I was distraught thinking about all the aran weight projects i suddenly wanted to knit but i dont usually keep aran yarn and I'm BANNED from buying more yarn and also I am bad at spinning anything above sport weight and it would take a while any ways……

except....

I do have aran yarn.....aran rug yarn that is....

#the projects I wanna do are all vests.....so the scratchyness is a non issue.....#i have 2 giant cones the only problem is i got them many years ago from a shop that doesnt sell it anymore #and ive used it to make rugs obviously #but like. tiny rugs i use as coasters #so i have emailed the ppl who sell it hopefully they saved the info #ive sincw started spinning for rug yarn and i love it #but again its sport weight (and i double it) so it doesnt really work well with the commercial stuff #the cones are just taking a frankly massive amount of shelf space now #never seen a 2kg cone of yarn before or since lol #i hope they respond #since the yarns were gotten to be woven together they would also make an amazing jacket and vest set #if i have enough #knitting #yarn

that article going around abt firefox's new ad program is annoying bc it's phrased as though "mozilla has finally TURNED on its people and is SELLING YOU OUT for cold hard cash!!" when. that's not what's happening. it is specifically being implemented to discourage tracking behavior, and literally all the data they are giving to advertisers is aggregate and anonymized, which is like, the opposite of what that post wants you to worry about, lol

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

can you believe that we have fanfiction. that we have websites dedicated to fanfiction. that there is a place that you can go and read tens, hundreds, thousands and thousands of pieces of writing that strangers have made. people who are not "writers". people who come home at the end of the day and have feelings and say, i am going to put that into words. i am going to share those words. short, long, sweet, sad, horny, funny, wonderful words. we are all just human and we all love to make and remake and share that with others. can you believe that.

Expanding a thought from a conversation this morning:

In general, I think "Is X out-of-character?" is not a terribly useful question for a writer. It shuts down possibility, and interesting directions you could take a character.

A better question, I believe, is "What would it take for Character to do X?" What extremity would she find herself in, where X starts to look like a good idea? What loyalties or fears leave him with X as his only option? THAT'S where a potentially interesting story lies.

In practice, I find that you can often justify much more from a character than you initially dreamed you could: some of my best stories come from "What might drive Character to do [thing he would never do]?" As long as you make it clear to the reader what the hell pushed your character to this point, you've got the seed of a compelling story on your hands.
