Treatise on why No, the doctor just giving the narrator of Fight Club (full name) his requested sleep medication or sending him to therapy would not have Fixed Him
Firstly, saying giving him the insomnia meds would’ve fixed him ignores the reason he has insomnia in the first place. He is so deeply upset by his place in society that he literally cannot sleep. Drugging him to sleep would not change that. That, of course, is the easy, quick response.
But with regard to therapy? The biggest flaw is that it ignores a central tenet of the book. Part of what tortures the narrator and drives him to invent Tyler is that his feelings about this collective, systemic issue are constantly reduced to a Just Him thing. His seatmates ask what his company is. He’s the only one upset at the office. He gets weird looks if he says the truth of what he does. People will do anything in their power to pretend he is the issue, as an individual, because it is far scarier to consider the full implications of the systemic issues implied by what he is saying. Everyone treats it as if the issue is him, so he goes insane. He does anything to get someone to say, holy shit, that’s fucked up, what you’re a part of is wrong. In an attempt to feel any sort of vague sympathy and catharsis, he goes to support groups to pretend to be dying, because then at least people don’t habitually blame him for his anguish.
Saying therapy would fix him ignores that his problems are not individual. They are collective. It’s the reason the entire story resonates with people! Something deeply, unignorably wrong with society, where people would rather blame you for bringing it up than try and address it, because it feels impossible. I don’t blame people for this, really, because it IS scary. It’s terrifying to sit and feel like you’ve realized there’s something deeply, deeply wrong, but if you say something, people will get mad at you since it’s so baked into everything around you. Or, even if they agree, it’s easier to deal with the dissonance by pretending it’s individual.
And it’s not like that’s not the purpose therapy and medications largely serve, anyway. Getting into dangerous territory for this website, but ultimately, the reason the narrator was seeking medication was because it’s a bandaid. A very numbing bandaid. For these very large, dissonance causing problems, therapy does very little. Medications do what they always have, and distract you with numbness or side effects. It’s a false solution. He is seeking an individualized false solution because he has been browbeaten with the idea that this is an issue with him alone, when it's plainly clear it's not.
Don't get me wrong. Obviously he has something wrong with him. But it's a product of his situation. It is a fictional exaggeration of a very real occurrence of mental illness provoked by deep unconscionable dissonance and anguish.  There is a clear correlation between what happens and his mental state and his job and how isolated he is.
The thing is, even if he were chemically numbed, I do think he would’ve lost it regardless. Many people on meds find they don’t fix things. For reasons I’ll get into, but in this case because even if numbed or distracted, once you’ve learned about deep, far reaching corruption in society, it’s very hard to forget. Especially if, in his case, you literally serve as the acting hand of this particular variety. He’s crawling up the walls.
So why do people say this?  Well, it's funny I guess. Maybe the first time or whatever. But also, often, they believe it, to a degree. Maybe they've just been told how effective therapy and meds are for mental illness, they believe wholeheartedly in The Disease Model of Mental Illness, maybe they themselves have engaged with either and have considered it successful. Maybe they or someone they know has been 'saved' by such treatments.
But in all honesty.... What therapy can help with is mentality, it's how you approach problems. For issues on a smaller scale, not meaning they are easier to deal with my any degree, but ones that are not raw and direct from deep awareness of corruption; these are things that can be worked through if you get lucky and get an actually good therapist who helps build up your resiliency. But when your issue is concrete, something large and inescapable? It's useless. At best it can help you develop coping mechanisms, but there is a limit for that. There is a point where that fails. To develop the ability to handle something like this requires intense development of a comfort with ambiguity and dissonance and being isolated and a firm positioning of your purpose and values and and belief in wonder and all the other shit I ramble about. The things that the narrator lacks, which lead him to taking an ineffectual death knell anarchist self-destruction path. Therapy, where the narrator is, full of the knowledge of braces melted to seats and all the people that have to allow this to happen? It fails.
And meds — meds are a fucking scam. We know the working mechanism of basically none of them, the serotonin receptor model was made up and paid its way into prominence. We have very little evidence they're any better than placebo, and they come with genuinely horrific side effects. Maybe you got lucky. I did, on some meds. On others? I don't remember 2018. The pharmaceutical industry is also known for rampant medical ghostwriting, and for creating 'off-label' uses for drugs that have gained too many protests in their original use, then creating a cult of use to then have 'grassroots' campaigns for it to be made a label use (ie, legitimize their ghostwritten articles with guided anecdotes).
The DSM itself is basically a marketing segregation plot. It's an attempt to legitimize the disease model by isolating subgroups of symptoms to propose individualized treatments for subgroups that are not necessarily all that separate. But if the groups exist, you can prescribe more and different medications, no? Not to mention, if you use the disease model, you can propose that these diseases are permanent, or permanent until treated, considered more and more severe to offset and justify the horrific side effects of the medications. Do you know why male birth control doesn't really exist? Same reason. They can justify all the horrible side effects for women, because the other option is pregnancy. For men, it's nothing.
And they're not bothering to invent new drugs without side effects. When they invent new drugs it's just because the last one got too bad of a name, or they can enter a new market. Modern drugs don't work any better than gen1 drugs. They still have horrific side effects. At best, the industry will shit out studies saying the old one was flawed (truth) so they can say this new gen will be better (lie). They're doing it with ssris right now.
Fundamentally, the single proposed benefit of any of these drugs is that they numb you. To whatever is torturing you. It's harder to be depressed if you can't feel it, or if you just can't muster the same outrage. Of course, there is people who find that numbness to be helpful, or worth it. But often, it's stasis. For the people who have problems that can be worked on, it serves as a stopgap to not actually work on said problems. The natural outcome of the disease model is stagnation for those whose need is to develop skills and resiliency. It keeps them medicalized and dependent on the idea that they're diseased and incapable. Profitable. Stuck in the womb.
I’ve been there. It’s easier, to wallow, and resist growth because it’s difficult and painful and unfair and cruel and you can think of five billion reasons to justify your languishing. But don’t listen to anyone who tells you you’re just permanently damaged, no matter how nicely they word it, no identity or novel pathologization, no matter how many benefits they promise, especially if they swear up and down some lovely expensive medications with little solid backing and plentiful off-label usage and side effects that’ll kill you. Some days it feels like they want us all stuck in pods, agoraphobic and addicted to the ads they feed us to isolate the markets for the drugs they’ve trained us to beg them to pump us with. Polarization making it as easy as flashing blue light for go, red like for stop, or vice versa. I worry about the kids, for fucks sake. That’s a bit dark and intense, and I apologize. But I want you (generic) to understand, there is a profit motive. Behind everything. And they do not mean well. They do not care about your mental health or your rights or your personhood or your growth. They care about how they can profit off of you.
For those struggling with immovable, society problems, like the narrator grappling with how his job fits into and is accepted by society while his rejection and horror in the face of it does not, it can work about as well as any other drug addiction. Your mileage may vary. From what I've seen, recovering from being on prozac for a long time can be worse than alcohol. They put kids on this shit. They keep campaigning for more. Off label, again. A pharmaceutical company’s favorite thing to do has to be to spread rumors of someone who knows someone who said an off label use of this drug helps with this little understood condition. Or, in the case of mental illness, questionably defined condition. And like, damn, I know I'm posting on the 'medicalization is my identity' website so no one will like all this and has probably stopped reading by now, but yall should be exposed to at least one person who doubts this stuff. Doesn't just trust it. Because I mean, that's the thing right?
It's so big. What would it mean, for this all to be true? Yeah, everyone says pharmaceutical companies are evil and predatory and ghostwriting, but to think about what that really entails. Coming back to the book, everyone knows the car lobby is huge and puts dangerous vehicles through that kill people. What does it mean if the car companies all hire people to calculate the cost of a recall and the cost of lawsuits? No one wants to think about the scale that means for people allowing it or the systems that have to be geared towards money, not safety like they say. Hell, even Chuck misses the beat and has the narrator threaten his boss with the Department of Transportation. And shit, man, if every company is doing this, you think Transportation doesn't know? That they give a fuck? You're better off mailing all the evidence to the news outlets and hoping they only character assassinate you a little bit as they release the news in a way that says it's all the fault of little workers like you, not the whole system. Something something, David McBride, any whistleblower you feel like, etc.
So I don't blame you, if your reaction is "but but but, that can't be right, people wouldn't do it, they wouldn't allow it" or just an overwhelming feeling of dread that pushes you to deny all of this and avoid thinking about it. Just know, that's in the book. That's all the seatmates on the flights. That's all his fellow officemates. It's easier to pretend, I know.
But think about, how the response fits in with the themes of the book. The story, as a movie too. What drives the narrator’s mental breakdown? How would you handle being in his position? How would you handle being his seatmate? It’s easy to say you’d listen. But have you? Have you had any soul wrenching betrayals of how you thought society worked? How about a betrayal by the thing that promised to be the fix of the first? Can you honestly say you wouldn’t follow that gut instinct, saying follow what everyone says, that person must just be crazy, evil, rude, cruel, whatever it is that means you can set what they said aside?
For a lot of people, they can do that, I guess. Set it aside. Reaching that aforementioned state of managing to cope with the dissonance and ambiguity and despair is very hard. The narrator made the Big Realization, but he couldn’t cope. He self-destructed. Even when people don’t make the big realization consciously, they’re already self-destructing. It’s hard to escape it when it feels easier than continuing anyway. When it feels like the only option,
Would therapy fix the narrator of Fight Club? Would meds fix the narrator of Fight Club? No. He knows too much. All meds will do, by the time he’s in the psych ward, is spiritually neuter him. A silly phrase, but really. Take the wind out of his sails.
Is he fixed if he doesn’t try to blow up town? If he just shuts up and settles in and stops costing money? If he still can’t cope with the things he’s unearthed? Do you see how this is a commentary in a commentary in a commentary?
Fight Club is an absolutely fascinating story because of this. The fact that it addresses the fallout of knowing. The isolation. The hopelessness. The spiral that results from a lack of hope. This is, I think, what resonates most with people, even if not consciously. Going insane because you’ve discovered something you wish you could unknow. It’s a classic horror story. Should our society be lovecraftian evil? I don’t think so.
