I'm absolutely losing my mind seeing "We need to not treat men and masculinity as inherently evil and worthy of hatred, and not fall back into biological and gender essentialism because that hurts everyone, including trans women" being misinterpreted as "Women need to stop oppressing men", "I think trans women are actually men" or "You specifically who have trauma around men need to get over it because men are the real victims". It's so willfully disingenuous. It makes me sick how willing people are to read in bad faith, especially how willing other trans women are to suddenly start harassing and dogpiling another trans woman.
I am a trans woman too, I understand what it's like to feel unsafe, but it helps no one this cynical attitude that crops up every time someone suggests being kind to men in our lives. "You could save a man you know from falling down the alt-right pipeline" is not the same as "It's your fault that men murder you". "There are people who could be on our side if we don't meet them with immediate hostility" is not the same as "You need to shut up and stop criticizing power structures for the sake of your oppressors' feelings" (I promise there are a lot of people who can be taught about their complicity in oppression without immediately shutting down but you need to work with them). This kind of attitude isn't somehow more informed or correct. It's just lashing out to avoid considering one's own agency.
Making a better, safer world for ourselves requires all kinds of work, but it's always work. It's hard to try to reach out to people who could very realistically harm us, it's work that not all of us can afford to or are able to do and that's fine because we're all just trying to survive. But some of you would rather condescend, tear each other down, and make more enemies before even considering it a possibility.

My biggest issue with the LGBTQ Community as someone who wants to support them.
^^^ You were warned in the previous post that I was no longer going to pull my punches and I was going to touch on the one thing that is more or less a nuclear bomb nowadays. I know damn well what I am doing and what this will result in, but I am expecting perhaps unfoundedly that people will take the time out of their day to fucking read what I post here out of common sense to see the conclusion. I've been accused of bigotry, Hate crimes, etc. You think it, I've probably been called it or accused of it over this topic. Anyways, down to the nitty gritty and no more beating around the bush so to speak. This is my defacto take on everything and my final statement on the matter. I cannot support those who seek violence and to ruin other people's actual lives. If every word one says is misconstrued or taken offensively, every action one commits taken as an attack, and people are going to sit here and accuse others of being bigots, transphobic, or otherwise over their inability to read others minds and know exactly what they identify as? That is crossing a red line. It is not up to the individuals interacting with people inside the LGBTQ community to know someones sexuality or what they identify as, be it the individual they are interacting with being bi, gay, lesbian, trans, or otherwise. It is up to the individual who identifies as what identify as to let the other person know and educate others not attack them. You gain absolutely nothing by being aggressive to people who just don't know or don't understand. This isn't hate speech, this isn't a reality check, this is a reminder to always choose non-violence surrounding this topic. The LGBTQIA+ community did not start out seeking to ruin others lives, they started out with love and compassion in mind. The desire to gain their rights and not have to walk the streets feeling fear of being attacked. The turns I have been seeing are something I cannot support, I cannot support that type of path. What I will support is those who do so peacefully and those who wish to co-exist with love in their hearts. I want the same thing you all want, a world where anyone can be who they are freely. So stop trying to make enemies with those who do not want to be your enemy.

A list of side effects and risks for mtf estrogen:
This is thanks to a friend, she gets full credit for this post.
"Some takeaways: almost none of the studies report that estrogen does anything positive to male bodies, except lowering blood pressure in young people and stopping balding
Essentially most of the articles were freaking out about how we need more high quality data to determine if estrogen is safe or not, but of the studies I went through:"
Risks associated with estrogen use by men found:
Heart Risks: Venous Thromboembolism (VTE): 9 articles
Myocardial Infarction (MI): 5 articles
Ischemic Stroke: 5 articles
Other Cardiovascular Events: 6 articles
Fertility Risks: 6 articles
Cancer Risks: 8 articles
Key Dangers that evidence found in MTF people:
Dangers to the Heart:
Venous Thromboembolism (VTE): Increased risk reported across multiple studies.
Myocardial Infarction (MI): Elevated risk associated with estrogen therapy.
Ischemic Stroke: Increased incidence observed in studies.
Other Cardiovascular Events: General cardiovascular disease risks
Dangers to Fertility: Impacts on spermatogenesis and testicular health, with some studies noting fertility preservation in a portion of trans women.
Dangers to Cancer Risk: Potential increased risk for breast cancer and other hormone-sensitive malignancies. Dangers that are suspected based on know qualities of estrogen:
Cancer Risks: Potential increased risk for specific cancers beyond breast cancer, such as papillary thyroid cancer and other hormone-sensitive malignancies.
Liver Toxicity: Concerns regarding hepatotoxic effects and liver integrity due to long-term estrogen use.
Cardiac Arrhythmias: Suggested increase in the rates of cardiac arrhythmias in some studies, although direct causation remains unclear.
Gallbladder Issues: Potential association with gallstones and pancreatitis, but more research is needed for conclusive evidence.
Long-term Bone Health: Uncertainty about how long-term estrogen use affects bone density and overall bone health.
Psychiatric Effects: Speculation about possible mood changes or psychiatric effects, though this is often individualized and not well documented.
Metabolic Changes: Concerns about changes in metabolism and body composition, including the risk of obesity, but conclusive links remain to be established.
On regaining fertility after estrogen:
After an average of three years on estrogen, ony 40% of trans women will still be fertile. After discontinuation of hormones, 66% will get their fertility back (with the span of the study), and most of the people observed had impaired semen quality after stopping. The contributing factor may be the age when hormones were started, with older people being more protected.
But hey, I'm just an alarmist.

