for me, it keeps coming back the now deleted scene in anti-hero where taylor first openly used art about something that directly impacted her mental health. and i get why it would be triggering and uncomfortable to see a thin woman portray herself as "fat" on a scale. i understand the "problematic" edge to it. and yet... i still hate y'all for thinkpiecing her into deleting the scene. it was art about something that directly impacted HER mental health and folks felt entitled to tell her how she could make art about something that impacts HER. that HER MENTAL HEALTH was distressing them, could she pretty please censor it so it would stop triggering them.
like fuck y'all. i hope she never feels the need to censor herself again to cater to you fuck ass bitches. some of you DO need to be told you're being overbearing and entitled, sorry! you don't get to censor art just because you don't like who's making it or feel the person who made it isn't allowed to use art the way they used it.

feel free to add more, I just think it's funny that there's at least 3 musicals that have a 'high school is extremely bad' song and in 2 of them multiple teenagers die and in all 3 multiple teenagers get grievously injured. like they weren't kidding that high school really do hell.

I just want biden to know that him being a ‘trump alternative’ is not a sufficient enough reason for him to be re-elected and he can stop making that shit his only personality trait.

It's just, not possible to "harm none". Even if you're not doing baneful magic.
You cast a spell to get that job you want. What about another person who needs the job and the money?
You cast a spell to get that house/apartment you want. What about another person who needs a new place to live/needs to move asap?
You cast a spell to receive immediate medical treatment. What about another sick person who also desperately needs that appointment slot?
"Harm none" is bullshit in this world.

Freddy's death is the funniest to me because for every other Usher kid Verna gave them a chance to have a peaceful death, showed some degree of pity for how they were set up for failure by their father and aunt, and didn't make it personal. Even Roderick and Madeline's death were relatively quick and ultimately came about through their own actions.
But with Freddy she specifically chose not to let him die peacefully. She was just like "fuck you, I'm making sure you die with your dick out next to a puddle of your own piss, paralyzed and forced to watch as a giant swinging pendulum cuts you in two like a knock-off Saw trap, and I'm gonna monologue the whole time about how shitty you are". She played least favourite with him and it shows.

i’ve sometimes seen the idea that azula cheating in the agni kai by aiming at katara is supposed to show how far she’s fallen and how lost she is because she wouldn’t have cheated before, but that just… does not ring true to me.
i think this idea comes from her characterization of trying to live up to perfection, but i think it’s important to remember she’s functioning under ozai’s definition of perfection, a guy who infamously colluded with his wife to kill his father so that he could be firelord. i don’t get the particular sense he cares how, exactly, azula carries out the goals he’s set for her, as long as she accomplishes them.
and a lot of really prominent azula scenes turn on the axis of her being exactly this underhanded. in the avatar state, she tries to manipulate iroh and zuko into coming home under false pretenses, when she really means to arrest them. in bitter work, seeing she’s outnumbered, she makes a false surrender so that her opponents will hesitate/back down and then attacks iroh when they do. in the crossroads of destiny, she strikes aang with lightning from behind while he’s in the avatar state. in the awakening, she lies that zuko killed aang because she wants an insurance policy she won’t be blamed on a hunch he might be alive.
whether or not these break official rules of combat or acceptable legal/social behavior in-universe, i think it’s hard to deny that these actions form a pattern that showcases azula as someone not concerned with integrity or ideological fairness in such situations.
azula is a fascinating character, and her breakdown in sozin’s comet is tragic. but it’s not because she’s acting out of character; if anything, it’s because she’s falling back on old patterns despite her hallucination of her mother (and therefore her own subconscious) trying to warn her that using fear to control people isn’t truly viable. but that means her entire concept of the world is wrong, so she doubles down and shoots for katara, a noncombatant in this fight, having seen zuko agree to an agni kai in the hopes she wouldn’t get hurt and thus understanding he fears that and will make sure the lightning never reaches her. azula doesn’t care how she wins because it’s never mattered how she wins, as long as she does. but with katara defeating her and ozai’s impending downfall, it’s about to matter a lot more.

Helena, you just had to go and make it even more awkward at the end, didn't you?
Previous / Next
Helena: Ulrike?
Ulrike: Shit! I mean, hey. You are here. It's so fucking dark I thought maybe you'd already cleared out.
Helena: What are you doing here?
Ulrike: Well, I do still live here. Technically. I texted you Monday about coming to pack up the rest of my stuff.
Helena: Sorry, I haven't really... Wait, what's today?
Ulrike: Thursday. That must've been one hell of a party if you're still recovering. Helena, are you okay? You look like hell, and that voicemail... Hold on, are those my splatter tarps? No offense, but this looks insane.
Helena: [defensive] I have a migraine. It's called improvisation.
Ulrike: A migraine? I've never known you to-
Helena: I don't want to talk about it.
Ulrike: Fine. Let's get this over with. We've got a moving truck outside.
Helena: We?
Ulrike: Well, I figured you'd already be gone, so I called in reinforcements...
Isaiah: 'Sup, H.
Ange: The brawn has arrived.
Isaiah: Sorry to bust in on you, but we were promised food in exchange for our labor. We're just doing as we're told.
Ange: On that note, any leftovers you need help getting rid of?
Ulrike: I meant I'd buy you a pizza afterward, dummies, not that you could raid the fridge upon arrival.
Isaiah: But we're hungry now!
Ange: And we need our strength!
Helena: [sighs resignedly] It's okay. I haven't quite gotten the hang of cooking for one again anyway.

