Day 8, Are we fighting or flirting? My first thought was on that moment in Shippuuden when they first met, but i didn't want to redraw it, so then i remembered this ending and it was like obvious choice. Honestly, i didn't have to think up anything, they did it for me already. The whole story of it

Pairing: Cloud x fem! Reader
Summary: some of the Sector 7 girls think it's cute to move in on your territory
A/n: why are there literally only 4 Cloud gifs-
Tumblr media
While Cloud was out doing jobs for people around the sector, you were out running errands. You had finished your last task, dropping some things off at the bar for Tifa and were on your way home when you saw Cloud on the way. He seemed to be talking to some girl, and you didn't think anything of it until you saw how she was talking to him.
You didn't trust the look on her face or that innocent stance she took. However, you thought you were just acting crazy until you saw it. Cloud was trying to walk away when the girl grabbed his wrist. Once he was in front of her again, she dragged an index finger down his chest.
Your blood became lava inside of your veins. You were hardly in control of your body as you stormed quickly over to Cloud and the girl trying to hit on him. Hardly thinking, you grabbed onto Cloud's arm, only squeezing him a bit.
You spoke to the girl, "Sorry, but he's done for the day." You forced your lips into a smile as you hurried off, tugging on clouds arm.
The girl looked like she was going to protests, but you walked away before her mouth could open. Now, you were walking down the road with Cloud close to you and visible anger radiating from your face.
Cloud was a bit concerned. He had never seen you so angry, and you were grabbing him so tight that it almost hurt. After another second of your firey silence, Cloud gently tried to reclaim his arm.
"Y/N," he called your name gently. "You okay?"
While you didn't respond, your grip did loosen into more of a caress, which Cloud very much enjoyed.
"Babe." He called more sternly.
"I'm fine."
So much irritation dripped from your voice that Cloud knew you were lying. It took him longer than it should have, but it dawned on Cloud the reason you were so upset.
"Babe, is this about that girl back there?"
Your hands tensed over him. "Of course it is, Cloud."
Finally realizing what was going on, Cloud calmed down significantly. You were only jealous, and honestly, it was pretty cute. You clung to him to show everyone in Sector 7 that he belonged to you. Between that and the pout on your face, you fussing over him put butterflies in Cloud's stomach.
"You know I wasn't entertaining her, right?" He looked over at you.
"Yeah, of course I do, but that didn't seem to stop her."
Cloud chuckled to himself before surprising you by leading you over to the side. While he leaned against a wall and you stood in front of him, Cloud took both of your hands.
"Y/N," he said. "You know I'm yours, right?"
Those watercolor eyes pierced into yours with a soft loving gaze as Cloud toyed with your fingers.
"Of course, but—"
He cut you off. "And you know I'll always be yours."
"Yeah, still—"
"I'll admit, you're cute when you're jealous, but you don't have to be."
"I'm not—"
You almost stammered out the rest of your sentence, but you were stopped once again. Instead of Cloud's words, however, they were his lips. He pulled you into him and transferred the rest of his reassurance to you through a loving kiss. One hand cupped your cheek while the other rested on your lower back.
However, then was something you didn't realize. Cloud know exactly what he was doing. He led you to the side of a store just outside the marketplace and in front of the Sector 7 apartments. He knew a few people would see you, but we wanted to relay the message.
Cloud pulled away and looked deep into your eyes. "I know who I belong to."

[One shot] drunk talk - JJ Maybank
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PAIRING: jj Maybank x fem!reader
SUMMARY: you are helping your ex best friend and enemy, JJ when he is drunk
WARNINGS: alcohol, language, family issues
A/N: so this is a typical enemies to friends (and lovers in the future) romantic trope. I hope you guys will enjoy it. Also english is not my first language so im sorry for my mistakes.
..........................................................................................
The beach at 1 am was different. There was so quiet. The only thing what you could hear was the ocean. You loved sitting at the beach at night. It was a perfect time for thinking about everything what happened.
You were a kook. And yeah everybody thought you had an easy life. But it wasn't true. Your parents had money only because they were hard working. They spend the whole day in theirs work. After came back they pretend to care about you. Your parents literally thought only about money. They tried to have a control under you. But you were smart. You realized it before. For your whole life you were alone. You didn't have a lot of friends. Your parents doesn't support you at all.
So you spend every single summer day alone. Sometimes you went to other city, sometimes you were surfering and sometimes you just stayed in your room. But it doesn't matter. You did it all alone. You had a brother but he studied in Chicago. Well your brother was also not very nice. He screamed at you a lot. Actually there was a few times when he hurted you.
At last no one knew about it. You always kept it to yourself. You family was kinda popular in your city. Everybody thought you were perfect family.
Spending nights at the beach was something which helped you a lot. Looking at the moon while listening to the ocean was like therapy for you. No one knew about it.
You sat on the sand. Even it was 2 am, the weather was nice. Fresh air was something what you needed. After more then 1 hours you decided to go home. Everything was normal until you saw someone laying on the beach. That person was definitely a boy around your age. You came closer to him. His blond hair were covered his eyes but you knew him.
It was a JJ Maybank. The most adventurous pogue which you knew. Your enemy. When you were kids you were friends. But then he realized you were a kook and he was a pogue. And the sick rule here didn't allow him to being friends with you. So he decided to stopped talking to you. But you were 7 and didn't get it at all. Sometimes when he saw you at the beach he just stared at you till you saw him. He never told you he missed you. Instead of this he was mean to you. So you decided to ignore him.
But in that moment he was sleeping. He definitely was drunk because he smelt like whiskey. You touched him arm to woke up him but it doesn't work.
"JJ you dumbass wake up" you said but he didnt heard it. Well the only idea which you had was hit your enemy He was strong so it wasn't gonna hurt him. So as you thought, you did it. It worked because he opened eyes
"JJ are you stupid or what? " You asked him. He was suprised to see you but smiled.
"Y/n what are you doing here? I thought you don't like me anymore" He answered to your question without actually answering.
"Yeah I don't like you because you acted like totally jerk but right know you are laying on the beach at 2am being drunk as fuck" You said it to him. He had s problem with alcohol and you knew it. Everybody here knew it. But he wasn't your friend anymore so you couldn't do anything with it. Everytime when you saw him with his friends getting high and drunk you were sorry. He was special. You were kids but even that you knew his second face. The true face. You helped him to hide from his dad. He slept in your house without permission so many times.
"Its nice to see you again y/n" He whispered to you. After it he standed up and was trying to go somewhere but it doesn't work because he was already high.
"And where are you going?" You asked him while looking at him. He was funny. He had problem with catching the balance. He didn't answer you because he almost fell on you. And at the end you had to kept him.
"Is your dad at home? " You again asked him. You knew how his dad treated him. You never like it. He was just a piece of shit.
"No" he laughed. It was a good news for you. JJ was so drunk and he needed sleep. If his dad was in home it could end bad. Thank god Maybank lived closed to the beach and you were in his house faster then you thought.
You put JJ on his bed and went for some water. His house doesn't change a lot. You knew where was a kitchen. You actually knew his house well.
"So here you have a water. I'm going to my house right now and you must go to sleep." You told him. It was the first time since almost 10 year when you talked with him. It was felt different. He changed a lot. He grown up.
"Y/n i didn't meant it." He whispered to you.
"What are you talking about?" You asked. You weren't sure if he was serious or its just s drunk talk
"I didn't want to left you. I thought we were be still friends. I still like you pretty girl" He looked at your eyes. He was sorry. You didn't expected to hear something like that today.
"It hurts so much. Yeah I have friends right now but when I see you, all the memories come back. I think almost every day how much different it would be looks like if we will be still friends." Yeah he told it. He told everything what you had in your mind. It was kinda nice to heard that your ex best friend misses you.
"JJ you ruined us"
"Y/n I know. I hate it. I really didn't what to do it. I want to be with you again. You are a kook and I am a pogue but I don't care about it" He sound honest. That was a shook for you. You never expected to heard things like that from him.
"You are drunk right know. If you will remember these things tomorrow, I think we should talk about it but as sobers." You told him and left his house. Todays night was the most crazy night ever. You didn't know what you should do.

Hm... This has been bouncing around my head for a while, I was wondering, how would you handle a zoro x beefy fem!reader who fits into the patient 'gentle giant' trope, at least until that strength is needed? As in, she can and will break people in half if her nakama is in real danger. Maybe the first occurrence when she 'snaps' into this cold fury is kind of frightening, unexpected... but kinda hot?
An Unexpected Match
(SFW)
Warning: Water 7 spoilers, slight mentions of fighting
Summary: Intimated by your strength, Zoro took no notice when you joined the crew, only to later find himself in a spiral of attachment to his newfound crush; the gentle giant.
Word Count: 2,500
(A/n: I started to write this as a literal giant reader and got so carried away I didn't realise until I had all but finished that I had to restart the request. I also apologise I haven't been posting a lot for the last few months both mentally and physically I've been through it and I am exhausted)
Tumblr media
The Strawhats stumbled across you in a bleak aftermath of rubble, destined to find their missing friend, to only be met with someone overgrown and timid, waiting for them to strike.
Luffy was infatuated by you the second he saw you, like a shiny new toy in a pile of rusted second-hand gifts. He had only crossed a handful of tall women before you, but non were quite as impressive and buff like you were.
Wasting not a moment longer, Luffy was quick to plead you to join his crew, wishing for the addition to his once low number. Unsure of a proper response you agreed, letting them sweep you up in a serious of frightful and dangerous adventures. New to the crew you stayed timid and uneventful, the exposure to numerous battles only fearing you more. You felt out of place with the kind and bonded people you now called your friends, your status making you feel outcast. It was easy to remind yourself of the differences placed between yourself and your friends; the height being one of the many obvious.
Your friends had to accommodate to your addition height and strength, drawing even more attention to something you wished to ignore.
For the first few months you stayed behind the crew, hiding your true potential in battles, afraid to let everything out. It was a constant nag through your life that you were to conceal your true strengths, knowing the damage it would cause. And although you wished to help your friends, the damage outweighed any of the positives, keeping you in a loop of fear and anguish.
Despite this, there wasn't a day that passed that you didn't catch the attention of Zoro. He could tell there was something about you, something utterly mesmerising, finding it hard to keep his eyes from you. It was obvious you stood out from most, standing almost double his own height and a defined body covered in rippling muscles, but your kindness was enduring. It was something unexpected from you, to behave so tender to your friends and even those who you barely knew, keeping him drawn to you like a magnet.
He saw you in ways you never knew could be seen by anyone. He dismissed any negative proposals of yourself, much like many of the crew, however, he did it in such a way that almost made it believable. He was honest, despite peoples feelings, and his truth hindered part of you, pushing you to explore what the brave swordsman saw in you.
After Robin was captured, however, it felt like a personal attack. Robin was kind to you, as she was with everyone, soon becoming a close friend. She had opened up about her past, enlightening you with stories and knowledge, bringing comfort that she would not harm you. It lit a fire under you seeing how broken she had become, risking everything to bring her back to the crew, even if it meant becoming what you feared the most.
Facing off against CP9 lit the fuse that urged your fire to burn. At first it had stopped the crew, watching how brawling you turned, your physique so muscular and obscene, it was if they were looking at a different person. You held no remorse for the government as your ripped through their walls, wielding your hands into unforgiving weapons that tore through whoever came into your path. You voice held a brutal shake, rumbling the ground as you swore to return your friend. Your face holding a twisted growl, covered in a heavy red, eyes large and dark.
Your crew held the same morbid stance, never expecting such dramatically intense rage to surface. You were so timid and frightful to even raise your voice and now, as you terrorised the people in your path, there wasn't a single drop of warmth in your actions. You were cold, blanketed by your own compressed emotions as you finally let them all surface, brewing into a steaming mixture of fury.
Thrown off by your actions, everybody remained frozen in terror; all except for Zoro. He had never seen anybody so alarming, so consumed in a ravenous anger, it almost seemed beautiful.
And that was when Roronoa Zoro knew, this was more than just admiration for you.
The strange fascination with this unusual crew-mate was more than just an awe of your obvious strength.
This is what he saw in you; such raw beauty it paralysed him with devotion.
This was a crush.
------------------------------------------------------------
Zoro sat with his arms crossed behind him, resting against the bottom of a tree, pretending to be asleep. His eyes, half shut, were drawn to where you stood, helping to hold up the side of the ship as Franky patched up the large hole that forced a sudden stop.
His eyes wondered over your arms, taking in how strong you were, the muscles rippling under your skin as you held the large ship; acting as if it was nothing. Smiling to himself he shifted his gaze up, watching the soft and kind features of your face. Your face was twisted in a shy smile, giggling lightly as Franky told you some joke that he ended with his usual 'super'. Zoro couldn't help but feel jealous at how easily you bonded with other members of the crew, especially taller members such as Franky and Brook, making him feel almost outcasted by your kindness, yet so determined to be flooded by it.
"Who you looking at?"
Zoro averted his eyes quickly, staring up as Luffy blocked out the mid-day sun, devouring some kind of meat that he no doubt stole from the refrigerator.
"Nobody"
Luffy ignored his comment, looking over towards the ship.
"It's (Y/n), isn't it?"
"No!" Zoro spat, although the bright blush on his cheeks contradicted his statement.
Luffy chuckled, unaware of the exact reason his friend was so embarrassed. It was normal for Zoro to act like this, keeping a close eye on the crew as if it was his only mission; growing more protective by each island.
"Oi! (Y/n)!"
Zoro froze, watching as the captain flagged you down, wishing he could disappear. Your eyes rose up from Franky, fluttering sweetly over to where Zoro sat, casting the same precious smile. Confused at Luffy's calling, there was a slight tilt in your head, shuffling your gaze between your captain and the swordsman.
Luffy waved for you to come over, making Zoro shuffle in his seat, anxious to try and flee the scene. His heart hammered loud in his chest, fogging over all senses, unaware you had broken away from Franky and was heading towards him. He could faintly make out Luffy's voice, soon followed by the mouse voice of your own, easing him like an anchor as he looked up towards you.
All eyes landed on Zoro, waiting for some kind of response, as if he had toasted to the audience for an emotional speech.
But what exactly could he say?
What would happen if they knew - if you knew - he had feelings?
He couldn't come across as weak.
"What?" Zoro spat out, keeping his voice as level as he could.
"You were looking at me?"
Zoro could see fear wash across your face, doubt creeping into your mind that he was looking at you for all the wrong reasons; the views that you saw of yourself. He knew none of what you saw was true, years of your own trauma battering you into self-doubt that he wished to ease. He wanted nothing more than to comfort you and show you it was okay to be yourself, as brutal and incredibly demanding as you were.
The fear on your face became a look of sadness, creating your own answer from his silence that it was a look of disgust. Embarrassed, you retrieved back over to Franky, flashing Luffy an apologetic smile on the way.
Exhaling deeply, Zoro shut his eyes, hoping Luffy would disregard what had happened to leave him wallowing in his guilt. He felt so tongue-tied around you, never knowing how to say anything supportive without confessing. Since he realised his intentions it was increasingly treacherous whenever he spoke to you, as if he would blurt his love out loud.
Luffy stayed by his right-hand's side, watching as you walked back over to the ship-right. He could sense that there was something amiss between his two friends - even someone as thick as him could work that out - seeing the interaction first hand. You looked so hopeful when he mentioned Zoro was looking at you, your face lighting up with possibilities of kind words. But once you were met with silence there was a deafening sadness he could feel, his protective captain instincts recognising your troubles instantly.
"I think (Y/n) likes you"
Zoro snapped open his eyes, following Luffy's voice as he chucked to himself.
"Huh?"
Swinging his legs, Luffy sat down next to Zoro, crossing them under him. "She really cares about what you think of her, Zoro. And I think that is more than friends"
He was silent for a second, the cogs in his head turning as he processed further. "Do you like her too? Is that why you keep looking at her?"
There was a mix of realisation and confusion in Luffy's voice, not comprehending if his conclusion was the right one. Zoro did care for all the crew equally, protecting them when he could, so his stab at a confession from the bleak swordsman was one he threw blindly.
"I- I don't know" Zoro mumbled, barely audible to the captain.
“I think you do” Luffy beamed, tearing off another enormous chunk of meat, stripping it off the bone. His pause gave Zoro a moment to think, reevaluating his answer, however, not wishing to confess to his loud mouth friend.
News spread like wildfire when Luffy was involved.
Grunting, Zoro rose from his spot, tracking as quickly as he could through the sand, heading back towards the ship. His heartbeat grew thunderous in his ears, shaking his vision of you as he caught your attention, calling out as he got close.
“Oi, can I talk with you?” Zoro strained his voice, letting it carry up to you.
You look puzzled, darting your eyes away from him to look back at Franky. He had stepped away from his work to assess you both, looking back and forth as he waited for someone to speak.
“You’re free to go, (Y/n), I’m just about done with this anyway”
Franky’s words released you from your excuse to hide from Zoro, more afraid from his stern talks than his silence. You had observed the way he pulled fellow crew members aside, only to inflict negative comments or arguments that you chose to avoid.
Cautiously agreeing, you placed the ship down, following Zoro up the side of the beach to give you both a bit more of space. You knew it would be pointless to escape the crew from overhearing your conversation, your voices soaring even as a whisper. But Zoro wanted that space. He wanted to feel like he could have you alone, even for a few minutes, to be vulnerable enough to apologise. He hated the feeling he had hurt you.
You had turned into the trees, cowering through the thick shrubs, hoping to distance yourself from embarrassment. There was a mutual tension that hung over you both, as if you both wished to share how you felt with neither one wishing to be the first to admit it out loud. Between Zoro's stubborn emotions and your shyness, it became a match for the rest of the crew to turn to for entertainment.
"I didn't mean to hurt you" Zoro mumbled, hoping it would reach you. "It caught me off guard when Luffy invited you over and I didn't know what to say. I don't always know how exactly to act around you. I often look at you because I think you are truly something great, something so wonderful, so beautiful, and I can't help feel drawn to you and your strength. The truth is actually..."
Zoro cleared his throat, speaking louder.
“I like you, (Y/n)!”
A silence fell around you both, forcing Zoro to look back over his shoulder; knowing his words had caught the crews attention. His face flushed over in a bright glow, noting that the crew had indeed noted his words, standing around to wait for your response. He wanted to run from this situation, feeling exposed in front of the people he cared about most.
He knew he would be teased for this.
A soft mumble caused Zoro to turn back to you, realising you had said something, a light blush on your face. Moving closer to you, Zoro took small steps, shaking as he did. He had never been so close to you but he wanted to hear your voice again, hear the melody he loved so much, hoping you would repeat yourself.
Your eyes darted down quickly to look at Zoro, locking onto one another, seeing each other perfectly for the first time.
It was surreal observing each other like this, so close, taking in as much of each others features as you could. You noted the soft curves on his cheekbones, framing his structured face with a deliciously sharp frame. His eyes held a cautious but beautiful edge, deep grey eyes pulling you in like a sinking ship to water. He was just as beautiful as you noted from further away, intriguing you just as much as before.
“I like you, too”
Your blush darkened before you looked away, hearing the faint cheers from your friends as they overheard you reciprocate Zoro's feelings. He was quiet for a moment, letting your words sink in, overwhelmed with how those words sounded coming from you. And how they were aimed at him.
A sense of relief drained from Zoro, easing him to speak clearer, almost cockier. Now he knew your intentions were more than just some half-promised words from Luffy he was ready to go further, guiding the first steps to becoming more than what you were already.
"Well, would you like to do something about it?"
A smile washed across your face, reciprocating his light and almost playful speech. It served almost as a hammer to your walls of fear around him, knowing you could be yourself and he would still like you just the way you were; easily crashing through them.
"That's if you're willing to handle me"
Zoro smirked, amused by your quick wit, seeing a new side to you intrigued to find out how many other layers you were hiding from him. He was elated to see what could come from your growing feelings for each other, tackling these new emotions as you sailed with your friends to accomplish your dreams. And Zoro couldn't think of anyone better to be by his side when he did.
"Oh, trust me, (Y/n). I can handle a lot more than you know"