Do I think changing it will be easy? No. Lord knows a lot exists to push people who make these sorts of Realizations towards feelings of individuality and individualized solutions and denial and other distractions and coping methods. And to prevent people who make One realization from expanding on it and considering further ramifications. Fight Club itself gets into this; the isolation of men being a strict part of the role society shapes for their sex leaves them very vulnerable to death fetishes, in a sense, and generally towards self destructive violence. It helps funnel them away from substantial change and towards ineffectual change. Many things, misogyny, racism, serve to keep people isolated from one another, individualized, angry, and impossible to work with. Market segregation; god knows even appealing on those fronts has become such a classic ploy that companies do it now, the US military frames its plundering that way, etc.
I’ve wandered a bit but ultimately, my point is this: Fight Club is a love letter to the horrors of critical thinking, and the importance of not falling into the trap of self destruction and hopelessness in the face of it. The latter is why Tyler was an anarchoterrorist instead of anything useful. The latter is why it was a death cult. It’s important to work through the horrors of critical thinking so you can do it, and stand on the other side ready to believe in each other. It’s worth it.

it’s been a day since the kiss, and you still haven’t told a single soul. for some reason, you’re way too scared to admit what happened to your roommates, even though you know they’d be the last to judge you for it.
and yet you just can’t, despite the fact that it’s been eating you alive for over twenty-four hours straight. saying it out loud makes it real, so you decided it was best to keep it inside.
however, you still need to give chris his jersey back, which you’ve been neglecting to do because you don’t want to see him.
or maybe because you’re scared.
it’s an involuntary thought, and it makes you angry. there’s nothing to be scared of, because he doesn’t have any power over you.
right?
you grab his jersey off the top of your dresser. it’s all clean, and it still smells like detergent from when you washed it yesterday. you’ve been putting it off all day, and it’s time for that to stop.
the sun is nearly gone, so you head down the stairs, silently thankful that ramona and cassidy are both are both runnings errands as you slip out the front door.
you’re in your comfy clothes, black sweats and baby blue hoodie that you stole from cass, and you’re immediately regretting the fact that you didn’t grab a jacket.
you hurry across the lawn, passing the cars parked in the driveway. there’s an unfamiliar red one at the end, and it almost makes you pause, but the possibility doesn’t fully connect in your mind yet.
so you head up the steps and knock on the door loudly, still very much so a woman on a mission.
it takes a moment, a long moment, before someone comes to open it for you. it’s connor, which is unfortunate, because you really weren’t prepared to speak with anyone besides the one boy you’re actually looking for.
he looks a little confused, but he smiles nonetheless. “what’s up?”
“i’m just, uh, trying to drop off chris’s jersey.” any bit of confidence you had is gone now as you choke on your words.
connor’s eyes widen a little as his grin fades, though you can tell he’s trying to play it off. “he’s a little busy right now, but i’ll get it to him.”
your eyebrows furrow as he reaches his arms out, like he’s trying to rush the process along without any more interrogation.
“busy with what?” you question, though you hand it over regardless.
he looks at you for just a half a second too long, like he’s waiting for you to piece it together, and then it clicks. chris is busy because he has a girl over, and that’s her car in the driveway.
you wish it didn’t phase you, but you can feel your face morphing into an emotion that borders disgust and anger.
“oh, i see.” is all you say, because you’re already fucking embarrassed beyond belief.
you turn and head back down the stairs, trying to ignore the way your stomach is flipping like you’re going to throw up.
connor doesn’t say anything. instead you hear the door close, and you feel completely numb as you walk back to your own porch. part of it is because of the cold, and part of it is because you feel so stupid.
you’re not sure what you were expecting, but that was exactly what you should’ve anticipated knowing chris.
you step back into the warmth of your own home, and even when you close and lock the door, a shiver chases you.
you head back up to your bedroom, kicking your shoes off by the door. you want further confirmation, so you peek through the curtains that hang over your window.
chris’s room, which is coincidentally directly across from yours, reveals nothing besides a dim light that peeks through the closed blinds.
you let the drapes fall back into place, still in shock. it was so ridiculous to believe for even a second that he was any different than he had been for the last six months.
you should’ve taken him at his word. he doesn’t date, and he’s not interested in you beyond teasing you or making you look like an idiot.
and you refuse to be taken for a fool.
you pace along the floor for a second until you decide you deserve some wine. you know there’s at least half a bottle in the fridge, and maybe it’ll help you calm the hell down.
a few minutes later you’re back upstairs, huddled up in your bed with a book you had started earlier in the day, sipping from your glass as you read.
it’s hard to fall into the fantasy world you picked out at first, but then you begin to feel your cheeks flush and your eyes are suddenly devouring the words.
you’re so enveloped in the plot, completely unaware that your roommates had gotten home until ramona walks in. it startles you, so much so that you lose your page.
she pauses to take in your state; the empty glass, the minimal leftovers in the bottle you brought with you, your droopy eyes.
“wine before 7 p.m. on the lord’s day? you’re crazy.” she jokes with a grin.
you shrug, also smiling a little bit. “felt like getting a little wild.”
mona puts a hand on her hip and nods toward the door she just entered through. “well, could i maybe convince you to take this crazy train downstairs so we can catch up on VPR? we’re like, three episodes behind now.”
you snap your book closed and roll out of bed, which you can tell by her snort looks far from graceful.
“all you had to say was VPR.”
you sit at your desk, gnawing on your bottom lip as you try to focus on the stupid online homework prompts that are due soon. the overcast afternoon light pours into your room, and you hear your phone buzz against the wood.
chris
still playing hard to get?
you roll your eyes before you can help it. the text doesn’t surprise you, because he’s been messaging you for the past few days, ever since he inevitably found out you stopped by from connor.
chris
that’s clearly a yes.
you wonder how many times he’s going to text you as you put your phone down to pull your hair out of your face, tying it up at the back of your head.
once again, you hear the device vibrate, and you flip it to glance at the screen.
chris
i can see you ignoring me you know
your eyes betray you as you glance out the window, just to find chris standing in front of his own. he’s pouting at you with his phone in his hand, hair all curly and damp like he just got out of the shower.
you stand up from your chair without a second thought and take a few steps so you can yank your curtains closed.
he might refuse to believe it, but you’re not playing hard to get. you just can’t fucking stand him.
chris
now that’s just cold
come onnnnnn princess
y/n
holy shit
do NOT call me princess
chris
you love it
y/n
i hate you
chris
if you don’t stop this i’m coming over there
y/n
i’d like to see you try asshole
chris
fine.
you pull back one curtain to call his bluff, and your heart actually drops when you see that he’s not standing there anymore. that just means he’s probably on his way over already.
you have no idea if cass or ramona are home or in their rooms or what. but you do know that you’re locking your door, and if he makes it through the house undetected he’s not getting into your room.
you sit on the edge of your bed for a moment, waiting because you don’t know what else to do with yourself. and then the knock comes, right before chris twists the handle and finds it locked.
“open up.” he demands, his gruff voice muffled through the door.
“no.”
“i’ll go downstairs and get cass if you don’t let me in.” he threatens, which doesn’t really scare you.
cassidy will kick his ass out if she realizes you don’t want him here. you’ll have to explain some things, but it’s probably time to do that anyways.
“you’re being a baby and you’re wasting your time. go home, chris.” you reiterate.
“come on, i just want to talk.” he wiggles the handle once again, like that will somehow open it.
“then call a sex addiction helpline.” you reply hotly, glaring at the slab of wood that separates you as if you can actually see him, though you’re glad you can’t.
“can you please open the door?”
“nope.”
“jesus, you’re so stubborn it’s ridiculous.” he groans, and you hear his forehead thump against the door.
he’s growing frustrated now, and even though you’re heated too, you kind of love it.
“so are you! how many times do i have to tell you to leave?” you shoot back.
it’s silent for a moment, which scares you. then you hear a small sigh.
“i didn’t think i would have to do this.”
the lock on the door begins to twist and turn rapidly, and you leap forward to grab it with your hand.
chris twists it hard and your fingers fumble to keep it jammed. your thumb is already in pain, and the harder he pushes the closer you are to failing. you’re finally forced to let go as chris comes shoving his way into your room a few seconds later.
even though he stumbles slightly, he looks so proud of himself, clutching the heavy duty paper clip he used to get inside.
“there, that’s better.” he says smugly.
you watch his eyes take in your room, covered in posters and full of random artifacts, and you hate it. for some reason, it feels deeply personal.
“holy shit, why don’t you just go home already?”
it’s impossible to keep your tone level anymore as you turn away from him.
“i’m here now, so you have to talk to me.”
“no, i really don’t.” you reply before plopping down onto your mattress, crossing your arms as you lean against the headboard.
“don’t be a brat.” chris follows your lead, even though you weren’t inviting him to join you.
he falls beside you, sprawling out on his back by your feet. his shirt raises over his sweats, exposing a bit of skin above the band of his boxers, and you have to tear your eyes away.
you can feel the warmth of his body, can smell his aftershave mixed with hints of some kind of fresh body wash, and all of it drives you crazy.
you curl your body into itself so there’s as much distance between the two of you as possible.
“why are you so mad?” chris turns his head slightly so he can look at you.
“i’m not mad, you just disgust me.”
this makes him smile. “i beg to differ, i think you like me.”
without hesitation, you extend one leg to kick him in his side. even though it’s not very forceful, he lets out a little groan of surprise, hand going to rub his hip as he frowns.
“you didn’t have to kick me, damn.”
“you deserved that.” you argue, tucking your knees back to your chest.
this time he stays silent and just looks at you. his eyes scan your face, darting down to your lips every other second, and you’re suddenly very aware of your surroundings.
“what the fuck are you staring at?” you ask in a brief moment of panic.
his eyes are so unnerving. it’s like he can see right through you.
“you’re pretty.” chris shrugs before averting his gaze back to the ceiling.
your face flushes, and you force yourself to remember the embarrassment from the other day, how stupid you felt after discovering that he’s still the same old player that sits beside you now.
“shouldn’t you be giving some other girl an STD or something?” you snap, and he huffs out a breathy laugh.
