my dear friend, thank you so very much for this absolutely wonderful present. i am positively overjoyed to receive such an affectionate gift. when you have the time, please do drop by the mostro lounge. present the enclosed card at the door and you can enjoy a complimentary drink on me. ━ azul ashengrotto

a smile ghosted its way over your lips as you read azul’s returning card, finding it sweet of him to do this gesture all because you gave him a valentine's gift. you placed the card on your desk and made yourself look presentable before visiting the lounge. 

“are you going somewhere?” asked grim, “we ran out of tuna cans, so go buy some!” you let out a hum in response before patting his head and telling him to behave. you then ran out of your dorm, holding the card that azul told you to present for a complimentary drink.

as soon as you step onto the floors of mostro lounge, jazz music can be heard along with the chatter of students from different dorms and sounds of glasses and plates clinking, hinting that it is mostro lounge's busy hour.

“little shrimpy!”

hearing that familiar call, you looked around and spotted the twins sitting by the bar. you waved at them and sat beside floyd as you had a conversation with the twins while sipping on your drink.

the aura of mostro lounge was relaxing which is why it is one of your favourite places in nrc.

“azul is available if you wish to speak to him,” says jade as he seems to know the reason for your “free” drink, “he’s in his office right now.” he smiled at you and you replied with thanks before you walked towards his office while holding your half-finished drink. 

you gently knocked on his office door three times, hoping you weren’t disturbing him. “come in,” voiced out the male as you turned the doorknob and entered his office. you smiled at him as he smiled back, gesturing you to sit on the couch. 

“i see you have received your drink,” said azul, “do you like it?” you let out a hum as you nodded, “aren’t you going to have a drink too?”

it felt awkward for you to be the only one enjoying a beverage and you wanted to have a drink with him, but he shook his head and told you he was fine and that you should finish your drink first.

you nodded and placed the cup on his desk once you were finished, causing him to stand up and grab your cup before walking towards to door.

“i’ll be back,” said azul as he left you in his office. you nodded and made yourself sink into the comfortable couch.

it was cold in his office ━ not the shivering type of cold, but the refreshing type, similar to the scenarios when you enter a cold room after a long day out in the uncomfortable heat. it felt relaxing and you wanted to sleep, but you thought that would be embarrassing.

your eyes trailed around his beautiful office before landing on his desk, a blue folder laid flat on the surface on the further left side with his fishbone pen placed neatly on its holder. it was neat, as expected from azul.

seconds later, the door opened revealing azul with two glasses filled with your drink of choice. he arranged the glasses down on the table and sat on his leather chair.

“care for another drink? with me, this time,” uttered azul as he grabbed his glass. you took yours and thanked him before clinking your glasses together and taking a sip of your drink.

“thank you again,” said azul as he smiled at you, “that was... thoughtful of you.”

you avoided his gaze for a moment and stared at the drink in your glass. you did not know what to say, wondering if the feelings you desired to convey to him through that gift were clear. however from your point of view at the moment, it doesn't seem like your feelings were communicated properly.

“glad you like it,” you mumbled as you continued gulping down on your drink. you continued to lounge around azul's office for a while and had a pleasant conversation with him.

unbeknownst to the man before you, your heart was racing the entire time, feeling as if you were lucky to have this moment with someone that you are head over heels for. 

hours later, you have decided it was time to rest for the night. you stood up and thanked him for his time and how you enjoyed being around him before turning around and walking towards his door.

suddenly, he held your wrist before you could walk away any further. his touch was gentle as his voice called out, “wait...!” 

out of curiosity, you turned around to look at him and questioned, “is there something else?”

azul was silent for a moment before leaning towards you and placing a soft kiss on your lips, then he pulled away and smiled, “sleep tight, love.”

My Friend

Note: I'm back!! I wrote this fic for @twst-charity , which is a Twisted Wonderland-themed charity drive for Palestine. Please do check it out and donate!! Their pinned post and blog in general has a lot of information, and they also have contributor sign-ups open as well! I really hope you guys can support in any way you can!

Anyways, this is a fic focused on Rollo and the donor's oc, Robin! Fic is under the cut. I had so much fun writing this, especially since this was my first time writing for Rollo. Hopefully I can also get to work on other requests for the charity drive and the requests on my inbox as well! This is also full fluff so no warnings from here!

Chatter and laughter fill the cafe, filling the area with a lively and bustling atmosphere. The smell of coffee beans and freshly baked pastries waft through the air and easily excite the customers piling in. The door jingles lightly with every person walking in, and people all converse together happily. Groups of friends, couples, families, and even those alone are enveloped by the welcoming ambience of the cafe.

