TLJ and LBH dynamic where it's like that Kung Fu Panda 3 meme with Po and his Panda Dad, so like, they meet and Tianlang Jun is like "I just recently got out from being crushed under a mountain and learned a few things, and now I'm on a quest to find my long-lost son who is a human/heavenly demon hybrid" and Luo Binghe is like "I'm a human/heavenly demon hybrid who recently discovered that my father might not be as evil or dead as I previously assumed, so I've been searching for him" and then they both just go "well good luck on your quest" "yeah I hope you find your son" "I hope you find your father, gosh you look kind of familiar but I can't place where from" "yeah I just have one of those faces" "oh that must be it then, anyway safe travels!" I just came up with a hc that makes the sequel trilogy 200x funnier.

What if Rey and Finn are both students at Luke's academy and the whole sequel trilogy is just Rey, age 8, making up a crazy wild fantastic adventure story to tell to her bestie Finn, age 9, while they're being watched by Poe, age 12, (who is visiting the Jedi academy because his mom is friends with Leia) and Ben, age 11?

Hear me out.

ST!Rey is a desert orphan because lil Rey WAS a desert orphan before Luke found her. The reason Rey learns to be a Jedi so quickly in the ST is because lil Rey is telling a cool story about herself!

Finn is a stormtrooper, because once he met Captain Rex and thought he was really cool and he wants to have white armor too, so Rey makes him a Stormtrooper who turns good and rescues Poe.

Poe jumps in on Rey's story at the beginning to wax poetic about himself being the best pilot in the galaxy, and Rey tries to one-up him by making her story-self fly the Milennium Falcon through a star destroyer.

Ben keeps hijaking her story to try to kill off everyone so he can leave, so he's obviously the villain. Rey keeps trying to make him have a redemption arc to no avail. At the very end he just gives up, says "okay FINE i turn GOOD and help you save the day BUT THEN I DIE", and he leaves.

Luke is a grumpy island hermit in the ST because lil Rey is annoyed with him because he wouldn't teach her to try to float an X-wing (something totally out of her skill level) and so she's like "and then i went to the ISLAND and met LUKE and he wouldn't teach me AAAAANYTHING!"

Poe makes up the scene where Han gets stabbed because when Ben was 2 he accidentally stabbed his dad with a fork and Poe thinks it's hilarious to keep bringing it up.

Rose is a friend of theirs who visits for just long enough to get Rey to throw a gratuitous space-horse subplot into the plot of TLJ cause Rose is a space-horse-girl, but then she has to leave so Rey writes her out of the plot of TRoS.

Anything else that doesn't make sense about the ST is just because it's a story told by an 8 year old girl who's here for a good time and doesn't really care if it's realistic, because it's fun and that's more important.

In an ideal galaxy, luke would have been yoda's padawan, and yoda would have been such a doting master, he gives luke all the sweets and all the love. He sneaks luke candies but also smacks him with his stick, he answers all of luke's questions but in a very cryptic manner.

Yoda really really adores luke but he shows it by being a little troll - he pulls little pranks, he sends luke on wild goose chases, he makes luke carry him around once he's big enough; luke groans and grumbles about it but he's a polite boy by nature, he does everything yoda says. And yoda brags about it to the council, about how his little padawan is nice and polite, how he doesn't get into trouble (this one is, if not entirely a lie, not entirely the truth either. Luke does get into trouble regularly but it's the sort of trouble yoda cackles at and approves of), how he's very smart and powerful in the force.

Luke chasing around master yoda with a jedi text, asking about what a particular paragraph means, and yoda pulling a tlj and smacking him in the back, telling him that he already knows what is needed.

When luke's grown and knighted (yoda is very insufferable abt it to other masters. He brags abt it endlessly), their dynamic is a silly crotchety old grandpa who cracks dad jokes, and resigned but fond apprentice. Luke still whines and complains but it's all in good jest, Yoda still sneaks him treats but luke also sneaks yoda some frogs. They'd be so silly together :]

TLJ is a guy obsessed with trash novels, so she could do something like start slipping him novels about pirate/swashbuckling drama, visiting exotic locals, finding lost treasure, and other such high seas drama, so he’ll go sail off into the sunset. 😂

Also, since the OG post was a Cinderella and other fairytale fusion, maybe SJ is also an ‘evil’ witch of some sort. Maybe her magic is weak, forbidden, and/or creepy unlike LBH’s own gifts, so she hated her all the more for her magical talents.

Witch SJ would have the abilities necessary to put LBH in other fairytale predicaments, where she conveniently meets all the various love interests.