“first of all, i’m totally clean. and if you’d actually let me explain, you’d realize the girl that was over on sunday is just an ex fling who was picking up some old stuff.”
his clarification shocks you, though you still don’t necessarily believe it yet. he could be lying, even though it doesn’t seem like he is.
“you’re seriously telling me you weren’t hooking up with her?” you ask.
“it was strictly platonic. nothing happened.” he confirms, shifting to face you again.
chris lifts his hand to trace gentle patterns along your shins, and you don’t shy away this time. the feeling of his palms, even when separated by your leggings, is far nicer than you imagined.
“okay.” you mutter simply.
“you’ve been ignoring me the entire week and all i get is an ‘okay’?” he halts his movements so he can curl his fingers into air quotes.
“what would you like me to say?”
“an apology would be a nice start.”
you bark out a laugh. “an apology for what? for not talking to you? because i really didn’t take you for the sensitive type.”
he just shakes his head, nudging your legs with one of his knuckles lightly. “god, you and that headstrong attitude will be the death of me.”
“can’t wait.” you quip back, and now its his turn to chuckle.
silence settles over the two of you for a moment, and you’ve been far too close for too long, so you move to stand once again.
“alright, well, we talked. time for you to get lost.” you motion toward the door.
chris sits up, running a hand through his messy hair before he replies. “look, we don’t have another game until sunday, so we’re hosting at the house tomorrow. you should come.”
you raise an eyebrow and tap your chin, like you’re really contemplating. “i’ll have to think about it.”
“please? it’ll only be fun if you go.” he flashes you a charming smile, and you hate that it actually does kind of work.
“maybe i’ll make a special appearance. maybe.” you point a wary finger at him as he gets back on his feet.
“that’s what i like to hear.” chris says, making his way toward you.
you expect him to pass right by, but he lingers, like there’s something else on his mind. he stares down at you with those big blue eyes, and you can feel yourself slipping into dangerous territory.
“is there something else?” you ask softly, and the sound of your voice is maddening to him.
you don’t even try to tempt chris on purpose, he knows this, and yet everything about you is so enticing. not to mention he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about the kiss since it happened, or that pretty little mouth of yours.
but he shakes his head again, because the things he’s thinking about you so early on in this strange relationship frighten him.
“uh, no, sorry. i’ll see you tomorrow, hopefully.”
and then he blows right by you without waiting for a response, disappearing just as quickly as he arrived.

Lute x fallen angel! Reader: Fallen
Short fic- tell me what you think! Hope you all enjoy it-!
Summary" lute SHOULD hate you. But. How can she?
HEAVY SPOILERS MENTIONED LIKE AKL OVER(in this like one?) IDK PLEASE. ALL HAZBIN FICS I WRITE ARENT SPOILER FREE UNLESS I STATE THAT IT IS. YOUVE BEEN WARNED
Warning(s): blood/fights, love at first sight, maybe ooc lute? Idk yoy tell me I never wrote her, heartbreak, also from my knowledge? Wing movements(from birds please correct me on the info if I do it wrong I do not own birds) in denial, Adam and his vulgur language
Ngl I love lute-
Lute a cruel sadistic woman. Odd place for a woman in heaven. But given her status as the leader of the executioners. The one who leads the battles against those vile sinners. Who trains the angels picked to fight herself. The woman second in command to Adam himself.
It's a fitting role.
Never in a million years(and she HAS been around for that long. Or so she lost track of such a useless thing) would she? A ruthless exterminator encounter this thing other fully pure angels speak of.
Love
Why would she? Lute is a fighter. A warrior. The one who Adam HIMSELF entrusts his life too. Why would she fall for anyone? She doesn't even know if she CAN feel such a thing.
But as always- Life(or afterlife?) Is full of surprises. She was well aware of a new angel coming in. Recently passed in some horrific accident she doesn't care for the details just knows- need to pick them apart see if their ruthless enough to fight. But the second she went into the room her eyes widden- an odd feeling in her chest as If her heart- her cold heart was heating up.
"Hello~ are you uh Lute?" You asked shyly- which given the situation even the most outgoing would be just as shy. She blinked, glad for the mask to hide the flushed expression - the confusion on it.
Clearing her throat, she nods slowly, ensuring you saw "I am. Welcome to Heaven, " she greeted uncharacteristically polite- gentle. If you were to be mistaken, she ignored the odd look Adam gave her, looking at the name tag, even your name is pretty- she blinked.
What?
She did NOT just think that. She did NOT Find you pretty. Gorgeous. She does NOT notice how your eyes sparkle how friendly your smile is as you both talked. She most certainly doesn't notice how your wings are the single most gorgeous pair she's ever seen. How white it is- signaling how pure you are. How the gold etched into it- putting to shame her grey and black wings- smiling soft behind her mask. How how she wishes to touch the- she stops she will NOT think that
-
It became as clear as day to her and anyone else. Lute? Is inlove. And not just anyone. The new angel- the kind soul who? Adam states follows her around like a lost puppy or in Adam's kind words "Hey look. It's lutes bitch!" Oh how she wishes to punch him everytime- hit that smug look off. But she won't. Not yet.
A common tradition in heaven- like the birds in the human realm(maybe a odd similarity she presumed. She doesn't care for the human realm after all) finding a mate, a lover with the most gorgeous wings. It was no surprise you gained such attention
Much to her displeasure.
Grumbling watching as how you yet again were surrounded by angels around you- and ad always rejecting them before that smile she oh so adored. Yet would never state aloud was sent her way- making her scowl darkly(but on the inside? She was warm) quickly making your way to her she noticed how you fidgeted. How red you were "out with it. What is it?" She grumbled out no matter how warm and soft she was on the inside? Her words on the outside could never match. No matter how she wished it
White cleared her vision making her back up scrunching her nose before finally realizing what it was- a feather. Not just any old feather. Your feather "i.. i want you to have it.. I know the meaning bur when I was preening my wings u couldn't help it.. I want you to have my feather" they whispered watching as she gently took the feather.
Silently accepting them courting her with a soft smile. Maybe she can make it a necklace?
-
As great as it was up there. There were rules. Easy to forget. Easy to break. But rules nonetheless. Once Adam instructed her to strip a betrayers wings, Lute sighed. Grumbling loudly going to the room. Ignoring the odd almost somber pitiful look Adam gave her. Hiding the feather in her shirt tucked safe near her heart, she hummed, stepping inside fixing her helmet before freezing
"No-"
Her heart dropped paling more then she was already at the bloodied sight
"NO WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO?!"
She roared storming to your bloodied frame she couldn't help but break her never-ending composure for the first time, kneeling to your side "do you HAVE ANY FUCKING IDEA WHAT THIS MEANS?" She snarled ripping her mask off showing her teary face. Knowing her counter was now a sinner. Her angel was a traitor. A million emotions went through her head glaring down at you with every emotion but the one she should feel.
It wasn't hate.
She ignored her feelings, swallowing it down she ignored the reasoning of what you did. Of what you SAID. putting her mask on, she steeled herself. She was an executioner. A peacemaker. She takes care of the issue. So she pushed you down with her foot grabbing your once gorgeous wings now bloodied gold- in her one hand grabbing her spear she sliced. Ignoring how she was covered in your blood. The deafening screams of pain. Of agony. How you begged for her. She took a sigh taking her mask off giving you the chance to se her one last time. Without the mask. How she stared cold at you.
Before the ground opened up, "lute. Before I go- please I lo-" she cut you off, kicking you in. Closing her eyes as the ground closed. For the first time ever. She fell to her knees, holding the now broken wings sobbing out for a sinner. How was she not a sinner to for showing the regret. Showing the selfishness in this?
~~
It wasn't long before she saw you again. Traveling down with Adam to meet with Charlie and her girlfriend- to Lute it was a vile relationship. Not because of the sex- no- because of the liar Vaggie is. How that bitch betrayed her kind and then fell for the ruler of hells daughter. She could almost laugh.
Blinking, ignoring the yelling match of Adam and Charlie. Looking out the window, she froze mouth wide open- even though the demons back was turned. No wings but a tail and horns. She knew that laugh. She knew that smell. No matter how different you looked. Eyes soft watching you turn. Even as a demon. You truly are a beautiful creature. She softened her gaze behind her mask before looking away in disgust. Not with you.
But herself.
Lute a angel? Finds a demon attractive. Sure it's you but. Your a demon. A angel and demon together is vile. Disgusting in all sense of the worse.
But even now. She can't help but still long for you. Long for the almost relationship. Frowning, she looked back at Adam, who watched her with a frown. She knew they'd have a talk. Sighing, she followed after him with a deep sigh
She truly wished this outcome was different. How she longs to see you once more. Touching the feather on her chest she sighs
The only way she would be with you. Is if she was fallen as well. What a cruel irony.

ooh and for steve, maybe something where it's reader's first day at the job where steve works and he's helping them out or maybe just a meet cute before they land the job
ty babe! fem!r (wc: 553)
No one is up front when you step into Family Video, so you pretend to look at the tape display to feel less awkward. It’s right beside the counter, so whenever someone emerges from the back (if they do at all), they’ll see you right away.
You’re not entirely certain what the theme of the display is supposed to be. It has The Sound of Music and Xanadu, so you guess musicals, but then Ghostbusters throws that all the way out.
You’re so concentrated on the puzzle that you don’t notice that an employee comes out until he clears his throat.
When you look up, a flock of nerves lights up in your stomach. The man at the counter is the kind of handsome that you’re never prepared to see for the first time, effortless and confident.
“Hi,” he says, and it’s more flirt than greeting. He leans on the counter, fluffing up his hair and smiling, and you’re hooked.
“Hi.”
You drift hesitantly toward the counter, shifting your bag over your shoulder. Eyes flicking down, you catch sight of his name tag, Steve-o stickered onto the plain black rectangle.
“How can I help you?”
Returning your attention to his face, you purse your lips shyly.
“I, um—I was wondering if there was someone I could talk to about working here?”
The boy’s eyes widen a little bit, and he seems to put himself back together, in a way. He’s not professional, by any means, but he’s all business.
“Oh, yeah.” His brows pull together in faux seriousness. “Are you kidding? You’ll fit right in.”
You laugh. “I can’t tell if you really mean that or not.”
Steve’s smile warms. “I do. Sorry.”
Suddenly, you really hope you get the job here.