Romina was half asleep when she pulled herself together enough to head out for breakfast. She was not expecting Angel to be so chippy and loud greeting her in the morning.
"Ready for breakfast?"
"Mhm," Romina nodded. "You want to take me there? I might fall asleep on the way."
Angel chuckled. "It would be my pleasure." He interlocked arms with her and headed out of the common room with her.
"Something like that," Romina mumbled. "I had these weird dreams...just so bombarding. I kept waking up like every hour."
"That sucks," Angel said, leading her up the stairs. "You're not the kind to have bad dreams."
"No, I left all the stuff from last year behind me," Romina said with a sour smile. "Because trust me, I have plenty of material to dream about that could re-traumatize me all over again."
"Maybe it's just the stress getting to you."
"The school year just started, Angel. I'm not that behind on work yet."
"I wasn't talking about academic stress, Romina," Angel said and gave her a sharp side-eye. She knew what he meant and sighed. He had been present last night when she and Pansy had a row about the dumbest thing. "You really should try to just, I don't know, ignore her or something," Angel said.
"It's not as easy as you think. She's everywhere. I literally changed dorms to get away from her!"
"Yeah, Carol was really happy about the switch too. She'd never say it but she's kind of scared of Pansy, always has been growing up."
Romina snorted. "Nobody should ever be afraid of Pansy. I'm not scared of her, she just aggravates me."
They entered the Great Hall and went straight to the Slytherin table where their friends were sitting.
"I need some dark roast coffee stat," Romina said as they sat down together.
"You drink dark roast coffee for breakfast?" Angel chuckled.
"Sometimes," Romina shrugged. She had to pause to cover her yawn.
"Oooh, did somebody not get enough sleep last night?" Pansy's voice stopped the pair. She had come along with Millicent, the two going straight for the open seats near Draco, Crabb and Goyle.
Romina lamented that her bad morning was even worse now. "I'm not—Parkinson, keep it to yourself. I'm too tired to deal with you today." She should have at least a few hours to really wake up before she had to insult someone.
"I know," Pansy said, far too sure of what she was saying. "You know, I figured that since you keep ruining Draco's day, somebody should ruin your nights."
"What…? What did you do to me?" Romina left her breakfast as it was. Her eyes flickered between Pansy and Draco, expecting one of them to give her an explanation. Had she been less focused on the shock, she would've realized the flash of confusion on Draco's face.
"Simple nightmare potion," Pansy explained. The malicious glint in her eyes was strong and proud. "Even an idiot could make it."
"And an idiot did," Angel said, earning a brief glare from Pansy in return. "That is very low of you, Pansy. What were you thinking?"
Romina was flabbergasted. Her mind spun to think of when Pansy had slipped that potion to her. It was infuriating not knowing. "So this was some revenge ploy? A sleepless night?" She scoffed. "And really, Draco? Getting Parkinson to do it on your behalf? Beyond lazy!"
Draco glared and pointed his fork at her. "Would you stop calling me 'lazy'? I didn't ask anybody to—"
Romina rolled her eyes, not wanting to hear a word from him. "You're just pathetic. Instead of just apologizing for such a horrendous act, you make it even bigger!" She glared over at Pansy; the latter couldn't be any happier with the results.
"Better luck next time, I suppose," Pansy shrugged, her tone ever so calm.
Romina barely resisted the urge to throw her goblet upside Pansy's head. She pushed herself up from her seat and stormed away. It's too early, it's too early...
"Oswell!" She heard Draco's call not too far behind her.
Oh, God no. She picked up her pace in the hallway, deciding to head back to the common room instead. "Leave me alone!" She yelled back. "Go back and sit with your dear partner in crime!"
"I didn't ask Parkinson to do anything for me!" Draco expected the hard scoff Romina sent his way. It was the only place he could start. "It wasn't my idea!"
"Oh please!" Romina whirled around, finding he was closer to her than she thought. "You expect me to believe that?"
"Yes!"
"Why?"
Draco's face expression was nothing if not incredulous. "Because I didn't do anything?" He was sure that was the best reason he could offer. "I'm guilty of many things, Oswell, but of this? No."
Romina still seemed mighty unconvinced. She folded her arms. "Yeah right! I just want to know when Pansy slipped it in. Was it while we were arguing last night?"
"Ask her! I didn't do it!"
Romina started backtracking from him. "Forget it, I don't believe you! Just know that I will get you back for this."
"Oswell, if you would just—"
"No! Don't say another word to me!"
Draco rolled his eyes at her. She had no idea. "But listen—"
"Not another word!"
"You don't want me to say anything else?"
"Exactly!"
"Even if it's actually important?"
"Yes!"
"Okay. I won't say anything else then," Draco promptly said. His small smile was confusing but Romina didn't want to give him any more of her time.
She turned around to continue on her way but the moment her foot stepped forwards, she found the ground wasn't there. She was at the staircase. She flailed and fell forwards—she never made it down. A strong tug on her arm yanked her back before she slid off.
Next thing Romina knew, she was looking at a smug-faced Draco right in front of her. "Didn't know you'd be falling for me, Oswell," he said. He really couldn't help it. It was too big of an opportunity to let pass.
Romina's scowl was imminent. "I...hate you! You saw me about to fall!"
"You told me not to say another word," Draco reminded her. He laughed when Romina tried to smack him, or at the very least "tap him" as she'd claimed she'd done the last time. She was locked between his arms no matter how much she attempted to free herself.
"You're an absolute jerk!" And perhaps a strong one at that. Romina groaned at her failed attempts. "Let me go before I punch you!"
"What? Not comfy?" Draco was clearly enjoying the moment. He could smell her rosy scent perfectly. Now he wondered if it was her hair or her perfume. Did she wear perfume?
"I am very prepared to throw both of us down these stairs," Romina declared.
Draco laughed earnestly for the first time in a long time. "You are very competitive, Oswell. Gotta say, I like it. You're making my days fun."
Romina scoffed, head turning away. "Please. Couple days ago you said I was being ridiculous."
"And I stand by it but you're funny when you're plotting. And kinda cute."
Romina's head snapped back in his direction, tilting up to meet his gaze. His silver-blue eyes were already on her, filled with nothing but confidence.
"That a bother?" he asked her.
Before Romina knew it, she was shaking her head slowly. Speak! She blinked at her own stupidity. Warmth flourished up her neck and face within seconds. SPEAK! "You…" This wasn't working—holy shit this wasn't working! She shoved Draco far away from her. "Stay away from me!"
Draco laughed and by God it was a graceful laugh too. Romina wanted to shove him down the stairs.
"C'mon Oswell, can't we call it a truce?" He asked, sending her a smug smile. "I think it would be better if we plotted together."
"In your dreams," Romina spat and went down the steps.
Draco would take it as a win that she hadn't yelled this time. Piece by piece. He just had to put those pieces together. He turned to head back for the Great Hall.
"Where'd Romina go?" Angel bumped into him under the threshold. "Did you say something to her?"
"Sod off, Angel," Draco snapped. "This is none of your business."
"It is when you're continuously messing with Romina. I just went over this with Pansy back there and I'll tell you the same thing: back off."
"Yeah, you're not as threatening as you think you are," Draco said. "But I suppose I can give you points for effort."
Angel glared at him. "I mean it. Romina's taken enough crap these past years. You're supposed to be her friend—Pansy was supposed to be her friend — but you keep trying to make her life miserable."
"I am, but she's being a little difficult right now. Just a bump in the road, certainly nothing you need to stick your nose into. I mean seriously, are you trying to be overly blatant with that crush? It's been almost four years, Angel. Remember what I told you during our second year?"
Angel rolled his eyes. "No."
When Draco smirked, Angel knew that whatever was about to come out of his mouth was going to be infuriating.
Draco was happy to repeat himself. "The sad part is, she's never going to notice you." He clapped Angel on the shoulder. "And I was right. Four years." He wiggled four of his fingers and laughed on his way into the Great Hall.
Angel drew in a deep breath, a very deep breath, and balled his hands into tight fists. He had to calm himself before he did something he would regret, and worst of all do something that could hurt Romina along the way.

Romina had found small ways to appease her desire for revenge. Pansy Parkinson would not be making a move against her for a good while, not when she had undiluted bubotousse pus to deal with. Romina thanked Madame Pomfrey for the second lesson and the glorious opportunity she unknowingly provided. Pansy couldn't prove that the accidental squirt of pus wasn't accidental at all. She could complain all she wanted up in the hospital wing. That Thursday, Romina would focus solely on the double session of DADA, their first session of the term. It had been pushed back for some reason, though allowing for the extra Herbology lesson.
Romina sat down beside Hermione and was surprised to see that the girl wasn't there yet. She looked back at Harry and Ron who sat in the desk behind them. "I'll bite, where's Granger? She's never late and much less for the first class of the year."
Both Harry and Ron shrugged their shoulders, equally confused.
"She's been zooming through meals," Ron said. "Dunno where she gets into lately."
"Yeah, I've noticed," Romina remarked. "She seems kinda upset, though. Did you two do something?"
"That's offensive," Ron said sourly, glancing at Harry for some help.
Harry was frowning. "Of course not, Rom. Whatever Hermione's up to, we'll end up learning about it soon enough. Like the Time Turner."
Romina had to give him the point. Just as she was turning to face forwards again, she caught sight of the bushy haired Hermione zipping into the classroom.
"Made it!" Hermione said in utter relief when she plonked down beside Romina.
Romina eyed her friend curiously and slightly concerned. "Are you okay?"
"Course! Yeah! Why do you ask?" Hermione eagerly started pulling out her book and quill and parchment and everything else they would probably need for the class.
Romina still watched her strangely. "Just...curious…"
Shortly afterwards, Moody finally entered the classroom. He made his way up to the front, commanding silence with his bare walk. "You can put those away—those books," he started, his gruff tone startling the class, "You won't need them."
Hermione was deeply disappointed unlike Ron who couldn't put his book away quick enough.
"I'm here because Dumbledore asked me, end of story, goodbye, the end. Any questions?" Moody didn't exactly wait for any hands to raise. "When it comes to the dark arts, I believe in a practical approach. But first, which of you can tell me how many unforgivable curses there are?"
Unsurprisingly, Hermione's hand was the first one in the air. Moody gave her the nod to answer. "Three sir."
"And they are so named?"
"Because they are unforgivable. Use of any one of them will…"
"Will earn you a one way ticket to Azkaban. Correct. Now the ministry says you're too young to see what these curses do. I say different!" Moody said with a particular snap in his tone. "You need to know what you're up against, you need to be prepared, you need to find somewhere else to put your chewing gum other than the underside of your desk Mr Finnigan!"
Finnigan jumped at the sudden call of his name, all heads turning his way while Moody went up to the chalkboard.
"Aw no way, the old codger can see out the back of his head," Finnigan murmured to his partner.
Moody threw a piece of chalk in his direction but went on with the class as if nothing happened. "So, which curse shall we see first? WEASLEY!"
Ron jumped. "Y-yes?"
"Give us a curse!"
"Well, my dad did tell me about one...the imperious curse."
"Ahhh yes, your father would know all about that. Gave the ministry quite a bit of grief a few years ago. Perhaps this will show you why." Moody opened a drawer of his desk and pulled out a jar with a spider inside it. As soon as Ron saw it, he leaned away as if the spider was about to come his way. "Hello. What a little beauty. Imperio!" Moody raised the spider into the air with his wand. "Don't worry. Completely harmless."
The class watched as the spider went side to side, up and down, in circles. Snickers started erupting when the spider was sent over the tops of several students and soon enough most of them were laughing. Ron certainly didn't laugh when the spider danced over his head.
"Get it off! Get it off!" He slapped his own head in an attempt to rid himself of the spider. The class roared with laughter.
"What are you laughing at?" Moody chose Draco to silence amongst the class by sending the spider to his nose.
Much like Ron, Draco swatted his hands over his face to throw the spider off. There may have been some extra laughing with the sight.
Mad-Eye sends the spider onto Draco's face.
"Scores of witches and wizards have claimed that they only do did you-know-whose bidding under the influence of the imperious curse," Moody explained, "But here's the rub, how do we sort out the liars? Another.. Another…" His gaze swept over the class for another volunteering hand and to everyone's surprise, Neville did it. "Longbottom is it?" Neville nodded silently. "What is it?"
"There's the um...the Cruciatus Curse," Neville responded, gaze slightly downfallen.
"Correct! Correct! Particularly nasty. The torture curse. Crucio!" Moody said, and suddenly the spider was writhing. Its legs were twisting and turning in angles that it shouldn't be.
Romina's face twisted with fright. She really wished she wasn't sitting upfront. What was more odd, at least to her, was that it seemed Moody was lost in the spell, focused solely on the pained spider. "Professor?" she decided to call, though not sufficiently loud enough.
"STOP IT! Can't you see it's bothering him, stop it!" Hermione yelled suddenly, Everyone near her looked at her but realized she was looking not at Moody but at Neville who couldn't be more positively disturbed.
Moody gave the spider a break and looked at Hermione. "Perhaps you could give us the last unforgivable curse Miss Granger."
Hermione shook her head defiantly, a very surprising move for the other students.
Romina then raised her hand, expression emotionless. For a fourteen year old girl, it should be rare to know it but she wasn't exactly raised like the rest of her companions.
"Oswell," Moody gave her the nod. Romina swore that he knew, and why wouldn't he?
"The murder curse," Romina said, hands balling into fists over the desk.
"The killing curse," Moody corrected for technicalities.
"Is it not the same thing?" Romina challenged and earned a small smirk from the man. "Avada Kedavra," she said slowly and clearly.
"Avada Kedavra!" Moody's wand emanated a green flash of light that instantly stilled the spider in the air, Romina and Hermione flinching when it landed on their desk. "There is no countercourse for this, no blocking either. Only one known person has ever survived it and he's sitting in this room."
It was fairly quick how Harry's excitement for the class vanished in a matter of seconds. He couldn't wait to see the end of the session so he could hide under a rock from all the looks.
"I can't believe he actually used those curses," Hermioe muttered when they were finally free. Moody took a head start out of the class, ironically, as if he had somewhere else to be.
Romina slid out of her seat and cast a wary look at the chalkboard that was full of notes on said curses. She had to admit that Moody's teachings were very different from their previous professors' styles. "We can only hope this was the worst lesson to learn."
"Fat chance," Ron said, nearly exclaiming. He was the only student who remained excited about the lessons.
"Harry, you alright?" Romina asked, noticing how quiet their friend was as he put away his roll of parchment. She had a pretty good idea what he was thinking about. The last unforgivable curse was the reason he was an orphan.
"Yeah, course," Harry said quickly, even throwing on a fake smile for show.
"Neville's not," Hermione said, watching as Neville walked out of the classroom in a sort of haze. Hermione was quick to follow, prompting the others to then follow her.
"Oswell," Draco called, standing up from his seat when Romina was to walk by. "I heard what you did to Parkinson…"
Romina had long ago mastered her innocent expressions, even in the face of accusers (Draco) and the suspicious (Hermione). The latter had figured it out a while ago and wasn't backing down despite Romina's assurances that she didn't do anything.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Romina said, shrugging her shoulders.
Draco tilted his head at her, eyes narrowing on her with a small smile. "Yeah, sure." Romina shrugged, truly committed to her role of innocence.
"Rom!" Harry called by the doorway. Thinking it wasn't enough, he marched over to grab Romina's arm. "Whatever he's saying, don't even bother responding!"
"Even if she did, she knows she's lying," Draco said, eyes still glued on Romina. "Isn't that right?"
Romina opened her mouth to shoot down such accusations but Harry never gave her the chance. He yanked her away.
"Rom, I've told you not to provoke him!" He began to say once they were out in the hallways.
"I didn't!" Romina exclaimed in a mix of laughter and incredulity. "Why does everyone think I'm doing it?
Hermione heard the last question and had the answer up and ready. "Because you are doing things. Did he accuse you of hurting Parkinson? Because if he did, I hate that I agree with him."
"Hermione!" Ron was horrified. "How could you ever agree with Malfoy of all people?"
Hermione gestured towards Romina. "Because she is doing that stuff and one of these days, you're going to push too hard, Romina, and you'll get really hurt."
Romina scoffed, entirely unconvinced. "C'mon, Neville looks terrible right now." She walked towards the boy who had become like a statue in the hallway, staring endlessly out the window. "Neville?" Romina approached him slowly and cautiously.
"Oh, hello," he cleared his throat to say. He turned away from the window, looking as if he was trying to wake up from a dream, probably a bad dream. " interesting lesson, wasn't it? I wonder what's for dinner, I'm-I'm starving, aren't you?"
"Neville, are you alright?" Hermione asked him despite the answer being clear as day.
"Oh yes, I'm fine," Neville said, his tone just a pitch too high, "Very interesting dinner—I mean lesson. What's for eating?"
Neville didn't always make sense but this was too strange even for him. Concern filled each of the other students as Neville continued his efforts to make a coherent conversation.
"Um, Neville…" Harry had started when Moody of all people was returning.
"It's alright, sonny," the professor put a hand over Neville's shoulder, "Why don't you come up to my office? I have some books that might interest you." Neville didn't exactly look eager to go with Moody but since no one said anything, he had no choice but to walk.
"What was that about?" Ron asked as soon as they were alone.
"Something we don't know, clearly," Romina said, watching after Neville and Moody. "The way Neville acted...there's something on his mind."
"Some lesson, though, eh?" Ron cracked a smile. "Fred and George were right! Moody really knows his stuff, huh?"
"I'm pretty sure what he taught us wasn't supposed to be on the syllabus," Romina shook her head. Hermione agreed.

