Your 25th Birthday | Multiple Characters
Characters: Obanai Iguro, Mitsuri Kanroji, Shinobu Kocho, Sanemi Shinazugawa, Kyojuro Rengoku, Zenitsu Agatsuma, and Kanae Kocho
Warnings: Angsty themes ahead! Takes place after the canonical events of Demon Slayer but in an au where the characters who died survive! Reader is crippled in a few of these ( Kyojuro's s/o especially has been through hell and is heavily implied to be paralyzed from the waist down. There are also implications that she's been burned, cut up, etc. ) so read at your own risk!
Summary: It's the night before their marked!s/o's 25th birthday! How do they spend it with them? 🤔
A/N: I wrote this scenario over on Wattpad for a special and I really liked how it came out so I wanted to share some of my favorite parts over here on Tumblr! Hope you enjoy it! 😁
Tumblr media
"Do you think we'll meet each other in every life?" The question was whispered out in the dead of night as you sat on the engawa of your estate. Obanai sat next to you, being used for both support and a source of comfort. You watched the stars twinkle in the sky, a forgone look in your eyes that he's never seen before. It was unnerving to him since it felt like he was staring at a breathing corpse..
"Of course. If that's what you want, I'll find you in every life," He answered to which you hummed, your expression unchanging from the one of unsettling contentment.
"What if something happens to prevent us from being together?" You muttered grimly despite the smile painted on your face. Obanai was quicker answering this time around, "Nothing would prevent me from being with you. Nothing."
"Even if I'm a total jerk?" You questioned. He answers, "Even if you're a total jerk."
"Even if we're on opposite sides of the world?" You continued. He answers, "Even if we're on opposite sides of the world."
"Even if I turned into a man-eating demon and tried to eat you?" And then he pauses. You giggle at him despite the bad taste the lack of answer gives you and mutter out a soft, "Sorry. That was mean of me to ask. Forget—"
"Even.." This time, you pause. Your head bobbing back to look up at him and those marvelous mismatched eyes of his. He's already looking at you by that time. He's been doing so the entire time, never once glancing at the night sky since the two of you sat down.
He continues, "..Even if you turned into a man-eating demon and tried to eat me," He says, "I can't promise that we would be together in that life, but in the afterlife, I'd do everything in my power to make you the happiest person in the world."
You hadn't realized it until he moved his hand from your waist and started rubbing at your cheeks that you had started crying. Even when you did realize it, you didn't do anything besides let the tears fall because even if you wanted to wipe away the tears, you had long lost feeling in your arms to do so.
In the end, you smother your face into his haori, not caring that you suddenly felt the cool scales of Kaburamaru as he wrapped himself snugly—but not too tightly—around your neck.
"Thank you.." You sniveled as your tears wet his shoulder, "Thank you so much for loving me, Obanai.."
"Thank you for allowing me to love you, Y/n," He said back as he let you stain his shoulder with your tears.
Tumblr media
"Awh, don't cry, pretty girl.. Not over me," You cooed as your fingers ran through the pink of Mitsuri's hair. She was hunched over on the bedside, face in your lap and her fat, wet tears dripping down her stained cheeks—passing the moles under her eyes that you love to kiss—and splashing onto your kimono.
She had worked so hard trying to mentally prepare herself for tonight, but when she entered the room and saw your tired, smiling face staring back at her, she broke down.
There was still so much she wanted to do with you! So many dates she wanted to take you on! So many foods she wanted to cook and try with you! So many firsts she still hasn't been able to take from you and so many firsts you haven't had the time to take from her! So many memories she still wanted to make with you!
Why can't she be given just a little more time with her sweetheart? She gets that this sacrifice was a necessary one and she wouldn't be here otherwise if it weren't for you pushing yourself the extra mile and saving her, but she can't help the sinking feeling of regret that drags her heart down to her stomach by a chain of sorrow at the thought of you leaving..
 "I- I'm..so sorry.." She managed to say between sobs, "I'm.. I'm sorry...I.."
"Sorry for what, honey?' You asked her in a tender tone, "You haven't done anything wrong."
"I.. I.." She takes a moment, unable to form a proper sentence without choking on her own sobs, "I'm sorry for being such a horrible wife!" Now, you certainly weren't expecting that out of all things..
Your brows furrow as your hand stills in her hair, "You aren't a bad wife, honey," You said, trying your best to sound firm despite the slight tremor in your voice from exhaustion.
"Yes, I am!" She wailed, "I haven't been able to do anything for you! You.. You were always the one caring for me and I haven't been able to fulfill any of your needs or do anything you should be proud of!"
"Hey, hey, hey," You shushed, "Look at me..please," And she listens immediately like a puppy at your beck and call. She lifts her head, her big green eyes puffy and filled to the brim with tears despite the constant stream that flows down her pink, warmed cheeks.
"You are an amazing wife, alright? Marrying you was the best thing to ever happen to me," You told her, putting a slight pause between each word to better emphasize your statement. You used your fingers to urge her to come closer and she complies, inching closer until she's close enough so that you could cup her face.
"You simply waking up and smiling at me everyday is enough for me. Seeing you happy and healthy is enough for me, do you understand me?" You asked, the shake in your voice getting worse, "You've done everything to satisfy me. If anything, I should apologize to you for not granting your wishes."
What are you talking about? There's no way you seriously think that, right?
"No! Don't apologize!" Suddenly pushing herself up with her arms, her face suddenly got so close to yours that you had to move your had back so that you two didn't accidentally bump heads, "My wish was to marry someone who'd love me for me.. Wh-.. Who'd love my freakish strength and my weird hair color and my abnormal appetite and you've done that better than anyone ever could!" As she talks, her cool tears drip onto your warm hands and scatter upon contact, "You've made me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world and you've spoiled me at every turn! You've made my life feel like it was worth living, so please—!" She moves forward, wrapping her arms around your neck and putting her tearful face into your shoulder, "Don't downplay your hard work! I can't bear you doing that after you've given so much to me!"
And with that, she crumbles all over again on your shoulder, and to your surprise, you do too. As her grip loosens and she slides down your body, ending with her head at your lap once again and bawling into it, you felt your eyes welling up with tears.
"Mitsuri.." Your throat began to ache from trying to keep your voice steady as your bottom lip began tremble. You tried to control yourself further by slapping your hand over your mouth to muffle a sob that threatened to slip from your lips, but your tears rolled from your eyes without your permission and down your hand, dripping onto your beloved before you could catch them with your other hand..
In the end, a particularly loud hiccup sounded your defeat and you bowed your head. Your hands sliding over your face as you cried with the former Love Hashira who you are grateful to call your spouse in this life.
Tumblr media
"It's been a while since I've seen that expression on your face," You said as you gazed up at the prettiest woman you've ever laid your eyes on. Her thin brows dipped and wrinkling her smooth, porcelain-like skin just like the thin line she made with her lips, which you notice twitch just a tad at your comment.
She doesn't say anything to retort what you said. Not a witty remark or sarcastic, irritated utterance or a flowery deflection leaving her pink-painted lips. She simply gazes down in silence, her polished thumb rubbing lines into the back skin of your hand in a steady motion. It causes your eyes to frown and otherwise droop as you realize that your simple attempt at relieving the tense atmosphere in the room has failed.
"Shinobu," You call, "Can you smile for me?" And she listens, her brows lifting just like her lips as they form into that perfect smile that took her years to perfect. Just the sight of it makes you frown.
"Not like that. I want to see a genuine smile.." You mutter and just like that, her smile drops and her brows knit together once again. This time, though, it's all brought together by the vein flexing on her forehead.
"How am I suppose to do that when my wife is dying in front of me?" She asks, voice quiet and complimented by a vexed tone. In the past, you always hated when she got mad at you. Seeing her so visibly irked was frightening, even more so when it was directed at you..
But right now, hearing her angry tone and seeing her infuriated expression brought you nothing but comfort and caused your smile to return. She notices it and it pushes her to ask you in an exasperated tone, "How can you do that?"
You blink, confused "Do what?"
"Smile," She tells you, "You of all people know what's about to happen, but you still smile at me.."
"What's wrong with that? Can't I smile at the woman I fell head over heels for until I stop breathing?" You egg on and that little nudge is all she needs to be pushed over the edge and for her to explode and for tears of pure frustration to fill her eyes.
"Stop joking around!" Her voice comes out raised and aggressive, like an angry dog ready to attack someone. She must've realized that, because she grits her teeth and sucks in a breath. Taking a few seconds to collect herself a little before continuing. Her voice was still brimming with anger, but sounding more controlled.
"You're going to die any minute now. Don't you understand that? You're going to pass away and leave everything behind..you're going to leave me alone here.. You know all of that, yet you still smile at me without a hint of regret or sadness, and I'm sorry, but I can't stand looking at you like that!"
"Why would I have regrets?" You ask, "I achieved all my goals and did everything I wanted to do in this lifetime. Kibutsuji is dead. There are no more demons terrorizing the innocent. And, I was able to live the rest of my years surrounded by the ones I love and cherish. I even got the bonus of becoming a Kocho and marrying the woman of my dreams," You say, rubbing at your finger as the ring on it flashes in the moonlight that shines down through the singular window in the room, "What's there to regret?"
"What about the fact that everything is coming to an end? You won't be here to make memories with me or any of your friends or family?" As the tears fall down her cheeks, Shinobu finds herself balling her hands into fists. She despised crying, especially when in the presence of others, but she couldn't control herself. Like an immature little kid, she couldn't control her emotions and her blood boiled all the more because of it.
"I'll always be here, even if it's not physically," You told her softly and she starts matching your tone, although the agitation in hers is still so apparent.
"Be serious for one second, Y/n," She snapped, only for you to follow up with, "I've been serious this entire time, love."
Then her tone raises again, "No, you haven't!" And then it falls again as she lets out an embarrassing choke, "T- There's..no way you have. How could you possibly be fine with this?"
"Because I know that as long as the people I love are still here to remember me and value that time I spent with them, I'll never truly die.. At least..not in their eyes," You tell her, ignoring the fact that Shinobu is starting to become harder and harder to see by the second.
Shinobu sobs and chokes die down after a while. By that time, your eyelids started feeling like paper weights; unbearably heavy. You tried to play it off by blinking slowly, but your wife caught on quickly. She could tell you were hitting your limit and you thought that'd it make her anger spike again or cause her another breakdown, but neither happened. Instead she surprised you by curling her lips upwards. Her eyes were red from crying and you couldn't see it well, but the corner of her brows twitched. Her cheeks was also stained pink, likely from embarrassment of having broke down in front of someone, even if that someone was her own wife.
To put it frankly, she was a mess with a smile painted over it. But it was genuine and from the heart and that was enough to satisfy you.
Tumblr media
The afternoon glow of the sky shone down on you as you stuck your hand, which had a handful of rice in it, out to a dog. Sanemi watched, looking like a little kid experiencing their first crush, as the dog barely hesitated to come closer and begin liking at your hand.
The scene was like a painting come to life. You were all dressed up in an expensive kimono he bought you. Your hair was styled in a way to match your attire and to frame your face, which was powdered in elegant, nice-looking makeup. And, you had a smile on your face as you gave the dog a similar look a mother would give her child while rocking them to sleep in her arms.
That thought reminded him of how he could never bring himself to make you a mother. How he feared that he wouldn't be able to bear the sight of your child, who'd undoubtedly resemble you in some kind of way, after your passing. Or, how he feared he'd accidentally end up just like his monstrous, asshole of a father and you'd stare at him with the same fright in your eyes as his mother did to his father.
He's not cut out to be a dad. Never was. And it's a shame because Sanemi knows you'd make an excellent mother. Thinking about it puts a bad taste in his mouth and in an attempt to rid himself of those thoughts, he huffs out a sigh and runs his fingers through his hair. He can't risk thinking of something so disheartening and make himself sad. You proposed taking a walk around to clear his head of such thoughts after all and he doesn't want your efforts to go to waste.
"Sanemi," He blinks. How long were you calling his name? He stares at you once again and this time, you're turned and staring over your shoulder at him, who's sat on the steps, your hand now running through the dog's fur. Your smile is still there, but your eyes are dimmed with concern. The sight makes him feel guilty as it dawns on him that he probably worried you.
"Are you alright?" You asked and he responds to you quickly, "I'm fine. Don't worry about me."
Maybe it was because of how fast he answered you, but you didn't seem convinced. You kept staring at him with a woeful, skeptical look and it broke him, so he rephrases his previous statement, "I was just..thinking about stuff."
"What kind of stuff?" You asked, your hand leaving the dog's at last and getting up from your crouched position in front of the dog, "Want to talk about it?"
"No," He replied, but you walked up to him and sat beside him on the steps anyways and he sighs and says, "I promise it's nothing. Today is your day, so let's do something that focuses on you."
He sees your smile widen, and he finds himself unable to keep eye contact with a work of art such as yourself. He looks away from you, the tips of his ears beginning to burn. He then hears that addicting laugh of yours and he feels his heart thrumming in his chest. Gosh, you were going to be the death of him..
"You're such a sweetheart," No he isn't, was what he wanted to say but decided against it to spare both of you an unnecessary argument. It's a known fact that he's the farthest thing from sweet. That said, when he's in your presence, he can't help but be overly gentle with you. He can't help but touch and caress you as if you were made of priceless gemstones. He can't help but pamper you like you're some kind of princess. That's probably why your perception of him is so skewed compared to others.
You are the only person alive who has that perception of him. You are the only person alive who can set his skin ablaze with something as simple as a poke of your finger. You are the only person alive who'd devote your limited time on making him feel the way you have. You are the only person alive who still saw him a kind light while whispering endearments and kissing him and feeling him years ago when many people around him saw him as a monster.
..And someone so kind, so caring, so compassionate..will no longer be in this world soon. You, who always looked at him like he was the most precious thing in the world will soon perish because you disregarded your own wellbeing during the war and gave your all to bring an end to that abomination named Muzan Kibutsuji.
"Y/n.." He calls, still not looking at you. You hum, waiting on him to continue. Certainly not expecting him to ask, "Would you be willing to waste another lifetime loving me?"
A silence grew between you two and Sanemi would be lying if he said that it didn't hurt not hearing a response from you. He expected it though.
"I don't have much to offer you in this life and I wouldn't be surprised if the same goes for the next. I also can't promise I'll act any better. ..Tch, there's a better chance that I'll be more of a prick in my next life—"
"I would," He grows silent, finally turning his head towards you so that he could look you in the eyes. So that he could scan your facial expression. So that he could find proof that you were lying in your statement just now. But, he doesn't find anything of the sorts and it makes him feel sick—repulsed—at how giddy he feels at the realization that you're dead serious.
"Although, I don't think it'd be a waste of a life," You continued as an afterthought, taking mind to the way he wraps his fingers around the hand that you are leaning on and being as delicate as always as he peels it away from the ground so that he could hold it in his hand.
"If you act even a little like you do now in your next life, I wouldn't mind spend all of eternity with you," He brings your hand up to his face, planting a kiss to the back of your hand before he presses the back of your hand to his forehead and tells you..
"..Thank you for being kind enough..to choose me again."
Tumblr media
"You look radiating," He told you. It didn't make your frown turn upside down or even budge as you stared at yourself, sat in a wheelchair; a thick, flowery blanket draped over your legs to keep them warm—not that you could really feel the warmth. Sometime after your 23rd birthday, you stopped feeling the lower half of your body.
"I used to look radiating," You muttered dryly, your only functional eye moving to scrutinize every little scar and wrinkle that ruined your skin. Looking at them made your frown deepened as well as huff out a loud, long, breathy sigh; one that sounded just as tired as you looked in the mirror..
"I don't know why you still wanted me after the war. Look at me.."
"Okay!" Kyojuro said from behind you and just like he's told, his golden, fiery eyes give you a good, long look through the mirror. As the seconds turn into minutes, you find your face heating up. You were ashamed of yourself. Your once smooth skin was littered in painfully permanent cracks, bruises, and blemishes that were caused by mistakes against powerful demons. Your face had more wrinkles than a grandmother despite the fact that you were only in your mid-twenties. Your lips had scars so deep and dark that even the brightest-colored lipstick couldn't hide them.
To put it in simple terms, the sight of yourself made you want to barf.
"I've did what you wanted," He finally says, "Do you know what I see?"
"An ugly, disgusting hag?" You finish for him and you hear a gentle, warm laugh from behind you. It makes a wave of embarrassment ride through the ocean of your stomach. You were being laughed at by your husband. It was humiliating, but you didn't blame him. I mean, you were hideous in your eyes. You probably looked a thousand times worse to other people..
"I see a woman with beautiful eyes that shine like the sun whenever she's happy or proud or upset. A woman who's personality makes me laugh and feel loved and proud. A woman with lips softer than the clouds in the sky even though the words that come out of them usually aren't nearly as fluffy. A woman who's body I always fantasize holding and protecting no matter the attire that covers it. The woman who'd kick me on my butt during a spar and then fret for hours over me getting a tiny cut from chopping vegetables.."
"Y/n, I know that we don't see the same thing, but if I could give you my sight, I know that even you would grow flush from how absolutely breathtaking you are in my eyes."
"Stop," You snap, your head hung low, "Stop," You repeat, but your voice sounds more fragile; like glass cracking bit by bit.
"Stop what?" He crouches down and then slides over so that he's on his knees by your side. His smile is as bright as it was when you first met him all those years ago, "Stop praising my wife?"
"Yes because your wife looks like a freak of nature! A- A demon! A—!"
"—A woman who worked hard and gave her all and pushed past her limits so that me, my family, my friends, and the rest of the world could live in peace," He finishes and then continues, "A woman who sacrificed so much to make sure that no one has to suffer by the hands of a demon ever again.." As he spoke, admiration drips into his voice like sweet honey, "A woman I am honored to call my wife; you."
"Shut up!" You said as you shattered completely, tears filling your eyes without your permission, "Shut up.. Shut up.." You wept.
"I.. I'm not.." And in that moment, something else broke inside of you and you couldn't utter another word. Tears, snot—everything rolled violently down your face and in a pathetic attempt to hide that sight from the world, both of your hands come up to cover your face. And without missing a beat, Kyojuro, smiling from ear to ear, wraps his big, warm arms around you and encases your frail, upper half..
"I love you, Y/n. It truly was, and is, an honor to be your husband."
Tumblr media
"What am I going to do, Y/n?" He found himself asking as he gazed up at you from where he laid in your lap. He had been, understandably, anxious and upset all day and to prevent him from wallowing in that sadness until your inevitable demise, you asked him to lay his head down in your lap and allow you to stroke his hair.
"You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. My life was a pathetic mess before I met you.." He shamelessly admits, "I'm nothing without you.."
"I'm positive that you'll be okay," You reassure, or at least, you try to. The look he gives you after you say that makes it clear that your words didn't make him feel better at all.
"Zenitsu, you may find it hard to believe, but you're a strong person. Why else do you think I'm so calm right now?" You ask, and he doesn't say anything as he's unable to find the right words to refute you. It's a step in the right direction, you think.
"I think my husband is more than able to fill my place when I'm gone. I know whatever decision he'll make without me will be from the best intentions. He'll be able to keep our family afloat, protected, and feeling loved and that's all I wish for," You continued, hoping to really drive your words into his head and ease his spirit. Alas, you should've known that Zenitsu will always find a way to be pessimistic whenever it came to himself.
"You overestimate me. I could never replace you," He mumbles, "Compared to you, I'm- Ow!" He sucks in a sharp wince through his teeth and his hand comes up to cover the top of his head which was now in pain. You had landed a firm flick to the center top of his head and to say that it hurt like a bitch would be an understatement.
"You underestimate yourself," You retort. Your hands peeling his away so that you could gently comb your fingers through that area of his scalp as if to nonverbally apologize. He accepts the apology quickly and his hands go back to fiddling with each other atop his stomach.
"I just..don't get what you see in me.." He finally confesses, "I'm overjoyed that you were willing to marry me and even have my kids. It's just..I don't see why you'd do that.." And you sigh at him and he sees you shake your head.
"Hopefully you will eventually.." You say as you lean down. Zenitsu eyes fall close involuntarily and after a moment, he feels you brush aside his hair and press your lips to his forehead. Even when you part from him, he could still feel tingles..
As you straighten your position and gaze down at your husband once again, you can't help but chuckle at the sight of him looking up at you with his face sparkling in a strawberry blush and his pupils glowing with his love for you. There's also the silly look of his bangs being pushed away to reveal the big red kiss-shaped stain in the center that really pulls the sight together.
He looked like an idiot in love, which I guess isn't too far from the truth.
"My wish is that one day, you'll be able to look in the mirror and see what I've seen for almost an entire decade; a tough, talented, stunning man with a personality like no one I've ever seen and a heart of gold to boot."
Tumblr media
"How are you feeling?" Kanae asked, sitting at your bedside. The question earns a grin from you.
"However one is supposed to feel when they're about to die," You replied and you notice your girlfriend's expression change to one of realization to a more abashed look.
"I'm sorry, that was a pointless question.." She mumbled and your shoulders shook a little from you trying to control your laughter.
"No, no. It's okay, love. You were just trying to make sure I was comfortable," You said before patting the bed, "Now, c'mon. I wanna lay with you one last time."
Her smile drops completely at that. One last time..right. This will be the last time you two will be able to do this..or do anything together. Her teeth grits behind her lips at the thought. She won't be able to spend anymore time with you. No more dates or little walks or tending to the garden together. When you're gone, that'll be the end of all of that..
It's hard to accept, but not accepting it would be immature and that's the last thing she is. And so, although reluctant, she gets up, crawls into bed, and lays by your side. You waste no time in pulling her closer until her chest hits yours and you're able to lean your head into her shoulder.
There's a silence for a while as you simply take the time to breathe in her scent. She always smelled so nice, like the flowers she grows in the garden. It's light, not too potent, but addictively sweet.
"Man, this sucks," You murmur, "Dying just before the big battle.. How unlucky is that?" She seriously couldn't believe you and she couldn't help but show it on her face for a moment. You were about to die and what you're upset about..is not being able to fight against Kibutsuji? It leaves a bad taste in her mouth knowing that in the end, you're thinking of someone like him instead of..
No. Perish the thought, Kanae. Thoughts like that are selfish and infantile. As a demon slayer, you of all people should understand that feeling of discontentment.
"Forgive me for saying this, but I'm actually glad that you'll have to opt out of this fight," She says and you hum as your interest is peaked, "And why is that? Because you don't want me to get hurt?" You ask and she nods against you.
"Of course," She says and you huff at how dumb your question was. You then mumble out, "Right.."
Silence envelopes the room once again like an awkward hug. Neither of you knew what to say. There were things you could say, but since you were both trying to avoid sobbing into each others' arms for the rest of the night, neither of you said them aloud. On the other hand, trying to force this half-assed casual conversation doesn't feel the best..
And so, you let out a shaky breath in an attempt to quell your nerves as you whisper to her, "I'm scared, Kanae.. I don't want to die.."
And her grip around you tightens as she whispers back, "I'm scared too. But, it's okay if we're both scared because that means we can comfort each other for the rest of the night,"
You can feel her hands trembling on your thigh and you crane your neck so that you can get a full glance at her smile which poorly covered her nervous expression in the darkness. Seeing it kind of felt like a breath of fresh air..
"I'd like that.." You said in the end, "I'd like that a lot.."

