your head up just enough for him to capture your lips with his own. It's soft, hesitant at first, as if he's not sure if you'll pull away or not. But your hand finds its way into his hair, pulling him closer still as you move your lips against his, nipping, teasing. You can feel the smile grow on Theo's face as he deepens the kiss, his other hand finding it's way to rest on your thigh.
When you finally pull away, you can still feel his warm breath on your face as he presses a gentle kiss to your forehead.
"For the record, I still hate you," you say, still slightly out of breath, a teasing smile playing across your lips.
"I'm sure you do carissima. I hate you too," Theo replies before engulfing you in his arms once more.

Version Control Strategies : Git Best Practices For Collaborative Development
Welcome to the world of collaborative development where teams work together, code merges are frequent, and chaos can easily ensue. But fear not! In this blog post, we will unveil the secret sauce behind smooth and efficient collaboration: Git Best Practices for Version Control. Whether you’re a seasoned developer or just starting out on your coding journey, mastering these strategies will save you from countless headaches and bring harmony to your team’s workflow. So gather round, fellow developers, as we embark on a quest to discover the best practices that will elevate your collaboration game using Git!
Tumblr media
WHAT IS VERSION CONTROL?
Version control is a system that allows you to track changes to your code over time. It lets you roll back to previous versions if necessary, and makes it easy for multiple developers to work on the same codebase simultaneously.
There are many different version control systems available, but Git is by far the most popular. GitHub is a great platform for collaborating on Git-based projects.
When you’re working on a project with other people, it’s important to have a solid version control strategy in place. Otherwise, things can quickly get out of hand.
Here are some tips for using Git in a collaborative development environment:
– Establish a clear workflow before starting work on the project. Decide who will be responsible for what, and how changes will be reviewed and merged into the main codebase. – Communicate with your team often. Discuss any potential conflicts before they happen, and make sure everyone is always up to date on the latest changes. – Use branches liberally. They allow you to experiment with new features without affecting the main codebase, and make it easy to revert changes if necessary. – Make frequent commits. This allows you to track your progress and makes it easier to roll back changes if something goes wrong. – Write descriptive commit messages. This will help everyone understand what each change was meant to achieve. – Use tags to mark key points in the development process (e.g., milestones, releases). This makes it easier to reference specific versions of the code.
THE BENEFITS OF VERSION CONTROL
Version control is a system that records changes to a file or set of files over time. This allows you to revert files back to a previous state, or compare changes over time. Version control is an important part of the software development process, and there are many different version control systems available.
Git is one of the most popular version control systems, and it has a number of benefits for collaborative development. Git is easy to learn and use, and it has a wide range of features. It is also open source, so anyone can contribute to its development.
Git can be used for both small and large projects. It is fast and scalable, so it can handle large projects with ease. Git also has excellent support for branching and merging, so developers can work on different parts of the codebase simultaneously without having to worry about conflicts.
Git is an excellent choice for version control in collaborative development environments. It is easy to use and learn, it has a wide range of features, and it is highly scalable.
INTRODUCING GIT
Git is a powerful tool for tracking changes in software projects. It is especially useful for collaborative development, as it allows multiple developers to work on the same project at the same time without losing track of each other’s changes.
In this section, we will introduce Git and show how it can be used to facilitate collaborative software development. We will cover the following topics:
What is Git? Git is a free and open source distributed version control system. It was created by Linus Torvalds, the creator of theLinux kernel, in 2005.
Git is designed to track changes in files and directories, and it is particularly suited for tracking source code changes in software projects. When used for collaborative development, Git allows multiple developers to work on the same project at the same time without losing track of each other’s changes. This makes it an ideal tool for team development of software projects.
Why use Git for collaborative development? There are many benefits to using Git for collaborative software development: u0007version control helps keep track of different versions of code; u0007 issue tracking can be used to manage bugs and features; u0007 commits can be used as a type of change log; u0007files can
INTRODUCTION TO THE COMMAND LINE INTERFACE (CLI)
The command line interface, or CLI, is a text-based interface used to control a computer or server. It allows users to type commands to execute programs or manipulate files and data. The CLI is typically used by developers and system administrators to automate tasks or troubleshoot problems.
Most operating systems include a CLI, which can be accessed via a terminal emulator program such as Terminal on macOS or PuTTY on Windows. Linux and Unix systems also include a shell, which is a program that provides an interface to the operating system. Common shells include bash, zsh, and fish.
Using the CLI requires some basic knowledge of commands and syntax. For example, the ls command lists the contents of a directory, while the cd command changes the current working directory. Commands can often be combined to perform more complex tasks; for example, the ls -l command will list the contents of a directory in long format, including permissions and timestamps.
Developers use the CLI to manage their code projects using version control systems such as Git. Version control allows developers to track changes to their codebase over time and easily revert back to previous versions if necessary. By tracking modifications with Git, developers can create different ‘branches’ of their project to experiment with new features without affecting the main code base. Developers can then ‘merge’ their changes back into the main branch when they’re ready to deploy them.
SETTING UP GIT IN YOUR PROJECT
There are a few different ways to set up Git in your project. You can use a GUI tool like SourceTree, or you can use the command line. If you’re using the command line, you’ll first need to install Git. Once Git is installed, you can initialize a repository in your project’s root directory with the following command:
git init
This will create a .git directory in your project, which is where Git will store its metadata. You can then add your files to the repository with the following command:
git add .
You can commit your changes with the following command:
git commit -m ‘Initial commit’
This will create an initial commit that is stored in the .git directory. You can then push your commit to a remote repository such as GitHub or Bit Bucket with the following command:
git push origin master
This will push the changes to the remote repository, and you should now be able to view your code in the remote repository.
Tumblr media
WORKING WITH REMOTE REPOSITORIES
It can be difficult to know how to set up Git for a team when working with remote repositories. Here are some best practices to follow:
1. Use a central repository: A central repository is a shared location that all team members can access. This can be on a server somewhere, or even just a shared folder on Dropbox. The important thing is that everyone has access to it.
2. Use branches: When working with remote repositories, it’s important to use branches. This way, you can work on your own changes without affecting the main codebase. Then, when you’re ready, you can merge your changes back into the main branch.
3. Don’t commit directly to the master branch: The master branch should be considered the stable codebase that everyone works off of. If you make changes directly to it, it can cause problems for other people who are working on the same codebase. Instead, create a new branch for your changes, and then merge that branch into the master when it’s ready.
4. Communicate with your team: When you’re working with remote repositories, communication is key. Make sure everyone knows what changes are being made, and why. That way, if there are any problems, they can be quickly ironed out.
WORKING WITH BRANCHES
Working with branches is one of the most important aspects of using Git for collaborative development. In this section, we’ll cover some best practices for working with branches in a collaborative environment.
When creating a new branch, it’s important to give it a descriptive name that accurately reflects the changes you’re making. This will help other developers understand what the branch is for and make it easier to merge back into the main development branch later.
It’s also important to remember that branches are cheap and easy to create in Git, so don’t be afraid to experiment! If you’re not sure whether a certain change will work or not, create a branch and try it out. Once you’ve verified that the change works as expected, you can merge it back into the main development branch.
If you’re working on a complex feature that will take some time to complete, it’s often best to create a dedicated feature branch for it. This way, other developers can continue working on other parts of the codebase while you’re working on your feature. Once the feature is complete, you can merge your branch back into the main development branch.
COLLABORATIVE DEVELOPMENT WITH GIT
Git is a powerful tool for collaborative development. When used properly, it can help teams work together more effectively and efficiently. Here are some best practices for using Git in a collaborative environment:
1. Use a centralized repository: A centralized repository is the most efficient way to manage code changes and collaborate with others. It allows everyone on the team to have access to the latest code base and makes it easy to track changes.
2. Use branches: Branching is a great way to isolate changes and avoid potential conflicts. When working on a new feature or bug fix, create a new branch off of the main development branch. This will allow you to make your changes without impacting the main code base. Once your changes are complete, you can merge your branch back into the main branch.
3. Commit often: Committing your code regularly helps keep track of your progress and makes it easier for others to see what you’ve been working on. Try to commit at least once per day, or more often if possible.
4. Write clear commit messages: When writing commit messages, be clear and concise. Describe what changed in each commit so that others can easily understand what was modified.
5. Use tags: Tagging specific commits can be helpful for identifying significant changes or releases. For example, you could tag a commit when a new feature is completed or when a bug fix is released.
RESOLVING CONFLICTS IN NEW FILES AND MERGES
In a collaborative development environment, it’s inevitable that conflicts will arise from time to time. When two or more developers are working on the same codebase, there’s always the potential for one developer to make a change that conflicts with another developer’s change.
The good news is that Git provides a number of tools and strategies for resolving these conflicts. In this section, we’ll discuss some of the best practices for resolving new file conflicts and merge conflicts.
If you’re working on a project with other developers, it’s important to have a strategy for dealing with conflicts. Otherwise, you may find yourself stuck in an endless cycle of merge wars! By following some simple best practices, you can avoid most conflict situations altogether.
When two developers are working on the same codebase, it’s important to keep track of what each person is doing. The best way to do this is by using a version control system like Git. With Git, each developer has their own local copy of the codebase. They can make changes in their own copy without affecting others.
When a developer wants to share their changes with the rest of the team, they push their changes to a central repository. Other developers can then pull those changes down into their own local copies. If two developers make conflicting changes in their respective copies, Git will automatically detect the conflict and allow them to resolve it.
There are two main types of conflicts that can occur in a Git repo: new file conflicts and merge conflicts.
New file conflicts arise when two developers create a new file with the same name in different locations. These conflicts can be resolved by deleting one of the files, renaming it, or manually merging their contents.
Merge conflicts arise when two developers make changes to the same line of code in the same file. These can be more difficult to resolve since both changes must be merged into a single version of the file. The best way to resolve these is by reading through each change carefully and figuring out which version should remain in place. Alternatively, an accepted third-party merge tool can often help greatly with this type of conflict.
By properly managing your development process and using version control tools like Git, you can significantly reduce the chance of conflicting changes being made in the first place. And if conflicts do arise, having a plan for resolving them quickly is essential.
DEPLOYMENT STRATEGIES AND GIT WORKFLOWS
There are a variety of ways to manage code versioning and deployments, but Git provides a robust and widely used set of tools for tracking changes. In this section, we’ll discuss some best practices for using Git in collaborative development environments.
When working on code collaboratively, it’s important to have a strategy for managing branches and commits. In general, it’s best to keep your master branch clean and only commit changes that have been thoroughly tested. This way, you can avoid having to roll back changes or merge conflicting code.
One common workflow is to create a new branch for each feature or fix that you’re working on. Once you’re done with your work, you can merge the branch into the master branch. If there are any conflicts, you can resolve them before pushing the changes to the remote repository.
Another strategy is to use a gitflow workflow. This workflow uses two main branches: develop and master. The develop branch is where all of the day-to-day development work happens. When features are ready for release, they are merged into the master branch and tagged with a version number. This makes it easy to track which versions of your code are in production and identify which ones need to be deployed.
Ultimately, there is no single right way to use Git. The important thing is to find a workflow that works well for your team and stick to it. By following some simple best practices, you can make collaboration smoother and prevent major headaches down the road.
ALTERNATIVES TO GIT
There are many alternatives to Git for version control. Some of the most popular are Mercurial, Bitbucket, and SourceForge. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses, so it’s important to choose the right one for your project.
Mercurial is a fast, lightweight system that is easy to learn and use. It is ideal for small projects with a few developers. However, it does not have some of the advanced features of Git, such as branching and merging.
Bitbucket is a web-based service that offers both free and paid plans. It has robust collaboration features and integrates with a number of 3rd party services. However, it can be slower than other systems and has had security issues in the past.
SourceForge is a web-based service that offers free hosting for open source projects. It has a large user base and good community support. However, it can be difficult to use and lacks some of the features of other systems .
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, version control strategies are essential for successful collaborative development. Git is an excellent choice for projects requiring version control as it allows developers to track changes and collaborate on project files in real-time. By following our tips and best practices outlined in this article, your team can use the powerful features of Git to drive productive collaboration throughout their development cycle.

a touch that never hurts | fred g. weasley
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: you seem to have fallen for your best friend, which you could handle if only he didn’t constantly touch you word count: 3.2k masterlist
Tumblr media
It was official: you were stupid.
Only a complete idiot would fall for their best mate and here you’ve gone and done it. Because there was no other explanation for this feeling in your stomach as you looked across the Great Hall and watched Fred Weasley tell some stupid joke to his friends and wishing nothing more than to be the one he told the joke to.
He wasn’t even supposed to be here; just earlier today, Snape had given him detention.
While working on the assigned potion, he decided to mix things up to make you laugh after your bad day.
Before class started Snape decided to ruin the day and give everyone’s essays back. You flunked. Hard. After a big explosion and an awful lecture from Snape, any of Fred’s afternoon plans were ruined. For you.
You stood there, frozen in shock, trying to figure out how to go on with your life from here.
But how could you? This realization felt like the worst thing that’s ever happened to you—right after becoming friends with Fred Weasley himself.
You must’ve stood frozen in place for too long because he caught your eye and was now waving you over with his typical charming smile while the people around him were continuing their conversation, oblivious to the turmoil inside you. You briefly considered turning around and running away, but you decided against it. That would make this situation even more awkward than it already was.
Taking a deep breath and mustering a wobbly smile, you made your way over to the Gryffindor table. You exchanged greetings with your friends and headed toward a seat, hoping to get as far away from Fred as you could. But, of course, Fred had other plans. With a grin, he shoved Lee aside and proudly declared the seat next to him as free.
Bloody hell, he was making it hard for you. It’s as if he knew and wanted to torture you now that you had finally realized your true feelings. Feelings that didn’t actually exist; denial was your new best friend.
With no other choice, other than making this one hell of an uncomfortable situation for everyone, you reluctantly sat down next to him, trying to put as much distance between you two as possible.
But to no avail. As soon as you sat down Fred swung his arm around your shoulder and pulled you closer to him. “Thank Merlin you’re here. Could you be a darling and tell our idiotic friends that Snape does in fact secretly love me and that is the only reason he so often chooses to see me after class?”
‘Darling’ and ‘secretly loves me’, seemed to be the only thing your brain registered, not to mention that arm still wrapped around you. Has he always been this physically affectionate with you? It was hard to remember because Fred was looking at you expectantly as if he were waiting for something and…
Finally, your brain catches up, “Oh, that my dear Fred, is what we call detention. And wouldn't you know it, you're supposed to be there... like right now!" You playfully glanced at your imaginary wristwatch.
You could practically see the second he realized you were right. In a hurry, he jumped up from his seat and snatched the last food from his plate. But there was something important he seemed to have forgotten.
With a grin, you asked him, "Aren't you forgetting something?" Confusion washed over his face as he turned back to the table, searching for what he had missed, not finding anything. After a brief moment, he leaned down and surprised you with a kiss on your cheek. Speechless and mouth agape, you watched as the rest of the table erupted in snickers.
"You git!" you exclaimed, feeling your cheeks burn. "I meant your wand!"
Instead of being flustered like you, Fred found the whole situation hilarious. He joined in laughter with his friends and sent you a playful wink. With a glint in his eye, he swiftly retrieved his wand and innocently exclaimed, "Oops!" before making a speedy exit from the Great Hall.
Still trying to process what just happened, you turned to your friends, hoping they could provide the distraction and peace of mind you desperately needed.
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, George decided to torture you. With a grin, he leaned in and asked if you've figured it out yet. Your whole body tensed up, and you found yourself desperately wishing for an escape.
In your horrified state, you managed to stammer out a weak, "W-What?" The anticipation of his response hung heavy in the air, and you braced yourself for the worst.
George burst into laughter, which echoed through the Great Hall, making everything feel ten times worse. You couldn’t help but feel exposed, as if your deepest secrets were on display for everyone to see.
Through his laughter, George managed to squeeze out, "Bloody hell. Looks like someone forgot the essay for McGonagall that's due tomorrow."
You breathed a sigh of relief, realizing that he had no idea. How could he? You yourself just figured it out. And you’d do anything to keep it that way. You won’t tell a soul about any of it and just pretend that things were normal.
How naive could you be? How in your right mind could you ever think that keeping this from Fred was a possibility?
He knew you better than you knew yourself.
No matter how hard you tried to keep things like always it just wouldn’t go your way. First everything was completely normal, nothing out of the ordinary. You two would banter and share jokes. But as soon as he touched you in any way you panicked and run away from him.
You hadn’t realized how often he reached for you. It apparently had become like second nature for him.
At first you noticed the small touches, like accidentally bumping shoulders while walking together or him gently tapping your arm to get your attention.
But it was the larger gestures that pushed you to your breaking point, stirring up your traitorous heart even more. Like when he reached out and grabbed your hand in the bustling crowd of students during a visit to Hogsmead.