Romina was acutely aware of Pansy's dirty looks in the days after her unfortunate puss mess had been cleared. There was nothing Pansy could do to prove that anything malicious had been done to her and it was just infuriating, Romina knew it and she was proud of herself.
Now as the drawing of the Goblet of Fire was nearing, many students of all ages had taken a liking to hanging in the very room where it was being kept to watch those potential candidates drop their names inside the goblet. Romina came in that afternoon and immediately spotted Hermione sitting at the bleachers with a book in her hands. She was a little wary to greet Hermione due to the matter with the SPEW stuff.
Romina, much like everyone else that she knew of in Gryffindor, were all a little tired of hearing Hermione's badgering to join her elf welfare club. Romina admired Hermione for taking such an initiative but she really doubted that it would go anywhere. She saw Harry and Ron milling around the Goblet, as much as they could anyways. There was a circle barring anybody from getting too close to it.
"Whatcha doing?" Romina startled the pair of boys behind them. She smirked when they jumped and turned her way.
"You know, just looking," Ron said, shrugging casually even though his eyes were sparkling with yearning for the Goblet.
"Mhm," Romina nodded sarcastically, "And I suppose neither of you have attempted to put your name in there?"
"We can't, Rom," Harry said, "Not of age."
"Has anybody come to put their name in?" Romina curiously asked. She gave the room another look and saw that Carolinha had come in and had made the mistake of starting up a conversation with Hermione. No doubt the Gryffindor would be pulling out one of her SPEW badges.
"Angelina from our Quidditch team did half an hour ago," Ron said, giving a big thumbs up. "Oh, and I heard Cedric Diggory did too."
"Really?" Romina raised an eyebrow, absolutely dazzled with the idea.
"Not you too, Rom," Harry rolled his eyes.
Romina giggled. "He's just cute. And mysterious. And polite." Ron made a yapping motion with his hand, making Harry snicker and Romina frown. She smacked Ron's hand down. She was about to scold him for that bit when she heard familiar voices entering the room. Looking back, she saw Draco, Crabb and Goyle laughing about something.
"Oh great," Harry muttered and soon Ron was donning the same face.
"You know I heard that Warrington from the Slytherin's Quidditch team put his name in," Ron remarked, shaking his head. "Can you imagine if we had a Slytherin champion?"
"Well," Romina's tone was sharp enough to have both him and Harry wincing. She folded her arms over her chest. "You guys are sure making me feel welcomed."
"You know we don't mean that about you, Rom," Harry was cautious when he patted her arm.
"So, everyone else, then?" Romina tilted her head. "My friend over there, Carolinha," she pointed over to the brunette speaking with Hermione, "She's pretty great. I'm sure Hermione is talking her ears off right now but my girl Carol is too sweet to cut anybody off. And her brother? He's the same. Harry, you know Arden since we were dumb kids. Are we calling her bad too?"
"No, of course not," Harry shook his head. "Sorry." He did have the decency to look a little sorry which was why Romina elected to move on from there.
"Were there any Ravenclaws who put their names in?"
"We're not—"
"We've done it!" They heard the voices of Fred and George announcing. They hopped up to the first bleacher, looking mighty happy about something. They commanded the attention of the whole room with it.
"Thank you, thank you, well lads we've done it!" George exclaimed.
"Done what?" called Romina, fairly curious of what they were cooking up now.
"The Aging Potion my dear Ali—"
Romina caught the first part of her nickname and immediately glowered until they fixed it.
"My dear Romina," Fred began anew, "It is the Aging Potion! One drop each. We only need to be a few months older."
"You can't possibly think that'll work," Hermione said, shaking her head. The twins rapidly came up to her seat, forcing Carolinha to scoot away a bit so they could lean on both Hermione's sides. "Dumbledore drew the age line himself." She made a nod towards the circle around the flaming Goblet.
"So?" challenged George.
Hermione rolled her eyes. "So, a genius like Dumbledore couldn't possibly be fooled by something pathetically dimwitted such as an age potion."
"That's why it's so brilliant!" Fred exclaimed, straightening up along with George.
"I mean...they could be onto something," Romina whispered to Harry and Ron who both chuckled with her. Sometimes, you don't need to think so much. The solution was simple and straightforward.
"Ready George?"
"Ready, Fred!"
Both twins interlocked their arms with each other and drank their potions. They then hopped off the last bleacher and walked up to the Age Line. They paused for a moment before taking synced steps forwards. And they made it through.
Everybody cheered for them—mostly everybody—as they walked confidently up to the Goblet of Fire and dumped their names inside. They high-fived each other as the flames ignited behind them. But, just like that, the flames exploded and threw the pair out. Smoke covered them and most of the room for a few seconds.
When it cleared up and the twins sat upright, they were sporting heavily long beards that matched their new set of grey hair.
"You said.." George pointed at his brother.
"You said," accused Fred.
They lunged at each other. Most of the room cheered as they rolled and fought each other, including Ron himself.
"I stand corrected," Romina shrugged to Harry. "Point to Hermione."
"Yeah," Harry said, unable to hold his laughter in.
Romina had to move carefully around the groups of students lest she wanted to be caught up. Some people were really into the growing fight. Among those were even Crabb and Goyle, something Draco wasn't too pleased with.
"That's what you get for hanging out with idiots," she told him. "Blaise, Theodore, and Angel busy or something?"
"Zabini and Nott have zero interest in this until names are actually drawn," he retorted. "And as if you don't know that Angel has newfound animosity towards me."
Romina paused and looked at him. "What? What did you do?"
Draco rolled his eyes. "Like you don't know."
"I don't. Usually, you do something."
A loud bang startled the pair. Karkaraoff was leading the Durmstrang boys into the room, forcing the crowd to separate. Even the twins had finally given up trying to kill each other. Romina was sure that most of the attention was going towards Victor Krum, the star of that school. She was absolutely dumbfounded when he and Draco exchanged nods.
"Since when do you know Krum?" she had to ask. It was a force beyond her, honestly.
Draco smiled smugly. "I do know how to expand my networks, Oswell. One of the many talents instilled in me."
"The others being…?" Romina made a gesture for him to list them specifically. She doubted the list would be long.
The Durmstrang boys were on their way out of the room, each of them having slipped their names inside the Goblet.
"Show off," Romina huffed at Draco after he'd waved at Krum.
"Me? Never," he smirked.
Romina shook her head at him. "I'm surprised you haven't bragged about this. I would've expected the whole school to know about it, actually."
"Stories about me get told anyways, Oswell. You wouldn't believe the ones I've heard." The way he smiled ever-so-widely warned Romina those stories had to be ego-inflating.
"Yeah, not interested."
"Oh, c'mon, you'd…" Draco trailed off when Madame Maxime led her Beauxbaton students in.
Romina rolled her eyes heavily enough to make her feel twinges of pain. "Are you going to finish that sentence?"
"Mhm," Draco nodded, but no actual words came out afterwards.
"Seriously!?" Romina huffed and looked away, soon noticing that the same thing was happening to every other male student in the room. "For the love of God!"
The Beauxbatons each dropped their names inside the Goblet and turned, in a neat line, after Madame Maxime who promptly led them back out. By the time Draco came to, Romina was long gone.

Arden was nose deep into her Unfogging the Future book before class when she heard the noise of someone dropping into the seat beside her. She looked up and frowned. "You're not Parkinson. I can't decide if that's better or worse."
"I've got a problem, King," Draco said, frowning when she snorted in return.
"No, you've got many problems but there's not enough time in the world for me to list them."
He decided to ignore Arden's little jab. "It's Oswell."
"Shocker."
"She's continuously pissing me off and I would rather fix it before this becomes permanent."
Arden put her book down on the table, now deeply interested in where the conversation was going. "You actually want to fix things?"
Draco nodded. "It's got to be better than having to look twice when she's around. Her apt for retaliation is commendable but also a growing pain in the ass."
"Fair," Arden agreed. "But you do know what you have to do, right?"
"If I knew that, I would not be here, would I?" Draco gestured to his current seat. He had managed to shake off being Arden's partner this year and he would like to keep it that way. She got stuck with Pansy which was a win for him. The never ending jabs at each other were hilarious to watch and hear.
"I know what happened in the forest," Arden said, keeping her voice low, "And you were out of line. That's what Romina's upset about. And instead of apologizing, you made it worse by turning it into a game of tricks."
"She started it," Draco drowned. "Have you met her?"
"Yes," Arden said slowly, "Since I was seven. And you're right to be wary of her when she's in this mood. Back in our muggle school, this girl basically did the same thing to Romina and it did not end until Romina was suspended from school for a whole week."
"What she do?" Draco curiously asked. Being a troublemaker wasn't really part of Romina's personality. Mischievous was, but a full on troublemaker wasn't.
"She grabbed a pair of scissors and cut the girl's hair in one snip." Arden could still vividly remember the screaming she and the rest of her family had heard coming from the Oswell residence next door that same night. She didn't see Romina for a full month after that.
Draco was frankly bemused and stunned with what he heard. "She did not," he said, barely holding his laugh in.
Arden nodded earnestly. "She did. I love my best friend but she has a nasty temper when things get too much. If you don't want to end up like Gale Perry, apologize now."
"I will do no such thing," Draco said, shaking his head. "I want to see how far Oswell will go with this."
"That wasn't the point of my story!"
"Yeah, and it was better. Thanks King, you actually can help sometimes." Draco promptly got up from his seat and moved on up the steps towards his actual spot.
Arden made a face, her teeth gritting together as she realized the conversation did not go the way it probably should have. She had the feeling Romina would kill her if she found out that she'd basically spurred the games on.

A few days later would have Angel finding an empty spot with Draco, Theodore and Blaise at their table in the Great Hall. It was a study session, the first one of the year.
"Didn't expect you to sit anywhere near here," Draco spoked quietly as Snape was making his rounds.
Angel shook his head. "I've been thinking. What you said a couple days back?"
"I say a lot of things, you'll have to be more specific."
"Stop acting dumb!"
"It's not an act, mate," Blaise remarked, snickering with Theodore when both Draco and Angel sent them the same glares.
"I'm being serious," Angel said.
"So was I," Blaise said.
"Eyes on the essay, Zabini," warned Draco. Blaise shrugged and continued to scribble over his parchment. "And as for you—" Draco glanced at Angel beside him, "—what the hell are you talking about?"
"In your own fantastically mean way, you've pushed me to act with Romina," Angel said, shrugging her shoulders. "I guess tough love really does work."
"No," Draco said sharply, "I did not do 'tough love'. I don't do 'tough love'. I didn't do anything."
"More like he never does anything anyways," mumbled Theodore which, once again, sent him and Blaise into another fit of snickers.
"This time you did," Angel insisted. "I mean, it's been almost 4 years and I should, logically, be able to do something. So, I thought I'd maybe ask Romina if she wanted to go together on the first Hogsmeade trip that's scheduled."
"It's funny…" Draco said slowly, eyes flickering to the side, "I don't remember…"
Angel made a face at him. "What?"
"I don't remember...asking to hear this conversation."
Blaise and Theodore laughed and eventually had to duck their heads to keep it covered before Snape heard. Angel deadpanned the two; they could never take anything serious.
"You can't stop being sarcastic for a minute, can you?"
"Oh, I wasn't being sarcastic. I was being honest," Draco clarified, "Because I'm pretty sure nowhere in my previous conversation with you did I give you the idea that I would want to talk about this."
"I was just letting you know—"
"Why?"
"Because you and Romina have entered this little war with each other and since you're both my friends I would rather you put an end to it already."
"Yeah, I spoke to King about that and it's not happening. Did you know that Oswell had a record? I'm talking about a serious record." Days after talking with Arden, Draco was still impressed with the story. He would've given anything to see Romina cut that muggle girl's hair.
"Draco, c'mon," Angel said, "It's been—what?—two weeks since this started? It's getting tiring. She did not appreciate the exploding ink bottle you left for her, by the way."
Draco's smirk didn't express disappointment. "I sure enjoyed it."
"I'm just telling you to back off already. It's not funny anymore."
"On the contrary, I think it's quite fun," Draco shrugged. "You're just boring, Angel. That's going to have to change if you're actually going to do something for the future."
Angel would've liked to strangle him at that point. "You just can't take things seriously!"
They heard the heavy footsteps of Snape nearing them, cutting the conversation short.

Romina had just finished dotting her last 'i' on her letter she was sending to her grandmother when she heard somebody coming into the common room. She looked up briefly to catch sight of Blaise walking in, shaking his head about something that seemed funny.
"Never thought I'd see the day when Blaise Zabini laughed," she called from her spot. She'd recused herself to one of the individual tables by the wall to complete her homework.
Blaise stopped in the middle of the room to scoff. "You're not funny, but I will admit that what you're doing is rather amusing."
Romina made a face as her eyes landed on her letter still in her hands. "Writing a letter to my grandmother is funny to you? That's a sad sense of humor you got there, Blaise…"
"I meant with Malfoy and Paes! You know they're arguing over you, right?"
Now Romina was the one laughing. "What? Last time I heard, they weren't exactly on speaking terms."
"Yeah, because of you," Blaise pointed. "It's funny as hell but I'm also a little concerned they're going to end up hurting each other."
Romina stopped to seemingly ponder. "Well...are they still arguing right now? Think I can catch them?"
Blaise shook his head at her. "Great, you can't take things seriously either!"
"I can too!" Romina said, but her lips were already curving into a smile that would no doubt turn into a laugh if she pushed it. "I just...like fun stuff. What exactly are they arguing about anyways?"
"Well…" Blaise swayed his head, "Angel is demanding that Draco apologize to you for whatever he did to piss you off."
"I like Angel," Romina nodded, "Everybody should listen to Angel when he says that I'm right."
"He didn't say that—"
"That's what I heard, Blaise."
Blaise rolled his eyes. "Can you just fix it, please? It's bad enough that I have to hear Draco complain about your incessant retaliations. I don't want to hear him bickering with Angel too over you. You are not that special."
Romina raised a hand to her chest, feigning offence. "How rude. But I commend your bluntness. I'll talk to Angel."
"Wouldn't it just be easier to fix things with Draco already?"
"Yeah, if you want me to take the loser's path." Romina snorted and went back to folding her letter nice and perfectly. "Losing's not my style, Blaise. I'm talking to Angel. She smiled to herself when Blaise groaned and headed for the hallway.
Later on, Romina gathered her things to bring them into her dorm. There was still enough time to get her letter to the owlery before dinner. She was coming out of the common room altogether when she saw Angel coming down the stairs.
"Hey!" He greeted her with his typical cheery smile. "Not getting dinner already, are you?"
"No, I've got a letter to send to my grandma," Romina waved her envelope in front of her. "Wanna come with me?"
"Yeah!" Angel nodded, turning on his heels to walk with her. "Everything good in that letter? I mean—your grandmother's okay?"
Romina chuckled. "Yeah, I'm just letting her know that I haven't really gotten a chance to talk with Madam Maxime yet."
Angel snorted into a laugh. "Why would you want to talk to her?"
"Apparently, she was the headmistress of Beauxbatons Academy when my grandmother went there. They're close, I guess."
"Oh boy. What would you even talk about?"
Romina laughed and shook her head. "I have no bloody idea! As far as I can tell, my grandmother was this pristine young woman back in her day and I—" she put a hand on her chest, "—don't have a lick of pristineness in me. I've heard rumors that I have a big mouth, actually. And by 'rumors', I mean Arden."
"You're just fine," Angel patted her arm. "Perfect, actually."
Romina smiled shyly. "You're too sweet." She led the way up the stairs in silence until they reached the last one. "So, Blaise and I were talking earlier…"
"Really?" Angel's heavy disbelief was simply too amusing not to laugh at.
"We can talk civilly sometimes," Romina said, sobering from her laugh. "And he was saying that you and Draco have been arguing. Angel, you don't have to fight anyone on my behalf. I think I can handle it on my own."
"I can't help it, Romina," Angel shrugged. "I don't like seeing you get hurt and I definitely don't like it if someone's doing it for fun."
"Draco's not hurting me, first of all," Romina said, shaking her head. "It's harmless jokes that I willingly participate in. In fact, I'm pretty sure I started it."
"Yeah, but only because you're upset. I know it, I see it." Angel stopped walking in the middle of the hallway, forcing Romina to do the same. He turned to face her and looked directly into her dark eyes. "You're laughing and smirking but I know that Draco did something really bad to hurt you."
Romina absolutely didn't like the way he read her with ease. She wanted to avoid Angel's gaze. "He didn't hurt me."
"Not physically, that much I know for sure," Angel said. "But he did something to...to deeply upset you."
"He disappointed me and when he didn't apologize, he pissed me off." Romina shook her head. She started walking quicker than before. She was not going to show any tears, no sir.
"And that's why I'm demanding that he apologizes," Angel was quick to follow after her.
"You're wasting your time, Angel, he's not going to do it anytime soon!" Perhaps that was what hurt Romina the most. "And I don't want him to do it because somebody demands him to. It wouldn't change anything."
"Hey," Angel grabbed Romina's arm to stop her altogether, "See this is what I mean."
"It's not your fault," Romina said, gently taking his hand off her. "Ironically, I suppose it's not completely Draco's fault either."
"What? You just said—"
"Sometimes I can't help wondering who I would have turned out to be if my parents had raised me," Romina said quietly. "If I had lived with everybody who thought as twisted as they did." She genuinely shuddered at the idea each time she thought of it. "I got lucky. My parents are murderers. Under their influence...I don't know who I would've become."
"Your situation is not the same though," Angel gently pointed out.
"I know, but our parents...Angel, they ingrain stuff. Their past can very well be our future."
"Romina…"
"I understand myself, Angel," Romina cut him off before he said anything else, "And I may be daft but last year was terrible for me and, as surprising as it may sound, Draco actually helped me. People thought the worst of me but he didn't. He never did. Somewhere inside him there has to be a shred of genuine guilt and if I have to annoy him until we graduate for him to finally own up to it, I will."
Angel couldn't take the fact Romina was both smirking and overly determined. It was kind of scary how determined she was. There was no way in hell anybody would be talking her down.