His Good Girl - An Umemiya x Reader Fanfic
Sold to a local mafia syndicate by your indebted parents, you’re forced to “entertain” a visiting rival mafia head named Umemiya.
Smut. 18+. Fem Reader. AU. Umemiya as a 20-something mafia boss. Dubcon. Oral sex. Inexperienced Reader. Umemiya is a sweetheart.
This is my first time writing Umemiya so please be gentle! Any feedback is adored! This was inspired by a bizarre dream I had and the idea refused to leave my brain. I might write a follow up if there’s any interest. Divider by @benkeibear.
Tumblr media
Your parents owed the local mafia way more money than they could ever repay, so they basically handed you over as payment the day you turned 19. It’s only been a week, and so far you’re still uncertain what your job will be here. You figured you’d be shoved into some brothel, but thankfully, not yet.
The whole mafia mansion is abuzz today because of some meeting taking place tonight. Apparently they’re hosting the heads of several local mafia families to try to negotiate territories and boundaries. An older lady comes in and explains to you and ten other young women what your roles will be.
To keep the heads of the other families happy and compliant, the plan is to have you and the other women “entertain” them. You feel a knot in your stomach, already guessing what that might entail. Then she goes over the details, and it’s somehow worse. You’re to spend the entirety of the meeting, which could take hours, cockwarming them. With your mouths. You won’t be allowed to take their dicks out of your mouths unless they have to leave the room, and your job will be to make them cum as many times as possible.
The men in charge of this family seem to think it will be amusing, watching all these stoic, powerful men trying to keep their cool while pretty ladies are on their knees in front of them, sucking them off all evening.
You feel sick to your stomach, but you don’t argue or protest. You’re told that doing this one job will cut your parents’ debt in half. The sooner you work it off, the sooner you can be free of this place. So you grimly prepare with the other women, dressing up in tantalizing outfits and putting on makeup. You’ll try your best, even though you have no experience with this sort of thing.
When the meeting starts, you and the other women are already in the room. There’s a half circle of eleven chairs, and you watch in trepidation as the guests begin walking in.
None of them are gross, at least. Most are fairly attractive, even the slightly older ones. And to a man, they are all dressed impeccably. Figures. No self respecting mafia head is going to show up looking like a slob.
The last man to arrive catches your eye, for a number of reasons. The first thing you notice is that he’s tall. Really tall. He towers over everyone else in the room. The second thing you notice is that he’s incredibly handsome. He has fine features, soft white hair that’s mostly slicked back, a few strands falling into his bright blue eyes. He’s younger than the rest. You’d guess mid twenties. He’s radiant, smiling in a friendly manner, wearing a long jacket that’s been left unbuttoned. It’s a casual style that would look unpolished on anyone else, but on him it looks stylish.
The women behind you are whispering, but you can’t hear what they’re saying. Are they talking about him?
The hosting mafia head explains the plans for the meeting, and why the women are there. Almost all of the visiting heads seem excited, but you notice the tall, beautiful man seems unhappy with the idea.
“That sounds pretty miserable for the ladies,” he says, glancing at the group of women.
The hosting mafia boss who owns you laughs. “Nonsense! They all feel honored to be able to serve such distinguished gentlemen! Isn’t that right, ladies?”
All of the women, including you, slowly nod. A few of them even put on phony smiles. The handsome man’s eyes meet yours for a brief moment. Can he see the near panic in them?
“Regardless, I think I’ll respectfully decline,” he says.
One of the other guests slaps him playfully on the back. “What’s wrong, Umemiya? Afraid you won’t last as long as the rest of us?”
So his name is Umemiya. He gives the other man an awkward smile. “Haha, maybe.”
The host narrows his eyes. “If you decline, we’ll take that as an insult to our hospitality, and we’ll have to ask you to leave the meeting.”
Umemiya looks back at the man, and though his friendly expression doesn’t change, there’s a gleam in his eyes, like a quiet anger bubbling beneath the surface. Then he sighs and says, “Fine. I guess I’ll accept your… hospitality.”
All the men take seats in the half circle, including the host, who is clearly excited to begin. Then he looks at the women and says, “Ladies, I’ll allow you the honors of choosing tonight.”
You and the other women stand there awkwardly for a moment. You hear one of them say in a low voice to another, “That guy’s gorgeous but I’m definitely not picking him.”
You turn to face her. “Huh? Why not?”
Her voice is a whisper. “Oh, honey. Think about it. A guy that tall is gonna have a huge dick. I don’t want to choke all night. It would be unbearable. A shame though, he actually seems nice.”
You watch nervously as the women begin selecting their men for the evening. The more handsome ones are taken first, then the others, until only Umemiya remains. You realize with shock, and embarrassment, that you have to pick him. You shyly approach, your hands fiddling with the hem of the too short skirt you were told to wear.
He looks up at you with an uneasy grin. “Guess I was last picked. That’s kind of embarrassing!” Then his eyes seem to focus on your face. “How old are you?”
“I’m nineteen,” you squeak out.
He sighs again. “At least you’re an adult.” He gives you a warm smile. “I’m sorry about this. I’ll try to make this as easy on you as possible, so let’s try to get through it together.”
You feel your heart flutter. You can’t believe how nice he is, on top of being ridiculously good looking. Maybe this won’t be so bad.
The other women begin dropping to their knees in front of their chosen men, so you do the same, feeling completely out of your depth.
“Have you ever done this before?” he asks as he begins unbuckling his belt.
You shake your head. “Never.”
“Fuck,” he whispers, then he looks at you apologetically. “I’m really sorry about this.”
Huh? Why does he keep apologizing? He was basically threatened into doing this, same as you. But those thoughts freeze in your brain when you see the enormous organ he just pulled out of his pants.
Ehhhhhh???? Is this thing for real?! Surely they’re not supposed to be that big! You glance to the side, and the woman to your right is staring at it with bulging eyes. Then she gives you a pitying look.
Umemiya himself looks a little embarrassed. “Uh, it gets a little bigger when I’m fully hard. Just thought I’d warn you.”
It gets bigger?! How?! You try to contain your shock as you eye the imposing shaft.
The host claps twice to get everyone’s attention. “Alright, let’s begin the meeting! Ladies, remember to keep those cocks all the way in your mouths! And don’t forget to keep those tongues busy!”
You look back at the cock in front of you with alarm. The women beside you both lean forward and take dicks into their mouths. You couldn’t help noticing that those dicks looked tiny by comparison to Umemiya’s.
“Take your time,” he says to you in a comforting voice, “ease it in slowly. It’s okay if your teeth touch it, just try not to bite down.”
“O-okay,” you say, leaning your face forward and opening your mouth. It’s already bigger than when he first pulled it out, quickly growing hard despite his reluctance to participate. You feel it press in past your lips, dragging across your tongue, and finally hit the back of your throat. That’s it. That’s as far as it goes, right?
Looking forward, you can see that he’s not all the way in your mouth. Your eyes flick toward the host, worried that he’ll notice. Umemiya seems to notice. “Try to relax your throat,” he tells you. “That’s it, you’re doing good.”
His voice sends goosebumps across your skin as his massive cock slides even further in, going partially down your throat.
“Breathe through your nose,” he says.
Your hands are on his thighs, gripping the fabric of his pants. You’re gagging slightly, trying to keep it under control and focus on breathing. At least he smells nice, like fresh citrus.
The meeting begins. The host starts talking, but you can’t listen to him. Your full attention is on the giant cock in your mouth. Occasionally you hear one of the men grunt or groan, but overall they seem to be trying to focus on the meeting. Umemiya is eerily calm, maintaining his usual expression and only glancing down to meet your gaze every so often.
After what feels like forever, your jaw is sore and your throat aches. Tears fill your eyes. When Umemiya notices, he looks at you guiltily before moving one large hand over to gently rub the top of your head. “Good girl,” he says, “you’re taking me really well.”
The statement makes heat spread over your face. Then you remember that you’re supposed to be making him cum. The thought of it makes you excited somehow. You feel the urge to pleasure him, to make him feel good. He’s been so sweet to you after all. He hasn’t moved at all, letting you do things at your own pace. Looking up at his face, it’s clearer than ever how gorgeous he is.
You tighten your lips around his base, your tongue gliding across the underside of his shaft while your tight throat constricts around his tip. He looks down at you suddenly, blue eyes slightly widened, another strand of his hair slipping down across his forehead.
“You don’t have to do this,” he says quietly.
You wish you could tell him that you want to. Instead you continue, licking him and sucking out the gooey precum from his tip. You hear his breath catch in his throat, but he makes no other reaction.
He holds out for longer than you expected, even speaking to the host at one point. But eventually his hand grips your hair, and for the first time you feel a bit of force from him as he pushes your head down, his cock going halfway down your throat and choking you. Immediately, you feel his warm cum flood your mouth, coating the back of your tongue and oozing down your neck.
His hand quickly releases you, and he mutters another apology. His face looks slightly flushed, and he’s breathing a little harder. Oh god, he looks so hot right now. You feel a growing dampness between your legs as you stare up at him, his now soft cock still in your mouth.
Right away you begin gently suckling on the sticky flesh, your tongue pressing into the tip.
“If you keep doing that, I’m gonna be hard again in no time,” he tells you.
You look up at him, hoping he can read your intentions from your eyes. You want to pleasure him, again and again.
He pats your head affectionately. “You’re so cute.”
Ahh? Did this unbelievably beautiful man, who happened to be a powerful mafia boss, just call you cute? You feel yourself blushing. You’re not sure if it’s possible to fall in love with a man while his cock is in your mouth, but you think you just did.
By the time the long, boring meeting ends, you’ve made him cum twice more, both times feeding you his tasty cum and calling you his “good girl”.
After it’s over, you pull away, your jaw stiff and hurting. Your mouth is a mess, wet and sticky, covered in drool and cum. A handkerchief appears in front of your face, and you look up to find Umemiya holding it out to you with a friendly smile. You take it, wiping your mouth before he stands and helps you to your feet.
“Are you alright?” he asks.
You move your jaw a bit, then wince. “I’ll be okay,” you answer.
He stares at you for a moment, then asks, “How did you end up here?”
You glance around to make sure no one is paying attention. “My parents owed a debt, so they gave me as payment.”
Umemiya frowns. “Let me guess, their debt transferred to you.”
You nod.
“Alright then,” he says. “I’ll pay off your debt if you’ll come work for me.”
Your eyes widen. “What?”
“Oh, don’t worry, it’ll be a legitimate job, nothing like this. And you’d be free to come and go as you please.”
“You’d do that for me?” you ask. “Why?”
He scratches the back of his head, looking a little awkward. “Maybe I imagined it, but it felt like there was something between us. Not just the physical stuff. Was it just me?”
“No! I felt it too!” you tell him. You’re too embarrassed to tell him your panties are soaked.
He gives you a heated look. “Then maybe I can return the favor.”
Your skin flushes as you press your thighs together in anticipation. “I’d like that.”
He grins. “I’ll go talk to the boss. Just wait here for me.”
He walks away, and you feel your heart beating so fast, you feel like it might burst. You smile happily, ready to begin your new, much better life.

AU: arranged marriage au (Joseon era)
Word Count: 3.7k
Summary: Life has been hell ever since your mother's passing many years ago. Despite being from a prominent family, you've never received the privileges associated with it. It only got worse with the arrival of your stepmother and her daughters. When the intimidating General Park was in search of a wife, your father seized the opportunity to dispose of you, simultaneously securing a connection with the powerful general—killing two birds with one stone.
Part 4 | Fic Masterlist | Part 6