SY meanwhile tries to replicate the situations, but worries too much about hurting Binghe so it never really works. Heck maybe the situations end up twisted around so LBH needs to rescue SY from her own fumbling, or help her cover up shenanigans.

(Like SY trying to make a sleep curse that breaks via hand touch, or forehead kiss or something, as kissing an unconscious girl is kinda creepy isn’t it? Only one of her test attempts goes awry and she ends up knocked out instead, or in trouble thanks to accidentally making a curse that ‘hops’ victims, or puts anyone who kisses Binghe’s hand to sleep, etc).

Omg TLJ would absolutely be the trashy novels obsessed weirdo wouldn’t he???! And like imagine Zhuzhi Lang has a good idea about what LBH is trying to do and he keeps trying to tip off TLJ but he’s just like so what if she wants bang my wife?!? Let her!!!??? This is more important 😭😭🙏🙏

I’ve been listening to the soundtrack of Descendants Rise of Red way to much lately.

Anyway, I have this SVSSS au idea that stars LBH, son of the Empress. His mother, angry at the sects for killing his father, took over the demon empire for herself. It’s an authoritarian nightmare.

LBH, growing up in this environment, does not like this. He doesn’t like what he mom is doing. So during the day he acts the part of a good little Prince, and at night, he sneaks out. He puts on a disguise and causes havoc. Anything to disrupt his mother’s plans.

And what are his mother’s plans? Revenge against the sects of course! She makes one big attack, and gets pretty close to succeeding. Luckily, LBH found the mcguffian of the week and managed to go back in time to stop her.

This of course isn’t without its own problems. LBH managed to accidentally bring along a QJP disciple, the son of the Peak Lord SQQ, Shen Yuan.

SY is at least a little upset at the destruction of his peak, and the almost death of his dad, and LBH’s part in it all. Enemies to friends to lovers as LBH and SY try and prevent TLJ’s death, while also being shocked at the younger versions of their parents lol

I imagine TLJ just skulking around the place for like funsies, while SY is giving a lesson to his disciples.

Cuz like we know the reason why TLJ hasn't tried to join the harem is cuz SXY be gaslighting him into thinking he's not into SY.

But like, let's say she's out on a hunt, and TLJ decides to lurk, just one day.

He overhears SY giving a lesson, whether that be a sword lessons or poetry whatever it is. Except the students are not behaving.

SY is very annoyed and rightfully so.

Therefore he whips out his most I am an elder and you will respect me voice to tell the student to sit down and stay quiet.

cue TLJ, hidden behind a wall, sitting on the ground, needing to rethink what he's into, or well who.

Also, like the sheer psychic damage LBH will got through realizing that his dad is into the same person that he is.

No one says that a person can only romantically love one person at a time! Tianlang Jun now realizes that he's into TWO people: Su Xiyan and her very hot MILF (Master I'd Like to Fuck to be exact). Clearly her master is good at teaching specific Hot attributes like That Voice that appeals to Tianlang Jun like so.

(And if Shen Yuan can teach THAT to Su Xiyan, then what attributes and personality traits did Shen Jiu pick up from Airplane!Wu Yanzi???)

All The Right Reasons by bethagain is such a sweetly heartwrenching look at Luke & Ben (Solo, not Skywalker), how quickly Luke bonds with his nephew…and how he hesitates at first to train Ben because (“I can’t see through…how much I love him”) 🥺 I just. I can’t. I am MELTING, this is so emotional (and it was written pre-TLJ! A nice bonus for me, as someone who hates how their relationship was handled in that movie)

The King’s Gambit by @elli-incarnate…oh it’s a masterclass. The epitome of Sith Luke fics, and absolutely beautiful to read. Every sentence is written with so much care, Luke/Mara is written wonderfully, and I just…I love it so much. So, so very much 💞 it’s Legends-leaning, but tbh it can be enjoyed without knowing Legends

Enter the Foreign by Viari is for absolutely anyone who loves time-travel fics…especially ones featuring Anakin! You don’t need to be terribly familiar with Legends, though it helps (I’m somewhat familiar, but not totally, and this was accessible to me). The spin-off AUs are such a delight too (and an inspiration for me to write my own 😅), and it’s just so much fun and so clearly a labor of love, and such a sprawling, intricate AU. I can’t recommend it enough.

I can see LBH being super charming to Alfred because this is Shizun's dad! He has to make a good impression! Alfred appreciates that there is now SOMEONE in the house willing to help with housework. Meanwhile, SQQ has to arrange for ID and a cover story for LBH. Tabloids hitting the scene going, "Bruce Wayne is GAY?!" after pictures of LBH holding hands with Bruce are taken. (LBH is angling for a second wedding).