The bells jingle again, prompting the servers to enthusiastically thank the two people who were leaving. Rollo and Robin step out of the warm cafe, a cold breeze greeting them as soon as they step outside. Robin takes a small sip of his hot chocolate, smiling happily at the toasty feeling it brings to him. The shorter boy lets out a small hum of contentment as the hot beverage smoothly goes down his throat.

“Mmmh! Thanks for treating me, Rollo. This cafe really is good!” Robin grins up at Rollo in happiness and gratitude. Rollo only nods, using his handkerchief to cover his mouth a bit. Rollo’s voice is slightly muffled as he speaks from behind the cloth, “Of course. It’s my pleasure. This cafe is known for its authentic traditional food from Fleur City, so I thought it best to show you the richness of Fleur City’s culture.”

The two start to stroll together by the sidewalk, a peaceful silence between the two friends. A few butterflies flutter over, making Robin giggle slightly as he watches them fly about without a care. The butterflies then proceeded to fly away, the whimsical wings fluttering off. Just as the winged insects flew out of view, a small drop of water fell on Rollo’s shoulder, making him pause and look around to see whoever or whatever made the water fall on him.

With that one droplet of water, came another. And another. Until drops of rain were falling from the sky. Robin lets out an exclamation of surprise, not having anticipated it to start raining. It’s somewhat evident that Rollo didn’t expect it either, if his annoyed mutters into the handkerchief fully covering his mouth mean anything. The two quickly run back to the cafe, stopping just outside and taking shelter under the extended roof. Rollo heaves a sigh of relief and pockets his handkerchief, looking at Robin who was trying to dry his slightly damp hair.

Robin lets out a small chuckle and quickly downs the rest of his hot chocolate, setting it by the table nearby. The two take a seat and watch as Fleur City becomes a rainy wonderland. While it was a mundane and normal sight to Rollo, who has lived in Fleur City his whole life, it seemed almost like a life-changing experience to Robin. There was just something so beautiful about how the raindrops fell and made puddles in the ground, rippling with every drop that fell. How the petals of the flowers outside would bend a bit when a drop would fall on them, and how the bright sun still shines despite the rain and darkening clouds, making a wonderful scene.

Such a stunning sight should definitely be captured on camera.

The younger boy takes out his camera and turns it on, looking through the viewfinder of the camera. Robin squints in concentration as he fiddles with the focus and zoom rings on his camera, trying to find the best way to capture the wondrous moment. Rollo watches on in slight confusion, but doesn’t say anything just yet. He knows when someone needs to focus, and photography is a delicate art that requires all concentration. A shutter and click sound is heard, and Robin looks at the photo he took. A bright grin grows on his face as he sees the picture.

“Rollo, Rollo! You should take a look at this!” Rollo blinks a bit and leans over curiously, looking from above Robin’s shoulder to see the picture. It was just a standard picture of Fleur City raining; it wasn’t anything extraordinary. While Fleur City was a beautiful sight, was it really worth taking a photo of it while it was raining? It’s still the same city, after all; it’s not like there’s any change to Fleur City as it rains. The same buildings, the same flowers, the same people.

And yet... when looking at it through Robin’s camera, everything seems brighter, almost mesmerising. Rollo was used to the sight of Fleur City, though he loved his homeplace very dearly, but even he didn’t expect to see this beautiful sight. The camera caught even the smallest of details, and it was so wonderful to see that such a moment was perfectly captured and preserved. Rollo forces himself to hide the small smile growing on his face, but lets himself release a sound of affirmation and pride. “Hm, you did well. A beautifully taken picture. The beauty of Fleur City truly shines with this...”

It was rare for Rollo to give praise to anything or anyone, and is more seen showing his disdain for things more than anything else. Robin blushes a bit and sheepishly grins, puffing out his chest a bit in confidence, “Hehe I’m glad you like it! Oh! How about I print it out for you? You really like Fleur City, don’t you? I can print it out as a keepsake for you or something.”

Rollo blinks a bit in surprise, “Really? You would?” He pauses and hesitates a bit. His pride and ego is telling him not to accept it; after all, he shouldn’t seem so vulnerable in front of others. Especially not after what happened last time. He swore to himself never to let his emotions truly get the better of him. He’s been forgiven by the NRC students, but he’ll never forget their faces and the faces of the people who got hurt because of him. But then... it’s Robin.

It surprises him how kind Robin is, and he feels almost taken aback when Robin nods happily, his big grin brighter than even the sun. Rollo sighs in defeat, “I would like that. Thank you…”

Robin lets out a celebratory noise and keeps his camera. “I’ll print it out when I get back and give it to you, then!”

It was so surprising sometimes, how Robin can be so sweet to someone like Rollo. Rollo knows he can be too much. He knows he’s done so many things that are wrong. No matter how much he works, he knows he might never truly make up for it. He doesn’t understand how Robin, who has been so exposed to magic despite having none himself, can be so caring and understanding. How can Robin be so kind to him? Rollo is rather sure that, after what he’s done to Robin’s friends, he wouldn’t even want to be associated with him.

