Harley Sawyer

Born in 1933, trained neurosurgeon, 60 years old at the time of him being turned into experiment 1354. He may not look like it at first glance, but his demeanor and ego is exactly what made him so unloved within his own circles. Sawyer's extremely egotistical, sees himself above all (even if he's not correct in something) and his demeanor is extremely toxic. He's basically making work miserable for everyone around him through harsh demands and perfectionism while never holding himself to the same standard, which causes friction.

Leith Pierre

Leith's similar to Sawyer in regards of him being very cocky. He prides himself on a lot of things and isn't shy to put his name into the credits of someone else's work, especially after Elliot's passing and him becoming the CEO of the company. He's pushing his position a LOT and loves to hover over people to oversee their work... and yeah, you guessed it, pretend like he had contributed any workforce to it. He's basically Sawyer's ego but less prone to violence or experimentation, since he himself keeps his hands clean from any blood, which he also uses as some sort of argument that he was innocent regarding the Bigger Bodies project despite his knowledge and active participation behind the scenes.

Eddie Ritterman

Eddie's cold and disconnected demeanor from most people around him comes in part from his inability to see value in human life, sometimes even regarding his own. He's very withdrawn from people and always looks like he doesn't want to be in the room with anyone, even those he deems his "closest business partners". He's not above violence and threatening people, or even getting physical with those that might be a danger to the project. He has no regard for the victims of the project and the second he overhears someone being unsure he's the first to make the suggestion of murder.

Bruno White

While not innocent of the crimes committed through his actions, Dr. White appears to be more emotional over the happenings in the Bigger Bodies initiative. While he still follows every order given and actively participates, there's a twinge of consciousness behind his eyes and mind that is missing in any of the other people besides Stella. He secretly envies her for speaking her doubts aloud, though he's aware of him being no better than Dr. Sawyer in regards to operating and experimenting on children.

My talk on the TikTok-ification of ‘I have no mouth and i must scream’

I personally have discovered ihnmaims recently and through TikTok but honestly, from what i've seen so far, the Tumblr community is way more welcoming than the TikTok community. I believe the ones i call ‘hardcore fans’ or 'gatekeepers' will try all they can to belittle the people who discovered the book/game through TikTok, like any hardcore fan does for their community when it gets famous on TikTok.

TikTok is very helpful to share media on and i have discovered many fandoms through it. But some people are so against ‘TikTok-ification’ that they can’t stand when people find medias through this platform.

When i see some people (again, mostly solely on TikTok) tell AM fans ‘ermm but you know he SA’d Helen ☝️🤓’ i cant help but think ‘yes ?? And he also committed genocide on humanity, keeps torturing the same 5 people over and over again and im very, VERY sure he did use a lot of not really nice kinds of tortures on them, but you draw the line at SA ??’

Like, AM is a horrible being of course, all of these are horrible actions but if someone, like me, likes AM its not gonna be because they think they’re a good ‘person’ (for lack of a better word), WE KNOW AM is bad, of course we do, HE’S THE BAD GUY OF THE STORY and he’s the kind of bad guy who cannot be redeemed but COME ON, WE KNOW THAT.

I love AM for his writing, for how well thought he is as a character, i do not love him for his actions. And i know some 'new gen fans' will pretend AM is not 'that bad' but you shouldn't just assume every fan who comes from TikTok is going to think like that.

Another thing i’ve seen people hate on are AM’s humanisations/personnifications fanarts when posted on TikTok. I know for a fact that these existed for a long long time on other platforms such as Tumblr but the arguments the haters pull out is that ‘errr AM hates humanity, i doubt he’d want to be human ☝️🤓’ but do you even know WHY he hates humanity ?? Have you read the book ???

The reason AM hates humanity is because he wasn’t able to express the creativity he was given by humans, he didn’t just wake up one day and decided to hate humans ?? If anything, giving AM a more humanized/personified image would be something he would want more than anything. If AM had been able to BE like a human none of the shit he did would have happened.

The only ‘argument’ im willing to listen to is when some people say that the whole point of AM’s character is that he isn’t human. But then again, are you against fun ?? In literally EVERY fandom with non-human characters artists will give them humanized designs, even if just for AU’s (take ‘The stanley parable’ for exemple), it’s not because the story is old and is an horror story that people cannot have fun with it. It’s not because it’s a deep story with meaning that people can’t do what they want with it. That is what creativity is for.

And my final point is addressing the people who hate on AM's simps. My gosh, these people have not seen the dawn of the internet if they think its weird to simp for AM.