"She's severely malnourished, and the injuries on her body tell us that she's undergone quite the abuse, seemingly for years. But I assume you already deduced that much, yes?" Yunho stated as he turned to your husband.
Seonghwa nodded grimly, "Yes, unfortunately. Is there anything you can do to help with all the marks?"
"Given the lack of proper treatment for so long, most of her wounds have only worsened, resulting in permanent scars from various infections. I'll do my best to treat as much as I can, but please understand that I won't be able to eliminate most of these scars." The physician explained, not wanting to give the general any false hope of restoring your skin back to its original form.
Thankfully, Seonghwa wasn't naturally inclined to optimism, and he didn't care to entertain the idea of a miracle. He sighed, "I understand, Yunho. It doesn't matter to me if the scars remain, just... make all the pain go away for her. That's all that matters."
Though possibly surprised, Yunho didn't reveal it in his expression. That might have been the sweetest sentiment he had ever heard from the general. He nodded, "Very well. I'll need a few tools and herbs to prepare her tonic and ointment. Should I stay in the usual quarters until my work is complete?"
Eager to see her mistress recover quickly, the head maid was ready for action. She stood up as soon as her master addressed her, "Eunsook, you know what to do. Organise a team of servants to assist Physician Jung with everything he requires and prepare his usual accommodation."
Without having to be told twice, she swiftly moved to leave Seonghwa's room, "Yes, master! Please come with me, Physician Jung." The general watched as everyone exited his private quarters, leaving him alone with you.
Bringing a chair beside the bed, he seated himself next to you and mustered the courage to hold your hand. Gently rubbing his thumbs over your skin, he felt a pang in his heart, realising that it was far from how the hand of someone your age should be – smooth and flawless. Instead, it bore the marks of what he could only imagine as endless pain.
Reflecting on the unfounded accusations he had hurled at you after your sincere expression of gratitude during dinner, he wished he could turn back time and retract his words, if only it were possible. As if your life hadn't already been hell, he had only made it worse for you.
Suddenly, the notion of you being genuinely happy with The Cold Palace didn't seem so far-fetched. After all, who could fathom the inhumane living conditions you had endured for all those years? However, this realisation brought him no comfort; the fact that your life back in the Jang estate was so bad that you had to express gratitude for being given such a place was heartbreaking.
Seonghwa was jolted from his thoughts when he sensed your weak hand squeezing his. Looking up, he noticed your anguished expression as you cried in your sleep, your voice brokenly uttering, "I'm sorry..."
He felt his heart clench at the sight, prompting him to move and sit closer to you on the bed. Lifting his free hand, he gently wiped away the tears streaming from the corners of your eyes down your cheeks, "Hey, it's alright... You're safe now." He whispered, returning the soft squeeze to your hand.
As if aware of his presence, your eyes snapped open in alarm, and a whimper of fear escaped you as you saw him. For the first time in a long while, the general found no satisfaction in the fear reflected in someone's eyes. You gasped upon realising that the lifeline you were clinging to was him, noticing your hand in his.
"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" You cried harder when you realised your marks were still fully on display. Pulling your hand away from his, you grasped the sheets around you and clutched them close.
Despite the disappointment he felt at the absence of your hand, he didn't have time to dwell on it with your little panic attack. To ground you, he cupped your face with his hands, "Look at me," and you complied, your trembling eyes meeting his gaze, "Stop apologising and tell me what it is that you're sorry for."
"I-I'm sorry for all this," You gestured miserably to your own body, "I'm hideous. I'm tainted. I'm n-not good enough to be your wife, a-and I never will be. I-I don't deserve happiness... I was foolish to think I could find it h-here... with you."
Shaking his head, he caressed your hollow cheekbones, staring firmly into your eyes, "No, you listen to me. Never think that again. I forbid you from believing you're hideous or tainted or anything ridiculous like that. Whoever dares say you're not good enough to be my wife can go to hell because you're the only one I want. You deserve all the happiness in the world, and I will give you just that. You're not foolish to think that. I'll prove it to you."
Leaving you speechless, Seonghwa wrapped his arms around you before you could muster a response, pulling you close. The sudden warmth felt foreign but good, and you nestled your face into his broad shoulder, allowing yourself to relish the moment.
Am I dreaming? Feels too good to be true.
Marvelling at the luxurious interior of this beautiful room, you couldn't shake the feeling that this was all a product of your imagination. How could any of this be real?
The last memory you had was the general storming angrily into your room and ripping your hanbok open. After seeing you in your truest form, how could he have ended up acting this way towards you? It didn't make sense; he should have been disgusted and hostile. Instead, here he was, seemingly accepting you.
Exhausted from a lifetime of pain, you lacked the energy to question the reality of your situation. Even if it were just a dream, you decided to embrace it and savour the experience. On the other hand, if this was reality, you knew you had the rest of your life to understand his change of heart.
All that really mattered now was that the pain and the suffering stopped. If Seonghwa truly accepts you as his wife, the reason behind it doesn't seem important. You would simply be grateful for his kindness, or perhaps sympathy—whatever it was, you welcomed it wholeheartedly.
So long as there's no more pain.
With that decision made, you set aside the lingering questions in your mind and focused on how comforting it felt to be held in a warm embrace like this. A contented sigh escaped you as you whispered against him, "Thank you, my lord."
He responded by tightening his hold around your frame, gently cradling the back of your head with a hand, "No, don't thank me yet. I haven't done anything to deserve that from you. I've been horrible, the absolute worst. And for that, I'd like to apologise. I'm sorry, my dear. I promise you, I'll make up for it."
When you attempted to voice your protest, he halted you with a knowing shake of his head, "I know I may seem like an angel in comparison to the people who have... done all those horrendous things to you, but I won't lie and say that I'm proud of myself for the way I acted. You're important too, okay? You're the general's wife now, and I want you to remember that. I won't let anyone disrespect you again."
With a grateful nod, tears of relief welled up in your eyes. This transformed version of Seonghwa before you was a stark departure from the one you initially encountered. You didn't think he was capable of being so soft and caring, but you had no complaints; you could certainly get used to this.
"Oh, mistress! You're finally awake!" Eunsook exclaimed, standing at the room entrance with the physician in tow. This caused you and your husband to break eye contact. The general cleared his throat and averted his gaze, a faint blush tinting his cheeks when he realised the two had witnessed your shared intimate moment.
Yunho suppressed his smile and respectfully bowed at you, "Good day, Lady Park. I'm Physician Jung; it's nice to properly meet you." Blinking, you struggled to come up with a response, gaping at his handsome face.
While the elderly woman giggled at your loss of words, Seonghwa was less than amused at your reaction to the doctor's appearance. He scoffed lightly, finding it ridiculous that you were here gazing at another man after he had just poured his heart out to you.
How dare you be unfaithful this soon?
Upon catching the enticing scent of food, your eyes swiftly moved away from Yunho's face. Your face lit up as you finally noticed the bowl of piping hot congee in Eunsook's hands.
"Oh dear, you must be famished. With Physician Jung's help, we concocted this healthy meal for you. I know it's not very appetising, with all the medicinal herbs in it, but you must get better before indulging in tastier foods, alright?" She smiled encouragingly at you.
You shook your head as she approached with the bowl, "Not appetising? It already smells and looks better than anything I've ever had. Thank you for the food." You murmured, eagerly waiting as she fed you.
Unbeknownst to you, your innocent response had affected Seonghwa more than you realised, and it also surprised the physician. While Yunho had heard a bit about your situation from the head maid, he wasn't fully aware of the extent of it, and hearing it directly from you was truly heart-wrenching. That definitely explained the severe malnourishment.
The congee was gone within moments and Eunsook couldn't help but coo, "Well done, mistress." You bit your lip shyly, feeling embarrassed for devouring it in such an unladylike manner, but nothing mattered the moment the food touched your lips.
As if on cue, a group of servants arrived with a fresh set of clothes and bath supplies originally intended for you earlier in the morning. Turning toward the two men, the head maid bowed and gestured toward the door, "Master, Physician Jung, if you wouldn't mind stepping out. We shall bathe and change the mistress."
Yunho nodded, "Certainly, I'll be getting back to work then," and immediately excused himself, reassured to know you had finished your first sitting of medicine.
The general stood up from his spot, "Alright, Eunsook. I'll leave her to you for now. Take care of her for me." He said, moving to press a soft kiss onto your forehead. The action caused your eyes to widen, and all the servants internally squealed, shocked to see their master being so affectionate for the first time.
Your heart swelled as you watched him leave, his back suddenly seeming so reliable. It was hard to believe that he was your husband, yours. How lucky were you to be wedded to Park Seonghwa?
"Come, mistress. Let's get you cleaned up."
You observed with intrigue as the servants rushed around to prepare a bath for you, an experience you had never had before. However, as they began to assist in stripping off your clothes, you realised you had forgotten all about the marks on your skin earlier. Suddenly feeling self-conscious, you pushed the hands of the servants away and shook your head.
Reassuring you, they withdrew their hands with warm smiles, "It's okay, mistress. Please know we are all on your side; nobody here will disrespect or look down on you. You are now the official wife of General Park, and we will work our hardest to serve you."
The head maid nodded in agreement behind them, their sincerity deeply touching your heart, "Thank you for your kindness." You whispered, finally allowing them to help you out of your hanbok. They handled you with gentleness, and it took you some time to get used to it—finally not being manhandled like you always had been.
After they finished scrubbing you clean, the other maids momentarily left you alone to enjoy the bath, touched by your endearing demeanour—constantly expressing gratitude for every little thing. To them, it felt almost like caring for a child. Exchanging excited glances, none of them could hide their pleasure in having such a sweet mistress.
With your presence, perhaps the general's anger could finally subside, and the estate could experience some peaceful days. If only you knew the hope you had brought with your arrival.
Eunsook lingered in the background, cleaning and tidying up, while you played with the rose petals floating around the bath water. You couldn't recall the last time your life had been so relaxing, so peaceful. Turning to the elderly woman working nearby, you gathered the courage to ask, "This... this isn't a dream, is it?"
Setting down her supplies, she approached you with a motherly smile on her face, "I assure you, mistress, it is not. This is all very real. Perhaps the master's sudden shift in behaviour can be confusing."
She gently held onto your hand, "Trust me, he is actually not such a bad person at all. There's a good reason why all the servants here have been with him for a long time. Though he believes it is simply because of the good pay, it isn't. He just... has a hard time trying to express his feelings. Let's just say master did not exactly grow up living an easy life. He struggles to show his love because he has not been given nearly enough of it while growing up."
That sounds a little like me too.
Giving your hand a soft squeeze, she added, "And now, with you here, it seems we can all hope that things will change for the better, for master and for you, mistress."
"M-me? Better because of... me?" You whispered, returning the squeeze, and she nodded, "Yes, mistress. All because of you. You are our light and our hope. Thank you for coming to us. You're so important to everyone here, you know that? Never let anyone tell you otherwise."
You didn't realise you were crying until you felt a gentle touch as the elderly woman wiped away the tears rolling down your cheeks, assuring you, "No matter what happens, I promise you won't be alone anymore from now on."
Standing in the centre of the room later on, it almost felt like a dream come true as the servants attentively assisted you in getting dressed. For once, you felt genuinely cared for and respected, a stark contrast to your previous experiences at home, where most servants treated you as less than human.
Turning to face the mirror, a gasp escaped you as you gazed at your reflection, "You look beautiful, mistress. Master is going to love it." A servant exclaimed, admiring your natural beauty. Your eyes widened as you took in the pleasant appearance before you, surprised that despite the visibility of your scars, you could look appealing. It appeared that with proper care, hair, and clothing, you could indeed appear somewhat pretty.
I guess all hope is not lost.
"We'll be taking our leave now, mistress." The rest of the maids bowed in a line before you as they finished up. Panic crossed their faces when they saw you about to return their bows, and Eunsook stopped you in time, saying, "Oh dear, mistress! We'll have to work on that. Please remember you do not have to bow to any of the servants here, or anywhere, for the matter."
You nodded, "I'm sorry, I'll remember that next time."
She chuckled and shook her head, "That too, you do not need to apologise to us. We are here to serve you." The maids nodded to signal that the elderly woman was right, smiling encouragingly at you before bowing one last time and leaving to return to their other tasks.
"Now, there's still a bit more time before dinner. What would you like to do until then, mistress?" The head maid asked.
You blinked, realising you didn't know how to answer. You never had the luxury to do as you pleased; all your supposed spare time was spent rotting in your prison cell of a room. What did your stepsisters usually do? Right, make your life hell. That's what.
What do young ladies around your age do?
Suddenly remembering Eunsook's earlier words about having to work on what you should and shouldn't do, you perked up, "I... I wish to learn. I want to be a proper lady, to be a proper wife for the general."
You stared, puzzled, as the elderly woman tried to hide her cheeky grin, "Well, the master's study is full of all sorts of knowledgeable books. Maybe you can find something in there. Would you like to go there now, mistress?"
Finding nothing wrong with the suggestion, you agreed. The next thing you knew, you were left standing alone by the entrance to the study she had been talking about. She had explained that she needed to assist the physician with an important task before hastily disappearing.
Not wanting to be impolite, you knocked on the door and waited for a response, "May I please enter, my lord?" After a moment of silence, you knocked again, only to be met with silence.
Maybe he's not inside.
With a shrug, you cautiously pushed the door open. Your eyes widened when you immediately spotted Seonghwa seated at his desk, deeply engrossed in his reading with a slight furrow of his brows. Despite planning to leave, you found yourself rooted to the spot, admiring how attractive he looked, even when only sitting there.
As if sensing someone watching him, his eyes immediately shot up in alert, only to soften when he realised it was you. Caught off guard, you sputtered and bowed repeatedly, "I-I'm sorry, my lord! I didn't mean to spy on you or anything like that. Eunsook told me I could occupy myself with some books in here until dinner, and I—"
Too busy staring down at your feet, you didn't notice he had been making his way towards you. You gasped when his shoes came into view, looking up to find him right in front of you with a gentle smile on his face, "Relax, I'm not angry. You're welcome to spend time with me; I'd be happy to accompany you."
Looking at you closely now, his heart raced as he realised how stunning you appeared in this natural state, even more so than with a face full of heavy makeup, "You... you look beautiful, by the way." He remarked, watching with admiration as a blush tinted your cheeks when you quietly thanked him.
As you bit your lips shyly, he found it hard to look away, feeling a desire to kiss you that he had never experienced with any woman before, "M-my lord?" You stuttered, feeling flustered by the sudden attention he was paying to your lips.
With a hand outstretched, he cleared his throat and gestured for you to join him, "R-right, let me know what you're looking for. This is no royal library, but I'm sure I'll have whatever you need."
You gulped, shyly placing your hand in his waiting one, "I was hoping to learn more about lady etiquette. I... I want to be a proper lady and wife for you, my lord." His heart melted at that; despite the less-than-warm welcome he had given you, you were still willing to work hard and be better for him.
"Very well, come with me." Tightening his hold on your hand, he gently led you towards the bookshelves lining the side of his study.
As you passed by his desk, you couldn't help but do a double take at the reading material he had been so focused on just earlier. You'd recognise the Jang family crest anywhere.
"Wait, isn't that—"
Before you could inquire about it, Seonghwa was already in the process of tidying up the space and simultaneously putting the book away, "Sorry for the mess. Now, which area of lady etiquette did you want to start with first?" He asked, gesturing to the entire row of books dedicated to the topic.
"O-oh, I haven't really thought about that. I wasn't aware there were so many different areas. Gosh, I have much to learn..." You trailed off, your mind already reeling as you tried to figure out which area would be best to begin with.
He sighed in relief, successfully redirecting the conversation. His heart nearly stopped when he spotted the recognition in your eyes upon seeing your family records. The general didn't want to have to interview you in order to delve into your past; he didn't want you to relive any nightmares. More importantly, he didn't want to worry you by revealing any of the plans he had in store for your family.
« Preview of Part 6 »
Jongho entered his master's study that night, panting and puzzled to find the desk filled with books on... lady etiquette?
"S-sir?"
Seonghwa snapped up immediately, catching the assistant's appalled gaze on your books. He chuckled, "Oh, those are just your mistress' books. She said she wants to learn to be a proper lady and wife... can you believe that?"
Without himself noticing, the general had an almost dreamy look on his face as he smiled, lost in thoughts of you, unaware that he was letting it show on his face, revealing his affection for you.
"I see. I'm sure the mistress will no doubt make you proud with her studies soon." Jongho responded with a knowing grin, pleased to see his master being soft for a change, the intimidating General Park momentarily gone, all because of his wife.
Recalling his aide's purpose for being here this late, Seonghwa quickly turned serious, "Well, have you managed to find anything?"
The assistant immediately straightened up, moving closer to the general and lowering his voice, "I have, sir. With the funds you provided, I hired a private investigator willing to infiltrate the Jang estate. Fortunately, one of the older servants didn't take much to crack; she told him just about everything."
With a clenched fist, your husband asked for confirmation, "Well? Was it her father?"
Nodding, Jongho's expression turned grim, "It was as you assumed, sir. It was him, his wife, his stepdaughters, and even the servants. But there's... more. We've uncovered new information, the minister... he truly is despicable."

Father of the Bride
Hakoda swallowed hard against a lump in his throat. He had imagined this day so many times since Katara's birth. The details were different, though. She wasn't marrying a proven warrior from among their people. That was fine. She had spent so much time traveling the world, expanding her horizons, creating her own paths. Hakoda didn't think there were one in a thousand men at home who could keep up with the woman his daughter had become, and he had resigned himself to the fact that she might not end up with a Southern Tribe man years ago.
But he hadn't considered that her marriage might take her so permanently from home. A foolish oversight on his part, he admitted. And at least she would have the means to visit her family a few times a year. Still, he felt a pang. Same one he felt when he left his children behind with Kanna to go fight a war too big for him. Now that pang was tempered with bittersweet happiness as he watched the final preparations being made on Katara's wedding gown-a stunning piece of art even to Hakoda's untrained eye. All silks and linens in shades of blue and silver that recalled the bridal outfits of her homeland. Furs and leathers would be too hot for the climate, but Katara wanted to tell everyone up front how she would bring her own culture to merge with her new people. Her groom-to-be not only supported this decision, but had come to Hakoda and Sokka to ask them how he, too, could incorporate the Southern Water Tribe into the wedding on his end. That had been a long night, with strong drinks and stronger emotions, but at the end of it, Hakoda had decided that despite his initial misgivings about the marriage, he couldn't have picked a better son-in-law than Zuko.
Fire Lord Zuko. Fire Lord Zuko was going to be his son-in-law. Sometimes the thought made Hakoda chuckle. Sometimes it sent a chill down his spine. Not that he was worried about Zuko himself, but Katara's proximity to his throne. The crown. She would be coronated the next night in a ceremony as lavish as the wedding. She would become the Fire Lady. Co-ruler of the country that had spent a hundred years ruining countless lives with a war over something as silly as imperialist pride. Hakoda didn't think they deserved his daughter. If Zuko had earned his trust and respect, the rest of the Fire Nation certainly haven't. Not the nobles, anyway. When he brought them up to Katara, she laughed, though it didn't reach her eyes, which were flint hard and grimly determined. She told him no matter where she went in the world, she would have to fight for any respect she got. At least here she would have Zuko fighting beside her. Hakoda wasn't sure he agreed that was a worthy trade off, but he knew better than to try to talk his daughter out of it.
The Fire Nation had already benefited from her presence. As a foreign advisor, she had fostered trade and exchange agreements between the Fire Nation and all of the Water Tribes, Omashu and Gaoling. As an ambassador, she'd helped negotiate reparation packages that have helped the parts of the world hit hardest by the war recover. As one of Zuko's most trusted counselors, she'd helped him work the Fire Nation's budget so the government could provide for education, health and services for returning soldiers. The same kinds of programs she'd helped Hakoda and Sokka build in the Southern Water Tribe. It suddenly struck Hakoda that she had been acting as Fire Lady for a long time. Before she and Zuko had even realized they were in love, maybe. Today and tomorrow would just make it official. Hakoda still didn't think the Fire Nation deserved a Katara, but any chance he had of talking her out of it had long since slipped by him. And he now he wasn't sure he would talk her out of it, even if he did have the chance.
The final touches were done. The maids stepped back in a flurry of excited chatter. Kanna stepped forward, moving stiffly in her old age, smiling up at her granddaughter through tears. She had had this moment with Kya years ago, and Kya should be standing in her place now. Kanna reached out and ran her fingertips over the necklace she had passed to her daughter, and her daughter had passed on to Katara. Kya was here, Kanna assured herself. And Kya would be here with Katara as she made these next steps, first as a wife, then as a queen, then someday as a mother and grandmother herself.
"She would be so proud," Kanna told Katara. The two women embraced. Then Katara stood up, head high and looking as regal as any queen in any nation ever had, and turned to Hakoda.
"Are you ready, Dad?" she asked. Hakoda shook his head.
"I was never going to be ready for this," he confessed. "But it doesn't matter. You are ready."

genre: fluff, does comedy count if it’s kind of funny

“I dinnae understand.”
Gaz shakes his head and sighed. “She’s on her period and needs pads, what is there not to understand, Soap?”
Exasperated and confused, Soap picked up two random boxes of pads. “Aye! But I don’t ken what any of this fucking shite means. What’s the difference between a regular one and one tha’ isn’t?” Soap looked back to the shelf. “And why do those ones say 1 or 3??”
Gaz opened his mouth before closing it again. “That’s actually a good question—I don’t understand the numbers either.”
Pushing the shopping cart into the isle Gaz and Soap were in, Price made his way towards them with Ghost following behind. Price frowned when he saw Gaz and Soap with as many boxes as they could hold in their arms. “Surely our lady doesn’t need that many? All from different brands too?”
“Cap, do ye ken the difference between a pad tha’ is 1 and a pad tha’s 3?” Soap asks.
Price blinked. “Fuck you just say?”
Gaz nodded. “Then we’ll be buying everything for our lass.”
Ghost tilted his head at the load of pads that Gaz and Soap dropped into the cart beside all the food and snacks they were buying for you. “Maybe it’s a size thing? How big the pad is? ‘Cause this one has pictures of different sizes shown on its box.”
Soap had his hands on his hips while he glanced at the cart then to Simon. “Sizes for wha’ though? The size of someone’s cun-”
Gaz smacked Soap on the back of his head before he could finish. Simon narrowed his eyes at Soap, questioning the Scot’s thought process while Price shook his head and sighed.
“Kay, lads, let’s pay and get back to our woman.” Price said, pushing the cart out the aisle with the rest of the men following in suit—though Gaz and Ghost annoyed Soap endlessly about his stupid question.
Ghost eyed Soap judgmentally. “Why the fuck would there be sizes for someone’s cunt labeled on the box? A pussy is not a clothing item.”
Soap glared at Gaz who was laughing. “How am I s’pose to ken what the numbers are fer? Everyone’s different, aye? Maybe there’s sizes?? I dinnae fucking know!”
Price stopped walking abruptly and pinched his nose. “Fucking muppets.”

Lying comfortably on your bed with a heating pad resting on your abdomen, your head turns towards the door of your room opening.
“Alright, love?” Price asked with an affectionate smile on his face, carrying grocery bags with the rest of your boys behind him.
Eyes softening, you beckoned them closer. “Yes, though I didn’t hear you guys come in.”
“We bought you some pads. Thought maybe you might need some more.” Gaz said.
Simon sat on the edge closest to you to stroke your face but raised a brow at Gaz’s words. “Not even just ‘some’—Soap and Gaz damn near bought the whole fucking isle of pads. There’s a shit more bags still in the boot.”
“Aye but ain’t it better to be prepared?” Soap crossed his arms.
“Yeah, but prepared for what? Menstruation ain’t a war.” Simon drawled.
Soap shook his head grimly. “But the bloodshed.”
Looking back and forth at Soap and Simon bickering, you laughed quietly at their antics before yawning. Gaz, who lied beside you, reached for your hand to kiss it lovingly as Price on the other hand interrogated Soap about his knowledge.
Closing your eyes, you start to fall asleep to the sounds of bickering and the occasional touches from Simon and Gaz.
“Ye think our bonnie needs backup?”
“Shut it.”

meeting the 141 boys for the first time
these are cute individual scenarios that show how i think the reader would meet the boys!!