Rollo breaks the peaceful silence between them as he softly speaks, “Why? Why are you so kind to me?” Robin blinks and tilts his head to the side with a confused expression. “Hm? What do you mean by that?”

The older boy sighs and tries to explain, “I mean... certainly you should feel some sort of disdain towards me, shouldn’t you? It’s a wonder that you’re so kind to me. So why? Why are you…?"

“Huh?! Hey, don’t say that, Rollo! Why am I so kind to you...? Well, I guess it’s because it looks like you need a friend!” Robin musters up a kind smile to his companion. “I don’t see how it’s so special, though, but I’d be very glad to be the friend that you need!”

A friend… Rollo’s had close acquaintances before, maybe some people he’ll confide in sometimes, but he’s never really thought of anyone as a friend. After the incident with his younger brother, after he swore to himself to eradicate all magic in this world, he’s never had someone he can truly call a friend. He tries to keep his blush and smile hidden behind his handkerchief, muttering to himself as he averts his gaze.

Yet Robin thinks of him as a friend. Are there people out there who think of him as a friend too? Perhaps not, not with his terrible temperament. But Robin seeing him as a friend is a big surprise. Or, knowing the first year’s friendliness and kindness, maybe it isn’t so shocking.

“I don’t deserve someone as amazing as you…” Rollo mumbles out softly, his voice muffled by the handkerchief over his mouth. As Rollo watches Robin hum in confusion, asking what he just said, he swears to himself to not make the same mistake he made last time.

Robin makes him feel like a normal person again. Like he isn’t just Noble Bell College’s Student Council President. Like he’s just another person. Like he didn’t actually do so many terrible things in a fit of rage and revenge. Like he’s just a friend to someone. It’s hard to muster up the words to describe the warmth he feels, and Rollo’s pride and ego just can’t let him express his true feelings. Not now. Not yet. For now, he can only manage to say what he’s always wanted to say in his head.

“Thank you, Robin. You’ve saved me, my friend.”

Hi Revive! I just wanted to say I absolutely adore your 'Bunny' OC! New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was my absolute favorite show as a kid and I loved Rabbit so Bunny is just the cutest thing I've ever seen from TWST OCs! I love him and I was wanting to know if you had written anything specific about him? Also I write little fanfic things with a friend of mine (haven't been posting them recently) and I was wondering if you would mind if we used Bunny as a staff member? He's super adorable and obviously I'd love to see how you imagine him in your head so if he shows up I depict him properly (and I'd definitely give credit to you for creating him if anything he's mentioned gets posted anywhere but it probably won't be). If you would rather I didn't I completely understand but I just wanted to ask because I have always wanted to expand on the faculty roster but I'm not very good at coming up with professors apparently XD. His nickname, Bunny, is usually reserved for his close friends, who get on his case for his ear-tugging habit (as seen above). Bart/Bartholomew/Professor Lehtonen is for work collegues and students!!

Personality-wise, he's a bit strict and likes to stick to the rules (although, as long as his students are having fun I'm sure he's allowing some stuff to slide). BUT! He's also new as a teacher, so I think a lot of his lesson plans start falling apart really easily (especially in NRC LOL). In a nutshell, hes like the new teacher in school that doesn't know how to properly handle a classroom yet and gets anxious over it. Then again, he gets anxious over a lot of things!

     Baku is a petite girl (woman?) with an energetic and extravagant personality. She acts bubbly and extroverted, albeit selfish and cocky at times, and always cracks jokes whenever she thinks it’s suited. Plus, she doesn’t really watch what she says and is brutally honest most of the time. However, a completely different personality is hidden under the big sweaters she always wears…

     Baku’s sweaters/hoodies serve as some sort of coping mechanism - she shows a radical change of demeanor in her “ off-sweater “ self. Off-sweater Baku is calm, quiet, awkward, and easily irritated. 

     With her sweater, Baku has her hair slicked back and spiky to translate her chaotic personality, and her eyes are closed as “ kitsune no me “, in a way so she “hides” her real self. Off sweater, most of the time in her dorm or any casual time, her hair is down to translate her introverted self and her eyes are open more than usual, indicating that you’re staring at who she really is.

ᴘʀᴏꜰᴇꜱꜱɪᴏɴ/ʀᴏʟᴇ:

     Baku is an oc/sona I use in a bunch of AUs. Most of the time she just fits in whatever world she’s in - a powerful rapper in Hypnosis Microphone, for example. In Twisted Wonderland, Baku is a teacher’s assistant at Night Raven College who also attends classes as a ramshackle student. She hangs out with the staff more than she does with the students.