Asdfghjkl yes!! He takes three seconds to see that Alfred is nothing like tlj and immediately sets out to Get Future Parent In Law's Approval, something he's never gotten to do before. He is going to get the best score possible.

On the other side, Alfred would probably take a little longer, given this huge demon emperor materialised out of nowhere, completely took over his son's time and attention to the point he's neglecting his WE duties, and attempted to take over his kitchen.

Of course Darling Protagonist Mode wears him down quickly, especially when Alfred realises that lbh is very skilled in getting Bruce to eat, rest, and even sleep regularly! It's a miracle! Lbh loses most of the remaining intimidation points when he's seen reciting washing machine instructions under his breath as he hauls armfuls of the kids' clothes down the corridor, an apron over his inner robes and a towel tying his hair out the way. They agree to share recipes - sqq has favourites from both dimensions now, so all the better to team up! Lbh is beyond delighted to discover that chocolate does exist here!

How did you knowwwww a second marriage was my end goal? Everyone involved is delighted - the kids get their dad permanently and publicly off the market (not like he ever realised he was on it, really), league members get to attend their friend's wedding and eat expensive snacks (superman's heart is aching but its fine :)), Alfred gets to see his son get married after all this time - and to such a good lad, and of course bingqiu themselves are pulling out all the bells and whistles for the Event Of The Century. As part of the deal with system, the peak Lords get to attend as well, and the clash of cultures is very entertaining (lqg, yqy and Clark discover a fellow in each other and get on swimmingly, much to the others surprise). Lbh made sure to put the joker out of commission for the event, earning the kids respect. Damien is ring bearer and by rao he is going to be The Best Possible One Ever (reminding sqq of when lbh was little) (he cries a bit).

I do technically have a handful of spins that I consider my main spins because I'm constantly rotating between them (star wars, doctor who, moon knight and spidey) at any given moment, but my strongest spin is definitely in Poe Dameron from the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy!

I kind of instantly fell in love with him when my dad first took me to see The Force Awakens when it came out, which was a huge surprise for me because Poe was maybe the character I was the least intrigued by at the time (Rey and Finn had me asking far more questions, anyway) and none of the descriptions for him really jumped out to me. But after actually seeing him, I was positively in love, and then quickly downloaded accompanying novels that featured him (Before the Awakening and the TFA novelization) to read more about him, and then in April of 2016, they came out with a comic series for him and that really helped further cement my special interest in him!

It took a huge hit in 2018-most of 2020 because of all the fandom negativity (especially around Poe) but at the end of 2020, I rewatched the sequels back to back for the first time and it flared back to life without me expecting it to and I did a huge deep dive into uuuuuuuuuuuuuh every piece of expanded material he'd appeared in 😅

Basically (I'm not super sure how familiar you are with Star Wars) Poe is one of the best pilots in the Resistance, which is lead by Princess (now General) Leia Organa, and he's her right-hand man/protégé/surrogate son. Barring the Resistance's bombing fleet (which is teeny bc the Resistance is teeny and held together by duct tape) Poe is essentially in charge of its only flight wing and (as far as we know) all* of its squadrons. On top of that, he's also an active intelligence operative, and even helps oversees the reports from the Resistance's spies so like...he's kind of already helping run the Resistance even prior to officially co-running it by the third film with Leia/when he's finally named its official leader.

Poe is super important to me for a lot of reasons, but one of my favorite things about his arc is that it's not centered around romantic love/tension unlike a lot of the other dynamics in the sequel trilogy (altho Oscar did play Poe as being extremely smitten for Finn and who can blame him, and we do meet an ex girlfriend of Poe's in the third movie, I stan a bisexual king). Poe's whole arc is about his duty to the Resistance, his struggles with keeping hope because he's afraid that everything they've (and him) endured and lost will have been for nothing if they lose the fight against the First Order. If there's a love story for Poe's arc, it's his love for the Resistance and his friends, and that's so wonderful and profound in my eyes.

But also the bridge of Poe's arc, from the daring hero we see in tfa and the start of tlj, to the cautious but courageous leader we see at the end of tlj and all of tros, is Poe being forced to accept that his role in this story isn't that of a martyred hero. He's quite literally grounded (his X-Wing is destroyed) and he's pushed into the role of the leader his mentor wants him to be, and TLJ (in my eyes) is the story of someone who full heartedly believed the most he had to offer was a noble self-sacrifice realizing he actually wants to live (and that he can do far more for the Resistance/galaxy by surviving.)