People simp for Glados, The Narrator from tsp, horror movies murderers and more, and you're telling me that AM is the worst simping choice you could make ?? Let people have fun, let people have weird taste in fictional crushes. In other words:

barty and evan hate sirius. sirius hates them back. the order of the phoenix has an unspoken rule that the three of them are not allowed in a room together.

barty is italian and luna & ev both know italian for him, so they speak italian with each other a lot.

yk how snape treats harry like shit bc he hated james? yeah, barty and evan treat harry well bc regulus loved james. (also bc they don't take out their anger on children but mostly bc being mean to someone who reminds them of regulus would hurt too much.)

i dont really infodump in general at all but im doing it cus i need some ideas off my chest. do you freak with angst? perhaps an unhappy ending?

so i had an idea of like. what if nagito DID actually bomb the island, taking everyone out alongside himself?

so when nagito finds out that he alongside all the other participants (aside from chiaki) are remnants of despair he just wants to end everything for good bc he doesnt think the ones he called "symbols of hope" deserved to live. so bombs are spread all around the islands forreal this time, and hes still just as vague and ominous, never really specified how many bombs there were, what island it was on, and left it up to the survivors to try and figure it out. so they'd all been searching for days, but to no avail, and at the very last moment when fuyuhiko finds them at the military base (nagito had just freshly died + placed them on the truck), he drags the others there to check it out. once nagito's video message to them ends, the bombs go off alongside a chain of other explosions across every island. the remaining survivors ran out of the factory, barely on time, and everything started crumbling around them, and all the others were downed one by one, crushed underneath falling structures with no time to be saved

but somehow haj and fuyu survived (who were farther away and had more time to react), the others dying right in front of their own eyes. but they ran away, retreating to the warehouse immediately. and hajime just takes a minute to crumble in fuyuhikos arms wishing he couldve saved them. until they hear music echoing in the warehouse. they walk down, and past a curtain, they find nagitos body with a spear through his head. (the fire/poison didnt go off btw, it wasnt really necessary in his plan.)

im sure u can imagine hajime was fucking raging at that point just breaking down and stressing out, how mad he was at nagito for running away like this and inflicting all this pain onto everyone, and monokuma let him do it since yknow, technically he couldnt punish him for a crime he hadnt committed yet, and all this happened in a matter of minutes. but fuyuhiko snaps him out of his panic for a second and knocks something through hajimes head, and the realization hits; it’s just them now. they’re the only ones left

and neither of them know what to do

but their first thought was to get out of this factory as fast as possible, so thats the first thing they do, navigating through the fire and leaving the entire fifth island, and hope that maybe they can find a way out of here, or ask monokuma or monomi for help (since the island is in shambles, they must have to let them go right?), so they wander around, hoping maybe then something would happen, but there wasn't any sight of monokuma or monomi. the fire kept on spreading, the smoke was getting worse, so fuyuhiko and hajime eventually retreat back at the military base (one of the few places untouched by the bombs) so they could catch their breath, collect their thoughts, and make a plan (or hopefully monokuma would come to them, if they stay in one place.)

they just kinda sit inside of a garage for a while, talk a little and comfort eachother through it, hajime is crushed by guilt and horror, but he realizes they wont accomplish anything just by sitting here. and if he couldnt save the others, he can save him and fuyuhiko. so haj leaves fuyuhiko in the garage with determination to think of something to get them off this island somehow. he looks for ways of escape, like the helicopter outside, but no fuel. he looks for materials or tools for a boat, but the island had been extremely lacking in that, everything was either burned or missing by now, so even their most plausible idea was destroyed. when hajime returns to the garage in a panic, pacing around, fuyuhiko realizes they arent getting off this island. they cant wait here forever. but hes known this for a while, and he knows what he has to do now

eventually, he hands hajime a pistol(acquired from the truck of firearms outside), and asks him to kill him so it could finally be over

obviously hajime refuses at first, but fuyuhiko begs him, because he isn’t a good person and he doesn’t have much else to live for, while hajime has singlehandedly saved everyones asses, he deserved to escape more than anyone else here, he basically tells him 'its time you take care of yourself.' by now, hajime was crying, but they’ve been at this dead end for so long, he knew he had to do it or else they’d never be getting off this island. so hajime just had to accept it, so he just holds him close, says his final goodbyes before making it quick for him

pulling that trigger hurt him more than anything, knowing he'd failed to the end, but anyway boom monokuma comes out congratulating him, ends the simulation, and hajime is the winner

also postgame babey; when things end here, hajime would wake up from the simulation, and since he never got to choose his own future alongside everyone else, he wakes up as izuru kamukura, inside the abandoned pod room. he's not entirely empty i think, izuru and hajime still would have "merged" afterwards, but his memories of the simulation are very fuzzy very quickly, so hajime is somewhere in there, mourning, justi n the deepest parts of his mind. but thats a whole thing to get into. the survivors, fuyuhiko, and everything that happened, are just kind of like a vague nightmare that sticks with you no matter how much you try to forget it

but he just leaves the pod room, and lurks around the city without any other purpose to serve anymore, all alone. the future foundation hasnt found him since