This brings up a question I've always had why DO so many people call Edelgard a revolutionary what am I missing? She's point for point like all politicians who claim it's for the good of the country and go back to how things were when it's just an excuse. Like I don't like bringing real world stuff into this but Israel and Netenyahu? Russia and Putin? Make America great again and Trump? They all use the exact same tactics calling the other side the enemy it's all by strength alone (please ignore the system you just aren't strong enough listen to me I'll save you from the evil scapegoat I'm telling you about), using only people close to them to put into positions of power, it's honestly shocking people are blind to this??? Then again they seem to think the church is just like our church when they're barely alike so idk
We really failed as a fandom tbh.
When the game presents an imperialist autocrat pretending to be (and believing she is) a revolutionary and who sides with terrorists who committed a genocide without much pushback beyond insults until she gets what she wants because, to her and her jackass evil butler, their useful power outweighs being fucking evil and making things terrible.
And a significant portion of the audience says "yes actually, she's a revolutionary who wants to bring change and everyone who's against her wants to maintain a toxic status quo, especially the genocide victim whose warnings and instructions were ignored by humanity."
Despite the fact that, for as much as she claims she's future focused, she fucking venerates the past to an insane degree. She thinks things were better when the other countries didn't exist; she believes things are better when one person on the imperial throne gets to call the shots with no checks on that power (like, just because it's not an inherited position anymore, doesn't mean it's good, since the subjects still don't have a voice); she compliments a past when merit and strength (concepts that are just as brittle and easily taken advantage of as birth status) were what got people high positions without consideration of those below the shot-caller; she thinks things were better when Nabateans had no ability to participate in how things operate-in their own birthplace mind you-because she doesn't view them as beings capable of emotion, logic, or rationality.
Edelgard is a rough textbook example of the evils of modern conservatism, wanting to return to an inequitable and oppressive power structure of the past that shut the majority out while claiming "oh just be better at your job, you whiner." And no amount of her feeling "uwu sad" about her actions changes the fact that she's still doing them.

tired of existing on a spectrum of "kawaii japan!!" to "japanese people are pedos and fascists".
tired of people confusing japanese and nikkei culture with the culture of empire.
tired of no one in my life being excited for my language reclamation because anime speak is so common.
tired of the phrase "ethnically homogenous".
tired of my elders being traumatized into sharing their worst, most shameful memories of incarceration because they are terrified when the same things are happening here AGAIN.
and it is so... utterly draining when i see a thousand and one opinions on the AI miyazaki generator that focus on the iconography or ethics of his works and i just keep thinking about how many japanese hands made western animation possible. rankin-bass stop motion was animated in japan. ralph bakshi's tolkein adaptations and the last unicorn were animated by the animators who would form studio ghibli. inspector gadget, rainbow brite, the adventures of sonic the hedgehog, batman: the animated series, gargoyles, ducktales, the animaniacs are ALL from tms entertainment's contract work. i definitely see the AI generator as an attack on an artist who has expressed only disdain for the concept, but also, japanese animators have been generating your art on both sides of the pacific for longer than most of the people on tumblr have been alive. are you actually upset about exploitation of japanese arts or do you just have proximity to the current topic?
can you see the exploitation when it doesn't affect your interests or if you couldn't find a video essay on the topic?