"there isn't a single valid justification to support team green and yet people still do it" yes and? didn't realise i need a justification to like a fictional family in a fictional tv show about flying lizards. i don't care about the throne, i don't care about the realm, i don't care about "justification", and i definitely don't care about what viserys did and didn't want. team green has the most compelling and complex characters and most compelling and complex dynamics #tome, and they happen to serve all the cunt

not to be a woman womaning all over the place but i feel like if you genuinely like. do not have friends that are women then you have something to work on. if you cant think of any female characters that you treat the same way you do male characters then you have something to work on. if you cant handle even seeing "i dont like being called a guy/bro/lad/etc because it doesnt feel gender neutral to me" but can understand when one of your masc besties is uncomfortable with being called girlie or sister then you have something to work on. if your default in regards to how you handle other people and even characters is to assume masculinity then you have something to work on. if you cant even let women and otherwise feminine people speak about our experiences without bringing up how you suffer too then you have something to work on.
it doesnt matter if youre queer or a poc or a minority in whatever which way, if you do not include women in your life and cant even stand a fucking inch of genuine feminism (and i dont mean terfs but god is it fucking agonizing that thats all you people can think of when you hear feminism anymore) where the point is to treat women, all women, equally then you have something to work on. listen to women, even the ones whose experiences completely dont align with yours (hell ESPECIALLY the ones whose experiences completely dont align with yours). just like how we all have to check ourselves for racism, ableism, queerphobia, we all have to check ourselves for misogyny too. stop acting like it got solved at some point. it still exists and it exists within you and you have to actually fucking work on that. "women should be included in your life and you should listen to them" shouldnt be a hard goddamn pill to swallow.

pretty please, my fellow progressives
Could we please all keep in mind that the concept of "The Jews In General, or A Specific Type Of Jew, Controls Education, Government, Media, and/or Banking", is a longstanding antisemitic trope?
And most of all, that it is false??
No, a marginalized group does not also control education, the government, the media, and/or banking?
No, Jews do not secretly control these things and just pretend to be marginalized? No, Jews have not secretly been accumulating power since the Holocaust, granted by too-generous gentiles, out of pity?
No, it isn't better if you just mean a specific subgroup or kind of Jews. It's still specifically Jews.
It's like when people who hate trans/queer people are fine with rich white cis gay men. So they think it's not bigoted to blame "people with blue hair and pronouns" for the downfall of society.
We all know this means, "I only see some of you as human like me. You have to speak and act a certain way to count. Everyone in your group has to pass a test to get into the Good group."
Doesn't work.
Sure, it gives them plausible deniability to the people who matter to them. But everyone else can see exactly how they feel.
We've all known for years that it's bad to think of a marginalized group as having some "good ones." Rein it the heck in, please.
Because YES, all of those examples are ones I've seen implied, or stated outright, over and over, within the progressive community. This month alone.
#antisemitism#anti-semitic#yes this is about how gentiles use zionism#yes this is about how fast it went from 'this isn't NECESSARILY antisemitic' to 'this ISN'T antisemitic'#yes this is about claiming that we claim antisemitism to deflect valid criticism#yes this is part of a larger pattern of violating every progressive standard but only for jews#none of us would ever say 'people are just claiming misogyny to deflect valid criticism'#we would never claim that trans people secretly control or “influence” the government#we would never treat Ukrainians like “'noble savages” who need us to speak for them#but we treat Palestinians like “noble savages” who need us to speak for them#we know to center the people affected and uplift their voices in every other situation#but in this situation we ignore the fact that we're supporting palestinians by talking ABOUT them#we swallow far-right Palestinian propaganda channeled through diaspora organizations#while Palestinians in Gaza demand completely different solutions and support#zionists echo Palestinian solutions and experiences because we know people in Israel and Palestine#and we get told we love genocide or just blocked#this is how Hamas propaganda is designed to work. Hamas has systematically silenced Palestinians for 18 years and now it's all you know#it is genuinely terrifying to see the entire progressive community sound exactly like the alt-right while it absolutely insists it's not#we also know to center marginalized people's voices about what harms them -- except the Jews?#honestly I think that progressives listened before Oct 7 and that the “no we just mean ZIONISTS are evil” has done wonders to reverse that#let's be real the zionists-not-jews trope comes from Hamas too#all it had to do was claim it definitely meant Zionists not Jews and that it was the Palestinian resistance and progressives flocked to it#its fighters were calling home from the massacre to boast about how many Jews they had killed. it has not changed.#i suppose that the zionists-not-jews thing gave freedom to unexamined antisemitism that people felt guilty about#but oh my god it caught on like absolute wildfire#wall of words