I love Poe a lot because he's also very simple. He's, as Rian Johnson described him, a good guy hero. Unlike other characters, you never doubt whether he's gonna be tempted or corrupted, you know that he's going to do the right thing and remain true to the Light side, you have faith that no matter what obstacle he faces, he's gonna overcome them and come out the other side that much better for it.

The Age of Resistance comic analysis of Poe breaks it down the best, I think:

Poe's inherent humanity is what makes him a great character. He's not someone who struggles with right and wrong or good and evil. Instead, his struggle is more with his tendency to need to be the person who pulls off some last-minute, thrilling heroics in service to the greater good. Because Leia's right: you can't solve everything by jumping in an X-Wing to blow things up.

I could talk for days about Poe (I've spent the last three years doing just that) about the nuances of his character and the depths that largely go unexplored because of Lucasfilm's inexplicable disrespect and dislike of him, the fandom often reducing him to a love interest with no other personality traits, or complete bastardization wherein he resembles Hangman Top Gun more than Poe Dameron (often when people want to oversexualize him).

He has so many qualities that I adore: he's snarky and hot-headed and can throw things (metaphorically) in people's faces when he's particularly upset, he's impulsive, but also kind and compassionate and patient with people. He sees the potential for more/good in folks that most wouldn't. he truly deeply values people, and that's what makes him such an amazing leader: he inspires loyalty because of how much he believes and takes risks in the people around him. He's often the first person to give someone a second chance, or to lower his blaster, but he can also be vindictive. He's confident in his abilities as a pilot to the point he's often mistaken as arrogant, but he never puts anyone down and always lifts people up, and has a lot more insecurities than anyone would guess, and is really sensitive to rejection.

He's also kind of canonically a prince, thanks to the TROS novelization, so you know. I think that's neat and I'm so totally normal about it (when Leia passes away, she leaves her Organa legacy to Poe...the Organa Legacy would be the Royal House Organa - as well as the Resistance. So...Poe is in some ways a prince).

General Opinion over said character: I FUCKING LOVE THESE GUYS!!!!! i love it when there is a guy with a big fucking sword who has sooo many problems. lol! anyway ok more specifically:

i thought nmj was very interesting while reading the novel and definitely had a "hey wtf dude" initial reaction to him, but he's reallyyy grown on me <3 partially bc he's been on my mind a lot and partially bc of his presence in cql! (cql nmj is my type also so that definitely did smth to me as well lol) i think he's a really interesting character to explore both bc of his general backstory and bc of his relationships w other characters, as well as the fact that (in the novel) we never really see him of completely sound mind, so there's lots of room to play w how you portray him. he's fun!

lqg i love soooo much i loved him from day ONE i loved him as soon as he showed up. he's so good. i think his appearance was a very funny surprise (?), esp the way sqq narrated it lmao, and i really like him in general. i loveee the loyal sword character trope and i like how lqg does it (so well <3). his general awkwardness and extreme talent to put his foot in his mouth is also really charming ("its ok you can just get a new disciple" what is wrong with him). i also think there's room to explore w him, especially his family + relationships w other sect members, i love you liu siblings... lqg is a character who goes through a lot of growth imo and it's very satisfying to see that + how his rs with sqq changes through the novel. lqg is also a character that is so fun to put into situations and also make fun of. bc he's so sucks <3 ANYWAY I FUCKING LOVE LQG if there is no lqg lovers on this earth i am dead etc

Coldflash (Barry Allen/Leonard Snart). Idk, it has all the ingredients of a ship that I really should be into, but I'm just... not. I think it's just that they're that really specific brand of "friendly rivals" that doesn't really excite me that much.

💚: What does everyone else get wrong about your favorite character?

It's apparently really hard to "get" Nora West-Allen's character if you didn't grow up in a single-parent household, never meeting your other parent. A lot of people say that she overreacted or that she was being irrational in her actions to try to save her dad from dying. Yeah, she did make some bad decisions, but she just wanted to know her dad. She just wanted to get to know him, because she had a frankly terrible life and she thought that maybe, if he was around, things could be better. Idk I have a lot of thoughts about her but she deserves her own post.

🖤: Which character is not as morally good as everyone else seems to think?

Caitlin Snow. Because she's the token white woman of the main cast, a lot of people seem to uwu-ify her and make her into someone who can do no wrong. Really, Caitlin has willingly worked with a human trafficker and hid the fact that she had a murderous alternate personality from people who could help her with it, and the people who were put in danger because of it, for a really long time.

