Not as a casual greeting, we usually use γεια for that but we do still very often use χαίρετε which is its plural form. Χαιρε however still exists in lots of stuff, like the greek national anthem and orthdox christian religious texts used in church.

However, if I want to be funny I could say "χαιρε" to, like, my dad when he comes back from work, like you might use "greetings" or some other old-sounding greeting in a joking manner.

But it's said in ac Odyssey because it was like a word for hi or bye in the past. It literally translates to "rejoice", by the way.

Betrayal, Desire, and Skin for whichever Silverwood character(s) you like! Y'know unless those tickle your brain an exact way for Second Chances folks instead.

Betrayal: Has your OC ever been betrayed by someone they thought they could trust? Has your OC ever betrayed someone who trusted them?

This is almost too easy for Silverwood because well, it's Silverwood and betrayal is pretty much bread-and-butter to the story so I'll tell you one that you might not expect (please forgive me if you already know this).

So Ithea was terminally ill with a disease which ultimately would tear her body apart but which could have been mitigated for much longer than it was except for the fact that she was hardwired old school Drezhein and would literally rather die than show weakness in front of anyone, even people that she supposedly trusts. So when it starts getting to the point where she's having difficulty hiding her symptoms from Anthem and the kids she basically arranges to have herself killed (she fights her brother Ithian to the death, and they both die).

No one knows about this, for years nobody had any idea what happened. Anthem didn't know why she had gone off on her own when they had talked about working together to kill him and to the kids she just vanished and Anthem never told them anything. In fact they knew so little information about it that Charlie actually accused his father of murdering Ithea because, well, it made sense at the time.

Until many, many years later when Kaite was cleaning up at the manor house and she found a letter that Ithea had written to Charlie explaining everything and apologizing and then she had just hidden it somewhere. To most of the kids the whole thing made sense and gave them closure, after all they were adults with children of their own, in many cases. But for Charlie and Cyan, it really was a betrayal that Ithea would choose to abandon them rather than ruin her image.

And neither one of them ever entirely forgave her.

Desire: What's one thing your OC wants more than anything in the world? Are they open with that desire? Why or why not? What would they do to fulfill it?

Ithea has several deep desires that people either don't know about or don't understand. It's hard to believe from the first answer but she really did want to be a mother, she just wasn't willing to pursue that in face of what it would mean to have all of them watch her die slowly from this horrific disease. However people really don't understand why she craved power and notoriety as much as she did, they just sort of chalk it up to a Drezhein thing because they do tend to be power-hungry.

But it goes a bit farther with her because of where and how she was raised, in a place where women are basically powerless and worthless, aren't allowed to be educated, aren't really allowed to be in positions of authority, aren't supposed to make waves, can't make decisions for themselves… She wants to stand out. She wants power over other people. She wants people to notice her and have to respect her. That, she pursues with everything she has.

Skin: How comfortable is your OC in their skin? Do they grapple with anything that lives inside them—a beast, a curse, a failure, a monster? How do they face the smallest, weakest, most horrible version of themself? Are they able to acknowledge it at all?

Switching stories for this one because it's not really an issue for anybody in the Silverwood cast however it is for Mahesha from Second Chances.

He isn't human, and he is very much pretending that he is human for most of the story. Because they live in a world where shapeshifters are not valued, and he grew up in a place that is especially bad about that, he sees himself as nothing but a beast, and he hates everything about himself that is different from the humans around him.

He is incredibly hard on himself, punishes himself for every thing that he views as a mistake or a failure and is also very bad at acknowledging when he actually does something right. More or less he consistently punishes himself for not having been born human and is pretty much constantly reminding himself that he is less than the people around him. He believes everything he was ever taught – consciously or subconsciously – about shapeshifters and it takes him a very long time to even make the basic connection of "just because some trait or habit isn't human does not automatically make it bad".

i feel like i can imagine the players singing the verses to each other: holding each other up, keeping each other focused, reminded each other of everything they did to get to the place where they are now. for both this song and the next song, i think the hard drop represents the burst of energy or passion they feel during critical points in a game.

for act II seido, i thought of shivering by illenium and spiritbox.

similar to the last song, but i think this song is more angsty and intense, in a sense. i feel like the verses refer to a past in which they suffered or endured something difficult. i can feel this song being representative of the new team as they fight for their old third years and rebuild themselves from the bottom up. i imagine singing this song to their opponents and also each other, about what they've learned and the intense determination to succeed that they hold.

with their loud personalities and fiery attitudes, i think kuramochi and sawamura would be hardstyle.

i dont think theres a moment in this song where it truly slows down. the pounding bass represents his footsteps, and the quick tempo represents his speed. truly encompasses the cheetah.

as for sawamura, his take on hardstyle would definitely be the songs with epic sounding narration.

sub zero project has many songs like this, but path of the warrior is definitely sawamura's type. he would definitely call himself and his teammates warriors 💀💀

jokes aside, this type of hardstyle is also very uplifting. as "epic-sounding" the narration in the song is, it fits into his role as ace of lifting up the teams spirits. it also reminded me of his pre-game speech of asking for his teammates to prepare for any balls. best boy eijun :)

literally just scrolling through my edm playlist while brainstorming and it hit me that furuya is so the dominate vip by space laces. i'd say this genre has both dubstep, techno, and big room influences.