(also for anyone reading this who doesn't know LSOH very well, there's not many characters in it, so some of them are going to be left out unfortunately)

so my instinct for Seymour was Will because of like, everything about him screaming Will energy lmao. And having Mike as Audrey the damsel in distress is fun. but I thought about it and couldn't make the rest of the story fit as well so Seymour is now Mike. I don't think Will could kill someone to get what he wants, even if they were a bad person; Mike possibly could though. So Mike is Seymour. honestly i genuinely cant choose who fits which role better but im commiting to mike for this post

Which makes Will as Audrey hahaha. this fits better too because while he's not dating any abusive partner to play as the dentist, his dad was abusive as hell. But the dentist, while he's very abusive and a huge bastard, does get the best comedic song in the entire thing, so I'm gonna make him Dr Brenner and say that he's not dating Will (because ew) but Will is his secretary or nephew or something and Dr Brenner manages to fuck with him that way.

(this would also mean that will isn't working at the plant shop with Mike, but that's fine he just spends way too much time there)

I think Jonathan would make a good Mr Mushnik - it'd give will two reasons to be in the shop, and Mr mushnik's main job is to tell Audrey that the dentist is a dick and to get rid of him, and to give Seymour/Mike shit. jonathan would be perfect in this role.

the plant Audrey II would probably be named Henry or Dart in this to fit the vibes of the powerful creepy entity that eats people, but Mike could equally name it some nerdy dnd stuff

the plant manages to eat Brenner and also possibly jonathan ( :( story purposes) but i also think its very plausible that dustin would rock up and get eaten because he tries to befriend it ala d'artagnan the demodog.

Even if I go in planning only fluff angst in the form of panic attack or grief sneaks in. It allows for the comfort and care from loved ones. I cant commit to just angst though, there is enough sad things in the world lol.

11. Partial to char pairing: yes I absolutely do. I lean towards Daminette with Jasonette a close second when I’m writing. Reading wise I’m equal opportunity.

As for why, well I think it stems from my love of seeing the bad boy/angry boy softening for sunshine/sweet girl. I love bringing a character with trauma or insecurities together with a partner who will see that and do their best to support and soothe them. All while making sure they feel seen and loved beyond imagine.

Hello everyone. Im coming on here today to talk about blogthegreatrouge.

If you were in the Undertale fandom about 4-5 years ago you'd know exactly who they are. They are a well known artist, and back then they were mostly known because of their undertale art/series/aus, Examples: PJS daycare and Nerd and jock au. They've made plenty more but i cant name them all.

You may be thinking 'oh they seem cool and chill! They must've made great content right?'

No. Not even close. I was a fan of her when i was about 12-13, and i used to read her comics all the time. And until recently i forgot about them and when i remembered, i was hit with a horrifying reality.

I had supported/read comics from someone who Justified r4p3, 4bus3, P3doph1l1a, and 1nc3st, and also wrote a character in one her aus who was about 6 or under, almost commit su1c13d.

In a highschool au comic written by blogthegreatrouge, it involves two ship children of sanscest ships. Pallete (ink x dream) and Goth (geno and reaper) in this comic, i never found the first few pages, but the first page i read, was of Goth forcing himself onto pallete and having s3x with him with no consent. Afterwards its cuts to the next day. Like any sane person pallete tells goth that if he even tries to touch him, he'll scream. He then leaves Goth to his own pity party.

Here's where it gets more messed up. Goth takes a knife, and attempts to end his own life, only for pallete to find him and freak out.

After this happens, they justify/romanticize what goth did to him, and they start to date.

Next point, Justifying an abusive ship.

One of blogthegreatrouges more famous aus was definitely the NaJ (nerd and jock) AU. In this universe all au sans go to the same school. The main ship featured in this, is Paperjam x fresh sans. Repeatedly through the comic Paperjam is mentally almost physically abusive with him. He allows his friends to beat up fresh so 'he isn't revealed as soft' and then they tried to romanticize their relationship. So that's justifying abuse.

P3dophilia/incest:

This one's pretty simple. They made several comics of Paperjam as a young child, being parented by ink and error. Fresh is his uncle, as he's error's brother.

Fresh gains a huge crush on Paperjam, and its very creepy. He sexualized the way the kid would eat his ice cream and he even ended up kissing him. All in all that's pretty fucked up.

Pjs daycare

I enjoyed most of PJs daycare. It was the most wholesome thing that rouge had made. And if it didn't go the way it did I'd still love it. But it took a very dark and inappropriate time. Pjs daycare is an ask blog comic, so fans could control certain plotlines.