GHOST
the first time you lay eyes on him would be in your new apartment complex. you would have been left to move your furniture all by yourself after your brothers, ever the immature dorks they were, ditched you to participate in some influencer's video who had been looking for volunteers in your area. "this is a once in a lifetime opportunity that will never happen again." they had told you grimly, before driving off and leaving you stranded with all your new furniture in front of the tall building.
it was early in the morning, the lights in the hallway shining in his eyes just a bit too harshly as simon exited his apartment. he was preparing to leave to pick up some groceries, having just ran out of his toothpaste. he grumbled, feeling a bad mood start to settle in him from the various inconveniences that had already managed to arise in his day.
that's when he saw you. his new next door neighbor, who was apparently in the process of transporting a large shelf towards their open door all by themselves. the size of the furniture compared to you was almost comical, and your effort in moving the heavy object showed in every laborious step. it was a ridiculous sight to see, and he couldn't help the snort that he let out. upon hearing the noise, you turn your head to look at him.
"hey, there." you call out to him with a weary smile. "mind giving a neighbor a hand?"
he has some time to spare, he decides, moving to easily pick up the end of the shelf that was dragging miserably on the floor. you peek your head out the side of the shelf to shoot him a toothy grin, quickly thanking him for his aid.
PRICE
you would first see john at a bar, where you were celebrating one of your friends' birthdays. the topic had shifted over to you, after you had reported that the blind date they set you up on the previous night had again went abhorrently. they defended themselves playfully, giggling about "how they were not going to let to you die alone, no matter what it takes."
you mournfully swirled the drink in your glass, shooting them all a lighthearted glare at their remark. you sighed, laying your chin on your hand as you took a moment to gaze around the bar. it was packed, as usual, full of laughter and music.
as your eyes skimmed over the room, they finally landed on a man who was sat at the bar, already peering at you. he was sporting a fleece lined coat with a beanie, beard trimmed neatly and in a way that complimented his features. he was undeniably attractive, exemplified by the way he shot you a charming smile and tilted his glass towards you in acknowledgement.
you gulped, suddenly feeling shy, and turned back towards your group. your friends, having witnessed the whole ordeal, shot you knowing looks, immediately egging you on to go talk to him! with laughter and playful pushes at your shoulder.
after an embarrassing moment of encouragement from your friends, you stood up, liquid courage burning in your veins. you moved over to his position, weaving through the people in your path. he smiled warmly to welcome you as you slid into the empty seat in front of him.
"hey." you started, giving him a sheepish grin.
GAZ
you met gaz on the street of a shopping plaza, an impressive amount of shopping bags grasped in your hands. they were all gifts for your younger cousins and other distant relatives, after your parents had reminded you sternly that you needed to get them each something for the holidays.
kyle was having himself a smoke, trying to get his mind off of his previous week. he was trying to stop for good, but this was the kind of day that just required a cigarette. the consequences of him and his task forces' actions, the gravity of them, was weighing especially heavily on his shoulders today.
all of a sudden, he heard a yelp, then the thud of multiple objects hitting on the floor. he glanced over to see you holding a now ripped open paper bag among your other shopping bags, with a multitude of small toys and figurines at your feet.
you were near tears in that moment, already fed up from the pressure of your parents now added with the embarrassment that came from the combination of laughter and pitiful glances passerbys shot your way. you crouched down and began picking the figurines up, reminding yourself gingerly in your head to take deep breaths.
pity instinctively squeezed his chest at the sight, your pretty eyes peering down at the toys dejectedly. kyle moved immediately, tossing his cigarette and squatting down, picking up the objects beside you. he gave you a sweet and reassuring smile, "bad day too, huh?"
"any chance i could buy you a drink to wipe that frown off your face?" he continued, standing back up with you. you can't help the genuine smile that stretches across your face at his proposal, your first smile of the day, shyly nodding with a small sniffle.
SOAP
you first came into contact with johnny at a fair in your town. the two friends you had came with left to ride one of the fair's intense rides, but you decided to stay behind to give your stomach a break from all the rides you all went on previously. tired of waiting on a bench for your companions, you decided to get up and browse the games the fair had to offer.
eventually, you come across a balloon popping game, which had the participants competing against each other to pop as many balloons as they could with mock rifles. you smile confidently as you walked over, recalling winning this game plenty of times in the past.
alright, a little competition can't hurt, you decide, making a show of cracking your knuckles and rolling your shoulders. the man beside you lets out a hearty laugh at your display, and you turn to face your opponent.
he was a tall man with a muscular build, a messily styled mohawk, and blue eyes that shined with a mischievous glint. he winked at you, meeting your gaze, "good luck. let's have some fun, yeah?"
"yeah, you'll need it." you retorted back playfully.
the game started, and you immediately took to shooting with your gun. to your surprise, most of the balloons on his side were promptly eliminated in quick succession and with pinpoint accuracy. you nervously shifted your attention back to your side of the game, where you managed to pop a mere six balloons, which was actually pretty damn good in your opinion.
your eye twitched slightly as you glanced back over to him, your ego bruised a bit. he shoots you a smug grin as he chose his prize; a giant stuffed german shepherd. he saunters over to you, gently booping your nose with the snout of the toy, before walking away. what the hell...

The mistakes of a Acolyte
4
Chapters
Summary: You are pregnant with Qimir's child and the universe is not big enough to hide you from him.
Tumblr media
There was an embarrassed silence for a few minutes before Sol decided to clear his throat.
"I understand the fear, but this time we'll be more prepared, we won't let him even touch you" I looked at him unsure, I didn't know what was worse, if I brought them there and he was there... even hiding my belly, being seen with the Jedi would be a death sentence, or he could speak out of turn and get me arrested while he escaped, the possibilities were endless and each worse than the other.
"Excuse me, I need... to wash my face" my hands trembled as I tried to get up, Yord beside me stood up worried before offering me a hand which I quickly took, with a nod he pointed me to the bathroom and I hurried there.
The door opened automatically and I rushed inside, closing the door behind me, the sterile light illuminating the small room burned my eyes.
When I rubbed them, I realized the problem, unshed tears filled my lashes, the burning sensation I was starting to feel was the familiar one of crying.
I turned off the light and turned on the smaller, dimmer one above the mirror, in the dark I took a few deep breaths, hands resting on the rectangular sink before placing one on my belly and gently rubbing it.
The dark atmosphere calmed my nerves and fortunately, I managed to hold back the tears, turning on the water I washed my face with my still trembling hands, my shadowed reflection in the mirror was terrible, like the night before, it was written on all my features how bad I felt, the almost sickly purple bags under my eyes, the reddened irises, a disaster that seemed only to worsen.
As I took more breaths, I realized there was talking in the background happening a few meters from me, I could hear them discussing even with the door closed, especially Yord who seemed to have a particularly loud tone.
I pressed my ear to the door to better understand what they were talking about.
"I'm just saying we could try another way" the rhythmic sound I heard was probably his nervous footsteps, I could imagine him pacing back and forth nervously. "I don't like doing this either, but it's our best way," Jecki replied calmly. "We can get an approximate direction and go—" "With the risk of being discovered?" Sol interrupted her.
"And if he's really there? Maybe waiting for us. He'll assume we've rummaged through his things and found his partner" Jecki speculated. "Ex-partner" Yord immediately intervened afterward.
There was a few seconds of silence, I could imagine them looking at each other grimly. "He could be waiting for us with traps, or see us coming and escape while we search for the way, in the best-case scenario he'll be there to retrieve the last things before disappearing, we must seize the opportunity while it's available. He was injured the last time we clashed but I doubt it will slow him down, we must keep up" more muffled sounds followed, and some words I didn't quite catch as they continued to speak in a more controlled tone.
"We should at least give her time to process and understand if she wants to—" Yord's tone was irritated, you could hear it a mile away, but again Jecki intervened. "We must act now. We can help calm her nerves, but we need her and now."
I pressed my forehead against the metal door, weakly rubbing my eyes, I took a deep breath.
I had to think clearly, now more than ever I was caught between two fires ready to explode in my face, what was happening to me? What was I doing? How many times had I already said the wrong thing without even realizing it?
Was this farce I was carrying on the problem?
Had I become too weak?
Had these months of calm made me more docile or was it just me wanting to be? After all, it had already happened many years before.
Sure.
It had already happened.
When everything around you is a lie, you adapt to it, believe you are part of it, accept it, and carry on that fairytale.
I was doing it again, I had adapted to that desire that had started growing in my chest.
To be a normal person, a mother, a civilian like everyone else.
But I had never been that.
I had never been a victim.
Even what Qimir did to me. I let him do it, because deep down, it was what I wanted.
To feel loved regardless of the consequences, of how it would present itself and how I would live it.
I knew what I had to do.
I left the bathroom after washing my face again.
Immediately everyone turned to me, so I gave an encouraging smile. "Sorry, I needed a moment to think. I'll do it... I just ask that you keep me informed of the plan, if something goes wrong I want to understand it. Especially to escape the danger if it arises" I announced with a deep breath.
The reactions I received were different, it was obvious that Yord was not happy about it, Jecki nodded impassively, but Sol was clearly happy with my choice.
"Certainly, we'll organize the plan this afternoon and let you know when we've decided" Sol replied. I nodded before taking a few steps forward. "If it's not a problem, I'd like to go home, especially if we have to leave early, maybe put some clothes in a bag, or retrieve my old blaster." The three nodded. "If all goes well, you'll be away from home for a maximum of one day, but it's right to prevent, thank you again" Sol replied with a slight bow that I returned.
"Wait, I'll accompany you" Yord offered me an arm which I took with a smile. "Thank you"
We left the ship at a slower pace, the city was fully awake by now, the streets were full of busy civilians, but they seemed to easily step aside as we passed, whether to help a pregnant woman or for fear of the Jedi I couldn't tell.
"You're not obligated if you don't want to" Yord suddenly said, I looked at him with a small smile on my lips, he was deliberately avoiding my gaze, walking with a rigid posture, eyes fixed ahead of him.
"It's okay Yord. I want to end this story. Maybe for real this time" the only response I received was a snort from his nose, it was a rather amusing reaction despite everything, although I didn't understand the reason, sure Sol and Jecki were also worried, but he seemed on another planet.
"How sweet, you're worried" I intoned teasingly as I slightly squeezed his arm, the muscle contracting under my fingers.
"Of course I am. We are putting a pregnant woman in danger, I know you're not inexperienced, but we're Jedi, we should protect you, not ask you to be on the front line" I exhaled a snort of amusement. "Well, I have my Jedi knight to protect me, don't I?" I gave him a playful smile, but I could clearly see a slight dark blush on his cheeks.
When we reached my building he accompanied me to the door of my apartment where I let go of his arm.
"See you then?" he nodded before crossing his hands behind his back in a rigid posture. "We'll contact you as soon as we're organized, I'd tell you to bring something you need so maybe prepare a bag, but I don't think we'll contact you before evening. So rest" rummaging in his pockets he handed me a small comlink which I put in my pocket.
"See you later"
I closed the door behind me, the comlink left on the kitchen table as I quickly headed to the bedroom.
I had to do things right if I wanted to get out clean, to kriff with the Jedi, Qimir, and this shitty life I had tried to get into, peace had never existed, all the notions that had been taught to me were dictated by hypocrisy, but I had come out of it and I would come out of it this time too.
Rummaging through the closet, I took a loose shirt to put on, took off my shoes for comfort, and quickly tied my hair in a messy bun on my head.
Sure, if he didn't answer... but at that point, I didn't care, I would make another plan and another until I freed myself from the problem.
I sat cross-legged in the middle of the bed, the shutters were still down leaving the room dimly lit, I took deep breaths before closing my eyes, hands resting on my legs.
Over the years Qimir and I had developed a direct bond in the force, which had helped us on many occasions, the more time passed the easier it was for us to use it and outside it was almost impossible to perceive us. In recent months Qimir had repeatedly tried to call me through the force, I had closed the bond as soon as I escaped into hyperspace, the first days were a nightmare, he tried to contact me in every way, dozens of times a day, forcefully. It was obvious he was furious, he immediately realized something was wrong, he was more the type to disappear without saying anything, I wasn't. I would have warned him, I would have told him what I had to do, when I would return, anything, I was paranoid by nature and Qimir was a companion, so it seemed logical to tell him everything.
Even when I had to keep a low profile, I found a way to warn him of the problem, that day 5 months earlier, however, was particularly calm, we weren't doing anything special, so when I took my things and left it took him less than 12 hours to realize something was wrong.
The first calls were calm but insistent, when he realized I didn't intend to answer him, he got furious.
It was absurd how, despite being equals, his presence made me uncomfortable. It was a change I hadn't perceived. It took me five months to realize that what was happening was wrong.
And now I had to reactivate the bond.
And talk to him.
The last time he thought it was a dream, and he still managed to hurt me. I couldn't let him terrify me.
I tried several times, taking deep breaths, trying to reach him through the Force, but between the back pain and the nerves, I could barely concentrate.
I needed to relax, to find his familiar signature.
I lay on my side and closed my eyes again. I had to find Qimir, I had to remember his presence. The night before, we had connected in a dream, more out of visceral instinct, probably. I had emptied my mind of him, had forced myself to forget him, but the arrival of the Jedi had awakened everything, and it would have been hypocritical to deny the truth.
I was worried about him.
Where he was, if he was hurt, if he felt lonely... because of me.
My heart tightened in my chest. A tear rolled down my cheek, but I wiped it away with my sleeve. I hugged one of the pillows to my chest, seeking comfort, rubbing my face against the soft fabric.
The truth was that I missed Qimir terribly.
No matter how much I lied to myself, there was a void in my heart that only he had filled. He would have been so happy to know about this child, would have been by my side, worried about my well-being, massaging my back, and cooking my favorite dishes every day.
I loved him.
And he loved me.
But... the dark side of him wasn't just due to what he had gone through. There was something more visceral, possessive, violent... something that he took out on me.
I thought we were on the same page, that we were equals. But he didn't see it the same way.
I tried again, my arms tightening around the pillow. I tried to imagine him there with me, his delicate yet strong scent, reminiscent of a rain-soaked forest, the warmth of his body, the defined muscles, the numerous scars felt under my fingertips, his soft lips on my forehead... and it was then that I felt him.
It was like seeing a house with an open door from afar. He hadn't noticed that I was searching for him, trying to reach him, but he had left the door open, waiting for me.
And that's how I reached him. The darkness behind my closed eyes was soon illuminated by a cold blue light. I rubbed my eyes from the discomfort before realizing I had made it. My physical form had projected through the Force near Qimir.
I immediately recognized the place, the one I had hinted at to the Jedi. I immediately knew I was right. He had returned here, perhaps for the map, perhaps just to hide.
Looking quickly around, I noticed nothing different from usual. In fact, nothing seemed to have changed at all. It was an old stone room we had turned into our bedroom, although at first glance, it looked more like a storage room. Scrolls, books, devices of all kinds were placed in every corner, on the floor, under or on top of furniture. The windows, usually covered with rudimentary curtains we had hung, were now open, showing the night sky outside.
Walking towards the back of the room, I noticed a backpack carelessly placed on the floor, his clothes haphazardly thrown nearby, and then I spotted some bloodstains but ignored them. I knew who he had fought with, and I remembered Sol and Yord talking about an injury.
And finally, there he was, lying on an old double mattress against the wall at the back, pillows and blankets messily strewn on top, surrounding his sleeping body. A small bandage wrapped around his arm, but apart from that, he seemed fine. He had his back to me, sleeping deeply, his hair tousled on the pillow. I wanted to approach him while he was still asleep, to watch him while he was still peaceful, but I couldn't risk it.
So I did what I had come for.
I approached the small table next to the bed where he kept a flask of some foul-smelling drink and began to hit the metal surface with an open hand, once, twice, three times until Qimir woke up, pulled the lightsaber to him, and ignited it in my direction, terribly confused even as he tried to stand.
"I leave you alone for a few months, and this is the result?" I started, approaching the bed with a flat tone.
I had to be confident. I had dressed specifically to hide the curves of my pregnancy. If I showed any hesitation, he would realize I was hiding much more than I was letting on.
The surprise on his face was almost endearing, his eyes wide and still a bit clouded by alcohol. It took him a few seconds of silence to fully register what was happening.
"Sabrina..." he began to get up from the bed, but I stopped him with a gesture of my hand.
"Let's skip the pleasantries. You're in deep shit" He slowly sat back down on the mattress before deactivating the lightsaber, suspicion clear in his gaze.
"What are you doing here? You disappear for months and then come back to do what exactly?" There was acidity in his tone. This wasn't the dream he thought he was having. He didn't know I was really pregnant, and he didn't see me crying or sad. This probably wasn't the kind of reunion he hoped for. It was just me, waking him rudely and treating him with indifference.
"I've come to warn you. The Jedi know where you're hiding and will be here soon" The surprise and then the confusion were clear in his features. He opened his mouth to speak, but I didn't let him start. "The idiot you were dragging along talked, but I guess you suspected that already. They found... our photo" I added the last part with a frustrated sigh.
"Wait, they found you? Were you captured?" He jumped up, reaching out a hand toward me, but I stepped back a few paces.
"No. I convinced them I was an unaware colleague of yours. But they knew too much, and I had to say some things"
The more details I added, the more confused he seemed. He tilted his head in that cute way I often teased him about, and I held back a smile. It wasn't the right time.
"I'll have to bring them here. We'll probably arrive in less than two days, maybe even sooner. So pack the most important things and hide them on the ship, especially all the Sith artifacts. I don't want those dogs touching or, worse, destroying everything we've recovered..." Without realizing it, I started pacing back and forth in front of him, lost in my thoughts. It was true that many of the things were scattered across the various hideouts we had, but what we wanted to study and analyze, we kept within reach.
Needless to say, between things to do, other... hobbies, and the undeniable laziness of both of us, a lot of things had accumulated here too.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when Qimir suddenly grabbed my wrist. I turned quickly, my heart pounding in my chest, mentally cursing myself for letting my guard down so easily. I shouldn't have let him get too close. Yet in his gaze, I read none of the emotions that made my knees tremble. He looked at me with an unreadable expression.
"Are you okay? How did you reach me without getting caught?" I exhaled deeply before yanking my wrist away from his warm hand. I was sure he noticed my accelerated heartbeat, but it wasn't unusual given the situation we were in.
"Yes. I'm... in a hotel I rented. They left me alone to decide a plan. I hoped to contact you after knowing it, but I doubt I'll have time. We need to think carefully about what to do next." I cleared my throat before sighing. "If you just want to leave before they arrive, I understand. But make sure not to leave any traces. I told that Jedi about our map. If they don't find it, you'll have time to hide and heal," I continued, nodding towards his arm. He shrugged in response, making an irritated grimace. "I'm fine. It's nothing."
"And you? They know about us now. Do you really think they'll let you go?" he continued. I gave him a half-arrogant smile. "I was very convincing in my story. They think I'm just a former colleague and lover. They actually want to protect me from you" I said mockingly, but instead of smiling as I hoped, he lost every ounce of lightness he had. The rigid posture of his back and the darkening gaze made my toes numb from how tightly I was keeping them to avoid stepping back.
"A hotel? Is that what you've been doing for five months? Wandering the galaxy doing what? You left without telling me anything, cutting me off from the bond, and now you reappear, warning me about the Jedi" he began to slowly step towards me with a gloomy look. The anxiety gnawed at my stomach, but I had to keep the façade.
Attack was the best defense, after all.
"And you? I leave for a while, and you find an acolyte, get caught by the Order, and then what?" He stopped mid-step, fists clenched at his sides. I could see how tightly he was keeping his arms contracted. It was obvious he was furious, but my words had hit him at least a little.
"I was looking for you. But I didn't want to let the Jedi go. At one point, I even thought they had taken you, that you had run away to keep me safe... but it seems I was wrong" the last sentence was almost growled, as I raised my arm towards him and instinctively grabbed his wrist, pulling him towards me. With my other hand, I grasped the t-shirt he used for sleeping, forcing him to bend down to my eye level.
The unexpected movement left him silent as he looked back at me, confused.
"I feel like I've always been honest with you all these years. I've always told you everything. I've included you in my personal and non-personal life. For once when I needed my own space, you're angry? And how should I feel?" Both of us were short of breath, our gazes hard, too many things left unsaid, or at least, I was hiding everything from him and continued to lie to his face, since we were friends, an unspoken rule was that I was always honest with him, not because he asked me or some code imposed it on me, but because if there was something my past experiences had taught me, keeping secrets only led to disasters.
But this was different. I had to lie.
I pushed him away from me and he didn't resist. "I'm trying to help you in case you hadn't noticed."
Qimir snorted before crossing his arms over his chest. The muscles in his arms bulged with the movement. Had he become even bigger while I was away? I mentally pinched myself at the thought. It was really the wrong time to fantasize about those arms.
"I have no intention of leaving you alone with the Jedi. Maybe you've tricked them for now, but it's obvious they won't let this go so easily. If they decide to report this to the higher-ups, sooner or later someone will recognize you. And you don't know when or how. I'm staying. And I'm taking you with me," I swore I heard his voice grow huskier towards the end, but I ignored the shiver down my spine and cleared my throat.
"I know. But we have to keep up this facade until the end. At least as an emergency plan"
The silence that followed was tense, almost suffocating. I rubbed my eyes tiredly, and swore I saw him lean towards me for a second before dropping his hands to his hips again, probably bitter and disheartened by how this conversation was going.
"I could pretend to kidnap you" he hypothesized. "You said you're playing the victim, right? Tell me what you told them and maybe I could-"
"No. We want them to leave us alone, not to pursue us more aggressively" it was obvious things would only get worse if we pretended a kidnapping. They were bringing me there, pregnant, by that time they would have felt responsible and there would have been chances that they would call the council. "We have to make sure you slip from under their noses. They mustn't realize you knew about their arrival. But... you could hurt me" an idea finally flashed through my mind. "Of course, they don't know about my Force abilities, you have to attack me-" I began to pace the room as a plan formed in my mind. "No, wait, I don't want to hurt you—" "—as if you could" I interrupted with a mocking tone.
Maybe it was the fact that we weren't really in the same room, maybe it was the months apart, but I felt much less uncomfortable now in his presence, and having the upper hand gave me more confidence. Sure, Qimir wasn't stupid, but I had the advantage. And I needed to get rid of him like the Jedi.
"I told them we were engaged and that I ran away when I realized you were dangerous—" he rolled his eyes before making an irritated grimace "—we can pretend I betrayed you, you attack us in anger, I slip inside and reach the ship we have down here. While you fight the Jedi, I'll activate the doors to buy you time. They'll think a droid helped you, and we can leave on two separate ships" I turned towards him with a satisfied expression.
"Sweetheart. I thought we agreed not to play the kidnapping card" he whispered with an ironic smile on his lips as he took a few steps closer. I ignored the affectionate name he called me, not letting him get into my head and distract me with less important things.
"And indeed, we'll take two separate paths. They'll be too worried about chasing you, and in the meantime, I'll cut off all communication. We'll both have time to disappear"
He looked at me irritably before walking away, throwing the lightsaber casually on the bed as he started taking off his shirt. "This plan sucks" he hissed through his teeth as he continued to undress, calling his usual tunic abandoned in a corner with the Force and starting to get dressed.
"Do you have a better idea? I don't think so. And anyway, for all we know, they could come in four or twenty" I snapped irritably, raising my voice. "Do you realize how many things could go to kriff?" he ran his hands through his hair, frustrated, and I sighed in response, irritated. "I know! We'll improvise, as we always do, but it's better than nothing... Where's Sam?" I asked suddenly, looking around.
"I deactivated him, he kept bugging me because you weren't here and was blaming me" I rubbed my eyes once again before turning towards him and pointing my finger at him. "Reactivate my droid, get help, and keep your eyes open. If everything goes well, we'll drop off their radar for a while, and maybe we can shake them off since you decided to get caught" I snapped irritably.
"Sorry, but can't we just ambush them?" he replied, frustrated.
I swallowed bitterly before answering more calmly, "I can't. Not now. We need to get rid of them calmly" I saw him make another grimace, ready to protest, but I interrupted him again.
"Shut up. You created this problem. That's why I'm the master between the two of us. Don't forget that. You have orders. Execute them." My tone was hard. Disappointed. I sounded convincing. Maybe I was venting a different kind of irritation at the moment, but he couldn't imagine that. Fortunately, I struggled to read him just as he struggled with me.
Ours was more of a dance, armed with sharp claws and lightsabers, ready to attack each other for sport or wound each other out of personal pride. I could suffer as much as I wanted for his actions, be afraid of him, but I had no doubt that deep down, Qimir had the same fear of me.
It was a race to see who would break first.
That's why I couldn't allow him to see my weakness.
"Don't get yourself killed."
And with that, I looked at him one last time before severing the bond. Darkness returned, and when I opened my eyes again, I was still in my bedroom, hugging the pillow, as that forest scent faded from my senses.