[for those of you who are unfamiliar with edm terminology, vip stands for variation in production. similar meaning to remix, except a vip holds more of the original song content (i think lol)]

though his personality is not as intense as say, sawamura or kuramochi mentioned above, i dont think this means he's exactly a wallflower either. this song is more "laidback" in the sense of perhaps tempo, but the hard-hitting drop and the quick intervals between them reminded me of furuya's pitches; nonstop, heavy pitches. despite his chiller demeanor, do not underestimate him on-the-field.

switching gears, haruichi is a quite positive and uplifting character that nicely balances out sawamura and furuya. as such, i felt that he would fit progressive house. still energetic, but has softer elements to it. i think he's pretty encouraging to his teammates and genuinely cares about them a lot, so superhuman by tritonal and codeko came to mind.

the lyrics make me imagine haruichi saying these uplifting words to his teammates, such as in moments when they doubt their abilities or begin to place blame on solely themselves. i think he'd be one to remind them that they're all in it together.

as i was writing haruichi's entry, hollow by dabin, kai wachi, and lo spirit came on. immediately thought about okumura. it has elements of both dubstep and melodic bass.

the lyrics made me think about okumura being inspired by his seniors, particularly sawamura and miyuki. especially sawamura, who seemingly teaches okumura the art of being in a battery. when he was just getting used to the team, okumura did come off as hollow, but after getting to know sawamura, it seems that he's gaining valuable experience and knowledge in both life and baseball. i think the melodic bass aspect signifies the beauty of a baseball battery while the dubstep signifies okumura's solid presence and pressure on the field.

lowest of keys had trouble of thinking of something for miyuki, but i decided on make u sweat! by knock2 !! this is bass house.

i think knock2 is pretty revered in the edm community for being revolutionary in his music. with this song, i go beyond relating miyuki to just the song, but also the dj, as both are highly respected/well-known in their communities. both are young with big careers ahead of them in their respective fields. as for the song itself, i felt like sweat in itself pretty much represented him in both a game and in practice LMFAO but i also think miyuki is clever and playful, much like this song and other of knock2's works. catchy (no pun intended), addictive, and unique. that is miyuki kazuya. that is knock2.

as a character, i thought chris you as comforting, soothing, and reliable. he's a little more lowkey, and so i knew to categorize him as house: miracle remix by calvin harris, ellie goulding, and mau p.

chris was vital to the series, not only to seido as a whole, but also for being a role model and inspiration to miyuku and sawamura, two very key players in the current seido team. his presence is a miracle as the song suggests. when i first heard this song, i was entranced by it; i was relaxed, yet i was also filled with energy. i think chris has the same effect: a comforting presence, but he inspires you to do more.

isashiki is def subtronicscore: scream saver by subtronics.

this song bursts your ears; it's intense, heavy, ear-splitting, but you can't help to listen to it.

isashiki is loud, hence scream saver. particularly at the moment where it says "target marked," it made me think about him hitting the ball with his bat, sending it flying. he plays for "the kill," or for the win, in other words. i imagine him challenging his opponents and securing victory for his team with this song.

We went, we fucked around at Mondo, and we came back alive

This has been an eventful weekend for me and my friends since we visited Budapest to attend Mondocon. Let me sum up the highlights of the three-day trip.

Day one

So many people commented on my axe that I don't think I can count them. What surprised me the most was that most of them were older men who found it amusing.

THE TRAIN WAS ALMOST PERFECTLY ON FUCKING TIME

Chatted with some lovely Irish guys. They are interrailing in their gap year before returning to Ireland for uni. We talked about schools, languages and if they really need to pay their fares on buses in cities💀

We saw our old Hungarian teacher, who travelled on the same train.

Once we got to the building of our apartment we were a bit sketched out by the place, but in the end, the apartment itself was really nice and had plenty of space.

We talked a lot, played some card games and one of my friends cooked us some incredible véres hurka, which was delicious

Day two

In the morning I woke up at like 7am and went on to wash the dishes. I needed to. There were so many cups.

The day before I had to wait out the slowest line at the pharmacy I have ever encountered, but in the end, the bandages I got were incredibly good and held up all day.

Once I got into cosplay (I did a fem version of Kratos from God of War: Ragnarok) I was still running around the flat and scared to death that my makeup will smudge.

Once we got to the venue (we travelled throughout the city in cosplay, yes) one person from our group almost got stuck at the gate, because after the (lovely) moderators scanned his ticked the scanner showed that it has already been claimed. Fortunately, he got let in and I am planning on writing an email about this to the szervezők.

Once inside we melted from the heat and saw just how many people attended this time around. It was incredible though, I had so much fun. Talked with so many other cosplayers and vendors that I am really glad about.

I got asked for a full photoshoot, which the lovely @tealeaftragedy accompanied me to. I will get the photos soon and will upload them.

In the evening, beside getting phylosophical and finding out that they don't sell alcohol after 10pm in Budapest, we taught how to do CPR.

Day three

We headed to the train station in unbearable heat, but before that we just put our luggage down at Westend and had some food. I introduced my friend to the wonders of Lush as well.

We didn't have AC on the train so we were literally melting for 3 hours in there.

We also blasted the song Diggy, diggy hole (the metal cover from Wind Rose) and listened to ITTY BITTY TITTY COMMITTEE by Ham Sandwich, which I would like to make the official anthem of this trip thankyouverymuch.

Got home safe and sound, with no casualties and everyone really happy about this trip.

Overall, this year's Mondocon was so much fun. Luck was on our side and we had no casualties and most importantly no rain. I can't wait for next year's one, which I will be making my cosplay for and will try to document here.