Fic Prompts: Free Day Thursday
As determined by the randomizer, the two prompts I was working with were "Final Fantasy 7" and "Sick Day". Been a while since I played with FF7 characters, so I'm a little out of practice, but here we go!
The grashshrikes shouldn't have been a problem for a mercenary like Cloud. He'd fought worse -- these things weren't even sentient! It was way more of a pain to deal with Shinra gunners! But just a split second of distraction was enough to slip up where grashshrikes were involved.
Cloud fumbled for a Cure and shot a dirty look at Barrett as Jessie put down the last monster. Was it really worth it, working for this guy? Sure, it kept a roof over his head, but Cloud was pretty sick of being the target for the guy's hatred of Shinra.
Well. Currently he was pretty sick period.
"Ugh."
Cloud tipped his head back and let it smack against a wall of sheet metal.
Out of Cure materia, and all he'd done was lower the poison from "debilitating" to "knocked out for the next 24 hours". He really needed to get his hands on a Cura. Or a Curaga, but that sounded too optimistic for the way his luck tended to run.
(Had his luck always been this bad? Sure, he had some misfortune as a kid, but what about during his time as a SOLDIER? Barrett had a point: shouldn't he be able to remember?)
"Hey, you okay, bro?" Wedge crouched next to him with a worried frown. "You don't look so good."
"'M fine," Cloud growled.
The second he let on that he was still poisoned, they'd probably drop him. And then he could say goodbye to any chance of getting paid.
"Barrett, something's wrong with Cloud!" Wedge called over his shoulder, "He didn't even tell me to stop calling him bro!"
Barrett looked equal parts irate and sheepish -- decidedly unsettling in combination on his face.
He stomped over and squatted in front of Cloud to glare at him.
"What's wrong with you, merc?" he demanded.
"Nothing." Cloud rolled his eyes and shoved down the wave of nausea that produced with gritted teeth. "You've never seen someone sit down before?"
"You let that thing sting you, didn't you?"
With a jerk, Cloud stood upright. For a moment, the world tipped on its side.
He was grateful that he hadn't eaten breakfast that morning. If he'd had anything in his apartment worth eating, it all would've made an encore appearance as he tried to keep his footing.
The humiliating levels of concern on the AVALANCHE members' faces -- even Barrett -- made it clear that he wasn't going to be able to fool them.
"So do you normally try to distract people during monster fights?" he asked Barrett pointedly, "or am I just special?"
Jessie snickered. "Oooooo," she sang, "Tifa's gonna kick your butt, Barrett!"
"Knock it off," Barrett fired back, but secretly he agreed.
The middle of a fight with four grashshrikes really wasn't the place to be interrogating the kid about Shinra policies, he did know that. But the surly mercenary's penchant for brushing him off with "how should I know?" type answers was grating on his nerves. All things considered, retorting "what, you don't remember?" shouldn't have been that big of a deal -- at least, it wouldn't have been for one of his team. But Cloud wasn't one of them. And something about Barrett's irritable comment had made him literally stumble mid swing, allowing an opportunistic grashshrike an opening to sting him in the side.
And unfortunately, what with how Tifa felt about her home -- the one Shinra destroyed -- Barrett suspected that saying Cloud was responsible for his own injuries wouldn't pass muster with the formidable Miss Lockhart. And anyway, regardless of how Barrett felt about the merc, he was Tifa's friend -- Ancients only knew why. The kid had lost enough for one lifetime. No reason to add her friend to that list.
"Well at least that was the last of 'em," he grunted, then he heaved himself upright and dusted off his knees.
"Jessie, Wedge, you go turn that job in and collect the pay. We'll meet you at the 7th Heaven to divide it."
He waved his machine-gun hand at Biggs.
"C'mere, you're making sure Junior here doesn't drop dead on the way home."
Cloud didn't mind Biggs, not really. But with the way his head was pounding, and his shirt felt like sandpaper against his chest, the idea of anyone "helping" him was both unappealing and embarrassing.
"Don't touch me," he snapped, pulling away quickly.
That was a mistake, as it turned out. The world started spinning again, and having an empty stomach didn't seem to matter after all as bile ejected from his mouth.
"Eesh." Wedge scrambled back. "You know what you need?"
"Five minutes' peace without all of you running around like broody chocobos?" Cloud asked dryly. This was ignored.
"You need a gingerbeer and salted crackers," Wedge said sagely. "Once that poison's cured, anyway."
"Leave me alone," Cloud groaned.
(Don't leave me alone! I don't want to be alone!)
"Just give me a Cure and I'll be fine."
"You need a Cura, idiot," Barrett chided him, without the usual bite. "We've got one at the bar."
Without a second of hesitation, the big man threw one of Cloud's arms over his shoulders and began walking. Cloud struggled to extricate himself from Barrett's grip, but doing so just made the nausea worse.
"I can walk!" he insisted.
"Like a drunken moogle, sure," Barrett snorted. "Listen kid, Tifa will have my head if I let you go back to work in this condition. You're lucky she wasn't there to see that, or we'd both be dead men. We're goin' home."
Cloud bared gritted teeth. "I'm going to throw up on you," he threatened.
Barrett just tightened his grip and rolled his eyes.
"Like I've never been puked on before?"
On Cloud's other side, Biggs gave him a weird look, and Barrett harrumphed a little.
"My daughter, knucklehead. You never burped a baby at Leaf House?"
"Ohhhh, gotcha." Biggs looked chagrined. "Kinda thought you meant bar patrons or something."
"You honestly think Tifa would let somebody get that drunk in my bar?" Barrett shook his head almost grimly. "Who needs a bouncer when you've got her?"
Cloud wasn't sure how they got from the edge of the slums to a ratty fold-out couch in the AVALANCHE headquarters after that, honestly, but at some point Biggs deposited a Cura on his chest with strict instructions to "play nice".
Cloud had been more confused about the direction than his sudden change in location...until he turned his head and found four year old Marlene wearing a children's Mage costume, holding a toy Bouncy Materia.
Bouncy Materia? That was a thing?
"I," said Marlene with all the solemnity a preschooler could muster, "am a mage. I'm gonna heal ya. Say aaaaahhhh."
Cloud blinked at the tiny figure incredulously. "....what?"
"Say aahhh!" Marlene repeated. "Daddy said to make sure you didn't get outta bed while he makes us lunch. Biggs said you had a tummyache, so I gotta make sure you don't have a bad sick like the flu."
"....how're you going to tell that by looking at my throat?" Cloud croaked.
The little girl shrugged. "I dunno, that's what the doctor does! She looks in my throat and then she knows why I feel sick."
Cloud pondered this.
"Well," he said at last, "I don't know enough about doctors to prove you wrong. Carry on, I guess."
He began to regret that when the sparkly stickers shaped like bandages came out.
All six sheets of them.

angstpril '24 day 7 — bad dreams
Summary : no summary today. too tired.
Word Count : 586 (this did NOT feel like 586. i feel like an ancient greek who just spent a year carving out a single sentence in a stone tablet.)
——————————☆——————————
Angelus was no stranger to bad dreams. Every so often, he would wake up covered in sweat and panting like a dog. It was a little embarrassing at best, but made him burn with shame that his friends saw him so weak at the worst.
He knew his friends had nightmares too. Yoshie would wake up crying and come curl up beside him some nights. Romaia had nights she wouldn't sleep just to avoid her dreams. Izz was more open about their dreams, talking to Angelus about them was therapeutic for them both. Cass never talked about nightmares, but Angelus had woken up to her in his bed more times than he could count.
He never judged his friends for these nights. If anything, they made him admire them more: how they carried on despite everything they'd been through and how it continued to affect them.
Tonight was turning out to be ‘one of those nights’.
Angelus woke up from yet another nightmare, the third one this week, and Cass was lying face down with her arm slung over his chest. The weight helped Angelus ground himself and soon he was drifting back to sleep.
“Angel?” A soft voice echoed throughout the room. Thessalia.
“Mhm… What's up Thessie?” He mumbled, not wanting to wake up Cass or the others.
She paused. Angelus fought to keep his eyes open as she spoke.
“I… I had a nightmare. Could I, um, sleep here tonight?”
Angelus lifted his head to examine the length of his sleeping bag. With him and Cass in it, it was already pretty cramped.
“You're too tall.” He explained. “Won't fit.”
Thessalia made an offended noise and pointed to the ground beside her. Angelus tilted his head to the side and saw she had drug her own sleeping bag there.
“Oh. That makes more sense.” He said. “Of course, just be quiet.”
Thessalia smiled (or it looked like she did, it was too dark to tell), and Angelus fell back asleep quickly.
He was woken back up by a soft paw slapping his face. When he opened his eyes, Yoshie was crouched by his head, paw raised to give him another soft bap. Her pupils widened comically when he smiled at her.
“Why are you awake?” She asked.
“You hit me.”
She hummed and Angelus noticed there were tear tracks streaming down her cheeks. He reached up and stroked her hair a few times before patting the space between himself and Thessalia.
Yoshie smiled softly and curled up beside his head. Angelus checked that Cass was still asleep and rolled on to his side, ready to get back to bed. Instead, he was met with Cithrel setting up his sleeping bag.
“Nightmare?”
Cithrel didn't reply, but his movements slowed a little as he settled into the sleeping bag.
Angelus sighed. It wasn't that he minded his friends slowly forming a massive cuddle pile, it was that he was going to end up on the bottom of it.
Slowly, throughout the night, Rona, Izz, and Romaia all ended up joining the pile. Rona curled up near Yoshie. Izz somehow managed to squeeze in with Cithrel. Romaia was sprawled out beside Thessalia.
Angelus was hit with the realization that his friends didn't see him as weak for having nightmares. No matter how much he thought it was true, the proof was right there. When they were at their most vulnerable, their weakest, they came to him.
So maybe it was okay for him to go to them.

A start of a new beginning
7:30 am, ring ring! "Eddie! You're gonna be late for your first day of junior high!" Eddie's eyes opened "shit! Shit! Shit!!!" He yelled as he got up and ran to grab something to wear "where's my Black Sabbath tee?!" Eddie yelled out "in the dryer!" Wayne answered. Eddie nodded and ran into the laundry room, it wasn't there "damnit!" Eddie left it alone and ran to the bathroom and quickly took a shower, washing his hair throughly, then his body. He got out after a bit and dried himself off, and wrapped a towel around his hips before we went to the dresser, grabbing a pair of black jeans with chains on it. He had ran to his dresser and grabbed a Beatles shirt "this will work" Eddie whispered to himself. He put on the shirt and ran into the kitchen, grabbing an apple "bye! Love you" he said as he hugged Wayne and Wayne nodded before heading out the same time as Eddie, going to work. Eddie got in the car and drove to school.
Steve alarm started going off, waking him up instantly. His head ringing. Waking up to a bad hangover, him and Jason and the boys had went to their hideout to drink beer yesterday, Steve assumed it was a bad idea but Jason had convinced Steve it wasn't... though Steve should've listened to his gut, because it was school today, first day of junior high.  He had got up and took a shower, washed his gorgeous hair and dried himself. He had did his hair, after putting on his clothes, a basketball jacket, and some jeans. He had put some hairspray on, went to his mirror, picking up his cologne and spraying it. He grabbed his bag and went downstairs, and passing the kitchen and leaving to his car, and drove to school.
Eddie entered the building, walking to his locker. Used to the familiar stares. He went to his locker, putting his books in and grabbing his chemistry books, leaving the ones for his next. After a few moments Eddie had gotten pushed really hard against his locker "ow-" he whined and leaned away. It was Jason and his gang, Steve was beside Jason "what the hell do you douche bags want?" Eddie muttered "nothin' freak. Just want to say..." Jason leaned close to Eddie "have a horrible fucking year, dork." Jason growled in his ear (not literally) Eddie stared at him "Hope you fucking get split in half." Eddie spat on Jason's face before he grabbed his books and bag, and ran into the first class. He sat in the back as I leaned his head back. Jason yelled from down the hallway "your fucking done for after school!" Eddie just sighed and leaned his head against the table.
Steve had got to school, grabbing his books from his locker and putting them in his bag. Jason had walked behind Steve grabbing his shoulders, greeting him. Jason said "wanna go pick with the freak?" Jason grinned evilly "sure" Steve was never fond of... doing such childish things in the morning. He followed Jason and watched. Snickering at the defeat he gave Jason, watching him runoff. Groaning, knowing that there was gonna be fight the first day. Steve had went into the class room and sat down behind Steve. One thing Steve didn't like, was that he had every class with Eddie... but not the last one. But it was weird how he liked to watch Eddie do whatever he wanted in every class. But he seemed to be very intrigued in English, probably it was because of the DND thing he did after school all the time. He always came up with little plots and stuff for campaigns, so he was always writing. Another thing, Steve had caught on that Eddie never came to do that stuff in the gym when Steve and Jason's gang was there, but when it was just Steve and other people he would come. Steve stared at Eddie, whilst Eddie chewed on gum. Steve also knew Eddie loved watermelon gum, and that Eddie fidgeted it a lot. Steve got out of his thoughts and payed attention, kinda. He was sitting in front of Robin Buckley, he never really noticed her because he was always too busy being a jerk. Steve didn't eat anything this morning,  so he picked up a bagel and took it to first period to eat it, it was his occasional thing. Robin was staring at Steve. After class, Steve had went to the gym in the school, just to play around with the other kids.
Eddie had chewed on his watermelon gum, while he played with his rings. He knew Steve sat behind him, Eddie was never fond of Steve when he started bullying him, but that was the least of his worried because Steve didn't fuck with him when his dipshit of friends weren't with him. After class ended Eddie had picked up his things and went to the gym, having it all scheduled out, when Steve and his friends played, and when it was just Steve and some other people. He walked into the gym and went up the balcony to the very top, and he started writing stuff for his campaign. The only people who were in his campaign at the moment was his band. After a while, Eddie finished and closed his binder, watching the people play basketball. It was always fun watching... well mainly Steve because he was better than most the people there, and Steve's friends didn't even play that well. But when Billy came in last year, Steve was the second best of a basketball player. So his friends had seemed to get that, and make it seem like Steve wasn't any better as then... but really Steve was awesome.

Inside of Your Light
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jeff Wittek x Plus Size Model! Reader
Summary: The vlog squad threw you a special surprise for your birthday, including a big present that may change your life.
a/n: songfic What Have I Done by Dermont Kennedy
You woke up around 7 o'clock in the morning when your phone rang. You groggily grab it and see that your boyfriend, Jeff, started to facetime you. "Hello?" you whispered as your eyes tried to pry open.
"Happy Birthday, baby girl." Jeff said brightly, making you blush.
"Aww, thank you, Jeff. But why did you call me so early in the morning?" You joked as you started to sit up on your mattress. "Sorry, I'm at the gym at the hotel and I thought you'd be awake right now." Jeff replied sheepishly. Jeff got offered a brand deal in New York so he wasn't able to celebrate your special day in LA.
"It's ok, I was meaning to get dolled up a bit before Carley and Erin pick me up to get our nails done." You started to yawn as it made Jeff's heart melt a bit. "You're so cute when you wake up." he said, admiring how the sun hits the back of your head.
You smirk back at the screen as you playfully roll your eyes. “And to everyone else in the world, I’m Frankenstein coming back from the dead.” Jeff laughed harder as he smiled at you. “I gotta go and wrap my reps. Just wanted to wish my best girl an amazing day.” You blow him an air kiss as he winked back. “Love you, babes.” You said as you got out of bed. “Love you more,” Jeff said before he hung up the call.
You take a deep breath and thought how lucky you were to be with a guy like Jeff. You and Jeff joined the vlog squad around the same time a few years back. You were a plus-size model for a few companies like Fashion Nova and Pretty Little Thing. Once you started off your YouTube channel, Carley saw your videos and dmed you on Instagram to hang out sometime. You met up at a lunch with the group and she introduced you to everyone, but somehow caught Jeff’s eye.
The whole time, you and Jeff started to hit it off. Then with a lot of flirting and calling each other late at night, you both decided to make it official. Jeff thought you would turn him away due to his past, but you truly accepted him for his journey, even if it wasn’t pretty. Now you were going strong for about three years, and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
After you’ve gotten ready, Erin texted you that they were outside. You head out and enter their car as they began filming. “Hey, guys! We just picked up our queen, happy birthday!” You smile brightly as you buckle in the back. “Thank you guys!” you said. Carly turns back to you and gives you your favorite Starbucks drink and a cake pop. “Thought you could use a little sugary treat to start the day.” You make a small pout from the gesture, thanking her again.
On your way to the nail salon, you guys start talking about David’s latest antics as well as a fancy restaurant that just opened that you really wanted to try. The girls make a face at the camera but you didn’t make of it as you arrived at your appointment. Carly switches off the camera as you all started heading out of the car.
Once you were all done, you all started to fan over the amazing job of your nail artists (which you all generously tipped) and decided to go out for lunch. “Are we still clubbing tonight?” Carly asked as she sipped her Seltzer. You nod yes as you finished a bite of your appetizer. “Yep, I’m so excited to wear this cocktail dress Jeff gave me before he left. I just wished he was here to celebrate.” You said, fumbling with the end of a napkin in front of you.
The girls give you a sympathetic look, knowing how much you’ve been missing him the past couple of days. Even after they changed the subject, all you could think of was Jeff. But after a good meal and a little site seeing, you started to feel a bit better. The girls dropped you home so you could relax before clubbing the night away.
Right when it hit evening, you began getting ready as you curled your hair and did your makeup just right. You slipped on the dress Jeff gave you that adored every curve on your figure, silently thanking your boyfriend for his taste in fashion.
You suddenly hear a knock at the door, thinking it's one of the girls. You unlock the door and open it to reveal no other than your very well-dressed boyfriend. "Jeff! You're back!" You screamed as you gave him a crushing hug, later kissing him. "Hey, doll." Jeff whispered as you took his breath away, taking out a bouquet of your favorite flowers.
"What are you doing back home?" You asked, still dazed that's actually at your doorstep. "C'mon, did you really think I was going to miss my best girl's big day?" He questioned with a twinkle in his eye. You roll your eyes and hug him again, truly blessed to have such an amazing boyfriend.
"I'm here to pick you up to your destination, shall we?" He offers his hand that you gladly took it. He helps you in his car as you both drove off to the main road with his hand on your upper thigh. You notice that he doesn't take the road to the club. "Babe, I think you missed a turn." you told Jeff who was smirking even more at your cluelessness. "Don't worry dolI, I know where I'm going." he takes a hold of your hand and kisses your knuckle as you blush harder.
He then parks in a parking lot and goes out of the car to open your door. Before you could actually take in your surroundings, Jeff shielded your view. "Hey! Jeff seriously, where are we?" you lightly scolded him. "You gotta trust me now, okay?" you agreed as you grumbled under your breath. With a few more steps, you start to enter a doorway that was decorated with...
streamers?
Jeff takes his hands off and you see all of your friends surrounding you. "Happy Birthday!" they all screamed out loud. You smile from ear to ear as Jeff wrapped his arms around your waist. Utterly shocked, you did your best to express your happiness but you were beyond speechless.
You suddenly realized that the place you were in was the restaurant you've desperately wanted to try and you turn around to Jeff who was beaming at your joy. "All for you, baby girl." his husky voice told you as you hugged him, pecking his face with kisses. Then, all of your friends ushered you both in to dine and dance. You saw how the entire restaurant had accents of rose gold decorations, as well as your friends wearing the same color palette.
Although this surprise was really touching, something was bothering you. Usually, they would throw parties like these for David, so why would they celebrate something big for you?
Later on, you all ate the most mouth-watering food as well as dancing to your favorite songs. Once they take out the birthday cake, you lose sight of Jeff. You ask Carly where he is but she brushed it off, saying that he's probably getting you a drink. As you started to dish out the cake, David stood up and clinked a knife to a glass.
"Hey everyone! If I could get your attention please." David shouted as the whole party calmed down. "There is a special surprise waiting outside on the back patio for our birthday girl, so could our celebrant please wear a blindfold?" Everyone started to cheer except for you. "I swear David if it's a wild animal..." you warned him but it was too late. One of the guys used a long fabric to cover your eyes, guiding you outside.
They take off the blindfold to reveal your boyfriend standing in front of you. You don't understand what's going on until you see a flower arch in the back of him, with a message illuminating "Marry Me." You gasp lightly as you cover your mouth with your eyes starting to water.
Jeff takes your shaking hands into his, ready to start his speech. “I wasn't really in New York for a brand deal, I was picking up your birthday gift.”
He then lowers himself on one knee, taking out a small pastel pink box to reveal a beautiful gold band decorated with transcendent diamonds. Both of you start to cry, but Jeff is literally a mess as he tries to finish his words.
“Before I met you, I thought I’d be better off alone. Now, my soul has been torn and reborn, started breathing for the very first in my life. As I’m standing in front of you, I wanna get it right for once.
Oh, believe me when I say I've been knocked out and beat but this feeling is fleeting. Even this morning, I've been thinking 'bout the way you smile golden…I want to move inside of your light.
I never thought I needed saving, I was right where I should be Good God, I know it's dangerous, but it's you that I need I'm in love this time. So, do you wanna be mine forever?”
You uncover your mouth and shake your head.
"Yes, yes, a thousand times yes." you said. The waterworks literally overcame both of you as he slid the ring around your finger, getting up to kiss your lips. Your friends cheer as they close up to you, firing confetti cannons into the air. You look up to Jeff as you wiped away his happy tears away from his face.
No words were exchanged, but you could tell through his eyes that he was forever grateful for you to be a part of his life. You both kiss again, ending the night with great friends and memories that will forever last in the video Joe has been recording for Jeff's channel (which trended 14 million on YouTube for a whole month).
You were the light in his life and he will bask in it for eternity.