  - In Twisted Wonderland, it is a running gag that Baku steals a lot of thing. Yoinking would be a better word though. She always runs off with Divus’s coat, will take Rook’s hat, take pictures of herself with Cater’s phone when he’s not looking, or try on Trey’s glasses. She often steals hats from the Octavinelle students too.

     Baku and Divus’s romantic relationship does take place during her time in Twisted Wonderland. However, I’m not a fannn of student/teacher relationships and neither should you. Please keep in mind they are more like friends to best friends to lovers than a student-teacher relationship. They genuinely got along as friends hanging out ( Plus, Baku is great friends with the whole staff. They don’t belittle her or see her as a child, which she’s not ) She’s like a funky person attending their classes. They’re all on a first name basis too. Anyways, its hard to explain but I don’t like student-teacher relationships either and don’t want to see myself as a creep. I could’ve made Baku as a member of the staff but she’s simply no fit to be a teacher.

Hello raven-san. Do you know who is the least popular NRC boy, or atleast in your opinion? And why so, if you don't mind elaborate. Thank you, love reading your posts and analysis 😊

I don’t think there’s a good way for me to figure out which boy is truly the least popular overall, since there aren’t any official character popularity polls to pull data from (and just pulling fan art/fan fic numbers from a few sites isn’t super accurate either). There are also notable differences in character popularity between the JP and EN fandoms. For example, Malleus is very popular in EN, but he is significantly less popular in JP, and Trey is more liked in JP than he is in EN. It would be difficult for me to average those out.

If I had to guess though, I would say the least popular boy is Ortho. The reason? It’s probably because he’s a kid and/or a robot. A lot of general fandom content I see (not just TWST, but fandoms in general) revolves around shipping the characters with one another or with an OC; that can’t really be done for Ortho because of what he is. There’s also not a lot to do theory-wise with Ortho compared to the other boys, especially since the whole “he’s actually dead” thing was answered and resolved in episode 6. Additionally, Ortho’s mainly a 2-in-1 deal prior to episode 6, where a lot of his motivation is tied to Idia, and I can see that extra attachment being unappealing if someone isn’t already also personally invested in Idia.

It also doesn’t help that Ortho doesn’t technically belong to a “group”, as he isn’t fully recognized as a student until very late in the main story. TWST loooves to group its characters (whether its by club, year, dorm, class, or by titles like dorm leaders and vice dorm leaders), and if you aren’t a character that is associated with a group or a certain clique, you’ll probably get less of a spotlight shined on you.

These leave him with not a lot left for discussion 😔 but I’m hoping that now that he’s finally allowed to be his own person and a student that he gets more love… He finally gets his own room for his Union Birthday…! More steps being taken to help him stand out on his own!!

How Saima describes themself: I like to say I'm a pretty cheerful and upbeat person. I try my best to smile through tough situations, though it can be hard sometimes. I also like to say I'm a family person, and I will do anything to protect them, and my friends. I am perfectionistic, but sadly I am a bit scatterbrained, much to the dismay of my parents and older sister. Hell, I almost burned the eggs I was making for the first time. I have been working on my organizational skills though, and I’m happy to say that I’ve come a pretty long way. I can be quite petty too. If someone wrongs me, I tell them either bad puns or horrifying facts for a period of time as revenge. I'm also good at math, so my friends come to me for help with that. Also, in almost every friend group I'm in, I somehow become a therapist friend. Lemme tell you, THAT really takes a toll on me. I also have a soft spot for unabridged fairytales (they high-key have me in a chokehold). Some more lil' factoids about me: I wear my hair in low ponytails because I don't like the feeling of hair on the back of my neck. My friends and family often told me my hands get pretty animated when I talk

✦ the first meeting is embarrassing for both parties; saima is waving their hand around wildly at the courtyard while chastising ace, and at the very same moment, ruggie is rushing to get leona’s lunch to the savanaclaw dorm, and runs right into silver. he trips, and saima end up wacking his face. hard. and then, since he was in the midst of falling, he hits the ground extra hard. then grimm, who had been on saima’s shoulders panicked, and saima losing balance on the uneven grass, falls down onto silver. its not a romantic position at all….

✦ after the apologies, neither of them could really let the situation go, small as it is. there was so many people around! everyone was looking! silver feels shame at how he did not notice ruggie, or even dodge saima’s flurry of hands. it was unbefitting of someone with knightly conducts. usually, he does not get so worked up so easily, but in particular, he had always wanted to give a good impression upon malleus’ friend, and now because of his tired disposition… 🙁

✦ buuttt it all works out in the end ✨ eventually, the two of them get a moment of time together, and tie off the embarrassing first impressions to start anew a very contrasting friendship! a man with a fatigued countenance and an upbeat prefect! though, it seems that while silver still seems to doze off here and there, he can still reply and recall what saima has said even while he was in a daze! how odd..