Okay me angy here I go getting riled up again! If I see any more pisscourse about ace/aro not being part of the queer community, queer is a slur, men are inherently evil monsters, I’m just gonna assume you’re a TERF. Ace discourse back in the 10’s is exactly how TERFs started their rise to power.
Start out by drawing a line in the sand that (awful) people agree with. Now there’s proof that you can start boxing in certain identities. That means (general) you can start making specific definitions for things.
Queer is now a slur again. Queer actually hasn’t been reclaimed. People agree with that. You’ve just torn down an umbrella identity that everyone was able to gather under and unite behind.
LGBTQIA+ is actually the Correct Way to talk about the queer community. Actually we need to drop QIA+ because queer is a slur, intersex isn’t a sexuality/gender and is just a weird medical condition, and A stands for allies (instead of aro/ace bc we already decided that they aren’t part of the community) and we don’t want those sick CisHets infiltrating our community.
LGBT is now the proper accepted term. That means you must be Gay Lesbian Bisexual and/or Transgender to be part of the community. If you aren’t doing LGBT correctly then you are trying to infiltrate the community and steal resources (and those resources are never defined). Only LGBT people are safe.
Oh, except bisexuals. They’re dirty cheaters bc they get to pass as straight and thus aren’t Oppressed Enough like us Pure Gays. How dare they be into men. Only Good Gays get to be into men. If a lesbian ever thought about a man in any vague romantic/sexual way then they are Impure. Men are the true evil of the world bc patriarchy. The only type of man you’ll be safe with is a gay man bc they don’t want to SA you when they see your shoulders/ankles.
All men are the root of all evil, except our good example gay men, who coincidentally are usually white and follow the good gay stereotypes, which are feminine in nature. Femininity is Good and Safe. You can trust anyone who is Feminine, and you can distrust anyone who is Masculine. Men only exist to take advantage of women. Women must be protected at all costs.
Wait. We allow transgender people in the community. That means either a Dirty Evil Man is cosplaying as a woman, or a Pure Innocent Girl got taken in by the evils of masculinity and patriarchy. Trans people are bad since they are being taken over by Evil Men, and/or trying to infiltrate the community, which we already decided is bad. Trans people aren’t Pure. The T in LGBT gets dropped.
Also if you’re nonbinary someone pulled the wool over your eyes. It’s just a phase and you’ll fall into Woman Lite soon enough. There’s no such thing as an amab nonbinary person. Men are evil, and nonbinary is Woman Lite. If you dress in any way that’s not feminine or androgynous then you are doing it wrong.
Congrats, you are now a TERF.
And before you say “that’s not what happened!” I saw every single one of these talking points come out in real time. It was slow. It wasn’t sudden. It was pushing the boundary little by little until you boiled the frog. And now with acecourse coming up again I can all but guarantee that this cycle will happen again. So! Some things to look out for and deprogram.
All men are not inherently evil. All women are not inherently good. Masculinity isn’t inherently evil. Femininity isn’t inherently good. Queer is not a slur and is an extremely useful umbrella term for those who don’t know which label they fit under, or who don’t want a specific label. Yes, queer can still be used as a slur (I have been called queer in a derogatory way) but it is one the community has reclaimed. Trans people aren’t trying to trick you. Amab nonbinary people aren’t “lesser” than afab nonbinary people. Nonbinary is not Woman Lite. There is no such thing as a morally pure sexuality. The queer community is welcome for all who identify as queer; yes, even that person. Policing and oppression olympics is not a litmus test for “pure enough” for joining the queer community. The queer community is for Everyone. That’s it. That’s all.

shower... (everyday life in the modern world)
Washing  under the rain shower with bodywash, the soft scent of elemi and ginseng. His head relaxed and hot from the chaotic flow of water. Short sighted he can  see the streams ofwater close tohis eyes. drops, streams. chaos. In this position without moving his head he count 15 streams of water in front of my eyes, look down at my feet my legs and feet are out of focus.
He turn off the shower,  puts the sponge on the wire shelf,  looks at the soap suds on the base, and wipe the glass panels clean with the plastic squeegee. Steps out of the shower and towels almost dry, the multicoloured towelling dressing gown will absorb the remaining dampness. Behind him a soft thud, soft bang as the squeegee falls onto the shower tray. he almost ignores it and thinks "I can leave it, pick it up tomorrow and then thinks of what my partner will do and say"  ... [and in a gesture towards his engineering past think of all the "uncompleted systems we built, and enabled to be made. Systems never completed, the lifecycle of data, the archives never built, and the mountains of useless information.]  We shouldn't live like that he thinks and step back into the shower and hangs the squeegee off the wire shelf where it lives...

Do you think in The Year of Our Lord 2024, we can finally stop gatekeeping/policing the labels people use to best suit their identity/sexuality?
God, people, I thought we were a community.