“Okay,” you nod. “So, um…”
You look around, to the door leading to the back room. Steve perks up.
“Oh, uh, yeah.” Forearms on the counter, he leans toward you, a good gossip-length away. “He’s not here, actually. But I can put in a good word for you, and tell him you’ll be back tomorrow?”
“Oh, sure,” you agree, a little breathless from his big eyes and sweet voice. “I’ll, um—I’ll see you tomorrow, then.”
You step back, and Steve almost looks like he’d crawl over the counter to follow you.
“Well hey—uh. Keith is gonna ask about your favorite movies, probably. He’s—” Steve glances around like he’s checking for eavesdroppers. “He’s kinda pretentious, yknow. Picky.”
You nod slowly.
“Is this his display? Cause I mean, these ones aren’t half bad.”
Grinning, Steve shakes his head.
“Nah, that’s mine, actually. Killer Soundtracks.”
“Ohh.”
With another pass through his hair, Steve pops over to the cart behind the counter, a picking through the tapes there for something. He returns to you with a stack of three.
“Keith’s a nerd, so, uh. Sci-fi is the way to go. These three don’t have to be your favorite, but he’s gonna bring ‘em up.” He slides them over to you. “On me. Just give ‘em back tomorrow, kay?”
Blinking, you take the stack between nimble fingers.
“Oh, are you sure?”
A girl appears from the back then, making a slow and obviously nosey gander back to the counter. Steve ignores her, still folded over the bench.
“‘Course, babe.” He winks a long-lashed eye. “Pretty privilege.”

do you think you could write something where könig and/or ghost (separate) were nearby or watched reader try to participate in a conversation but constantly got ignored or talked over to the point where they just kinda go silent and walk away? they end up comforting the reader and just trying to be a shoulder to cry on while they talk about their frustrations because this is something that always happens to them <\3
it doesn’t have to be too long and you don’t have to worry about getting to this request too quickly!! thank u for reading anyways :3
-> THE SOCIAL WEAK LINK
synopsis: rookies and debriefings are pains in both you and ghost's asses. rich people fail the turing test while interacting with you and könig.
word count: 2.2k (~1.1k each)
characters: ghost, könig, awkward! reader (lol)
notes: (rings dinner bell) hey friend.. this req has been sitting since september.. im so sorry (ಥ﹏ಥ)
Tumblr media
-> GHOST:
Debriefings were always boring. Everyone was tired, sweaty, and just wanted a cold shower and a warm bed. But what else encompasses the military so eloquently except unnecessary misery?
And to add to the misery, some rookies had tagged along to the mission. “On-the-job training,” Price had prattled off as he read the mission statement. He had given you and the rest of the 141 an exaggerated look that screamed If these rookies compromise the mission I’m going to tear the Lieutenant Colonel a new one.
The rookies (with callsigns Quest and Cable) were nice enough. They weren’t given the opportunity to burn off their energy on the mission like the 141 – they’d stayed behind as backup while the 141 went in to deal with the bad guys. As a consequence, now they’re in the debriefing room, chattering away like parrots.
Ghost could fall asleep in the chair he was in, if Cable and Quest were a little quieter. He looks at the next spinny chair over, where you’re sitting. You’ve got your knees tucked to your chin and are silently tracing the patterns in the wood table with a fingernail. Every now and again, you glance at the rookies, but ultimately turn your eyes away.
You were always just a bit too awkward to fit in with the rest of the military. Either too quiet or too loud; you rambled too often and your voice cracked when you did. You slipped through the cracks, into the quiet background with Laswell and Shepherd. You’re one of the powerful hands that move the pieces on the chessboard, but not a well-recognized one. Well-recognized within the 141, yes, but not on a wider scale.
Ghost can tell how you’re feeling by the obvious emotion on your face. It’s yearning – an emotion Ghost knows well.
His eyes sweep the rest of the table. Gaz is fucking around on his phone, probably making a new Pinterest board, while Soap leans over his shoulder and watches him. Price is in another room, talking to someone important. Ghost couldn’t really bring himself to care about who.
The entire room is bogged down with an unmistakable tiredness that goes right over Quest and Cable’s heads. Really, the only sound in the room is their voices and, intermittently, yours as you try to inject yourself into their conversation. Each attempt is met with pursed lips that barely count as smiles and something along the lines of “Yeah. Anyway…”
Eventually, Price pops in, leaning his head on the doorframe. The brim of his hat crinkles and his nose wrinkles up in disdain. He sighs. “Everyone out. Lieutenant Colonel wants this meeting room for herself. We’ll debrief later.”
Quest and Cable pop up like excited teenagers and head for the door, continuing to talk. “I’m soooo goddamn hungry. Hopefully the mess hall has something good…”
“Hey!” You practically jump from your chair, your eyes on the rookies. “Um, I heard that they just restocked the vending machines? Do you wanna maybe chick – I mean, check – them out with me? They’re just down the hall.”
They both tense, and Quest looks over their shoulder. They smile awkwardly and exchange a look with Cable. “Uh… maybe another time?”
You visibly deflate and rock back on your heels. “Yeah, totally. See you later.”
They both nod tersely and exit. You take a deep breath and let out a long sigh. You sit back in the spinny chair and it wheels backwards from the force.
Gaz shuts his phone off and groans while Soap sucks air through his teeth.
“Not your best effort,” Gaz says.
“I know,” you say.
“Maybe you’re not just compatible with rookies?” Soap tries.
You roll your head back against the back of the chair and stare at the ceiling. “I know.”
You sink further into the chair, then stand. “Whatever. Let’s clear out. Price will have our heads if we don’t.”
Ghost tails you out the door. You don’t acknowledge him, but you know he’s there (even if his footsteps are extraordinarily light for a man of his stature).
“Pompous pricks, ay?” Ghost says.
You stick your hands in your pockets, hiking your shoulders up by your ears. “Wish they were a little more personable. Wish I was a little more personable.”
“Why, you’re plenty personable.” Ghost laughs gruffly at his own joke as he nudges your shoulder with his.
“Asking to go ‘chick out’ the vending machines is a personable interaction?” You relax your arms and knock your elbow against Ghost’s.
“I thought it was funny,” Ghost says. “Even if it was just a slip-up.”
You sigh, but keep up with Ghost as he walks. “If it was funny, then why didn’t they laugh?”
Ghost thinks for a second. “Maybe they just don’t have a sense of humor?”
“You don’t have a sense of humor,” you jab.
Ghost scoffs. “Of course I do.”
“Then make me laugh,” you say. “Make me laugh right now.”
Ghost breathes in and exhales slowly through the fabric of his mask. “Well… do you know why the Cold War was called the Cold War?”
“The supernations fought using proxy wars,” you say. “America and the USSR never really went head-to-head.”
Ghost sighs pointedly. “Yes,” he says, “but also because of the icy-BMs.”
“The what?”
“The Cold War?” Ghost repeats. “Icy?”
“ICBM stands for Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles.” You stop midstep, looking at Ghost with a disbelieving smile. “Ghost, don’t tell me you don’t know what ICBM stands for?”
“No, it –” Ghost sighs. “Icy sounds like IC? Icy-BMs?”
You burst out laughing, waving Ghost away like he was some form of stupid. “Ghost, seriously? You don’t – oh my God!”
“I’m not a fucking knob, I know what…”
Ghost can’t bring himself to correct you as he watches you laugh like that. It’s a bit too loud and there’s a snort in there somewhere, but it rings true and warms Ghost’s heart. He doesn’t mind being seen as dumb for a minute if you’re able to warm his heart with a sound as nice as that.
Tumblr media
-> KöNIG:
König nearly always hates going undercover.
More often than not, the higher-ups stick him in some ill-tailored enemy armor and send him in with nothing but a less-than-encouraging slap on the ass. They know he’ll make it out alive.
On this mission, he feels a little more comfortable. It’s more than obvious you’re not.
You and König are camped out on the edge of a ballroom, sitting together at a small table. You’re dressed in a fancy outfit that just screams decadence, and it fits your role well – the adult child of some rich, cigar-chomping tech baron. König is playing the role of your bodyguard, dressed down from his usual military garb in a plain black suit (with kevlar padding) and a balaclava.
You cross one leg over the other at the knee and look down at your flute of champagne as you swirl it. The bubbles rise to the surface and pop as the pale liquid settles.
“I hate this,” you say under your breath, just loud enough for König to hear.
He nods along, but straightens up when a small group of people approach the table. There’s an older woman, a middle-aged man, and a girl, maybe fifteen.
“Hi, sweetheart!” An older woman croons at you. “You’re Bohumil Silvester’s youngest, right?”
“Oh!” You sit up straighter and put the champagne flute on the table. “Yes, I am. And, um – and who might you be?”
“I’m Laila Matthews.” Laila checks over her shoulder at the people accompanying her. “This is my daughter, Adine, and this is my husband, Keaton.”
“It’s so nice to meet you!” You smile politely, but König can scope out of the corner of his eye that you’re gripping a bit of the fabric of your too-fancy outfit like you’re meaning to rip it off. You spout your fake name to Laila with a cheeky “But you know that already, right, ma’am?”
Laila is utterly delighted with your carefully constructed persona. She throws her head back and laughs, one hand on her chest and the other finding Keaton’s shoulder. “Oh, Lord. Aren’t you just your father’s child?”
You nod and, once again, smile politely while exchanging side-eye glances with König. He’s just as confused as you are.
As soon as Laila recovers, she’s talking again. She gestures vaguely in König’s direction. “And who is this? Security, for this casual meeting?”
“Uh, yes, ma’am,” you say. “You can never be too careful these days, with all the laws about concealed carry and everything.”
“Well, I’m 57, and I’ve only had security for a few occasions,” Laila says.
“You’re 57?” You bark, a little too loud. You can feel a few heads turn your way and Laila’s stare turns withering. König’s shoulders shake as he coughs into his fist.
“I mean, um, you’re 57?” You try again, quieter. “Because you don’t look it. Like, at all. Ma’am.”
Laila’s tone is flat when she speaks. “Right.”
“I meant, um, you look younger? Uh, anyway.” You smile nervously, then pick up your champagne flute and take a sip. “I love your family’s outfits! And the, uh, the way they match.”