✦ silver greatly admires saima’s values in family and the way she is viewing the world, brightened in optimism and trying their hardest! he himself can understand the amount of love and drive that is given with the meaning behind every action. the appreciation they have for one another runs deep, extremely so the more and more they learn of each other and their pasts. he can see how diligent and endearing she is as a person, trying to improve any aspect — though, he isnt too partial to horrifying facts 😨

✦ he doesnt need a therapist, meaning they dont have to exhaust that extra emotional energy. he’s extremely good at listening though, so he will definitely be someone to confide in for saima! they can tackle vulnerable situations together no problem! he’s not too good at comfort, but he will try, and saima can definitely pick themselves back up

✦ absolutely watches anime and abridged fairy tales with saima! as long as he doesn’t need to do much, he’ll definitely be an active participant (as much as he can). he isnt too good with video games or the like, so saima uses it as a bonding activity for the two of them!

✦ theyre just the sweetest, spinning cotton candy with interactions. saima definitely tones down her voice to whisper in his ears to test if silver is awake or not. it sends a pleasant shiver down his spine. but oh, he absolutely adores their voice.

Hiya! So first of all I absolutely adore all of your twst stuff it is my current hyperfixation. Second, combining twst and Pokemon? Genius, amazing wonderful, favorite thing ever. So my question is, have you thought about what Pokemon your OC's would have?

Maybe not like a full team but maybe like a Pokemon that's just there all the time with them (let's assume that NRC, WAI, and RSA let's you have one (1) Pokemon that you can keep with you at all times) Like a Pokemon Lilith Crewel carries for either ✨fashion✨ or as protection y'know?

Not to inject my own stuff in with the au's but I thought of my Yuu/MC having just the littlest baby Larvitar that always wants cuddles from its trainer. (Plz ignore that Larvitar weighs like 160 lbs he's just a baby 🥺)

As for my ocs pokemon hmm...here are the ones off the top of my head:

My Yuu, Isabelle: She would have a Mimikyu. She's twisted from Belle, and I personally like to headcanon Belle would like ghost types. And Mimikyus whole thing of wanting to be loved and having the disguise would earn Isabelle's sympathy. I like to think she found it in Ramshackle the first night and kept. Because she's from the Obey Me world, spooky stuff doesn't phase her as much, so she wasn't scared and Mimikyu and thought it was cute. Also Umbreon. For similar reasons.

Lily: Lily brought with her a female Pyroar from the Savanna. Because Lily was raised in the wild by animals, or in this au by pokemon, she's very new to the concept of catching. So before she left for White Ash one of her Pyroar siblings went, "I'm going with you, get the ball, don't argue." and that's that. She's very protective of Lily and is one of those pokemon that will jump out the ball whenever they please. Also, Lily has a Applin that she keeps soley for companionship. It was given to her by a girl she knew in the human village back home to remember her.

Phillipa: a Rapidash she had since childhood when it was Ponyta. She also has an Aegislash that likes to spar with her.

Clara: She, unsurprisingly, specializes in fairy types. So her main is a gardevoir that megaevolves, a hatterene, and a togekiss. Along with a little snubull that hangs around her office. 

Lilith: Lilith would have a houndoom, and she treats it like its still a lap dog. Along with an arcanine and both versions of ninetales. Maybe a flareon...she likes them fluffy

Asha: Her companion that she’s had most of her life is a Liepard. It’s been her hunting partner most of her life and it exceptionally trained. She also has a female shiny Luxray. It was gifted to her by Falena as a wedding gift. I like to think in this au, it's tradition for members of the royal family to have a lion pokemon. So when Falena went to the breeder to select a shinx cub for her, one was a shiny and he knew that was the one.

Hi! Your twst self insert drawing + introudction was great. Its nice getting to know the admin behind the blogs, so hope we get too see more of them eventually! As for the drawing. How did you nail the twst style? I m struggle with it still. T_T (hope u wont find this messege cringe or smth T_T).

TYSM!!! And its not cringe at all!!!! I actually got super into this ask and made a tutorial on how I made my sprite!!

To preface this, I do strongly recommend references! Anime isn't my usual style, so I very much needed references to get this project done! Also please use references for color, anatomy, clothing folds, etc etc. No shame in using references, people!!!! When I was drawing my TWST sprite, I always had a picture of either Epel or Riddle off to the side to make sure that I was getting everything as close as I could!

Body: 

Honestly,,, the best I can recommend is to find a reference to start off with for the poses (as any drawing), but make the head a little larger to match the anime art style! Or, as a cheat, crop off the head of a twst character/ use the same pose as them,,,,,,.,,

Face:

So for the face, I took the proportions of Riddle's face and applied them to my own, as TWST characters' facial structures are a little different from one another (For example, the way Jack's face is longer and more stretched out than Lilia's). I present as more feminine, so I went with his basic face shape and proportions (Sorry Riddle), but you can also use whichever character you'd like! You can also use Eliza and Najma's facial structures' features  if you'd like if you'd like to look more fem! I believe you can also use the fairy sprites,,,, but I'd have to double check how their proportions even out. Even for younger ocs, theres characters like Cheka and Ortho you could use as a reference!

