Joel survives.

“Joel, what are you doing outside? You should be resting.” You say while rubbing your eyes.

It was the late evening and it was a very hard day for you two. First surviving that unbearable cold storm and then surviving the wolves attack, you thought you are going to lose him just 8 hours ago.

“Jus’ trying to play some guitar.” He murmured.

You sat down next to him, taking your knees into your hands and laying your head on top of them.

“You should be asleep, baby.” He takes the blanket from behind, putting it over you.

Your heart ached whenever you looked into his face. Swollen, two black eyes and while you and maria did your best to flick him up and putting bandages, the blood was still visible.

“Oh joel…” your hand gently stroked his cheek, then his hair, you felt like almost crying again.

“S’okey. M’here. Not going anywhere.” He smiled trough as much as he could before his face hurt him again.

They beat him up very badly and if jesse and ellie didn’t found him, they would’ve killed him too. Joel told everything as much as he could because he was half unconscious at the time. He lost so much blood, it was a miracle that he is sitting next to you right now, smiling. You could puke at the thought of him not being alive, your joel.

“M’gonna fuck these people up.” You murmured, looking at the distance in front of you. Half of them could escape, especially the blonde girl who was going to kill him. If you could get your hands on her, if only you were together with joel on patrol.

“I know. S’okey. Nothing happened, baby. It was bad luck.”

He tried his best to reassure you. His heart was breaking at the way you were sobbing while they bought him back to Jackson. After flicking him up with maria you gave him a gentle bath, for his back, his hair and shoulders but while doing that you cried your eyes out, you could’ve lost him. It was making joel so depressed seeing you and the other people being so so struck by what happened.

“C’mon, let’s go inside and sleep. It’s getting really cold now.” He urged standing up slowly with a deep growl. You immediately jumped from your seat, taking his hand and arm holding him. He stumbled slowly back to your home and you sat him gently down on the bed again.

“From now on, not standing up without me is that clear?” You asked, gently going trough his curls.

“Yes ma’am.”

“I love you, Joel.” You told him your eyes swelling again with tears as you felt his hand slowly coming cupping your face and humming.

“I love you more, sweetheart.”

And they happily lived after…alive and well. </3

I really like the random set ups in the manga for Mirai and what she is inspired from.

The clock keepers reminded us of Pinocchio before and now Cinderella, AidaIro took random vibes from European tales and I am all for it.

And Kako, being born from the grief and guilt of the clock maker, creating little things for the replacement of the niece is so cool too.

She had three mices as pets and Kako created three automatons for Mirai. Which ended up being one of the things he retrieves from Nene right away to give them back to Mirai. He is so gentle with her everytime he holds her too. She also gains a little crown showing how much this clock maker ended up loving her as his own daughter. And of course Akane who compared her before to a mouse because he has no respect.