But the absolute worst was when he would slide in next to you, casually drape his arm around your shoulder and pull you close, all while effortlessly engaging in conversation with someone else. And what made it even more unbearable was that no one seemed to bat an eye. It was as if this physical closeness was an unspoken agreement between the two of you, that no one remembered to inform you about.
But as much as you tried to subtly keep your distance you could tell that Fred knew something was wrong. He saw it in the way you would purposefully choose to sit the furthest away from him even when the seat next to him was unoccupied.
You saw the confusion in his eyes when you started to avoid going to Hogsmead with the excuse of finishing your school work. He knew that this was never something that stopped you from spending time with him or your friends.
Since that first year you met Fred on the train, he’d been a constant presence in your life. You stumbled upon Fred and George pulling a prank on their older brother Percy. Instead of telling on them, you decided to join in on the mischief. As a result, Percy ended up with boils all over his face. From that moment on, you and Fred became inseparable. So, when you suddenly started pulling away without any explanation, it felt like the most awful thing you could do to him.
And you could tell that it was hurting Fred too. He wasn't the type to wear his heart on his sleeve; in fact, quite the opposite. But after all the years you've known him, you were priding yourself on understanding him better than most people in his life. He would never outright admit it, but your actions were causing him pain.
He would extend his hand, reach out, but as soon as he noticed that you turned away from him, he would pull back. In that fleeting moment, you could see the hurt and confusion reflected in his eyes, mirroring the hurt you were experiencing.
He even attempted to talk about it once. Normally, he would rely on laughter to uplift your spirits rather than delve into the realm of emotions. So when he approached you before your class, specifically to ask if you were okay, it created an awkward conversation for the both of you. All you could do was promise him, that if anything was wrong, you’d tell him.
What a lie.
His genuine concern shattered your heart. But it wasn't just him who could sense that something was off. You noticed how your friends would exchange worried glances every time you came up with a new excuse to avoid spending time with Fred.
Being around him became an unbearable risk, fearing that he might somehow discover your true feelings for him. It wasn’t just a simple crush; your feelings ran deeper, more intense.
Every time you witnessed his infectious laughter or his ability to light up the entire room with his jokes, a swarm of butterflies erupted in your stomach, consuming you from within. The guilt of keeping such a significant secret from him and the rest of your friends gnawed at you. But the thought of confessing your feelings and potentially jeopardizing everything held you back.
It has gotten to the point where you chose to spend your free time in the library. You knew that he would never step foot inside of it. So this place became your sanctuary.
But you should’ve known better. Fred Weasley may not be an overly emotional person but he was stubborn to no end.
One night after dinner, that ended with you leaving the table as soon as possible and an excuse, truthful this time, to do your unfinished homework you returned to the only place that felt safe from Fred.
There were only a few students left in the library. You grabbed your Charms Book and settled into a quiet corner, hoping to review your homework for Professor Flitwick.
But your silence was soon disturbed by the one person you wanted to avoid. Which was not entirely true.
The situation hurt, but you couldn’t help wanting to see him — even if only from afar.
Fred appeared to be searching for you because the moment your eyes met, he marched over to where you were sitting.
"Back to doing homework, huh?" he asked, glancing at your table.
"Actually, yes," you replied honestly.
“Oi, sod off. I know you mostly just sit here doing nothing — Lee saw you, you know?” he said.
“I don’t know what Lee thinks he saw but that’s not the truth. This is a library. I study,” you argued.
“Listen, I know you’ve been avoiding me. And I have no idea what I could’ve done. You’ve been blowing me off left and right. You’re being pretty obvious and I think it’s time we had this discussion.”
You stared at him, eyes wide open. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I already told you, everything is fine.”
“Come off it! We’ve been friends for years and I know when something’s off. You’ve been avoiding me and you have been for weeks. I’m done pretending like I don’t know that. And things aren’t fine since you won’t tell me what it is. What’s this really about?” his voice was low, but you could feel his anger seeping through.
But you couldn’t tell him; too much was at stake. You’d lose your best friend. Even the thought alone was too much to bear.
“Fred, please. I just… I can’t explain it to you,” you pleaded.
“Why the hell not? I’m your friend!” You appreciated his concern, but his persistence was becoming overwhelming. “If everything truly was fine you wouldn’t be hiding here all the time! What’s going on?” he demanded, clearly just wanting answers, answers you couldn’t give him.
“I really can’t tell you. Please, I’m begging you, let it go.” Keeping this from him was killing you. You felt awful holding this secret from him. Deep inside you entertained the notion that he felt the same, but doubts held you back. It was pain-filled hiding something so important from a person that meant so much to you. You wished that he felt the same way, but fear gripped you tight.
Fred's anger was palpable, evident from the fury etched on his face. Madam Pince was shooting both of you disapproving glances. You secretly hoped that she would kick you out, giving you an excuse to escape this conversation.
“No, I’m not giving up. I deserve answers and I’m not leaving until I get them, understood?” He defiantly took a seat right in front of you.
You remained silent, refusing to speak another word. The more he pushed, the harder it became to keep this from him.
“I’ve got all night. Nowhere else to be,” he stated, arms crossed, his gaze fixed on you. Still refusing to speak, you turned your attention back to your essay, hoping he would eventually relent.
After a few minutes, he broke the silence. His voice now calm and his expression blank. No trace of anger or irritation. It almost seemed like he had come to accept the situation.
“Maybe this is for the best. You clearly don’t want to talk to me, so I’ll guess I won’t bother you anymore,” he said in a monotone voice, before he abruptly stood up and started to walk away, not looking back once.
Hot panic was surging through your veins and in an instant you jumped up, to go after him. Realizing that you were about to lose him either way, you took a chance.
“I like you!” The words echoed through the quiet library, their volume seemingly too loud for the stillness around you. He paused in his tracks, but didn't turn around. Unable to see his reaction, you continued, thinking maybe it was better this way, shielded from the potential disgust his face might reveal.
"I like you, and I'm really sorry, okay? I just need some time to sort things out and get over these feelings. I promise, but right now, I can't be around you. Not right now. That's why I've been avoiding you. Please, please don't hate me," with every word, your desperation spilled out, raw and unfiltered, while your eyes began to burn.
As Fred slowly turned around, his expression was unreadable, and it felt like everything was falling apart. Immediate regret was filling you up. Maybe, if you would’ve stayed silent and kept on ignoring what was going on inside of you, there would have been a chance to mend the friendship later on. But now, it felt like it might be too late.
“You like me?” he asked, his voice filled with bewilderment.
“Please, don’t make me say it again,” you pleaded, feeling overwhelmed by the situation.
His expression slowly transformed into a wide smile, "You're not kidding. You actually like me?"
Confused and feeling a sense of panic, you asked, "Why are you smiling at me like that?"
Fred's grin widened, making him look like a complete idiot, "I can't control it. You've just made me the happiest person in the world. Do you have any idea how long I’ve been hoping to hear those words?"
Silence filled the air. Your heart skipped a beat. "What?"
“I like you too, I was just waiting for you to catch up,” he confessed with a soft grin, his hand nervously rubbing the back of his neck.
"So, that's why you were always touching me?" you asked, trying to make sense of it all.
He let out a loud laugh, quickly quieted by a stern look from Madam Pince. He sent her an apologetic smile before refocusing on you and speaking in a hushed tone.
"And here I thought I was being smooth about it. I've been trying to let you know for a while now, actually."
“Bloody hell. You mean you felt the same all this time? Why on earth didn't you say anything?" You were in disbelief, feeling like you were in a dream. Maybe you had dozed off while reading about The History and Evolution of Enchantments and Charms Throughout the Ages.
"Well, why didn't you?" he asked.
"You've got me there," you said with a quiet laugh, looking down at the ground. After a moment of silence, you glanced up and saw him smiling softly at you.
"So... what's the plan now?" you asked, seeking some clarity.
"You like me, I like you. It's pretty clear, isn't it?" he responded.
You squinted your eyes at him, still not fully convinced.
"Now I can touch you as much as I want, and you can't escape anymore," he said with a mischievous grin, taking a step closer until he stood right in front of you.
"Oh, Merlin. You're a git," you exclaimed, unable to hold back a laugh. "Why on earth do I like you again?"
“Because I’m just that irresistible, obviously,” he laughed, joining in with you.
You placed your hand on his chest and playfully gave him a nudge. But before you could pull away, he surprised you by grabbing your hand. As you looked down at his hand enveloping yours, he posed a question. "So, about you admitting you like me... do you wanna back that up with a kiss?"
"Mhm, I'll have to think about that," you teased, raising an eyebrow. "I'm not sure if you deserve it, to be honest."
He grinned cheekily and retorted, "Oh, I definitely deserve it. What have I ever done to not deserve it?"
“Let’s try and remember. Just last week you-”
As you were about to list all the things he had done, he surprised you again by silencing your words with a passionate kiss. In that moment, your thoughts faded into insignificance, consumed by the intensity of the kiss. His hand gently caressed your cheek, deepening the connection between you. Your emotions were running wild, and it felt as if your body was ablaze.
After a moment or an hour, he pulled back, and you took a deep breath, trying to regain your composure. Opening your eyes, you gazed up at him.
"Sorry, I interrupted you. What were you saying?" he asked, his playful tone laced with a hint of mischief.
“I can’t remember,” you murmured, connecting your lips with his once more.
You’d been wrong all along—falling for your best friend might have been the best idea of all.

Hope y'all enjoy ❤︎ ❤︎ ❤︎
'Acceptable company'
Sirius Black x Potter!reader
3.5k words
cw: fluff, secret relationship, pining if you squint
You didn’t mean to fall for Sirius Black. It’s embarrassing, really. Predictable. Your older brother’s best friend? Of course he’s the one who makes your heart flutter. You tried to ignore it, push the feelings down so far that maybe they’d just vanish.
They did not.
Sirius also didn’t mean to fall for you. He didn’t realize he was falling for you until he was in too deep. In his defense, when you arrived at Hogwarts and got sorted into Gryffindor, his first thought was ‘Oh, sweet, another Potter!’
For the first few years, you’d occasionally enter Sirius’ orbit. James would complain about how annoying you were, but Sirius never saw it. You were alright. You would give him a small smile while waiting for James to get you whatever you had requested. Sometimes you’d ask Remus for help on homework when Lily was busy; Sirius thought it was amusing that you refused to ask James for help. And until he joined the quidditch team himself, you sat with Sirius in the stands during matches and practices. You offered him your snacks and sounded like James when you spouted quidditch facts and critiqued the team’s form. Even when Sirius visited the Potter’s home during the summer months, you didn’t hang around him and James much.
Sirius didn’t know what to do with himself when he found himself wishing you would hang around them. When he started looking for you in the stands at his quidditch games and practices. When he suddenly offered to help you with an assignment because Lily and Remus had prefect duties. When he got uncharacteristically upset when you got your first boyfriend. When he realized that he was upset because it wasn’t him.
Luckily for Sirius, it didn’t last. Something about you not giving him enough of your time. You ranted about it in the common room. Loudly. Sirius could recall you saying, “Merlin forbid a girl has friends. And friends that I don’t have any classes with! Sorry I don’t want to eat dinner with him every evening!” James gave you your space despite his muttered threats about this boy.
That night Sirius couldn’t sleep. So he did what everyone does when they can’t sleep: he went to sit by the fire in the common room. And by chance, you were already sitting on the couch, legs tucked underneath you, as you stared into the dancing flames.
“Am I acceptable company?” Sirius asked, standing off to the side.
“Why wouldn’t you be?” you responded. You didn’t even look away from the fire.
He sat down on the other side of the couch before casting a wary glance your way.
“Maybe you have a vendetta against all blokes now. Dunno.”
You gave a dry laugh. “No. Just against gits.”
“Hmm, surprised I don’t qualify for that.” Sirius would be an idiot if he didn’t know that he could use some work on himself.
“Yeah… well… I have nothing against you.”
With your gaze set on the fire, Sirius took the opportunity to watch you. Because why had he been so happy to know that you broke up with that boy? Why had his heart skipped a beat when he saw you sitting by the fire in the deserted common room? Why did he want to smile when you said you have nothing against him? Coming to terms with how much he liked you was more difficult than he’d ever admit.
“I can feel you staring, Sirius.”
“‘M not,” Sirius said, immediately looking at the fire.
You sighed and turned your body so you could face Sirius. He looked back at you, his body still facing forward.
“I know I’m not wrong for wanting to be my own person. I’m not a… a… a thing to be flaunted,” you said, sounding and looking frustrated.
Sirius nodded. “Right.”
“And Sam couldn’t accept that. That’s on him. Not me.” You paused and your expression shifted. “Right?”
“Yes. Some blokes are a bit dense.”
You sighed. Then you fell forward, resting your forehead against the side of his shoulder. He gave you a slightly confused look.
“Are you alright?” You mumbled something into his shoulder. “You know I didn’t understand that.”
With a dramatic sigh, you sat up, but only to move closer to Sirius so you could rest your head on his shoulder without blocking your face.
“Getting there. I’m getting there.”
You sat like that for a while, neither of you saying anything. When you were ready, you thanked Sirius and then went to bed. He sat there for a little bit longer before heading back up to his dorm. He wanted the moment to have lasted longer. Sitting in that easy silence with you was something else.
For a few days, you regretted that night in the common room. Your brain was telling you that you had been too much, an annoying little sister who put Sirius in an uncomfortable position. You should’ve just let him stare and not said anything. Now that you’ve made him uncomfortable, you can tell that he’s avoiding your gaze whenever you’re near each other. Before, when you’d make eye contact with him across the room, you would exchange polite smiles. There was an acknowledgement. Not anymore. He won’t meet your eyes.
You needed to apologize for it, tell him not to worry about you. You’d find him after quidditch practice. You would keep it casual. Because you were James’ cool, confident, easy-going little sister. Not an annoying one.
Like usual, you watched the practice from the stands. You tried to watch all of the players equally, but you kept returning to Sirius. His flying was sloppy and he was missing easy hits. He was obviously distracted and Jame was biting his head off for it. It felt like the practice dragged on forever. But when it was done, you lingered just out of sight of the locker room door. You knew you had to ambush Sirius to get him to talk to you; the only thing that would prevent him from listening to you would be if James walked back with him. Maybe it was good that Sirius was distracted during practice – he wouldn’t want to leave with the guy who yelled at him for like ten minutes straight while on a broom.
You listened as the door opened and closed. James left with Marlene, both ranting about how the practice wasn’t their best work. Perfect. With James gone, you waited a little closer to the door. The seeker left, followed by the other beater, the keeper and the last chaser. Sirius was the last one. You waited for about five minutes before you started getting nervous. You had to keep your wits about you.
You opened the locker room door and knocked on it loudly, to announce your presence.
“Sirius?” you called, looking around.
“What?” he snapped from around the corner.
“Can we talk?”
He peeked his head around the corner, hair dripping and not wearing a shirt.
“Potter? Shit, what are you doing in here?” he asked, his voice suddenly much nicer and almost nervous.
“I was waiting for you,” you said. “Should I go back outside?”
“Um, no, just give me one minute.”
You sat down on the bench in between the rows of lockers and fidgeted with your fingers. You could hear Sirius muttering to himself but the only things you could make out were swears. When he came around the corner, he was wearing pants and pulling a shirt over his head.
“What’s up? Everything okay?” he asked, standing in front of you.
“I, erm, I wanted to tell you that I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable the other night. I’m good. Fine.” You nodded with a small smile on your lips.
Sirius furrowed his brows in confusion. “What made you think I was uncomfortable?”
He didn’t think he had shifted at all when you had your head on his shoulder. Maybe you mistook the quiet as awkwardness, rather than the easiness he felt.
“Oh, um, you haven’t been able to look at me?” Your throat tensed. “Kind of felt like you were avoiding me.”
Sirius nervously rubbed the back of his neck and looked away from you. “I have been avoiding you, but-” He clicked his tongue. “-not because I was uncomfortable.”
“Then why?”
“Because I was comfortable.” You tilted your head in confusion. “Too comfortable.”
“Okay?”
You weren’t getting it. Why was him being comfortable around you a bad thing? Why did it make him avoid you?
“Godric… screw it! Every time I look at you, I want to kiss you. I want to treat you how you deserve to be treated, so much better than how that git treated you. But I can’t ‘cause you’re James’ sister.”
You stared up at him with wide eyes. Oh. You stood up, making Sirius take a step backwards. He thought you were going to slap him. You took a deep breath, trying to steady your pounding heart.
“What if… I wanted you to kiss me?” Your heart was trying to escape out your throat. “We could just not tell James.”
“Not tell James…” he repeated. His eyes flicked between your eyes and your lips.
You took a step toward Sirius and he didn’t take a step back. Instead, he gently took your face in his hands and kissed you. It was soft and gentle and you wasted no time in kissing him back. You were about to thread your fingers through his hair when he pulled back.