If you want to look more masc, most of the cast does have the proportions for it!

If you want to look like both, or neither, you can always choose some of the characters that have  in between proportions, like Kalim, Adeuce, Ruggie etc etc...

Eyes: 

Again, you can copy TWST characters' eyes if you want, or you can make up your own shape! We're very lucky as a fan base because TWST has a lot of diversity in their facial features (example, Epel, Ruggie, Floyd, and Cater all have downturned eyes, but they're drawn very differently!), so there's a lot of options to look from! If not, here's a few tips on how to draw twst eyes

-They're roughly in a weird C shape, with the inner corners being open!

-TWST also puts three lines in the character's eyes- one branching off from the eye, one slightly above, and the third one being much higher! If you have a monolid, you can also exempt these lines completely, as they're more obvious in some characters than others (for example, the line's of Floyd's eyes are very spread apart, where in other characters, they are so close that you can only count one or two!)

The eyes themselves (the colored part,,, i forget the word) come in many different shapes, sizes, and colors. The best advice I can give is to find a reference and color it in that way. As a base for the eyes, there are a few tricks:

-The eye is two colors, with a dark shade of your chosen color on the top, and a lighter shade on the bottom. 

-The pupil is a darker shade of the eye color, not black

-In some characters (its very obvious in characters with larger eyes, like Kalim), the devs do draw small, light lines under the pupil, like how you would draw rays of the sun (with the pupil being the sun)- but it's only really in the bottom half. (In characters like Malleus and Riddle, they're not there at all from what I can see.)

-The twst artists do not add a ton of sparkle to the character's eyes! In most sprites, theres no shine at all, but for mine I did add a little circle of light (because i feel like without the sparkle they look a little scary!)

To sum it up, here's it all drawn out on Floyd:

Nose: 

The nose is fairly basic,,, it's a diamond shape (the top half longer than the bottom!), the left side is a very light shade of the skin tone, and the right side is the same shade you would use to shade the rest of the body! It's a little hard to explain, so here's a diagram!

Shading:

The shading in Twst characters is broken up, and some of them are different from others. Again, this is where using references play a huge role!

For basic shading (as in, sprite shading, not card shading), it's normally just a darker, less vibrant version of the chosen skin tone! Here's some examples for diff skin tones that I have for when I want to draw the characters (Feel free to screenshot):

Of course, there's not a ton here (since I only selected a few from my character ref sheet), but it's a basic idea! The shading of the characters is also very similar to the shading on the orbs, very clean lines, and it's not blended out on the skin. The shading on the skin is around the eyes, the hair, the sides of the face, the neck, and of course, the skin (where clothes meet skin, where normal shadows would be). There is also, occasionally, a gradient where the clothes meet the skin- which happens in real life too!

In the Riddle diagram, notice the skin where his wrist is a little duller than the shading? That's because the devs made it so that the color of his white shirt reflects off his skin! (To see it irl, put your hand near neon or brightly colored clothing, you should see the color reflected off your skin!)

For clothing and hair, they have gradients! It goes from very light at the top, to a darker shade at the bottom! It's a similar shading technique to the one on the skin. Of course, in clothing, do the darker shade first, and then a lighter shade on top!

For the hair, separate it into thick chunks and shade them as you shaded before, but add the shine (which looks like drawing a pretty long diamond shape!) in white or a very light color of the hair.  This is for straight and/or wavy hair, as the techniques are similar in Riddle and Azul's hair

Now, TWST does not have the best hair diversity, the only example of a different hair type would be Sam, but of course, he just has one hairstyle of many. 

Sam has locs (please correct me if I'm wrong), and the TWST team did follow the basic shading pattern, but they put texture within each individual loc, as well as added texture to the shaved side of his head (which seems to be another light-to-dark gradient of hair, but with the aforementioned textures). There arent' large highlights like in other hair styles, bit a lot of the highlights are embedded in each loc! It's a lot lighter than in the picture, but underneath each shadow, there's a highlight to counter it!

For braids, I believe using the braided side of Jamil's hair would be a good starting point. There's lines drawn to show which direction the hair is being pulled again (again, shaded in chunks), as well as drawn lines to show his scalp. The highlights are a lot smaller than on the straighter hair, but they're drawn more towards the back of the head. Of course, this is not exactly what other hair styles would look like, but it's a place to start as reference. 