Keaton leans in and grabs a hold of Laila’s shoulder. He gets up on his toes to whisper something in Laila’s ear. It’s hard to hear over the ambient noise of the ballroom. Laila nods and Keaton continues to whisper.
“Um, Laila? Mrs. Matthews?” You try to get her attention, to no avail. She keeps nodding to Keaton’s words like you’re not even there.
You stand and turn to Adine. “Adine, right? Tell your mother it was nice speaking to her.”
“Uh-huh. Sure.” Adine nods absently, her eyes somewhere else on the ballroom floor.
You toss the rest of the champagne in the flute down like it’s a shot and stand from the table. You make eye contact with König and nod towards the French doors that lead towards the balcony.
People don’t notice as you and König step out. The sky is clear, yet the night is still young enough to be starless.
“Christ, I hate rich people,” you mutter under your breath.
König moves and leans his back against the wrought iron of the railing. His eyes sweep across the small area, then he nods. “Yes. That interaction was less than pleasant.”
You lean against the railing next to him. “Why was she even talking to me? And what did she mean, ‘Aren’t you just your father’s child?’ Like, what’s that supposed to mean?”
“I am… not sure,” König says. “Maybe it’s part of rich people code?”
“Yeah, maybe.” You huff out a laugh, then sigh. “I really wasn’t the best pick for this mission.”
“What do you mean?” König asks. “You are perfectly capable of fighting.”
“No, the, like…” you sigh again. “The talking part? I’m not fit for that. Never been a good conversationalist, never will be.”
“You are conversing with me right now, no?” König gestures between you and him. “This is a conversation. You are doing fine.”
“Yes, but…” you trail off. “You saw me. I shouted her age out in front of everyone.”
König hums. “To be fair, it was a bit of a shock.”
You glance up at him and laugh, a pretty smile gracing your features. “Shut up.”
“But it was!” König insists. The fabric of his balaclava puffs out as he laughs. “I had to cough to cover up my laugh. I nearly had to excuse myself.”
“Yeah, sure.” You shove his shoulder half-heartedly as you turn and look out over the railing, at the courtyard. König follows your gaze.
The courtyard is illuminated by ambient lamps. Paths are laid with bricks, with neatly trimmed grass in between each one. Exotic plants from every corner of the globe line the pathways, some of their flowers closed for the night. A fountain is in the middle, with water spouting out of the trumpet of a cherub statue. A few people surround the fountain, talking quietly with drinks in their hands in the low light.
You lean close to König and point at one of the people – a man in a navy suit. “That’s the target. Mister T. Kilgore.”
“So he is,” König says. He pats under his armpit, checking his sidearm. “We need to get moving. I do not like the way Laila’s husband was talking to her. Suspicious.”
You nod and send König a small smile. “We’re still going with the plan, right? I’m going in and playing drunk?”
“Of course.” König mirrors your smile even though you can’t see it. “Besides, it’ll give you an opportunity to practice your conversation skills.”
You scoff, but you’re still smiling. “Yeah, if I’m planning on interacting with everybody as a drunk idiot for the rest of my life.”
“I’m serious!” König insists. “More likely than not, you’ll never see these people again.”
A beat of silence.
“You’re right.” You knock your elbow against König’s. “Let’s give them a show.”

Hi sorry if this is weird but I've looked all over the internet for the rwrb bonus chapter and I can't find it but I saw a pic of it in one of your posts in the tag and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing the rest of it? I would just buy the book but im a minor and I live with a homophobic family so I probably won't be able to do that. Again u can ignore if this is like a weird request I just love the book and it's v comforting for me so I would rlly appreciate if you could share the henry pov chapter
Hi!! I'm sorry for the late reply, I haven't had time to sit down and scan out the pages until now. Here's the link to the file:
This is a word version, but I think a lot of the text is cut out?? (I can't use technology to save my life) I'm not sure if it's just me tho, so if you can't see the whole text either, try this link instead:
I really am sorry for the terrible quality, I tried my best but the pages wouldn't lay flat and it's currently dark out where I'm from so I had to use a lamp which uh, definitely does not help. If it's really unreadable, drop me another ask and I'll try to rescan and see if I can bring up the quality of it.
But apart from all that, I hope you enjoy the bonus chapter!! And for anyone who happens to see this post feel free to access the link too :)

NOW THAT WE DONT TALK
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: somehow, somewhere, cole caulfied gets yn to go to his end of the summer party down in michigan. it works in her favor due to college starting back up. pt.5
series masterlist
Tumblr media
“no fucking way, cole.” you said into the phone, sitting at the island of your brother’s house. the sliding door nearby was open, sending small gusts of wind in, causing you to shrink closer to your body.
“oh come on, please!” cole whined from the phone. cole tried his hardest, but if he tried his hardest, his party would not be held, on the hughes property.
said party will also have jack hughes— and even trevor zegras.
“cole—“ “no come on, y/n, i havent seen you in forever. i get trevor and jack will be there, but just ignore them, please. i miss you and i dont want them to be the reason we can’t hang out.” cole pleaded.
you let out a sigh. “can i bring a plus one?” you ask. you can hear cole whisper a small ‘yes!’ in victory before speaking, “of course, is it gonna be your brother?”
“uh no— i was gonna talk to sab…” you trailed off.
“i dont care who you bring, as long as i get to see you, bells.”
there is was. the nickname you had been given one summer many years ago by cole, that soon everyone in the hughes summer house called you.
he started to call you bells because of how quiet you would walk into a room, he made the joke you needed a bell to stop scaring them. fast forward, he bought you some and forced you to have them around your neck, and the nickname just stuck.
it was almost endearing at this point. not some joke.
“okay” you whispered, bringing a leg up, resting your chest against your knee.
“when is it?” you asked.
“next weekend. so is this a yes?” cole asked excitedly. “i guess so. i better get paid back for this unexpected flight.”
“fuck yeah, i cannot wait to see you, bells.”
“cant wait to see you too..”
Tumblr media
you sigh softly, curled in a fetal position on your bed, your white comforter draped over your body. you hated how after a year, you were still hung up on your ex, who was doing way better than you.
he had a girlfriend, your best friend, hockey, he had it all. you shared your music to the world, not as an act of revenge but as a way to pour your heart out and see if people have and are going through the same thing.
you feel lucky to know you have yet to receive a message from jack, or even his girlfriend. that doesn’t mean you havent seen the comments though.
quinn commenting every once in awhile kind of scared you. what was he telling jack? what was he telling trevor? what was he saying about you in general?
but you and quinn had a good relationship, he was practically your third older brother (right behind your actual one, and auston!). you went to him for advice about jack, or to complain about jack.
luke and you also had a good relationship. one that crumbled when you and him had a small argument over your break up with jack, and him ultimately choosing his brother. you didn’t blame him though.
sad fact is, is you believe that all the hughes brothers were your soulmates in some form. quinn and luke were your platonic soulmates. jack was your romantic soulmate, in every possible way. but not anymore,
jack is on your mind constantly. all you see is him everywhere you go. all the time its just him.
you wanted it to stop. jack was practically your roman empire and god you needed to find a new one.
but hey, at least you don’t have to pretend you like acid rock anymore, because god some of his playlists for game days were bad.
but he was happier now, right? with his new girlfriend who definitely dissed you online..
maybe its a good thing, yknow? now that you dont talk..

Hi!! Wanted to send smth in for fluffy Friday :3
Could you write a thing for hobie with an artist S/o painting on hobie’s back and just having a chill time together while doing so 🥺?
Thank you for the adorable prompt!! 🫶🫶 Hope u like it!
Pairing: Hobie Brown x gn! Reader/ Spider-Punk x gn! Reader
Tags: no use of Y/N, no specific physical description of the reader, suggestive content, cw food mention, FLUFF.
ʕ·ᴥ·ʔ
You find out that Hobie's ticklish with the first brush stroke of your paintbrush on his skin. He squirms faintly with his toned back muscles moving subtly, but you take notice because of your current position on his back. The paint is cool when it hits his skin, but you grant him reprieve from the cold with your warm hands.
You're straddling his waist, your legs sit comfortably on his sides, mindful of your weight that he insists he can handle because of his enhanced abilities. But your instincts make you lift yourself up slightly above him, every time you do this he reaches for your thighs blindly, bringing you back down on his waist with a disapproving grunt and a quiet and stern ‘lovie’
“You're ticklish” you coo whilst your hands expertly paint individual blades of grass on the small of his back. Your fluffy pajama pants doesn't help, with every move from you, it tickles him more.
“Nuh uh” Hobie’s voice is muffled by the pillow, if not for the slight tickle he would've fallen asleep from the start. With you on top and gently painting on his back, your hands gliding along his skin, he thinks he's in heaven.
You take a clean brush, bringing it to sweep it across his nape. He shudders, proving your point. Laughing, you bend down to kiss him right over where you tickled him as an apology. An apology he accepts wholeheartedly.
“Y’know, when I accepted to be your canvas I expected to be pampered not tickled to death”
“So dramatic,” you whisper, blowing air into his ear that earns you a flick on your forehead that may or may not have made his shoulder ache a bit. “After, I promise” Hobie hums at the prospect of you actually pampering him after.
Giggling, you continue to finish your work of art. Painting delicate daisies all over the bottom of his back. You're careful this time, trying extra hard not to tickle him.
“Can I guess now?” Hobie cranes his neck to look over his shoulder, silently wishing he was bit by a radioactive owl instead just so he can look at you fully. That would be a terrifying sight though, straight out of a horror movie.
You put some details on Hobie's iconic leather vest. Streaks of silver dance on his skin. “You ask like you haven't been doing that for the past hour”
Hobie ignores your quip with him squeezing your thigh. “I feel like you're drawing triangles, pizza?”
He isn't completely wrong, you are painting triangles for the spikes on his vest. “Pizza? Are you that hungry, babe?”
“Starving”
“Okay, let's finish this later then.” You rub at his arms comfortingly.
“No, finish it, love. I can feel that you're almost done”
“How'd you know?” You lean down once again to face him.
Hobie's cheek is smooshed on the pillow, his lips puckered, a sight so adorable you just want to smooch him right there and then. You pat yourself on the back for not indulging yourself, a feat in itself.