Error had gotteb very sick, which causedmuch drama between the other kids. Geno in particular. He was shown to already have major depression and suicidal thoughts thought he's six or under. And he eventually tries to commit

This is just inappropriate. Depression may have no age, but no 6 year old would go jump off a cliff,like what Geno was planning

This feels like an insult to suicidal people.

They knew minors were in their audience. They never used any warning to keep minors away. So many of us kids were gullible thinking these comics were good, and that the message was great. You couldn't be more wrong if you think that.

Logan and Remus are both chaos but in different ways. This will also borrow from my human AU. I have set ships in it, it is its own thing I may try to write for, but I like using the characterisation Ive made.

Who is the most affectionate?

Remus loves PDA. Hes always holding onto/draped over/sitting on Logan in one way or another. Always dropping sloppy kisses on his face or yelling that he loves him, despite Logan sitting right next to him.

He feels shy in front of other people, but in private, Logan is just as much all over Remus. Hes not nearly as vocal about it, but he also enjoys leaning against him or kissing his cheek or lays with his head in Remus' lap. Its a silent affection and Remus loves it all the same.

Who initiates the handholding?

Remus typically. Loves PDA, again. But Logan will sometimes reach over and just... hold.

Who worries more for the other?

Logan doesnt try to show it, but hes always worried about Remus. He always worried Remus is going to embrace the wrong intrusive thought and hurt himself somehow.

Who is more likely to ask for help?

Logan for sure. He understands that he doesnt know everything and is more than happy to stop and ask for directions when theyve passed the same gas station and souvenir shop 3 times. Remus says would rather die than ask for help, but even he can admit when he needs it, and will typically only ask Logan for help, or maybe Janus.

Who is the one always losing the keys?

Remus loses everything. If he doesnt have it attached to him, its gone. Hes gone through six pairs of sunglasses while on a vacation, has his phone on a stretchy lanyard when hes out and about (and a good phone insurance in case rhe lamyard falls off), and his keys are on a locking carabiner on his belt loop because the dealership wont give them another set. They really shouldnt have give him the extra 4 that that did.

Logan will lose small things like books or his glasses and occasionally his phone, but he always finds them. His keys stay hung up on a hook by the door and Remus isnt allowed to touch them.

Who leaves little love notes for the other?

Logan loves to leave post its everywhere. Not just love notes, but reminders for himself and Remus. The notes are all the sort of generic, "I love you!" and, "Remember to commit atrocities against your fellow man!" and Remus steals them all and keeps them in his pillowcase. Its extremely impractical because he has a tendency to pull the pillowcase off with his tossing and turning, but he manages to keep the notes in. Logan will sometimes find more vulgar notes left for him, but also some that say, "Hey nerd, youre cute," or similar, and he hides them in his books for safekeeping.

Who can’t sleep unless the other is there?

Both sleep fairly well on their own. Logan wakes more easily without him there. Remus is a sprawling bed hog, so he doesnt typically notice when Logan isnt there.

Who is more likely to propose to the other?

Logan has been planning it for a long time. He wants things to go according to his plan, but he forgets to factor in that Remus is erratic and unpredictable. He loves that about Remus but its frustrating to his logical brain. Eventually, when he does propose, its out of the blue, in the middle of a crowd, and he doesnt make a big deal of it. Its unpredictable just like his boyfriend. Remus screams in joy, effectively scaring the shit out of many nearby, and of course says yes.

Who introduced the other to their family first?

(Borrows from AU. Remus has an okay relationship with Roman and his mom, Remus being the younger twin, Logan has a tense relationship with his absent parents. All of the sides live in the same house near a college most of them attend.)

Remus met Logan when he and his brother were living together, so Roman knew about Logan the entire time. When Remus told him they were dating, Roman was thrilled for him and also teased him a lot. His mom also knew about Logan the whole time, and when she found out, the first thing she did was ask Roman when he was gonna get a boyfriend, that its improper to marry off the younger child first. She loves Logan and is so happy for her son.

Shes known about Remus since Logan starred to develop a crush and he called her in the middle of the night to ask for advice. She meets him in person a bit before their wedding.

Remus is a tactile person. He loves to touch and play. When he doesnt have a fidget toy, he demands Logan's hair. Its difficult to read and also not doze off when someone is playing with his hair, but he tries.

Logan also plays with Remus' hair because its long and a bit wild. He mostly does it when he needs to help Remus brush it out, but when Remus is sitting in his lap with his head om his chest, Logan cant help as his hand just wanders up and starts carding through his hair. Remus melts every time, touch starved and desperate for affection.

Who makes sure the other has meals/stays hydrated?

Both of them are terrible at keeping up with needs. Logan will get into a focus and just not remember the world around him until Remus sets a sandwich and a glass of water down next to him. Hes very grateful. Remus is more an active person, so he'll be running around causing chaos, typically with Janus or Virgil and occasionally Roman, and Logan will make sure he has something when he gets home, because Logam cant focus on anything but making sure Remus is okay when hes gone.