Now for loose hair and hair types that I didn't mention, I'm unsure of how they would look in the TWST art style. You could look through the Black Butler manga to see if there's any characters who could have a similar hair type and draw it based off that. I would follow the basic "rules" of the Twst art style: use a gradient as a base, have both darker colors for shading, and lighter colors for highlights. There are also lots of TWST creators who I've seen around who are very good at adding their hair types in that style! If you know of any references, please comment them or dm me and I'll add their username into this post for people to use (with said creator's permission, of course)!

Finally, the biggest thing that I've seen twst do!!!!

The blue!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the borders and in the backs of many twst characters, theres this sort of... blue glow that highlights certain parts. You can even see it in the Jamil picture above, in the hair right below his ear. Again, it's best to use a reference to see what spots exactly you need to hit with the blue! If you have an airbrush tool in whichever program you use, it's a good idea to use that!

These are all the little things I've noticed while I was drawing, and I hope you can use them all too! If anyone else noticed anything different or wanted to add anything, please do! I love seeing what other people pick up on, and it'd be nice to see what I missed.

And if it doesn't look exactly like a twst character, no worries! The most recent sprite that I made was my sixth? Seventh? try, and it's still not perfect! Don't stress out too much about it- inserting yourself or ocs is a fun thing!

I wanted to continue off of my Mei!Al-Asim idea with appearances, but anon asks dont allow images… *disintegrates*

So instead I’ll go over how their power works, since TWST and Honkai are VASTLY different in terms of how magic works. I’ll just go over how they got them, rather than how they use it and how powerful it is- so this’ll be in parts bc i don’t want to write an essays worth of words today.

I’ll try to go without spoilers since you said before you hadn’t played honkai before, and I wouldn’t want to spoil it in case you ever wanted to try it out. Btw, I had Mei!Al-Asim being the oldest in mind while writing, since I feel it works better.

When people conceptualise Yuu overblots, I’ve seen people say things like “Yuu absorbed some of the blot from the characters who have previously overblotted”. Kalim’s family is very rich and well off, and to my knowledge has to have safety measures to prevent kidnappings and assassination attempts. Mei!Al-Asim was kidnapped when they were either a child or very young teen. They were taken to an abandoned research facility and were to be used as a hostage to exploit as much money as possible from the Asims. The building wasn’t in the best shape and was the base for many unethical experiments. Mei!Al-Asim, being in close proximity to the toxins absorbed it. The experiments were likely trying to introduce foreign chemicals into the body to make it compatible with a serum that was supposed to enhance and bestow new powers to the subject. Mei!Al-Asim coincidentally was compatible with one and was able to take it in with no major side effects, but being a new compound(?) in the body, it had to be housed in a new part, which manifested itself as a stigmata (it’s what it was originally called in Honkai. I just have no idea what to rename it to). It on their back but is not visible unless its power is being used.

Mei!Al-Asim was deemed ‘unfit to be the heir’ of the Asims by their parents. They were shunned by their parents and the servants, who thought “If the Asims do it, who cares if I do it too”. This led to Mei!Al-Asim having to learn basic skills like cleaning on their own since no one would do it for them anymore. Even so, they developed a hobby for cooking, and enjoyed doing it.

And I will end it there, since I will have to introduce a Kiana into the idea (Kiana is Meis best friend. They go way back). This was just me taking Mei’s original story and trying to fit it into the twst world, so it’s subject to change. A quick question: do you mind me making an OC to fit the role of Kiana? I just don’t know who I’d use to fit the role. I’m open to suggestions. Also I’d definitely recommend playing Honkai. The characters and story are amazing and it’s rlly fun too. It can be confusing at first and the lore is a bit tough to understand, but I’m happy to explain things (im Lvl 75 i the game). If not, thats fine!

They can utilize the energy for any purpose. They can unleash it all at once upon the point of release, in either many minor bursts of heat or one big wave of heat, to easily over exert opponents, melt surrounds, or boil/evaporate water sources dry. It makes the user scolding hot to the touch and the heated wave attacks are more blue then the typical red.]

Trivia: He’s loosely based on Godzilla. He gained the title of Housewarden in Deinósavros after only being in the school for two weeks during his first year. swiftly defeating the previous housewarden in just two attacks. He is royalty, only child. Honors student. He comes off as a quiet, strict, and composed person. but despite his usual standoffish nature, he will always lend a helping hand to those who are brave enough to ask him for it, and will always leap right in to protecting his dorm members, even to his own physical determent. is actually a very chill and understanding guy underneath the scary exterior and strict/traditional mindset. He has a tail growing out from his lower back that comes to a point, the tail weighs as much as a kangaroo tail is around 20kg, and is just as long as a kangaroo tail as well (43.5in/110cm). And has gills on the sides of his neck that aren’t very visible, when outside of water. The tail is black like his hair, but has crystal-esque protrusions/spikes of varying sides growing down the “spine” of the tail, from base to tip, that are the same color as his skin spots. Even has some going up his back/spine. These crystal-esque protrusions/spikes, along with his eyes, also appear to glow whenever he uses his unique magic or is in a dark place, they are also somewhat see through - like stained glass. But a lot more durable and sharp.