“Are you sure?” he asked breathlessly.
“Yes.”
Not telling James ended up becoming not telling anyone. It was too risky. If you told anyone, how could you guarantee that they wouldn’t tell him?
In public, you were just James’ little sister and his best friend. Polite. Cordial. Sharing smiles and eye rolls from across the room. In the privacy of the common room late at night, when you knew his dorm would be empty, in random broom closets, in unused classrooms and the locker room after quidditch practices, you were more than friends. It was more than snogging too. He would read to you. You would bring snacks and have a makeshift picnic. You would sit next to each other, talking about your day and anything else on your mind. But yes, there was snogging.
You were doing a good job at keeping it secret. At least, good enough. Your friends caught on pretty quickly that you had a new someone – it was the only explanation of where you were disappearing to so often and how smiley you were when you returned. Sirius was proud of himself for keeping it from James, given that they had the map. He made sure that he had it with him whenever he was meeting up with you. Remus was the only one who seemed suspicious of his keeping the map so close, but he didn’t say anything.
But then one night after quidditch practice and a heated session with you, Sirius tied his hair up before heading up to his dorm. You had made a good habit of returning to the common room at different times after practice to prevent any rumors. So you weren’t with him to see that you had left a mark. Well, several marks along his neck.
“Merlin’s balls, Padfoot!” Remus gasped when he walked through the door.
“What?” Sirius asked, not looking at Remus.
“Did you get attacked by a colony of leeches?” he asked, now attempting to stifle his laughter as Sirius’ hand flew to his neck.
He forced a laugh. “Something like that.”
“Who is it?” James asked, sitting up a little straighter on his bed.
“Wouldn’t you like to know,” Sirius answered.
“Hiding his latest conquest… That’s new,” Remus muttered, turning back to homework although he was smirking.
“Yeah, since when don’t you tell us who you’re snogging?” Peter asked.
Sirius put his stuff away in his trunk and got out his own homework. “Since she asked me not to.”
James and Peter exchanged a look that Sirius chose to ignore. He wanted them to drop the topic. If they asked him to describe the girl, it would only take so long before they put two and two together. They did drop it. For that night.
The next day, walking to class, Remus asked, “So who is it?”
“Huh?”
“The girl giving you hickeys.”
“Told you last night. I’m not saying.”
“Ah, come on, Padfoot. It’s just me.”
Sirius shook his head. “Mate, drop it. I’m not telling you.”
“You’ve always told us who you’re with. Never had any shame in it. Why you getting all shy with it now?”
“I said drop it. She asked me not to tell you and… I like her. So I’m not going to tell you anything until she wants to.”
Sirius quickened his pace to get to class, leaving Remus behind. He watched him go with a curious expression on his face. Sirius usually bragged about who he took into broom closets, but he was being protective of this girl and that only made Remus want to know more.
The boys badgered Sirius about his mystery girlfriend more than your friends did with you. It went on for weeks after that night with the hickeys. Whenever Sirius came back to the dorm alone, various questions were launched at him.
“Same girl?” “Any visible hickeys?” “How far you’d get?” “Where’d you snog? The greenhouses? Quidditch pitch? Back of the library?” “What’s she like?”
Sirius brushed them off every time. He wasn’t going to give them anything, but that seemed to egg them on. They were determined to find out who it was. One evening, they started asking Sirius about the girl in the common room.
“Alright, Sirius, is she a Slytherin? Is that you’re so secretive about it?” Peter asked, shoving his Potions homework away from him.
Sirius didn’t answer.
“Is she in our year? Older? Younger?” James asked. More silence from Sirius.
“Ah, give us something,” Remus begged. “You’ve been seeing her for weeks and you’ve told us nothing!”
You entered the common room and Peter, James and Remus’ voices reached your ears. They weren’t being quiet with their interrogation of Sirius. So, naturally, you walked over to them.
“You’re being loud,” you said matter-of-factly.
“We have reason,” James said with an eye roll.
“And that reason is…”
He sighed. “Sirius here has been seeing this girl for weeks and he won’t tell us who it is. He won’t even describe her.”
You smirked and turned toward Sirius, who was already looking at you with a rehearsed neutral look on his face.
“Aw, that’s kind of cute. But come on, Sirius. It’s just the boys,” you said, gesturing to them. “Give ‘em something to get them off your back.”
Sirius swallowed thickly. You had just given him permission to say something. He tried to cover his shock with an exaggerated sigh.
“Fine.” He looked around the group, trying to figure out what to say. “Ah, got it. You lot know her very well.”
“Oh, that narrows it down,” you laughed, turning to leave the group, but you didn’t go far. You picked a spot on the couch nearby and took out your Charms book. You wanted to eavesdrop.
“That’s rubbish!” Peter exclaimed. “We know a lot of people!”
“It’s not rubbish,” Sirius defended with crossed arms. “I just eliminated practically all of the Slytherins.”
“And a fair amount of Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs,” Remus added. James and Peter gave him stern looks. “What? He said we know her very well. We know eagles and badgers, but I wouldn’t say we know them all that well.”
“So she’s a Gryffindor?” James asked, turning his attention back to Sirius.
He gave him no answer. Not even a facial expression.
“I think we can assume that much,” Remus said. “And it’s certainly not Lily. I know that much.”
“How?” James asked.
“Been studying with her when Padfoot returns from his rendezvous.”
“She can’t be more than a year on either side of us,” Peter said. “Younger they get, the more scared of us they are.”
“Valid,” James said with a solemn nod.
Sirius just rolled his eyes. He didn’t know if he could relax, but he needed to have a relaxed air about him. He stretched his legs out in front of him and leaned backwards, supporting himself with straight arms.
“Right, so that leaves us with what, twelve girls? We can narrow it down,” James said after mentally counting the girls in their year, the year above and year below. “We’ve already checked off Lily and we can check off my sister and Marlene.”
You hid behind your book so the boys couldn’t see your smile if they looked over at you. James dismissed you as an option right off the bat. They would never get it right at this rate.
“Cross off anyone he’s already been with. There’d be no point hiding it from us if they’ve done it before,” Remus said, waving a hand at James.
Sirius snuck a worried glance your way. He thought his hint was clever, but his friends were going to run through the girls quickly. And once they did, they’d have to go back over the list. There was no telling if they’d come to the conclusion that it was you. You flexed your eyebrows. He needed to turn back around.
You found it amusing as the boys tossed around names and found each one not feeling right. Sirius looked more or less mortified. He lost his relaxed air when he looked at you and couldn’t get it back. It was only getting worse as they moved on from girl to girl and then started renaming girls.
“We’ve listed everyone,” Peter said, sounding defeated. “Are we sure that he didn’t fall into the lake and is just too proud to tell us?”
“Why would he be by the lake after quidditch practice?” James sighed.
Something about what James said made something click in Remus’ head. After quidditch practice. He looked at you, at first with wide eyes of realization and then the wicked smirk of someone about to unleash hell.
“I know who it is,” Remus said firmly, not looking away from you.
All three boys looked at Remus, and then they followed his gaze to you. Sirius went pale. James turned red. And Peter laughed.
“Oh, that’s rich.”
“We do know her quite well,” Remus said.
“Padfoot,” James growled. “For the love of Merlin, tell me that Remus is wrong.”
You looked up slowly. You knew they were looking at you. You heard it go down.
“I can’t,” Sirius said in a small voice.
“At least he had a good reason for not telling us,” Peter said between fits of laughter.
“Yeah, Wormtail? What’s his reason?” Remus asked, clearly enjoying the building tension between James and Sirius.
“He loves his life. Because Prongs is going to murder him.”
“My bloody sister? You are mental?” James yelled, jumping up.
Sirius immediately mirrored him. “Maybe, yeah.”
James turned on you. “You! What do you have to say about this?”
You hummed and flipped a page in your book, as if you were disinterested in their conversation, as if it didn’t completely concern you.
“What the others say is true: he’s good at snogging.”
Sirius broke into a stupid smile because that answer was so you. A little bit of sass to your brother. It was also a compliment to him. James, however, did not like that answer as he turned a darker shade of red.
“I… argh! That’s my little sister!” James shouted at Sirius, and then turning back to you, “My goddamn best friend? Could you have chosen anyone else?”
Still feeling unbothered, you leaned forward and looked at Remus. “Remus is kind of cute.”
“Oi!” Sirius said.
“I said kind of!”
“Shut up! Shut up, shut up, shut up!” James roared.
He glared at you and then at Sirius before storming off to their dorm. You broke into your fit of laughter when he started up the stairs.
“I think he took that well.”
“So, you’re really… together?” Remus asked, watching Sirius run a hand down his face as he stared at the stairs James disappeared up.
You nodded. “When you’d figure out Sirius was seeing someone?”
“Few weeks ago. You left a mark.”
You tilted your head in slight confusion. You left marks on Sirius before only a few weeks ago.
“Oh, he put his hair up.”
“Ah,” you said. Then you looked at Sirius. “He’ll get over it. Let him cool down and come to terms with it. You’ll be fine.”
“He’s pretty pissed,” Sirius said, voice low.
“For now. He’ll get over it.”
“He’s pissed at me.”
“Mate, relax. She’s right. He blows up, but he always cools down,” Remus said.
“Yeah… right…” Sirius muttered before collapsing on the couch next to you. “At least I can kiss you in public now.”
“That’s what you’re excited about? I can’t wait to go on a real date-date with you.”
“Oh, gross… Maybe they should’ve kept it a secret,” Peter said to Remus.

'still wakes the deep' au
prompt: You're an environmental scientist conducting research on an off-shore oil rig with only a few days left before you're slated to leave. The eldritch creature they accidentally awaken throws a wrench in the works. Trouble Brewing masterlist
-
“Shit,” you huff, leaning back in your chair and crossing your arms over your chest, annoyance bleeding into your words as your frustration finally comes to a boil.
“What’s th’ matter?” Roper, another rig worker, asks. He’s taken to sitting with you in the lounge whenever his breaks line up with yours, one of the few men to not treat you with barely concealed disdain. You can't deny that it's nice to have company.
“Nothing—I think I may have accidentally contaminated the samples. None of this looks right.”
By this, you mean the papers spread out on the coffee table in front of you—print-outs of the water sample analyses. You’ve been staring at them for far too long, eyes practically burning after your tenth consecutive read through.
Almost everything in the sample analysis looks off. The alkalinity, the pH, the temperature, the CO2 and H2S levels—even the microbiological parameters are far exceeded. At some point, you must have accidentally contaminated the samples; only in a worse case scenario, such as a massive oil leak, would you expect to see numbers like these, and you would know if that were the case. It would be immediately obvious not only by the distress spreading like a miasma through the rig, but simply by looking at the water crashing against the jacket legs beneath you.
There’s something else too. Something in the samples that you’ve never seen before—almost like a faint iridescence to the water, a shimmer so light that it’s almost not perceptible to your eye.
So it can’t be that. You must’ve done something wrong when collecting your samples from the discharge point. It’s frustrating to know that the work you’ve done so far has been basically for nothing, seeing as how you’ll have to do it all over again in order to get a fresh batch of samples, but you just remind yourself that these things happen. It could always be worse.
A reminder of that appears right before your eyes when a guy on the other side of the lounge opens his trap and says to Roper, “Ye hear about MacTavish?”
Your ears perk up. Roper must notice because he just grins. “Na—what happened?”
The other man whistles through his teeth. “‘Twas a shit storm. Heard about it from O’Connor.”
“Och, spit it out, will ye? Quit keeping us in suspense.”
“A’richt, just dinnae tell him ah tellt ye—‘ah swear he’ll take someone's head off at this rate.”
The men whisper and titter about it all afternoon—how MacTavish got dragged into the rig manager’s office and ripped into over some offshore antics (fightin’—near broke a guy’s jaw for mouthing off tae him, one crew member tells you surreptitiously, again reinforcing the gossiping hen opinion you’d already formed of them). You’re not exactly shocked by the news, but the quiet that comes over the rig in his absence is a bit jarring.
Coming across him in the aftermath of the incident is, however, far more shocking.
You see him first from across the mess scowling into his food, a dark cloud hanging over him. His usual roguish countenance is swapped for something more choleric, foul-tempered. It’s incongruous with the image you have of him in your head, the one that sees him as eternally cheery; cocksure and braggadocious.
Roper warns you in no uncertain terms to give Soap a wide berth if you happen to come across him.
You cock a brow at that. “You think he’d hurt someone?”
“Na, tis nae like that. It wasn’y his fault that someone else wanted tae have a pissing contest. The lad’s just got an ill temper is all. He’ll gallus aff eventually—juist best nae tae git in his way until then.”
No sense in trying to decipher what he means by that. You have a job to do anyway and the issue with your samples weighs far more heavily on your mind than Soap’s bad mood.
Still, you recognize it as a distant cause for concern. Every so often it dawns on you how far you are from civilization—out in the middle of the North sea, surrounded by nothing but waves and men with voracious appetites. You grit your teeth and bear a lot as it is; unsavory comments and blatant stares, the kind of thing that registers as an ever present, unsung threat that you are impelled to ignore lest it be mentioned. Lest it be given a name.
Soap’s bad mood might not be something you have to worry about, but still you acknowledge that you should probably keep your distance for the time being. At least until his pride is mended and he’s back to his old self.
These days, you’re never allowed what you want though.
You’re around the bend of a hallway when you hear him coming, his distinctive thick brogue snapping at another crew member. Though your heart immediately starts pounding against your chest, there’s nothing you can do; the corridor behind you is too long to run back down without being seen and there aren’t any rooms to sneak into and use as cover. All you can do is stand there with your heart in your throat as he gets closer and closer.
The sharp dogleg in the hall keeps him from seeing you until he’s already on you, nearly plowing into you before catching himself at the last minute, a big hand slamming against the wall beside you to stop him mid-step. You flinch despite anticipating him.
“Jesus, bonnie, I didn’y see ye there. Make a bit o’ noise or somethin’,” Soap says, more brusque than he’s ever spoken to you before.
“Sorry,” you mumble, attempting to sidestep him.
“Ach, wait, ‘ah dinnae mean tae snap. Where are ye off tae?” he asks, stepping with you to the right so that you can’t pass around him. He’s quick enough that you walk straight into him, crushing your nose against his chest and wincing when you take a step back and wriggle it out. A hand clamps down on your shoulder to keep you from scurrying off any farther.
“Um…I have some things to do.”
“Things?” he repeats, waiting for you to elaborate.
“I have work. Didn’t mean to get in your way.”
“Ah’m no’ an animal, bonnie; ye dinnae have to run off jus’ because ah’m in a mood.”
“I’m not running off—I really do have work to do, Soap. That’s why I’m here, remember?” You realize that he must like it when you get snippy with him because the second you do, his lips stretch into a grin, blue eyes glinting.
“Want some help?” he asks.
“Um…”
Irritation clouds his expression. “Ah’m no’ gonna flip out if that’s what yer worried about. That shit with Rennick had nothing tae do with my work.”
That shifts the guilt around in you and gives it a bigger hole to wedge itself in. “…Sure. I guess I could use a hand.”
“Now, ye aren't just asking tae make me feel better, are ye? ‘Cause ah’m a big boy; I willnae cry if ye let me down gently.”
“Oh my god, Soap, do you want to help me or not?” you snap.
His grin widens, a new little mischievous furl to it. “Well, ye dinnae have tae beg, bonnie. Ah’d be happy tae help ye out.”
Of course it was nothing but a ploy for him to rile you up and get you to be the one to ask for help.
Back to the discharge point to collect fresh water samples. Soap doesn’t stop talking the whole walk, the onslaught of questions about your personal life and his own life offshore enough to make your ears ring. No chance of peace and quiet—not with him around, anyway.
On your way up a flight of stairs, you peek back at him to find him climbing with his hands on both railings. You’re not sure if it’s to keep you from slipping away or to keep himself stable, but if you were a bettor, you know which you’d pick.
Soap grins toothily up at you. You roll your eyes in response and turn back around, climbing up the last few steps. The ocean’s ever tempestuous winds howl in the distance.
For all your initial reluctance to let him help you, he proves to be a pretty useful assistant, helping you flush the sample point beforehand and then holding your equipment as you carefully fill and cap each sample bottle.
He’s such a help in fact, that part of you feels a bit guilty for the way you treated him earlier. Like a ticking time bomb. Wouldn’t you also be upset after being told off by your boss? You have the luxury of not really reporting to anyone on the rig—so long as you send your boss daily updates on the progress of your work and follow safety and security regulations on the rig, you never worry about being reprimanded. Certainly not yelled at.
You’re also surrounded by strangers for the most part, which, while sometimes alienating, also means that you’re not particularly invested in what anyone has to say about you. These aren’t your coworkers. In a couple weeks’ time, you’ll be flown back to shore and you’ll never see any of them ever again.