“I can always tell when you're about to finish” he smirks at his own joke.
You guffaw, “just for that I'm gonna take my time” lifting yourself up, Hobie chases after you, trying his best to reach for your lips. But alas, thanks to his bones he couldn't reach you in time.
He gives up, flopping back down on the pillows with a muffled ‘almost’ After a few more added details, you finally finish it in record time.
“And done!” You lift yourself off his back to his dismay. Patting his butt, Hobie gently eases himself off the bed, careful not to ruin your art.
He has pillow creases left on his skin which you gladly rub away with your thumb. “You wanna see?” your eyes twinkle.
“Please, lovie”
Leading him towards the floor length mirror, you turn him around to face you instead of the mirror, to which he happily lets you manhandle him with a lopsided grin on his lips.
“Tadaa!” You gesture around his back, shyness rearing its head, tucking your hands over your chest as you feel heat on your cheeks.
Hobie looks over his shoulder, he doesn't feel so hungry anymore. You've painted a pretty picture to say the least, it's a masterpiece, definitely your best work. It's a scenic landscape of you and Hobie on a sunny field, sitting on a picnic cloth, smiling as Hobie plays his guitar complete with tiny musical notes floating around. The grass is painted with tiny flowers that makes him want to reach down and pluck some for you to put in your hair.
He realizes you're waiting for his reaction, eyes searching his face. Hobie grabs you by your waist, twirling you around the bedroom whilst he beams at your laughing form. You laugh loudly as he squeezes the life out of you.
“It's so fuckin' gorgeous! You're so fuckin' good!” Hobie places the biggest messiest kiss on your lips. He pulls away with a loud smacking of your lips then he decides immediately to kiss you once again on every surface of your face. “So fuckin' perfect!”
“You're eating my face!”
“Because ‘m hungry!”
You think he really loves your little painting.

hi i just wanted to ask if you had any jason-centric fanfic recs that actually focus on him and not make it about another character (saying this because the bruce and tim stans do this so often for some reason)
because i don’t know, its odd, so much fanfic is dedicated to how jason has to grovel to get the approval of the batfam or batman and i don’t want that because like in my opinion jason was never wrong about anything actually. unfortunately it seems most fans disagree and then write not so enjoyable fanfic about it :/
looking at the tim drake stans in particular like thats the most boring robin dont drag jason into this 😭
Hi! First of all thank you so much for sending an ask! Basically these will be fics that focus primarily on Jason and do NOT have him be in the wrong (i have those too, bc they can be well written and they are unfortunately impossible to avoid). Theyre not in any particular order, I'm just going thru all my bookmarks haha!! This is long bc my bookmarks containing jasons character tag is 28 pages on ao3. i am very normal about him. anyway! here they are:
The Beating Heart is a 4-shot featuring Ghostmakes/Jason, so if thats not your cup of tea, ignore it. Bruce is very much an asshole in this so if you're feeling hateful towards him (which is based) this will scratch that itch
The Bowery Branch is a one-shot from the pov of a librarian in the bowery. It's a bunch of snapshots focusing on how the librarians there view and interact w jason throughout his life!
The Lost Titans is soo good. Jason and some other people start having dreams about an alternate timeline where they were in a titans team together. Then some shit starts to go down and they have to fix it. has minimum bat appearances iirc. great mystery too!!
hit me as hard as you can is another good one. i think bruce and jason start over at the end but it was such a journey?? the whole thing is very good. and i remember the writing being very poignant
Thank you, Next! is a one-shot focusing on Jason and the men he's loved over the years. Introspective and character study-esque. very good
so, you've killed the joker is, as the name implies, a oneshot abt jason killing the joker. he does NOT feel guilty about doing it, which is for some reason a common trope in fics.
Father-Hood is about Jason raising an infant before he has the chance to start his revenge plan. He also gets together with Eddie Bloomberg <3
Granted the Serenity is about Countdown w donna jason and kyle happening w an al caste jason i think. it has next to 0 bruce iirc.
Things We've Lost, and Things We've Gained takes place in the young justice cartoon verse. if u dont know about it the short story is: the first child superhero team was not teen titans and roy harper was kidnapped and replaced w a clone and when the og roy is found he is rlly angry lol. Jayroy.
Yellow, Red, and Green is an au where jason becomes a green lantern while digging out of his grave. has a sequel in the works afaik but still good as a standalone.
Get Used to Dying is, in my objectively correct opinion, THE Jason Todd fic. I have recommended it before, and it's still a masterpiece. It tells Jason's life in the format of a play, absolutely brilliant.
Sacrosanct is about jason & bruce's relationship, and i think just from bruce's pov, but I have to rec it on the ground of it just being *chefs kiss* also there is no "bruce is right and do you not know how he mourned you jason!! care more about bruces reaction to your death than your own plase :/" bs
folly of youth, jason introspection/character study iirc. remember it being really good. also the last scene has great imagery.
in a new york minute, everything can change WILL make you cry no matter how much you've read it. it's about the last 60 seconds of Jason's (first) life. heartbreaking.
April 27th / I was only a child is a jason visits his grave one-shot. no bruce.
I think I could have included more but my bookmarks are uh. LONG. If I have other recs I will rb this post!!

Drunken haze

Tags: prohero!Bakugou, groping, cussing, consumption of alcohol, sexual innuendos, short image. Minors do not interact!
Tumblr media
Clubs had never been Bakugou's favorite scene.
He hated how the establishment was filled with all types of people, dancing, overly sweating, drinking, being all loud without a care in the world.
He was already chugging his seventh drink when he saw you across the bar.
A pretty little thing, wearing a silk-like orange dress that reached your midthighs, showing so much skin it was tantalizing. A sparkly, fine chain was circling your waist, and it connected with a similar necklace. Your hair was perfectly syled, as if you went to a salon before stepping into the club, and he could make out your simple make-up, which did nothing but enhance your beauty.
So delectable, he wanted a piece.
He was planning on a quick approach, throw a couple of flirts and get you at his place to hopefully bury his face in between those pretty thighs of yours. But when you briefly locked eyes with him after your friend whispered something in your ear, Bakugou felt intimidated. Something so unusual of him.
The bartender, the one attending the VIP tables, manages to catch his attention.
"Would you like anything else?"
His friends are quick to order up some concoctions for their next rounds, and when the guy looks at him expectanlty, Bakugou huffs, eyes once again finding solace in your pretty sight, now laughing at something the girl beside you was saying.
"A whiskey for me, and a Platinum Passion for that chick" He motions with his chin, eyes not even once leaving your table. He misses how his friends are exchanging weird looks, or how the bartender nods, albeit a little taken aback.
"Uh, sure. Right away"
He waits, roughly five minutes, and when the bartender finally gives you the drink, Bakugou is already feeling cocky, much more so when you look up at him and smile. A pretty smile that he wants to turn into an open box of symphony, moaning for him. He revels into the attention, but is short lived when your friend taps your shoulder to continue whatever conversation you were having.
Then, the bartender approaches his table once again, this time bringing him the whiskey. He pulls out his wallet.
"Sir, the whisky is only five.."
" If 'ya get that hot chick to come home with me those are all 'urs" the bartender takes the quite scary-looking stash of money, and looks at the prohero as if he has grown another head, then looks at his friends in search of something.
"Oi, Kats" Mina slurs, mostly inhebrieted but not enough to not understand what was going on. " u drunk?"
Bakugou scoffs. He wasn't drunk. Tipsy, yes, but not drunk. What was so wrong with a guy wanting to get some? Especially when the night offered him such pretty little thing to ravage? You're cute, too pretty to pass on such opportunity. Tipsy or not, he wants you. Consensually, of course.
"Piss off. And you-" He almost snarls at the bartender, which is quick to straighten his back, "you got a job do to. Scram!"
The poor guy leaves in a hurry, and Bakugou goes back on sipping his drink, happy to see that you too seem to enjoy his offering.
"Bakubruh-" Kirishima too is slurring, tongue seemingly twisting in his mouth by the amount of alcohol he has consumed in the past three hours. "Youh'r a lost causs"
Bakugou rolls his eyes at his spoken grammar, deciding to ignore whatever his friend was trying to say. But when his eyes went back at your table, you weren't there, and he let out a string of curses.
He scared you off.
Of fucking course he scared you. A stranger bought you a drink and then sent a bartender to tell you that he wants to get in your pants- well, skirt. Who knows how many creeps had done the same thing, he should've of known better than this. He's a pro hero for crying out loud! And just now he stooped lower than any other scumbag-
"Hi, pretty boy" He turns around like almost burned, eyes shining at the realization that you decided to approach him. He wants to greet you back, but his throat seemed to temporarily go numb.
You're so, so much more prettier up close, and he couldn't wait for that coral lipstick to be imprinted all over his skin.
"Heard you want to take me home?" Your palms slide on his pecks, body barely bending over his shoulder to give a soft, barely felt kiss on the side of his neck. His palms are sweating like crazy, while his heart is doing flips at this turn of events.
"Fuck yeah princess" He gets up from the cushion, turning around to slide his hands over that flimsy cloth you call dress, and grabs a handful of your ass. Never had his hands ever felt at home like in that moment. So small compared to him, so delicate in comparison with his roughness, so sweet, so pliant, and so easy to have. He was going to ruin you.
As he walks out with you, wrapped around your back, hands never seeming to stop at feeling up your body, the bartender turns to his colleague, mouth agape and eyes almost bulging out of their sockets.
"I swear... I've never seen someone so drunk before"
"What do you mean?"
"He paid me 10k to ask his wife to take him home, can you believe it?"

A/N: YOU LEFT SO MANY IDEAS 😭. THANK U TBH CAUSE I WAS RUNNING OUT! Two things, I only did Rin because I’m not really sure how to write for sae, and Ion really listen to Taylor swift BUT hopefully I’ll do your asks justice !!!
Tumblr media
𝐑𝐈𝐍 𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐒𝐇𝐈 (りんいとし)
The day Rin left you was probably one of the saddest days of your life.
Your best friend suddenly wasn’t interested in you anymore. It was like he had changed into a completely different person once he started taking soccer seriously and it hurt you, he knew everything about you, how could he just up and change his mind like that?