MOON 07. (part 2) (tw; trauma, cliffhanger AGAIN sorry)
Starring: Dashpaw (BuddingClan), Cliffstripe (BuddingClan), Amberpaw (BuddingClan), Cougarkit (BuddingClan), Cowkit (BuddingClan), Pinekit (BuddingClan)
The sound of frantic pawsteps could be heard first, Amberpaw growing alert and rising from her spot near Cliffstripe where they’d been chatting. Part of his hearing damaged by his loss of an ear, it seemed the ginger warrior was unaware something was approaching before his companions demeanor changed, looking up at her quizzically with his remaining yellow eye.
“Someone’s coming.” She meows simply, fixated on the camp's entrance. Cliffstripe pulls himself into a sitting position, trying to prepare himself for anything.
Dashpaw is a blur when he breaks through the clearing; had it not been for the unfamiliar scent he carried with him, the ginger warrior might not have been able to tell that he even had a kit held firmly in his jaws. The half-white tom locks his eyes on Amberpaw, making a b-line to her and promptly placing the kitten a tail-length in front of her paws.
“I need you to look after him.” Without waiting for a response, he turns his head towards Cliffstripe. “Cliffstripe, I need you to follow me. There are two more kits still. Flippaw is running a diversion, but I don’t know how much time she’ll have.”
Cliffstripe nods firmly. “Got it.” In an instant, he’s on his paws, muscles tensing and preparing for a run.
“A diversion!?” Amberpaw shouts, looking desperately at Dashpaw for more details. “Dashpaw what-”
“There’s no time to explain right now! I’ll tell you everything in a bit!” In typical Dashpaw fashion, he’s gone before she could finish her questioning. Cliffstripe shoots her an apologetic glance before taking off after the other tom.
Giving a sigh, Amberpaw slumps back onto her haunches and looks down at the young kit that was placed at her paws. “Well, guess it’s just you and me, kit. I’m Amberpaw.” She offers the tan tabby a kind smile, thinking back to the time when Flippaw was still this small and hoping to StarClan the molly was going to be alright.
--
“Explain to me what’s going on.” Cliffstripe says firmly between the pounding of his paws. “What do I need to know?”
Dashpaw was a few paces ahead of him, leading the way. He doesn’t spare a glance back at the warrior, and hopes that his voice can be heard well enough from his position. “Flippaw and I were in the outer fields -- she smelled blood, I smelled a wolf. I tried to leave, but she found these kits instead-” He stops for a second to catch his breath before continuing. “-she said she was going to lead the wolf away so we could get the kits! She didn’t even give me a choice about it!”
Were it not for the severity of the situation, Cliffstripe would almost find it humorous; perhaps Dashpaw had rubbed off more on the younger molly than he had thought. “Did you find their mother?”
“I’m guessing that’s the source of the blood-smell.” Dashpaw shouts back grimly.
Try as he did, Dashpaw couldn’t catch a single trace of Flippaw’s current whereabouts; maybe that was for the best? Hopefully that meant she was successful in leading the beast away.
When they reached the remaining two kits, one of them had started crying out for its mother, the sound of her tiny voice causing Cliffstripe’s heart to ache. To lose one's family so young… He approaches the kit slowly, lowering himself to appear less threatening.
“Hey, it’s okay.” The other kit, the blue one, hisses and lashes a tiny paw out defensively. Her sister waddles forward on unsteady paws and sniffs at Cliffstripe curiously.
“This is sweet and all, Cliff’, but we gotta be going.” Dashpaw warned, tail twitching nervously behind him.
Drawing himself back up, Ciffstripe licks at his chest, feeling slightly embarrassed. “Ah- no, you’re right.” He turns back to the pair of kittens and picks up the remaining brown and white she-kit, Dashpaw following suit and grabbing the cranky blue one before making themselves scarce.
--
By the time they return, Amberpaw has put a nest together for the kits; lined with downy feathers from an earlier catch, it seemed the mottled tabby kit Dashpaw had brought in before had already taken up residency within. With the other two kits placed into the nest, they greet each other excitedly, the blue kit pouncing sloppily onto her brother.
“Is that all of them?” Amberpaw asks, looking at the toms.
“These are all the ones Flippaw and I found.” Dashpaw confirms.
An uneasy silence fills the clearing at the mention of the spotted apprentice’s name. Her plan was so hurried that they didn’t take the time to discuss where they’d meet up after, where she planned to goad the wolf into chasing her, really anything.
“She’ll be okay.” Cliffstripe meows, causing the others to look at him.
“How can you be so sure? She’s only been an apprentice for two moons!” Amberpaw’s voice is harsher than she intended it to be, and she flinches back from her own voice. “I’m sorry for yelling, I just-”
Cliffstripe shakes his head. “It’s okay, I understand. Just believe in her, okay? Dashpaw did, I’m going to choose to do so as well. If Flippaw thought she could manage this, then I trust her.”
Amberpaw looks uncertain still, but remains silent and simply nods. As confident as she was in herself, she struggled to find the kind of trust that Cliffstripe seemed to have in everyone.
Seeming uncomfortable with just sitting around, the molly turns her attention back to the trio of kits and tries to usher them off of the nest. “Come on, I’ll bring you inside so you can sleep.”
Dashpaw fights the urge to argue their nest placements; now wasn’t the time. He looks back to Cliffstripe, worry knitted in his brow. “When should we go out to look for her?”
“When the moon is high. I want to make sure we give her enough time and don’t meet the wrong end of a wolf.” Again. He nods back silently, light-blue gaze fixated on the stars beginning to fill the sky. ‘StarClan, if you really exist… you better keep her safe.’

There's a problem
Bucky x yn
Summary: y/n and bucky get captured by hydra and bucky is forced to watch them use the trigger words on y/n.
A/n: part 2 is now available, but idk how to put the link for it on this one, so you guys can access it easier.
-------------------------------------------------------
Bucky sat on the cold, hard floor of his cell, staring helplessly through the transparent barrier that separated him from y/n. The sterile, clinical environment of the Hydra facility made everything feel more oppressive. He tugged futilely at his restraints, frustration and fear gnawing at him. y/n was in the cell opposite his, her eyes wide with terror as she tried to process their dire situation.
"Stay strong, y/n" he whispered, knowing she couldn't hear him but hoping his presence might offer some comfort.
The door to y/n's cell slid open, and two Hydra agents walked in, dragging her to the center. Bucky's heart pounded in his chest as he watched them prepare to use the trigger words.
"No," he muttered, his voice shaking. "Not again. Please, not her."
One of the agents stepped forward and began to recite the words with cruel precision: "Longing. Rusted. Furnace. Daybreak. Seventeen. Benign. Nine. Homecoming. One. Freight car."
With each word, y/n's face twisted in agony, her body convulsing as she fought against the control. Tears streamed down her cheeks, and she clenched her fists, trying to resist the programming. Bucky felt his own tears welling up, his soul shattering as he watched the love of his life endure the same torment he had known all too well.
"y/n, fight it!" he screamed, his voice raw with desperation. "Don't let them do this to you!"
But when the final word was spoken, y/n's expression went blank, her eyes devoid of emotion. The agents stepped back, satisfied with their work, and released her from the cell. She stood there, motionless, waiting for orders.
At that moment, the facility's alarms blared, signaling the arrival of the Avengers. Steve, Natasha, and Tony burst into the room, ready to rescue their friends. They paused, shocked to see y/n standing free, her face an empty mask.
"y/n?" Steve called out, lowering his shield slightly. "What are you doing?"
y/n didn't respond. Instead, she launched into an attack, her movements swift and precise. The Avengers were taken aback, trying to defend themselves without hurting her.
Tony turned to see Bucky in his cell, a look of anguish on his face. "What's going on?" he shouted over the chaos.
"They've got her under control," Bucky choked out, his voice breaking. "She's been triggered, just like they did to me."
Realizing the gravity of the situation, the Avengers shifted their approach. "We need to get Bucky out of there," Steve commanded. "Tony, get the door open."
Tony quickly hacked the cell controls, and the door to Bucky's cell slid open. Bucky rushed out, his focus solely on y/n. "We can't break the control," he said, his voice filled with sorrow. "We have to knock her out."
Steve nodded grimly. "Natasha, you handle it."
Natasha moved with precision, using her skills to subdue y/n without causing serious harm. With a swift, calculated move, she knocked y/n unconscious. Bucky caught her before she hit the ground, cradling her gently in his arms.
"It's okay, y/n" he whispered. "I've got you. We're getting you out of here."
They secured y/n in chains, ensuring she wouldn't hurt anyone if she woke up before they could help her. The team moved swiftly, making their escape from the facility. Bucky never let go of y/n, his resolve stronger than ever.
Back at the compound, they placed y/n in a secure room, surrounded by the best medical and psychological support the Avengers could offer. Bucky sat by her side, holding her hand, refusing to leave her alone.
"We'll find a way to break this," he vowed, looking at his teammates with determination. "We saved me. We can save her too."
Steve put a reassuring hand on Bucky's shoulder. "We'll do whatever it takes, Buck. We're in this together."
As the team set to work, Bucky stayed by y/n's side, whispering words of love and encouragement, determined to help her reclaim her freedom from Hydra's grasp.

Okay so this one kinda got away from me and I had a grand old time with it. It's so silly and stupid but it brought me joy.
Anyways, have some more Summoned!König. This time featuring relationship angst and questions about anatomy.