hello I saw the request for fluff so here I am with a very self-indulgent request (I wasn't able to access your rules from your masterlist so I apologize if I violate any of them :(
this is probably bc I've been reading fics and whatnot 24/7 but I now have this intense desire to coddle the haikyuu boys. like calling them baby, cupping their face with my hands and kissing them all over, holding their head to my chest and playing with their hair, humming them to sleep... sksjsk is it obvious that I'm touch starved and lonely?
hopefully you like this idea! if you decide to write it, could you include akaashi, tsukishima, kuroo, iwaizumi, and daichi please? it's totally fine if you don't want to though. thank you so much and I hope you're doing well! <3
✗ CODDLING THE HAIKYUU BOYS
Tumblr media
hii !! the problem with the link to my rules should be fixed now, sorry about that ! but dw you respected all of them <3 and, as a fellow touch starved and lonely person, this request is absolutely adorable and i loved writing it ! also, i’m doing good ty, hope you are too !!
-> akaashi, tsukki, kuroo, iwa, daichi
-> reblogs are v cool but do what you want besties 🖤
Tumblr media
— AKAASHI
he absolutely loves it. falling asleep and waking up comfortably tucked in your embrace every day makes him the most grateful man on earth. he even clings onto your arm just to make sure he won’t move away from you in his sleep, because he would hate to open his eyes to anything other than your sleepy face as you place gentle kisses on his forehead, getting his arms covered with goosebumps. and the « did you sleep well baby ? » that rolls off your tongue seems to magically pull the corner of his lips upwards. there’s also something about having his head buried in the crook of your neck, with your smell being the last thing he focuses on before drifting off, that makes him realize that he will never get tired of the safety you bring him.
— TSUKISHIMA
at first, tsukishima has trouble understanding why everyone is making such a fuss about how nice it is to be pampered by a loved one. but one day - a really awful one that had almost made him cry - he discovers the joys of letting you be the big spoon for once ; and he promises himself to never turn you down again next time you’d ask to play with his hair. because the feeling of your fingers tangling in his locks is all he needs to fall asleep, no matter how much is on his mind. he doesn’t even get mad when you wake him up with a kiss on the tip of his nose, telling him that the dinner you have ordered has finally come. when you get up to open the door to the delivery man, he’s still by your side, his arm embarrassingly intertwined with yours because he just wants to make sure you won’t forget about him.
— KUROO
you’re a deity to this man, so you’re free to do literally anything your heart wishes. you want to squish his cheeks until they’re bright red ? and then kiss them until they’re back to their normal color ? go ahead. and have fun doing this please, because he loves nothing more than to hear you chuckle in his ear. also, since he mostly refers to you as kitten, it’s pretty logical for you to do the same. but the first time you call him baby :o ? not in a flirty way but in a genuinely sweet one ? he has never looked up from his homework so quickly, eyes wide because he didn’t expect to like the sound of it so much. « this is nice » he flashes you a satisfied smile before whispering to himself « this is very nice ».
— IWAIZUMI
he is so used to always be the one coddling you that it had never crossed his mind that roles could be inverted. but all it takes is for you to lovingly wrap him in a blanket on a particularly cold winter day to make him completely melt. the only times he usually lets himself being pampered is when he’s sick - and even then, he always tries to prove that he’s well enough to take care of himself. but it feels good to not associate your tender gestures of affection with runny nose, headache and sore throat for once… so screw having the upper hand during cuddles today, because he really needs those back hugs and hand massages. but most of all, he needs to hear that he’s doing well and that you’re proud of him <3
— DAICHI
daichi is always in charge. and as much as he loves his role, it doesn’t take him much to surrender to your sweet gestures, precisely because he enjoys being taken care of from time to time. you’re his favorite way to recharge his batteries, every kiss you pepper on his face makes him feel a little bit stronger. but paradoxically, you’re also the person that makes him relax the fastest. he could spend entire days listening to your heartbeat with his head on your chest while you let him talk about whatever comes to his mind - it feels nice to have actually have someone that listens to him, other than when he’s giving directions. but you can easily tell when he’s done talking because he always brings himself closer to you, inviting your arms to hold him just a little bit tighter as you take on the talking - only stopping when you’re sure he’s sound asleep.

Of Breakups and Snarky Remarks
Summary: Two months after your break up, your friends are sick and tired of you shutting yourself away from the world. Levi helps.
Pairing: Levi Ackerman x Fem!Reader (modern AU)
Warnings: language, unprotected sex, fingering, oral sex (male receiving), alcohol and drug use (weed), Floch is a creepy pervert, some fluff at the end.
Word Count: 3.5 k
A/N: I wish Levi helped me with my breakups lol
Tumblr media
Three loud bangs at your door interrupted your crying. Three more bangs made you turn over and scroll through your phone. Fourteen missed calls from Hanji, two missed calls from Levi, eleven texts from Erwin. Jesus, all you wanted was some fucking peace and quiet to mourn the end of your long-distance relationship.
Bang!
You shook your head and pulled the blankets closer to your chest. This wasn't the time for friends to pester you.
"Fuck off, Hanji!" You yelled from the top of the bed, crumbs of day-old mascara on your pillowcase. Disgusting.
"Inspection!"
"Oh, shit!" You shot up from the bed and threw the cans of beer in the bin, your ashtray and rolling papers in a drawer and your bullet vibrator under the pillow. "Give me a sec!" You pleaded while spraying perfume all over your bedroom to cover up the smell of cigarettes. You weren’t a regular smoker, but during your breakup, you tried and failed to roll cigarettes, occasionally smoking the ones you could roll. Living in a dorm was a nightmare, but you were a freshman at Stohess Uni and those were the rules. One more month and you'd move in with your friends, fucking finally. Scraping the dry mascara with your fingernails, you unlocked the door. Lo and behold, your eyes met with a shit-eating grin from Hanji, joined by Erwin and Levi. Great. They were probably here for an intervention. Defeated, you opened the door wider for the people, closing it behind them.
"It's been two months, Y/N." Hanji concluded, sitting at your desk. They rummaged through your drawer and pulled out your rolling papers.
"And?" You asked, back to the door.
"And it's time you moved on!" They threw their hands in the air in exasperation. "You can't stay here, sulking 24/7!"
"Watch me."
"Tch, Hanji's right. Besides, you look like shit. When’s the last time you took a bath, brat?" Levi spat, plopping on the bed, arms behind his head. Erwin sighed, his hand resting on your shoulder.
"They're right, you know? You'll never move on if you shut yourself in." The blond encouraged you. Wonderful, all three of your friends were against you.
"Who said anything about moving on? And what are you doing with my papers?" You slapped Erwin's hand and walked to the windowsill, eyes scanning the view. Summer was close and people were outside, drinking the sun in, walking around the campus, literally enjoying their lives, unlike you.
"You... don't want to move on?" Hanji was more than dumbfounded, sticking the pack of rolling papers in a pocket.
"No, I wanna get back with him!"
All three of them groaned simultaneously, making you turn around in confusion.
"What? I thought it was obvious!"
"Y/N, he cheated on you!" Erwin reminded you.
Shit. He did cheat on you. And not even once. Pressure knocked at your temples and you could feel a blood vessel burst. Why did they have to be right?
"Besides," Hanji chimed in, "we miss you. We've barely seen you since you two broke up."
Sadness filled your heart, realising that you, too, missed your friends. They meant everything to you since your boyfriend ex left for Marley University.
"Y/N, why is your pillow vibrating?" Levi asked, his hand searching for the source of the sound.
"No, wait–"
The brunette pulled out your pastel pink bullet vibrator quirking a brow at it while you buried your face in your hands. Hanji burst into laughter, tears at their eyes.
"I'm so sorry." You whispered, your cheeks the deepest shade of red. Erwin was at a loss for words while Levi shoved the object back under the pillow, not daring to touch it again. It amused him how embarrassed you were, because while you were busy bitching and crying about your ex for an entire semester, Levi developed a crush on you.
"Let's never talk about this again." He pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Are you kidding me? I already texted Eren." Hanji announced, still laughing while Levi was glaring daggers. "Oh, speaking of Eren, there's a party tonight. Everyone's gonna be there and who knows, maybe you'll find a cute guy!"
Silence engulfed the room as you pondered over the invitation, thumb touching your lips.
"You know what? You're right. It's time I forget that son of a bitch. I'm a strong fucking woman!" You decided.
"Hell yeah! Come at our place and bring your makeup bag, I wanna try a more feminine look." Hanji shrugged and you beamed.
"Can I do your makeup? Pleaaaaaase, Hanjiiii!" You looked at them with puppy eyes, not noticing the way Levi drank you in. You were absolutely oblivious at his feelings, the only other person in the room who knew being Erwin.
"Yeah, yeah, knock yourself out." They rolled their eyes. "Be there at 8, alright? And don't you dare take this back."
"I promise! And, uh, thank you for coming. I don't know what I'd do without you guys." You smiled.
•°☆°•☆•°☆°•
"You hate makeup." Levi bluntly told Hanji as he looked for clothes in his closet.
"That one!" They pointed at simple a black shirt. "Works with the ripped jeans. And yeah, I hate makeup, but I'm doing it for Y/N. You should try being nice sometimes. Costs zero cents."
"No, thanks." The brunette clicked his tongue as the doorbell rang. "Get the door."
"You get the door!"
"Tch, why should I get the door?"
"Because I need to get dressed." Hanji grinned.
"And I don't? At least you have a shirt on."
"Just open the damn door, Levi."
"Fuck's sake."
You waited patiently in front of the house your friends shared, backpack in your hands. To be fair, you were excited — it's been ages since you've been to a party. Fortunately, you didn't have to worry about your boyfriend anymore, and you could finally have some proper fun. The door swung open and there stood Levi, top less, and for the first time you noticed how fucking good he looked. The V on his lower abdomen pointing down to the waistband of his boxers, visible above his jeans. You didn't look so bad yourself, now that you were cleaned up and pampered. In fact, you looked like a doll kept in a box and Levi felt his heart flutter in his chest. The dark circles under your eyes disappeared, the clumpy run-down mascara replaced with sharp eyeliner wings, lips crimson. God, how he wanted to smear that lipstick with his cock.
"Can I come in?" You giggled after a long and awkward pause.
"Yeah, sure. Hanji's upstairs." Levi pointed his index finger towards the stairs.
"Great!" You flashed him your pearls and dashed to Hanji’s room.
As always, Erwin was the designated driver. He didn't like to drink or get high, he much preferred to just join you and listen to music, occasionally dance, and very rarely enjoy a fine wine, but cheap alcohol and weed weren't on his bucket list. You and Hanji argued over the music in the car, while Levi was already exasperated by you two. Every single time you were in the same room as Hanji, all hell broke loose. He lowkey liked to hear your voice, even when you yelled the lyrics at the top of your lungs — tone deaf.
Eren, Mikasa and Armin greeted you and within an hour the house was full of people. Three more hours and you were high as a kite, dancing in the living room with Sasha and Historia. It felt amazing to wind up and forget, and just like Hanji said, someone got his eyes on you. Floch was two years older than you, same year as Levi, Erwin and Hanji, and he was cute, you couldn't deny that. But the guy was so damn pushy. He'd been chasing you up until he heard you have a boyfriend, but now that you were single, he wouldn't give up. You were in the kitchen, pouring yourself some cranberry juice and vodka and Floch followed you, begging you to dance with him.
"I'm tired, Floch, I've been dancing for an entire hour." You half-laughed, trying your best not to be rude.
"Pop a pill and you'll be as energetic as ever." The ginger sneered, his hand massaging your shoulder. God, you were disgusted.
"I'm not doing pills, thanks." You removed his hand from yourself, nose scrunched.
"Come on, Y/N, why d'you have to be such a bitch?"
"Excuse me?" You took a step backwards but that only made him pinning you to the kitchen counter easier. Floch's other hand snaked up your thigh and you tried to push him off and failing.
"I promise I'm a nice guy, Y/N. Gimme a chance and you'll see." He leaned into you, fingers digging into your flesh through your jeans.
"Just get off me, you perv!"
"You heard the lady, get off of her before I put my foot up your ass." Levi walked into the kitchen and Floch released you, backing off with his hands in the air and a frown. "Come on, Y/N, we're leaving."
You didn't waste another minute and rushed to your friend's side, exiting the house.
"Hanji and Erwin?" You asked.
"They wanna stay for another hour." Levi shrugged. "We're going to our place."
Erwin only took the car because he wanted to drive you back to the campus, their house being a twenty-minute walk from Eren's. But since you and Levi left earlier, you agreed to go to his place. The two of you walked in silence, your brain only making up scenarios about what could've happened if Levi didn't show up.
"Thanks." You told him as he unlocked the door. "Honestly, the look in Floch's eyes scared the shit out of me. So, thank you, Levi." You dared to kiss him on the cheek.
"Don't mention it. The guy's notorious for being a pervert." He flipped the switch on, ignoring the little peck which, in all honesty, made his hairs stand up. "Tea?"
"Yes, please. Hey, you think I could crash over tonight? I don't feel like going back to my dorm knowing Floch's roaming the campus, preying on girls."
"I don't see why not." Levi filled the kettle with water and turned it on. "You can take my room, I'll sleep on the couch."
"Bullshit, I'll sleep on the couch."
"Tch, don't argue with me, brat, I'm high."
"God, I love it when you call me a brat." You absentmindedly admitted, shame filling your brain after you realised you shouldn't have said that out loud.
Levi slowly turned around and quirked a brow at your statement and your blushing cheeks.
"What did you just say?"
"I said I hate it when you call me a brat." You lied, but you knew he didn't buy it. He was too smart for your pathetic lie.
"I'll call you whatever I want, brat." Levi uttered the last word with hints of sarcasm and flirt, sending shivers of arousal down your spine. You swallowed hard and got up from the chair, tentatively walking closer to him. It was obvious by now that you were attracted to your friend, the lingering traces of your ex long gone. You spent more time with Levi than you did with your ex, it was only natural that you two became closer. The gap between you and him closed, and he stiffened, not knowing what was going through your pretty head.
"Then I hope you don't mind me doing this." You wrapped your hands around his nape and pulled him into a lustful kiss. Levi kissed you back with so much force and desire that he pushed you into the counter behind you, the impact making you moan.
"Wait, wait!" You pulled back as he scoffed, annoyed by the interruption. "Hanji and Erwin, silly."
The brunette groaned, the bulge in his jeans growing bigger, longing for release. He pulled his phone out and texted Hanji to come back in at least an hour.
"Done." Levi threw his phone somewhere and resumed the kiss, hungry for more. Under his hot touch you remembered that it wasn't new for you to feel this way. Even when you first met him, you couldn't take your eyes off of him. Even when you had phone sex with your boyfriend, your mind sometimes wandered at him. Even when you touched yourself, alone at night, his face was engraved on your retina. Perhaps those months of crying and locking yourself up in your dorm weren't because you missed your ex — you did that because you didn't want to face the reality of falling in love with your best friend.
Levi's fingers moved up your spine and into your hair, pulling your head away from him.
"I need to know you want this, Y/N, because if you do, I will not hold back and I will not turn back." His dark, lustful gaze found your doe eyes and you nodded.
"I want this – no, I want you. I need you like I need air, Levi!" Your voice frail and soft and he closed his eyes for a moment before he picked you up and sat you on the counter. The water stopped boiling minutes ago, steaming the cabinet above it. He didn't care. His fingers were fumbling with the zipper of your jeans while you took your tank top off, revealing your see-through lace bra. Levi took a step back to admire the sight in front of him, your nipples protruding through the textile, your dishevelled Y/H/C hair, your smeared lipstick. He unbuttoned his shirt, or, for lack of a better word, he ripped it off of himself, and you found yourself gently touching his shoulders and pulling him towards you. The brunette groaned when you kissed his neck, leaving small bruises on his soft skin. He paid you back, but his kisses were harsher, his teeth grazing your neck, bite marks trailing from underneath your ear, all the way to your shoulder. Levi wasn't kidding when he said he wouldn't hold back, but you were intoxicated by him. Finally, you removed your jeans and underwear, eager to be fucked and not giving a shit about foreplay. He did the same, his cock finally released of the confinement of the boxers. Levi was delicious, thick and long, and you licked your lips in anticipation, but he wanted to feel you with his fingers first. He wanted to know just how wet you were for him, and when two of his fingers entered your slick, silken folds, your legs turned to jelly. It's been too long since you've had sex, and the feeling of him finger-fucking you was incredible.
"Look how wet you are." Levi pumped his fingers in and out of you. "You dirty little brat." He kissed your thigh and immediately dug his teeth into your flesh. The sensation made you scream, clenching your walls around his long, slender fingers. His other hand found your mouth, fingers slipping between your lips. "We don't want the neighbours calling the police now, do we, slut?" He asked, not expecting an answer from you. The sight of your cheeks hollowing around his fingers, saliva dripping down your chin as you sucked on them made Levi a very happy man. It was a long and painful year to watch you go through all sorts of emotions — in love, hurt, mentally destroyed, horny — and not be able to do anything about it. With a grunt you slightly bit his fingers, enough for him to retract them from between your lips, earning a displeased look from the brunette.
"Just fuck me, Levi! Please!" Your voice was messing with his mind, so seductive yet so soft, demanding yet innocent.
"You're driving me insane, Y/N." He removed his fingers from your drenching cunt. "You're so loud all the time and it's annoying the shit out of me." Levi grabbed his veiny, throbbing cock, the tip barely touching your folds. "You bitch all the time, you look at me with those beautiful fucking eyes of yours." He pushed his shaft in you so painstakingly slowly, moans stopping in your throat. "When I see you, my head gets filled with bizarre thoughts — shit, you're so tight."
You took him all in like a good girl, the squelching sounds so sinful it would make a nun cry. Once you adjusted to his girth, Levi picked up the pace, his hands grabbing your hips and pulling you closer to him. His back was covered in scratches, courtesy of your manicured nails, the high of the drugs replaced by the pure pleasure of him fucking you.
"Ah– Leeevi!" You pulled his head into the smooth curve of your neck, his teeth nibbling the skin. His thrusts were far from gentle, the desire of wanting to have you consuming him. The friction made you pant like a bitch in heat, your swollen clit sensitive to the touch. Levi didn't want this moment to ever end, but when your breath hitched, he knew you needed to finish. Your legs wrapped around his waist and one of his hands moved down, thumb circling over your pretty pink clit to help relieve you of the built up pressure.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck! I think I'm gonna–" The words choked in your throat as you climaxed, electricity shooting through you from head to toe. You threw your hands around his shoulders as he slowly pulled out, but Levi wasn't done yet. His stamina and sex drive were off the charts, you knew that, because every time he talked about his little sexcapades, you couldn't help the bitter sense of jealousy creep in your heart. He took a step back, allowing you to breathe and climb down from the counter, kneeling in front of him. The sight of you below him was forever plastered in his mind, and your lips formed a perfect round shape before taking the tip of his cock in your mouth.
"Shit–"
Your tongue swirled around his member, tasting a mix between your saccharine juices and his salty precum. It was better than anything you've ever savoured. Although you only took half of him inside your mouth, his cock was already hitting the back of your throat, but you really wanted to be a good girl, and pushed your limits, despite never deepthroating anyone in your life. Levi's hand found your nape and he held your head in place, thrusting in and out of your mouth before shoving his member down your throat and holding it there. You fought your gag reflex, tears pooling at the corners of your eyes. It didn't hurt, you were just not accustomed to the feeling which you swiftly started to enjoy. He released you and you gasped for air before spitting on his cock, determined to finish him off. Unsurprisingly, the movement of your head back and forth brought him closer to the edge, and you remembered a thing you saw in a porn once.
"Don't stop-" Levi practically begged but you did and slightly bent your head down. "Y/N, what the shit are you do-do-doing– ah fuck!" His moans encouraged you as your fingers wrapped around his pulsating cock. You tested the waters by licking his balls before sucking them, the slurping sounds sending the man into a frenzy. "You shitty brat–" Levi groaned, the hot milky white liquid shooting in your palm. You flashed him a sheepish look and he sighed. "Don't do it."
"Do what?" You smiled, your delicate tongue poking out from your mouth as you ever so slowly licked the cum dripping down your hand.
"That."
Great, yet another image to be added in the back of his mind for lonely nights.
"Why? Afraid you won't handle a second round?" You chuckled as you got up, washing your hands in the sink.
"There won't be a second round with Hanji and Erwin coming back soon, dumbass." Levi found a napkin and wiped himself clean.
•°☆°•☆•°☆°•
You calmly sipped your tea in the tidied-up kitchen as Hanji and Erwin came back home. Levi was too good at pretending nothing had happened, but you tried to keep your cool.
"Ah, Y/N, whatever did you do to poor Floch?" Hanji drunkly stumbled in the kitchen. "Poor guy's been talking about you the whole night!"
"He can go fuck himself." You rolled your eyes. "Crazy motherfucker."
"Oh God, you missed the best part." Erwin laughed. "He tried to hit on Annie before we left and she beat the shit out of him."
You chocked on the tea, wishing you'd have seen that, but Hanji got you covered, pulling out their phone and showing you a very shaky video of the blonde roundhouse kicking Floch in the face.
"What an idiot!" You laughed and noticed Levi staring at you like you were his dessert.
"What about you guys? What have you been up to?" Erwin casually asked as your cheeks flushed crimson.
"N-nothing, really." You smiled.
"We fucked." Levi shrugged, making everyone drop what they were doing. "What? Is it so surprising?"
"Ugh, about time. I could cut the sexual tension between you with a knife." Hanji snorted.
"Wait a minute, what?" You blinked.
"Oh, get over yourself, Y/N, everyone knows you two are obliviously and obviously in love with each other." Erwin shook his head. It wasn't like him to be so blunt, but perhaps it was exactly what you needed to make peace with the fact that you were in love with Levi.
"How was it obvious??" You cried out but your friends knew you too well.
"Well, I guess I'm your boyfriend now." The brunette simply stated.
"Aren't you a romantic?" Hanji playfully punched Levi's shoulder. "Now can we please go to sleep? I'm so tired!" They winced.
"Careful, Hanji, you're bedroom's next to mine." Levi threatened them, but his eyes were on you.
"I got ear plugs, you short shit. Go ahead and fuck like rabbits for all I care!"
"Tch, you're incorrigible."
You were so grateful Hanji talked you into going to that party. Perhaps all you needed was a little push for you to finally find peace and come to your senses with the idea of loving your best friend. You stretched your hand over the table and took Levi’s hand into yours. He wasn’t a touchy-feely person, but when he sensed your touch, he instantly relaxed, realising how natural it felt to be around you.