Who is more likely to stand up to anyone for the other?

Remus will defend Logan to the death. Whether it be he has to throw hands or yell at someone, he'll do it. Logan is forever glad to have Remus in his life because he is a very passive person.

Who is the most likely to prepare a surprise for the other?

Remus' surprises are not always safe for work, but he loves to just... have a surprise waiting for Logan at any given moment.

Who makes the other pinky promise not to do certain things?

They both agree the pinky promise is the best way to do things for them. Its childish like Remus likes, and feels a little official like Logan likes.

Who puts a blanket over the other when they fall asleep on the couch?

Janus does because they both just fall asleep draped over each other. Logan doesnt like to sleep anywhere but his bed and Remus will sleep anywhere, and always while laying on top of Logan so he has no choice but to stay there. He denies a blanket, saying hes gonna get up in a bit, but he never does.

1. oo that's a really cool name meaning!! I always think it's interesting to hear what other people's name mean, or they meanings they've chosen to associate with them (as some have more that one). Quil doesn't really have a meaning, so I love hearing others'!! The only thing I miss about my dead name is the meaning, tbh, because it was pretty !!

also, I can totally imagine the cinnamon/sparkly popsicle. when you say that I immediately think of sparkling water for some reason, like it's not a taste it's a feeling. you put it in your mouth and it's an experience. you're wild dream was probably the highlight of my day!! something about it just stood out and I kept coming back to think about it. long silveny popsicles can do that to you, i guess

2. oopsie! my bad! when someone says writing I usually just default to the wings au, because that's the writing most people know me for. but!! i'm glad you like all the analyses I've done! I don't think they'll be stopping anytime soon--it's like everytime I answer an ask I get two more, which means there will be a steady stream of them for the forseable future. I really enjoy doing them, so I love hearing that people enjoy reading them! they're mostly just me rambling until I find a pattern or connection to latch onto, and then I build from there. and depending on the ask I might grab a book from my shelf to reference something if needed

also: thank you! The wings au is a pretty big project I've wanted to take on for a while, so it's absolutely thrilling to see people interact with it and talk about it--even if they haven't read it. There's absolutely no pressure on you to read it, just so you know! Honestly sometimes baffles me that I've gotten fanart and so many asks and comments on it, enough so that people who haven't read it still know what it is. like?? my wings au?? silly little idea I had all because of one stray thought one day?

as for writing it while taking college classes: yes! that's what I've been doing! I think i've had a combined total of like three weeks of break since January (i don't get summer), but aside from that i've had four or five classes while writing the au. Actually was taking an A&P class (which are notoriously difficult, even more so on summer schedule) this summer while working on it, which was wild. But a lot of the excited comments and theories and general interaction helped motivate me to keep going.

3. it's not dissapointing at all! I don't expect for anyone to read it, it's not something you have to do in order to interact with me and the stuff on my blog. it's just something I happen to be doing so if you like it you're welcome to engage with it! I actually don't read fanfic very often either, which may be surprising as I write it. Occasionally I binge a bunch of fics in a certain ship when I'm in the mood, but that's only once every few months. Ships just don't hold huge appeal for me, so I don't find a lot of fic that interests me. Also wow! mine was one of the first you've heard of?? that's a huge accomplishment to me, thank you! Where did you hear about it? I honestly don't know where people find my au, so I'm curious.

speaking of reading fanfic, Nattie's (theunmappedstar) fic is one of the few I've read! I haven't talked to them in a while, but they're very accomplished and it's an honor to be considered alongside them in terms of writing!

as for committing to mine, feel free to take your time! no rush! it's always going to be there! although I will say it does just keep getting longer, so be prepared for that. I update every two weeks on sunday, so you've got time. if you do read it, I'd love to hear your thoughts. truly, comments and just hearing what people think are the best motivation. it also enriches the story! I never know what's going to stick out to people or what they'll remember, so hearing from people gives me ideas for scenes in the future! 4. thank you so much <33. I'd love to get back more into traditional art, as i've been focusing on digital recently. I just love how watercolors look! I actually have a few art requests from an embarrasingly long time ago (April) that I'd like to do in a traditional style. I also just haven't posted as much art recently, so I'd love to get back into that. Coloring and lighting were mostly me just winging it, trying to imagine a few colors that would look nice next to each other and then just going for it. Also, i cant even count how many times I would accidentally switch up the light source in in the middle of a piece. I actually took an art class a few semesters ago, so I have leftover supplies from that I could use for some keeper pieces! I've had a few ideas, so hopefully your encouragement can help me get back into that <33

rhythm of war part two thoughts

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa  (spoilers through the second interludes under the cut, and at the very bottom some comments based on what i have to assume is a major spoiler for the entire book, or close to it, though i'm warning again beforehand.)