A Question Best Left Unanswered
You hung your head in shame as you hung up the phone. What a disaster that last call had been.
The entire hour-long phonecall you’d just had with your parents had just ended up with them berating you for a good forty-five minutes before they gave up on trying to reach you. First your father had shamed you for ruining the family name, then your mother cried that she didn’t know where she went wrong with you. All those years of preparing you to be a summoner, only for you to turn out to be a miserable failure.
By the end, you’d just barely been able to hold back your tears. Once you hung up the phone, they fell freely down your cheeks as you hurriedly scurried to your room.
Of course, it couldn’t be so simple because your friend had just turned the corner as you reached your door.
“Hey!” she called with a wave, only to retract it nervously when you turned to face her, “woah. Are you okay?”
You nodded but before you could leave, your friend clasped a hand on your shoulder.
“You’re not okay,” she said grimly, “do you want to get something from the caf?”
You hesitated. Normally, you wouldn’t be willing to eat anything until dinner came around, but the call with your parents sat wrong in your stomach. It wasn’t much, but maybe a bite to eat would help.
“Sure,” you conceded, “let’s go.”
---
With a plate of crackers and fruit in front of you, the most the chefs on base would give you, you broke down and told your friend about the call.
“Your parents suck,” your friend spat, “like, who does that? I just can’t believe anyone would say that, especially not to their own kid.”
“They’re not usually that bad,” you weakly tried to defend them, but today your heart just wasn’t in it.
“Are you sure?” your friend asked as they took a bite of their veggie sandwich.
You sighed heavily.
“I just wish they would as least pretend to be proud of me,” you stirred your drink with your straw slowly, “I mean, I didn’t ask to be born like this. Why is it my fault that I can’t control my summon? He’s literally an avatar. An avatar. Those are like, the hardest summons to try to control.”
“Actually I think a legend might be,” your friend interjected, food spitting out their mouth as they spoke, “or maybe an immortal. I don’t think anyone’s managed to control a god before…”
“Okay yeah sure but it doesn't change the fact that he’s an avatar. Of chaos,” you wiped the chewed up spittle off your sleeves with a brush of your hand, “and I’m, well, you know, me. There’s no way I can handle König.”
“His name is König?” your friend asked.
“Yeah,” you took a sip of your drink, “he’s pretty nice honestly. Last week he got me my stuffed animals and the game boy I lost from my old home.”
Your friend looked at you with wide, unblinking eyes. Their jaw dropped to their chest for a moment before they were able to gather their composure.
“No fucking way,” she muttered.
“What?” you snorted, “aren’t all summons like that?”
Your friend shook her head hard enough to make you worry her neck would snap.
“No? I don’t even know my fire imp’s name, or my water sprite. They’re just my summons,” your friend explained, “most of the time they just tolerate me because they can’t kill me.”
“Don’t you form bonds with them?” you asked, now curious.
“Nope,” your friend snorted, “my water imp sprite tried to drown me when I first summoned it. Most summons try to kill their summoners as soon as they figure out that they’re not in the other realm.”
“König’s never hurt me,” you admitted.
“Never? Has he ever tried to?” your friend leaned back with an awestruck expression.
“Not once,” you confided.
“So you’re not the one that made König your mate?” your friend put together slowly, “König made you his mate!?”
You grimaced and leaned back from her, “Pretty much.”
Your friend whistled, “No fuckin’ shot. I can’t believe you bagged an avatar of chaos. Like, you realize how insane that sounds, right?”
You blinked. You hadn’t really thought about it that way. You’d always just seen it as König sparing your life, but the thought that somehow you were the one to seduce an avatar of chaos brought you a spark of joy.
“I guess you’re right,” you agreed timidly, “I just thought that he was lonely.”
Your friend snorted, “I mean probably, yeah, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that he chose you as a mate,” she thought for a moment, took a bite of her sandwich and then asked, “wait, so if you’re a human and he’s an avatar, what will your kids look like?”
You flushed and turned to hide your face, but your friend was quicker.
“Wait, have you actually thought about that?” she teased you lightly.
“I mean, we’ve never actually… You know… We’re not really a couple,” you admitted.
“So you’re not banging him?” your friend raised an eyebrow.
“No?” you gasped, horrified by your friend’s suggestions, “I barely even know him!”
“But like,” your friend pressed their lips into a line. She studied you carefully before she finally asked, “Aren’t you curious?”
“About what? Fucking him?” you raised your eyebrows at the suggestion.
“I mean yeah, but like…” your friend leaned in close again, “what does he even look like?”
“I…” you paused, “I actually don’t know.”
Your friend took a bite of her salad before pointing her fork at you, “We need to fix that.”
“We!?”
“Well now I’m curious,” your friend shrugged, “so now it’s not an ish-you kind of problem, it’s an ish-us.”
“That doesn’t even make any sense,” you sputtered.
“Point is that I-sorry we need to figure this out. I mean,” your friend tossed you a sly look, “if you’re gonna have his kids you’re gonna have to find out one way or another.”
You were at a loss for words. All you could do was stare at the woman who sat across the table from you, almost as though she herself were an avatar of chaos.
Your friend scowled, “What?”
You slowed your pace to a crawl as you approached your dorm. It wasn’t that you weren’t eager to go to bed, rather the contrary, but the thought of facing König tonight made your cheeks burn bright red.
Ever since your conversation with your friend, you hadn’t been able to stop thinking about König. You already thought about König a bit too much for your own comfort, but you’d never thought about König like this before. It wasn’t like you were a prude by any means, but you’d never actually considered being with König like that before.
It’s not that it had never come up, you still remembered König trying to take you almost immediately after claiming you as his mate, but ever since he’d been nothing but respectful of the boundaries you'd since put up If anything, he was sometimes more respectful of your own boundaries than you were. Maybe he read your mind more than he let on, but you liked to think he was just thoughtful. After all, if you’d been around since the beginning of time, wouldn’t you be considerate and patient? You liked to think you’d be, but you had your doubts.
Thinking about König had you blushing as you walked down the hallway to your dorm. You could see the door all the way from here, only occasionally being obscured by a summoner retreating into their dorm for the evening. Occasionally, you could see a summon tagging behind them, most often looking rather irritated or depressed, something you’d never really noticed before.
Most summons were kept in the other realm unless they were actively being called upon. Some summoners like to keep their summons by their side, almost as though they were a beloved pet. You thought to your meditation teacher with his summon. Other times, you saw summoners struggling to manage their summons. In fact, the one class you excelled in was protecting yourself against your summon. Of course, the only reason you did so well was because König never tried to attack you in the first place. Your sergeant had been frustrated at first, but after further consideration decided to take it as your summon being too attached to you to consider attacking you. With this in mind, she gave you a bright and shining report. She then promptly told you to never take her class again. You were more than happy to comply.
Of course, König didn’t always help during your training. In fact, he seemed to prefer leaving you to your own devices whenever possible. He’d once explained that he gave you minimal support to encourage you to train harder to keep up with your peers, but you decidedly figured it was because he was too lazy to help. König only rolled his eyes when you told him that and decidedly vanished to the other realm for the rest of the night.
Your doorway grew closer and closer with each step you took. You wished that you could find a way to avoid going back to your dorm, but lights out drew nearer and nearer the longer your tried to put off entering your one personal area.
Finally, you reached your dorm. With a heavy sigh, you opened the door and stepped inside.
Surprisingly, König wasn’t there to greet you.
“König?” you called out carefully, but no reply came back to you.
You walked towards your desk.
“König?” you called again, but again there was no response.
Maybe he was occupied for the evening.
A sudden rush of relief overcame you. The absolute last thing you wanted to do was face König while your conversation with your friend was still fresh on your mind. That said, you had the strong suspicion that a night of good rest wouldn’t be enough to shake the thoughts from your head. With the way the question had fixed itself to your mind, you had the dreadful feeling that the only way to find some sort of satisfactory answer was to progress your relationship with König.
But were you ready to go that far? You’d shared a kiss, but since then, König had kept his distance. He was strangely considerate of the trepidation you felt whenever the thought of being in a romantic relationship with König crossed your mind. How would that even work? You were a mortal. Your life was but a blink of his eyes. And yet, despite your limited lifespan, he chose to spend this fraction of his life by your side. Was he amused by the whims of his new plaything? Was he simply toying with you until he chose to rend the soul from your mortal flesh? The thought made you nauseous.
But why did it make you nauseous? Why did the thought of König’s ultimate betrayal feel like a stone in the pit of your stomach? Why did your eyes sting and your throat clench when you thought of how little you matter to a being as grand and powerful as König?
You had an idea of what was behind the feelings, but you daren’t give it any room to breath, never mind grow within your mind’s garden. You’d instead stamp it out, coat it in salt and rip it from the earth like a weed. Of course, the roots went deeper than you could imagine.
You slumped into the plushest chair your company could buy in the corner of your room. It was worn, tired; it had seen many generations of new and upcoming summoners such as yourself. The thought gave way to an ache deep inside your chest.
You wiped your sleeves over the tears that flowed from your eyes. You didn’t consider yourself to be of the weeping sort, but since König had entered your life, he’d seemingly turned everything upside down, including how you operated in your day-to-day life. A part of you hated it, a louder part wished to take it all with open arms. You despised both parts for their respective tenacity.
You allowed yourself to curl up for what felt like forever before you managed to come to terms with your fears.
You would be nothing to him. You were a speck in his eye, if anything. You were naught but dust, and you would have to content yourself with such an existence. Now as to why König had taken such a shining to you, that was beyond your comprehension. If you had the mind of Aristotle, Diogenes, or Plato maybe you could have come to terms with your existence in relation to the greater world. Had you a mind of Camus, Cant or Descarte maybe you could content yourself with the meaning of your existence itself. But you had no such mind, now did you? You were weak and feeble, a summoner with all the potential one could hope for at your fingertips yet hindered by your own inability to understand the ethos of methods that had been passed on like the summoners passed before them.
You felt the tears subside briefly to allow you a moment to recover from the throes of your emotions. Unfortunately, just as you felt yourself wrangling your emotions back under your control, the pot lights flickered.
“No not now…” you groaned and curled further into the safety of the chair.
“Did I come at a bad time?” König crossed his arms as he stared at you from the centre of the room.
“Can you please go away?” you sighed as you turned away from him.
König hummed before stalking to your side, “I think that it would be wrong of me to abandon my mate when they’re in such a state.”
At the mention of ‘mate’, you groaned and ducked your head between your knees.
König paused, then drew away. He came back moments later to swath you in a warm blanket before he crouched in front of you.
“It seems something troubles you, summoner,” König droned as you drew the blankets around your form.
“I’m fine,” you spat bitterly.
König barked out a laugh before ruffling your hair affectionately, “You certainly are in quite a mood, aren’t you?”
“Just go away,” you grumbled.
König drummed his claws over his knee. His scales rippled in the crepuscular light that shone into your room, his onyx scales shining almost iridescent in the warm dying rays of sun.
“Must I read my mate’s mind to understand what troubles them so?”
You grumbled and ducked your head under the blanket.
König sighed. He stretched up with cracking joints, and you’d hoped he’d left until you felt him pull your blankets from your head. You tried to struggle against him, but he didn’t so much as budge while you writhed. With a sigh, you conceded and allowed him to pull the blankets to the side to see you properly.
“Well, summoner?”
“I just was thinking about us…” you admitted.
“Us? In what sense?” König asked, already fully aware of your answer.
“Like, we’re mates, right?” you tucked your nose to your knees, “but I don’t know why.”
König hummed, then drew you up into his arms. You struggled and spat, but he held you before he sat down on the sofa with a loud poomf as the air was punched out from the pillows.
“You don’t understand why I chose you,” König surmised quickly.
You didn’t dare meet his eyes as you nodded.
“Well,” König adjusted you so you sat upright in his lap, “I’d say it makes perfect sense.”
You stared at him blankly.
“That reaction of yours is exactly why it makes sense,” König explained, “a being of chaos is likely to tear you asunder. Maybe enslave you, maybe curse you for thousands of generations to come. It’s expected that something horrible would happen.”
“So you chose me because it was the random choice?” you asked.
“I chose you because I saw your potential,” König explained, “and, of course, you're right as what greater delight is there than to choose the opposite of the expected outcome? Why follow your expected order when I can tie you to my side for millennia to come?”
You scowled, “So you chose to be my mate because you thought it would be funny.”
König shook his head, “You could take it that way, but that would be unwise. Rather, I chose you as a mate because I saw your potential and wanted to see it through.
“You were set up to fail, you realize this?" König stared deep into your eyes, "the chalk you used to summon me was imbued to ensure that whatever was summoned would be more than you could ever hope to control. The patterns they gave you were far too complex for a beginner summoner. You were supposed to be torn apart.”
You froze in König’s arms.
“Yes, you were meant to die. But when I looked at you, marked for death by those envious of your potential,” König’s smirk was woven into his words, “I saw that potential of yours and I saw an opportunity. I saw a way to usurp the delicate balance of power this world has.”
“So I’m a pawn to you,” you felt the tears stinging behind your eyes again.
“Not in the slightest,” König chided you patiently, “I saw you for your potential and I saw someone who just needed a push. Someone who just needed someone to help them see their own worth. And that someone, dear summoner, was none other than myself.”
“That still makes me sound like a pawn,” you complained.
“Then I’ll tell you this: I chose you because I saw what we could become together,” König whispered into your ear, “I see you now, mind you. I see you and I am enthralled by you in all your strange and truly wonderful ways.
“I want you to listen carefully summoner, as this is a lesson that will be tattooed into your veins: I love you for you. I love you for who you’ve been, who you are, who you will be. I love you for all of you, completely and forever.”
You flushed brightly. Instead of replying, you simply tucked your face into yourself to avoid having to meet his eyes. Of course, the joy of being loved could only last so long in the shadow of a more pressing problem.
“I’m assuming forever is until I die,” you sighed.
“Yes? That’s what will happen, yes,” König told you plainly, “as it will happen to myself. We will die together.”
Your eyes snapped wide open as you whirled around to look him in the eyes.
“Calm yourself, summoner,” König huffed, “what makes you think that will be soon?”
“I mean, soon for you,” you muttered bitterly.
“Soon for me?” König chortled, “I don’t think that day will come anytime soon. You’re my mate summoner, you’ll be with me until we die.”
You stared at him, “So, in seventy years?”
König reeled back in shock, “Seventy years? That’s nothing! You’ll be with me for the rest of my natural life!”
You blinked.
“But…” you glared at him, “but that’s like… I’ll never get that old.”
“Summoner,” König drawled, "have you not considered that when mated to me, certain aspects of your life will change?”
Honestly, the thought hadn’t crossed your mind.
“No, you didn’t think that,” König concluded after looking into your eyes, “well let me be the one to inform you that your natural life has been extended exponentially to match mine. You’ll be with me until the bitter end, I’m afraid. Or at least, for as long as you’ll take me as your mate.”
“I mean, I’m pretty happy with you,” you admitted.
“I’d hope so,” König sniffed.
“Don’t be like that,” you huffed.
“Be like what, upset that you’d be anything other than infatuated with me?” König retorted.
“Infatuated?” you laughed, “that’s a lot to ask for, isn’t it?”
“Not when it’s already provided,” König booped your nose, much to your dismay.
“I’m not infatuated-what? Where are you getting that from!?” you snapped as König threw his head back with a gurgling laugh.
“I jest, summoner,” König gave you a light kiss from beneath his mask, feeling more like being pinched by something sharp than being kissed on the cheek. You pushed his face away which he only just allowed before hugging you close.
“Now, summoner,” König rubbed his cheek against yours, leaving behind a thin sheen of something that smelled strongly of König, “I can tell there is more on your mind.”
“No there isn’t,” you lied weakly.
“No? There’s nothing I can answer for you?” König trilled.
“Nope,” you turned your face away from him, “I know everything.”
“Not yet, summoner,” König laughed.
“And who are you to question my endless knowledge?” you huffed haughtily as you cast him a downright scathing side-eye.
“Oh, nobody important,” König lay back in the seat, “only the being that saw the creation of your universe and will live to see its death.”
You rolled your eyes, already over his ‘holier than thou’, or rather, ‘more worldly than thou’ attitude.
“So tell me summoner,” König’s hand wandered down your torso, “isn’t there more on your mind?”
You flushed scarlet. He really was determined to get to the bottom of this, wasn’t he? A part of you felt that he was only pushing you this way to further tease you, but you couldn’t help the genuine curiosity bubbling forth.
“I mean, maybe,” you conceded, “but it’s nothing important.”
“I would say otherwise,” König tucked your face into his clavicle.
“Well,” you started, emboldened now that you didn’t have to look your mate in the eyes, “I was talking with a friend about you.”
“Were you now?” König drawled.
“And uh, we were talking about how you chose to be my mate, not the other way around. So, we got to talking about it, and…” you trailed off shamefully.
“Talking about us being mates? I can imagine a great myriad of topics can come forth from such a nebulous beginning,” König brushed his claws through your hair with surprisingly tender care.
“Well, we were kinda talking about what it would be like for you to fuck me?” you squeaked out.
König paused in his ministrations, seemingly shocked by your forwardness.
“I’d hope it would be pleasurable for both of us,” König stated, still befuddled by your answer.
“Well that’s what we started talking about, and then it went on to what your dick looked like?” if you didn’t think your voice could go any higher, you’d be poorly mistaken.
König slowly leaned back to be able to look you in the eyes.
His voice sounded like it was coming from deep under the ocean, “Excuse me?”
If you weren’t so embarrassed you might have laughed at your ability to shock a being older than time itself. Evidently, though König could see the ways time shifted and cross, was able to see all the possible outcomes of an event, even he couldn’t predict just how horny you were.
“I mean, it’s just like,” you shrugged, “if I wanna have your kid I’d probably have to figure it out at some point, right?”
König nodded mutely.
“Do you…” you looked him dead in the eyes, “do you even have a dick?”
König blinked.
“Yes?” he stared back at you, “I mean, what did you expect?”
You shrugged, “Maybe a cloaca?”
You could see the furious horror that washed over König’s face despite the mask.
“I do not have a cloaca and whoever told you that is a cheat, a fiend and a liar!”
Evidently someone had history.
“It’s a reasonable thing to think!” you protested, “I mean, you’ve got this whole bird-y ocean thing going on with you? It’s a vibe, sure, but it doesn’t give me much room to work with.”
"I have a what-You know what, nevermind, I don’t want to hear it,” König groaned as he rolled his eyes, “but yes I do in fact have a ‘dick’ as you refer to it. I don’t know why you’d think-”
“It was the water bird thing!”
“Why you’d think my 'vibe' might change that. I am… Wait, I don’t actually know what your species looks like,” König dropped his hands, “one moment please summoner,” he placed a thumb against your forehead, and immediately you felt your entire body go numb. After only a minute had passed, König withdrew his thumb, and with it came the return of your senses.
“Well that was informative,” König grumbled, “but not particularly helpful. I am realizing that I’m… Different from your species. Significantly so.”
“That’s really not helpful,” you flushed, “I mean, you could just show me…”
König pressed another pinching kiss to your forehead, “My mate, I think we should wait until you’re ready to go that far.”
You squirmed in his lap, “I mean, it can’t be that bad…”
“You can wait,” König tucked you back to his chest, “I assure you it won’t change for another thousand years.”
“Wait, it changes?” you spluttered.
“I reserve my right to remain silent,” König replied.
“You sure don’t use it often,” you grumbled only to find your lips pressed firmly together into a line. Despite your best efforts, your lips remained stuck in place.
König sighed and settled back into the sofa, “Much better.”
You were going to kill him, you swore by it.

What to expect when you're expecting
||Logan Howlett x GN!Reader||
Tumblr media
"Expecting...?"
Logan called you over to his apartment in a panic, sounding distraught like never before. Of course, you rushed over--most likely breaking some traffic laws--and hurriedly knocked on his door. He opened it and in his hands he clutched something. He moved aside to let you in.
You rushed in and noticed his strange demeanor. "Is everything okay, Wolvey?" He squeezed his eyes shut.
"Not now, Y/N. This is serious. Take a seat." He said, nodding in the direction of the couch. You obeyed his orders and sat down, preparing for the worst.
But nothing could prepare for what your boyfriend was about to say.
"I'm......expecting." He sounded serious but you couldn't help but laugh.
"That sounded better in my head." He muttered. "This isn't a joke, Y/N." Now that wiped the smile off your face.
You looked at him, confused.
"Expecting...?" He grimly nodded and showed you the pregnancy test. There it was.
Positive.