Whacky Gotham, Goofy New York, and Chaotic Paris.
(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Part 6) (Part 7)
Chapter 5: Then Let The Games Begin
•—–—–·†·–—–—•
Soooo, the Batfam is panicking, Gotham's confused as to why Iron Man is flying over Gotham like a madman, and Maria is with two of Gotham's Sirens (but only Ivy and Harley know this) having a wonderful time playing with Bud and Lou.
Let's start with the Sirens.
Harley is watching over Maria and Tikki as they sleep with Bud and Lou, Ivy walkes over to sit next to Harley, handing her a cup of tea.
"So, what's the diagnosis?" - Ivy
"She has some sort of trauma, has class issues... and handles more than she should, but still does everythin', on top of bein' a hero. She's been through some sh-t Pam." Yeah Harley may have found out Maria's a hero (if the tiny god and magic were anything to go by).
"Is she alone?" - Ivy
"No, thankfully, she has supportive parents, and friends that aren't little sh-ts. I think they're also heroes, she also has a lot, and I a mean A LOT of pent up emotions, she doesn't show anythin' negative, only positive things. She seems to shrink in on herself if she thinks she does somethin' wrong. Pam, we both know there's a limit to how much crap a person can take before they snap, and she's such a sweet kid. There has to be somethin' we can do to help her Ives." Ok she found out alot, but in Marias' defense, they have trustworthy souls, and they were the only other people (besides her friends) that she talked to about it, yes she had her Maman and Uncle to talk about hero stuff, but for the stuff her class does, she only ever vented (without being negative) to her friends.
"Her class is visiting the Botanical Gardens in three days, and it's a 2 part tour, so we can see just what's going on. If it's bad then we scare them a bit, if it's bad bad... they can handle a few slightly poisonous plants right?" - Ivy
"God I love the way ya think Ives, do ya think she can stay with us? I mean look at how cute she is with Bud and Lou... Oh my god, she's cuddlin' dem, and ya gave her a flower crown, how'd I miss that?! Where's the camera?"
Tumblr media
Harley took a picture to remind her of this wonderful moment. As Ivy and Harley looked at the picture, they both promised to keep Maria safe, and maybe become sorta kinda-ish parents to her while she's in Gotham.
•—–·Now back to the Bat-Chaos Bat-Cave·–—•
Tim took over the chair and was now searching the possible locations with Jarvis, Damian was sitting on a different chair, trying to act cool, but he wouldn't stop looking over at Tim, to see his progress. Bruce was talking over the comms with Tony. Dick and Jason, weren't helping (they kept feeding each other worse and worse ideas of what could have happened to Maria). Then they heard Jarvis speak.
"I have found the most likely area Ms. Dupain-Cheng would be in. Her phone died about 56 blocks away from her hotel, if we don't count kidnapping, or murder, she would have thought about asking for directions, but may have decided not to considering the city she is in. So that leaves us with a possible 15-25 mile radius from her last known location. I think it best to divide into groups of two, have Oracle stay and update you if anything on security, and or traffic cameras happens. Bruce will be with Tony, Dick will go with Tim, and Jason will go with Damain to search within the area. Stephanie and Cassandra will search around a 5 mile radius near Wayne hotel." as Jarvis continued to explain the other details, the Batfam began to suit up, Batman met up with Iron Man, and they took the North area, Nightwing and Red Robin took the East area, while Red Hood and Robin searched the South. Steph and Cass were on foot in civilian clothes, searching the West area they were assigned.
They searched for the whole day, and came up with nothing. Until Oracle saw a video from a traffic cam around 9pm, 15 blocks away from where her phone died. She called it in and everyone went back to the cave. Once everyone was at the Bat-Computer, Oracle pressed play, the cameras didn't have sound, and it wasn't close enough to see if she was ok.
They watched as she went to an overgrown parking lot and sat down. She was looking down at the ground, and that's when they spotted two figures round the corner and spot her. They watched as the two figures approach Maria, and saw the startled reaction she had. They realized it was Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy that were talking to her, then they saw Maria collapse. They watched as Harley made sure she was ok, looking over to Ivy before looking back to Maria and picking her up. The last thing they saw, was Maria being carried away by two of Gothams' most dangerous rouges, but now they knew where to look next.
•—–· Back to Ivy and Harley ·–—•
Harley continued to take adorable pictures of the children.
"God, they're so f-ckin' cute!" - Harley for the 20th time
As Ivy continued to watch while caring for her plants, Catwoman walked in.
"Hey girls, got the stuff for movie night, so what are we- Holy mother of cats! He adopted another f-cking child didn't he! Where the hell does he keep finding them?! 7 was ment to be the god DAMN LIMIT!!!" - Catwoman
Maria jumped at the sudden shouting and may have accidentally summoned a yo-yo (one made useing creation magic and protection magic) before saying.
"Tikki where's the akuma?! How long was I out?! Forget it Tikki spot-" she then realized she wasn't in Paris, and seeing a new face, she also realized she just spilled her secret to another person within the same day... kinda
"Fffffffffffudge sunday that fell on the pavement!" - Maria shouted in baker profanities
"That's not how ya curse sweetheart. It should go more like-" Harley was cut off by a vine Ivy had summoned.
"Harley, cursing makes the plants sad, you know this." - Ivy said removing the vine
Harley just walked over to Maria and whipsered it in her ear.
"You're supposed to say it more like this, ' ..... .... ... .. ....... .. ... .....' ok?" - Harley ended with a big smile
"... I will never see this world in the same frickin' light ever again." - Maria
"ehh close enough." - Harley
"Can someone please tell me, WTH is going on here, on our special girls day off?!" - Catwoman
"She is a new member of the Sirens as of today, and as a member, she's unda our protection, so effective immediately." - Harley
"Cool." - Maria
"Harley." - Ivy
"Wut... first things first, if she is going to join, she needs to be very flexible, know how to fight, and be incredibly intelligent." - Catwoman
"She beat Ed's @ss with a gun pointed at her, and solved every riddle with ease, so I'm positive she'll be an amazin' addition to the team." - Harley
'God she sounds like a new mother now' "But we don't know how good her flexibility is." - Catwoman
"I know, hey Maria, ya wanna do some tricks with me, of course we need to stretch first, but do ya wanna give it a go?" - Harley
"Sure." - Maria
Ivy and Catwoman sat down on a couch a few feet away from where Maria and Harley stood in the empty part of the building. They started out with stretches, and to Catwoman's surprise (and Harley's delight) Maria copied Harleys streches perfectly.
"Ok, now that that's done, we'll start with some cartwheels, then move on to flips, then handsprings and so on." - Harley
Maria gave Harley a nod... and they were off... literally, Harley did a cartwheel into a handspring, and a few backflips, Maria executed it flawlessly. Harley did some more complicated gymnastics tricks, and Maria did it, Harley did triple backflips going into a cartwheel, into a summersault, and Maria did that perfectly as well. This went on until both Harley and Maria were slightly out of breath, both having massive smiles on their faces.
"Ives, please let her join, she's like a mini me." - Harley then hugged Maria and they somehow both tripled in cuteness as they both did puppy (or Puss In Boots style) eyes at Catwoman and Ivy.
"Sure Harley." - Ivy said walking over to give Harley a small kiss on the cheek.
"Okay... but she doesn't have a costume yet, and she still has to think of a name for herself." - Catwoman
"Is a mouse good, like a mouse themed costume, that or a Turtle themed one. What do you think Harley?" - Maria
"Mmmm, I like that with the mouse you can always toy with Cat, ya know, cat an' mouse stuff, turtle seems... weird even fawh Gotham, so personally I would pick mouse, just because of the cheesy jokes you could do." - Harley
"Very funny, ok then, give me a moment."  Maria then reached out her hand, her eyes then started to glow an icy blue, and a small portal opened in front of her, she reached in and pulled out a small pendant necklace. After she put it on a small mouce appeared and greated itself, Marias' eyes going back to normal after closing the portal.
"Hello I'm Mullo, nice to meet you all."
"Omg omg omg, It's soooo f-ckin' CUTE!" - Harley
"Best to assume all of them are extremely cute Harls." - Ivy
"What the Hell did I miss in the week I was gone?!" - Catwoman
"Ehh, not much, oh but Iron Man did fly aroun' Gotham a few times earlier this mornin' like a madman." - Harley
"Oh sh-t." - Maria
"Maria are ya ok? That was ya first official proper curse in my presence." Harley said looking over to the girl.
"He's gonna kill me." - Maria
"Wait, what do you mean Marigold?" - Ivy
"... He's my Uncle, and I never got to text him I was ok, since my phone died before I met you." - Maria
"Hey, I'm sure he'll understand, now what are we watchin'?" - Harley
"I think we have more important matters other than movies at the moment!" - Catwoman
"Ok, Me Myself and Irene it is." - Harley
"No! You basically kidnapped Iron Mans' NIECE!!!" - Catwoman
"Technically, she fainted and us bein' the good Gothamites we are, decided to take her with us, to make sure she was a-okay." - Harley
"I'm ganna need more than just a six pack of soda to get me through this... Just put the movie on already." - Catwoman
Catwoman sat at the far left end of the couch, next to her sat Ivy, then Maria, and then Harley, Bud and Lou by their feet. All of them sharing one big blanket (Becuase if Iron Man did show up, or any of the birds, then Maria was in a protective burrito and they may not see her right away) and they started the movie.
•—–·–—•
"Oh god, the poor cow." - Maria
.........
"Hahahaha, he stuck a whole f-ckin' chicken head in that guys @ss" - Harley
"The poor chicken." - Maria
"Maria you don't want to see this part." - Ivy then lightly covered her eyes for the ehem, chicken extraction.
.........
"Anyone up for another movie?" - Harley
"That depends." - Ivy
"Any suggestions Cat?" - Harley looked across to the other end of the couch to see Catwoman already sleeping.
"She took her cat-nap already? Seriously?" - Harley
"... What about Pirates of The Caribbean?" - Maria
"I'm good with that." - Ivy
And they started the next movie, Maria was happy, it felt like when her maman and papa would sleep with her when she made a pillow fort. It was a loving atmosphere, it felt safe, and nothing could ruin it. Marias' eyes became heavy, and she leaned her head on Harleys' shoulder, falling asleep after a few minutes.
Ivy paused the move looking over to see both Harley and Maria sleeping, soon Ivy also fell asleep in the comfortable silence.
…………………………
Around an hour later Maria woke up in a panic, she had a nightmare, and kept looking around frantically for someone with tears running down her face.
"What's the matter hun?" - Harley said looking around to see if someone had gotten in. When she looked back at Maria she saw that she was crying.
"What happened?" Harley asked in a kind voice that was filled with motherly love.
"I, just *hic* had a bad dream that's *hic* all, I'm fine." - Maira said trying to wipe the tears away.
"You're ok, I promise nothin's goin' to happen to ya as long as Ivy and I are here, ok hun?" - Harley hugged Maria, and she could feel the girl let out a few more sobs, and quick breathes.
"Thanks Maman." Maria didn't even realize what she had said, it just felt natural for her to say it.
"You're welcome hun." 'Omg I'm gonna cry, she called me maman!' Harley rubbed small circles over Marias' back, and began humming until she fell asleep, she continued to hug Maria until she also fell asleep.
•—–· Back to the Chaos Bat-Cave ·–—•
"What do you mean she's with two of Gotham City's Sirens?!" - Tony
"Tony, calm down, I'll call Selina, she can talk to them and get this all sorted out." - Bruce
"Your fiancee is a Gotham Siren too?! Why didn't you tell me?!" - Tony
"Why isn't she picking up? And unlike some people, this family doesn't like outing our secret identities... on live TV." - Bruce
"Oh well excuse me for not keeping my secret identity a SECRET!" - Tony
"I'll try calling her one more time." - Bruce
"Bruce, it's 3am. Who in their right mind ever stays up this late.... aside from this family." - Tim with a giant coffee mug in hand.
"... I'll just call her one more time." Bruce then connected it to the Bat-Computer so everyone could hear.
•—–· Back to the Sirens ·–—•
Catwoman's phone is ringing like crazy, waking everyone up, including a tired, annoyed, and confused Selina.
"Wth does he want at 3 in the morning?!" - Selina
"Just answer it so we can keep sleepin'." - Harley still hugging Maria
"I'm putting it on speaker, so you lot can testify against his @ss in court, for disturbing the peace."
•—–· Over to Batsy ·–—•
"Selina I need to ask-"
"WHAT THE F-CKING HELL DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT A GOOD NIGHTS REST!" - Selina
"Oooooh, she sounds pissed Bruce." - Jason
"I'm sorry to call you at this hour, but we need to find a girl that looks just like every single one of my other kids." - Bruce
"Bruce... I thought we agreed that 7 kids was. the. f-cking. limit." - Selina
•—–· Back to the Sirens ·–—•
Selina looked over to Maria before muting the speaker.
"Do you want them to know you're here Kitten?" - Selina
"... I'm tired, I haven't had coffee, I have no filter, so f-ck it, act like you never saw me today, and let them drown in chaos. " - Maria
"I think I like filter less Maria." - Harley
"Okay." Selina shrugged her shoulders and then un-muted her phone, putting it back on speaker mode.
"Where was she last seen?" - Selina
"She was last seen with Harley and Poison Ivy, I want you to see if she's still with them." - Bruce
Selina looked over to Maria and Harley, both of them shook their heads with mischievous grins.
"I've been with them all day, and I haven't once seen a girl that looks like your kids. Now can I go back to sleep, and forget this ever happened?" - Selina
"WHERE IS MY NIECE!!!" - Tony
"Oh, hey Tony, didn't know you were there, don't know who, or where your niece is, but good luck trying to find her. Oh and Bruce, I'm shutting my phone off so you don't keep calling till the butt crack of dawn. And congrats it's now 4am. you owe me a lunch date, uh-ba-bye." Selina then hung up her phone and turned it off.
"That went pretty well if you ask me, now I'm going back to sleep." - Selina
•—–· Back to Batsy ·–—•
The room was silent for a few minutes before Jason spoke up.
"Does that mean that Pixiepop ran away and is even more lost now?!" - Jason
"Oh god, what do we do, what if she got hurt?!" - Dick
"What if she got kidnapped?!" - Jason
"What if she's with a big time Gotham Villain?!" - Dick
"... What if she got more coffee?" - Tim
"Oh Hell No" - Jason/Dick
"... Lets all go to sleep, and when we wake up, we'll head over to their base and double check. She could've just said that because I called her at 3am." - Bruce
"But my niece is still out there!" - Tony
"You're going to sleep Tony." - Pepper then dragged Tony to his room.
•—–· Back to Maria ·–—•
Selina went to a different part of the building, where Maria assumed the bedrooms were. Ivy had gone to the greenhouse to be with the plants, and now it was just her and Harley left on the couch, and she couldn't sleep.
"... Harley?" - Maria
"Yeah hun?" - Harley
"I can't sleep." - Maria
"Well, watcha wanna do till ya get tired?" Harley asked sitting up a little straighter to get a better look at Maria.
Maria gave a sly smile, and looked Harley in the eyes "Want to go free-running on the rooftops?"
"... Alright, but lets get some coffee, and a snack in us first." - Harley gave her a side hug, before getting up to go make the coffee, and grab some snacks.
After they had their coffee, they climbed to the roof of the base. Harley was in her outfit, bat in hand and ready to do some bonding.
"So, how does ya outfit work?" - Harley
"Like so, ready Mullo?" - Maria
"Yes Maria" - Mullo
"Ok, Mullo, Get Squeaky!" A bright light flashes, and when Harley could see again, Maria was in a dark gray suit, wearing black knee high boots, with a strip of pink at the knee, and black elbow length gloves with the same pink strip at her elbow. Her mask was a slightly lighter gray on the top part, and pink on the bottom. Her hair was pulled into two buns with pink ribbons that faded to gray, and to black at the very tip. Her jump rope around her waist forming a tail going just below the back of her knees.
"Just when I think ya can't get any more adorable. So what should I call ya?" - Harley
"You can call me Multimouse." - Maria
Soon they were racing and doing tricks off different roofs, they were really enjoying themselves. From one of the roofs they heard a commotion in one of the alleys, when they looked down they saw a man holding a woman at gunpoint.
"Not good, seems like he's got issues, probably lost his lover, most likely has additions to drugs and alcohol, and seems to be a little tipsy." - Harley
"I've got a plan." - Multimouse
…………
Multimouse droped a little way behind the guy, grabbing his attention while Harley got the lady to safety.
"You know there's a help center two blocks from here that would be more than willing to help you." - Multimouse
The crook just raised his gun to her trying to keep it steady as he spoke.
"Give me all your money little girl, or else I'll hurt you."
"1. That's not how you hold a gun. 2. That is no way to treat any girl. and 3. Instead of money, I'll give you my jump rope." - Multimouse
"Why the hell would I want your jump rope, that thing looks worthless." the crook lowered his guard enough as Multimouse pretended to hand over her jump rope, only to use it in a quick motion to dismarm the man, as Harley promptly knocked him out with one swing.
"Lets neva have ya at gunpoint again, okay hun? I'm afraid my heart can't take it." - Harley said while tying the crook to a lamppost.
"Sorry, but it was the best idea I could come up with at the moment, besides, any guy with a gun would feel like they have the upper hand if they're facing a random little girl with a jump rope, rather than Gothams' Harley Quinn with a bat." - Multimouse
"Sadly I'm just too popular with the kiddos on the street." - Harley
…………
They continued to stop a few more muggers on the way back to the base, and when they got back they peaked around the corner to see the whole Batfam plus Iron Man talking with Ivy and Selina.
"How much you want to bet we can get back out before they see us?" - Whispering Multimouse
"... Lets try hidin' in the kitchen." - Whispering Harley
As they tried to sneak by (still in their costumes) Selina just walks over and draggs them to the group.
"Here, now let me sleep!" - Selina
"Dang it Selina we wanted tah see just how long we could hide out in the kitchen!" - Harley
Selina did a double take now realizing they both went out.
"... You didn't." - Selina
"We wanted tah go free-runnin'! So what?" - Harley
"She could've gotten hurt Harls." - Ivy
"My suits magic, I am invulnerable to bullets, normal magic, swords, knifes, anything staby staby, and I can withstand any temperature in it." Multimouse said with a slight pout.
"Hold up, is she a magical girl?" - Red Hood in the background
When Selina let go both Harley and Multimouse went behind Ivy for protection.
"We can still make a run for it." - Harley whispered to Multimouse
"... Ok, I'll meet you on the roof." - Whispering Multimouse
Harley gave a nod as she slowly inched her wasy closer to the door that lead to the roof, as she saw Iron Man approach Multimouse.
"Please get out of your suit, we need to talk about why you're here-" - Iron Man
"Multitute!" - Multimouse
Harley then saw Multimouse shrink into dozens of tiny little versions of herself as her clones spread out in all directions, one of which was heading right for her.
"Wth, you never told us she could use magic!" - Red Robin
Harley picked her up, and slipped through the door without anyone noticing.
"That was great, but how do ya get back tuh normal size?" - Harley
"Simple, I just merge back with my clones." As she said this, all her clones came back, and she merged with herself, becoming normal sized again.
"Where to?" - Multimouse
………… So now The Batfam is trying to find many long gone Mini-Multimouses, and Harley seems to have disappeared with her. Harley and Multimouse are now running over the roofs, heading for Wayne Manor.
"So why are we going to Wayne Manor?" - Multimouse
"Because, Batsy will neva think of lookin' for us at his own home, at least not fawh a little while." - Harley
When they arrived at the Manor, Multimouse de-transformed as Harley knocked on the door.
"Ms. Quinn, Ms. Maria, pleasure to see you here, please come in." - Alfred
"Are any of the bat-birds here?" - Harley
"Ms. Barbara, Ms. Stephanie, and Ms. Cassandra are the only ones here at the moment." - Alfred
"Do ya think you can keep us bein' here a secret from Batsy?" - Harley
"Harley? What are you doing here with Maria?" - Barbara
"It seems that Ms. Harley and Ms. Maria are now playing hide and seek with the rest of the family." - Alfred
"Did someone say hide and seek?" - Steph
"Yes, so could we maybe try and keep this a secret from everyone else, please?" - Maria
"Sure, it was starting to get boring around here. We can all hide in the living room no one ever use. Barbara you show them the way, I'll get the food/drinks and boardgames." - Steph
"Is this alright with you Alfred?" Maria
"It's all right Ms. Maria, you can hide out in the old living room." - Alfred
"Thanks Alfie, ya the best." - Harley
"Thank you Alfred." - Maria
"Ok then, follow me." - Barbara
…………
In the old living room, Harley, Maria, Barbara, Steph, and Cass began to formulate a plan.
"Ok, so the best way for them to never find you is to have your phone off, stay away from any and all cameras, and show your face to no one." - Steph
"So, do you have anything in mind that you might want to do?" - Barbara
"Can we put them on a wild goose chase?" - Maria
Cass nodded to Marias' suggestion approvingly.
"I can hack a few traffic cams to help with that." - Barbara
"We can also throw in some useless hints, to throw dem even further off our scent." - Harley
"Good idea Harley." - Barbara
"Thanks, but how long do ya think we should make it last?" - Harley
"As long as Maria wants it to." - Barbara
"Then let the games begin." - Maria.