He usually comes off as boisterous, cocky, and dedicated. is known to be rather suave and silver tongued when he tried to get what he wants - doesn't care for authority but follows it out of necessity/obligation. like Kaiyō he'd do anything for his dorm members. he often holds lessons for the newer dorm members, to teach them how to survive. ones that his dormmates eagerly attend and even show up early for on scheduled days/times, despite the.. brutal and non merciful methods he uses to teach. He can shake the ends of his spiked tails to make a maraca sound, like a rattlesnake can, when he's angry or trying to intimidate. He has a forked tongue like a snake and his four main canine teeth are more pronounced than normal, mainly the top two. Both tails weigh as much as a kangaroo tail is around 20kg, and are both just as long as a kangaroo tail as well (43.5in/110cm). He and Kaiyō have been rivals since childhood, and he is always training and challenging Kaiyō for the spot as housewarden. Hasn’t won so far, though. But is known to refuse to give up on what he wants, no matter how long it takes to obtain or what he has to do. he is able to sprout wings from his back if he concentrates his magic into that area of his body, its not too difficult for him as he's practiced it so much. he's quite cocky about being able to do it while no one else can. ———

Trivia: He is of noble blood, being the adopted only child of a wealthy merchant. i suppose you could say hes inspired by mothra? ? He flinches/physically recoils whenever someone makes skin to skin contact with him (specifically with his scars), he doesn’t like his scars being touched by anyone else other than himself or people he’s close to/trusts. He's very insecure about his scars. He also has some internalized religious trauma due to his upbringing, and becomes anxious/unsettled by religious talk or imagery. The scars on his face/neck are also on different parts of his upper body as well (arms, back, & chest), his lower body being spared - they’re burn scars specifically. from an event in his childhood that he has persistent nightmares about each night. causing him to put off sleep for as long as he can by any means necessary. one of his classmates is magigram famous, and he accidently ended up in the background of a selfie once, and that classmates fans have being strangely enamored by him ever since. he was pressured into making an account, but doesn't use it much.

Trivia: He’s loosely based on the deer that reside on skull island, but tweaked a bit. He has almost scary inhuman levels of speed/dexterity/reflexes, despite his large scale body size, and was hazed into joining track by some upperclassmen despite wanting to join Botany.. but quite enjoys being useful to others on a team. he's effortlessly out ran many rabbit beastmen and wolf beastmen during practice and track meets. He knows how to speak, and is fluent in the three most common languages used in this world, but prefers to communicate with others through gesturing, facial expressions, and body language. though a majority of the time he uses sign language, instead of struggling through charades.. even in places/around people he's comfortable with, he still wont really talk and still just sign. When he does speak its typically in this worlds version of the Hawaiian language. His first name means “alert, lively” in Hawaiian, and his surname means “energy, bold, vigor (+many more)” in (Scottish) gaelic. He also has a lot of social anxiety, from being an outcast due to being weaker than other beastmen, and from his subspecies of beastmen being a prey species. Trivia: He’s based off of the skullscrawlers from kong skull island. He’s the head of the 'student honors society' in RSA. He’s from a rather dysfunctional family, a descendant of the noble military family who own/oversee the Archipelago. Their home was made into a burrowed out large inclined part of land of the Archipelago, that extends down into the earth - like an underground mansion. He has a lisp and hiss’s on his S’s. he has a very high metabolism, and is always hungry - finding it hard to satisfy it, and not usually having the resources to do so before attending rsa despite being nobility. He gorges on the abundance of food from the cafeteria during lunch - but doesn't like it when others watch him eat, so he goes somewhere secluded to feed on what he's gathered.. His jaws possess two rows of serrated, razor-sharp teeth, on the top and bottom. His tongue is inhumanly long, and prehensile. Can unhinge his jaw like a snake. His pupils are horizontal and somewhat resemble those of frogs and toads (same with the double eyelid thing). Just like Kaiyō, he has hidden gills on his neck, allowing him to breathe on land and underwater indefinitely. He uses two custom folding walking sticks with both arms in order to move around, as his legs were not formed right when he was born, bent in the wrong ways, and can’t properly walk without the sticks. also only 4 fingers/toes on his hands/feet instead of the normal 5 (his pinkies’ are missing). But he gets by just fine, and is quite happy. He has an unnaturally high physical durability, muscle strength (upper body) - and mobility/speed on land despite his disability. (when in his aquatic form his disability doesn't have precedence since his legs become a single tail). Need's glass's for reading and when in bright area's as he has sensitive eyes, doesn't wear them at night/in the dark.