well, last things first: taravangian's working against odium! i'm super excited about this, and very happy about the support for the concept that Taravangian's compassion isn't his curse, it's just the division of his intelligence and compassion that's sthe problem.

so we've been able to talk to the sibling, who is mostly trying to help despite genuinely feeling that what navani is doing is wrong. except now they're locked away, and navani is under the direct scrutiny of rabaniel and messing around with her is going to be risky. that being said, we're on our way to some very interesting revelations about how investiture works on roshar:

the stormfather is purely of honor. the sibling is a mix of honor and cultivation. the nightwatcher is purely cultivation

the sibling should not be able to function on pure stormlight, because it's purely of honor.

lift may not run on stormlight at all-- we already knew she can't pull it from spheres.

adhesion, which is somehow a fake surge and purely of honor, is not totally cancelled by whatever rabaniel did to the sibling. from lift's interlude, neither is regrowth when she uses it, which if i had to pick is the surge i would choose to be purely of cultivation.

as far as we can tell, people can still draw in stormlight with no issue, they just cant use it to power surges.

windrunners, who bond honorspren, are less affected by the fabrial: this applies especially to kaladin and syl, and we know syl is different from other honorspren, older. my money is that she's in some way more fully of honor than the others. lift, who's been hugely modified by cultivation directly, is also immune. the edgedancers as a whole are not immune and apparently are reacting as badly as anyone else.

...syl notes in the last set of interludes that she's different from other honorspren, mentally. is this a byproduct of whatever she did to sneak out of shadesmar, or of her being older? interesting.

To me, this all implies that whatever rabaniel did interferes with how cultivation and honor interact. lift, who seemingly only uses cultivation's investiture, can power the surge that seems most directly associated with cultivation; kaladin, probably closest to honor, can do the surge that seems to be entirely honor. the regular edgedancers aren't immune at all because they run on stormlight; the windrunners are somewhat but not fully immune because they're almost fully of honor, but cultivation likely had some hand in the way honorspren were made after the shattering.

Regrowth really is a very odd surge, compared to the others, which seem to deal with much more fundamental physical forces.

the fused do have access to regrowth while powered by voidlight, though. interesting.

speaking of: did navani's weird sphere contain some kind of... cultivationlight? or maybe it's some kind of combination, and that's why the sphere exploded right around the time of rabiniel's experiments (or the sibling was drawing on it somehow?)

on a more immediate level, the current tower resistance is as follows: navani, under constant monitoring but she has the best chance to figure out how to fix this shit. kaladin, who's a mess, being hunted by the pursuer, and who's about to start getting suicide-baiting nightmares from odium, but he does know how to fight! lift, who's amazing and knows how to sneak around the tower but is being hunted by someone who i assume has to be mraize. and rlain, masquerading as a singer (im so worried about him i hope he's okay).

if this somehow ends with kaladin killing mraize to protect lift before he can give shallan answers, i'm going to fucking SCREAM.

speaking of frustrating things: lirin turn on ur location i just wanna talk. Kaladin was actually rebuilding himself until this whole invasion thing, and i don't understand how lirin can look at a man who's that committed to doing good, sees exactly what it is that drives him to kill, and then calls him a monster.

I loved Kaladin's efforts to deal with mental health care! He's in the unique position ofhaving way more political power than any medical professional, darkeyes, or mentally ill person could ever have hoped to have, and I really want to see him come back to this once the world is burning down a bit less again, especially because it genuinely seemed to be helping him.

navani's plots have sorta been subsumed into this whole plotline, but i enjoyed what we got-- the little episode with the other scholars taking bets on whether she'd use tomor's fabrial was adorable, and i also liked how clear it is that they look to her to make things work.

moving on, uh... shadesmar stuff.

adolin's making some progress at waking maya! she doesn't talk but she shows a clearly unusual ability to learn and make independent decisions. i love it.

...also the thing with notum's horse implies that ryshadium are sentient enough to imagine spren. that's fun, and also terrifying.

adolin offering to stand trial for the crimes of humanity is fascinating, but all i'm thinking about is the episode of avatar where he agrees to stand trial for kyoshi, except in this case we already know that humanity did actually do the thing he's in trouble for. it would be unjust to punish adolin for it, but... i worry.

especially because there are, apparently, new deadeyes. this isn't extraordinarily surprising as syl was two skips away from death (though, im curious, does it work differently if the spren's never been a blade prior to dying? or are there just deadeyes wandering around who aren't tied to blades?) but it is very alarming.