༄ the mediterranean sea collection - masterlist
Tumblr media
Today had to be one of the worst days in your life. Freezing, drenched, and newly homeless, you tucked yourself onto the bus stop bench. Lucky you, this one didn't even have an awning to protect you from the elements.
The rain had no pity for your predicament as it pelted your body, the light clothing doing close to nothing for you. Summer had just come, yet the night rainfall seemed to have brought an unexpected chill.
Not to mention the suitcase and duffle bag you had with you were now also getting soaked.
You could only hope nothing was too waterlogged.
Your hand did little to protect your dying phone from getting wet as you tried to search for the nearest place to stay. Motel, hotel, air B'N'B; anything in range to get you off the streets for the night.
You had a feeling this would happen, and boy were kicking yourself for not seeing the red flags and preparing sooner.
Not having enough savings for a dorm, you had signed a contract with the residents of an apartment to rent out one of the rooms for cheap.
The agreement only lasted for two semesters, but they had promised that you'd be able to renew it once summer rolled around.
"Promise my ass." You grumbled, remembering how the original owner had gotten a partner. In return, they refused to let you sign another contract so they would have space for the "love of their life".
You saw the signs; you saw how their stuff slowly moved into the apartment and all the time they were spending there.
You just didn't think they'd be shitty enough people to kick you out the moment your contract ended.
A gust of icy wind rolled through, causing another shudder to rack your body. The closest place wasn't in walking distance, and it was far to late for the buses to be running. Sighing, you shut off your phone and closed your eyes.
You had resigned yourself to walk the several blocks to the nearest 24/7 fast food place to at least get out of the rain.
That was until the rain fall suddenly stopped beating down on you. The rain couldn't have stopped though, you could still hear it. You blinked your eyes open and looked up, surprised to what - or more accurately, who - you saw.
"...Kyojurou?"
Standing there in all his warmth and glory, Kyojurou looked down at you with concern, holding a bright red umbrella over your soaked form.
He couldn't seem to help the small smile that graced his lips at the sound of his first name.
"I'd be happier that you finally used my name if you didn't look so sad and drenched."
A humorless snort escaped your lips as you hugged yourself, shivering slightly. "Timing always has my side doesn't it? I'm just about to head to the closest food place to get out of the rain, so don't worry about it."
"Why?"
"I got kicked out," you shrugged, looking to the ground.
"This late at night?"
"It surprised me too. They found a new roommate and wouldn't let me renew my contract for the next school year, and it just so happens it ended tonight." There was a hint of bitterness in your tone, one that was completely understandable.
Kyojurou's brows furrowed. "They didn't give you a heads up? A two week notice?"
"I'm just lucky they let me pack all of my stuff before I had to leave." You continued to look down at the ground, not seeing the way Kyojurou's face contorted ever so slightly.
He didn't get mad often, but whoever your old roommates are were now on his shit list
"Well that's a shitty thing to do," he stated bluntly, causing you to sputter and blink dumbly at him.
It's been almost a year since you've met the blonde, and in all that time you never once heard him say a single bad word.
"Did you just curse??"
He pretended not to hear, pulling out his own phone to see the time as you mulled over the fact that this sweet ray of sunshine just called someone shitty.
Expression neutralizing as he schemed, he turned back to you. "You don't have to stay in a fast food place for the night."
"Huh?? Are you suggesting I sleep in a box?"
The man smiled, resting a reassuring hand on top of your shoulder, frustration forgotten for now. "You can stay with me!"
"What now?"
Chuckling, he passed the umbrella off to you to hold, beginning to slip his arms out of the jacket he wore. "You can stay with me for the time being until you get back on your feet! Well, us. If you wanted to of course! Sanemi just moved out, so we're looking for a new one regardless."
Baffled at the sudden offer, you started to shake your head, forming the words to decline him. It was too big of a favor, how could you accept that?
He was one step ahead of you, as he always is.
"Before you say anything, no, it would not be any trouble, you're a joy to have around! We can settle the nitty gritty later, let's just get you out of the cold."
"Wait, Kyojurou," you were silenced by a heavy warmth that suddenly engulfed your upper body, including your sight. Moving the fabric from your eyes, you realized it was his jacket.
His once dry clothes was slowly becoming just as soaked as you were as he took back the umbrella, insistently keeping it solely above you.
The gentle way he smiled in combination with the light post that shined behind his head had you convinced he was your guardian angel in disguise.
You hesitantly pulled the jacket closer to your body, not being able to deny how relieving the warmth felt. "But, won't you be cold?"
"My insides are practically pocket heaters, it takes a lot for me to be cold. A little wind and rain won't do anything to me, I promise! Now come on, before you get sick," he insisted as he grabbed your bag, throwing them over his shoulder.
"Little" was an understatement, but you didn't have the energy to argue. It was the middle of the night and you could feel your eyes starting to droop.
Grabbing your luggage to role behind, you let the other wrap his free arm around your form, hand resting on your arm. "Thank you, truly I don't know where to start showing how grateful I am. I owe you big time."
"Never refer to me as Rengoku-san again and I'll call it even!"
A wobbly smile tugged at your lips as you leaned into his side, letting him guide you down the route to his apartment. "You have a deal then, Kyojurou."
Tumblr media
The weather broadcasters warned everyone about heavy snowfall, but you couldn’t help but think they could’ve prepared everyone a bit more as you stared out your window and could only see the shadow of snow.
Thank the gods above it was winter break or they’d have to cancel classes, which would just be tuition money flushed down the shitter.
Your train of thought was interrupted by a knock at the door of the bedroom you were in, which was odd because the door was open.
Low and behold, it was your sweetheart of a boyfriend, holding two mugs and using his foot to knock. “I brought hot coco!”
"You don't have to knock, this is your room you dork."
"Our room technically, my dear." He responded smoothly, shutting the door with his foot behind him as he made his way to you.
"Careful not to spill it," he winked, laughing slightly as he handed you your mug.
"Just for that I should," you scoffed playfully, sticking your tongue out at him as you took the drink. The smile on his face was nothing but adoring, finding you to be adorable. You had to look away to dismiss the butterflies that swarmed in your tummy. “Looks like we’re snowed in for a bit. The snow is above the windows.”
Kyojurou hummed in agreement. “I still don’t understand how tiny snowflakes can become so damaging so fast!”
“You’re funny,” you chuckled, taking a sip of the hot beverage. Kyojurou always made the best hot chocolate.
“... UME! I’m glad I can be amusing!” You couldn't hold down the snort at the realization that he wasn't joking, swallowing and shaking your head. You granted him mercy and switched the subject.
“What are the others up to?”
Kyojurou leaned against the sill next to you, shoulder bumping yours affectionately. “Tengen is in the living room playing video games with his girlfriends, Mitsuri is watching a movie in her room and Obanai is watching with her. I think she's also painting his nails from the conversation I overheard while passing by."
“I see.”
The both of you were leaning against the window sill, basking in the comfortable silence. It wasn't common in an apartment full of unique roommates.
Even now you both could hear the loud victory cheer of Suma as Tengen groaned in defeat.
Taking another sip of your drink, you hummed, lifting your head to face Kyojurou. You were going to say something, but that was forgotten as you covered your mouth with your fingers as to not laugh suddenly.
"Hm? Is something wrong?" Your poor oblivious lover had a whipped cream mustache. He tilted his head at you - not unlike an owl - seemingly confused to your sudden shift in expression. You swallowed your laughter down as you placed your drink onto the sill, stepping closer to the blonde.
"No, nothing's wrong. You just have a little something rigghtt..." you reached out to grip his chin gently, swiping your thumb across his top lip to collect the whipped cream. "-there, all gone!"
A pretty, bright red color spread across Kyojurou’s face, wide eyes blinking owlishly at you with his mouth slightly agape. Laughing quietly at his reaction, you licked the cream off your thumb, patting the side of his cheek teasingly.
"You'll catch flies, hun." A click of teeth could be heard as he closed his mouth.
"RIGHT!" He stopped himself to clear his throat, turning to face the window as his usual smile reappeared, though a bit wobbly. "Thank you!"
All you did was hum, a slight mischievous smirk settling onto your face. You were set to happily go back to your drink when you shivered, the chill of the room finally reaching you through your clothes.
Kyojurou caught it from the corner of his eye, turning back to you. “Are you cold?”
You waved him off, shaking your head. It wasn't an uncommon occurrence, you'll just get another sweatshirt.
“I’ll be ok. The hot coco will warm me up in- WOAH!” That plan was thrown out the window when he suddenly scooped you up into his broad arms, smiling determinedly.
"You're not allowed to just continue on being cold, not if I can help it!" The firey man plopped you down onto your shared bed, quickly gathering the collection of fluffy blankets you have accumulated over time.
In the blink of an eye, you were neatly swaddled in said blankets and being held gently to your boyfriend's warm chest. He settled underneath the main blanket, wrapping his strong arms around your body.
“Is that better?” He beamed at you, looking oh so proud of himself.
What did you do to deserve him?
"Much," you all but groaned, snuggling your face into the warmth of his chest. It was like cuddling a big warm marshmallow. “I still can’t understand how you’re so warm.”
“I’m a living-breathing heater, my dear. I’ve explained this before, I’m sure of it.”
You snorted, leaning into his hand as he began to run his fingers through your hair. “I’m not complaining, you’re good to keep around for whenever my hands freeze.”
“I wouldn’t mind one bit," his voice came out softly, planting a warm kiss to onto your forehead. This in turn caused you to melt even further into him, burying your face into his shirt.
Kyojurou laughed with amusement as he turned on the television, looking for something for the two of you to watch for the rest of the evening. You eventually peaked your head out to look at him, wrapping your arms around his middle.
“Hey, Kyojurou?”
“Yes?”
All of his attention was on you. Even in these small moments he looks at you as though you're the most precious human being in the world. And to him, you were.
You hummed, placing a kiss onto his chin. “I’m happy I spilled my drink all over you.”
The small peck had similar effects from the whipped cream incident earlier, though he seemed to snap out of it quicker this time. He smiled brighter, cupping your cheek with his large, warm hand.
“That's an odd way of saying I love you."
This made you pause, the 'L-word' not being used between the two of you yet. “Wait, what?"
He gave you no time to question further as he placed a kiss onto your lips in return, his other hand finding the small of your back to pull you closer.
The initial shock of being kissed faded quickly, your arms finding their way around his neck as you pulled yourself closer. The kiss was short and sweet, yet the passion that Kyojurou lived by was always present.
The kiss came to a pause with you laying on top of his chest, remote forgotten and blankets wrapped around you as you steadied your breathing.
Kyojurou's eyes crinkled slightly with his smile, brushing the back of his hand across your cheek.
"I love you too."