The walk back to your room-cum-office is different. Soap follows behind you quietly for a change, your additional samples in hand, and only the sound of his steel-toed boots clanging against the floor remind you that he’s still with you. You didn’t think he had it in him to stay quiet for so long.
He follows in after you when you reach your room, not bothering to wait outside like anyone with common sense would. It would be more aggravating if he weren’t so handsome. It’s hard to look at him and hold on to any real anger though.
“I—uh—I’m sorry you had a rough day,” you finally manage to blurt out.
He must eye you dubiously because you can feel the weight of his gaze. Not like he doesn’t understand what you’re referring to, but more like he doesn’t quite trust your sincerity.
“Ah must’ve been bonny crabby for ye tae apologize for that asshole,” he teases. You can tell through the joke that even now his pride is a little stung that you brought it up at all.
If his temper weren’t so volatile, you might actually be tempted to spend more time with him. You have to shake that thought away as soon as it comes to you though; you won’t be on the rig for much longer anyway.
“What’d you do anyway?” you blurt out, immediately thinking better of your words when Soap’s face darkens, nostrils flaring the slightest bit. “Sorry, that was—don’t answer that.”
“Nah, it’s no’—” he pauses, sucking air in between his teeth. “It’s no’ a secret or anythin’. Got myself mixed up in some bad shit, but it’s over, ah swear. Told Rennick that it wasnae anythin’ tae worry about, but he gave me hell anyway.”
“He seems like a dick,” you say in consolation.
“Aye,” Soap laughs.
He waits until you’ve packed all your samples away before opening his mouth again.
“Ye ken what would really make me feel better, bonnie?”
You glance over at him suspiciously, bracing yourself for something crass. You can feel it brewing—the culmination of days worth of purred words and heady glances, his interest so blatant that ignoring it feels almost pointless. He lays it on thick enough that you’d have to be blind not to have picked up on it.
So, it catches you off guard when instead of making a licentious comment, he just sighs, “Ah could really use a hug.”
That’s—that’s a bit more reasonable than what you had anticipated. Surprising enough for you to lower your hackles and turn to face him.
He holds his arms out in invitation, face expectant. That nearly makes you cringe before you catch yourself. You’ve been caught in this trap before—your tentative kindness leveraged for physical affection; pushing your boundaries at the first sign of weakness, like waging a siege on you—and even though your teeth itch with the urge to snap at him, it just doesn’t feel worth it. Easier just to capitulate and give what he wants. Just this once.
Besides, it’s just a hug.
His arms fold around you the second you step into them, constricting around your waist like two steel bands holding you in place. He hugs tight too, not an inch of space between your bodies, your breasts flush with his chest. Toes practically scraping the ground, lifted up by the strength of his arms.
The blood rushes to your head. Weak kneed. It’s almost a blessing that Soap’s arms are holding you up. Every inch of your body feels electrified, nerves spitting hot fire; even your scalp tingles when he rests his chin on your crown. You don’t like to think about it—how little anyone touches you these days and how starved your body is for it. Even offshore, you haven’t dated in so long that it seems almost incomprehensible now that you’ve ever dated anyone before.
He groans into your hair, lost in his own head. One of his hands curves up and around your back until it cups over your shoulder, anchoring you even tighter to his chest. You can feel the bulge of every muscle, the tensile strength vibrating under his skin, and it’s only then that you realize that he’s shaking.
The other thing you can’t ignore is the weight of his dick pressing into you. Your eyes bulge when you realize you can feel it thicken with blood against your belly. Even through the material of his pants, you can tell that it’s big.
“Christ, bonnie,” Soap whines, pulling you somehow even tighter to him, nearly cutting off your breath. “Yer so fucking soft.”
“Soap—” you squeak. “Okay, I think that’s—I’ve—I’ve got work to do—”
You tense when his free hand drifts down your back and settles right over your ass.
“Soap—” you hiss, then yelp when his hand drops even more and his fingers into a soft, fleshy cheek and he grinds his hips into your belly. You’re not sure if he’s even aware of what he’s doing, his hug devolving into something coarse and almost sexual.
You reach a hand up to grab him by the jaw and push his head away, struggling feebly in his hold until his arms finally give a little and you’re able to wriggle out, scampering back until you’ve put some distance between the two of you.
When you meet Soap’s eyes, you have to fight the urge to flinch. It takes him a second to regain control of himself, slack-jawed and hungry-eyed until he blinks and it starts to melt away. His chest heaves with his ragged breath. He looks every bit like a man that just got kicked out of bed before finishing, dick still hard in his pants.
“Sorry, bonnie. Ah got a little carried away,” he says apologetically, eyes so round that they almost make him look puppyish.
“It’s fine.”
It’s not fine. You’re still shaky and your thighs are suspiciously damp and you’re fairly sure all the blood in your body has rushed to your face because your cheeks feel like they’re on fire, but you also don’t want to acknowledge the obvious. The outline of his dick straining against his pant leg. The dark flush on his cheekbones and his glazed over eyes. The way you have to fight the urge not to stare at the fabric of his jumpsuit tight around his thighs and biceps.
“Ah’ll, uh…ah’ll see ye later then.” He takes a step back, then another, waiting maybe for you to say something. For you to tell him that it’s alright to stay.
You smile tightly instead, ignore the urge to call him back to you. Your smile only drops when he closes the door behind him.
There’s trouble brewing. You can feel it swelling up like a wave, ready to crash into you.
Under you, you can feel the rig shift with the water and in the distance, something howls.

Tumblr media
The cardinal rule of Gryffindor House was plain and simple—never ever make a bet with the Weasley twins.
Anyone stupid enough to do so either found themselves out a pocketful of galleons or worse, owing Fred and George a no questions asked favour that the pesky redheads could cash in at any time.
Unfortunately, you were a little more than tipsy off of a bottle of firewhisky and bet one of the twins, Fred? George? — you couldn’t remember which ginger you’d sold your soul to — that you could easily outfly him on the pitch during a quidditch after party. After a violent hangover, the annoying git actually showed up outside of your dorm with a Firebolt in each hand.
“Let’s see those skills in action then, Y/N.”
On a normal day, you might’ve managed it. You were smaller and lighter than Fred, which gave you an advantage in flight, but as your head pounded and your stomach churned, you knew there was no way you were getting on that bloody broom. Though your house motto was all about being bold and brave, you weren’t reckless enough to risk it.
Instead, you settled for a favour.
In hindsight, you probably should’ve just stuck to death by eating shit on the quidditch pitch. It would’ve been a hell of a lot better than trying to squeeze yourself into a stupid tiny little costume that bordered on exotic dancer more than scary witch, but it’s not like you had much of a choice. You had a debt to settle. Fred made sure to remind you of that.
While the rest of your housemates headed to the Forbidden Forest, you were busy preparing for the vital role that your ginger overlords had assigned to you for the night. Since it was Fred and George’s last year, the twins were determined to solidify their status as Hogwarts legends. What better way to leave their mark than throwing a huge rager in the forest? Thus, the All Hallow’s Eve Fest was born.
As far as your professors knew, it would be a small festival to celebrate the season complete with carnival games, enchanted rides, and cornfield mazes. All harmless fun. But the student body knew that the Weasley twins had something far more devious up their sleeves.
From what Fred told you, the night would be full of secret passages, elaborate tricks, and actors and actresses who would add to the whole allure. You were to be one of them. Tonight, you were playing the part of a seductive sorceress who ripped out the hearts of unsuspecting men.
You were practically made for the role, Fred joked.
You threatened to resort to method acting and grabbed at the front of his shirt with every intent to rip his heart out of his chest. Luckily for him, George came to his rescue and tore his twin from your grasp before you could inflict damage.
“See you at the Forbidden Forest at seven sharp,” Fred called as he tossed the costume at you. “Don’t be late, Y/N!”
At half past six, you almost considered skipping the event altogether, but that would mean owing the twins yet another favour. It was best to get this over with as quickly as possible. Sighing, you tugged on some fishnet tights and slipped into a pair of high-heeled boots that laced all the way up to your thighs. You placed a hand on your hip, frowning at your reflection in the mirror of the prefect’s bathroom.
“Are you trying to scare the masses or seduce them?”
You turned around to find your friend Chloe perched up against the sink, smirking as she raised a brow at you.
“I’m supposed to be a bloodthirsty sorceress,” you said as you snatched her tube of lipstick and painted your lips with a fiery red shade. “Know any men who wouldn’t mind having their hearts ripped out?”
She chuckled, swinging her legs in the air. “A few. The boys will be in skull makeup tonight, so aim for them first. Save the curly one for me, though.”
“You’ve sent Riddle out on that wild goose chase of yours, then?”
Chloe smirked and blew on her freshly painted nails. “He’s got until midnight to find me.”
“What happens when the clock strikes twelve?”
“Let’s just say that I’m fully prepared to live up to my house’s name and let him slither in.”
“At least one of us is having fun tonight.”
“Who says you can’t? You may owe Fred a favour, but that doesn’t mean you can’t cause a little trouble.”
You smirked in the mirror as you put on the final piece of the costume. The gold mask fit perfectly over your eyes and truly completed the sinister seductive sorceress part that Fred cast you as tonight.
“I like the way you think.”
Tumblr media
The promise of mischief and chaos helped to put a little pep in your step as you and Chloe parted ways. You didn’t even recognize the Forbidden Forest as you stepped foot into the haunted woods. There were colourful tents set up all around the clearing, some containing mirrored mazes and others promised fortunes readings. The combination of red lights and creepy fog gave the demented looking carnival an eerie feel. As much as you hated to admit it, the twins have really outdone themselves tonight.
After running through the spell that conjured a hyper realistic heart that you’d be ripping out of unsuspecting victims all night, Fred directed you towards the east side of the forest.
“Remember, it’s not a good night unless someone’s pissed themselves out of fear,” Fred reminded you for the thousandth time.
“You’re a sadist, Forge.”
Fred placed a hand over his heart. “That’s the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me, Y/N.”
“Piss off, yeah?”
He chuckled. “I’d tell you to act scary, but you’ve got that part down pat.” Fred cocked his head, examining your costume. “Although, would it kill you to show a little more leg?”
“It won’t kill me, but I might kill you.”
Fortunately for Fred, George plucked his twin away from your murderous clutches to start greeting their guests. By the time it was half past seven, the clearing was full of your fellow students. Despite your initial reluctance, scaring the absolute piss out of people was actually a lot of fun. As Fred predicted, you had a natural talent for it.
The first group that wandered into your neck of the woods consisted of your fellow housemates. Dean and Seamus led the pack while Ron and Harry followed close behind. The Chosen One was as pale as Peeves. Weasley, on the other hand, looked as though he might vomit at any moment. Leading the rear, Hermione shook her head and marched forward. Neville matched her pace as he nervously darted through the twisted roots choking up the forest floor.
You waited until their group passed through the twisted willow tree before jumping out. Dean screamed in surprise while Seamus scrambled away from you. Thanks to Fred’s little trick, your hand went right through Finnigan’s shirt which caused him to shriek in terror. With a twisted smile, you yanked the hyper realistic heart out of his chest and cackled in delight.
At the sight of the beating organ in your hands, Neville nearly passed out. Dean hauled Seamus to his feet while Ron and Harry hightailed it out of there. Hermione chuckled, shaking her head at the boys.
“Well, they lasted longer than I thought they would,” she said. “Stuck out here for the night, Y/N?”
“Unfortunately,” you replied as you vanished the dry blood with a quick spell. “Anyone you want me to scare the absolute wits out of tonight, Mione?”
She chuckled, shaking her head. “No, I don’t have any scores to settle.” You nodded, wishing her a good rest of the night.
Hermione bid you the same and started to follow the direction that the boys fled to. Before she disappeared through the thicket, a familiar, drawling voice called her back.
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t the golden girl.”
Draco Malfoy appeared in the clearing. There was skull makeup on his face, but the shock of platinum blonde hair gave away his identity almost instantly. He stalked towards Hermione with that arrogant aristocratic smirk, completely oblivious that you were lurking in the dark.
“All alone in the woods, little lion?”
Hermione’s gaze flickered towards you. A smile curved against her lips as her honey eyes glimmered with mischief. “On second thought…”
The golden girl hadn’t even finished the rest of her sentence before you yanked Draco by the wrist and pushed him up against the weeping willow. The blonde blinked, his silver eyes full of surprise and terror as you raked your nails along the column of his throat. The red varnish looked like blood against his pale skin.
“All alone in the woods, little serpent?”
Draco steeled himself. “And who are you supposed to be?”
You smirked. “I’ll be whoever you want, darling.” Malfoy shivered as you pressed a palm against his chest. He leaned into your touch, his heart beating erratically underneath your fingertips. For Godric’s sake, he was truly making this way too easy. “As long as you give me your heart.”
Never in his life had Draco Malfoy looked so terrified. The colour drained from his face as you reached through his perfectly tailored button down shirt, fingers slipping through the expensive silk material. You laughed maniacally and caressed his cheek.
“Brace yourself, sweetheart. This might hurt a bit.”
Without warning, you yanked his heart out of his chest. Draco stared in utter horror as blood dripped from your fingertips. The tell-tale heart pounded in your palm,  the mess of flesh and tissue covering your arm with carnage. To Malfoy’s credit, he didn’t scream or flee like your housemates. Instead, the Slytherin appeared rather impressed.
“The spell work’s not bad.” Draco said with a smirk. He lifted your palm and examined the heart. “A word of advice, though. I would’ve turned the heart black. It would’ve been more realistic.”
Just as you rolled your eyes, a deep, husky voice pulled your attention away from the blonde.
“Who even knew Draco Malfoy had a heart?”
You turned to find a gathering of serpents in the clearing. They were all wearing matching skull makeup, but you could clearly tell who each male was. The gang of Slytherins were pretty infamous and easily recognizable. The curly headed one had to be Mattheo Riddle. His gaze darted through the trees as though he expected someone to appear out of the thick fog. You had to hand it to her, Chloe had the Slytherin eating right out of her hand.
The one beside him stood a little bit taller and though his face was smeared in the same white and black paint, there was no mistaking Enzo Berkshire’s lopsided grin and soft hazel eyes. Flanking either side of him was Blaize Zabini and Pansy Parkinson, the it-couple of your year, which only left one other serpent to account for. The male that had spoken earlier had to be none other than Theodore Nott.
You turned your attention back to him, squinting in the faint light as he prowled towards you. Theodore was considerably taller than the rest of his friends, but not in the awkward scrawny way that most boys his age were. He was slim yet strong, sculpted by years of playing quidditch. The makeup only accentuated his high cheekbones and his ridiculously sharp jawline, but it was his eyes—those dead, cold eyes that had half the school swooning over him that gave you pause.
Theodore grinned as you released your hold on Draco. He cocked his head, arrogance and swagger radiating off of him in waves as his eyes roamed your body. There was something unsettling about his gaze—Theodore’s eyes were neither green nor blue, but rather some undiscovered shade that reminded you of watercolours bleeding into each other.
The manner in which he ogled you was shameless. He drank in your tight corset, the fishnet tights, and the thigh high boots like you were a painting on the walls of a gallery, pinned up for his viewing pleasure. You held your head high, completely undeterred by his stare. Besides, two could play that game.
You schooled your features into indifference. “Who are you supposed to be? The Pumpkin King?”
Theodore flashed you a charming smile that you had no doubt made the rest of the student population swoon. “I’ll be your Jack if you agree to be my Sally, sweetheart.”
As slowly as possible, you dragged your gaze from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet. Theodore smirked as you surveyed him just as he had done to you a few moments ago. Staying true to his Slytherin roots, Theodore wore a black suit and matching freshly pressed trousers, but the silk shirt underneath was maroon—Gryffindor colours. Your house colours.
“Brave of you to wear rival colours.”
“I thought you’d be happy,” Theodore drawled. “Better to hide the blood when you rip my heart out, darling.”
“You think I care about making a mess?” you said with a smirk. “That’s half of the fun.”
Theodore flashed you a smile that spelled nothing but trouble. “Oh, I think you’re just my kind of witch.”
“Oi, Notty boy! If you’re done flirting, we’re heading to the mirror maze.”
Blaise was regarded with a wave of dismissal. “I’ll catch up with you guys later.”
Hermione lingered by the edge of the clearing. She raised a brow in a silent question. You merely shrugged. Theodore Nott wasn’t anything you couldn’t handle.
“Give Longbottom my apologies, Mione. And a calming draught,” you added as an afterthought. “The poor bloke will need it.”
Your friend smiled. “Sure thing. Shall I tell the twins that you’re…indisposed?”
“No, let my wardens sweat it out a bit.”
Hermione chuckled and waved you off. The rest of the Slytherins followed shortly after, leaving you alone with Theodore. You locked eyes for a moment before you spun on your heel and walked off in the opposite direction. The brunette stared after you in stunned silence before you looked over your shoulder and smirked at him.