chapter 3: war and anything but peace
Tumblr media
“Are you still upset by that review?” Lyla prompts, chewing her morning toast loudly in front of you.
You groan aloud in response to her comment, auditory proof that if it wasn’t obvious enough by your body language and mood for the past forty eight hours, yes, you were still pissed.
That bastard almost cost you your job. Your very first job in fact since you had made it to college and he had almost made you lose it.
“I swear if I see him around on campus today, there’s no promise that I’ll stop myself from drop-kicking him.” you warn in a low tone as you peer into the fridge searching for something to eat.
Your shoulders drop in disappointment as the bare white corners of the refrigerators grimly greet you and your hungry stomach, guess you’ll just have to go grocery shopping later.
But for now you think that you can settle on an omelette to satisfy your needs. You take what you need and head over to the counter to prepare your breakfast.
The meeting on customer etiquette wasn’t too bad. Steve was…nice about it in a slightly condescending way. You just wished that you were given a chance to explain yourself from your own perspective, to try and prove that you weren’t actually trying to be rude.
Although, an upside of the meeting was that you’re now being taught on how to use the machines properly in the cafe.
“He almost cost me my job, Ly’.“ you note to your roommate, cracking two eggs into a bowl before whisking.
“Ah see, key word: almost.” She points out gleefully. “From an optimistic point of view, you still have your job right?”
You huff as you whisk, muttering. “Barely.” Your motions fastened quickly, gripping the whisk tightly. The thought of him proudly posting that comment makes you want to rage and you do so, letting your anger out on the current task of whisking eggs.
You groan aloud again, pouring the beaten eggs into the pan. “I just still can’t believe he did that to me. He barely fucking knows me.”
“Mhmm, like you’ve been saying for the past two days.”
“He’s publicly humiliated me, and now the whole campus knows that I’m the shitty barista at the cafe.”
“Not everyone–” Lyla quips up, a light smile drawn over her lips. “No one reads google reviews, if he really wanted to hurt you he’d go on yelp.” she snorts.
“Lyla, that’s not funny.” you deadpan, turning to face her.
She raises her hands, seated at the table. “Okay, okay, it’s not like I’ll give him any ideas, I haven't even met the guy myself.”
“It’s hard to miss him.” you mutter under your breath, specifically referring to his height.
“What was that?” Lyla posed, not hearing your response.
“Nothing, nothing, m’sorry I just…it was really embarrassing having to be talked down to by my manager about not doing my job properly, like it was so condescending. If I mess up one more time, then I thinkI’m gone for good Ly’. Even MJ was surprised to hear me come back.”
“Maybe you should get revenge.” Lyla notes, finishing up the last of her toast.
“What? Like murder him?”
“Woah, woah, hey there missy I wasn’t thinking about going that–“
“I was joking Lyla.”
A silence creeps in between the two of you, the sound of the eggs frying and Lyla’s crunch of toast being the only sounds in the room. As the scent of the omelette rose in the kitchen, you let yourself get carried away by your thoughts. Only a little bit. You know you said that you wouldn’t think about it anymore but you just can’t stop thinking about wrapping your hand around his large, veiny…
“I think you’re burning your omelet.” Lyla interrupts suddenly and as a result forces you to unconsciously squeak out your ongoing thoughts.
“Neck!” you say aloud.
“What?”
“What?” you repeat after her, dazed and confused.
“I said I think you’re burning your breakfast, babe.”
“Oh shit—”
/
Following your public mishap, you’ve returned to work. Eager to start over on a new leaf. MJ shows you all the basic tricks and shortcuts needed for the job which you note step by step in your head.
It goes smoothly, once you clock in. You make sure to smile at every customer, greet them with a cheerful tone, and try hard to put in all of your efforts to make up for what happened last week. So far it looks like no one really knows about the bad review online and you loosen up at the thought.
Lyla was right, you think. You had absolutely nothing to worry about.
MJ agrees too, praising you a few hours into your shift. “You’ve seemed to handle it well. Most people would have crumbled for good after having a talk with Steve.” You nod eagerly at her words, your eyes brightening up slightly.
“Have you thought about what you’ll do if he comes in again?” She asks, referencing back to your crude insult directed at him.
Sure, you had thought about a way to get revenge. In fact you had compiled a list of ways to get him to delete the review, that’s the only way that you’ll truly be able to move on from the situation.
Hesitating, you think about your answer before you speak, choosing from the list of possible methods to convince him.
“I’ll kill him with kindness.” you say, smiling before you hand the next customer a drink.
MJ hums. “And if that doesn’t work?”
“Then I’ll make him regret it.”
That’s all you get the chance to say before the devil himself walks into the cafe. MJ gives you a nudge, signaling you to get back to the till and take his order. This is the first time you’ve seen him since you’ve found out about the review.
Pulling on a fake smile and exaggerating your cheerful tone, you greet the tall and brooding customer in front of you.
“Good morning, what would you like today?” you greet, an eager smile on your face.
Miguel cocks up a brow, peering down at you. You don’t seem bothered in the slightest. He wonders if you’ve even read the comment yet.
“Coffee, milk, no sugar.” His face remains deadpan. You hum lightly, tapping his order into the till. You watch him pay, swiping his card without a second glance.
“I’ll bring it right over for you.”
MJ prepares his order for him whilst you get through the rest of the queue.
Just like before, you walk over to his table, isolated from the rest of the people in the cafe. You figure that he’s a loner in general and judging by his behavior, it’s not hard to see why.
“The nerve that you have.” you murmur, practically placing down his coffee with aggression. So much so that the hot liquid overspills on the table.
“Excuse me?” He frowns, his brows furrowed deeply, creating a crease.
Awh. He’s playing innocent.
“Your review. I saw it.”
He takes a moment before speaking again, his frown now switching back to a sort of smug face.“I was wondering if you saw that.” He mumbles. “What’d you think about it?”
That smile. That goddamn smile. You think you picked up his eyes lighting up just as the pure mention of the review. What a sadistic man.
You hold back a smirk as his eyes meet yours. They’re playful, teasing. He barely knows who you are yet plays into the temptation of learning how to push your buttons.
You batter your eyelashes on purpose, remembering to stick to your method of kindness.
“Anything else I can get for you, Miguel?”
His name slips easily from your mouth in a sultry tone. You weren’t really expecting that to come out of you and judging by the way that Miguel’s eyes widened slightly, you think that he wasn’t expecting it either. He sort of likes the way you make his name sound like that.
“Nope I’m good for now, nena. Pretty good service today, maybe last week was a fluke.”
“Maybe it was.” you say and suddenly your hopes are raised. Here’s your chance.
“Perhaps my service is good enough to take down the review now?” you propose, a smile printed across your face falsely. You take out a tissue from the metal box on his table and lean down to wipe away the split remnants of his coffee.
Your face is so close to his, you can practically feel his eyes bore into your skull as you wipe his table clean.
Miguel is so focused on you that he doesn’t even notice the words slipping from his lips. “I’ll think about it.”
“Really?” You glance up, now eye-level with him as you’re half bent over the table. Miguel leans closer to you, his face just a few centimeters away from yours. Your stomach fills with anxiety and apprehension but you’re not really sure why. His eyes never leave yours and you’re fighting every single muscle in your body to keep your own latched onto his own brown and intimidating eyes.
Miguel hums lowly, his voice low and rough as he whispers. “But you’re gonna have to try better than that if you want the review taken down, nena. I can practically smell the desperation from you. It’s…sad.”
Right there and then you swore that you have never wanted to kick a guy in the balls. His cocky attitude, the way that he looks down at you when he stands from his table,
You take a deep breath, shutting your eyes. You stand up fully, crumpling the paper tissue in your hand. “Fine. Keep your stupid review.”
“What?”
“Keep it up. You’ll regret it.”
Miguel snorts, clearly judging you. “Should I be scared?”
“I dunno’…should you?” you say, tilting your head. This time you’re not afraid to keep eye contact with him. He doesn't scare you and you shouldn't let him know how intimidated you are by him.
The two of you observe each other for a few seconds, waiting to see who’ll back down first. Your fists are clenched by your sides, your body and mind screaming at you to look away.
And unfortunately, you give in to your natural instincts.
Miguel opens his mouth to say something to you, probably something to tease you even more until his phone buzzes in his pocket. He immediately pulls it out and reads an incoming message that’s popped up on his home screen.
That frown that you once saw at the beginning of the conversation had now returned. This time his expression seemed a little more…unsettled.
“I gotta go.” He says abruptly, before downing his latte. Your eyes can't help but notice the way that his Adam apple moves as he drinks the beverage, causing the uneasy tension to return back to your stomach… again.
“You should get back to work.” He mutters, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. “Don’t keep the queue waiting because then you’ll actually start living up to the review y’know?”
You’re quick to open your mouth to voice back a quick-witted reply when MJ calls out your name. You turn back to see her glancing over at you from the coffee machines.
“Hey! A little help here?”
Your shoulders sag at the thought of leaving your task unaccomplished. Shuffling away from his table, you move back to your station, entirely missing the way that Miguel turns back to look at you before he leaves.
Looks like he wins this one.
For now.

MC was stabbed and Lux has to take out the knife to stitch the wound back up... but it's going to hurt a lot. How would Lux react if MC was scared and begging them to not take the knife out and leave them?
This was a fun one, anon! Answer beneath the cut. TW for slight violence?
You're bleeding, and Lux's world is spinning. They watch as you writhe in pain on the bed, your face gaunt and your lips chapped. Blood pools from your stab wound, thick and sticky and crimson. The knife that was stuck in you remains embedded in your side. It gleams in the torchlight, as if taunting the both of you.
Lux sits at your bedside, holding your hand. They press a kiss to the back of your knuckles, ignoring the blood on their own hands. It's not theirs, but that of the worm who decided it would be a good idea to stab you. His battered head sits on a spike atop the palace gates now. Lux cleaved it from his shoulders, but not before bashing his face in.
They push aside the fury that overtakes them, instead offering you a soothing smile. The royal physician stands a ways away, preparing a needle and thread.
"Lux," you cry, pressing your face into the crook of their neck, "it hurts. It hurts so much."
Lux's heart breaks at the pain in your voice. They squeeze your hand tighter as if that could take your pain away. As if that would make you better. "I know, love," they say, "you're so strong for putting up with it."
You shake your head weakly, your eyes glazed with pain. "Don't let him take the knife out," you plead, looking to the physician. "It'll hurt even worse, I don't want that, please--"
(If High!Corrptuon Lux: Darkly, Lux thinks that if the man who stabbed you wasn't already dead, they would have tortured him some more.)
"We need to remove the blade to treat the room, love," they tell you gently, "it's for the better, I promise."
Judging by the panicked look on your face, you aren't convinced. "Don't let him hurt me," you beg.
Their lips draw into a thin, tight line. They rise from the bed, murmuring soothing words when you grow alarmed, and approach the physician.
"Give me the needle and thread," they say, "I'll do this myself."
The man startles, his eyes narrowing. "With all due respect, Your Highness," he hedges, "I'm not sure that's wise--"
The look Lux sends them could cut through stone. "Are you deaf?" they snap. "I said I'd do it. You'll stand there, in case anything should go awry."
They extend an open palm. With great reluctance, the physician acquiesces. Prize in hand, they return to you, twirling the needle between their fingers.
"He's not going to hurt you," Lux assures you, settling back to your side. Their hand floats to grasp the hilt of the knife. "But this will cause you pain nevertheless. Can you be strong for me, love?"
Your eyes meet. They try to channel all of the love they hold for you, all of the adoration, into their gaze. After a moment's hesitation, you nod.
Lux smiles grimly, and gently, and presses a light kiss to the corner of your mouth. Then, in tandem with their lips meeting your skin, they draw the knife from your flesh.
When you scream, it takes everything they have not to scream along with you.

Legend of the Sword and the Swollen Belly
Mei Lin moved like flowing water, her blade flashing in the dim light of the alleyway. Eight months pregnant she may have been, but that did nothing to slow the grace of her movements as she danced between her attackers.
"Look at the size of her!" one of the thugs jeered. "She can barely stand, much less fight!"
Mei Lin said nothing, conserving her breath. Let them underestimate her. It would be their downfall.
The first man lunged forward, swinging a heavy club. Mei Lin pivoted, her swollen belly just barely clearing the path of the weapon. In the same fluid motion, she brought her sword up and across, opening a deep gash in the thug's arm. He cried out and stumbled back.
Two more rushed her from opposite sides. Mei Lin dropped into a crouch, wincing at the strain on her lower back. The thugs collided above her with a meaty thud. As they reeled back, she rose and struck in two swift motions. Both men fell, clutching bleeding legs.
"Who sent you?" Mei Lin demanded, her voice steady despite her elevated breathing.
"Go to hell, you cow!" one of the fallen men spat.
Mei Lin's eyes narrowed. Her next strike left him short one ear.
"I won't ask again," she said coldly.
The remaining thugs looked at each other nervously. This was not how they had expected the night to go. Their boss had assured them this would be an easy job - just rough up some helpless pregnant woman as a warning to her husband. No one had mentioned anything about her being a master swordswoman.
"It was Gao," one of them said quickly. "Boss Gao sent us. Said to send a message to your husband about paying his debts."
Mei Lin nodded grimly. "Tell Gao that my husband's debts died with him three months ago. And if he sends anyone else after me or my child, his debts to me will be paid in blood."
She began to turn away, then paused as another contraction gripped her. The thugs watched in confusion and growing terror as she braced herself against the alley wall, breathing heavily.
After a long moment, Mei Lin straightened. She fixed the men with a steely glare. "Now get out of my sight. My child and I have an appointment to keep."
The thugs scrambled to gather their wounded and flee. Mei Lin watched them go, one hand on her sword, the other resting on her belly where her child kicked furiously.
"Settle down, little one," she murmured. "You'll have your chance to fight soon enough. But first, let's get you safely into this world."
With a final glance down the alley, Mei Lin sheathed her sword and set off toward the midwife's house. It was going to be a long night.
———————
Mei Lin arrived at the midwife's house, her breath coming in short gasps. The old woman, Madam Chen, took one look at her and ushered her inside.
"Is it time?" she asked, helping Mei Lin to a bed.
Mei Lin nodded, then grimaced as another contraction hit. Madam Chen examined her carefully, then frowned.
"False alarm, my dear," she said gently. "Your body is preparing, but the little one isn't ready yet."
Mei Lin sighed, partly in relief and partly in frustration. "How much longer?"
"Could be days," Madam Chen replied. "Get some rest. You'll need your strength."
Reluctantly, Mei Lin allowed herself to be convinced to stay the night. She slept fitfully, her dreams filled with clashing swords and crying infants.
The next morning, feeling refreshed but still very pregnant, Mei Lin made her way home. The streets were quieter than usual, an uneasy tension in the air. As she turned onto her street, she saw why.
A group of men stood outside her house, led by a portly figure she recognized all too well. Boss Gao himself had come to call.
"Ah, Mei Lin," Gao called out as she approached. "I heard you had an eventful evening. I thought I'd come personally to discuss your husband's... outstanding obligations."
Mei Lin's hand went to her sword hilt. "I told your men, Gao. My husband's debts died with him."
Gao's face hardened. "Debts don't die, Mei Lin. They pass to the family. Unless, of course, you'd like to work out an... alternative arrangement." His eyes lingered on her swollen belly.
White-hot rage filled Mei Lin. Without conscious thought, her sword was in her hand.
"Last chance, Gao," she growled. "Leave now, or join my husband in the afterlife."
Gao laughed and gestured to his men. "Take her."
What followed was a blur of steel and blood. Mei Lin fought like a woman possessed, her blade singing through the air. She was outnumbered, but her skill and fury more than made up for it.
One by one, Gao's men fell. Some fled, clutching bleeding wounds. Others lay still on the ground. Through it all, Mei Lin never lost sight of Gao, who watched with increasing panic as his forces dwindled.
Finally, it was just the two of them. Gao fumbled for a hidden dagger, but Mei Lin was faster. Her sword flashed out, knocking the weapon from his hand and opening a gash across his palm.
"Please," Gao whimpered, falling to his knees. "Mercy!"
Mei Lin stood over him, sword point at his throat. "Did you show mercy to my husband when he begged for more time? Did you show mercy when you sent thugs after his pregnant wife?"
She pulled back her sword for the killing blow, but suddenly staggered. A contraction gripped her, far stronger than before. As she gasped in pain, her water broke, soaking her legs.
Gao's eyes widened in terror. "You- you can't kill me now! It's bad luck to spill blood when a child is coming!"
Mei Lin's laugh was half pain, half bitter amusement. "Then it seems today is your lucky day, Gao." She lowered her sword. "Run. Run far and fast. Because if I ever see you again, no superstition will stay my hand."
As Gao scrambled away, Mei Lin sank to her knees, breathing heavily. The baby was coming, and coming fast.
"Madam Chen!" she called out, hoping the midwife was nearby. "I think it's time for real now!"
As neighbors began to emerge, drawn by the sounds of fighting, Mei Lin closed her eyes and focused on her breathing. One battle was over, but another was just beginning. And this time, she and her child would face it together.
———————————-
The Sword, the Swollen Belly, and the Solitary Struggle
Mei Lin's cries for Madam Chen went unanswered. The midwife must have been attending another birth. Panic threatened to overwhelm her as another contraction hit, stronger than before.
No, she thought fiercely. I've faced worse than this. I can do this.
With great effort, Mei Lin pulled herself to her feet. She couldn't give birth here in the street, surrounded by curious onlookers. She needed privacy and safety.
Gritting her teeth against the pain, she staggered towards her house. Each step was agony, but she pressed on, one hand on her sword hilt, the other supporting her belly.
Once inside, she barred the door and made her way to the bedroom. She laid out clean sheets and gathered what supplies she could - a knife to cut the cord, clean cloths, water.
As she worked, the contractions intensified. Mei Lin found herself on her hands and knees, panting through the pain. She tried to remember what Madam Chen had told her about breathing, about pushing.
Hours passed in a haze of pain and effort. Mei Lin lost track of time, focused only on the relentless rhythm of contractions. She alternated between walking, squatting, and resting on her side.
"Come on, little one," she gasped. "We've fought so hard to get here. Don't give up now."
The pain reached a crescendo. Mei Lin felt an overwhelming urge to push. She bore down with all her might, a primal scream tearing from her throat.
Nothing happened.
Panic rose again. Was something wrong? She pushed again, and again, but the baby didn't seem to be moving.
Exhausted and terrified, Mei Lin closed her eyes. She thought of all the battles she'd fought, all the challenges she'd overcome. She thought of her husband, of the life growing inside her.
"We are warriors," she whispered fiercely. "And warriors don't give up."
With renewed determination, Mei Lin changed positions. She squatted, bracing herself against the bed. As the next contraction built, she took a deep breath and pushed with everything she had.
This time, she felt movement. Hope surged through her. "That's it," she encouraged herself. "Keep going."
Push after push, Mei Lin fought to bring her child into the world. The pain was beyond anything she'd ever experienced, but she embraced it, used it to fuel her determination.
Finally, with one last Herculean effort, she felt the baby slip free. Mei Lin caught the tiny, slippery body in her hands, her heart pounding.
For a terrifying moment, there was silence. Then, a lusty cry filled the room.
Tears streamed down Mei Lin's face as she brought the baby to her chest. "Hello, my little warrior," she whispered. "Welcome to the world."
With shaking hands, she cut the cord and cleaned the baby as best she could. It was a girl, small but strong, with a shock of dark hair and eyes that seemed to take in everything.
As Mei Lin held her daughter close, she felt a profound sense of peace. They had done it. Against all odds, they had survived.
"Your father would be so proud," she murmured to the now-quiet infant. "And I promise you, my little one, I will always be here to protect you. We'll face whatever comes together."
Outside, the sun was rising, painting the sky in shades of pink and gold. A new day was dawning, and with it, a new chapter in Mei Lin's life. She knew there would be challenges ahead, but for now, she allowed herself to rest, her daughter safe in her arms.
The swordswoman had become a mother, and she was ready for her greatest adventure yet.
————————————-
Mei Lin's moment of peace was short-lived. As she cradled her newborn daughter, a familiar pain gripped her abdomen. Her eyes widened in shock and disbelief.
"No," she gasped. "It can't be..."
But the contractions continued, growing in intensity. Mei Lin's mind raced. Twins? How had she not known? How had Madam Chen not realized?
There was no time to ponder these questions. The second baby was coming, and coming fast. Mei Lin gently placed her daughter in a makeshift nest of blankets, then struggled to her feet.
This labor was different. The pain was sharper, more urgent. Mei Lin paced the room, one hand on her still-swollen belly, the other braced against the wall for support.
"Please," she whispered, unsure if she was addressing the baby or some higher power. "Please, let this be quick."
But it wasn't quick. Hours passed, and still the second twin refused to emerge. Mei Lin tried every position she could think of - squatting, standing, lying on her side. Nothing worked.
Exhaustion threatened to overwhelm her. She had already been through so much - the fight with Gao's men, the grueling first birth. How much more could her body take?
As another contraction wracked her body, Mei Lin found herself on her hands and knees. She stayed there, the cool floor offering some small relief against her feverish skin.
"Please, little one," she begged, her voice hoarse and trembling. "Please come out. Your sister is waiting for you. I'm waiting for you."
She pushed with all her might, over and over again. Sweat poured down her face, mingling with tears of exhaustion and frustration.
"I can't do this," she sobbed. "I can't..."
But even as the words left her mouth, she knew they weren't true. She was Mei Lin, master swordswoman, protector of the weak. She had faced down armies, survived the loss of her husband, brought one child into the world alone. She could do this.
With a guttural cry, Mei Lin gathered the last reserves of her strength. She bore down, pushing harder than she ever had before.
And finally, finally, she felt movement.
"Yes," she gasped. "That's it. Come on, little warrior. You're almost here."
With one last, monumental effort, Mei Lin felt the second baby slip free. She turned, catching the tiny body in her trembling hands.
This baby didn't cry immediately. For a heart-stopping moment, Mei Lin feared the worst. Then, as if sensing her panic, the infant let out a thin wail.
Mei Lin laughed through her tears, bringing the baby to her chest. "There you are," she murmured. "What a journey you've had."
This one was a boy, smaller than his sister but with a fierce grip that spoke of his strength. Mei Lin cleaned him as best she could, then brought both babies together.
As she looked down at her unexpected twins, a wave of love and protectiveness washed over her. They were tiny, vulnerable, perfect. And they were hers.
"My little warriors," she whispered. "My son, my daughter. I don't know what challenges lie ahead of us, but I promise you this - we will face them together. You are the children of a swordswoman and a scholar. You have the strength of your father's mind and your mother's arm. And you will never, ever be alone."
Outside, the sun had completed its journey across the sky. Night was falling, bringing with it a gentle breeze that whispered of new beginnings.
Mei Lin settled back against the wall, a baby in each arm. She was exhausted, sore, and more terrified than she'd ever been in her life. But she was also filled with a fierce joy and determination.
This was not the future she had planned. But as she looked at her children's faces, she knew it was the future she was meant to have. And whatever came next, she would be ready.