To be fair, he hadn't even thought of it. Never crossed his mind, not even once.
It was 1 AM now; way past his bedtime, way past his much needed rest for an early morning and he hadn't even tried closing his eyes. For once in his life, he was left wondering.
His life was filled with praise and ego, to be his lover would mean being able to put up with him and giving him praise when he actually deserved it. He didn't need half-assed compliments or someone on his hands and feet -- he needed someone to see him grow by himself.
You see, it hadn't crossed his mind that you were in a dark place in the past or present. You were strong in your own way and he saw it as a powerful trait of yours. You wanted to be a hero just like him but not because you wanted to prove your worth, you just wanted to save those who couldn't protect themselves.
"Katsuki! Right hook, then left!" You'd yell during your spar sessions. He takes your advice seriously, knowing you wanted him to improve just as much as he does for you.
"Fuckin' idiot," He mumbled in the darkness. You seemed so fine with it too, laughed about whatever happened as if it wasnt a huge part of who you were now. You talked like it was the weather, mundane and nothing crucial.
Could people smile after that? You did. It was scary to him how used to the life you were. You must've been scared, who wouldn't be?
"Katsuki, I have something to tell you," You said right before his bedtime, around 7 maybe. He was confused why you didn't just walk up and strike a conversation with him like usual.
Must be serious, he had thought and damn was it serious.
On the balcony, under the dark sky with a faraway look in your eyes. You didn't even turn to him once, just went on and on; one story after another. Sometimes you'd laugh like it was funny.
It wasn't funny, he was mortified and worried -- rendered him speechless to a point that his body came to a standstill.
You're a good person, he knew that most. You were someone that shone brighter than his classmates, that was why he chose you to be his partner at first.
"You must be freaked out, huh," You stated, finally turning to meet his worried eyes with a smile. "I don't blame you, it's a lot to take in."
"I trust you a lot and I just wanted you to know what you're getting yourself into when you're with me, so take your time. I'll wait for you."
Is he feeling bad right now? What was he feeling bad for? That you had a horrible life? He hated pitying people but he couldn't help but worry for you.
Also, what did you mean by 'take your time'? Had you thought Bakugou Katsuki, Lord Explosion Murder and soon-to-be Dynamight, was going to run away the second you told him?
If anything he just wanted to hug you right now, but he missed his chance when it reached midnight. Now he's going to accept the consequences of shock by not getting a good night's rest like he intended.
This bothered him.
How were you sleeping right now?
Just as the thought crossed his mind, he was out the door. Midnight, shoeless feet, his plain black shirt and sweats, he walked down the corridor to your door and was tempted to knock.
What if he was bothering your rest? He didn't want that, not after the conversation you both had. He turned on his heel and was met face-to-face with his teacher's pet cat who wandered the dorms at night to check on students, it stared straight at his soul and kinda creeped him out.
He put a finger to his lips, trying to shush it from making any possible noise but it harnessed the loudest cat-like screech he's heard. Bakugou jumped when he heard your door creak open, turning as quick as he could to see you.
"Katsuki? What are you doing here at night? 's like...," You trailed off, looking back into your room for your clock. "1:37 AM. It's way past your bedtime."
"U-Uh yeah, sorry. Just wanted to check on you," He mumbled the last bit, shooing you with his hand. "Go back to sleep, I'll talk to ya in the morning."
It was silent for a moment and you sighed, reaching out to grab his retreating hand and pulling him into your room.
"What? Hey! This isn't allowed!" He scolded you, tapping your hand on his. He was grateful it was dark enough to hide the growing warmth on his cheeks.
"Not like it matters, it's almost 2 AM. Don't want you to go to class tired," You mumbled with a yawn. You pulled him to your bed, gesturing him to rest on top of your shoulder as you laid there waiting.
He hesitantly sits down and curls to your side, your hand playing with his soft yet spiky hair. Bakugou relaxes and focuses on your deep breaths.
"What's wrong?" You asked, eyes closed. "Rare t'see you staying up so late. Can't sleep?"
He shakes his head. "Just thinking about you."
"Awww, how sweet~," You whispered with a giggle. "What were you thinking about?"
Bakugou stares at you before grunting.
"Drop the act. I saw your puffy eyes the second you came out of your room," He snarls, sitting up and looking down at you. "Don't do that in front of me."
You frowned for a moment and smiled again, hand reaching up and caressing his cheek. It was always so soft and clear, probably from the quirk he inherited from his mother.
"Can't help it. Got used to it, hun," You told him. "Not like I could sleep either, cried 'til I could. Kinda worked until I heard Mr Aizawa's cat screeching."
Bakugou cringed with his eyes closed. "Sorry."
"No problem, I like his cat," You answered. It was silent again. "Do you think I'm pitiful?"
"No," He answered. "If you're looking for pity, you're dating the wrong guy."
Chuckling, you nodded. "Must be dating the right one then."
You sat up just slightly, kissing his chin. It was the most you could do in the position, and he didn't seem like the type to budge. He grabs your cheek and kisses your forehead.
"Whatever happened, happened. Just because you told me, doesn't mean my impression of you changed. You just...," He trailed off. "... Showed me how you need to be treated, the best of the best."
"You're a better fit for a hero than any extra. Trust me," He stated firmly. Tears welled up in your eyes and you smiled wobbily.
"Damn it, you Katsudon! I just finished crying too," You muttered, rubbing your eyes as you let the tears cascade down your cheeks. He smiles at your reaction, leaning in to kiss you on the lips gently and choosing not to point out the ridiculous pet name you gave him.
"From now on, tell me everything. What makes you uncomfortable, happy, and how I can make you feel better," He ruffles your hair. "I love you, idiot. You're stuck with me."
More tears fell from your eyes. He waited for your smile to come and his heart grew warm again.
"Thank you, Suki. I love you too." You laughed.

The Coordinates Of My Heart ~ JJK [Request]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WORD COUNT: 2.4K
GENRE: Angst, fluffy ending, established relationship
PAIRING: Jungkook x fem!reader
Tumblr media
It was no secret that Jungkook had tattoos all over his body, everyone had seen them by now but not every single tattoo that covered him. There was one very secret tattoo that nobody except for you and Jungkook knew about...Well, you, Jungkook and his ex-girlfriend that was. It was only a small tattoo on his left peck but it was one of the biggest mistakes Jungkook had ever made in his life, the whole time he was getting his collection of tattoos he swore he would never have someone's name tattooed onto his body and yet there it sat. Black ink across his peck with her name in cursive writing with a small heart attached at the end, "SeoJun" The tattoo bothered you a lot but you would never let that show in front of Jungkook. You'd been dating for almost three years now so you never brought it up except for the first time he showed you. He wanted you to know that she meant nothing to him anymore but that it was there and something he had to deal with.
It was still a crushing feeling to see another girls name tattooed on his body and him always saying that he would never do it again, never tattoo a name across him anywhere on his body. You knew he was thinking rationally but there was a part of you inside that cried out to know why he wouldn't put your name on himself instead but the other part of you thought rationally. He probably didn't want to chance it by getting your name tattooed anywhere on himself and having the relationship fall through.
"Baby I'm so tired," Jungkook groaned that morning as he walked down the stairs to you in the living room he was shirtless and wearing a pair of shorts, you were trying to convince him to go swimming with you. It was his week off from the studio, he took it off to spend time with you but for the last six days he'd done nothing but lay in bed gaming or go out to dinner with his friends, or hang out with the boys.
"I'm only asking for this one thing baby...Please! I don't want to go alone." You giggled to him as you tugged on his hands trying to convince him to go with you, he looked at you tiredly as he shook his head.
"I'm busy today," He mumbled as he took his arm out of your grasp, ignoring the look of confusion written across your face as he walked into the kitchen. Jungkook hadn't told you he'd made plans with anyone which was why you'd woken him up in the first place if you'd have known he was busy you would have left him. Following after him, you went into the kitchen and he began to make himself something to eat,
"Busy with what? We haven't hung out all week, you said you took the week off to spend time with me." You uttered you knew it probably sounded as though you were being childish but right now you didn't care, you'd missed your boyfriend and this week it felt like you saw him less than you did when he was actually working.
"I actually said I took the week off to relax, so far I haven't done any of that." He grumbled as he began pouring himself a bowl of cereal, not meeting your eyes as he spoke. Rolling your eyes at him you shook your head,
"You've relaxed plenty, all you've done is game and sleep...As well as go to lunch, or spent time with friends...W-What if we went for walk instead? Namjoon said he found this really cute hiking trail..." You trailed off when you realised Jungkook was more interested in the phone that was sitting in his hand than he was in listening to you talk to him. The thought of him ignoring you was heartbreaking enough, you began to overthink everything, maybe he was getting bored of being with you...
"But of course, I wouldn't want to take you away from what is really important." You grumbled to him referring to the phone before storming out of the kitchen and into the living room to grab your swimming bag to go alone since he wasn't that bothered about you anymore.
"Are you upset because I won't hang out with you?! We don't have to be around each other 24/7 Y/n." He followed you into the living room staring into your eyes as he waited for you to say something back to him. He didn't mean for it to come out as harsh as the way it was.
"No, but it would be nice if my own boyfriend wanted to do something with me. Watch a movie, go for a walk, order food. All you've been bothered about is gaming or hanging with the guys, we haven't done anything this week." He rolled his eyes at you before going back into the kitchen without another word in your direction. You knew it wasn't supposed to start a fight but there was a part inside of you that wanted answers from him.
"Tell me I'm wrong then. Tell me one time this week you've even wanted or offered to hang out with me." You stated as you walked back into the kitchen, he put his bowl down into the sink shaking his head at you.
"I've been busy. I'm doing stuff all week, I don't need you jumping down my neck-" He stopped talking when his phone began to ring on the table in front of him for a second you could have sworn a panicked look spread across his face. Out of habit your eyes glanced down to see who it was but as soon as you saw the name you wish you hadn't. SEOJUN. Was written across the screen in big bold writing with a broken heart beside her name just like the tattoo Jungkook had only the heart was broken.
"W-Why is she calling you?" Instead of answering you Jungkook just turned the phone over so you couldn't see it and shook his head at the question.
"Jungkook..." You whispered feeling insecure at the thought of him starting to see her again, it wasn't that you didn't trust him. It was Seojun that you didn't trust. She was manipulative and cunning. She always got whatever it was she wanted if she used the right way on Jungkook it was like she had a spell on him.
"Y/n it's not what it looks like, she's just started to say sorry to me that's all. She wants to make up for all the awful things that happened, she opened up her new shop so I've been going to help-" The look on your face made Jungkook stop talking instantly and he knew he fucked up, it was a look of sadness and anger as you realised he'd been spending all of his time with her.
"S-So you've been spending time with her? On your week off..." He nodded his head slowly not wanting to lie to you about where he had been anymore,
"Because I knew if I told you, you would be upset-" He tried to rationalise it but you cut him off,
"Of course I would! You've been spending all of your free time with your ex-girlfriend and lying to me about it!" You yelled out as you stared down at his phone, it was starting to ring again but you both ignored it this time letting it go to voicemail.
"I was just helping out with her shop, she's straightened herself out." You scoffed at the thought of it all and the phone began to ring again, it was clear she wasn't going to quit calling him until he finally answered her call.
"So she's trying to get back with you?" You questioned as you stared at him folding your arms over your chest,
"No! She's trying to say sorry..." You rolled your eyes at the statement, at how naive he was being about all of it and began walking away from him not wanting to listen to this.
"Am I not allowed, friends?!" He snapped at you making you turn to face him you were angrier now at the fact that he was making it seem like you were forcing him not to talk to her,
"You can be friends with whoever you want...B-But didn't you think about how this would make me feel? Seeing her again? When she's literally tattooed across your chest?!" He heard the crack in your voice as you stormed out of the door, leaving him alone in the world of his own thoughts. He knew how much the tattoo hurt you even if you refused to show him that sometimes, he groaned picking up his phone to her.
"I'll be running late today, come by about 2 pm? The place will be empty and it'll be just me and you, like old times." He sighed as he heard her voice down the other side of the phone,
"We should stop, she's suspicious..." He whispered to Seojun as he walked out of the kitchen and towards the front door, you were sitting in the car so he walked up the stairs to talk.
You whimpered as you got into your car, starting up the engine and driving off towards the pool. You didn't even need to go, you just had to be out of the house for a while to let your brain cool down from what was happening, you were probably just overreacting to it all.
Tumblr media
When you came in after swimming the house was empty, all of the lights were off so you knew Jungkook must have been out or up in bed asleep but it was only 7 pm so that was unlikely true. You dropped your keys down in the small bowl by the front door and kicked off your shoes wanting nothing more than to snuggle up beside Jungkook and say sorry for that morning but he wasn't there so you went for the next best thing. Having a shower and curling up in one of his shirts while you waited for him to come home, you'd left him some texts but if he was still upset about this morning you doubted he would answer you.
As you walked into the kitchen you saw a note on the door,
Went out to think. Don't wait up. Love you. x x x JJK x x x You smiled halfheartedly as you read the note from him to you and screwed it up before putting it into the bin. All you had to do was remind yourself that Jungkook loved you, he would never do anything to hurt you.
Tumblr media
Later that night Jungkook pulled up outside the house and saw your car,
"I'll call you later, Y/n's home so I'm going to talk to her if she's awake," Jungkook said to Seojun who hummed before hanging upon him. He shut the door carefully and headed up to the front door, it was almost 12 pm so you were most likely asleep in bed but when he walked into the living room you were out cold on the sofa. Draped in one of his jumpers and a pair of shorts with a blanket around you, the TV was playing to itself all of their Bangtan bombs and he smiled to himself. At least you weren't too angry at him to fall asleep to his voice, he turned off the TV and headed into the kitchen.
A small hissing noise made you wake up when you heard small grunts of pain,
"Guk?" You moaned out as you rubbed your eyes, the kitchen light was on and the moaning was coming from there. Terror ripped through you at the thought of him and someone else being in there together but Jungkook would never do that...Would he? Slowly sliding off the sofa you tip-toed into the kitchen to see Jungkook with his back to you, he was hissing as he pulled something off his chest,
"Kookie? What's going on?" Jungkook jumped as your voice suddenly filled the air, he turned to face you and you saw what he was struggling to do. There was fresh clingfilm wrapped around his chest along with some pads,
"Jungkook?" You frowned walking further into the kitchen as you helped him take off the cling film,
"I did something." He mumbled as he took your hands into his own to stop you from removing the rest of it all,
"We have to talk..." You stared into his eyes waiting for him to continue and he looked down,
"I know how much the tattooed bothered you without you saying anything...That's the reason I've been seeing Seojun so much, she runs her own tattoo parlour instead of working for other people now..." You remembered him telling you once that she worked as a tattooist in someone else's shop,
"S-So you went to her to get a tattoo done? Why didn't you tell me?" He let go of your wrists and allowed you to keep unwrapping the clingfilm until it got to the end and the flower could be seen,
"Because we were working on something I couldn't tell you about," Sitting on his left peck, covering the entire muscle was a huge tattoo of your birth flower. Tears began to well up in your eyes as you stared at the masterpiece,
"The best part." He whispered as he took your hand carefully and lead it over to the middle of his chest, written in small black in were some coordinates.
"Do you know what that is?" You stared at them with a frown on your face shaking your head at him trying to work it out,
"It's the coordinates of where I first told you that I loved you," You stared at the coordinates before wrapping your arms around the back of his neck and dragging him into a passionate kiss. Tugging him closer to you until he hissed out in pain,
"S-Sorry, the tattoo is sore." He chuckled as you looked at it again,
"Where's your cream? I'll apply it and then we can go to bed?" You questioned as he nodded at you, telling you where the cream he used for all his tattoo's was kept and went to sit on the sofa for you. Smiling happily as he waited for you to come back to him.

Table Tennis
Ship: Hyunjae (TBZ) x reader
Non idol, college au, slice of life, enemies to lovers (sort of) angsty fluff?
Word count: 1,184
Warnings: rivalry between reader & Hyunjae, mischievous friends, I'm not even sure what else to be honest.
A/N: I wanted to write something about Hyunjae, and when I saw that he liked table tennis this is where my mind went. I hope you all like it. Please let me know what you think.
Tumblr media
"Well Mr. smartie pants. I bet I can best you at almost anything here." you yelled competitively as you entered the empty rec room at the university.
"Don't be so sure." you could hear his smirk.
Hyunjae had been your rival, for lack of a better word, all semester. The chemistry professor had pitted the two of you against each other the first day.
It was a friendly rivalry, yet the both of you couldn't stand letting the other top your score, nor did either of you accept defeat when the other finished the assignment before you. Which led to today. It was the week before finals, last day in class, and the professor had told you both that he enjoyed seeing the way the two of you had learned together. You both had top marks in the class. That's when Hyunjae asked 'so professor, who has a better percentage' which spiraled into an argument. The professor never answered, he just smiled as he watched the two of you bicker.
"OK, being as you scored lower, I'll give you the upper hand, and let you choose" he mocked, as he looked around the room.
"He never answered on who had the better marks" you defended pointing at him, with your finger and your eyes.
"That's because he didn't want to see you cry" his eyes became devilish.
"Oh shut up" you said, exasperated. You quickly surveyed the room, when the familiar folded green table caught your eye. You grew up playing against your dad, and you knew you could beat this pompous jerk at table tennis. You walked over and grabbed a paddle, then turned to face him.
"Table tennis" you smirked, and he laughed in response.
"Really?" Laughter hung on every letter. "You think you can best me at ping pong?"
"Yes, I am in fact very skilled at table tennis." you jeered back as you started putting the table into playing position.
A half hour later you were still in the intense match with Hyunjae. The both of you had drawn a small crowd to the rec room. The score was 6:5 it had been a fairly even match.
The room cheered as you hit the ball, it spun slightly,  hitting the table just right before bouncing past his paddle, scoring against Hyunjae. He glared as he retrieved the ball
"5 serving 7" he growled as he served. The small ball seemed to float, as the two of you continued another long rally. "You know I'm actually impressed. No one has ever actually played against me this well" you almost stopped at Hyunjae's words. Was he actually trying to compliment you? He took the your moment of confusion to backhand the ball, scoring as it soared past you. Some cheers as well as some disappointed cries came from the crowd around you.
"You should always pay attention" his devilish smirk reappeared.
"I guess I was just taken back by your fake kindness" you rebuttled, "7 serving 6" you called as you started another rally.
"This is it! Game point!" Eric yelled as the crowd cheered, it was 10:9. Hyunjae was leading. The crowd was lively, on a Thursday afternoon you expected there wasn't much else for them to be doing. The rally was getting more and more intense. Hyunjae backhanded the ball, to which you smashed back. Bringing the score to an even 10:10.
"She's not going down that easy!" Kevin cheered, and high fived someone behind you.
"Of course I'm not. He's just gotten a few lucky shots" you smirked, placing your hands on your hips. Hyunjae glared at you.
"Lucky shots? Lucky shots? Yeah right. I'm better than you." He stated, setting down his paddle and walking towards you.
"We are literally tied" you met him. Now standing toe to toe. The tension was thick. "Admit it! I am just as good as you are." you poked his chest emphasizing every word. He grabbed your left wrist, holding it between the two of you.
"No, I don't lie." he leaned in, his eyes boring into yours, with a fierce glare. You opened your mouth to speak when you felt hands on your back push you into Hyunjae. Your lips connected with his for a moment.
The shock on both of your faces must've been evident as you both looked at each other as you separated, taking a step back. You both stared at each other while the room seemed to explode with cheers.
"I - ugh" you yelled, as you threw your paddle to the ground. You stormed out of the room, and down the hall, as oohs fell from the lips of the crowd.
"Wait!" You heard Hyunjae, his footsteps echoing behind you.
"What?" You responded as you whipped around. He skidded to a halt, almost knocking you over. You tried catching yourself against the wall, his arm around your waist also trying to catch you.
He opened his mouth, then closed it shaking his head. "I'm sorry" his words barely left his lips.
"About what?" You asked brashedly, pulling yourself from his grip.
"Being a jerk." He rubbed the back of his neck. "I tend to get very competitive."
"Really? I couldn't tell." sarcasm dripped from your lips.
"You're not making this easy," he sighed, biting his lip slightly.
"What am I not making easy? You have riled me up all semester. Your little jabs, your mocking tones. I am just as good as you are Hyunjae!" Hot angry tears stung your eyes. You refused to let them fall.
"That's where you're wrong-" you cut him off,
"Hell of an apology" you turned to walk away, but he caught your wrist.
"Let me finish. You're wrong because you're not just as good as I am, you're better" he looked sincere, but your anger was too much. You went to pull away, but his hand remained tight on your wrist.
"I don't believe you"
"Look, I tend to get caught up in everything. Friendly competition isn't usually friendly with me." He let go of your wrist and ran his fingers through his hair. His eyes darted from you to the floor multiple times. He seemed to be scrambling for something to say, yet the words never came.
A sigh left your lips. You'd always known you were stubborn. You also knew you had a mean competitive streak. Maybe he wasn't so different than you.
"Can you both just admit you like each other?" Eric's voice rang through the hallway, followed by stifled laughter.
"Shut up Eric!" Hyunjae called back smugly, then looked at you.
"Not until we see a real kiss, being as the last one backfired" Kevin chimed in.
"So it was you! You little twerp!" You yelled as you started towards them, Hyunjae's laughter caught you off guard, as well as his hand on your shoulder. "What's so funny?" You asked, cocking your eyebrow looking at him.
"I haven't heard someone be called a twerp in years" he laughed harder. "It fits him so well"
You couldn't help but smile, then you started laughing too.