“Well, are you coming or not, Theodore?”
The sounds of the leaves crunching below his boots indicated that Theodore had snapped out of his stupor and was catching up to you. He did so rather quickly, thanks to those long legs of his. One of his strides was equal to three of yours. It took little to no effort on his part before the two of you were walking side by side.
“You know who I am, then?”
You shrugged. “It’s not hard to tell you and your cronies apart.”
Theodore grinned lazily and cocked his head at you. He squinted against the faint light, no doubt trying to ascertain a hint of your identity from underneath the gold mask.
“It hardly seems fair. You know who I am, but I have no idea who you are.”
You smirked at him. “I’m Sally, remember?”
“Does that mean I’m your Jack?”
“For the night, at least.”
He seemed content with that answer. “Where are we headed now, little witch?”
“The Graveyard.”
Theodore appeared slightly baffled, but brooked no argument as you led him through a thicket of trees. You chuckled at the sight of him following you blindly. “A strange girl just told you she was leading you to a graveyard and you didn’t even bat an eyelash. I thought you Slytherins were all about self-preservation?”
“I have no intention of preserving myself tonight,” Theodore drawled. “Feel free to ruin me, Sally.”
“I suppose you think you’re rather charming, don’t you Jack?”
“I don’t think, darling. I know.”
You rolled your eyes and walked toward the lone tombstone in between the weeping willows. Theodore watched as you waved your wand and muttered an incantation. The ground rumbled beneath your feet, clearing the leaves until an ominous set of stairs appeared in front of the grave.
Theodore peered over your shoulder. “I suppose you won’t be telling me what’s down there, will you Sally?”
“Don’t worry, Jack. I’ll hold your hand in case you get scared.”
It was meant to be a joke, but Theodore took the jest to heart and slipped his hand into yours. You smirked as you intertwined your fingers. If he thought a little hand holding would bother you, then Theodore had no idea what he was in for tonight.
“Lead the way, love.”
You led him down the steps, plunging into darkness the lower you went. Theodore took the opportunity to press up behind you and kept a hand on your waist as the two of you descended. He was so close that the scent of his expensive cologne mixed with cigarette smoke assaulted your senses.
A red hazy light flashed up ahead. The pounding music and excited chatter of your fellow classmates grew louder as you and Theodore were transported into the speakeasy. The bar was stocked with alcohol, shots and cocktails floating mid-air with themed drinks like Merlin’s Mourge-a-rita, Witches’ Brew, and Cauldron Colada. You hailed Parvati down who was apparently serving as the bartender tonight along with her twin sister.
“We’ll take two El Diablos.”
Theodore raised a brow, but didn’t protest as Parvati presented the shots in front of you. Your fellow housemate also floated a salt shaker and a bowl of limes on the counter. You sprinkled salt on the back of your hand and grabbed a lime wedge in preparation. Theodore did the same, minus the lime.
“Bottoms up, Jack.”
“Cheers, Sally.”
After licking the salt off of your hand, you clinked your glass against Theodore’s and knocked the drink back. The El Diablo certainly lived up to its name. The drink was a combination of tequila mixed with pepperup potion and topped off with a hint of cayenne. Needless to say, it had a bit of a kick.
With a slight grimace, you bit down on the lime, which helped with the unpleasant aftertaste. Theodore caught your wrist and held your gaze as he directed your hand up to his mouth. He mimicked your move and sucked hard on the lime, his lips brushing your fingers as he licked the juice from where it had dribbled onto your palm.
A shiver snaked down your spine. You may be a shameless flirt, but Theodore was definitely matching your energy.
“I can’t believe the twins built a speakeasy down here,” Theodore said. He leaned in close so you could hear him over the music. “I’m almost impressed.”
“I’ll tell my wardens you said that.”
“You keep calling them that,” Theodore said, his lips grazing the shell of your ear. “You wouldn’t mean that one of the weasels is your ball and chain in a literal sense, right?”
“Are you jealous, Jack?”
He smirked. “I just want to know which twin I’m sending to the infirmary tonight.”
You chuckled. “I’m not dating Fred or George. I just owe them a favour. Speaking of which, I’ve got some men to scare. Be a good boy and wait for me here.”
Theodore shook his head. “Oh, I’m not letting you out of my sight. I’m yours for the night, remember?” He toyed with the laces on your corset and pulled you towards him, your breasts pressing against the hard muscles of his chest. “I have a proposition for you, little witch.”
You quirked a brow, which made Theodore chuckle darkly. “Not that kind of proposition, principessa.” He twirled the lace between his fingers. “I say we terrorise the student body together.”
“You want to help me do my job?”
Theodore shrugged. “Why not? We can be partners in crime.”
You cocked your head. It certainly would be more fun to have someone else partake in your chore. Curling your fingers around his maroon tie, you pulled Theodore down to your level. His gaze flickered to your mouth and you couldn’t help the thrill that buzzed in your veins as you watched him swallow thickly.
“You’ve got a deal, Jack.”
As it turns out, Theodore was an excellent partner in crime. The two of you concocted a rather effective formula to inflict fear upon your classmates. The Red Room soon became your hunting grounds. In the creepy blood soaked maze, Theodore chased groups through the enchanted room while you lurked in the shadows. As soon as they thought they were safe from skull face, the groups were then led right into your trap.
You could hardly count the amount of people you scared shitless tonight.
Eventually the two of you returned to the bar for more drinks. You ordered another round of shots, which Theodore accepted without question. By the time you were six shots deep, the tequila had annihilated any sense of personal space between you. Theodore leaned down to take a sip of your drink.
“Trying to get me drunk, love?”
“That depends,” you quipped back. “How many drinks do I need to plie you with until you agree to dance?”
“With you? I’d say yes while stone cold sober.”
You grinned. “Come on, then.”
Theodore allowed you to guide him away from the bar and into the throng of your fellow classmates. It was total debauchery out on the dance floor. The music pulsed seductively as bodies writhed to the hypnotic beat and the red light bathed the crowd in a sinister glow as the alcohol loosened both limbs and lips.
The warmth of the tequila made you feel flushed, but it was nothing compared to the heat of Theodore’s hands on your waist. With your back pressed against his chest, you swayed your hips to the beat of the music. You rocked side to side and grinded against him, which caused his grip to tighten. Theodore’s fingers dug into your sides as you wrapped an arm around his neck and arched your back against his chest.
His dark lashes fluttered as your lips brushed against the column of his throat. Theodore shuddered when you nipped at his skin. A low groan escaped his mouth as he tried to chase your lips, but you dropped low to the floor and left him in a daze.
Theodore caught your wrist and pressed you flush against him. “Hasn’t anyone ever told you that it’s not polite to tease?’
“Do I look like someone who gives a shit about being polite?” You wrapped your arms around his shoulders and toyed with the curls at the nape of his neck. “You should know that I have a terrible habit of playing with my food.”
Theodore smirked and fisted your hair between his fingers. “And you should know that I have no qualms about being toyed with. As long as you promise to devour me later, little witch.”
You brushed up against him and felt his hardness rub against you. “Cross my heart and hope to die. I’ll get my taste of you tonight.” He inhaled sharply as you tugged him down to you. His eyes fluttered, fully expecting a kiss. “But before that, would you be a dear and get me another drink? I’m absolutely parched.”
A pained expression dawned on his handsome features. Theodore was fully aware of the little cat and mouse game you were playing, but he seemed keen to play along. If only to please you.
“You’re killing me, bella,” Theodore said with a sigh. He leaned down and pressed a lingering kiss on your cheek, a promise of what was to come. “I’ll be right back. Stay here, yeah?”
“Don’t take too long,” you said with a wink. “I might get impatient.”
With that, Theodore hustled back to the bar. You chuckled at the sight. Your amusement only grew as Chloe approached. As soon as she was within reach, you tugged your friend onto the dancefloor. She happily obliged, the moves flowing naturally. The two of you were known to bring the whole house down at countless parties.
“I take it Riddle hasn’t found you yet?”
“No, but he’s close.” Chloe shouted over the music, motioning to the bar where her boyfriend was currently standing. Mattheo, Theo, and Draco were talking in hushed whispers, looking rather serious.
“Gettin’ colder, he and Draco are heading toward the exit.”
The poor Slytherin was chasing after some unsuspecting blonde girl who looked a lot like Chloe from behind. A mischievous grin curved against her lips as she watched Theodore weave his way back to you, toting a drink in each hand.
“Is that Theodore Nott you’re flirting with?”
“Maybe, maybe not,” you replied with a coy smile. “He doesn't know it’s me, though, so if he asks you, you have no idea who I am tonight.”
“My lips are sealed.”
With a wink, Chloe slipped away just as Theodore returned. He handed you a drink and watched as you sipped it slowly. Theodore downed his cocktail in less than a minute and tossed his cup into the nearest trash can.
“Impatient, aren’t we?”
“You promised a taste.”
You smirked, chugging the rest of your drink and wiping the corner of your mouth with your thumb. Theodore watched intently as you set the empty cup down. “Come and get it, then.”
The words had barely left your lips before Theodore kissed you. There wasn’t a hint of timidness in the way that his lips crashed against yours, a soft moan escaping his mouth as he tilted your chin up to gently bite down on your lower lip. You gasped when he nipped at you, leaving your mouth open for his tongue to slide into.
The taste of him was intoxicating as he massaged your tongue against his, licking the roof of your mouth before he kissed you sloppily, open-mouthed and positively obscene despite the crowd dancing around you. What started out as a kiss turned into a full blown make out session in the middle of the dance floor. Neither one of you felt a hint of shame as you shared another filthy kiss. With a groan, Theodore’s hands roamed along your back and squeezed when he reached your ass.
“Fuck, you have no idea what you’re doing to me right now.”
You smirked, already equipped with a salacious response when your gaze caught on the clock behind the bar. It was nearly midnight and the twins had instructed all the actors and actresses to gather in the main entrance for the grand finale. Fred and George would have a fit if they found out you had abandoned your post. The twats would probably demand another favour out of you. There was no way you were going to shackle yourself to the Weasleys a second time.
“Shit,” you hissed under your breath. “It’s almost midnight. I have to get back.”
“I thought you were my Sally,” Theodore drawled. He looked slightly dazed, his curly hair dishevelled and his lips swollen from your kisses. “Not Cinderella.”
“I’m being serious, Nott. If I’m not back before the clock strikes twelve, I’ll have to owe the twins another favour.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll get you back in time. Besides, if we’re playing into this whole Cinderella fantasy then let’s skip to the good part and see if it fits and by it I mean me inside of you.”
His words sent a shiver down your spine. Before you knew it, you were dragging Theodore out of the speakeasy. The two of you climbed the steps three at a time, nearly tumbling over one another as you raced up the stairs. The woods were dark and foreboding, but provided plenty of cover for your illicit activities.
You tugged Theodore along by his tie and he pressed you against an oak tree, the bark biting at your exposed skin. You were kissing again in no time and the sounds the two of you made were downright lewd. Theodore reached for your mask, but you swatted his hand away.
“The mask stays on.”
He smirked. “I didn’t think it was possible to get any harder, but you seem to be an overachiever.”
“I aim to please.”
Theodore smirked against your neck as he hiked you up and wrapped your legs around his waist. His hand wandered underneath your skirt and those deft fingers of his teased along your soaked core.
“You’re so fucking wet, little witch.” You groaned as he plunged his fingers between your folds. “Such a pretty cunt too. Will you clench this tightly around my cock when I fuck you?”
“There’s only one way to find out,” you whispered huskily.
A stream of curses fell from Theodore’s lips, but not in a language that you understood. Italian, perhaps. Whatever it was, it sounded sexy as hell. You unbuckled his belt and slipped your hand into his trousers, feeling his hard length twitch in response. A choked groan rumbled through his chest as you pumped him between your fingers.
You swallowed thickly. Theodore was long and hard, his cock almost too big to fit inside of you. But you always did like a challenge.
Those watercolour eyes that had been pinned on you all night turned positively dark. The strange blue and green shade that you had grown familiar with was now swallowed by darkness, leaving Theodore with a gaze that would’ve rivalled Medusa’s. You felt it searing into your skin as you sank down on his length, biting your lip as he stretched your walls.
“Merda,” Theodore cursed. “So fucking tight. C’mon pretty girl, that’s it. I know you can take all of me.”
You shuddered a breath as he pushed inside. Theodore watched with hungry eyes as you took him inch by inch. It seemed never ending. “Fuck, you’re so big.”
Tears pricked the back of your eyes. The stretch was an equal measure of pain and pleasure. You could feel every ridge and vein on his cock and your pussy hugged around him as he throbbed inside of you.
Theodore caressed your cheek. “It’s alright, little witch. I know you can take it. I’m yours, remember? Your partner-in-crime. So use me, dolcezza. You’re in charge tonight. Just set the pace and I’ll follow.”
The reassuring words encouraged you to slowly grind against him. Theodore hissed as you lifted your hips until only his tip was inside of you. His mouth was hot and needy against yours as you grinded down to take all of him again.
“Che cazzo,” Theodore murmured as he bottomed out.
The drag of his cock was delicious. He filled you to the hilt and pressed his hand on your stomach to feel his length buried deep inside of you. The tightness it caused made the both of you groan. You rolled your hips and set a steady pace, lowering onto his cock over and over again while you whimpered.
“Oh, fuck. It feels like you’re splitting me apart.”
Theodore groaned as he sucked and nipped at your neck. The heat of his tongue was everywhere, leaving marks on your skin in his wake. It would be a pain in the ass to cover, but you didn’t care as you continued to ride him.
“Salazar fucking save me, your pussy feels like heaven.”
Theodore chuckled darkly as you clenched around him. He untied the laces of your corset impatiently, freeing your breasts from the constraints. Theodore brushed his thumb over your hard nipples before taking one into his mouth. He watched with eager eyes as you moaned, sucking and swirling his tongue while you picked up the pace.
“You look so pretty when you fuck me,” Theodore hummed as he flicked his tongue against your stiffened peaks. “Ride me harder, little witch. That’s it. Yeah, roll your hips just like that. Good girl.”
“Gods, I didn’t expect you to have such a filthy mouth,” you said with a low laugh. “You’re always so quiet in class.”
“So we have a class together,” Theodore said as he thrusted upwards to match your pace. “I thought you sounded familiar.”
“Is that so?”
“It’s on the tip of my tongue, but I can't quite grasp it. I guess I’ll just have to pay extra attention to all the Gryffindor girls in my classes.”
“I’m a Gryffindor? How do you figure that?”
“Besides your entire personality? You seemed friendly with Granger and though you complain about the twins, I’d wager that you’re mates as well.”
“Smart and handsome,” you said with a smirk.  “You’re full of surprises aren’t you, Jack?”
Theodore smirked and thrusted sharply inside of you. “You have no idea, Sally.”
“I thought I was in charge tonight,” you said in a stern voice.
“You are, but I think you could use a little encouragement. You’re holding back.”
You circled your hips before lifting them and slamming back down. Theodore’s eyes rolled to the back of his head.
“Does it feel like I’m holding back?”
“I’m a patient man, but if you keep toying with me like this I might just have to fuck that attitude right out of you, little witch.”
You tilted your chin up and smirked. “So do it.”
All that bravado left your body as Theodore rutted into you. He drove his cock deep within you, stretching your walls until you were clawing at his back. Theodore grunted as you squelched and squeezed around his length. His pace was relentless and punishing, guiding your hips to bounce on his cock while you moaned in pleasure.
“Oh gods, right there.” You cried out, burying your face into his neck.
You inhaled his scent greedily and sank your teeth into his flesh. Theodore slowed his pace and chuckled darkly when you whined.
“What’s the matter, little witch? Can’t take a dose of your own medicine?”
“Don’t stop,” you whimpered. “Keep going. I’m so close.”
“Beg me, darling. Tell me how desperate you are. I want to hear those pretty little words.”
Theodore halted his movements, his tip barely inside of you as he teased along your folds. He held your hips in place so you couldn’t sink down to take more of him. Usually, you were used to taking charge, but the way he put you in your place had you creaming all over him. Needless to say, you weren’t above begging at this point.
“Please, I need you. Fuck me harder. Give me everything. I can take it. Every fucking inch.”
“Merda, you’re fucking filthy. Begging for my cock like a good little slut. Brace yourself, bella. Remember that you asked for this.”
A whimper fell from your lips as Theodore bucked into your cunt. His cock impaled you, splitting you apart and knocking the very breath from your lungs as he fucked you roughly against the tree. He squeezed your ass, keeping a firm grip to secure you in place as he jackknifed into you.
“Oh gods,” you sobbed, raking your nails underneath his shirt and dragging red lines all along his back. Theodore hissed as you clawed at him, thrusting so hard that your teeth rattled every time he drove into you. “Fuck, it’s too much.”