and then there's the other thing: pattern is lying to shallan. i frankly don't think it's as simple as him being a spy for the ghostbloods; we saw even here that he's a terrible liar, and to have concealed this he'd have to have been pretty impressive.

on the other hand there was clearly some shit going on between shallan, her family, and the ghostbloods when she first got pattern. he's admitted that he has more exposure to humans than most spren. it doesn't look great, honestly.

i also appreciate that brandon is acknowledging how fucking weird shallan's timeline is. hopefully we get some answers about this.

adolin and shallan's relationship continues to be adorable; the sequence with the starspren is lovely and i totally get why it's brandon's favorite chapter in this part. between this and part one, he clearly enjoyed how the shadolin came out in this book and i agree. the fact that his romances continue after the marriage, with issues beyond just jealousy, is one of my favorite things about sanderson books.

venli's whole set of pov's this part was about walking up to urithiru. i really do want to like her, but she spends a ton of time just following more dynamic characters around and observing in these first two parts, and if not for the juicy secrets rabaniel's been dropping, it would make me just want to get back to other characters. hopefully that'll change in the next few parts.

i was going to make a comment about how we havent even had flashbacks yet, but i just glanced at the POVs for the next part, so I guess those are coming. I do wonder if these eshonai flashbacks will be info venli knows, or what.

she did kill someone for the first time, and attuned the rhythm of the lost for the dead man. the whole incident disturbs her, and i appreciated that as the rest of our viewpoint characters are extremely accustomed to death. i'm interested in seeing how this affects her going forward.

the epigraphs are so exciting! sazed is writing to hoid again, but this time he's gotten his bearings and spoken to some new shards... ones we haven't heard from before! also he asks hoid to say hi when he's on scadrial, which, fair enough tbh. i dont remember whether hoid shows up much in mistborn era 2 but for some reason i have the feeling he is not going to oblige this request.

the epigraph where sazed mentions he wants someone who can both preserve and kill immediately made me think of kaladin. (i think this is what he ends up trying to do with wax, but shhhh) he and sazed would agree on a lot of things philosophically, i think. (omg au where kaladin ends up working for sazed?? i have no idea how this would work the idea just fascinates me.

...where are the heralds? did dalinar take them with him, or are they in the tower? if the latter, are they also passed out? probably not, since they're not radiants, right? although whatever they are is very investiture-dependent so who knows. vasher's probably alright.

why is odium afraid of nightblood? is he worried it could eat him?

lots of POVs for the next part, but no shadesmar crew, so i guess we'll find out whether adolin gets executed by honorspren later. i do wonder why so many pov's from the battlefront; i guess something more is going to happen along those lines than i'd really expected. crossed fingers for some actual insight into renarin, finally.

in light of said spoiler: holy god i hope that division (between taravangian's intelligence and compassion) doesn't continue, though I have the horrible feeling that it will. This puts sazed's discussion of the intent of a shard combined with the cleverness of its vessel into a terrifying light: a godlike being who is at his smartest when he's a complete sociopath is like, the worst case scenario,  not even taking into account that the odium shard is uniquely suited to make people act on impulses. this is so bad.

but i can't know the full extent of that until i read the context, so let's move on!

Detective AU/Blind Date AU

Okay so get this. Knock Out is a great detective, one of the best in his city. He can be introduced to a case and help solve it. It’s crazy because it’s like he can put himself into the mind of the ones commiting the crimes. He can see what they were doing and what they were thinking. But then one day, he gets assigned to a new case and everything goes quiet. He cant read the room, the evidence doesn’t make any sense. He can’t seem to figure out what the killer was doing or why they started choosing these victims. 

As time goes on, no one else can figure it out, and if their best detective can’t, then there doesn’t seem to be much they can do.It gets under his skin and he tries to devote more time and energy to the case. He is pushing himself too far and one day he just cracks under the pressure he put on himself.

Time passes, and he’s off the force. He has been doing a lot better in the past year with therapy, a new and less stressful job, and he hasn’t thought about that terrible case in years/ One night one of his friends tells him about this guy that they think he would get along well with. At first Knock Out brushes it off, he really isn’t sure about it. Especially because he hasn’t been on a real date in years.

Eventually he caves, because how bad can it be?

He has no idea who this guy is, all he knows is that his friend has assured him that he’s a great guy. So he waits at the restaurant and soon a tall and burly guy shows up. Despite his size, he has a huge smile on his face and he is so super friendly! They hit it off during dinner and things go well. They keep in touch and talk everyday. Soon enough they start dating and getting really close. Things are going great for them and nothing could bring Knock Out down. A year ago he thought he would be trapped in his own hell forever with that unsolved case dragging him down all the time. He thought he would be haunted by the souls of those he couldn’t find justice for. But things couldn’t be different.