Walking past him in the hallways was bad too, even when you both share a class and he’s always right there. You’ve never had to worry about being without Rin.
When he suddenly stopped showing up, you assumed he just moved away or found new ways to move around the school to stop seeing you.
But obviously that wasn’t the case when he was at your doorstep, drenched in rain on a Saturday night.
“Wha-“ “please let me in. It’s cold.” He shoves his wet body through yours and you look at him as if he had 3 heads. “Hold on. What the fuck? Rin.” You say as he makes his way to your bathroom. “Do you still have my clothes over here?” He shouts as soon as he closes the door shut, and you’re banging on it. “Um. I think so. But- we’re not gonna move past this!” He unlocks the door in an oversized black shirt and a pair of his grey sweats that he found in the corner.
“Move past what?” “You coming in here like nothing is wrong!” “What’s wrong?” You cannot believe what you’re hearing right now.
He moves to your room and lays down on your bed, grabbing the remote and turning on the tv. You slam the door shut behind you and he turns to you confused. “What’s wrong?” He asks again, and you’re ready to rip his head off.
“What’s wrong?! You ignored me for weeks, up and left, and now you’re back?! Where were you? Why was I ignored? What did I do?” You rant. And his sudden amnesia seems to magically clear up
“What’s wrong?! You ignored me for weeks, up and left, and now you’re back?! Where were you? Why was I ignored? What did I do?” You rant. And his sudden amnesia seems to magically clear up
He’s silent, and you’re still looking at him. “If you’re gonna be silent here too you can get the fuck out.” “Okay hold on, calm down a little” he says, sitting up and looking you in your eyes.
“Uh, I wasn’t trying to hurt your feelings, I have a reason, it’s just really embarrassing.” He mumbles but it’s loud enough for you to hear. Your shoulders drop, you’ve always had a soft spot for him.
“Rin.” You say, and he knows he’s gotta spit it out eventually. “Okay okay, so you know how I love football right? And I wanted to focus on it more, that’s why I ignored you the way I did.” You stare at him. Does he really think that’s a good reason? “You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me.” Rin looks at you with wide eyes. And you’re rolling yours. “If you wanted space all you needed to do was ask, Rin. That’s not a good reason to cut me off.” And he feels guilty, he didn’t know how else to go for it.
“Listen. This is really hard for me.” “Harder for you than it is for me?” And he shuts up, “where did you go? What if you died? Why was I ignored?!” “I just told you why” “give me a better answer Rin Itoshi!” And your throwing a pillow at him, but it’s no use because he catches it like it’s nothing to him.
“I realized I liked you okay? That’s why I ignored you.” Now it’s your turn to shut up. “I couldn’t focus on football with you around, you made me too nervous.” He mumbles, looking for YouTube on your TV. Your silence is making him anxious, he flickers his eyes to you every once in a while to make sure you’re still there. You sigh out a “Rin” and flop down on the bed.
He looks at you with a “what” and you just wanna smack him. “I like you too. I thought you realized it and that’s when you ignored me.” He laughs “ignore you because you like me? I would have been jumping up and down.” He whispers, and pulls you closer. You can feel his heart beat and it’s going pretty fast—yours is too though.
You stare into his pretty blue eyes and catch a slight blush on his cheeks when he catches you looking. “What?” He mumbles and you softly grab his chin and kiss him.
Takes him by surprise but it doesn’t take long for him to grab your waist and tilt his head to the side to deepen the kiss. You two stay like that for a minute, you laying on top of him with your hands in his hair and him having a hand on your waist and another on the small of your back.

🐑 send me a fake set of fic tags, and I’ll try to come up with a summary for it! !!!! OOOh okay. if you're up for it(!), then: #Canon Divergent #There Was Only Ten Beds #Magical Realism #Bondage #Light Decapitation
a lobby with nine hundred windows | lando/oscar, M
#canon divergence, #there was only ten beds, #magical realism, #bondage, #light decapitation
The first sign of something going really, terribly, desperately wrong is subtle, honestly. So subtle, Oscar hadn’t thought anything of it. Brakes catch fire all the time, Max was due for some bad luck; nothing more, nothing less. The explosion bit was a little weird, a little larger than usual, but that was easily explained away. The second sign, the air going wavy and thick around him as he exited the car, is almost equally subtle. Waking up to Lando holding a knife to his throat, however, is not.  Australia has a lot to answer for.
not only did i come up with a summary for it. i also uh. wrote it. it's wild what breaks through writers block 😭 so thank u for this strange and lovely tag combo. here's 1700 words of. idek what. something completely and utterly different from anything else i've ever written, that's for sure!
tw for mild description of violence
Oscar wakes, slow and groggy, to a warm weight on his chest, limiting his breaths. He blinks the sleep out of his eyes and goes from half-asleep to wide-awake in milliseconds, Lando looming over him, perched on his chest. Knife at his throat.
“Lando, what the fuck?”
Oscar struggles, feeling returning to his limbs, the restraints around his wrists and ankles making themselves known.
Lando presses him further into the bed, eyes wide. He shifts his gaze around the room, frenetic, never keeping Oscar out of sight for long. Oscar’s hyperaware of the cool edge of metal against his skin. The thump of blood through his carotid is loud in his ears.
“Tell me something only you would know.”
“What the fuck are you doing?”
“Oscar, I need you to trust me.” Lando leans in further, so close Oscar has to fight against the urge to cross his eyes. “Tell me something no one else knows.”
Oscar thinks, hard. Lando’s face is more serious than he’s ever seen it before.
“The backs of your thighs are weirdly ticklish?”
Lando releases a little of the pressure, but stays leaned over Oscar, considering.
“At least three other people know that. Something else. Please.” His voice cracks, and with it, his expression, desperation on display.
Oscar reaches to touch him, to soothe the visible ache. The material wrapped tight around his wrist snaps taut before he can even get close. Lando notices the aborted motion, and shifts forward again.
“Oscar, think.”
Oscar wracks his brain, turning over all the stones labeled Lando in his head, looking for something novel, something truly secret. Carefully considers the little cut-off wheezy sounds Lando makes when he’s just come, the half-filled sketchbooks shoved in a drawer, his secret sleeping spot at the MTC. Discards each one, heart rate slowing now that Oscar has a task to focus on, before remembering—
“You’ve been stealing my shampoo!” Oscar says, too loud for the odd room they’re in.
“No I ha- How did you know that?”
Oscar shrugs as best as he can in the restraints.
“I realized I was running out too fast. And you smell like me sometimes. Noticed after Vegas, I think.”
Lando’s face does something complicated, flashing from shifty to smug to sheer relief. He tosses the knife to the ground with a clatter, and collapses onto Oscar.
“Thank fuck, Osc, holy shit,” he says, shoulders shaking.
“Can I get some answers now? Like why you had a knife at my throat?”
Lando sits back up, nearly knocking his head into Oscar’s chin. His face is wet. Oscar remembers his restraints, and does not go to wipe his tears. He climbs off the bed, disappearing out of Oscar’s limited line of sight, and pops back up with said knife.
“Let me get you out of here first. Before things get wobbly again.”
“Wobbly?”
Lando ignores his question, focused on getting Oscar out of the straps. His hands are shaking nearly too bad to unknot anything; the knife lays unused, for fear of accidentally cutting something else. It takes minutes for Oscar’s right hand to be freed.
“Give me that,” Oscar gestures for the knife.
Lando hands it over without protest, and Oscar cuts through the remaining straps in quick order.
When Oscar is fully freed, Lando immediately pulls him into a hug tight enough to bruise.
“God, Osc. I thought I’d never see you again.”
Oscar pats him on the back, gentle. Lets him cling on, face tucked into his neck, quiet, shuddering exhales tickling his skin. Just when Oscar opens his mouth to ask any of the million questions, Lando pulls away and tugs him towards the door.
“I think it’ll be easier now that I’ve found the real you,” Lando says, opening the door. The light beyond is nearly blinding in comparison to the dim lit room they’re leaving behind. Lando steps out, hand still tight on Oscar’s. Oscar follows.
“The real me?”
They’re standing in a long hallway now, lined with doors of different shapes and sizes. Oscar turns slightly, to look at the one they’ve just left. It’s a simple metal door in a metal frame, a neon yellow handle the only distinguishing feature.
Every fifth door or so is the same. Simple metal, neon yellow handle. The rest have no pattern, as far as Oscar can tell. Here’s a frosted glass door stretching the full height of the corridor, and then a mini-van door with flame decals on the bottom. Here’s a mahogany double door several inches shorter than Lando, followed by a door Oscar could swear is Mark’s front door.
Lando speaks up, drawing his attention away from the oak door with the familiar mail slot. He nods to the door they just left.
“That’s the tenth one I’ve tried. Every other Oscar hasn’t passed the test.”
Oscar’s blood goes cold.
“How did you know,” He stops, unsure how to phrase his question.
“To check?”
Oscar nods.
“The first one was…” Lando pauses. Shivers at something only in his mind. “He was just wrong. I dunno. Didn’t smile right, or something. Like that valley thing.”
Lando’s clearly leaving something unsaid, some bigger reason to put a knife under Oscar’s chin, but he looks like he’s about to start shaking again. Oscar leaves it be, for now. Until they get out of this mess.
“And that’s when you…” Oscar holds up the knife.
Lando nods jerkily.
“I mean, one minute I was on the podium, the next the world went wobbly and I was here. I started opening doors, just trying to get out. Saw a lot of freaking weird shit, okay,” his voice is creeping higher, more defensive with each word, “and then I saw you, and then you weren’t you, and I-“ Lando deflates. “I freaked out, a little.”
“And then you, what, stabbed him?” Oscar tries to keep his voice even. Fails a little, maybe. Lando isn’t meeting his eyes.
“I sort of. Slithistthroat.”
“Sorry?”
Lando clears his throat. He’s tense, shoulders high around his ears, body twisted like he’s ready to bolt.
“Slit his throat.” Lando’s voice tilts up like it’s a question. It’s not.
Oscar stares.
“I freaked out a lot.”
And then he did it eight more times, from the sounds of it. Oscar can’t even imagine. Going from room to room, bed to bed. Waking Lando up, over and over, just to find something terrible in his place. Having to kill something shaped like him, time and time again, with no idea where the real him is. No idea if he’s making a mistake.