Theodore grabbed your chin harshly. “No, it’s not. You begged to be fucked, now take my cock like the perfect little whore I know that you are, yeah?”
You nodded. Words escaped you at the moment. The filth coming out of Theodore’s mouth aroused you in more ways than one. Who knew that the silent Slytherin fucked like a god?
A stray tear rolled down your cheek. Theodore licked it away and chuckled as you whimpered. “Are you crying, sweetheart? Such pretty little sobs. Don’t worry, you’ll get your reward. You’ve been such a good girl for me and good girls get to cum.”
At that, Theodore rubbed your clit and pushed you over the edge. His fingers were magic against your sensitive bundle of nerves and it wasn’t long before you were clenching around him, making his hips stutter as the orgasm blindsided you. A scream echoed through the woods and it was only when Theodore covered your mouth when you realised that the sound had come from you.
“Fuck,” Theodore cursed, dropping his forehead to yours. “Merda, I’m not gonna last much longer. Not when that pretty pussy of yours is milking me dry. Oh gods, I’m gonna cum—“
You wrapped your legs tighter around his waist as his body seized underneath you. Theodore bit into your flesh as he came, leaving a bruised purple mark on your collarbone. You had never seen anyone look as beautiful as he did when he lost control, lips parted, cheeks flushed, devil eyes rolling back as the orgasm thoroughly rocked him.
The stillness that settled over the Forbidden Forest was almost eerie. The two of you looked at one another, dazed and confused as though you weren’t even sure who or where you were at the moment. Through all your romps, no one has ever put your body to the test like Theodore has. You could tell by his intense gaze that he likely felt the same.
Theodore set you down gently. Compared to how rough he was a few moments ago, the contrast almost made you laugh. You heard the chime of the clock echo a beat later.
Fuck. That only gave you a minute to sprint through the woods and make it back in time before the twins reached your clearing. You frantically re-tied your corset and straightened the skirts of your dress. Theodore was busy buckling his belt.
“I have to go,” you said as you shrugged your robe back on. “I’ll see you around, Jack.”
“Wait, you never told me your name!”
But Theodore was too late. You were already gone by the time he looked up. He sighed and started making his way back to the festivities. The last chime of the clock indicated that it was midnight. He could only hope that you’d gotten back in time.
Theodore paused as something crunched underneath his feet. He peered down at the forest floor and found something golden peeking out amongst the leaves. With a smile, he picked up the golden mask.
It looks like his mystery girl left him a clue after all.
Theodore would find his Sally.
He’d make sure of it.
Tumblr media
Theodore couldn’t remember the last time he was this excited to attend class.
After the All Hallow’s Eve party, he’d done everything he could to dig up information on his mystery girl. Theodore had even gone as far as to interrogate the Weasley twins, but as usual, the redheaded menaces were unnecessarily difficult about it.
“Sorry, mate, but we don’t reveal the identity of our actors and actresses,” George said with a shit-eating grin.
Fred nodded in agreement. “Confidentiality and all that. We wouldn’t want to go around spilling trade secrets. It’s bad for business.”
The weasels stayed mum even after Theodore offered them a ridiculous amount of money to reveal his mystery girl’s identity. Unfortunately, his desperation only served to intrigue the twins and the sadistic little gits seemed to derive pleasure in seeing Theodore grow more and more frustrated.
“Best of luck to you, Nott,” Fred said with a little smile. “If you do end up finding her, you’ll need all the fortune you can get. She’s a feisty thing, that one.”
“I know,” Theodore said with a glare. “That’s exactly why I want to find her.”
George chuckled. “Godric bless your heart.”
If the twats weren’t his main weed suppliers, Theodore would’ve punched their teeth in. Despite Fred and George’s general uselessness, he was in a good mood when Monday rolled around. Equipped with the knowledge that his mystery girl was in one of his classes, he made sure to pay extra attention to every Gryffindor girl. It was only a matter of time before he found her.
“You’re smiling,” Enzo commented as he caught up to Theodore in the courtyard. “What’s happened? Did my cousin fall down the moving stairs again?”
Theodore snorted. “Even better, Berkshire. I’m going to find my mystery girl today and you’re going to help me.”
“How?”
“You’re friends with literally everyone. Someone has to know who she is.”
“Hmm, come to think of it Mattheo’s girlfriend is good friends with a lot of the Gryffindor girls. I bet she’d know who it is.”
“Good, let’s start there. Where is Chloe anyways?”
“Probably in the Great Hall with Mattheo.”
The two of them headed over to where the rest of the castle was currently having breakfast. Enzo made a beeline for their usual table where Mattheo, Blaise, and Draco were seated, but Thedore didn’t follow. He stopped in his tracks when he spotted Chloe seated with a girl who looked vaguely familiar to him. Theodore was sure that you had Charms together. More than that, you were wearing a red and gold tie. A Gryffindor.
Theodore inched closer, skirting around the edges to listen in on the conversation.
“How was your weekend?”
Theodore froze. He knew that voice. It was husky and seductive and sounded exactly like how his mystery girl had when she’d whispered in his ear.
It was you.
It had to be.
“It was good,” Chloe responded with a grin. “Really good.”
“Mattheo found you after all, then?”
“He did and suffice to say he liked the second part of my costume more than the first.”
You laughed in response. Chloe leaned in and lowered her voice. “What about you? You disappeared from the speakeasy, so I’m assuming I’m not the only one who had an eventful night.”
“It was fine.”
“Just fine?”
You flushed, biting your bottom lip. “It was the best lay of my life.”
Theodore smirked. So it wasn’t just him, then. The sex had truly been something else entirely. He had been confident that you must’ve felt the same way in the moment, but doubt crept in since you’d run off so abruptly. Now he had confirmation and it was satisfying as hell to hear you say it.
“There you are, Enzo said from behind him. “I brought Mattheo, so we can ask Chloe about your mystery girl.”
“That little witch of yours really put a spell on you, huh, Nott?” Mattheo teased. “Let’s go, then. Maybe my girl can help.”
Chloe looked up and smiled as Mattheo leaned down to kiss her. You glanced up at the exact moment that Theodore came into view. He clocked the way your cheeks flushed as your gaze landed on him.
“You know my boyfriend,” Chloe said. You nodded at Mattheo who shot you a polite smile back. “That’s Enzo and Theo. Boys, meet Y/N. Y/N, meet the boys.”
Theodore took your hand and brushed his lips against your knuckles. “Hello, Sally.”
You smiled back in return. “Hello, Jack.”
Chloe’s eyes widened, immediately taking stock of the situation. Mattheo and Enzo were slower to catch on, but luckily she ushered the boys away.
“We’ll give you two some privacy.”
You tried not to laugh as Chloe winked behind Theodore’s back.
“I found you.”
“So it seems.”
“I guess you won’t be needing this anymore,” he said as he pulled out the golden mask from his backpack. Theodore’s intense gaze swept over you, cataloguing your features.
“You kept it,” you said with a small smile.
“I would’ve returned it sooner if you hadn’t left in such a haste after we—“
“Fucked in the woods?”
You were amused to find Theodore blushing. “I was going to say hooked up, but I suppose that’s another way to put it. Anyways, you left in such a hurry. You didn’t even give me your name.”
“Didn’t really think you wanted me to stay.”
“Are you kidding? I haven’t been about to think about anything else since that night. You’ve taken over my thoughts. It’s fucking maddening.” Theodore caressed your cheek and tilted your chin so he could look at you better. “My mystery girl. You’re more beautiful than anything I could’ve ever imagined.”
“Well, you have the real thing now. It’s your move, Jack.”
Theodore shook his head. “No, not Jack. Theo. That’s the name you’ll be screaming from now on. After I take you out on a proper date.”
You raised a brow. “What makes you think I’ll say yes?”
The devilish grin on his face sent shivers down your spine. “You’re really going to turn down the best lay of your life?” Your eyes widened, which made him smile even wider. “That’s right, sweetheart. You’re not the only one who can sneak up on people. So, what do you say?”
“Pick me up at eight. Don’t be late, Theo.”
Theodore winked. “It’s a date, Y/N.”

Hi! I love your writings! I’m obsessed with jealous fred weasley so if you could write a one shot with whatever you’d like :)))
(If you hate just ignore pls lol)
Hi love! Thank you so much, this has been a lot of fun to write. I’ve been sat watching Goblet of Fire, took one look at Fred in this scene and knew it just had to be long hair Freddie because it makes me feral. Hope you enjoy! 🖤
Warnings: bit of swearing, mild sexual references. Fred gets jealous and a little possessive. Talks of marriage. Sorry McLaggen I needed a villain.
Word count: 1k
Tumblr media
A cold heart and a warm jumper
Tumblr media
Jealousy wasn't something Fred Weasley ever felt.
He knew his family weren't rich, that they'd never have the best of anything or anything new in abundance and so from a young age, he'd made peace with it and learned not to envy others. Being one of seven kids and most importantly a twin in a family that was already stretched both financially and emotionally, he'd had to learn to share, virtually from the day he was born. He'd shared clothes, toys, his room, practically his entire life with George, even a uterus and placenta, though he didn't care to think about that.
But now, watching Cormac McLaggen leering over the one thing in his life that he absolutely refused to share, he felt the unfamiliar rise of the green eyed monster throughout his entire body.
Godric he hated that slimy little prick. With his stupid blonde curls and the smug little smile that Fred really wanted to slap off his face right now, regardless of his rich daddy and any consequences that would inevitably follow.
The common room was a blaze with celebration, Harry’s victory in joint first place of the first task had been wildly celebrated by each and every Gryffindor and even Ron had joined in after being such a miserable git for a month. But even with the chaos and jubilant celebration around him, as well as a decent profit they’d made on taking the bets during the task, Fred was not in the mood for a party.
Despite it being the end of November, Fred’s striped jumper and beige overcoat suddenly felt like they were suffocating him as he stared at the corner where McLaggen leaned suggestively ogling his girlfriend, reaching out to touch her arm and shifting ever closer to where she stood. He was getting hotter by the second, burning up with anger and jealousy as he looked in disgust at the slimy sod. Who did he think he was to be stood so close to Fred’s girl? They’d been together years, it was hardly like nobody knew that she was his.
But then he heard your girlish giggle and his blood seemed to run cold. You were openly laughing with him, playing with a strand of your hair and making no move to shut down his advances.
He’d had enough and was just ready to march over and make Cormac choke down a puking pastille when he watched you take off your coat, throwing it over the chair behind you and taking a step back to avoid Cormac’s over familiar hands as they reached out for you again. Fred’s heart pounded as he looked at what you were wearing so proudly, his quidditch jumper with his surname displayed right across the back. He remembered now how you’d complained of being cold just before you left to view the task and he’d nipped up to his dorm to retrieve a warm jumper for you. He knew it wasn’t the nicest sweater, there was a hole in the left armpit that had been stitched back together with a completely different coloured thread and a great big pull in the fabric on the right sleeve but you’d worn it with pride. Your face had lit up when he held it out to you and you’d tried to sneakily smell it with a cute smile before you threw it over your head, tying up your hair so you could show off his surname now displayed across your back.
Watching you now, he realised how wrong he’d been. You were inching away from McLaggen, body turned away and looking for any sign of escape, the fingers in your hair a simple mechanism to block him from reaching out to you.
Fred was on his feet in seconds, almost trampling a load of first years who were sat in the pathway as he stalked over to where you were standing, his eyes fixed upon the letters across your back.
“Weasley,” he whispers in your ear as a greeting, immediately stepping behind you and placing his hand on the curve of your bum. You jump slightly at the sudden intrusion but recover quickly as you realise it’s him behind you. Fred watched as a smirk blossomed across your face as you realised, pressing your hips back just slightly as a form of acknowledgment, backing up into his hand which he squeezed, getting a good grip of your bum.
“This looks very good on you,” he whispers again into your ear, bending down just enough so that only you could hear how deep and breathy his voice had become. He reaches out with his left hand to glide it over your hip to your waist, tugging on the fabric of the jumper just enough that you’d understand exactly what he meant.
“The jumper or the name?” You smirk, earning another squeeze of your bum for your cheekiness, both of you openly ignoring McLaggen who is still trying to talk to you.
“Both,” Fred smirks, the tip of his nose catching on your hair, his lips moving dangerously closely to the smooth skin of your neck.
“If you don’t mind McLaggen, me and the Mrs have business to attend to,” Fred says suddenly, not even looking at Cormac who briefly considers if he does mind or not, mouth opening as if he is about to protest.
Fred doesn’t even give him a chance and simply throws his right arm around your shoulders and pulls you away with a shit eating grin on his face. His hand slips back towards your bum as you’re walking away, his hand slipping into your jeans pocket as he pulls you close to him, asserting his place. He can’t help but smirk as he directs you towards the stairs to the dorms, knowing that Cormac is still watching the pair of you and he takes a sick pleasure in knowing the last thing McLaggen will see of you tonight is Fred’s hand in your jeans as he takes you to his dorm; with his surname plastered in large letters across your back. The same surname that will be yours in just a couple of years, if Fred gets his way.
Maybe he should invite Cormac to the wedding.

The chilly autumn air wrapped around you and Sirius as you strolled around the Hogwarts grounds, the leaves crunching underfoot as you both laughed and chatted about absolutely nothing and everything at once. He was holding your hand, swinging it back and forth in that casual way of his that always made your heart skip a beat. It felt like you two were in your own world—that is, until a familiar face came into view, heading straight toward you.
"Hey, Y/N!" Jackson Smith, a Hufflepuff in your year, waved enthusiastically, practically bounding over to you both.
Sirius instantly stiffened. He didn’t have a problem with Hufflepuffs, per se, but Jackson had a reputation for being… (annoying) persistent.
“Oh, hi, Jackson,” you said, your voice polite, but you felt Sirius’s grip tighten just slightly around your hand.
Jackson barely noticed. He sidled up next to you, casting a brief, dismissive glance at Sirius before focusing his attention solely on you. “Listen, I know this is super last minute, but I was wondering if you could maybe… help me with Potions sometime? Snape’s been giving me such a hard time, says I’m practically a disaster at it.”
You shifted uncomfortably, your grip tightening around Sirius’s hand as you forced a polite smile. “Um, I’m not sure I’d be the best—”
“Oh, nonsense!” Jackson interrupted. “You’re top of the class, aren’t you? And I think we’d make a great team. Snape just… doesn’t get me, you know?”
Sirius let out a barely concealed snort. “Well, that’s not exactly a Snape problem, is it, Justin?”
Jackson blinked, clearly irritated. “It’s Jackson. And I was just asking Y/N for a bit of help.”
“Of course, you were, Jerry,” Sirius replied, his voice dripping with false sympathy. “I’m sure you really need help with Potions and aren’t just here to pester my girlfriend.”
Jackson flushed, looking more annoyed now. “It’s Jackson,” he repeated, his gaze narrowing as he glanced between the two of you. “Anyway, Y/N, you think you could make time?”
Before you could answer, Sirius cut in again. “Actually, Janus, we’re kind of on a date,” he said, feigning innocence as he smiled down at you. “So maybe your little Potions crisis can wait?”
You stifled a laugh, trying to keep it together as Jackson’s face turned a shade redder.
Jackson forced a stiff smile. “Right. Sorry to interrupt.” He turned on his heel and practically stormed off, muttering under his breath.
The second he was out of earshot, Sirius let out an exaggerated huff. “The nerve of some dickheads. Honestly, who does he think he is?”
You chuckle, leaning over to press a soft kiss to his cheek, and his feigned annoyance melts into a wide grin. “You know you were kind of a dickhead too, right?”
He shrugs, turning to face you with a smirk. “Only for you. Can’t have any ‘Jaysons’ thinking they’ve got a chance with my girl.”
You chuckled. “You are hilarious,” you said, a warmth blooming in your chest.
Sirius’s expression softened instantly, his annoyed scowl melting away. He glanced at you, his lips twitching into a smile. “Oh? And here I thought you’d be annoyed with me.”
“Annoyed?” you laughed, reaching up to ruffle his hair playfully. “I thought it was adorable. Jackson didn’t stand a chance.”
Sirius’s cheeks pinked slightly, and he tried to brush it off, but you could see the softness in his eyes as he looked down at you. “Well… he was being a right git, wasn’t he?”
“Absolutely,” you agreed, grinning as you pulled him close and leaned up to kiss him properly this time. He melted into it, his arms slipping around your waist as he held you tightly.
When you finally broke apart, he sighed, looking at you with that adoring glint in his eyes. “I’d deal with ten more annoying Jacksons just to see you smile like that.”
You couldn’t help but laugh, snuggling closer as you whispered, “You don’t have to. I’m right here.”
Sirius smiled, pressing another soft kiss to your temple. “And that’s all I need.”
When he pulls back, he’s smiling in that rare, soft way that’s just for you. “You’re stuck with me, you know.”