💔: If you had to remove one major character from the series, who would you choose?

Cecile Horton. Idk, she just bores me. She's an interesting character in the earlier seasons, but later on, her personality is just filed down to "empath".

🏳️‍🌈: Which character who is commonly headcanoned as queer doesn't seem queer to you?

They all seem like they're some flavor of LGBT+. However, with Caitlin Snow, people often headcanon her as bi or pan, but I see her as a-spec.

Obikin. Even though I'm aware that they're both adults when most people ship it, I'm just not a huge fan of the power imbalance in there. It gives me this feeling of visceral disgust, and if I see it untagged that gets an instant block from me. Ship and let ship, I'm not going to give someone hate if they ship it, but that ship kinda grosses me out.

💚: What does everyone else get wrong about your favorite character?

REVA WAS A CHILD!!! SHE WAS A CHILD SUCKED INTO A BRUTAL CULT AND NO ONE WAS THERE FOR HER!!!! YES SHE DID BAD THINGS BUT THAT DOES NOT MAKE HER A BAD PERSON! SHE WAS TRYING TO SURVIVE!!!! (also she's honestly one of the best most compelling characters that Star Wars has put out since the Clone Wars ended and anyone who says otherwise clearly doesn't understand her character)

Padme. Again, sad dead white woman can do no wrong. She was ready to stay with Anakin, to try to bring him back to the light, even after finding out that he murdered his friends and massacred children.

Kylo Ren. He really could have been interesting! He had so much potential! I was peak Reylo trash back when TLJ came out, but now? He got boring. There was potential there, but they just made him a generic conflicted sad bad boy.

General Hux. While I have enjoyed a few Huxlo fics in my time, I don't really see him as liking men, or he's just around the wrong type of men. MAYBE he'd be Bi with a very strong preference for women, a 0.1 on the Kinsey Scale, but I don't see him as being anything more than that.

What do YOU wanna tell us about mobei-mom?

1. I have some thoughts, but since I put so much of a Mongolian influence into the Northern Demon Kingdom, I don't want to make up things without further research.

2. Mostly exposure therapy, in the sense that he spent time with MBJ when he knew he wasn't in danger/was in control. I'm fond of pillow princess MBJ - he plays up being lazy and spoiled and SQH gets a bit of an ego trip doing with him as he pleases.

But also just generally talking about things when they are uncertain about eachother's culture and often even when they are certain, because their personal history shows that they don't know nearly as much as they think they do. The reassurance that MBJ is now educated about human limits and will ask and ask again before doing anything that might harm him helped him overcome his fears eventually.

3. Okay, so my idea as of now for Mobei-mom is that she's lost her corporeal form and is now more or less permanently attached to her husband as something ghost-adjacent. Not really willing to try to interact with the world at large because gods know what that would lead to, but she's definitely there and she's trying to keep Mobei-dad from despairing, despite his quickly failing health.

The cheesiest possible end state for this is that she catches her husband's soul when he dies and then waits patiently for MBJ to do the inheritance ritual and gain enough power that he can open a big enough rift for her to go back to the Endless Abyss, spirit husband in tow.

4. (I'm going to assume this was meant to be LGJ? :D) They will discuss it, but probably? He doesn't hate his job as such. Not this job, at least. Not yet. The way I picture it, in a more canon-adjacent verse he would have to take on increasing amount of work as his brother slowly fades away from the strain of the ancestral power, without hiring more aids because they are trying to keep it under wraps. So by the time MBJ takes over, he's been doing like 5 or 6 high end management jobs with not even enough staff to properly do one and he's beyond resentful.

In In Tune's verse, SQH notices that LGJ is exhibiting signs of overwork and will find a way to help him out somehow, so he never gets to the point where he just wants to see the world burn so he can have a day off. Being northern seneschal is a good, respected position where he can showcase his smarts, but not so dangerous that he has to worry overmuch for his life and he can go and spend his free time trying to court LQG.

5. Oh they absolutely do. SQH supplies the alcohol, LGJ gets them expensive Japanese snacks, and they vent to each other for a whole evening every now and then. It does both of them a lot of good.

6. Mobei-mom is not beholden to a lot of things, but she's compelled to follow Fate. That's why she stuck around to 'die' when MBJ was young, despite having a few opportunities to return to the Abyss.

She would recognize SQH as Author God if they ever met face to face, but wouldn't tell anybody about it. She would enjoy reading PIDW, even the repetitive papapa, but she would think LBH is a very boring protagonist.

She has actually met TLJ before, but TLJ was too young to remember her.