Oscar eyes the knife, looking closer. Looking for a distraction in the minutiae.
“It’s, uhm. Clean?”
“They disappear, after. That’s how I knew that I- That’s how I knew.”
That’s how he knew he hadn’t made a mistake, he means. That he hadn’t killed the real Oscar.
“Oh. That’s good, then. That they disappear.”
“Not- not right away.”
Lando looks haunted, briefly. He shakes his head, and starts moving, pulling Oscar along again.
Oscar changes the subject.
“Any idea what we’re looking for?”
“Not exactly,” Lando draws out the vowels. They’re still holding hands. Oscar is thankful for Lando’s tight grip on him, a tether to reality. A reminder that they’re both real. For both of them. “Was mostly hoping if I found the right you things would clear up.”
“Oh, brilliant.”
Lando squeezes his hand and keeps moving, walking much faster than normal.
“What’s the last thing you remember?”
“Getting out of the car.” Oscar squints, picking over his memories. “Going to get weighed, maybe?”
They pass a sliding glass door. The interior is distorted, but it looks like his back door. From home, in Melbourne. Oscar’s chest goes a little tight looking at it, but it doesn’t feel quite right. Nothing like the growing pull towards the end of the hall, and maybe Lando was right about things clearing up. They keep moving. The pull keeps growing.
“D’you feel that?”
Oscar nods. “It’s gotta be coming up.”
Whatever it is, at least.
A quick glance at Lando’s tense face and Oscar knows he’s not alone in that thought.
Lando stops, so abrupt Oscar’s hand nearly slips from his hold.
“Somewhere around here, you think?”
Oscar steps closer, threading his fingers back through Lando’s. He closes his eyes and focuses on the magnetic pull, tugging at some place behind his sinuses. He turns, slow, careful to keep Lando in his grasp, until something clicks into place.
The pressure releases, like ears popping on a flight. Lando makes a weird noise, some kind of suppressed squeak. Oscar opens his eyes.
The other doors have disappeared, leaving only one: three feet away, right in front of them.
It’s plain. Wood, this time, painted white, set in a plain frame. Empty but for a sign with their names on it.
Oscar turns to Lando.
His eyes are wide and searching.
“This has gotta be it, right?”
“Don’t think we have much of a choice now.”
They step forward in unison. Oscar puts his hand on the doorknob, and pauses.
“Just for luck,” he says, and turns, quick as lightning, to kiss Lando.
Just a press of lips, over as soon as it began, Oscar turning back to the door.
Lando makes a noise, deep in the back of his throat, and spins Oscar bodily by the shoulders.
“Just for luck?” He asks, twitchy all over, and pulls Oscar down against him for another, quick until it’s not, both unable to stay apart for long.
They kiss, slow and steady, reassuring, until the pressure in the back of Oscar’s skull starts building again, an incessant reminder that they need to leave.
They break apart.
Oscar twists the knob, watching Lando instead of the door, and opens it, stepping through without looking. Making sure Lando follows.
The door slams behind them.
They’re in another corridor, long and full of doorways, to Oscar’s despair.
Lando starts laughing, tinged with an edge of hysteria.
Oscar opens his mouth to reassure him, and fails. What if there are more Oscars? God, what if there are Landos?
“It’s Hilton, Oscar, it’s freaking Hilton.” He spins around, arms outstretched, before slamming back into Oscar.
“D’you feel that?“ He whispers into Oscar’s shoulder.
“No?” Oscar’s still in shock, a little.
“Exactly, Osc. No pull, no pressure, no caddy valley. We’re fucking free, baby.”

"We're rolling!"
Katsuki as the director behind the camera gives him a thumbs up. The camera light flashes red. He really loathes the entire filming process. All forms of public promotion, actually. But he promised his manager he would turn up and do his best for this interview.
He sighs, looking into the camera with a bored expression.
"Uh. Hi. I'm Bakugou Katsuki. Pro-Hero: Dynamight. I'm here with Heroe's Weekly to do a QnA."
He can hear in his voice how much he doesn't want to be there but doesn't bother to change his face. Off-camera, the crew are snickering. He knows a handful of them, friends of friends. He shoots a glare their way. The director gives him a pleasant look.
"Aw, don't be like that. Your fans have been asking for this forever."
Katsuki snorts, arms pulled over his chest.
"You think I don't know that? Fuckin' everyday on my twitter. You shitheads are so nosy."
"Calling your fans shitheads...your brand is one of a kind."
"Yeah, yeah. I don't get why they all care but whatever. Made a promise so I'm here."
The director laughs.
"Right. So, are you ready for the questions?"
"As I'll ever be."
The interview questions start off as he expects. He really does hate doing them, quick and formulaic responses for most of the basic ones. He's gotten them so many times in his life they don't even really feel like real questions. It's all information that's found easily through some google searching.
Age? 20 something. Star-sign? Who the fuck knows, but he thinks aries. Favorite food? Whatever's spiciest. Why'd you become a hero? Because he wanted to be the best. Who's your favorite hero? Still Allmight.
After the initial round of questions comes the deeper ones. He has to admit they're more well-thought-out than he's used to. With time, he finds ease in talking about the prompts.
What sets you apart from other heroes? Field experience, he thinks. Knowing the position of the victim and the victor young, all thanks to his fucked up teen years. What was your childhood like? Better than most, but god he was such a dick. Is there any advice that you think young heroes should hear, even if they typically don't? Valuing your life is valuing the lives of others, no matter what anyone says.
After the serious questions die down, the director gives him a smug expression. All softened up by the obvious thought that went behind it, her grin is amused.
"...Your viewers wanted to ask some more.. personal question
Katsuki raises an eyebrow.
"Gave me all the good questions upfront to curb my mood, huh? Cheeky fuckers."
"Permission to ask?"
He barks a laugh.
"You can ask whatever the hell you want but I don't know if I'll answer."
"Well, everyone is most curious about your love life."
Katsuki scoffs.
"Not this bullshit again."
"Oh, c'mon! You got voted sexiest hero of the year, of course the people want to know." The director insists, probing him "You can't give even a hint?"
He sighs.
"Give me a second."
Pulling out his phone from his pants, he unlocks it and opens up his text messages. He can practically hear everyone holding their breath but chooses to ignore it.
(sent 2:46pm) they're asking about you. fucking annoying
from baby 💌 (sent 2:46) you already know i don't mind. it might get them to leave u alone.
(sent 2:47) yeah i guess. love you. rest up and ill see you later
from baby 💌 (sent 2:47) love u too kat. see u at home. pick up some food on the way pls i dont wanna make lunch.
He grins at his phone a little, completely lost to the fact he's still with a bunch of annoying people. All of a sudden he wants to go home, clicking his phone.
"Who's got you smiling at your phone like that?"
"My fiancée."
Immediately the studio erupts into chatter. He gives them an unimpressed look, clicking his teeth. Is it really such a huge deal?
"You'd think I just dropped a fucking bomb in here."
"Fiancée?! Is this the first time you're talking about it?"
He nods once.
"Yeah."
"Can you spare us some details?"
"Like what?"
"How you met, what they're like, how you fell in love! The more the better."
He clicks his teeth. This is tiresome, but he relents. Crossing his arms over his chest, his eyes flick up to the ceiling.
"I don't know how to fucking answer any of that. We met on the job, though."
"But we're dying to know!"
"Isn't it fuckin' enough that I said something? What else do you need to know?"
"Are they pretty?" Someone on the crew shouts. Katsuki smirks.
"Better looking than every person in here, yeah."
A bunch of oohs and aahs chorus from around him. He wants this to be over and done with more than anything, but it feels like he can't back out now.
"Well if you can't answer them, maybe it's worth having them answer."
"Are you fucking serious? You want me to call them right now? No fucking way."
"A journalist is never above begging Dynamight. Plus now the whole set wants to know of this mystery person.
"God you people are so persistent." He spits, agitated. He looks directly in the camera "Let me make it very clear. Put this in your final cut. After this, I'm never talking about this shit again. If you ask, I'm kicking your ass."
Katsuki reaches into his pocket for his phone again, fingers hesitating to open it. He does with a deep sigh, tapping your contact in his call list. It rings twice before you answer. He puts you on speaker.
"Hi baby," Your voice is melodic and sweet. Katsuki can't help his smile "Is your interview over?"
The director mouths the word baby in shock and Katsuki gives her a glare.
"No, we're in the middle of it right now. They were asking me annoying questions and I didn't feel like answering them so they told me to call you."
"Oh? So they wanted me to answer, instead?"
"Yeah. Just about how we met and shit. That okay?"
"If it's okay with you I don't mind. What are the questions?"
Katsuki feels a flush crawl up his face.
"Uh. How we fell in love or whatever."
"Oh, how romantic." Your voice is pleasant. Katuski holds the speaker closer to his mic. "Well. Hi everyone. I'm Y/N and I'm Katsuki's fiancée. We met on the job, I'm a support items engineer and I worked on the major mechanisms for his suit."
Katsuki smiles a little at his phone, pleased. The crew greets you and you giggle on the other side of the line.
"We met in a business context first and became friends later. I used to think he was a scary guy but he's really not at all," You pause between sentences. Katsuki feels his stomach flip, smile widening "Mm... falling in love? It wasn't very grand. I think some time in-between I thought that he was a person I'd like to be with. Kinda boring right?"
"It's not boring." He insists. You giggle.
"I'm glad you don't think so. Anyway, it's not a very romantic story. I think if anyone got to know him like I did, they'd also fall in love."
A bunch of aww's sound. Katsuki flushes.
"You're an idiot." He spits. You laugh.
"He's prickly but he's a good person. I hope people are willing to look past him a little and see that."
Katsuki feels his heart give in, emotions rampant.
"You're too sappy for your own good." He says, no malice in his voice.
"Uh-huh. I love you too. Was that good enough?"
"You did good. I'll see you at home."
"See you at home, Kat. Bye everyone!"
Everyone sounds off on a bye and Katsuki hesitates as he clicks the phone off. He rubs the back of his neck, feeling awkward.
"That good enough for you?"
The director shoots him a grin.
"Perfect."