“Good,” you whisper back, your heart swelling with warmth. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
He pulls you close, his arms wrapping around you as he rests his head on your shoulder. And, wrapped up in his arms, you can’t help but think that you’re exactly where you belong.

Tumblr media
Professor Slughorn clapped his hands together. 'Attention to detail is the prerequisite of all planning!' He beamed—just as the door opened to reveal the Chosen One himself.
Draco hated his guts. You tried not to, but there was always trouble where Harry went…
“Ah! Harry, my boy, I was beginning to worry. Get what you want from the cupboard.” Slughorn instructed Harry and barely acknowledged Ron.
Harry’s eyes cut over to you. You looked away immediately. You were a Slytherin. Practically Draco’s best friend, and a bit more. You’d stolen one to many kisses from Draco and had many nights where you ‘accidentally’ slept over at Malfoy’s dorm. As for the chosen one? Potter was very easy on the eyes but, you weren’t going to risk being shunned from your house.
“Any ideas what these might be?” Slughorn asked, referring to the potions he concocted earlier today.
Hermione, ever the know-it-all, answered swiftly. The love potion. “It’s rumoured to smell differently according to each person, according to what attracts them.”
“Exactly. Now Amortentia doesn’t create actual love. That would be impossible. Who wants to try to give us an example of what they smell?”
Your eyes immediately went to the floor, praying to Merlin that Slughorn doesn’t pick you. But he did. Great.
You cleared your throat and stepped up to the cauldron. “I smell old parchment paper and ink.”
“Go on, Y/L/N.” Slughorn says.
“Um I also smell freshly cut grass, almost like how the quidditch field smells. The fresh rain smells after a storm and hints of a fireplace freshly stocked with wood.”
“Good.” Slughorn says.
Draco frowns, but Harry smirks.
“I think she smells you mate.” Ron says nudging Harry.
“No, I don't!” You quickly snapped, almost biting his head off.
All the students take their turn, including Hermione who smells fresh mint toothpaste and Luna who smells warm wool and candy. Then, It’s Harry’s turn.
“Don’t be shy my boy!” Slughorn insists. Of course. That could only end badly.
“I smell-”
He pauses.
Sniffs.
A faint pink flushes across his cheeks.
“Um cherries, warmth, and,”
He hesitates, but eager to get on Slughorn’s good side, he finishes by mumbling:
“That vanilla scented stuff she wears.” His eyes cut to you only for a second before looking down in shame.
Why did he have to smell you?
The slytherin boys teased Harry and made multiple ‘woo’ noises. Bloody hell.
“Looks like someone’s got a crush on Y/N.” Lorenzo couldn’t resist teasing.
Blaise silently shot you a knowing smirk.
“As if Y/N would ever go for Potter.” Draco sneers.
──────⊹⊱✫⊰⊹──────
You and Draco gather the last of your things from the Slytherin table.
“Merlin you take forever.” Draco complained, eager to catch up with Blaise and the rest of the Slytherins. That’s when you hear footsteps approaching. You looked up and saw the golden boy himself, Harry Potter.
“I’ll catch up.” You say, looking at Draco, smiling and resting a hand on his arm.
“Alright.” Draco said walking away but not before giving Potter a scathing look. “I don’t trust that git.” He muttered as he walked away.
Harry scratched his neck, you could tell he was nervous for whatever he was about to say. “You always wear that vanilla scent, don't you?” He lightly chuckled.
“Yeah.” You stopped packing your stuff and put a hand on the desk. “What’s it to you?”
“Nothing,” He said, not meaning to offend you. ”Guess I just noticed today in Potions.” He smiled then walked away leaving you flustered. No teasing. Just that awkward boyish honesty that had no business being that charming.
It wasn’t the first time you noticed him, obviously. But it was the first time you blushed at his comment and the first time your stomach twisted.
You froze in place for a moment, temporarily stunned.
“You coming, princess?” Draco said, groaning.
“Yeah, my bad. I thought you already left!” You said, quickly grabbing the rest of your stuff and meeting Draco at the door.
“What’d Potter want?”
“Nothing.” You said, but in reality the scent of parchment paper and a warm fire were still lingering. And all you could think about for the rest of the week was bloody Harry James Potter.
So when Potions arrived again, you prayed to Merlin you would have a normal time as you walked with Draco, Theo, Mattheo, Enzo, Blaise, and Pansy.
“Do you think Slughorn ever forgets which potion he's drinking and ends up sipping Amortentia?” Theo asked, jokingly.
“That would explain why he keeps smiling at his own reflection.” Enzo adds, which gets an eye roll from Blaise.
──────⊹⊱✫⊰⊹──────
“What you see before you, ladies and gentlemen…is a curious little potion known as Felix Felicis. It is more commonly referred to as -” Slughorn stars before getting interrupted.
“Liquid Luck.” Y/N responds, sitting with all the Slytherins now at their table. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t cut your eyes over to the Gryffindor table to see Harry a couple of times. Sometimes, you’d catch him staring at you.
“So, this is what I offer each of you today. One tiny vial of Liquid Luck to the student who in the hour that remains, manages to brew an acceptable Draught of Living Death. Let the brewing commence.” Slughorn announces and immediately you—and all the other students in the class— start to brew.
“Hey, Y/N.” Mattheo says, already has a smirk on his face that reads nothing but trouble
“Yes?” You say, sighing as you were focused on making the potion, but now facing Mattheo.
“Hope you like blokes with glasses. 'Cause apparently one’s obsessed with you now.” Mattheo teased, loud enough for the whole class to hear.
Mattheo Riddle’s book went flying with a hex before he could finish his sentence.
“Miss Y/L/N!” Slughorn says surprised. “I expected better from you. You’ll be serving detention scrubbing the old Potions classroom after hours.” He said.
“Ugh.” You said, putting your head down on your desk. “Thanks, Mattheo.” you mumbled to where you could only hear.
The class ends with Slughorn announcing Harry had won the Felix Felicis and you all clapped for him.
“Oh Potter.” Slughorn said, grabbing the boy’s attention.
“Yes sir?”
“You’re top of the class and one of my best students—would you mind overseeing Miss Y/L/N’s detention? She’s a bright girl, just needs a steady influence.” Slughorn winked.
“Sure, sir.” Harry smiled, even though he sighed inside.
“Was Slughorn congratulating you even more mate?” Ron asked as he walked down the hall with Hermione and Harry by his side.
“No, actually. He asked if I could watch over Y/N’s detention. He’s lost it. Who in their free time would want to monitor detention?”
“Harry.” Hermione started, in her intellectual tone. “It’s clear Y/N and you had smelled each other's scents last week. He’s obviously setting you up.”
“Did you say yes?” Ron asked.
“Yeah. But I’m just doing this to appease him, Dumbledore wants me to get close to him.” Harry explained, although a small fraction of him was looking forward to spending time with you–without Malfoy.
──────⊹⊱✫⊰⊹──────
You were elbow-deep in soap suds and whatever magical gunk stained the walls of the old Potions classroom. You were too busy scrubbing to care how you looked at the moment. Then you heard the door creak. You turned to see it was the star student, Harry Potter. You turned back around.
“Slughorn sent you?” You inquired but you knew he did. Of course he did. You rolled your eyes as you continued scrubbing.
“Nice to see you too, Y/N.” Harry said, fighting a smile that threatened to creep onto his face.
Of course, he’d be smiling. He knew he was charming. You looked back to see that Harry was rolling up his sleeves, his hair a little messier than usual due to the day. He looked so effortlessly handsome.
“I thought this was my detention.” You said distracting yourself from the man that you were just admiring.
“Professor Slughorn sent me to supervise. Make sure you don’t hex anyone” He explained.
“Well you can tell Slughorn I won't hex anyone unless they deserve it–and Mattheo did.” You replied, which earned a laugh from Harry.
You felt a warm feeling inside. One that made you want to hear him laugh more. “You don't have to pity laugh.”
“What? No, no, that was funny. Mattheo can be a bloke sometimes.” He grinned, reflecting.
“Yeah,” you breathlessly laughed. You wringed out your towel as he squatted beside you, rolling up his sleeves even more, inspecting what you had been scrubbing for the past few minutes.
“I can handle it, golden boy.” You looked at him.
“I know you can.” He looked back at you. Something inside you lit up like a firework, those striking green eyes. You looked right back down.
He’s off limits. You knew this.
A few minutes passed before you needed more of the cleaning potion. You reached up toward one of the higher shelves where Slughorn kept old potions ingredients. You stretched on your tiptoes, fingers just grazing the edge of the jar as you felt the back of your shirt stretch up revealing your bare lower back.
“Need help?” Harry asked, you rolled your eyes in defiance. You knew you needed his help—and so did he.
Without another word he came over and grabbed it for you. His hand brushed the bare small of your back sending an electric spark up your spine. Nothing overt, you don’t think he meant to do it. But it made your breath hitch.
You cleared your throat. “Thanks.”
“Told you, I don’t bite Y/L/N, unless you want me to.” He smirked, his voice soft but his smirk spoke louder than the both of you combined.
“I figured I’d help anyways. I’m nice like that.” He said with a soft smile on his face. Why was he being so kind?
For a while there was only light conversation, jokes sprinkled in (mostly at Ron’s expense.), and the sounds of enchanted cleaning equipment to take up the sound in the room. It was quite nice.
And you smiled. And laughed. A lot.
He reached over your shoulder to grab a cleaning potion, and that’s when it hit you.
That smell.
Fire wood, the quidditch grass after a fresh cut, and a soft hint of an unknown warmth.
The exact combination from Amortentia.
You froze because you couldn’t deny it anymore. It was him.
“You alright, Y/L/N?” he asked, quietly. Like he actually cared.
You blinked. Then blurting out: “You changed your cologne.”
“Noticed, huh?” he said, smiling. “Hermione picked it—said it smells like me.”
“It does.” The words slipped out before you could catch them.
“Like the Amortentia you smelled in class the other day?” Harry teased, leaning closer to you. His voice changed to a lower, softer tone–he was certain at this point.
You didn’t respond. Your mouth had already betrayed you the last two times you spoke. Unfortunately, your silence spoke volumes.
“I knew it.” He smiled, smug. Blushing.
You looked at him then. Really looked. He was close enough to count the freckles on his nose. Close enough to see all the different shades of green in his eyes. Close enough to see that his lips were parted like he was holding his breath.
“Harry..” you whispered, almost so quiet to where you couldn’t hear it.
“You’ve got something-” he trails off as he wipes some soap off of your cheek. He keeps his hand there though. Your brain is telling you to look anywhere but in his eyes. Pull away. Slap his hand away. But you don’t.
And that’s when he kissed you. Softly. His lips felt like clouds you could lay on forever. It was warm and felt shy, like he was unsure if he should be kissing Draco’s best friend, a fellow Slytherin.
“Bloody hell.” you whispered on his lips.
You knew this was dangerous. You knew kissing Harry was the kind of thing that could unravel everything you’d worked to protect—your status in Slytherin, your friendship with Draco. But Merlin, you wanted him.
Eventually, your hands started to wander. And so did Harry’s.
“D’ya think Slughorn planned this?” Harry asked between kisses.
“If he did, I don’t think he planned it to go this far.” You replied breathlessly.
His hand was on your waist before you had a chance to even think about what you were doing. You gasped into his mouth, letting him guide you backward until the desk hit the back of your thighs. Your hands were tangled in his hair, pulling slightly, and he let out a low groan against your lips.
“We shouldn’t,” he murmured, even as he backed you up against the wood. But he didn’t stop. Neither did you. You helped him take his shirt off. You wanted to explore all the parts the cape was normally covering.
He hoisted you onto the desk with ease, parchment crackling beneath your thighs as you landed. The wood was cool through your slytherin skirt, a sharp contrast to the heat in your chest.
“Spread your legs.” He commands. His voice is deeper and eyes darker.
“You're distracting,” he said, breathless now, fingers trailing up the edge of your blouse. “How’s a bloke supposed to finish a potion like this?”
“You’re the one who kissed me.” You teased him, pressing your hand against his erection. Rubbing it.
“You kissed me back.” He growled.
A soft knock echoed from the far door. You both froze.
“Shit,” you whispered.
Harry cast a quick Silencing Charm toward the hallway, then leaned back in with a grin.
“You owe me ten points from Slytherin with that save.”
“She smirks. “Fine. But you’ll have to work harder if you want the House Cup.”
“Then maybe you should make it up to me some other way,” he said, fingers slipping just under the hem of your skirt.
The parchment crinkled louder now, mingling with the sound of their quickened breathing, the faint creak of old wood. Every noise felt dangerous. Every kiss felt like a dare.
The Silencing Charm fizzled suddenly, the glow snapping out with a quiet pop. They froze again—this time for real—just as Slughorn’s voice echoed faintly down the hall.
“Everything alright in there?”
Harry blinked, panic and adrenaline lighting his features.
“Brilliant,” you muttered, hopping off the desk and straightening your skirt.
He didn’t stop smiling as he helped you button the top of your blouse, eyes flicking down to your lips.
“We are so getting caught,” you whispered.
“Worth it,” he replied.
“Okay. Just finish up in there.” Slughorn says before you hear his footsteps retreat.
“Oh we will sir.” Harry said as you smacked his chest. It took no time for him to devour your face again like it was his air he needed to breathe. As he went to kiss your collarbone, he noticed a necklace.
He looped a few fingers around your silver necklace with Draco’s initials on it. He immediately ripped it off, throwing it across the classroom. You were more of a gold girl anyways.
The moment the necklace was gone, something in Harry changed. You weren’t Draco’s property anymore. His restraint—snapped.
“You’ve been wearing his initials this whole time?” His voice was low, rough, barely recognizable. “That git doesn’t deserve to breathe the same air as you.”
This time when he kissed you, it was harder. Like he was staking a claim on you. He wanted to make you forget any guy you had ever been with. And you let him.
You moaned into his mouth as he gripped your thighs, spreading them apart with a firm hand as he stepped between them.
“The silencing charm is gone, so you have to be quiet, yeah?” He instructed. You nodded. Anything to have him please you right now.
His fingers dug into the soft flesh in your legs, forcibly pulling you closer to the edge of the desk until there was no space between you. You could feel him—all of him—pressed against your core through layers of fabric. It made your head spin and your heat ache.
“You’re so fucking warm,” he murmured, his thumb trailing around your lips and eventually going into your mouth—which you started sucking. “Been imagining this since the first time you smart-mouthed me in class.”
“Merlin, Potter you’re addicted to me.” You smirked, tugging at his belt.
“Maybe,” he slipped his hand to touch the space between your two legs. He leaned to whisper in your ear. “But I’m not the one soaking for your best friend's enemy.”
After, he pushed your underwear to the side like it was nothing. “You’re dripping for me.” He said, more to himself as an achievement than to you. “All of this for me.” He said, admiring the view.
“Merlin Harry.” you said, bucking your hips.
He pulled back his fingers after you finished, licking them while maintaining eye contact with you. “You taste so sweet. Like cherries and trouble.”
“C’mere,” you begged, grabbing his shirt and dragging him down for another kiss, all teeth and tongue. You could feel the hard line of his cock through his trousers, grinding against you with each movement. You needed him.
“Tell me what you want,” he demanded, voice hoarse, his forehead pressed to yours.
You grabbed what you wanted.
“Use your words, or I walk out of here right now, love.”
“I want you to fuck me right here on Slughorn’s desk,” you said, unashamed, fire blazing in your chest. “Like you don’t care if someone walks in.”
“I’ll be quick,” he muttered, pulling his pants and underwear down in a swift motion, voice thick with lust. “But next time, you’re riding me until you forget Malfoy’s name.”
“Yes sir.”
And then he was inside you.
You gasped, nails raking down his back as he filled you all at once. There was no easing into it, no time for gentle. He thrust deep and hard, making you moan out of pleasure.
His hand clamped over your mouth to stifle your moans as your head fell back in pleasure. “I said to be quiet.”
His pace was brutal, unforgiving, like he was punishing you for making him want you this much. You clenched around him, making him choke on a moan against your neck.
“Fuck—keep doing that and I’m not gonna last,” he hissed.
You bit down on his shoulder, trying not to scream. Your legs wrapped around his waist as he slammed into you, each thrust hitting your core perfectly, you swore you could start seeing stars. It’s like he’s done this before. Your bodies were in sync perfectly.
“Harry,” you moaned, which only sped his pacing up, “Gonna cum,” you whispered into his ear, desperate and wild. “Please—don’t stop—”
“I’ve got you,” he growled. “Cum for me, darling.” He said before moving stray hairs out of your face to look in your eyes.
You shattered around him, muffling your cry into his shoulder as you clenched hard, your whole body pulsing with the release. Harry followed right after, groaning low as he buried himself deep inside you, spilling with a final thrust that left you both trembling.