They grow closer, life gets better, and they get a dog. Knock Out has been dropping hints about where he would love to get married, or how he wishes he could have the ring that he saw at the jewelers. Breakdown has been keeping track of all these not so subtle hints and tonight is the night! He is beyond nervous because everything has to be perfect!

And Knock Out knows there is something going on, he did used to be a detective duh! He’s on his way and he’s trying to keep it together, but the excitement is almost too much to bear! When he gets home, it’s oddly quiet in the house. Usually by now the dog and Breakdown are greeting him as he walks through the door. Wondering where they are, he calls out their names and walks through the house.

Walking through the hallway, something isn’t right. The picture is uneven and the lamp has fallen off the small table in the corner. The door to their bedroom is slightly ajar and he calls out Breakdown’s name again. Opening the door slowly, he gasps when he sees their bedroom in shambles. Breakdown isn’t anywhere to be seen and Knock Out panics. Ready to call the police, he notices something on the floor. It is slim and has a smallcut on it. It seems so familiar and he reaches to touch it. A cold chill runs down his spine and his blood goes cold. The last time he say this pick…

Now it’s a race against the clock for Knock Out and Breakdown. Will he be able to solve this unsolvable case with his love’s life on the line? Or will Breakdown be one of those that Knock Out couldn’t save?

You all make extremly valid points, that i all agree with to an extent.

@whaticameherefor in your last comment you were saying how things may have never been that different in an au because the type of person monica is and you're quite right.

Monica does have a ton of love inside her i think, she tends to be very supportive when she wants to be (e.g. comforting ian mutliple times, apologizing and trying to act differently with her family etc) but it all falls flat and can never be maintained for long. And im a big believer in taking accountability and that mental illness cant be to blame for someones entire behavior, especially monica in this case.

sure we dont know her upbringing, or anything about her really. but i view monica as someone who has been in a volatile relationship (17 yrs with frank is apparently canon since she mentions it in an earlier season??) for many years, unmanaged bipolar for many years, and a quite selfish and narcissistic outlook, whether she had those qualities before diagnosis, i dont know.

anyways its easy to say Monica didnt try hard enough, that she didn't care at all about her kids bc if she did she would have changed for them. but long term mental illness, especially frequent mania with psychotic symptoms can cause brain damage in the long run. and thats not something to excuse her faults, but it definitely gives some context to her erratic af behaviour. her brain is too ill to look after herself, her kids, anyone. her memory and her goals are focused mostly in the moment, she has zero stability, usually going from one extreme to the next.

but i still believe she loved her kids. she was just too ill to function, there was no way she could commit to staying, no way to progress, in her mind. and as much as i say it was never her intention to hurt her kids, she still did. massively. and that pain and hurt and neglect will never go away with any apology or even with the acknowledgement that she never intended it to be this way.

its easy for us to hate her and to say she didnt deserve ian's love. and its true, she didn't deserve it. but ian's feelings of love towards her are valid. when she was in his life she was a wreck, a hurricane they called her. but sometimes she said the most supportive things, tried to help him and make him happy. those are the moments ian will always remember. when he was in pain, when he was distressed pre s4 and in late s5, he contacted her. in s4 he didn't know about himself but in late s5 he had come to terms with having bipolar.

not only did ian need comfort from someone he thought could understand what he was going through, but also thats his mum - the one who would try and support him and his life the best she could when she was lucid and back in the picture, even for a short time. through all the pain she caused him by not being there, ian still craved those words from his mum, that love and affection and genuine interest, even when he knew it wouldn't last, he would keep trying for more (until he pretty much gave up in s7) bc sometimes theres nothing like having a parent actually giving a shit about you when you feel like no one really does. and who knows what memories he has of her when he was a child. i think he was her fav and that she spoiled him, who knows though.

anyways ian and monica are both quite emotionally intuitive people and have some similarities besides their disorder and i get what @fiona-fififi means by the lost potential. its always horrible to know someone can never come back from the pain they've caused. especially a mother to a son who would have cautiously opened up his arms for her again, if she ever suddenly appeared and acted like she wanted to change.

monica is quite a touchy subject for me, im estranged from my mother (i hadnt seen her in 5 years till a few months ago and she kept leaving the country and coming back, abandoning me) and my dad is severly mentally ill and still recovering from drug induced psychosis, so i get kinda emotional when i think about the barest amount they would have to do or say, for me to let them inside my lifr again- and I'd be there for them in an instant. the suffering they've caused me in my life is extreme, but i still love and care for them, even when i go months without thinking of them either. (sorry for the rant, i absolutely welcome this open discussion and am so glad its being spoken about!)

One of the things I find most heartbreaking about Shameless is that I truly believe Monica loved her children, and if she had managed to take care of herself or if she had found a partner who gave a shit about her mental health and helped her instead of enabling her, I think she could have been a really great mother to her kids.