Winning In Romance || Kashimo x Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: Part 2 of Losing In Romance! You are attempting to distance yourself from Kashimo, but your parents aren't fond of this. A new potential suitor supposedly is here to swoon you, but Kashimo's never fought in love has he? Warnings: Kashimo is new to love, dumb kashimo, possessive kashimo, fluff, somewhat angst, angst but happy ending.
Kashimo had noticed your shift in demeanor right away. That night when he'd returned home, he'd felt the cold eerie darkness that presented itself as he had to turn on the lights throughout the house. He made sure to be as quiet as possible, making sure not to disturb you, but it seems you were far too busy crying. Kashimo frowned as he heard your sniffles and gulps from behind your bedroom door. You both shared separate bedrooms and for a moment he just stood outside your door. His knuckles brushing against the wood but retracting as he decided to go to bed not wanting to disturb you. That following morning he'd awoke to you already gone, apparently you'd went to visit a friend. Your presence still lingered with the soft warm breakfast you'd prepared for him, like everyday. Kashimo had ate it as usual, not wasting a drop. He always thought your food was delicious, enjoying watching you cook, however today it felt duller without you being there to enjoy it with him. He remembers how you jokingly interrogated him on whether it actually tasted good or not. The fun memory playing in his head as he sighs finishing the food, leaning back on the chair becoming lost in his thoughts on the current situation. It was not a particularly good feeling in the morning. You on the other hand, currently were sobbing into your friends arms from heartbreak. Kirara softly pat your head, their other hand comforting your back as you continued crying on their shoulder. "It's okay, you can let it all out," they whisper as you hiccup and struggle to breath.
After awhile, you end up calming down, deciding to finally eat the food you'd prepared and brought to Kirara's residence. You ate slowly as your eyes were puffy and sore from crying. Your clogged nose didn't make things better as you tried to take in the scent of your delicious creation. Kirara was a great friend of yours, you'd met them through Kashimo and your friendship bloomed. It made sense, the people you both cherished were great friends so it was only natural you'd both be too. A whine escaped your lips as you ate another spoonful of food in dismay.
Kirara had gotten up and came back with a cup of warm tea, your favorite flavor too. You couldn't help but smile, it's the little things friends do that are the best, you thought. Mouthing a thank you to Kirara who shushed you, "don't speak while eating, you'll choke!" They only made you scoff, seeing your lightened mood Kirara decided to address the problem at hand, "I understand why you feel this way y/n, and Kashimo, but he didn't have to be such an ass! That Hakari too- I'll make sure to beat some common sense into them," they stated fuming. Kirara disliked seeing you in such a state and although they could see the unfortunate circumstances you were in with Kashimo.
They truly felt that Kashimo had crossed a line with Hakari, "Kashimo should've- should've at least delivered it better!" Kirara huffed, her hands crossing in annoyance as she threw herself back on the couch next to you. You could only stare at her grimly, unsure of what to do. It wasn't like the confession was false but it just cut deeper hearing it yourself.
You decided to spend the whole day with Kirara, working together in emotional healing and preparation. Mainly because you would have to return to your shared residence since eventually yours and Kashimo's family would come knocking. They clearly could care less about how we're actually doing, you think.
You didn't want to drag Kirara into this but it seemed they were determined to do something. Mentioning how they'd "definitely have a talk," how "kashimo doesn't even realize what you've been through," and that "he is so stupid". You weren't particularly worried what Kirara would do, just making sure to reason with them to not make things worse.
Kirara of course promised to not do anything reckless, and afterwards it was just a huge emphasis on facing Kashimo back home. You ended up staying a week at Kirara's in no rush as you didn't want to reveal yourself in such a weak state, only returning home one afternoon.
Tumblr media
You felt horrible for only arriving back to the residence now, however you didn't feel well enough to see him in the morning. It was a sickening feeling you didn't know how to describe. Small sweat began to form on your face, as your hands were shaking from attempting to turn your keys, and from holding your breath as you carefully slid open the door. Only to find that Kashimo had fallen asleep on the couch. You felt yourself breath again as you silently shut the door, but that didn't seem to hide anything because the next thing you knew Kashimo was sitting up wide awake. Staring at you, grounding you in place.
You didn't dare speak a word, you didn't even know what to say, you felt like a deer caught in the headlights. You could tell he wasn't happy though. His beautiful cyan hair was a mess, curls sticking out unnaturally, he had eye bags under his now dull golden eyes, and his body seemed to lean towards you in a daze. "You're back.." Kashimo states as he gets up and moves towards you. He reaches his hand out to cup your cheek and winces when you flinch at his touch. His hands were cold and unfamiliar, you normally wouldn't mind but it was extremely awkward considering the situation.
Finding your voice again you decided to move, "um- yeah sorry wasn't well, don't worry though everything's fine!" you hurriedly say, attempting to go pass him. The attempt fails as Kashimo uses his body to block you, his strong arms clasping your shoulders to hold you still.
Kashimo doesn't know what to say so he just blurts out, "I'm sorry! I didn't want to sound that way, I know it wasn't right of me to inform you that way! I- I um, you're wonderful and well- please forgive me! Oh or don't, that's okay, you can hit me if it feels better!" You're in a state of shock as Kashimo lets you go and proceeds to lower himself onto his knees. Glancing up at you with eyes now filled with determination as he goes below your height. You can't help but laugh at the sight, he is so cute dammit, you think to yourself, hands anxiously fiddling. As quickly as possible you push him back to stand, "I don't want to hit you, and don't worry, I'm hurt but it is what it is, we'll work through it," you say softly. You could tell his apology was genuine, with the way he was glancing at you now like a puppy. This was just how it was though, one sided love, you thought.
You wanted to make yourself clear however, "we can just have everything fall back into place, soon our families will step in, they're the ones who brought this whole mess after all," you state in a hopeful tone. In truth, you didn't want to remain distant with him, he was still a good man, but this was for the best. Kashimo stood up straight again, but his face was unreadable. It made you feel uncomfortable to not know, but the reality was actually because Kashimo didn't know how to feel. His lips were pulled tight together, as your words settled.
The thought of you and him separating didn't seem pleasing to him, it never really did but for him, he thinks it is due to him never having had an actual lover. Kashimo couldn't grasp the swirl of emotions inside him now, but he knows he dislikes what you're saying. It is a sudden strong dislike that has him slumping his shoulders further in guilt.
He felt like a real jerk, he knew he couldn't take his words back, what he did wasn't honorable in any way despite him being a warrior. Kashimo began to seriously question what you meant to him whilst you were gone, and it's just then he remembers an incident during your week away.
Tumblr media
How after the 3rd day he'd grown anxious and decided to seek you out. Somehow wounding up at Hakari's house in a state of distress, frantically asking of your whereabouts. Instead of Hakari however, Kirara answered the door. It wasn't strange as they were over at Hakari's quite frequently but their demeanor wasn't friendly. Kirara had welcomed him into the living room where he could see Hakari on the couch in silence. It didn't take him long to realize that Hakari was just being scolded and now him. "I'll cut to the chase, KASHIMO YOU COULDN'T EVEN TELL HER NICELY????" Kirara shouts. Beads of sweat form for Hakari as his hands stay placed nervously on his lap. Kashimo is now seated next to him at a loss of words, he knows Kirara isn't wrong, allowing them to further scold him. "You really broke her ya know! Like she knows already you guys didn't have to rub it in... OH MY GOD-- you don't even know what she already goes through with her family pressuring her AND the bullying she receives from those other bitches!!" Kiara yells as Kashimo's head snaps up confused. "What?" he asks, stupidly so. "What do you mean what? You don't know?? Oh well you never really attended the majority of the parties, but basically you have fangirls that've been harassing y/n about how pathetic this is," Kiara says, hands gesturing at the whole situation as she slumps down on the couch across from the two. Catching her breath from ranting so much and sighing. Kashimo had questioned Kiara after on the severity of the bullying and the bullies themselves. He felt like hitting himself more and more hearing what you had to endure. Kashimo realized he was a true idiot, just because he didn't care about his family that doesn't mean it applies to you. Along with that he hadn't really cared much about reputation, and yours he clearly damaged.
Tumblr media
All of these emotions he felt once again, standing before you now. The weight on his shoulders never seeming to budge, he could see the eye-bags under your eyes, you were exhausted and he was just happy to have you back in his vicinity. "I just want you to know I do not hate you, you're a wonderful and lovely person," he mentions softly. You feel your heart flutter at his words and tone, but the excitement quickly settles. "Thank you, I'll- um good night," you bid farewell to Kashimo deciding to just go rest for the night. Leaving him to his own thoughts as he questions his true feelings for you, mainly the amount of pain in your eyes.
It all goes back to normal the next day, there's an awkward tension hanging in the house. It is accompanied with a comforting blanket though, as you both settle into a friendly routine with each other. You notice that Kashimo is even more attentive than before, offering to help you with tasks like folding laundry (despite being bad at it). The next few days go by when suddenly an invitation for a party arrives. The Kamo clan is holding a ceremony to announce their next clan leader. You would've skipped it this time as after spending much time with Kirara, you were fed up with your families whole talk on "reputation". This invitation was different though, because your good childhood friend Choso Kamo would be attending. Maybe even as the next heir, surely I must make it for him, you think, smiling as at least your friend is okay. You were reading over the letter with Kashimo looking over your shoulder.
You expected him to decline as he doesn't enjoy parties and their over exaggerated formalities, normally leaving you to attend. "I'll come with you," he says instead, and you find yourself appreciating that he doesn't want to leave your side. You both settle the matter and continue on until the day of the party. When the day comes you arrive with Kashimo, hand-in-hand the two of you walk into the large beautiful building on the Kamo estate. The luxurious gardens along with statues and fountains welcome everyone into the main building. Where the party is already lively with music played by an orchestra.
You and Kashimo arrive just in time to greet the soon-to-be previous clan leader. Norotoshi Kamo who welcomes you both, mentioning how lovely it is to see you again, valiantly disregarding Kashimo, much to his annoyance.
It doesn't take long for the crowd to quiet down as Choso is indeed announced as the new clan head. Cheers erupt as everyone begins piling gifts to Choso and dining on the provided feast. You and Kashimo end up separated as you go speak with Choso yourself. "Choso! Over here!" you yell, navigating through a crowd of people who get up to dance. Choso is talking to some other higher ups but he dismisses himself to come speak to you. "Oh shoot- sorry if I interrupted," you say, worried you'll make a bad impression on your friend.
Choso chuckles, "no worries, they're quite boring anyway, how've you been?" he asks after reassuring you. You respond by informing him how things between you and Kashimo have gotten better, "though I have a feeling we may divorce soon" you add solemnly. Choso's eyes widen as he frowns, placing a hand on your shoulder for comfort, "you will find the one," he says, a bit too seriously as his eyes bore into yours. You find yourself giggling at his expression and tone, "goodness you sound like you're declaring war!" you say laughing. Choso looks away for a moment embarrassed, "ah you know I'm not good with words," he says, smiling down at you as he did somehow lift your spirits. You stare up at him in appreciation, "yeah but you're trying your best," you say before being interrupted.
A woman who looks about your age approaches with some other girls, you don't know her well but you recognize that she along with some others are part of the group who consistently mock you. It hasn't been a big issue, but got more intense as your marriage to Kashimo stayed somewhat stale.
"So desperate you're clinging to another man? Not a bad choice though~" she says, snickering at you. The other ladies throw rude glances, some glare directly at you, making you feel so small. You never really knew how to deal with people like them.
Often you opted to just ignore them, giving them the idea that you weren't listening to their nonsense. It didn't matter, as although you imagined yourself giving a clever retort, it just doesn't come out in the form of words. Your hands become sweaty as you feel like you're shrinking.
You don't even realize you're holding your breath until Choso's hand softly taps your waist. His smile comforting you before he turns and quickly reprimands the girls. "How bold you are insulting the wife of the Hajime clans future leader? Are you not aware of the consequences you face?" he questions.
Choso's gaze is nothing short of deadly as some of the ladies back away in fear. The main woman however isn't easily scared, she also held affections for Kashimo from what you remember. "Isn't the wife supposed to be with her husband? Hm? Pathetic how you are even married- Kashimo doesn't deserve this torture!" she yells, not even trying to hide the scene. You begin to panic as you see other people who are eating turn heads towards you. Choso decides to end the matter, walking up to the woman and harshly stating, "you dare place the blame on y/n! You're just jealous you can't even get married and now I see why. How shameful a woman you are, you wouldn't be this honest in front of that Hajime now would you?" he seethes.
This seems to snap the woman out of her confidence as she decides to turn around and leave. You relax as Choso turns towards you, you're just happy it's over. Only to tense up again as he greets your parents, who were approaching the scene from behind you.
Your mother worriedly comes to pull you into a hug, which you melt into. You hear her quietly whispering to you about how "it's okay now", "I'm sorry I couldn't do anything", and "damn your father" in sadness. You know your mom didn't want you to suffer, but father had other plans.
Your dad smiles a bit too lovingly at you and your mother before turning to Choso. "I congratulate you on becoming clan head, it feels like it was just yesterday when you and y/n were playing together, thank you for taking care of my daughter even now," your father says. It all seems rehearsed as your father takes a hold of Choso's hands in a forward gesture of appreciation. Choso is a bit taken aback but just nods in understanding.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile from the other side of the room Kashimo watches. He'd tried to go and save you, anger rising up his throat when he witnessed what happened. But Choso had came to your rescue instead, leaving Kashimo dumbfounded.
Kashimo doesn't know how long he stood in the middle of the dance floor, but it was enough for Hakari to pull him out. He didn't like how you were laughing with Choso before, and he most certainly didn't miss the way Choso's hand had patted you.
Kashimo had never really felt this way, but he began to wonder whether this was what you were feeling. How it felt to be left out, and to not have someone you care about look at you happily. He felt his hand reach over his chest as he couldn't pinpoint this heartthrob feeling.
Hakari watched his friend in emotional turmoil, but before he could speak someone else had cut him off. Kashimo's eyes were fixated on the way Choso had fended off your bullies and who now was talking to your family, in such a familiar manner too. He couldn't help the thought that crossed his mind, how Choso looked like he fit in with your family, with you.
Instantly he was snapped out of his daze as his mother's words sliced through his ears. "You see it too can't you son?" she asks, not letting him respond as she continues, "the way that Kamo fits so well with her, they're already planning on remarrying her".
Kashimo's heart drops, as he glances over at you and Choso speaking again before turning his attention to his mother. "That's nonsense, you're overthinking--" "Oh! Just! I can't even argue with you because they'd make a much better match," his mother states. She huffs at Kashimo who doesn't know what to say. To him, it reminds him of when he was getting scolded as a child, normally he'd talk back but his mother was swift. "I don't even know anymore! Whether I was blessed with you- isn't it funny? Hah! MY SON CAN WIN ALL BATTLES BUT HE CAN'T EVEN WIN IN LOVE". Kashimo feels his shoulders stiffen as he senses your eyes on him, your worried eyes, now glancing at him as his mother lets out all her anger on him. He is sure that everyone is enjoying this drama, but in this moment he can't stand the idea of you being with someone else. He ignores his mother as he holds your gaze, greatly enjoying the fact that you are worried for him, that you care. Kashimo doesn't know but he just decides then that he wants you to be with him. That he doesn't want a divorce, that he wants to be by your side, that he, he is in love with you too.
He was just too stupid, too oblivious to understand that he had developed feelings. He just didn't recognize them, he has only ever understood completely the rush of adrenaline in battle. He hasn't ever really had anyone care for him in such a manner.
Kashimo can feel himself getting jealous as your attention averts away from him as Choso mentions something to you. All he knows is that he doesn't like the idea of you looking at someone else the way you do to him. So he bolts over to your side, he isn't sure what he'll do but he knows it just feels right. You're shocked when Kashimos hands wrap around your waist from behind. You face heats up as he rests his head on your shoulder, his hot breath hitting your neck and causing you to shiver. You don't even register the way he glares at Choso, shooing him away, or even Choso's dismissal of himself. All you know is that Kashimo seems strangely possessive.
It's a completely new sensation. Your hand softly places itself on Kashimo's face as you squirm a bit from his hold, not use to being touched. Kashimo snaps out of his thoughts, successfully having chased Choso off he releases you sensing your discomfort. He doesn't know what to say, nor do as you both stare at each other. Kashimo decides that he is horrible at communication so he just grabs your hand, pulling you along with him outside of the party. You just continue watching his facial expression in confusion as he ushers you outside. His face is serious as a crowd of people part for him, and it makes you wonder whether you did something wrong. You decide to speak first once you're both alone in a secluded section of the gardens out back. "If this is about me and Choso it's not what you think, that girl earlier was just crazy- uh I'm, really sorry," you apologize, gaze shifting downwards as you anticipate his response. Your fingers tightly intertwine and squeeze in worry. You flinch in surprise as he cups your face in his hands, tilting you to look up at him. "That's not it, stop apologizing! It isn't your fault!" he states, gently squishing you cheeks for emphasis. You feel your face warm up as he continues to stare, his eyes moving from yours down to your lips.
Kashimo just finds himself loss in your face at the moment. His brain is thinking about how cute you are, smiling, albeit nervously as your cheeks are squished. He is thinking about how soft your cheeks are, how pretty your eyes are in the sunlight, how adorable your nose is, and how kissable your lips look. Does this even make sense? He doesn't care, in fact he doesn't know how to express it in words, but he tries anyway. "I know I haven't been the ideal partner, and I've been really pathetic, really, but would you still give me a chance to prove myself worthy? These feelings are a bit new, but I want to be with you, I- I'm attracted to you! You're so kind, amazing, ah- I just didn't realize, I do love you..." he blurts, mumbling at the end, letting go of your face as his hands fall to his sides. Kashimo's face is red from embarrassment, he feels much like a child, wanting to grab your hands, and kiss you. However, he doesn't want to cause more damage than he already has. His eyes shift away from you for a moment, he is really scared, and this is new to him too. Kashimo feels like if he loses you, it'd be worser than losing any fight in his life. He instantly becomes concerned as you start crying, you still love him too, and you're just so happy. Happy that he feels the same too, and that these persistent feelings in your heart are now accepted. Your eyes begin overflowing as your vision blurs when you attempt to look at Kashimo clearly. "I'm willing, I'm just so happy! I thought you wouldn't ever- that it was over," you hiccup, smiling still. Kashimo has a major wave of relief wash over him, but it's more than that, it is like a cleansing for a new beginning. He wraps you in his arms again, hugging you to his chest as his hand softly pets your head. He comes close to your ear, "shhhh, I'm here now and I'll be with you from now on," he says glancing lovingly at you. His hand gently moving down to wipe more tears from your face. You calm down as you lean into his touch, his palm feels hot against your skin, glancing up at him you hesitantly ask, "could I kiss you?". He nods, "you don't have to ask, just do it," Kashimo says grinning at your embarrassment. He doesn't let you dwell on the idea as he leans down to kiss you. It is the greatest kiss you've ever had, full of emotional need and warm. Your hands wrap around his neck to pull him down, closer to you as your hand entangles a bit with his cyan hair. His lips are just as soft as you remember, and the kiss goes deeper as you both only part when the need for air is present. You're in a daze as you watch the string of salvia clinging between your lips and his. Your tongue burns slightly from the wrestling you'd been doing with him. It isn't surprising that Kashimo is so passionate when it comes to kissing, as you've imagined a couple times before. The point is that it is much more surreal as you stare at him huffing down at you two. His eyes heavily hooded as he stares at you almost hungrily. Kashimo's hands are holding you again, he sits down on a nearby bench, pulling you onto his lap as he lays on your chest staring up at you dreamily. He decides he wants to protect you at all costs, and that he won't be so stupidly reckless no more. He just wants to spend his time appreciating you and you, with him. He sinks into the way you giggle at him and play with his hair. He is content with starting this new chapter of his life with you, knowing that he was able to win in romance too.