For a long moment, neither of you moved. Just the sound of you both catching your breaths, the creak of the desk, and the faint sizzle of a potion that had overheated across the room.
Then Harry slowly pulled back, resting his forehead on yours, still inside you.
“Well,” he panted, smirking. “I think Slughorn’s desk might need a second round of cleaning.”
You smirked right back, running a hand through your hair. “Only if you supervise again.”
Your legs were so jello you almost fell when you both started to put your clothes back on. Although he giggled at first, he was gentle, slowly putting your shirt and underwear back on, making sure you were okay. He stole a few kisses before you had to part ways. Nobody could find out. Especially Draco.
As you walked down the hallway, alone, you were smoothing out your skirt and running your fingers through your hair. Thats when you caught a glimpse of your new tie. Gold and Red.
“Bloody hell.” you muttered. You quickly snatched it off, that would be a bold fashion statement in the Slytheirn common room for sure. One you were not ready to risk tonight.
But you couldn't help the smug little smile curling on your lips, reflecting on tonight’s events. Your neck still tingled where Harry had kissed you. Branded you. Your thighs ached deliciously with every step. You smelled like his cologne and sex and sin.
“Ah, Y/L/N. How was detention?” Draco asked.
“Terrible.” You said fighting a smirk, to which you lost.
“Where’s your tie, Y/N?” Theo noticed.
“Oh I lost it.” That earned a smirk from Blaise. He never spoke yet he knew everything.
You walked to your dorm when Lorenzo followed you.
“Ah, Y/N. You smell like sex. A scent I know all too well. So what really happened at detention? And if you don’t tell me, I’m assuming it was Slughorn.”
Meanwhile, across the hall, Harry walked in with a huge internal grin on his face. While trying to maintain an external ‘innocent and casual’ look. His hair was messier, sticking up in all different directions, where you had tugged on it. His lips tingling and his shirt untucked. But most importantly? The tie around his neck was not red and gold.
“Oi! Mate! What took you so long! ‘Mione made me do all of my homework.” Ron inquired.
“You had detention with Y/N, didn’t you?” Hermione interrogated.
“Yeah. The one I had to oversee.”
Hermione raised a brow. “You’re wearing a Slytherin tie.”
Fuck.
Worth it.
He looked down and pretended like he was surprised. “Huh. Must’ve—uh—mixed them up by accident.”
Ron blinked. “How do you accidentally put on a tie that’s a completely different color?”
“I wasn’t paying attention,” Harry mumbled, running a hand through his hair. “It was dark.”
Hermione’s eyes narrowed. “You smell like cleaning supplies and… something else.”
“I know what your thinking ‘Mione.” He paused as he sat down in the chair, facing Ron and Hermione who occupied the sofa by the fireplace. “But nothing happened okay?”
“That’s not what your body says. You're practically glowing mate.” Ron said half embarrassed for Harry. Half proud of Harry.
“Your lips are swollen,” Hermione added as she continued to analyze him. “And you’ve got a love bite on your neck.”
Harry slapped a hand over it, heart racing. “Merlin’s beard, Hermione.”
“Harry snogged a Slytherin!” Ron said, putting all the pieces together. “You snogged Y/N Y/L/N.”
Harry stared in the fireplace, refusing to answer. Not out of embarrassment, but out of respect.
“I must say,” Hermione began.
“Must you?” Harry said, throwing his head back.
“Yes.” She paused, then continued. “Y/N is a good match for you-”
“If she wasn’t Malfoy’s best mate.” Ron added.
Which made Harry flashback to when he ripped off your necklace with Malfoy’s initials.
He giggled, remembering the memory, proud of himself.
──────⊹⊱✫⊰⊹──────
“I’m just saying, if Hermione and Ron don’t get together by the end of this year, I will give you ten galleons,” Pansy laughs beside you in the courtyard between classes.
You laugh, shaking her hand. “Deal.”
Draco saunters up like he owns the damn place—confidence and arrogance wrapped up in a perfectly pressed Slytherin uniform. His eyes scan you slowly.
“Y/LN.”
You tilt your head. “Yeah?” Your laughter fades, but you keep the smirk. You know how to match his energy.
“I was—” He pauses, eyes flicking down. “Wait. Where’s your necklace?”
You blink. “What?”
“The silver one. The one I gave you for your birthday.”
Your hand instinctively goes to your neck. Empty. “Oh. I must’ve misplaced it.”
Draco narrows his eyes, something unspoken tightening in his jaw. But he doesn’t press. You feel it though—whatever illusion you two had? It’s slipping.
And then, as if on cue, Harry walks up.
He doesn’t say anything at first, just clocks Draco standing far too close to you. His jaw tightens.
“Ah, Potter,” Draco smirks, catching the tension. “Careful. Keep staring at Y/N like that and people might start thinking you actually like her. Especially after that little Amortentia stunt in Potions.”
Harry’s expression darkens. He knows exactly what Draco’s doing—but so do you. And you don’t stop it.
“Yeah?” Harry says, voice low.
Draco steps closer, smug. They’re almost nose-to-nose now.
Harry looks between the two of you, jaw clenched like he’s debating something dangerous. Then he turns to Draco, voice low but lethal.
“Next time you get close to Y/N…” He pauses. “Let me know how my dick tastes, Malfoy.”
The courtyard goes silent.
Mattheo chokes on his pumpkin juice somewhere behind you. Enzo’s jaw? On the floor.
Draco stares, stunned. He’d expected a snide remark. Not that.
You? You can barely breathe. Heart racing. Legs weak. And somewhere deep down—way deeper than you want to admit—you’re completely, shamelessly turned on.
Harry doesn’t wait. He brushes past, fingers grazing your wrist in a possessive little touch that feels like a brand.
You stare after him, stunned. Then at Draco.
“I—”
You don’t finish. You run.
You find Harry in a shadowy corridor, one no one uses anymore. “Potter!” you snap.
He turns. There’s something flickering in his eyes—guilt? Regret? But it’s gone just as fast.
“What the hell was that?” you push him, palms on his chest.
He pins you to the wall, dark eyes wild. “No.”
“What?”
“You don’t get to look at him like that after last night.” His voice is rough, angry.
“I wasn’t—”
“You’re mine, Y/N.” He leans in, breath hot by your ear. “You know you’re mine.”
His hands plant on either side of your head, caging you in.
“That doesn’t give you the right to—”
His lips hover just inches from yours, daring you to keep going.
“He looked at you like he still had a chance. Asked about the necklace like you’re still his. And you just let him.”
“It’s not like that,” you whisper.
“Then make it clear.”
He looks at your mouth, then your eyes. Your lips crash into his like you’re starved. Need outweighs reason.
“Say it,” he murmurs.
“Say what?”
“Say it, Y/N.”
You hesitate—then surrender. “I’m yours.”
Harry grins against your mouth before kissing you again like he’s claiming what’s his.
──────⊹⊱✫⊰⊹──────
Later, you sneak into the Slytherin common room, Harry’s kiss still burning on your lips.
“So it’s true then,” Draco’s voice cuts through the quiet. He’s slouched in a chair, signature green apple in hand. He takes a bite.
You freeze. Of course he knows. Everyone does by now. You sigh.
You don’t say anything.
“Snogging in corridors. Switching ties like love letters.” He scoffs. “You think no one notices?”
“Why do you even care? Draco, we hooked up five times. It didn’t mean anything—you know that.” That was cruel, and you both knew it.
“Because you were mine first, Y/N.” Draco rarely referred to anyone by their first name, so you knew this was serious. He took a swig of his fire whisky. Always was his go-to.
“Tell me, Y/N.” He hesitated, did he want to know the answer to his next query? “Is he better than me?”
You stared off into space, it was at least thirty seconds before you responded. “Yes.”
You looked back at Draco, you could tell that stung. “That half-blood golden boy who doesn’t know what to do with a girl like you.” Draco sticks his tongue in his cheek. “He’ll only break your heart, princess. You’ll regret choosing him.”
You turn to go, but his voice follows you, quieter—almost vulnerable.
“I asked about the necklace because I thought maybe…” he trails off, then swallows hard. “Thought maybe you’d still wear something I gave you. Never mind. I guess you had other things wrapped around your neck anyway.”
That almost gets you.
Almost.
“Draco, stop.”
“Was it when we were…?” He doesn’t finish the sentence. Doesn’t have to.
“Don’t twist this.”
“Well, you’re not denying it.” He lets out a humorless laugh. “Enjoy being his dirty little secret. Let me know when the Gryffindor guilt eats him alive.”
You walk away, letting Draco have the last word. But this isn’t over. Not with Draco. Not with Harry. And definitely not with the girl staring back at you in the mirror.

An Amazing First Kiss - Hobie Brown X GN Reader
Tumblr media
Title: An Amazing First Kiss
Hobie Brown X GN Reader
Additional Characters: Reader's friend (Mentioned)
WC: 1,651
Warnings: Try at writing a Cockney accent, Reader's nervous, italics, Reader's nervous about first kiss, Hobie is the best boyfriend, hurt/comfort idk?, nicknames, teasing, banter, flirting, mini angst, very brief mentions of lying, and fluff
To cut right to the chase, you were dating the amazing, and super lovable, Hobie Brown. You met him when he was performing with his band at some pub with your friend, and you just couldn't look away from him. His charisma, how easily he seemed to draw people to him, his passion for music, and just the way he’d spot you in the crowd. It made you feel as if no one else existed in the world, except you and him.
His dark brown eyes - even though they were covered by his Spider-Punk mask - had found yours in the crowd. He, too, was unable to look away. The way you softly danced in spot, bouncing on the balls of your feet. Your friend's arm linked with yours, your friends jumping up and down with more enthusiasm, but you drew him in; entranced him. It wasn't long until the two of you started seeing each other, going out for dates and whatnot. And it wasn’t long until the both of you started dating, and he revealed his secret identity to you.
Everything was perfect, except that you were very nervous. You were worried that Hobie might want to kiss you soon. And it's not that you don't want to kiss him. You did… You really did. And you would, eventually. But, at the moment, you just weren't ready. But it seemed that Hobie was. Only last week, he tried ‘the lean in’. But you were quick to come up with some sort of excuse. But, it was coming to a point where you hated lying to him and not talking to him about it. You didn’t want him to think that he was doing something wrong or that you weren’t interested or attracted to him.
The first time he tried to lean in, you had been sitting on the couch together, in his loft, watching a movie. Well, you weren't really paying much attention to it, and neither was Hobie.
"'is movie's bit boring, innit?" He muttered, his arm resting over your shoulders, his fingers randomly drumming along your forearm to an irregular beat.
"Not the best movie I've seen, no," You agreed, glancing at him, "But it's entertaining to a degree."
Looking down at you, he continued, "'is guy a bit of a git 'ough." Hobie randomly gestured towards the screen where the main character was fighting with his brother.
“I agree…” Looking up at him, your words began to trail off when you noticed how close your faces were to one another. Looking into his beautiful brown eyes, you felt your stomach flip flop. However, you began to inwardly panic as he began to lean in. Red, flashing lights blared inside your mind as you froze and jumped out of his arms and off the couch. Letting out an awkward chuckle, you gestured down at your watch. "I have to go... Uh... Feed my cat." You stumbled over your words, making your way to the front door. Opening the door, you turned to give him a nervous grin, "I'll see you tomorrow, love you!"
“Love you…” As the door shut, Hobie let out a deep sigh, falling back upon the couch. Raising his legs up, he propped his feet on the coffee table. Why did you leave like that? And when did you get a cat?
~~~
A couple of weeks later, you were back in Hobie's loft, baking cookies. You hummed along to the song that Hobie was playing on his guitar in the other room, your thoughts drifting elsewhere as you worked. You didn't know how much time passed, or when Hobie stopped practicing, but as his arms wrapped around your waist, you couldn't help but smile.
"Wha’ are you makin' 'is time?" He asked, resting his chin on the top of your head as you pressed the heart-shaped cookie cutter into the dough.
"I think you know what I'm making, Hobie." You sputtered out a small laugh, "It's quite obvious."
He let out a small chuckle, before asking, "Well, 'ow many are you makin’ 'en?"
"About ten, I think? I won't know until I cut them all out." You patted his hand on your stomach briefly, “And you’re not eating them all like last time.”
Hobie hummed as he pulled away from you, his fingers brushing your waist as he did so, causing a shiver to run down your spine; heading to the stove, he grabbed the kettle, "You want some rosy?" He asked, setting the kettle on the burner, and turning it on.
Glancing over at him, he was already looking at you, leaning against the counter beside the stove, arms crossed. His gaze was warm, and his grin was - as always - breathtaking. You returned his smile, "Sure, thanks. That would be nice. Do we still have Earl Grey?" You asked before going back to the cookies as Hobie went to fetch the milk and sugar, humming softly to himself.
“‘Ave no scooby-doo.” He answered, before searching around in the cupboards, pushing other boxes of tea around until he spotted the Earl Grey, grabbing the tea box.
Reaching over your shoulder, his chest pressed into your side, Hobie grabbed the sugar from the counter near you. Looking up at him, you were surprised to see him still looking at you. There was that look again, the one that made your insides just turn into mush. But, as if in slow motion, he began to lean in. Quickly, you turned to look back down at the cookies, his lips pressing a kiss into your warm cheek; the coolness of his lip ring sending goosebumps over your skin.
Hobie pulled back, titling his head at you, his eyebrows narrowing as you slid the cookies into the oven; pursing his lips. Hobie was beginning to really wonder now. You seemed reluctant to kiss him, which made Hobie wonder if he had done something wrong. Did he do something? Say something? Did you just not want to kiss him? Hobie snapped out of his thoughts at the sound of the screeching kettle.
Now, Hobie wasn't one to keep quiet about things bothering him. After pouring both him and you a cup of tea, he joined you on his couch. Setting both the cups on the coffee table, Hobie turned himself in his seat to face you, his arm resting on the back of the couch.
"Let's cut to 'e chase, yeah? 'Ave I done some'nin wrong?" He asked you, a slightly concerned expression crossing his features.
Your shoulders slumped and a small, sad smile formed on your face as you looked down. "No. You haven't done anything wrong, H." You looked over at him, your sad smile turning into a frown upon meeting his eyes, "I... Uh, I don't think I'm ready to kiss yet." You knew Hobie wouldn’t break up with you because of this, but it was an irrational fear that your brain liked to tease you with.
Hobie, though, tilted his head, looking confused at this response. Noticing your frown, the unleashed tears in your eyes. Hobie moved closer to you, wrapping his arms around your shoulders and pulling you into his chest. You melted into his embrace, relaxing in his grasp as you let out a sigh of relief. He gave you a reassuring squeeze. "I 'ough' you just didn't want to kiss me, or some'nin' like 'at."
You shook your head at his words, nuzzling your face into his chest, "No, I... I just don't think I'm ready to kiss anyone right now... I think sometime in the future I will be ready, I don't want you to think that I just won't kiss you ever."
At this, Hobie chuckled, lightly squeezing your shoulder. "Ya silly, luv." He teased, "You should know 'at it's fine. We ain't rushin' into anythin'. You’re stuck with me. I’m not gonna jus’ up and leave ‘cause you ain’t ready to kiss me."
Nodding your head, you gently pulled yourself out of his embrace, looking up at him. "Thank you, Hobie."
"Anytime, luv." He said, moving to lie down on the couch, opening his arms to you. You gladly climbed on top of him, laying your head on his chest; cuddling with Hobie always felt like home. His heartbeat was a steady rhythm under your ear, a comforting sound that made the world outside seem distant and unimportant.
Leaning up on your arms, you looked down at him, "You're amazing, you know that, right?" Grinning, he reached up and ruffled your hair, causing you to scrunch up your nose. "Oi, don't mess up my beautiful locks," You laughed, jokingly swatting his hand away.
"An' I'm always amazin’. ‘Ough’ you knew ‘at ‘bout me already." He said with a wink, causing you to giggle.
Staring down at him, you silently admired him. His dark complexion, chocolate brown eyes, high cheekbones, the piercings on his eyebrow and lip. Suddenly, you had an idea. "Hobie, honey, I’ve got an idea." You stated, grinning.
The tall boy sat up with you, a slight tilt of his head and an intrigued look on his face, "What's 'at?" Shifting on his lap, you leaned forward and took his face into your hands, his cheeks soft under your gentle touch. Giving him a small smile, you leaned forward. You shut your eyes before the tip of your nose bumped into his. Softly, you shook your head, giggling, your nose rubbing against his in an nose kiss. As you opened your eyes again, you saw Hobie staring back at you, his eyes half-lidded. A smirk played across his features, "Wow, luv." He whispered.
"Pretty amazing first kiss, eh?" You joked, your hands dropping from his cheeks, and reaching for his hands; interlacing your fingers with his.
"Oh, very amazin’ indeed." He said, bringing your hands to his lips, and kissing each knuckle. “Maybe even more amazin’ ‘an me.”
